LINCOLN — A delegation from Nebraska will depart this week for the Middle East in hopes of increasing the trade of Nebraska products such as beef, grain and center-pivot irrigation systems.
Secretary of State Bob Evnen is leading the delegation that will visit Dubai and the United Arab Emirates, including a stop at the world’s largest annual food show, the Gulfood Show.
More than 150 countries participate in the food show, Evnen said, and it will be an opportunity to promote Nebraska branded beef.
Nearly 20 representatives of commodity groups and businesses are traveling, along with several faculty members of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Evnen said the trip will provide an opportunity for Nebraskans to increase trade with the Middle East and to exchange cultural and educational practices.
A side trip to Kuwait had to be cancelled because of COVID-19 requirements in that country, he said, which include a quarantine period for visitors.
