Work Will Begin on N-7, In Ainsworth

March 26, 2024 (Ainsworth, Neb.) — Weather permitting, work will begin April 1 on N-7, from South Street to US-20/4th Street, and from reference post 43+00 to reference post 43+60, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

A & R Construction of Plainview is the prime contractor for this project. Work includes replacement of water lines, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, lighting, concrete pavement, and sidewalks. Construction will be completed in five phases (segments) with work beginning at US-20 and progressing south. Each phase is estimated to take two months to substantially complete.

Work on phase 1 will begin the week of April 1 with complete closure of N-7 (Main Street) from 2nd Street to US-20. Local traffic access to Main Street will be maintained while phases are not under construction. Phases with active construction will utilize side street parking with pedestrian access to the businesses maintained during business hours.

Additional information will be provided as the project advances. N-7 traffic will be detoured utilizing 877th Road and 431st Avenue/Pine Street. A 12-foot width restriction will be in effect. Anticipated competition is Dec. 2024.

Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and to put phones down.
