OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — An Omaha man was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday for killing a real estate agent who had agreed to rent a home to him.
Ross Lorello, 44, was sentenced for first-degree murder in the Dec. 28, 2020, shooting death of 70-year-old Mickey Sodoro, the Omaha World-Herald reported.
Prosecutors said Lorello went the southwest Omaha home with the intention of killing Sodoro, who had agreed to rent the home to Lorello despite his bad credit, prosecutors said.
The men were in the home for only minutes before Sodoro was shot in the back of the head. His body was left wrapped in carpet fragments in a garage crawl space.
Prosecutor Brenda Beadle Lorello said Lorello planned to convince others that Sodoro had left the house alive and he was the lawful tenant of the home.
But he left a blood-soaked sweatshirt in the home’s pantry and was caught on camera at several locations dumping Sodoro’s belongings.
Lorello, who was convicted in February, declined to speak to the victim’s family before he was sentenced.
