LINCOLN, Neb - The State of Nebraska announced the selection of Kearney Police Chief Bryan Waugh as the next Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. With a proven track record of public safety leadership and a commitment to innovation and community engagement, Chief Waugh is well-positioned to lead the state's premier law enforcement agency. Waugh replaces Colonel John Bolduc who has retired, Bolduc served as Colonel the past 7 years.

Chief Waugh brings more than six years of exemplary service as the head of the Kearney Police Department, where he spearheaded significant advancements in officer training, technology, and partnerships with the community. His leadership has not only strengthened public safety in Kearney but has also served as a model for departments across the state.

“Chief Waugh’s appointment reflects the high standards of leadership and integrity that Nebraska expects from its public servants,” said Brenda Jensen, City Manager of Kearney. “While we are sad to see him leave our city, we are proud to see him take on this vital statewide role. As he assumes leadership of the Nebraska State Patrol, Chief Waugh will oversee a statewide force tasked with ensuring public safety, upholding the law, and responding to critical incidents across Nebraska’s diverse communities. His experience and vision will be vital in guiding the agency forward.
