NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (June 10, 2025) — The Miss Rodeo Nebraska Organization is preparing to launch its 70th anniversary celebration this Sunday, June 15, with a full week of events in North Platte, coinciding with the start of NebraskaLand Days.
The festivities begin at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Wild West Arena with the horsemanship competition, a public event showcasing contestants’ riding skills. Miss contestants will ride horses not their own, while teen contestants will compete on their personal mounts. A community barbecue and raffle will follow at the pavilion, and the speech competition will take place at 5 p.m. at North Platte Community College.
“This is such a great opportunity for the public to come out and see what these young women are capable of,” said Charlotte Wagner, a board member with the Miss Rodeo Nebraska Organization. “Horsemanship is a huge part of what we do, and it’s really exciting to watch.”
This year’s competition features three Miss contestants and two Teen contestants. The organization is also welcoming back former titleholders as part of its 70th anniversary celebration.
On Monday, June 16, the annual Miss Rodeo Nebraska Style Show will be held at Venue 304, beginning with a social hour at 6 p.m. The event will include a fashion show and vendor booths, offering a more intimate and formal setting than in previous years.
The Miss Teen Rodeo Nebraska Coronation is scheduled for Tuesday evening at the college, moved from its traditional midday slot to allow more community members to attend after work.
The new Miss Rodeo Nebraska will be crowned Wednesday night during the rodeo at 7:30 p.m. at the Wild West Arena. Visiting royalty, including Miss Rodeo America and five state queens, will be in attendance throughout the week.
“Even after the coronation, the work isn’t done,” Wagner said. “There’s still paperwork, appearances, and a lot of behind-the-scenes effort that continues through Thursday.”
