OSHA investigating teens death at Pillen Family Farm near St. Edwards

St. Edwards, Neb. - The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced it will be investigating the death of a 17-year-old that was found unresponsive at the Beaver Valley Pork Company near St. Edwards in early April. OSHA has six months to complete its investigation.

On April 1st, around 11:30am, the Boone County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call regarding an unresponsive 17-year-old juvenile at a hog unit at Beaver Valley Pork Company according to officials.

Sarah Pillen, Co-CEO of Pillen Family Farms identified the teenager as Zach Panther. Pillen stated "The loss of Zach Panther has left us profoundly saddened. Though his employment with our Team was very brief, he positively impacted those he worked with."

"We deeply mourn Zach's passing and extend our prayers to his loved ones during this very difficult time." Pillen added.

An autopsy has been ordered and officials said that during the initial investigation, foul play was not indicated.
