The Nebraska Lottery has distributed more than $11.7 million to state beneficiary funds as part of its latest quarterly transfer.
According to the Nebraska Lottery, $11,764,591 from Scratch and Lotto ticket sales over the past three months was distributed during the week of April 3.
The largest shares went to education programs and the Nebraska Environmental Trust Fund, which each received just over $5.2 million. The Nebraska State Fair Support and Improvement Fund received more than $1.1 million, while the Compulsive Gamblers Assistance Fund received just over $117,000.
Since the lottery began operations in 1993, more than $1.07 billion has been transferred to beneficiary funds across the state.
The current distribution formula was established by voters through Amendment 4 in 2004. It allocates 44.5 percent each to education and the Environmental Trust, 10 percent to the State Fair, and 1 percent—plus the first $500,000 each fiscal year—to the Compulsive Gamblers Assistance Fund.
To date, education programs have received more than $37.8 million under the current structure, while the Environmental Trust Fund has received over $463 million. The State Fair Fund has received nearly $84.7 million, and the Compulsive Gamblers Assistance Fund has received more than $23.5 million.
Additional funds were directed to programs that are no longer active, including the Nebraska Education Improvement Fund, Education Innovation Fund, Nebraska Opportunity Grant Fund, and the Solid Waste Landfill Closure Assistance Fund.
Lottery officials say every county in Nebraska has benefited from grants supported by lottery proceeds.
The Nebraska Lottery also surpassed $1 billion in total beneficiary transfers in September 2024.
