Nebraska Hospital Association and Local Leaders to Highlight Negative Impact of Medicare Advantage on Nebraska Seniors and Hospitals

Posted Sep 28, 2024 2:00 PM

(LINCOLN, NE) – On Tuesday, October 1, at 10:00 AM CT, Nebraska Hospital Association (NHA) President Jeremy Nordquist will join hospital leaders and local health care advocates via Zoom to showcase NHA’s recent member survey results regarding the negative impact of Medicare Advantage plans.

In a survey of its 92 member hospitals, the Nebraska Hospital Association asked for input on their experiences working with Medicare Advantage plans. The result? Medicare Advantage is failing patients and jeopardizing Nebraska hospitals.

Patient access to health care is eroding as some Medicare Advantage plans restrict access to health services by inappropriately denying covered services that are medically necessary, requiring unreasonable levels of documentation to demonstrate clinical appropriateness, and changing health plan rules in the middle of a contract year.

Negative patient experience, financial impacts and administrative burdens, are all affecting Nebraska hospitals and policy changes are needed.

On this call, we’ll hear from hospital leaders across the state on their firsthand experiences working with Medicare Advantage plans at their respective facilities.
