Ogallala defeats McCook 13-8 at B6 Area Seniors District Tournament Day 2

McCook, Nebr - #2 Ogallala defeated #3 McCook 13-8 after a back-and-forth battle Saturday at the Jaycee Complex in McCook for day 2 of the B6 American Legion Seniors Tournament. Ogallala will take on Broken Bow Sunday afternoon in the winners' bracket at 12 pm MST.  Pregame coverage on Flatrock 100.7 will air at 11:50 am MST. Listen Online at www.Flatrock1007.com 

It was a very similar start to game 2 for Ogallala as both teams were held scoreless through the first two innings. Ogallala who was the visiting team in today's contest would plate 6 runs in the top half of the third inning. Ogallala's Caden Rezac would start the top of the third with a stand up triple and would later come around to score the first points of the game. McCook pitcher Brady Graham struggled in the third, walking two batters and hitting two batters. He would later be replaced by Quentin Terry. 

McCook would cut the lead in half after they would score three in the bottom of the fourth. Ogallala couldn't add run insurance in the top of the fifth while McCook would eventually tie the game at 7 after the fifth.

Ogallala would add insurance in the top of the sixth when they would again add another 6 runs. Ogallala's Ian Shaw started the inning getting hit by a pitch before stealing two bags. Jayden Curtis hit a hard hit down the third base line to score Shaw and helped get the momentum rolling.

Ogallala would add one more in the seventh for good measures as they would defeat McCook 13-8. In the game, Ogallala would throw 4 pitchers on the mound. Colton Knispel would get the start and throw three innings striking out 3 batters. Also getting appearances was Aydan Halligan, Cole Stokey, and Caden Rezac where Rezac would finish the game. The Ogallala pitching staff would combine to strike out 8 batters. McCook threw 4 pitchers as well on the mound. 

Earlier in the day #1 Minden was eliminated by Holdrege 4-2. Broken Bow defeated Gothenburg 11-3 which also eliminated Gothenburg from the tournament. Ogallala will take on Broken Bow in the winner's bracket for the first game of the day with a 12 pm MST start. McCook and Holdrege will battle it out in the loser's bracket with their game set to begin at 4:00 pm central time.
