Sheriff: Kan. man critically injured in Dec. 20 crash has died

A Kansas man who was ejected and critically injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Dec. 20 has died. Richard Wilson, 46, of Salina, died of his injuries on Sunday, according to Sheriff Roger Soldan.

Wilson was driving a 2010 Toyota RAV4 westbound on Granville Road just west of N. Ohio Street when the vehicle went off the south side of the road and rolled numerous times, Soldan said on Dec. 21. Wilson, who was not properly restrained, was ejected from the vehicle.

A passenger in the vehicle, Michelle Peterson, 44, of Salina, received lacerations, but refused medical treatment, Soldan said on Dec. 21. She was properly restrained at the time of the accident, he noted.

Two people were injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash north of Salina late Monday afternoon.

The driver, Richard Wilson, 46, of Salina, was ejected from the vehicle. He suffered significant injuries and was transported by EMS to Salina Regional Health Center. Wilson was not using a seatbelt, he added.

A passenger in the vehicle, Michelle Peterson, 44, of Salina, received lacerations, but refused medical treatment, Soldan said. She was properly restrained at the time of the accident.

Soldan said investigators are awaiting test results before determining the cause of the wreck.
