A two-vehicle head-on crash in Red Willow County is under investigation, with one person arrested following the incident.

According to the Red Willow County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded April 9 to a crash between mile markers 108 and 109 on the Grand Army of the Republic Highway. Deputies Milton Varney and Kobe Hyland arrived at the scene and conducted the investigation. All individuals involved declined emergency medical services at the scene.

Following the investigation, deputies determined one of the drivers, Anna Trumble, showed signs of alcohol impairment. She was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Red Willow County Corrections Center.

Trumble was booked on multiple charges, including refusal of a chemical test, possession or consumption of an open alcohol container, violation of hand-held wireless communication device laws, and no operator’s license in possession.

The sheriff’s office is reminding residents not to drive under the influence and to follow Nebraska traffic laws to help ensure roadway safety. Authorities say impaired and distracted driving continues to pose a serious danger to motorists.

Agencies assisting at the scene included Bartley Fire and Rescue, as well as the Cambridge Fire Department and Cambridge EMS Rescue Services. The investigation remains ongoing.
