KC man sentenced for fatal shooting of his children's mother

KANSAS CITY —A judge on this week, sentenced 47-year-old Damon Kerr to 24 years in prison for the November 2018, fatal shooting of Donna McKeown, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.

A jury found Kerr guilty of those charges in a trial that concluded in early March.

According to court records, Kansas City police responded on Nov. 25, 2018, to the 3400 block of East 54th Street on a reported shooting. Officers found McKeown in the front seat of a Dodge Avenger. She had been shot in the neck. She was later declared deceased at the  hospital. The victim was mother of three children of the defendant, who initially denied shooting the victim.
