JULY 13, 2023 (LINCOLN, NEB.)  — The Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) will conduct surprise commercial vehicle inspections on Thursday, July 13, from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. in Lancaster County.

The morning inspections will be conducted at:

70th and McCormick Drive, north of 70th and Cornhusker Highway

Inspections in the afternoon will be conducted on a roving basis throughout Lancaster County. Media are welcome to cover the operation but are asked to withhold any public reporting of the inspections until after 3:00 p.m., to protect the surprise nature of the inspections.

The inspections are performed by the Metropolitan Aggressive and Preventative Selective (MAPS) Team, which is funded largely by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. The MAPS Team was implemented in 1998 and consists of troopers from the Nebraska State Patrol’s Carrier Enforcement Division. Troopers assigned to the Carrier Enforcement Division of the Nebraska State Patrol check for compliance with federal safety regulations and enforce laws pertaining to weight, size, registration, and permits associated with commercial vehicles (trucks, semi-trailers, and buses).

The results of the MAPS enforcement activity will be released following the conclusion of Thursday’s enforcement.
