Police make arrest in fatal Lincoln stabbing

Due to the investigative efforts of our personnel, less than 12 hours after the initial call of a stabbing at a residence near West Allison Court and West Fairfield Street, Charles Alexander, 61, of Lincoln, was taken into custody near South 11th Street and Lincoln Mall.

Alexander was arrested for 2nd-degree murder and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony at approximately 10:00 a.m. this morning.

The Lincoln Police Department had been called to the residence on Tuesday, Sept.20, at 11:30 p.m. Arriving officers discovered a 36-year-old Lincoln woman with serious injuries. The officers provided aid until Lincoln Fire and Rescue arrived and transported her to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries.

The investigation is still ongoing as investigators continue to conduct interviews and analyze evidence to determine the timeline of events leading up to, and following, the stabbing as well as the nature of the relationship, if any, Alexander had with the victim.

The victim’s family has been made aware of the arrest however, we are not releasing her name at this time to allow other family members to be notified. We would like to extend our condolences to the victim’s family and friends as they grieve the loss of their loved one.
