GRAND ISLAND, Neb.-A Grand Island man has been arrested after police said they found him passed out behind the wheel with two children in his vehicle.
Police said at around 4:41 p.m. on Thursday, officers responded to the 2000 block of Broadwell Ave. after it was reported that an adult male was passed out in the driver's seat of a vehicle with a child hanging out the driver's side window.
Officers made contact with the driver, Ryan Wieck, and smelled the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.
Police said Wieck was removed from the vehicle and showed obvious signs of impairment.
Police questioned Wieck, who admitted to using Fentanyl while operating the vehicle with two small children, ages three and seven, as passengers.
After the administration of a field sobriety test, Wieck was arrested.
A search of his vehicle produced methamphetamine and marijuana.
Wieck was jailed at the Hall County Jail on suspicion of two counts of felony child abuse, possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, and being under the influence of drugs with persons under 16, and driving while impaired.
