OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Omaha police say they shot a man after he allegedly charged at his mother and officers with a knife and cut himself.

The Omaha World-Herald reports that police identified the man as 37-year-old Justin J. Michalak.

Police say Michalak struggled with his mother and officers and kept fighting after officers used a Taser on him.

They say an officer shot him once in the cheek, but he continued to struggle until he was subdued. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

A special police unit will investigate the shooting.
