CENTRAL CITY, Neb.-Authorities in Merrick County say no one was injured in a plane crash yesterday because there were no souls aboard the plane.

Merrick County deputies responded to the report of a crash in the area of 13th and M Roads near Central City at around 7:33 p.m.
Authorities said an investigation revealed the aircraft had been undergoing maintenance when it suddenly began to travel down the runway.
The craft gained an estimated elevation of 200 feet and traveled approximately 1.5 miles before crashing into a cornfield.

No one was on board the plane at the time.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board were both contacted and the scene was cleared.
