3 children, 3 adults ejected in fatal Kansas rollover crash

WYANDOTTE COUNTY—One person died and six others were injured in an accident just after 7:30p.m. Sunday in Wyandotte County.

 The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2004 GMC Envoy driven by Wilfredo Lopez Cartagena, 35, Kansas City, Kan., was southbound Interstate 435 ramp to eastbound Interstate 70.

The SUV was traveling too fast for the curve and the driver lost control, over corrected, and the SUV rolled multiple times into the right ditch. Six of the eight occupants were ejected from the vehicle.

Lopez Cartagena was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Frontier Forensics.

EMS transported passengers Hennry I. Cartagena Quintanill, 21; Odalis C. Castillo Gomez, 25; Erica Y. Cartagena Quintanill, 33, all of Kansas City, Kansas to KU Medical Center.

EMS transported a 10-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl to Children's Mercy and a 15-year-old girl to Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

One passenger was not transported for treatment. Three adults and three juveniles were not wearing seat belts or in child safety seats, according to the KHP.
