James Dale Brownfield (Brownie) passed away July 28, 2022 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE surrounded by his loving family at the age of 72.&nbsp; James was born June 9, 1950 in Lexington, NE.&nbsp; He graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1968.&nbsp; He then enrolled at Oklahoma State University. During his time in Stillwater, he was a 3-time letterman as a member of OSU golf. He was united in marriage to Gayle (Coit) from Oklahoma City on January 4, 1972 and after graduating with an Agri-Business degree, the couple returned to Cozad to join the family farm until retirement in 2020. Brownie learned the game of golf from his grandfather, Tom, and his father Dale and played many rounds with numerous friends during his life.&nbsp; Although he had many accomplishments in golf, he was most proud of the great friendships he made along the way.&nbsp; Brownie was known for showing up to golf tournaments wearing a blue cutoff shirt, cutoff jean shorts (added suspenders in later years) and finding much success.&nbsp; Although he was very competitive, he remained very humble and gracious during his golf career and felt it was best to keep quiet and let the golf game speak for itself. He was a longtime member of the Cozad United Methodist Church, Cozad Ditch Company, Cozad Country Club, Central Nebraska Golf Association, Cozad Elks Lodge #2250, Rural District 19 School Board, and gave many golf lessons including the Cozad High School girls golf team. During retirement Brownie enjoyed his extra time with five grandchildren. He was always their biggest fan while they competed in numerous sporting events and most recently went to Estes Park with his two youngest.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Beverly (Hays) Brownfield and infant sister DeAnne.&nbsp; He is survived by his devoted wife Gayle of Cozad, sister Lynn Townsend of Arlington, TX, daughter Jamie Royal and son-in-law Ben Royal and their three children, Madelyn, Hayden, and Hunter from York, NE, son Michael Brownfield and his two children, Jameson and Blayke of Elkhorn, NE, sister-in-law Karen Griffeth of Edmond, OK, brother-in-law Harlan (Susan) Coit of Naples, FL, brother-in-law Dr. Bert Briscoe of Edmond, OK, and several nieces and nephews.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Memorials are suggested to The Fellowship of Christian Athletes or Cozad Country Club. Brownie's wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at Cozad United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Gahn officiating. There will be no visitation or book signing.

Joe Dale Malone, 62 of Ogallala, NE, passed away Friday, July 29th, 2022 in Julesburg, Colorado.

Joe was born on December 29, 1959, in Imperial NE to Iona Appleby and Dwight Hogsett and later adopted by Jack Malone. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Joe was educated in Hastings NE.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; On July 29th 1977 he was united in marriage to Vickie L. Conrady and to this union 4 children were born: Jeremy, Troy, and twin girls Megan and Jamie. Joe worked in construction and carpentry. He had several side businesses as well. He loved motorcycles, especially&nbsp;Harley Davidsons. Joe also loved stock car racing and the demo derby. In his free time, he enjoyed going to the mountains.

Joe is survived by his 4 children, Jeremy Malone of North Platte, Troy Malone of Roscoe, Megan (Beau) Johnson of Hildreth, Jamie Malone of Ogallala; his life partner Teri Hunter and her daughter Desiray of Julesburg, Co; his mother Iona Malone of Dalton, GA; 2 sisters Pam Neal of Ogallala; Bonnie White of Dalton, GA; Grandkids Trent, Addison and Aubree Malone of Ogallala; Landon Dillenburg and Emery Malone of Ogallala; Levi and Sadie Johnson of Hildreth, NE; his 4 legged companion, Smokie along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

N. “Wayne” Spangler, age 79 of Ogallala, Nebraska, died at his home July 25th, 2022.

N. Wayne Spangler was born February 13, 1943 in Ogallala to Robert and Erma (Hughes) Spangler.&nbsp; He attended school in Ogallala.

Wayne married Carleen Condreay on June 27th 1970 at the Ogallala First United Methodist Church.&nbsp; Wayne and Carleen made their home in Ogallala, Nebraska.

Wayne was retired from the Farmers Co-op where he had worked at both the Brule and Ogallala Elavators.&nbsp; He did various duties and had been a propane delivery truck driver most recently.

Wayne was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ogallala; and Big Mac Fly Fishing Club.

Wayne is survived by his daughter, Carla (Joey) Anderson of Meridian, ID; son, Tim Condreay of Kuna, ID; two brothers, Michael (Linda) Spangler of Ogallala, and Lloyd (Sue) Spangler of Norfolk, NE; three grandchildren-Jason (Crystal) Anderson of Ogden UT, John Anderson of Parker CO, Jina (Broc) Whipple of Meridian, ID; 5 great-grandchildren- Mckynzee, Sydnie, Brianna, Kerrick and Cole; and a sister-in-law- Sherilynn Spangler.&nbsp;&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carleen in 2021; two brothers, Tim and Gerald (Gerry) Spangler and a sister, Doris Hirsch.

Eugene “Gene” George Shada, 90 years of age, of Lexington, formerly of Ansley, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Lexington Regional Health Center.

Gene was born on November 13, 1931, in Kearney, Nebraska to Simon and Lillian Shada. He grew up in Ansley, Nebraska working alongside his family for the Shada’s general merchandise store. While attending school his favorite pastime was playing football. He graduated from Ansley High School with the class of 1950. Gene joined the Nebraska National Guard when he was 19 years of age and served for a few years until his honorable discharge. He then began working for the U. S. Geological Survey and traveling where he was needed for this job until returning to his roots in merchandise. Gene spent most of his life working in the grocery business, early on he was an assistant manager travelling to different stores until 1972 when he moved back to his hometown of Ansley and took over the family store. Shada’s Market was in the family for 75 years before his retirement in 1996. While living in Ansley he was an active community member participating and serving in Rotary Club, Volunteer Fire Department, the school board and hosting foreign exchange students, along with many other organizations. Gene was united in marriage to Rose Ferzoli on October 4, 1981, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. After their retirement they moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he worked for the Riviera Casino until Rose’s passing in 2005, he then moved back home to Nebraska to be closer to his children and family. Gene loved to travel, he enjoyed sports, especially football, and loved to tell stories about his life experiences. He liked to make people laugh and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Gene is survived by his children, Michael (Marie) Shada of Broken Bow; Cynthia (Shane) Schmidt of Lexington; Bryan (Cheryl) Frerichs of McDonough, GA; Jeanne (Randy) Pierce of Lincoln; Rob (Linda) Bullis of Lexington; Kevin (Nancy) Bullis of Elwood; twenty grandchildren (plus fifteen spouses); twenty-six great grandchildren; his brother Wayne (Jeanne) Shada of Scotts Valley, CA; two brothers-in-law, Elias Ferzoli and Joe Ferzoli and three sisters-in-law, Selma Frieha, Josafein Salloum, and Maria Ferzoli all of Canada; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. &nbsp; RIKY DEAN ROGERS, 73, of Ogallala, NE, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at his home in Ogallala. Rik was born June 25, 1949, in Syracuse, Kansas, to Burl and Julia "Fern" (Strobridge) Rogers. Riky grew up in Leota, KS, where he attended Leota High School. He subsequently attended a vocational tech school at Goodland, KS, where he studied construction. On November 9, 1968, Riky married Constance "Connie" Day. In the fall of 1970, he entered the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam. Following his discharge, Riky and his family resided in Sterling, CO, where he worked at a TV Repair Shop. The family later moved to Ogallala, where Riky worked for an irrigation company, local farmers, and on the construction of Gerald Gentleman Station in Sutherland, before taking a job with OEMI (later, Arnold Engineering) as a machinist. In 1991, Riky and Connie moved to Dodge City, KS, where he worked as a machinist for the gearbox manufacturer Curtis Machine. The couple returned to Ogallala in 2019 to be closer to family. Riky enjoyed woodworking, cooking, fishing, and camping when he got the chance. He served as a Cub Scout leader while in Ogallala, which was something that he really enjoyed.

Riky was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ronnie, Burl Jr., Kenny, and Lelan. Survivors include his wife, Connie of Ogallala; children, Ricky Dean and wife, Breanna Rogers Jr. of Ogallala, Melissa, and husband, Tom Haynes of Grant, Bret Allen Rogers of Grant; grandchildren, Heather, Kelly, Jessica, Cody, Dylan, Brian, Vincent, and Zachary; sisters, LaVerne Matney and Stella Hutton; along with many other relatives and friends. Darrell Dean Leibhart was born on February 12, 1958, at Callaway, NE to June R. and Illeen (Hammans) Leibhart.&nbsp; Darrell grew up in the community of Callaway and graduated from Callaway High School in 1976.&nbsp; Darrell went to work for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad shortly after graduating from high school.&nbsp; He worked for the railroad for 40 years.&nbsp; Darrell was married to Kathy McPeak in 1993.&nbsp; The family lived in Alliance for a short time, then in Arizona.&nbsp; They moved to Mullen in 2005.&nbsp; Darrell retired from the railroad in 2018.&nbsp; He took a full month of retirement before taking a new job at the Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home as the head of maintenance.&nbsp; He greatly enjoyed this job and retired when it closed.&nbsp; In Darrell’s free time he enjoyed working in his garden, mowing, and ice fishing.&nbsp; Darrell is survived by his loving wife Kathy of Mullen, his son Darren (significant other Abbigail Terry) of Lincoln, his three daughters, Kasey (Nate) Simonson, Karrie Leibhart, and Lynelle Leibhart, all of Lincoln.&nbsp; Darrell is also survived by six grandchildren,&nbsp; his brother Gary (Josie) Leibhart of North Platte and a sister Karen Dodge of North Platte. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Deanna Harriman.

Gerald Lee Wilson, 74, of North Platte, NE passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on July 14, 1948 in North Platte, NE the son of Hubert and Ellen (Lupo) Wilson. Gerald graduated from South High School in Denver, CO, class of 1967.&nbsp; He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966-68 in Vietnam.&nbsp; He was a three-time purple heart recipient and a proud veteran.&nbsp; He married Sheila Griggs on December 14, 1968 in Littleton, CO and were blessed with three sons, James (Jimmy), Rich, and Joshua.&nbsp; Gerald worked for the City of North Platte for many years in the sanitation department retiring in 1986.&nbsp; Following retirement, he enjoyed helping feed the hungry and delivered food for the Salvation Army.&nbsp; He would do anything for anyone, was very selfless, giving, and proud of his sons.&nbsp; He also loved his daughter-in-law and grandchildren.

Those left to cherish Gerald’s memory are his mom, Ellen; sons, Richard (Renee) Wilson of North Platte, and the Rev. Gerald Lee Wilson (1948-2022)

Norma Kay Henry, age 85 of Cozad, Nebraska, passed away Monday, July 25, 2022, at the Cozad Community Hospital.&nbsp; Norma, the second of seven children of Harold and Geraldine (Griffin) Clark, was born in Bertrand, Nebraska, January 30, 1937.&nbsp; She graduated with the Class of 1954 from Elwood High School.&nbsp; On August 8, 1954, Norma married Daniel B. Henry Jr. in Elwood, Nebraska.&nbsp; Their union was blessed with four sons; Rick, Danny, Chris and Jon. They lived in Lexington, California and rural Cozad before making their permanent home in Cozad.

Norma worked several jobs before finishing her working career at Monroe Auto in the shipping department for 37 years.&nbsp; She was involved with the Cozad Blazerettes and Dawson County Crimestoppers.&nbsp; Norma was an extremely hard worker and born caretaker.&nbsp; She enjoyed quilting, baking, reading and gardening just to name a few.&nbsp; Norma’s favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family and friends.&nbsp; She loved attending her grandkids activities, going to and hosting large family gatherings and bargain shopping.&nbsp; Norma was a wonderful cook and baker and was famous in the family for her tacos, fried chicken, monkey meat sandwiches, pies, dinner rolls and anything she canned.&nbsp; For the past few years one of the main events was grape jelly making at her house with anyone who could attend.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather Ray Phillips; husband Daniel Henry Jr; son Danny Henry; sisters and brother-in-law’s, Charlotte Wence, Twyla (Allan) Phillips, Connie (Jack) Reeves and Bette Mae (Fred) Carlson and brother, Charles Clark.&nbsp; Survivors include; sons, Rick (Wendy) Henry of Eustis, Chris (Nancy) Henry of Lincoln and Jon (Denise) Henry of Deshler; 8 grandchildren, Silke, Mindy, Zach, Ross, Cuyler, Matt, Carly and Gavin; 16 great grandchildren; sister Linda (James) Carlson; brother-in-law George Wence; sister-in-law Sandy Clark and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Services will be held Monday, August 1, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ on Newell with Harvey Pierce officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. David Owen Dunham, age 76, of Bennington, KS passed away Monday, July 25, 2022 in Bennington.

Dave was born July 24, 1946 in Los Angeles County, CA to parents Robert and Winifried (Spies) Dunham.&nbsp; Dave was raised by his loving guardians, Gene and Ruth Kruger.&nbsp;&nbsp; Dave graduated from Elkhorn High School in Elkhorn, NE with the class of 1964.&nbsp; While in high&nbsp;school, he was active in track and football, earning both an academic and football scholarship to further his education at Doane College in Crete, NE.&nbsp; Dave completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1969 and was a member of Phi Alpha Theta at Doane.&nbsp;&nbsp; David married Cathy (Ward) Dunham on January 28, 1980 in Las Vegas, NV.&nbsp; The couple was blessed with three sons: Jeremy, Nathan and Joshua.&nbsp; Dave enjoyed a rewarding career in education, teaching and coaching at Bellevue High School, McCook High School, Scotts City High School, Guymon High School, Salina South High School and Bennington High School before retiring in 2009.&nbsp; He also ran a successful lawn care business, Dunham’s Lush Lawn, until the time of his passing.&nbsp;&nbsp;

David Dunham (1946-2022)

&nbsp; &nbsp; Jim “Mr. Jim” Gollehon, age 75, of Lebanon, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 26, 2022 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE. Jim Morris Gollehon was born on February 11, 1947 to Durwood and Mary Ann (Parson) Gollehon in O’Neill, Nebraska, two days later they moved to Lebanon, NE. He attended Lebanon, NE as well as Morehead City, NC school systems his whole life, graduating from Morehead City High School in 1964.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Jim was inducted into the United States Army on November 15, 1966. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam and at the time of his honorable discharge on November 14, 1968, he had been awarded multiple awards and citations, a few being the National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal with a Bronze Service Star, etc, most in which he never discussed. Jim was a proud Vietnam Army Veteran and continued to serve as a very active lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion in his communities.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Jim returned to Morehead City after proudly serving his country and began a career with Guy C. Lee Lumber, Morehead City, NC, that would span more than 30+ years. He married his best friend and soul mate, Shawn Earnest on January 2, 1998. Jim and Shawn moved to Lebanon, Nebraska in 2007, to his multigenerational family homestead, which they took (years) and pride in restoring. He continued to impress those around him as a multitalented musician. He even recorded a 45 record with his band, Huckleberry Mudflaps! He loved teaching family and friends, as well as many others, to play music. He will be fondly remembered for his love of listening to and playing music by the Eagles.

&nbsp; &nbsp; He was preceded in death by his father, Durwood Gollehon; mother, Mary Ann Hentschel; and brother, Charles Hentschel Jr.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Shawn Gollehon; of Lebanon, NE; his sons: Jim (Rhonda) Gollehon and William (Sheila Atwood) Gollehon of Newport, NC; his daughters: Patricia (Kevin) Watkins and Mary (Brittain) Robinson of Kingsport, TN. stepdaughters, Brenda (Josh) Tuberville of Morehead City, NC and Teresa (Melvin Willis Jr) Erb of Beaufort, NC; 12 grandchildren and two great- grandchildren that were his pride and joy; sister, Georgia (Gollehon) Ballou as well as his uncle, John “Johnny” Parson.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Jim chose cremation and a graveside memorial service with Military Honors, that took place at 2PM, Sunday afternoon, July 31, 2022 at the Lebanon Cemetery in Lebanon, Nebraska. A memorial service in NC is TBD at a later date.

Jim M. Gollehon (1947-2022)

On July 27, 2022, at the age of 96, Maxine Griffin peacefully passed away while residing at Linden Court in North Platte, NE.

Maxine was one of six children born to William and Mabel Wilson. She was born September 12, 1925, in Sutherland where she grew up. After graduating from Sutherland High School in 1944, Maxine moved to Long Beach, CA, to be with her family and there she attended junior college for two years then went on to graduate from St. Vincent's College of Nursing in 1950. She worked in the O.B. Dept. at St. Vincent's for a short time then moved to North Platte where she worked in the operating room at St. Mary's Hospital. Maxine continued her nursing career until she became a mother. On August 23, 1952, Maxine was united in marriage to John 'Jack' Griffin at the Catholic Church in Paxton. They lived on Jack's aunt's farm for 11 years and during this time five children were born. The Griffin family moved to a farm in Wellington, CO, in 1962 where Maxine and Jack lived for 54 years. Jack farmed and worked in the animal science department at C.S.U. and Maxine returned to nursing at Weld County General Hospital where she worked as a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery for four years. She eventually became an instructor in the L.P.N. Program at the local junior college and taught nursing classes for 13 years before taking the job as Assistant Head Nurse on the Surgical Unit at the V.A. Hospital in Cheyenne, WY. Maxine retired from nursing in 1991. She loved what she did and always wanted to be a nurse. After Jack retired the following year, they bought a motor home and traveled as far as Alaska and wintered in Arizona for over 20 years. They returned to Nebraska in 2016 and lived in North Platte where they were members of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Maxine and Jack were married for nearly 67 years when he passed away in 2019. Maxine belonged to many committees, was president of the Wellington Senior Center for four years, and when her children were young she was a 4-H leader. Maxine enjoyed her family and her many activities.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her parents, William and Mabel Wilson; and all her siblings, Villa Kennedy, Emory, Darle and Merle Wilson and Shirley Lyles. Maxine is survived by her children, Cindy (Dennis) Burton of North Platte, John Griffin, of Arkansas, Dave (Jodi) Griffin and James Griffin of Fort Collins, CO, and Michael Griffin of New Port Richey, FL; grandchildren, Angela (Alex) Barton, Eric (Ursula) Burton, Matthew Griffin, Travis (Erin) Griffin, Nathan (Amy) Griffin, Jeremy (Anna) Griffin and Kyle Griffin; 12 great-grandchildren; a great great-granddaughter; 3 step great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, RoseAnn Tridle, of Rapid City, SD; and other family.

Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Odean Colonial Chapel with Father Sagar officiating. Burial will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery.  </figure>On July 27, 2022, at the age of 96, Maxine Griffin peacefully passed away while residing at Linden Court in North Platte, NE.Maxine was one of six children born to William and Mabel Wilson. She was born September 12, 1925, in Sutherland where she grew up. After graduating from Sutherland High School in 1944, Maxine moved to Long Beach, CA, to be with her family and there she attended junior college for two years then went on to graduate from St. Vincent's College of Nursing in 1950. She worked in the O.B. Dept. at St. Vincent's for a short time then moved to North Platte where she worked in the operating room at St. Mary's Hospital. Maxine continued her nursing career until she became a mother. On August 23, 1952, Maxine was united in marriage to John 'Jack' Griffin at the Catholic Church in Paxton. They lived on Jack's aunt's farm for 11 years and during this time five children were born. The Griffin family moved to a farm in Wellington, CO, in 1962 where Maxine and Jack lived for 54 years. Erick Willard Pearson, 90, of Brady, NE died July 26, 2022, at Norfolk Veterans Home, Norfolk, NE.

He was born January 12, 1932 in Gothenburg, NE, son of Hilding and Hanna (Nilsson) Pearson. Willard graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1949. In 1954-1955, Willard served in the 76th Engineer Battalion of the 34th Regiment in the United States Army during the Korean Police Action. After his honorable discharge, he returned home to farm and ranch with his dad in Wild Horse Valley by Brady, NE. On August 7, 1960, Willard and Esther Carolyn Foster were united in marriage and they were blessed with four children: Mary, Richard, Edward, and Ruth. During their marriage, Willard and Carolyn continued to live on the farm raising their four children and welcoming six grandchildren. Willard and Carolyn enjoyed 53 years of wedded bliss until Carolyn went to be with the Lord in 2013. Willard lived on the ranch from 1943 until entering the Veterans Home in March of 2022. Willard was known for his humor and kindness. He always answered the question, "How are you?" with "I am good-looking". Willard was always willing to help out a neighbor in need and enjoyed visiting with anyone he came in contact with. He had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and love for his family.

Survivors include two sons, Richard (Sharon) Pearson,&nbsp;Edward (Catherine) Pearson; two daughters, Mary (Douglas) Hartman, Ruth (Toby) White; grandchildren Joshua and Brooke Hartman, Trina Pearson, Aleah, Calia and Zakary White, and&nbsp;sister, Hildur Malm&nbsp;and several nieces and nephews.&nbsp; Willard was preceded in death by wife, Carolyn, parents Hanna and&nbsp;Hilding Pearson, infant brothers, Harold&nbsp;and Gunnar, brother-in-law Duane Malm,&nbsp; nephew Leonard Malm and niece Carrie Gallington.

Dolores Irene Rice Mandeville was born January 4, 1926, at her grandparent’s home in Blaine County Nebraska to Charles Adelbert Patrick Henry and Willa Mildred Rice. She attended kindergarten through eighth grade at West Union School.&nbsp; Following grade school, she attended Dunning High School, graduating as class valedictorian in 1944. Her education continued in Denver, Colorado, at Central Business College.&nbsp;She worked in bookkeeping and secretarial positions, often at local schools and banks, during her early married years. &nbsp;&nbsp; Dolores married John James Mandeville on November 29, 1947. Their angel food wedding cake was made from sixty egg whites. To this union were born two children, Ruth Marie and John James, Jr. &nbsp;Son Henry Robert joined the family in his early teenage years.&nbsp; Dolores was a devout member of the Episcopal Church and a member of many organizations. Those included Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of Union Veterans, the Order of Eastern Star, the Edmund Rice Society, and Episcopal Church Women. She also joined Extension Club, Bridge Club, and Garden Club during her lifetime. She adored her coffee group and church family. Although renowned for her angel food cakes, sugar cookies, “Grandma” rolls (butter horns), and jellies, her passion was genealogical research.&nbsp; Connecting family ties with those who came before was one of her greatest legacies. She loved her family, and we will miss this strong, witty woman we called our mother and grandmother.&nbsp;

Preceding Dolores in death were her parents, husband John, son Hank, siblings Barbara Strand, Donald Rice, Allen Rice, and great-grandsons Alec Stromer and Chase Mandeville. Harold E. Bennett, age 89, of McCook, NE passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022 at Hillcrest Caring Center in McCook with family by his side. Harold was born May 19, 1933 in Litchfield, NE to parents Harry Lee and Florence M. (Farnsworth) Bennett. He was the second of four brothers who grew up in Litchfield, attending school and graduating from Litchfield High School in 1950. On July 1, 1951, Harold married the love of his life, Margaret “Patty” M. (McMahan) Bennett in Litchfield. The couple had six children: Tim, Daylene, Tom, Terry, Tony, and Todd. They were blessed with getting to celebrate their 71st wedding anniversary together in 2022. Harold attended Nebraska State Teachers College at Kearney where he received many accolades for playing basketball while obtaining his Bachelor's of Arts in Education. He later received his Master's Degree from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln in Education Administration. He began his teaching career in Arapahoe later moving to Elm Creek and Imperial where he taught biology and history. He had a passion for helping his students and loved being able to also coach many of them in football, basketball, and track and field. Later in his career he moved into administration becoming principal and superintendent in Elm Creek and Imperial. In 1971 he and his family made McCook their home when he became the Superintendent of McCook Public Schools. Harold retired from McCook Schools in 1993, after serving 46 years in education, 22 years in McCook. Harold lived his life believing that a teacher was God's gift to children. In retirement, he remained active in education. In 1996 he was elected to the Board of Governors of Mid-Plains Community College serving 2 four-year terms. During his time, he was elected vice chairman of the board and served his last two years as chairman. Harold was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church as well as an active member of the McCook Rotary Club. Throughout his career he was a member of many educational organizations including Nebraska School Masters Club and the Big Ten Superintendents Club. He was also on the Nebraska State Education Association serving on the Board of Directors. He loved to spend time outdoors, fishing, camping, and gardening and caring for his lawn. In the last few years of his life, he and Patty made their home at Kinship Pointe Senior Home in McCook. Patty and Harold’s strong love was felt throughout the family. They loved being able to spend time and travel with their kids, grandkids and great grandchildren. Those moments together with their family gave them the most joy in life. Harold and his brothers also had a tight bond throughout life. In retirement they and their wives frequently traveled across the United States in their RVs together.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tim Bennett; son in law, Pete Burger; and his two brothers, Roger Bennett and Paul Bennett. Harold E. Bennett (1933-2022)

Russell "Toby" L. Roenfeldt, age 77 of Cozad, passed away Monday, July 25, 2022 with his family by his side in Centennial, Colorado. Toby was born June 2, 1945 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Russell and Edna (Ardnt) Roenfeldt. He grew up in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island High School in 1963 and then went on to graduate from Grand Island Business School in 1966. Toby met his first wife, Beatrice (Jensen) and to this union, 2 children were born, Scott and Wendy. He then met his second wife Patsy (Batie) and to this union, 2 more children were born, Todd and Nick. The family resided in Cozad, NE and Toby went to work at Sperry New Holland, Video Kingdom, Tri City Tribune and Berryman Funeral Home. Toby enjoyed fishing, hunting, his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his fur babies but nothing made him happier than his cocktail hours on the deck. &nbsp;Surviving Toby are his four children, Scott (Dedee) Roenfeldt of Centennial, CO; Wendy (Jason) Last of Shubert, NE; Todd (Tjaden) Roenfeldt of Grand Island, NE; and Nick (Brandy) Roenfeldt of Harlan, IA; 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; brother Robert (Connie) Roenfeldt of Cozad, NE; sister Sharon Call of Cozad, NE, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Toby was preceded in death by his parents Russ and Edna, brother Richard, second wife Patsy, niece Michelle and grandson CJ.

Toby chose cremation and there will be a Celebration of Life Memorial Service on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Berryman Funeral Home. There will be a casual get together after the service at a place yet to be determined.

 </figure>Russell "Toby" L. Roenfeldt, age 77 of Cozad, passed away Monday, July 25, 2022 with his family by his side in Centennial, Colorado. Toby was born June 2, 1945 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Russell and Edna (Ardnt) Roenfeldt. He grew up in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island High School in 1963 and then went on to graduate from Grand Island Business School in 1966. Toby met his first wife, Beatrice (Jensen) and to this union, 2 children were born, Scott and Wendy. He then met his second wife Patsy (Batie) and to this union, 2 more children were born, Todd and Nick. The family resided in Cozad, NE and Toby went to work at Sperry New Holland, Video Kingdom, Tri City Tribune and Berryman Funeral Home. Toby enjoyed fishing, hunting, his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his fur babies but nothing made him happier than his cocktail hours on the deck. &nbsp;Surviving Toby are his four children, Scott (Dedee) Roenfeldt of Centennial, CO; Wendy (Jason) Last of Shubert, NE; Todd (Tjaden) Roenfeldt of Grand Island, NE; and Nick (Brandy) Roenfeldt of Harlan, IA; 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; brother Robert (Connie) Roenfeldt of Cozad, NE; sister Sharon Call of Cozad, NE, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Russell "Toby" Roenfeldt (1945-2022)

Brian H. Horst 72, of North Platte, NE passed away peacefully on July 26, 2022, after a three-year battle with pancreatic cancer.

Brian was born and raised by a devoted family in Wisner, NE. After high school, he made his way to Doane College, majoring in Education, and met his wife of 50 years, Mary Lynn. Following graduation, Brian and Mary Lynn moved to North Platte, where their daughter, Laura Lynn, was born. Brian was not only known to the North Platte community as an educator and elementary school principal but also as an entertainer that made us all love music and theatre. He performed in over 30 musicals at the North Platte Community Playhouse, sang with Four-in-a-Chord, was a member of Heartland Singers, was a soloist at numerous funerals, and sang with the First United Methodist Church Choir. He served his community through Kiwanis, The Elks Club, Rotary, North Platte Community Concert Association, and the Mid Nebraska Community Foundation. He served his church through numerous committees, offices, and the establishment of the columbarium. Retiring after 35 years of education and guiding North Platte youth and mentoring numerous teachers, Brian worked for Carpenters and Adams &amp; Swanson Funeral homes. His personality brought comfort and peace to many. Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Delores Horst, and his in-laws, Irvin and Garneta Bauerle. Brian is survived by his wife, Mary Lynn, daughter, Laura Lynn Horst, sisters, Jean (Dale) Christensen, Joyce (Larry) Raabe, Lori (David) Kohler, his in-laws Marcia Ann (Jim) Lindau, Marla Kaye (Terry) Hill, Mike (Jill) Bauerle, Bill (Marcia) Bauerle, Margaret (Jeff) Nelson, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Patsy Lee Redfern (1930-2022)

June Mikoloyck, 92, of Oshkosh passed away Monday evening, July 25, 2022 at the Regional West Garden County Nursing Home in Oshkosh.

A funeral liturgy will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2022 at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Oshkosh with Deacon Dixon Powers officiating.&nbsp; Inurnment will follow in St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Cemetery. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the church. Memorials in June’s name can be made to St. Elizabeth’s Altar Society. June Mikoloyck, the daughter of Orvie and Dorothy (Larington) Newell was born June 19, 1930, Northwest of Oshkosh in a Sod House across the Creek in Garden County, Nebraska.&nbsp; She attended school in Garden County and worked at George Thompson’s Drug Store. She met her husband, Harold Mikoloyck, at a dance and on November 17, 1946 they were married in Denver, Colorado. Later they moved to the Oshkosh farm where they were blessed with six children: Larry, Rich, Jolene, Janie, Michael, and Julianne.

June dedicated her life to raising her children. She also had a heart for entertaining friends and family, where she got to host the card club while serving her famous bread. She found joy in cooking not for herself but for others, as she became a substitute cook for Garden County High School. Other than baking her famous Cherry pie, Kolaches, or her Fried Chicken she was also known to have a bountiful orchard and garden. She answered God’s calling to help and serve others, as she would invite friends and neighbors to enjoy the fruits of the garden. Besides being a generous neighbor, June taught CCD classes and was an active member of the Altar Society at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, and the Red Hat Society. As a grandmother to her 13 grandchildren, she was always there to spoil them with her homemade ice cream and chocolate sauce. Her love and dedication to them was unwavering, no matter how many kids were running around her house. She was kind, generous and always had her doors open to them and chocolate pudding ready for breakfast.

She is dearly missed by her two sisters, Alice Lee Patterson and DeeAnna Schmid of Oshkosh, NE; three sons, Larry Mikoloyck and his wife Jackie of North Platte, NE; Richard Mikoloyck and Cathy of Oshkosh, NE; Mike Mikoloyck and his wife Becky of Albuquerque, NM; and three daughters, Jolene Matson of Aurora, CO; Janie Reeves and husband Jon of Kennard, NE; and Julianne Christensen and husband Andy of Seward, NE; and 13 grandchildren Matthew Mikoloyck, Duggan Matson, Samara Matson, Nicholas Mikoloyck, Mike Fought, Candace Hall, Kyle Reeves, Zachery Mikoloyck, Ashley Mikoloyck, Alexa Hansen, Kelsey Christensen, McKenzie Christensen, and Callen Christensen; 14 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. Roger "David" Ramos (1966-2022)

Rodger Earll Jr, 54, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died Friday, July 22, 2022 at his home in Gothenburg, Nebraska.

Rodger was born Monday, August 28, 1967, in Colorado Springs, CO, the son of Rodger Dale Earll Sr. and Cheryl Earll. He grew up in Gothenburg, where he attended Gothenburg Public Schools and he enjoyed playing football with his friends. Rodger worked various jobs but really enjoyed operating heavy equipment with his brothers, Mike Earll and Kevin (Heather) Earll. Rodger always looked up to his sister; Deanna (Dee) and her husband Brad. Rodger was always there for his friends and family whenever they needed him.

Rodger’s children, who are fun, loving, and stubborn just like their dad, include Tory and Adrian Linden of Lincoln, NE, Samantha Jo Earll of Lincoln, NE, Shanee and Tanner Earll of Kearney, NE, and Ryan Earll. His grandkids include Ryker Jordan, Harley Dale, Baylee Alyce Swae, Abbie Rose, Aedan Alan, and Leerykk Renea Baylii, whom he loved and cared for deeply. Rodger‘s nieces and nephews are Ainsley Swan, Brittney Earll, Dirk Earll, Tyler Miller, Trayven Miller, Tarynn Miller, Titus Earll and Zada Earll, along with great nieces and nephews.

Rodger was preceded in death by his wife Kanda, his grandma; Bev Earll, his grandpa; Kenneth Earll and a grandpa; Floyd Murray.

While he was staying in Lincoln with Samantha and Ryker they enjoyed going to rodeos, grilling, going to concerts, and teaching Ryker how to ride a bike. In Rodger’s spare time he loved hanging out with friends, going fishing, always enjoyed spending time with family, going to sweat lodges, watching his brother Mike drive stock car and every now and then having a beer with his brother Kevin. Due to some health issues, Rodger wanted to spend each day to the fullest and his last few weeks he enjoyed watching fireworks, going camping, having fire pits, and enjoyed laughs with his family and friends.&nbsp; Rodger wants to encourage everyone to be kind and always help one another, to let go of hard feelings and love each other. Most of all keep your faith in our Lord. Romans 12:20.&nbsp;

On July 30, 2022 there will be a family led graveside service at Peckham cemetery, south of Gothenburg at 11 AM, a celebration of life has been chosen and will be held from 12 to 5 PM located at 618 Avenue B; Rodger’s dad’s shop, and a light meal will be served.

Rodger Earll Jr. (1967-2022)

CarolJean Garland of Grand Island, NE, passed away on July 23, 2022 after a lengthy battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was 78 years old. CarolJean was born in Valentine on August 12, 1943 and was the youngest of 2 daughters born to Wayne and Mary Lou Woods.

CarolJean attended Littleburg Elementary School, where her father was the teacher. She graduated in 1961 from Valentine High School. She was attending Lincoln School of Commerce when she met Jerry Garland. After a short courtship, the couple married on November 11, 1962. To this marriage they were blessed with 3 children: David, Steve and Marcia. After living in various places, they moved to Valentine in 1973 where they stayed until 1985. After leaving Valentine they resided in several locations before settling in Grand Island so they could be closer to their daughter, Marci and her family.&nbsp; CarolJean loved that she was able to be a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. In her spare time she enjoyed baking, sewing clothes for her family and quilting. She and her good friend, Linda Jordan, embarked on a small wallpapering and painting business for several years in Valentine. She also followed her mother’s footsteps and was a 50 year member of Eastern Star at the Masonic Temple in Valentine.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her son David and her parents Wayne and MaryLou. She is survived by her husband Jerry of Grand Island, son Steve (Kimberly Merlino) of Simpsonville, KY, daughter Marci (Bob Earll) of Grand Island; 5 grandchildren, Jake Garland (Jennifer) of Princeton TX, Ross Garland (Lauren) of Omaha, Kaylee Garland of Minneapolis, Alex Earll (girlfriend Gabby) of Wanaka New Zealand, Katie Niss (Kent) of Pawnee City; 7 great grandchildren, Jinjer, Jiana (Jake’s), Sean, Willow, Jack (Ross’s), Eleanor and Roseanne (Katie’s); her sister Barb Scallan of West Monroe, LA; and a host of nieces and nephews and their families.

Funeral service, officiated by Pastor Scott McClellen will be graveside only at Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine on Saturday, July 30th, at 11:00AM. A small gathering and luncheon will be held at the Masonic Temple following the service.&nbsp;

She is survived by her husband Jerry of Grand Island, son Steve (Kimberly Merlino) of Simpsonville, KY, daughter Marci (Bob Earll) of Grand Island; 5 grandchildren, Jake Garland (Jennifer) of Princeton TX, Ross Garland (Lauren) of Omaha, Kaylee Garland of Minneapolis, Alex Earll (girlfriend Gabby) of Wanaka New Zealand, Katie Niss (Kent) of Pawnee City; 7 great grandchildren, Jinjer, Jiana (Jake’s), Sean, Willow, Jack (Ross’s), Eleanor and Roseanne (Katie’s); her sister Barb Scallan of West Monroe, LA; and a host of nieces and nephews and their families.Funeral service, officiated by Pastor Scott McClellen will be graveside only at Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine on Saturday, July 30th, at 11:00AM. A small gathering and luncheon will be held at the Masonic Temple following the service.&nbsp;In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to “The Order of Eastern Star” in Valentine.

CarolJean Garland (1943-2022)

&nbsp; Obern 'Cody' Reynolds, the son of Larry and Janet (Groff) Reynolds, was born at Sutherland on January 26, 1972.&nbsp; He passed away in North Platte in May of 2022 at the age of 50. Cody grew up on a ranch north of Stapleton and attended high school at Stapleton and Maxwell.&nbsp; He moved to Texas and became skilled at doing countertop work and installation.&nbsp; When he returned to Nebraska in 2004, Cody worked for West Company in Kearney and also laid carpet with his cousin.&nbsp; He enjoyed working with his hands. Cody had two daughters, Alaina and Chantell.&nbsp; He married Katie Skalka in Las Vegas and they later divorced.&nbsp; He liked to fish and had a love for Weimaraners and Jeeps. Cody was taken from us too soon and will be missed. He is survived by his father, Larry Reynolds of North Platte, and brother, Patrick Reynolds of Minnesota; aunts, Belle Gard of Helena, MT, and Penny Reynolds Kramer of North Platte; and his close cousins.&nbsp; Survivors also include Alaina and her husband, Tristian Jacobs, and their children, Briley and Clay, all of Smith Center, KS. He was preceded in death by his mother, Janet, and infant daughter, Chantell. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Nellie Gentry passed away on July 22, 2022 in North Platte at Centennial Park Retirement Village.&nbsp; She was born June 10, 1926 in Brownlee, NE to Catherine (Beers) and John Galligher.&nbsp; Nellie was the youngest of 9 children.&nbsp; She was a member of the United Methodist Church and was baptized in 1956.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Nellie married Edwin Gentry on December 22, 1945 and to this union 4 children were born.&nbsp; During her life she worked at Russell Stover’s Candy in Omaha and operated a café in Gordon, NE called the Sugar and Spice Café.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; After moving to Valentine, she worked at the Corner Bar for the Van Horns and other different owners.&nbsp; Nellie also cooked at the Buttercup Café, and cooked and waitressed at the Home Café.&nbsp; She later went to work at Henderson’s IGA for years until her health declined.&nbsp; Five years ago, Nellie moved to North Platte and lived in the Centennial Park Retirement Village where she passed away.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Nellie’s loves were her grandchildren and cooking cookies and pies for them.&nbsp; She also loved to sew, making garments and ponchos, and especially loved to do mending for people.&nbsp;&nbsp;

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; She leaves behind her daughter, Sandy (Earl) Sayer; grandchildren, Scott (Pam) and Patty (Jeremy); great grandchildren, Gentrie, Madison, James &amp; Jarrett, Chris, Neeley, Brooke, Hannah &amp; Harry; great great grandchildren, Charolette &amp; Carter.

Nellie Gentry (1926-2022)

Bonnetta C. Kemp, age 88, of Sargent and Seneca, passed peacefully July 22, 2022, under the care of the staff at the Rose Lane Home in Loup City, NE; where she had resided for the past 7 years.

Bonnetta Cleo (Edelman) Kemp was born on December 17, 1933, to William ‘Perl’ and Sylvia ‘Cleo’ (Miller) Edelman at her uncle’s home in Broken Bow, NE.&nbsp; She was the youngest of 8 siblings.&nbsp; She was raised in Seneca, NE and graduated from Seneca high school in 1950.&nbsp; Upon graduation, she worked for the Seneca Bank.&nbsp; She married Jack Leroy Kemp on May 11, 1952 in Seneca, NE.&nbsp; They began their life together in Hastings, NE.&nbsp; They both attended college in Des Moines, IA until her husband was drafted into the Army.&nbsp; Bonnetta returned to Seneca when her husband was drafted.&nbsp; They lived in Colorado Springs, CO until 1955 when they moved back to NE. Bonnetta and Jack moved their family to Mullen, NE in 1964.&nbsp; She raised 3 children while pursuing both a degree and career as an Accredited Medical Record Technician (AMRT).&nbsp; After she received her degree, she worked in the Mullen Hospital.&nbsp;&nbsp; The family re-located to Sargent, NE in 1976.&nbsp; Until retirement, she continued to expand her degree, working as a Director of Medical Records and a Medical Records Consultant in many hospitals across both NE and Kansas.&nbsp; She retired in 1999.

Bonnetta is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers (Clifford, Floyd, Louis, Leroy, Bob) and sisters (Adah James, Glendora Brenneman, Glenna Neumeyer). Bonnetta is survived by daughter Zonya Kemp, sons Monte, wife Julie; Loren, wife Sherry; grandsons Jed, Gavin, fiancée Caitlynn Gayle and Justin; granddaughter Shyla, husband Michael Luckey and great granddaughters Wren and Falun Luckey.&nbsp; She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
