Donely D. Brunner, 76, of 15 Lakeview Heights, Brule, Nebraska, 69127 passed away on June 9, 2024, at his home.

Don was born January 23, 1948, in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, the son of Edward Victor and Laura Irene (Carlson) Brunner. Don proudly served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Following his service, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines in 1974. He was also a member of the Theta Tau fraternity.

Don married Mary K. Perkins in Rapid City, South Dakota, and they celebrated 50 years of marriage last month.

Don's career spanned 44 years in the electric industry, always associated with rural electric systems. He worked as a Lineman with West River Electric in Rapid City, South Dakota, from 1967-1973. He then worked as a Project Engineer and Project Manager at Stanley Consultants in Muscatine, Iowa, from 1974-1984. After 27 years, Don retired as General Manager from High West Energy in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, in 2011. Don was also certified as a Professional Engineer in Iowa, Missouri, and Wyoming.

Don is survived by his wife, Mary K.; his children, Cari Brunner-Sughroue, Brian (Talitha) Brunner, Tessa (Brad) Fraass, and John (Kimberly) Brunner; brothers Bruce (Colleen), Gary (Aileen), Kevin (Charita), Dean (Julie) and sister Lana (Don) Couch, sisters-in-law; Lois (Bill) Cox, Trudy (Jeff) Perkins-Hines and Gloria Cook. Don had 12 grandchildren, three great-grandsons, many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, John and Imogene (Kosch) Perkins, brothers-in-law; John Perkins, Jack Cook, and nephew Benjamin Cox.

In lieu of flowers, in honor of Don's support in establishing a Powerline Construction and Maintenance Technology program through Western Nebraska Community College (Alliance, NE) a Don Brunner Lineman Scholarship Fund has been established. Donations can be made to the family or to High West Energy, PO Box 519, Pine Bluffs, WY 82082. The scholarship will be for a deserving candidate from our membership area.

Visitation will be on June 21 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Ogallala, Nebraska.

A private family graveside service will be held at the Pine Bluffs Cemetery in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming at 1:30 p.m., June 21, officiated by Pastor Dan DeBruyn. A community celebration for all friends and family to honor Don's life will be held after the graveside service at the Pine Bluffs Community Center from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming.

Don D. Brunner (1948-2024)

Rose Barry, 92, longtime Grant resident, passed away on June 8, 2024, at the Independence House at Coddington of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Rose was born on February 24, 1932, in Grant, Nebraska, to Christian "Chris" Gengenbach Jr. and Anna Schurr. She was the eighth of nine children. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church on July 10, 1932 and confirmed on June 3, 1945. She attended country school District 76 then went to Perkins County High School, graduating in 1949. She taught at the Sawyer school for one year and was then married to Jack Barry Jr. on April 30, 1950, at the Grant Methodist parsonage.

Jack and Rose lived in Paxton for a little more than a year, returning to Grant, where Jack worked at the Barry Produce Store for a few years. Rose was a stay-at-home mom until 1956, and then she was employed for three years at Goodall Manufacturing in Ogallala. She had an at-home daycare for several years, where she cared for many children before working at the Grant Elementary School as a para, which she did for 24 years. Rose was retired for a few years before working part-time as a librarian at Grant Elementary School for several years.

Over the years, she was a member of the Grant Cemetery Board, the Texas Trail, Pinochle Club, and Lutheran Ladies Aid, and participated in bowling and golfing leagues with Jack. A devoted homemaker, Rose was dedicated to her husband and family. She enjoyed traveling around the country with Jack to visit their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and attend their many events. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, and cooking. Most recently, Rose had been making her home in Lincoln.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Barry; siblings, Harold Gengenbach, Lillian Logsdon, Arlene Kurkowski, Dorothy Keuten, George Gengenbach, Daniel Gengenbach, and Eleanor Russell.

Survivors include her children, Barbara Barry (Tim Smith) of Danbury, Wisconsin, Patty (Mark) Jones of Lincoln, Mike (Jeannette) Barry of Wayne, Linda (Brian) Kirkpatrick of Plainfield, Illinois, Lana (Jeff) Knupp of Woodbury, Minnesota; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister, Anita Most of Ogallala; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Bruce Barrett (1937-2024)

Randy Beisner, 60, of Paxton, Nebraska sadly left us on June 7, 2024. He was born to Berdell Beisner and Betty Ferguson in Ogallala, Nebraska on May 2, 1964. He attended Republican Valley High School in Indianola, Nebraska. A Nebraska native, Randy has lived in several areas of Nebraska as well as Loveland, Colorado, and Panama City Beach, Florida.&nbsp;&nbsp;

In his younger days, he enjoyed hot rods, motorcycles, off-roading, boating, and being outdoors. As he became a father, he enjoyed spending time with family, camping, and fishing.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He has always loved drawing and listening to music, especially the 1960-1970s Billboard Hits and the companionship of animals. He is known for being a hard worker, a loyal friend, and being proud of his children.&nbsp;

He had a talent of being able to fix and build pretty much anything. He worked in several trades including heavy machinery, carpentry, welding, mechanical services, and construction, as well as owning a flooring and tiling business while living in Colorado.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

He recently settled back in Paxton with his brother Lonnie and helped build the Paxton School gym addition and worked at Becker Family Farms.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He is preceded in death by his mother, Betty, grandparents, and several uncles, aunts, and cousins. &nbsp;He leaves behind his father and stepmother Berdell and Mary Lou Beisner; brothers Lonnie Beisner, Bobby Beisner, and Raymond Beisner; children Shannon Breakiron, Tiffany Beisner, and Alex Beisner; grandchildren Brittney Shafer, Heather Shafer, Sam Renshaw, and Beck Renshaw; first wife Daisy Richardson; Uncle Glen Beisner and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.&nbsp;

His memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at Draucker Funeral Home Chapel in Ogallala and will be officiated by Rev. Mark Baldwin of The United Methodist Church of Paxton, NE.&nbsp;

At this time there is no plan for inurnment.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Randall R. Beisner (1964-2024)

Rodger W. Jensen, 83, of North Platte, NE passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at Great Plains Health Hospital. &nbsp;He was born on June 20, 1940 in Omaha, NE the son of William and Ella (Sorsen) Jensen.

Rodger graduated from Elkhorn High School, and served for a short time in the Marine Corps. &nbsp;He was hired with the Union Pacific railroad and worked for over thirty years as a general electrician foreman until retiring in 2000. &nbsp;He was married in 1978 to Reda Jean (Smith) Fischer in North Platte. Rodger always had an entrepreneurial spirit and ventured into several businesses. &nbsp;He purchased a semi tractor trailer and ran R &amp; R transportation along with his wife Reda until 2018. &nbsp; &nbsp;Rodger loved his pet dogs and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. &nbsp;He will be truly missed by his loved ones and friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Brad (Liz) Fischer of Eustis, Brian (Valerie) Fischer of Grand Island, and Gina (Tom) McGahan of Boys Town; grandchildren, Casey (Aaron), Matthew, Bryan, Brianna (Josh), Morgan (Noah), Sam, Robbie, and Amber; great grandchildren, Lauryn, Ryker, Kinley, and Barrett; sister, Barb (Darrell) Robinson; brothers, Gary (Karen) Jensen, and Bill Jensen; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Reda; and a grandson, Liam Fischer.&nbsp;

&nbsp; Marthaleen Rae "Marti" Parks peacefully passed away at her son's housein North Platte on June 9, 2024, at the age of 83. Marthaleen was born August 26, 1940, to Lloyd and Martha Empfield at Callaway, NE, where she grew up and graduated from high school.

On November 24, 1963, Marti married Loran Lee Parks at Callaway, NE. Since he was still serving in the U.S. Army, the couple began their life together living in Georgia.&nbsp; After his discharge they moved to Callaway, then North Platte.&nbsp; Marti was a stay-at-home mother to their three sons, David, Douglass and Darren.&nbsp; Marti and Loran were together for nearly 50 years when he passed away in 2013.

Marti loved bowling, gardening and especially dancing with Loran at several different dance halls.&nbsp; She attended services at Bethel Free Church and most recently, First Baptist Church.&nbsp; She also enjoyed volunteering at the hospital and Senior Center and was an active member of the North Platte Al-Anon.

Marti was a woman of Christ and devoted to her family.

Along with her husband, Marti was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Marjorie Eichelberger, Sharla Kaelin and Patsy Horn; her daughter-in-law, Betty; and infant grandson, Devon. She is survived by her sons, David and Douglass (Anna) of North Platte and Darren of Illinois; grandchildren, Bretton, Matthew, Christopher and Samara; her sister, Marilyn Waldron of Lincoln; and other family.

Marthaleen Rae "Marti" Parks (1940-2024) 

Ray Harmon Baldwin was born on July 30, 1934,&nbsp;in Imperial, Nebraska to Perry Harmon and Eva Lily (Surber) Baldwin. He attended several different&nbsp;schools during grades 1 through 8 and then completed 4 years at Chase County High School where he graduated in 1952. On August 16,&nbsp;1953,&nbsp;he married Doris Spady and ranched with his grandfather and father until he was drafted into the army in 1956. In 1958, he returned to Chase County to find that the ranch had been sold. He and Doris then moved to Sterling, Colorado where they built a new house and he worked at Phillips 66 and&nbsp;as&nbsp;an appliance dealer. During his 13 years in Sterling,&nbsp;they adopted three beautiful&nbsp;babies,&nbsp;and he&nbsp;participated&nbsp;in a&nbsp;country&nbsp;swing band. In 1972, the family moved to Arvada, Colorado where Ray worked for General Electric and retired&nbsp;after 23 years.&nbsp;In 1995, Ray and Doris moved to Hudson, Colorado where they built a new house&nbsp;with a large building with a woodshop where he spent many hours building many projects for Doris, grandchildren, other family members and friends.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Fishing,&nbsp;camping&nbsp;and traveling in their motorhome was a passion that he and Doris shared. With the loss of his wife on May 19, 2014,&nbsp;life was&nbsp;very different&nbsp;for several years, but&nbsp;the good Lord gave him a second wife, Jennifer Nancy&nbsp;Sciumbato. They got married on January 29, 2018,&nbsp;in Hudson, Colorado.&nbsp;He truly&nbsp;felt he had a blessed life with no regrets. He had many, many&nbsp;wonderful memories and a host of friends, and&nbsp;to&nbsp;all he&nbsp;said,&nbsp;“we’ll see&nbsp;ya&nbsp;over there”.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Ray passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024,&nbsp;at his home in Hudson. Ray was 89 years old.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Ray is survived by&nbsp;his wife Jennifer Sciumbato; children: Michael (Dawnene)&nbsp;Baldwin&nbsp;of Thornton,&nbsp;Douglas (Deena)&nbsp;Baldwin&nbsp;of Frederick&nbsp;and&nbsp;Denise (Noel)&nbsp;Huff&nbsp;of&nbsp;Arvada; grandchildren: Amber (Bobby) Reese of Loveland,&nbsp;David (Jennifer) Baldwin of Firestone, Nash (Taylor) Baldwin of Belgrade, MT, and Dori (Parker) Jacobs of Frederick; great-grandchildren: Chloe, Taylor,&nbsp;Jeffery, Morgan, Addilyn, Haliegh, Hazelee, Hudson, Decker, Lander and Alessi; sister,&nbsp;Jean Johnson&nbsp;and many nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Sandra K. Slade age 78 passed away Sunday May 19th, 2024 at Emerald Nursing &amp; Rehab in Cozad Nebraska.

Sandy was born Sandra K. Childers on October 22nd&nbsp;1945, in Crawford County, Indiana to Gilmer and Julia (Sturgeon) Childers. She then lived in English, Indiana, where she was raised by her Grandma and Grandpa Sturgeon. She graduated from English/Sterling High class of ’62.

After graduating she moved to Nebraska with Don and Thelma Sturgeon for more opportunities. &nbsp;Sandy met and married Harlan Garringer, to this union they welcomed two sons: James and William.

Sandy resided in Elm Creek, Nebraska for a large portion of her adult life, while working at Baldwins in Kearney, Nebraska until she retired.

Sandy loved the Lord and her family fiercely. She was always doing her best to spread God’s word to anyone willing to listen. She enjoyed getting to know people and never met a stranger. Sandy always talked about “back home” in Indiana which would spark stories of days long gone, but would paint such beautiful pictures in your mind.

Sandy is survived by her two sons, James &amp; wife Sheli Garringer of Lexington, Bill &amp; Kristy Garringer of Elm Creek; five grandchildren, Margo, Megan, Caleb, Johnathan, and Chelsey; seven great grandchildren; as well as many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; sister, Charlene.

A Celebration of Life Service for Sandy will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 1-3 p.m. at the Elm Creek Lions Club Community Center. A Private Family Inurnment will be held in the Sturgeon Family Cemetery in English, Indiana at a later date. &nbsp;&nbsp; Sharon Kaye Stoller was born on July 25, 1940, in Cambridge, Nebraska to Carl and Florence (Ogerzoka) Jeffers. &nbsp;She passed away Thursday, June 6, 2024, in McCook, Nebraska.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Sharon married John Robert Stoller on August 5, 1957. &nbsp;The couple made McCook their home where they raised three children. &nbsp;Sharon worked at Community Hospital, Hillcrest Nursing Home and Home HealthCare in McCook as a nurse’s aide.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Sharon was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in McCook. &nbsp;She was an avid reader and enjoyed coloring books and puzzles.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Robert Stoller; and daughter, Lori Loper.

Gerald Eugene Kennedy (1966-2024)

Vernette (Glidden) McMillan, 81, of Milburn, NE, passed away on June 6, 2024, at Kearney Regional Hospital. Born August 26, 1942, in Dunning, Nebraska, she was the first child of Verne and Betty Glidden. Vernette grew up in a close-knit family where togetherness was a way of life, filled with holiday dinners and weekend hunting and fishing trips. As the oldest grandchild, she often took on the responsibility of looking after the younger ones during these family outings. She attended school in Dunning, graduating in 1960. During high school, she worked at the Highway Café, saving money to attend secretarial school in Omaha. After completing her training, Vernette worked in Omaha for two years before returning to the Sandhills. It was at a local dance where she met James J. McMillan, whom she married in June 1963. Together, they had two children: Thomas Joseph and Jolene Marie.&nbsp;

She devoted her life to raising her children and embracing the ranching lifestyle on the McMillan family ranch.&nbsp;Jim and Vernette occasionally enjoyed traveling including trips visiting family on the West Coast, tracing the Lewis and Clark Trail, attending bull sales to Montana, a few trips down to Texas, among others.

Vernette was an active member of the Anselmo VFW Ladies Auxiliary and later the Broken Bow VFW for 60 years, where she held officer positions, including Treasurer for many years.&nbsp;She was particularly dedicated to parade floats, making and delivering cookie plates to veterans, and selling poppies.

The neighborhood collectively agreed that Vernette was an excellent cook, once even being featured in the local Custer County Chief newspaper.&nbsp;Feeding extra guests was customary, given that visitors frequently scheduled their stops around mealtime.&nbsp;She prepared three meals a day for her family and hired hands too.&nbsp;

Vernette also had a passion for science fiction movies, Nebraska Volleyball, and turquoise and silver jewelry, adding to her vibrant personality.&nbsp;

Vernette derived immense joy from her grandchildren's activities, rarely missing a sporting event, music concert, or livestock show.&nbsp;She frequently attended her grandchildren's football, volleyball, and basketball games, wrestling tournaments, and track meets, as well as weekend softball tournaments, often with another grandchild in tow. She never missed the Dawson and Custer County Fairs, where she watched her grandchildren compete in 4-H and FFA projects.

Vernette's surviving family include her children, Thomas (Lisa) McMillan of Milburn and Jolene (Jerry) Wiggins of Gothenburg, her sister Leila (Butch) Schultz of Tok, AK, sister-in-law Helen Glidden of Taylor, NE, grandchildren Janae (Zachary) Thomas, Jacey (Matthew) Person, James Russell McMillan, BaiLee McMillan, Samuel McMillan, and great-grandson Dexter Thomas. Vernette McMillan (1942-2024)

Dennis “Beeny” V. Beenblossom passed away Friday, June 7, 2024 at his home in Gothenburg at the age of 80. Dennis was born May 5, 1944 in Lexington, Nebraska to Delpha and Florence (Weible) Beenblossom. He married Lila Carr on December 16, 1962 at the Methodist Church in Cozad. Their union was blessed with 3 children: Kandy, Jim and Denise. He worked at the hay mill and Monroe Auto in Cozad. They moved to Kearney and he went to trade school in Kansas City to learn auto body. &nbsp;They moved back to Cozad where Dennis went to work at Ford Garage in Gothenburg for many years. They moved to Gothenburg to raise their family and purchased Top Notch Radiator in 1970. Dennis enjoyed old cars and he and Lila both loved to drag race. They lived at Jeffrey Lake for several years. Dennis loved the lake house and lake life, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, Claude Tappan; sister Jackie Meier, brother Thomas Beenblossom, Granddaughter LeAnn Beenblossom, great granddaughters Lilly Jean Romero and Isabel Phelps.&nbsp;

 </figure>Dennis “Beeny” V. Beenblossom passed away Friday, June 7, 2024 at his home in Gothenburg at the age of 80. Dennis was born May 5, 1944 in Lexington, Nebraska to Delpha and Florence (Weible) Beenblossom. He married Lila Carr on December 16, 1962 at the Methodist Church in Cozad. Their union was blessed with 3 children: Kandy, Jim and Denise. He worked at the hay mill and Monroe Auto in Cozad. They moved to Kearney and he went to trade school in Kansas City to learn auto body. &nbsp;They moved back to Cozad where Dennis went to work at Ford Garage in Gothenburg for many years. They moved to Gothenburg to raise their family and purchased Top Notch Radiator in 1970. Dennis enjoyed old cars and he and Lila both loved to drag race. They lived at Jeffrey Lake for several years. Dennis loved the lake house and lake life, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his dogs. Dennis "Beeny" V. Beenblossom (1944-2024)

&nbsp; &nbsp; Carla Bales was called to her heavenly home on Monday, June 3, 2024, in Wahoo, Nebraska. &nbsp;She was born July 17, 1935, to Charles and Selma (Bamesberger) Cruver. Carla was the third child of four girls and attended school in McCook. She married Raymond Doyle on Sept. 6, 1953, at the Peace Lutheran Church. Their marriage was blessed with four children that they raised in McCook. On June 14, 1980, she married Floyd Bales and gained five extra children.

&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Carla sold Tupperware for many years, worked as a legal secretary for Hanson and Hanson, McCook Abstract and taught a few night classes at McCook Community College. She also volunteered delivering Meals on Wheels in McCook and in her later years enjoyed the Heritage Senior Center meals, fellowship and was always up for a game of Bridge. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were so loved by her, and you could always count on her to be sitting at a ballgame, dance recital, wrestling match or at the lake and any other activity her loved ones would be participating in. Of course, she always had her bag of yarn or thread and would crochet during any event to add to her craft items she loved to sell. &nbsp;Carla spent the last seven years in Wahoo due to Alzheimer's but her quick wit and smile made her a beloved resident of those that cared for her. She was known as the “Ice Cream Lady” for her love of ice cream and the ability to create the largest ice cream cone. Her family will be forever grateful for the love and care Carla received at South Haven Nursing Home.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; Carla was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Selma Cruver; her sisters, Edith, Irene and Sandy; her husband, Floyd Bales, stepchildren, Randy Bales, Pamela Foight, and Robin Seabrook; and grandchildren, Chantel Doyle, Nicki Bales and Shanna Bales.

Carla Marie Bales (1935-2024)

Gerald L. Meissner, 85, of Wellfleet, NE passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at his home. &nbsp;He was born on July 12, 1938 in Quick, NE the son of Leo and June Meissner.

He married Lynn in Lexington, NE on May 27, 1968. They were blessed with six loving children, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Gerald served the U.S. Army from 1963-1965. &nbsp;He was stationed in Hawaii as an operator. &nbsp;Over his lifetime career, he had several jobs as a switchboard operator and truck driver. &nbsp;His true passion was his family farm in Wellfleet. &nbsp;He will be truly missed by his loved ones and friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Kenlyn, Kevin, Lesley, Troy, Ginia, and Susie; grandchildren, Kendrick, Kendahl, Breanna, Austin, Matthew, Madison; 6 great grandchildren; numerous extended family - nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, and wife of 54 years, Lynn.&nbsp;

A Celebration of Gerald’s Life will be held at Thanksgiving, which was the family’s most cherished holiday.

Shirley B Dicke was born on September 27, 1928 to Ervin and Marie Ruopp Amman near Naponee, Nebraska. She was the oldest of four children, with two younger sisters and a brother. Shirley departed this world on Thursday, June 6, 2024 peacefully, surrounded by her loving husband and family.

&nbsp;As a child growing up in the depression and the WWII years, Shirley knew the value of hard work and practicality. It fostered her lifelong love of gardening, canning, sewing, music, and the joy of simple living. After graduating high school in Naponee, she started work as a bookkeeper in Franklin. It was here she met the love of her life, Leonard, and they were married in 1952 and eventually moved to McCook, Nebraska where they raised their three children. For many years she worked the front desk at TRW.

Life always revolved around extended family and friends: picnics at the lake, legendary family dinners, lots of camping and just crazy fun. She was the wonderful mom, the fun aunt and always a loving grandmother. Her home brimmed full of light, laughter, and love. She was a member of the First Congregational Church for over 50 years. Shirley was a Sunday school teacher and also taught piano for many years, instructing all three of her children and several of her grandkids too, instilling in them her love of music.&nbsp;

After Leonard retired, they became intrepid snowbirds for many years heading to Arizona with friends for winters filled with golf and relaxation. They loved their 5th wheel camper and took trips ranging from Canada to Mexico with yearly camping in Colorado with the kids and grandkids.&nbsp;

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Doris, brother Glen, daughter Karen Reiners, son Larry “Hank” Dicke, and her granddaughter Chantal.&nbsp;

Shirley is survived by her husband of 71 years, Leonard of McCook, NE, her daughter Janice (James) Ashby of Lincoln, NE, daughter-in-law Theresa Dicke of McCook, NE, sister Lorene (Rodney) Richter of Naponee, NE, brother-in-law Hank (Val) Dicke of Holdrege, NE along with beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Her laughter, bright smile, and warm embrace will be sorely missed.&nbsp;

Marilyn M. Matson, age 82, passed away at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, NE on June 6, 2024.

Marilyn was born in McCook, NE, on March 1, 1942, to parents Orville and Elsie (Barger) Shull. She attended McCook High School where she graduated with the class of 1960.&nbsp;

Marilyn married Wayne R. Matson in Las Vegas in the year 1981. Marilyn and Wayne were married for 37 years until Wayne’s passing on March 29, 2002.

Throughout her life she worked at Mac’s Drive Inn for 20 plus years and then owned and operated her own cleaning service. Marilyn loved playing Farkel with friends, and spending time with her family. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.

Marilyn will be remembered most for helping others and her outgoing personality.

Marilyn is proceeded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Charlie Shull; sisters, Judy Rohr and Vonda Brunswick; and daughters, Debra and Kathy.

She is survived by son, Clifton (Jennifer) Matson of Lincoln, NE; granddaughters, Holli Matson and Brittany Dawn Schlund; grandson, Micheal Kiel; nieces, Carol, Brenda, Karen, and Tracie; nephew, Jerry; best friend, Mary Howard; and many extended family members.&nbsp;

Marilyn M Matson (1942-2024)

Bethel “Beth” Eilene Miller, 100, of Oshkosh passed away early Friday morning, May 31, 2024 at her home on Lost Creek Ranch north of Oshkosh surrounded by her loving family.

Cremation has taken place and there are no formal services planned. Private family service will be held at a later date.

Bethel was born on September 21, 1923 in Davenport, lowa to George &amp; Lora (Potter) Bostwick, where her father was attending medical school. After his graduation they returned to Nebraska. Bethel graduated from North Platte High School and attended Kearney State College. She then married Art B. Miller on February 14, 1943. To this union two sons were born: Ted &amp; Rick. Their marriage lasted almost seventy years until Art's passing on February 4, 2013.

As a young bride she and Art owned and operated a small dairy farm near Maxwell, Nebraska. Bethel helped milk at 4 a.m., cooked on a wood burning stove and had no indoor plumbing. Years later they purchased a motel in Sidney which Bethel managed. &nbsp;Ted &amp; Rick then went to school in Sidney. Art traveled from Maxwell on weekends to be with the family while his cousin took care of the farm in Maxwell. &nbsp;Due to a horse related accident that severely injured Art, they sought an easier life and bought a ranch north of Oshkosh in 1966. They ran a cattle operation and grew corn and alfalfa until Art passed away at age 89.

Bethel was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. Bethel's passion was gardening. She so enjoyed flowers. Her yard was once featured in a garden magazine, and she won many ribbons at the Garden County Fair for her creative arrangements. She was a charter member of the Garden County Garden Club for over sixty years and hosted their annual Harvest Banquet at the ranch each year. She definitely had a gift of hospitality as she welcomed everyone to her home and provided meals for them no matter the time of day and provided beds if they needed to stay. Bethel was playful and mischievous. She often caught her family off guard by her antics, so they always knew to expect the unexpected when visiting the ranch. &nbsp;She cooked for all the brandings, even the Rocky Mountain Oysters! She was a really good cook! No one could match her cinnamon rolls. She also won ribbons at fair for her baking.

Bethel was actively involved in the community: member of Wesleyan Church teaching Sunday School, youth group activities with hayrides, ladies group and volunteering wherever needed. Bethel remained active until she fractured her hip in 2019. After recovering at Ted's home, she chose to stay at the ranch with her roly-poly walker and golf cart to get around planting her garden and flowers until May of this year. Bethel was a true pioneer woman as her life has been lived in the spirit of early Nebraskans. She was given the honorary title award by Governor Jim Pillen in 2023: ADMIRAL The Great Navy of the STATE OF NEBRASKA.

She is survived by sons Ted (Karen) of Oshkosh, Rick, of Tucumcari, New Mexico, ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, brothers, George (Marilyn) and Dick Bostwick and nieces, nephews and cousins.

In eternal life Bethel joins her husband, Art, parents, sisters Lois (Irvin) &amp; Jeannie (Jerry), granddaughter Laura, niece Diny &amp; nephew David.

Art traveled from Maxwell on weekends to be with the family while his cousin took care of the farm in Maxwell. &nbsp;Due to a horse related accident that severely injured Art, they sought an easier life and bought a ranch north of Oshkosh in 1966. They ran a cattle operation and grew corn and alfalfa until Art passed away at age 89.Bethel was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. Bethel's passion was gardening. She so enjoyed flowers. Her yard was once featured in a garden magazine, and she won many ribbons at the Garden County Fair for her creative arrangements. She was a charter member of the Garden County Garden Club for over sixty years and hosted their annual Harvest Banquet at the ranch each year. She definitely had a gift of hospitality as she welcomed everyone to her home and provided meals for them no matter the time of day and provided beds if they needed to stay. Bethel was playful and mischievous. She often caught her family off guard by her antics, so they always knew to expect the unexpected when visiting the ranch. &nbsp;She cooked for all the brandings, even the Rocky Mountain Oysters! She was a really good cook! No one could match her cinnamon rolls. She also won ribbons at fair for her baking.Bethel was actively involved in the community: member of Wesleyan Church teaching Sunday School, youth group activities with hayrides, ladies group and volunteering wherever needed. Bethel remained active until she fractured her hip in 2019. After recovering at Ted's home, she chose to stay at the ranch with her roly-poly walker and golf cart to get around planting her garden and flowers until May of this year. Bethel was a true pioneer woman as her life has been lived in the spirit of early Nebraskans. She was given the honorary title award by Governor Jim Pillen in 2023: ADMIRAL The Great Navy of the STATE OF NEBRASKA.She is survived by sons Ted (Karen) of Oshkosh, Rick, of Tucumcari, New Mexico, ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, brothers, George (Marilyn) and Dick Bostwick and nieces, nephews and cousins.In eternal life Bethel joins her husband, Art, parents, sisters Lois (Irvin) &amp; Jeannie (Jerry), granddaughter Laura, niece Diny &amp; nephew David.

E W “Smitty” Smith, 93, of North Platte, NE formerly of TX passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Great Plains Health Hospital. He was born on July 26, 1930 in Lubbock, TX the son of Ewell and Ideary Smith.

E W grew up around Walnut Springs, Cleburne, and Fort Worth, Texas. &nbsp;He graduated from Mansfield high school and excelled in baseball, football, and track. &nbsp;He started college at John Tarleton in Stephenville, TX and received a basketball scholarship. &nbsp;While in college he met and married Billye Dale Robonoe in 1949 and together they had two children, David and Diana. &nbsp;E W worked for various companies including Texas Electric Service Co. as a lineman, Travelite Trailor Co. in Fort Worth as a carpenter, Convair Aircraft plant as a patternmaker. &nbsp;Later upon moving to Retta, TX he worked as a builder of prototype models and tooling models for injection molds for Loma Corp. of Fort Worth, TX and then for Doskocil Mfg., where he retired. &nbsp;He enjoyed hunting and traveling throughout the U.S. &nbsp;In retirement he enjoyed being a gunsmith, a ham radio operator, and an avid reader of Texas and early U.S. history. &nbsp;He also enjoyed playing autoharp, guitar and harmonica in the band “High Cotton”. They retired to Mountain View, Arkansas. &nbsp;Following the death of his wife of 64 years Billye, he was fortunate to meet Billie Jean Beall. &nbsp;They became loving and close companions moving to North Platte, NE to be closer to her children and grandchildren.&nbsp;

Those left to cherish his memory are his significant other, Billie Jean Beall of North Platte; daughter, Diana Smith of Austin, TX; stepchildren, Leonard E. (Christine) Beall of North Platte, Michael (Connie) Beall of North Platte, and Patrick Beall of New Mexico; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; and many other special friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Billye Dale; son, David Smith; and a granddaughter.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; Mary Lynn (Graf) Marsh passed peacefully in her sleep on June 2, 2024, at Bryan West Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. &nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; Mary was born August 31, 1946 in Loop City, Nebraska to George and Jannetta (Jensen) Graf.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Her parents made their home in Brush, Colorado where Mary, along with her four siblings, attended the local school and helped on the family farm. &nbsp;When Mary was a sophomore, her parents moved the family to Indianola, Nebraska where her mother found work as a schoolteacher and her father worked for the railroad. &nbsp;Shortly after the move, she met the love of her life, Walter “Skip” Marsh. &nbsp;She graduated from Indianola High School in 1964. &nbsp;She then attended Colorado State College of Education at Greeley, Colorado. &nbsp;She Graduated with a degree in teaching in 1967. &nbsp;After graduation, Mary and Skip Marsh were married in the Catholic Church in Brush on June 3, 1967. &nbsp;She and Skip returned to Indianola where Skip farmed and Mary taught kindergarten at Indianola Elementary School. &nbsp;They soon started a family. &nbsp;Mary taught a few years but as her family grew she decided she needed to be at home to raise her children. &nbsp;Mary and Skip raised eight children. They are members of St Catherine's Catholic Church, Mary was an active member of the Altar Society, Mrs. XJC’s and the Red Hat Society. &nbsp;She was a scout leader, 4-H leader, substitute teacher, leader of the CCD program for the children in the church, and kept herself busy with her passions, which were gardening and sewing. &nbsp;In 1995, while her last three children were still at home she and Skip bought the Indianola newspaper and for the next 22 years she was the editor-in-chief of the Indianola News. &nbsp;She loved reading, sewing and spending time with her children and grandchildren. &nbsp;She will be loved and missed by all who knew her. &nbsp; &nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; Mary was preceded in death by her parents, George and Jennetta Graf; son, Joseph; and sister, Linda Muchow.

&nbsp; &nbsp; She is survived by her husband, Walter “Skip” Marsh of Indianola; children: William (Kathy) Marsh of McCook, Nebraska, James (Amanda) Marsh of Pensacola, Florida, Thomas (Monica) Marsh of Odessa, Missouri, Shari (Brian) Smith of Burke, Virginia, Julie (Daniel) Sommer of Omaha, Nebraska, Amy Sweigard of Omaha, Robert (Laura) Marsh of Elmwood, Nebraska and David (Rachna) Marsh of Omaha; 20 grandchildren: Laken and Grant, Kegan and Juliana, Aaron, Jacob, Trinia and Jonny, Kyri, Andrew, Samantha and Nick, Laura, Gheiron and Mya, Jacob, Isabeau, Donny, Bob, Kelly, Brooklyn, Brody, Kourtney, Erik, and Vian; four great-grandchildren: Luna, Mila, Dillon and Cyrus; three brothers: Larry Muchow, Allen (Wen) Graf and Ernest (Ruth) Graf; and one 1 sister, Joan (Ed) Mallon.

Donald Scott Howard, 55, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away on Monday June 3, 2024 in North Platte. He was born on August 10, 1968 in North Platte, the son of Jack D. and Doris Kae (Geis) Howard.&nbsp;

Scott graduated from North Platte High School and attended college in Colby, KS. He worked for over 30 years as an engineer with the Union Pacific Railroad. Scott enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting and fishing.&nbsp;

Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Doris Howard of North Platte; son Brandon (Amanda) Howard of North Platte; grandson, Huxton; Sister, Jamie Scholtz of North Platte; and many beloved relatives and friends.&nbsp;

&nbsp; Rodney Ray Longmore, 70, of Callaway, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at the Callaway Good Life Center in Callaway, Nebraska.

He was born on July 9, 1953, in Sutherland, Nebraska, to Clarence Lewis and Ruby May (Matson) Longmore. His family moved to Elsie, Nebraska, where he graduated from High School. After high school, Rodney moved to Cozad, where he began his career working for Tenneco-Monroe. He dedicated over 30 years to the company before ultimately retiring. On August 31, 1974, Rodney was united in marriage to the love of his life, Dorothy Ballenger in Overton, Nebraska. Three children were blessed to this union: April, Donna, and Tony. They made their home in Cozad for many years until 2019, when Rodney moved to Callaway, Nebraska.

Rodney enjoyed spending his time outdoors where he could go fishing and spend many hours tending to his garden. If he wasn't outside, you could find him at home, working on his cross stitch, reading mystery and true crime novels, watching westerns or his favorite show, Wheel of Fortune. Everyone knew not to bother Rodney once Wheel of Fortune was on. He loved to joke around with his family, and enjoyed making people laugh and smile.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, April (Matt) Dinges of Cozad, Donna (Jermey) Siemering of Cozad, and Tony (Robin) Longmore of Grand Island; grandchildren, Christopher (Alexis) Dinges, Jasper Dinges, Caden Dinges, Karly (Dakota) Pooschke, Trestian (Tori) Siemering, Taylore (Makayla) Siemering, Austin Longmore, Zachary Longmore, and Hannah Kubik; great-grandchildren, Harry, Harper, Braylynn and Oakley, as well as extended family and friends.

Besides his parents, Rodney was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Longmore, and sister, Wanda Ballenger.

Philip Ewert (1936-2024)

Connie Lou (Loghry) Dye, 84, of North Platte, NE passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Linden Court.

Connie was born on January 4, 1940 to Max and Nellie (Pulley) Loghry in Maywood, NE. &nbsp;She was raised on a farm south of Curtis and attended grade school at District 91 in Frontier County. &nbsp;She attended high school at the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis, graduating with the class of 1957.

After graduation, Connie came to North Platte to attend the School of Commerce. &nbsp;Connie met Dallis Dye at a Hadley Barrett dance in Sutherland, NE, and they were married on April 24, 1960, in Curtis. &nbsp;Two children, Rodney and Nancy, were born to this union. &nbsp;They made their home in North Platte except for living in McCook from 1963 to 1969.

Connie worked for Dr. C. F. Heider, Sr. and Jr., and worked as a teacher’s aide at Adams Junior High School. &nbsp;In 1977, Dallis and Connie bought Cohagen Transfer and Storage. &nbsp;In 1981 Connie went to work for the family business. &nbsp;Dallis and Connie loved to square dance and did lots of camping. &nbsp;They traveled in their motor home as much as time allowed spending some time in Apache Junction, AZ. &nbsp;She was a member of the RSVP, and enjoyed going to Branson, MO every September with friends for several years. &nbsp;They were Husker fans who never missed a home game if possible.

Connie was preceded in death by her husband Dallis in 2013, her parents, a sister Leona and husband Ivan Boone, her in laws Orley and Edith (Baxter) Dye, a sister-in-law Carolyn Dye, and a great granddaughter Leyha Bartels.

 </figure>Connie Lou (Loghry) Dye, 84, of North Platte, NE passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Linden Court.Connie was born on January 4, 1940 to Max and Nellie (Pulley) Loghry in Maywood, NE. &nbsp;She was raised on a farm south of Curtis and attended grade school at District 91 in Frontier County. &nbsp;She attended high school at the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis, graduating with the class of 1957.After graduation, Connie came to North Platte to attend the School of Commerce. &nbsp;Connie met Dallis Dye at a Hadley Barrett dance in Sutherland, NE, and they were married on April 24, 1960, in Curtis. &nbsp;Two children, Rodney and Nancy, were born to this union. &nbsp;They made their home in North Platte except for living in McCook from 1963 to 1969.Connie worked for Dr. C. F. Heider, Sr. and Jr., and worked as a teacher’s aide at Adams Junior High School. &nbsp;In 1977, Dallis and Connie bought Cohagen Transfer and Storage. &nbsp;In 1981 Connie went to work for the family business. &nbsp;Dallis and Connie loved to square dance and did lots of camping. &nbsp;They traveled in their motor home as much as time allowed spending some time in Apache Junction, AZ. &nbsp;She was a member of the RSVP, and enjoyed going to Branson, MO every September with friends for several years. &nbsp;They were Husker fans who never missed a home game if possible.Connie was preceded in death by her husband Dallis in 2013, her parents, a sister Leona and husband Ivan Boone, her in laws Orley and Edith (Baxter) Dye, a sister-in-law Carolyn Dye, and a great granddaughter Leyha Bartels.Connie is survived by a son, Rod (Crystal) Dye of North Platte; daughter, Nancy (Terry) McNew of North Platte; six grandchildren, Sara (Kyle) Baker of North Platte, Jennifer (Troy) Bayne of Hershey, Melissa (Shane) Blackburn of North Platte, Josh (Jane) Dye of Sutherland, Nicholas (Catie) McNew, and Brandi (Justin) Erickson both of North Platte; eleven great grandchildren, three great-great grandsons; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Pastor Patrick Sipes officiating. &nbsp;Burial will follow in Maywood Cemetery. &nbsp;Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, June 10th at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements. &nbsp;&nbsp;Memorials may be made to the Maywood Cemetery. &nbsp;
