&nbsp; Donna Folkers, 88, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, passed away at Country House memory care unit in Grand Island on June 4, 2024.

Donna was born on August 31, 1935 and was the daughter of Jasper and Doris Hudson of Lexington, Nebraska. Donna and her three sisters lived in and attended school in Lexington during the beginning years of her life, until she met her late husband, Dwaine Folkers. On August 15, 1953 Donna married Dwaine, while stationed in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Following their marriage, they moved to the family farm where they began building their life and family together.

From their marriage they were blessed with four children, Doug, Scott, Craig, Penny. When they were school age, Donna decided to embark on her career in Cosmetology. After successfully completing cosmetology school and receiving her license in North Platte, Donna opened her own salon in the back of the LaGrace Clothing store in Gothenburg. After a few years of being in business, Donna had her own shop built, Donna's Beauty Salon, which was the go to place to get your hair done! After 30 years in the business Donna sold her building and business.

Donna enjoyed plants and flowers, she could grow anything. Donna played the piano and organ by ear, and loved to go on rides and dance. Donna at one time served on the kitchen committee and also quilted at the American Lutheran Church.

Donna was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Dwaine, son Craig, parents and parents in-law.

Donna is survived by her children, Doug (Marcia) Folkers of Littleton, CO; Scott (Christy) Folkers of Omaha, NE; daughter, Penny Thorman of Gothenburg, NE; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and six great great-grandchildren, her sisters Marilyn, Jackie and Karen.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Sunday, June 9, 2024, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm. with family present. Services will be held at 10:30 am, June 10, 2024 at the American Lutheran Church, 1512 Ave G, Gothenburg, Nebraska with Pastor Doug Hjelmstad officiating. &nbsp;Interment will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery. Starla Nadine Sherman Jackson was born January 24, 1969, in Valentine, NE to Hugh Loren and Roberta Jean (Lawlis) Sherman. Being the last born from a family of nine, Starla was blessed with creativity and a strong work ethic. She attended college at Colby Community College in Colby, KS, and studied for a degree in veterinary tech. However, she married before finishing her degree.

Starla was a person with a very generous heart and loved all things animals, especially horses. Horses were always a part of her life whether she was riding or caring for them. Her consideration for others was evident in her baking and cooking skills, and then giving away to others. Other interests and hobbies she loved were quilting, crafting, and reading books. She always had a large and beautiful garden that she used for giving away produce and canning many jars for later use. Starla had a very creative heart and at one time wrote short articles of interest for the Fence Post magazine.

Her love for horses and cattle was evident as she mostly worked for feedlots wherever her home was established.

Starla is survived by daughter Jamie (Will) Huston from Torrington, WY, sons Brett Menuey of Washington, and Rowdy Jackson of Litchfield, two grandchildren Danielle and Montgomery Huston, siblings Frances Vasa of Arthur, Myra Boje of Hampton, Neva Sherman of Minnesota, and Sally Ruelas of Wisconsin, sisters-in-laws Helen Sherman of Valentine and Jane Sherman of Valentine.

Starla was preceded in death by her parents Hugh and Roberta Sherman, husband Jerry Jackson, son Taylor Finley, and brothers Gary, Blaine, Galen, and Frank Sherman.

The early afternoon of June 3, 2024 our Mom, Jean Budd Cissell, took the narrow path home. We know that while those who knew her grieve their loss, she is rejoicing to finally be in the presence of our Lord. Mom's life was a full one, and her heart was always open to those in need. Her laugh was filled with joy, her hugs were pure love, and her talks were spot on, enveloped in grace. Her never budging faith allowed our family to see how a Christian's life should be. Through the loss of a child, her family, her husband, and a very long illness, she fixed her eyes on the positives in everything. The world lost a great lady, but our Lord is smiling as Mom is now in his arms. We will miss you Mom. Jim, Tina, Jerry and Joe.

Jean Marie Cissell (1935-2024)

Paul J. Streit, 65, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024 at Meadowlark Pointe in Cozad, Nebraska.

Paul was born on February 19, 1959, in Lexington, Nebraska to Melvin J. and Marilyn (Prasch) Streit. He grew up on the farm north of Lexington and attended school in Lexington. Paul was a 1977 graduate of St. Ann’s High School.

The farm was his life. Paul was a quiet and simple man but loved working on the farm.

He enjoyed watching basketball and going with his buddies to the University of Nebraska-Kearney games.&nbsp;

Paul was a faithful member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church where he ushered for many years.

Survivors include his brothers, David (Scott Button) Streit of Rehoboth, Delaware, John (James Wilkin) Streit of Longmont, Colorado and Steve (Karallyn) Streit of Ashville, North Carolina; nephews, Cody (Savannah) Streit of Papillion and Levi (Megan) Streit of Kearney; niece, Chelsea Streit of Cairo; as well as extended family and friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with Father Jose Chavez, celebrating.

Lavonne Rae Baker, formerly of Callaway, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Citizen's Medical Center in Colby, Kansas at the age of 87 years, 1 month and 14 days.&nbsp;

She was born on April 17, 1937, in Callaway, Nebraska to Billie Dale and Vera M (Lange) Strong. Lavonne attended school in Callaway, Nebraska and graduated with the class of 1954. On October 17, 1955 she married Roland (Ronnie) Baker. They lived in Grand Island &amp; Gothenburg, Nebraska until they moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1965. &nbsp;They enjoyed dancing and Colorado Buffalo Football for many years. &nbsp;In 2020, she moved to Kansas where her youngest daughter lives. Lavonne always had a smile and was spunky and friendly to everyone she met. Lavonne is deeply missed but no longer in pain. &nbsp;We love you Mom, Grandma (Granny) until we meet again.

Lavonne Ray Baker (1937-2024)

Lynn Eugene Meyer passed away on June 4, 2024, at Great Plains Health in North Platte, Nebraska, at the age of 84. Lynn was born on May 1st, 1940, at home on the ranch to parents Clifton Meyer and Fern Grunden Meyer in Maxwell, Nebraska. He grew up in the village of Maxwell, working on the ranch. During high school, Lynn met the love of his life at a dance in Sutherland, Nebraska. After graduating from the Maxwell High School in 1958, he attended the Barnes School of Commerce in Denver, Co, but a love for both a girl and a way of life brought him back to Maxwell.

Linda Samuelson and Lynn were married August 13th, 1961, the day after Linda turned 19. Lynn returned to the life that he loved on the family ranch riding and working horses. Together on the ranch, the family raised feeder calves and started raising registered Belgian draft horses in 1961. With two mares and one stud, a passion was started that would last a lifetime.

Lynn and Linda had three children: D’Nae, Casey, and Shana. Lynn was devoted to his family, friends, and way of life. His big personality and strong voice made him known to many, but most notably appreciated by all. He was a lifelong steward of the land, animals, and of men. He encouraged all of the kids he claimed as his own to be hardworking and strong-willed. He loved driving and showing his horses, working on the ranch, playing cards, and reminiscing about old times while team penning, calf roping, or coon hunting.

Lynn traveled the United States showing horses, judging various fairs, stock shows, and being ring steward and announcer at the National Western Stock Show in Denver, CO. He was always on the go either to a farm or horse sale or running errands in North Platte. Throughout his life, Lynn served on the Maxwell Rural Fire Board for over 40 years, was a founding member of the Nebraska Draft Horse Association and continued his membership for over 55 years, and was a member and served a term as president of the Lincoln County Cattlemens Association. Among his many accomplishments in life, Lynn was awarded the Dale Studley Award for his dedicated service to the NebraskaLand Days Rodeo.

&nbsp;Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Fern; his sister, Joyce Sommer; his brother, Larry Meyer; and his grandson, Jacob Daniel Meyer. He is survived by his wife, Linda; his son, Casey (Lori) Meyer; his daughters, D’Nae Meyer and Shana (Wade) Simpson; his grandchildren, Kylee (Seth) Taylor, Sarah (Christopher) Borden, Tallyn (Nolan) Hammond, Jett Simpson, and Jack Meyer; and his great-grandchildren Creed Borden and Caius Borden; among many other extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Maxwell First Baptist Church or the Maxwell Public School Foundation. Cremation was chosen, and a service will be held at the Maxwell Baptist Church on Friday, June 7th, at 2:00 PM. He was always on the go either to a farm or horse sale or running errands in North Platte. Throughout his life, Lynn served on the Maxwell Rural Fire Board for over 40 years, was a founding member of the Nebraska Draft Horse Association and continued his membership for over 55 years, and was a member and served a term as president of the Lincoln County Cattlemens Association. Among his many accomplishments in life, Lynn was awarded the Dale Studley Award for his dedicated service to the NebraskaLand Days Rodeo.&nbsp;Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Fern; his sister, Joyce Sommer; his brother, Larry Meyer; and his grandson, Jacob Daniel Meyer. He is survived by his wife, Linda; his son, Casey (Lori) Meyer; his daughters, D’Nae Meyer and Shana (Wade) Simpson; his grandchildren, Kylee (Seth) Taylor, Sarah (Christopher) Borden, Tallyn (Nolan) Hammond, Jett Simpson, and Jack Meyer; and his great-grandchildren Creed Borden and Caius Borden; among many other extended family members.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Maxwell First Baptist Church or the Maxwell Public School Foundation. John Scott Gibson, age 79, Marine Veteran of the Vietnam War, passed away on May 31, 2024, at the Community Hospital in McCook, NE.

John was born on March 1, 1945, to John and Dorothy (Kelley) Gibson in Scottsbluff, NE. John attended school in McCook, NE.&nbsp;

On June 17, 1963, John joined the Marine Corps and proudly served our country until 1966, serving two terms in Vietnam.&nbsp;

On August 23, 1965, John married Collen L. Fisher.&nbsp; To this union their daughter, Shelley, was born.

John married Judy Ann Gebauer on August 9, 1974, together they raised their two sons Rick and Curtis in Fort Morgan, CO, where John resided until Judy’s death in 2021.&nbsp;

John entered the oil field business shortly after returning from Vietnam working his way up from entry level field work to ownership of oil field related businesses, and eventually participating in oil wells and mineral ownership.

John enjoyed traveling to various places but even more so when he was able to take family and friends alongside. Mexico will forever have a special place in the hearts of John’s family and friends.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing, racing cars, collecting and hunting arrowheads, and collecting guns and coins.&nbsp;

John will always be remembered for his generosity. He had a very big heart and was always willing to help those in need. From serving in the military, donating to multiple charities, to helping his friends and family.&nbsp;

John was proceeded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy; and his wife, Judy.

John S. Gibson (1945-2024)

Margaret “Marge” Lynn (Lehl) Thomas was born on September 26, 1944 in Lincoln to John and Emma Lehl. She attended Southeast High School, graduating in 1962. Then she attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln. She was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. After graduating in 1966, she married Sam Thomas in Lincoln. They were married for 57 years. She later earned advanced degrees from Chadron College and University of Nebraska at Kearney. She and Sam had three sons: Brian, Kevin and Eric.

Marge spent 23 years teaching. She led a gifted education program for the North Platte Public Schools. She also taught gifted classes as well as High School English. Later she taught disadvantaged students at the Learning Center in North Platte. She loved every minute of teaching and every student she ever had in class.&nbsp;

Her health forced her to retire in 2007. She spent many years volunteering after that. She was a member of the North Platte Chamber Hostesses and member for many years of the Foster Care Review Board. She was also a past president and chaplain of her PEO Chapter AK, and a member of the North Platte Playhouse Guild.

She loved spending time with her four grandchildren: Eli, Camden, Vincent and Kennedy. She also loved the Nebraska Huskers and attended every home game for many years. When she had spare time, she played Bridge. She and Sam were in a couples duplicate Bridge group for over 40 years with most of the same members: Bob &amp; Julie, Ron &amp; Lois, Betty &amp; Gene, and Gil &amp; Lynn (and later Jackie).

She is survived by her devoted husband Sam, sons Brian (Tricia) of Ohio, Kevin (Lori) of Lincoln, Eric of Callaway, grandchildren Eli, Camden, Vincent and Kennedy, and brother-in-law Pat (Penny) Thomas of Lincoln.

Marlynn K. Gerloff, age 87 of Frisco, TX (formerly of Ogallala, NE) passed away at Stonemere Rehabilitation in Frisco, TX.

Marlynn Kay Gerloff was born in Ogallala, NE to Herman and Irene (Purdy) Huff, she attended Ogallala Schools and then went on to attend Purdue University to pursue her bachelor's degree in Interior Design.

On October 21st, 1956 she married Eldean Dale Gerloff in the Methodist Church of Ogallala. Marlynn was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family.

She was involved with 4H and enjoyed different types of theater shows. Her hobbies included reading, gardening, and playing cards; especially bridge, but nothing compared to her love for spending time with her family.

A memorial service has been scheduled for Friday, August 9, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ogallala, NE with Reverend Albert Bader officiating.

She is preceded in death by her, father, Herman Huff; mother, Irene Huff, and husband Eldean Gerloff.

Marlynn is survived by her three daughters, Diane Johnson, Sheryl (Rich) Marshall, and Kathy (Purnell) White; sister Rhonda (Norm) Duba; one niece; one nephew; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Marlynn Kay Gerloff (1936-2024)

&nbsp; Don Alfred Swanson, formerly of Arnold, Nebraska, passed away on June 1, 2024, with family in their independent living apartment in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 93 years, 8 months and6 days.

Don was born September 26, 1930, at the old Arnold Hospital to Carl and Ruth Swanson. He and his parents lived on the farm south of Arnold. Don attended the Prairie View country school and graduated from Arnold High School in 1948.

On June 4, 1952, Don married Sunbeam Oman (Don died 3 days short of their 72nd wedding anniversary). To this union 2 children were born: Pauline and Donald Lee. They made their home north of Cozad until Don was drafted into the Army and sent to Germany. Sunbeam and the children joined him there for 17 months. When Don was discharged from the Army, they moved back to their home north of Cozad. Then, in 1959 they built a new home south of Arnold, where they lived for the next 60 years.

Don attended Tallin Church while growing up and received Christ as his personal Savior at Maranatha Bible Camp at 11 years of age. As an adult, Don taught adult Sunday School classes and served on the Tallin Church board for many years. Don farmed and ranched all his adult life, except for his time in the Army. In 1975 Sunbeam started a business out of their home installing window treatments in homes and businesses. Don helped in many ways. Nothing gave Don and Sunbeam more joy than their family. Pauline married Duane Norman, and Donald Lee married Marilyn Landis. They blessed Don and Sunbeam with 5 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Their family always found the time to be together. Each one was very special to Don and Sunbeam.

Besides seeing family and getting together with friends, Don and Sunbeam enjoyed traveling. Over their married life, they took 19 tours in the United States and overseas. Their last tour was to Israel, which they always said was the best tour they took. It was so meaningful to walk where Jesus walked and to be baptized in the Jordon where Jesus was baptized. 

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Ruth Swanson, his father- and mother-in-law, Harry and Lettie Oman, and brother-in-law, Russell Brodhead. Don’s survivors include, wife Sunbeam Swanson, daughter Pauline Norman (Duane), son Donald Lee Swanson (Marilyn),grandchildren Janelle Weitzenkamp (Jon), Jonathan Norman (Desirae), Jamie Watson (David),Justin Swanson (Mandy), Grant Showalter-Swanson (Connor), 16 great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law Frances Brodhead.

Don A. Swanson (1930-2024)

Darrill Lee Crouch, age 85, of West Des Moines, IA (formerly of Broken Bow) passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Arbor Springs Dementia Care in West Des Moines, IA.

He was born on March 15, 1939, to Merrill and Marie (Nixon) Crouch in Arnold, Nebraska. The family lived on a farm near Arnold until moving to their ranch in Blaine County in 1944. The family moved to Burwell in 1959. Darrill attended grade school in Blaine County and high school in Taylor, NE graduating with the class of 1957.

&nbsp;On June 26, 1960, he married Shirley Hesselgesser in Burwell, and to this union two children were born: a son, Douglas Ray, and daughter, Teresa Lynn. In 1966, the family moved to Broken Bow where Darrill worked for Becton-Dickinson, retiring in 1999. Having grown up on a ranch and working for ranchers in his early years, Darrill always had a love for raising cattle. After retiring from B-D, he raised cattle full-time. For several years he raised and sold herd bulls. As his health began to fail, he fully retired in 2020. &nbsp;ln November 2023, Darrill and Shirley moved to West Des Moines, IA to seek skilled dementia care and be closer to family.

Darrill's family was always very important to him, and he loved every opportunity he had to spend time with them. John (Jerry) Ahrens, 93, left his earthly body and assumed his incorruptible heavenly body the afternoon of May 31, 2024. &nbsp;Jerry was surrounded by his immediate family and special friends as he took his last breaths.

John (Jerry) William Ahrens was born on July 4, 1930 in Scottsbluff, NE. &nbsp; He and younger sister Jane were the children of John F. and Margaret Ahrens of Arnold, NE. &nbsp;Except for a couple of years in Lusk, WY, Jerry grew up on a farm south of Arnold where he attended the Mackley country school through the 8th&nbsp;grade, then attended and graduated from Arnold High School. &nbsp; Jerry first met Darb (Darlene) Spencer at a house party in Broken Bow. &nbsp;Jerry was dancing with a young lady and as he bent her back, he spotted Darb as she walked into the room and promptly dropped his date on the furnace grate. &nbsp; Jerry and Darb were married on New Year’s Eve, 1948, and proceeded to spend their entire 2-week honeymoon snowed in at the Spencer farm with Jerry’s new in-laws. &nbsp;Jerry and Darb lived and farmed 9 miles south of Arnold, NE where they raised three children: Cindy, John, and Carla. &nbsp;In 1984, they retired from farming and moved into Arnold. &nbsp;Jerry and Darb shared a heart of compassion for anyone in need. &nbsp;It was not uncommon for Jerry and Darb to have someone, related or not, living in their home for weeks and even months at a time while they ministered to their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. &nbsp;People were the focus of Jerry’s life and as a result, he positively impacted a host of individuals who were blessed by his friendship and humor.

Jerry is preceded in death by Darb, his wife of 62 years and great-grandson Doyle (Dub) Bellew. &nbsp;He is survived by his children, Cindy Ahrens of Sidney, NE, John (Lu Ann) Ahrens of Edgewood, NM, and Carla (John) Huscher of Valley, NE, sister Jane Tucker of Arnold, NE, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.

Jerry Ahrens (1930-2024)

Juan "Johnnie" Salgado, 74, passed away at Kearney Regional Medical Center on May 28, 2024, in Kearney, Nebraska.&nbsp;

He was born on April 25, 1950, to Juan and Adelina (Martinez) Salgado in Laramie, Wyoming. Johnnie grew up in Mora, New Mexico, until the family moved to Greeley, Colorado, in 1967.

Johnnie held various careers throughout his life. He drove trucks for Davis Bros Trading Post and Balcom Chemicals. He provided custodial services for Porter and the City of Greeley. After a few years in custodial work, he transitioned into security for Hatton in Greeley, CO. In 1995, Johnnie moved to Espanola, New Mexico, where he continued as a security officer for Guard It Security. In 1997, he began working for the City of Espanola, first in the Parks Division and later in the Sanitation Department. He maintained his position with the city for eight years until a shoulder injury from a tractor rollover forced him into early retirement.

In 2007, Johnnie moved back to Greeley, CO, and in 2008, he traveled to Nebraska to spend time with his children and grandchildren, eventually settling in Lexington, NE. Retirement wasn’t for him, so in 2014, he began working as a Customer Service Representative for Express Laundry, where he remained for the next ten years until his untimely death.

Johnnie spent his free time listening to his police scanner and investigating the action. He was an extremely kind, friendly, and social man, always willing to give his last penny, offer rides, or even the shirt off his back to anyone in need. His humorous wit, jokes, and kind-heartedness made him a well-known person in every community he lived in, making new friends everywhere he went. He was always willing to help, whether it was fixing cars, helping someone move, or cutting their lawns for free. His ultimate loves were cruising and his animals. He hated feeling caged in, so he was always out and about, cruising the country or around town with his dogs, or catching a beer or two with friends and family.

Johnnie is survived by his aunts, Viola Martinez of Greeley, CO; Paula (Salgado) Esparza of Lexington, NE; his children, Juan (Rebecca) Salgado of Greeley, CO, Lucia (Steven) Salgado of Lexington, NE, Esther Salgado of Lexington, NE, Julio Salgado Sr. of Kearney, NE, and Bonnie (Randy) Salgado of Espanola, NM; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; as well as &nbsp;many nieces, nephews, and cousins.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his father, Juan Salgado (1971); mother, Adelina (Martinez) Salgado (2002); sister, Jane (Jenny) Martinez Duran (2008); brothers, Leroy Jose Salgado (2012) and Samuel (Sammy) Salgado (2021); the love of his life, JoAnn (Georgia) Cruz (2000); son, Peter (PJ) Joseph Antuna (2020); and an infant granddaughter in 1998.&nbsp;

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, with family receiving guests from 5 to 7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, Nebraska. The service will be live-streamed via the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home Facebook page.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Beverley Grafel passed away at the age of 83 on June 1, 2024 from Endometrial Cancer. &nbsp;She was born in Indianola, Nebraska to Albert and Eva (Hill) Young. &nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; Beverley graduated from Indianola High School in 1959. &nbsp; She married Elmore Grafel on June 4, 1961. &nbsp;They bought a house and moved it south of Culbertson in 1964. &nbsp;Here they farmed and raised animals. &nbsp;She bottle fed many baby calves and they raised many pigs. &nbsp;She was a Girl Scout leader for 10 years; she was on the Board of Director for Girl Scouts of Kearney for six years and taught Sunday School for 25 Years. She has been a member of the Immanual Church of Christ in Herndon, Kansas. &nbsp;She was involved in many clubs: the Culbertson Women’s Club, Red Hatters, Women’s Guild, two card clubs and the Foxy Ladies. &nbsp;She was treasurer of UCC memorial fund and treasurer of North Herndon Telephone Company. &nbsp;She worked for Area Agency on Aging for 25 years. &nbsp;Her love was her grandchildren, sewing, visiting with people and her ducks. &nbsp;In her spare time, she made over 6700 potholders and some of them went to other states. &nbsp;She made over 100 quilts and gave some of them to neighbors and friends.&nbsp;

Beverley "Bev" Grafel (1940-2024)

Regina Bernice Barnes, known affectionately as "Genie," passed away on May 30, 2024 in Kearney, NE. She was born on July 28, 1945, in her hometown of Wahoo, Nebraska to Elbert Palmer and Mahala Palmer (Kuhn).

&nbsp;Growing up in Wahoo, NE was where she spent her childhood years before moving to Hickman, NE to begin her adult life. She had four beautiful children with her first spouse, Charles Eaton. Later, she married the love of her life, Charles “Keith” Barnes. Their devotion to each other was apparent to all. When they would gaze into one another’s eyes, their love was palpable. After meeting, they settled in Imperial, NE. Before her chronic health decline, she cherished the time spent dancing with her true love, Keith. &nbsp;Genie then led a fulfilling life raising her children and always being available to lend an ear and piece of advice to anyone, family or friend, who knocked on the door. &nbsp; Along with this, she worked as a waitress and eventually she went to college to complete her AA in Business. Genie also found happiness in gardening, crocheting and sewing. Many unforgettable family times often included playing games and cards. She will forever be known as the Farkle champion!! &nbsp;

Genie is survived by her sisters; Priscilla McGee and Cynthia Overby, her children; Melissa Foster (Brian), Nicole Eaton, Eric Eaton (Kristy Godsey), and Nancy Shearey (Chad); along with a legacy of 28 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren who will continue to honor her memory.

&nbsp;She is preceded in death by her father Elbert Palmer, mother Mahala Palmer (Kuhn), first husband Charles Eaton, husband Charles Keith Barnes, brother Augustus Palmer, and her niece Stacey Elsasser.

Genie touched the lives of many who she knew with her kindness, humor and selflessness. &nbsp;She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. To all of her family, she will always be known as everybody’s favorite (aunt, cousin, niece, sister etc.). &nbsp;&nbsp;

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 4 from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M. (MT) at Liewer Funeral Home in Imperial. &nbsp;

&nbsp; Mildred Corinne Tillotson, 91, of Farnam, Nebraska, died May 31, 2024 at her home in Farnam, NE. &nbsp;

Mildred was born on August 13, 1932 in Farnam, NE to Roland and Stella (Adkisson) Lehman.&nbsp;

Mildred's journey was one defined by compassion, dedication, and unwavering love for her family and community. As a farmwife and housewife, she dedicated herself to nurturing her family and tending to the land with grace and resilience. Her spirit of generosity knew no bounds as she touched the lives of many through her acts of kindness.

Mildred's remarkable life was adorned with various roles within her community - from serving on the Founder Day Committee to being an active member of the Sunshine Club, Monday Night Kids and United Methodist Women. Her involvement as a Scout Leader and contributions to the Farnam School Guidance club committee exemplified her commitment to nurturing the younger generations.

A woman of deep faith, Mildred found solace in collecting Angels and was a pillar of strength within the Methodist Church. She found joy in simple pleasures like shopping for loved ones, savoring delightful desserts, immersing herself in books, and surrounding herself with beloved cats.

Mildred's adoration for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew no limits, cherishing every moment spent with them. Her presence brought warmth and comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Raymond Tillotson of Farnam; their daughter Brenda (Randy) Edson from Farnam; sons Greg (Kaye) Tillotson of Omaha; Gene (Tammy) Tillotson of Kearney; nine grandchildren Sydney (Sam) Tillotson-Sehi, Colin Tillotson, James Tillotson, Ryan Tillotson all of Omaha, Crystal (Blane) Widick of Holdrege; Corey (Kim) Edson of Fort Pierre, SD, Corrine (Rick) Muenchau of Springfield, OH; Wesley (Jacey) Edson of Johnson Lake, and Brittany (Tregg) Reiss of Kearney; 12 great grandchildren, Brennan, Hunter, Christophe, and Darianna Taylor, Ryleigh Widick, Gunner, Ryker and Beckett Edson, Dalton and Kreaton Muenchau, Finnegan and Oliver Edson, and Teagan Reiss.

Mildred Corinne Tillotson (1932-2024)

&nbsp; Donnie Lee Franzen, 80, of Kearney, Nebraska, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2024, at Broadwell Senior Living in Kearney.

He was born October 4, 1943, in Gothenburg, Nebraska to John and Freda (Strickland) Franzen. He grew up in Farnam, graduating with the class of 1965.

Donnie was united in marriage to Sandy Parkhurst on June 20, 1965. They lived in Farnam, Nebraska. Four children were born into this union: &nbsp;Baby Austin, Steven, Scott, and Timothy.

After graduating high school, Donnie attended McCook Junior College, where he studied Agriculture and played football. He joined the Army in 1964, where he served as a mechanic. Donnie joined the US Army Reserves in 1968 and worked at the Farnam Coop. In 1971, Donnie joined the Farnam Bank, where he held multiple roles until his retirement as President in December 2011.

One of Donnie’s passions was drag racing. He built multiple race cars, which earned him several track records for speed and elapsed time. This passion went well beyond the track, as he always worked on a new project. While he had many different cars, his favorite was always his 1963 Impala. Growing up in the small town of Farnam gave Donnie another passion for athletics.

Donnie always believed that sports were a great way to teach values. He coached many teams throughout the years, and these values are still demonstrated in his boys and the others he coached. His passion for sports was evident in his boys, who all played college football. His competitive spirit remained throughout all his years, the most recent being card games with their dear friends Dave and Julie Axman of Kearney.

Survivors include children Steven (Jacki) Franzen of Fremont, Nebraska; Scott (Melissa) Franzen of Kearney, Nebraska; and Timothy (Sara) Franzen of Parker, Colorado; six grandchildren Noah Franzen of Lincoln, Reese Franzen of Fremont, Carter Franzen of Fremont, Kealey (Franzen) and Maverick Widdowson of Shelton, Avery Franzen of Kearney, and Bella Bujanda of Parker, Colorado. Numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sandy, and baby Austin.

The memorial service to honor Donnie’s life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kearney, Nebraska. Pastor Tim Barone will officiate the service. Following the service, there will be a time for refreshments, allowing attendees to share their memories and support one another. Burial will be in the Farnam Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. with military honors.

The family asks that you spend time with your loved ones in lieu of flowers or memorials, as this was one of Donnie’s greatest pride.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Alfred E. Lee Raby, 89, of North Platte, NE passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Community Memorial Nursing Home in Burwell, NE. &nbsp;Alfred was born on August 23, 1934 in Gastonia, NC the son of Ralph Jennings and Lura “Polly” (Hensley) Raby.

Alfred entered the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1954. &nbsp;He boxed while he was in the Air Force and was inducted into the “Carolinas Boxing Hall of Fame” with a combined amateur and professional record of 75 wins, 9 defeats. &nbsp;“He’s got the kind of heart the Lord ought to give every fighter” said renowned amateur boxing coach T.L. McManus. &nbsp;Al loved music and played professionally for most of his life all over the country. &nbsp;He played gigs in small bars and famous venues such as the “Palomino Club” where, in its heyday,&nbsp; many country legends such as George Jones and Willie Nelson hosted events. &nbsp;Al was a true “showman” and loved entertaining people. &nbsp;He had an endless catalog of songs from old country to old rock that he could play from memory. &nbsp;Al married Marie Hawley on September 1, 1975. &nbsp;He was a loving husband, supportive father, and proud grandfather. &nbsp;He loved a good corn boil with his family including a fun-filled competition of who could eat the most ears of sweet corn. &nbsp;He never met a stranger and inspired and impacted so many people in many positive ways through his encouragement and charisma. &nbsp;You could see the joy around him, and he shared it with others. &nbsp;The community of North Platte will surely miss Al “The Rock” Raby. &nbsp;

Raymond&nbsp;Streeter was born September 24, 1942, to Jacob and Marjorie Streeter at Elm Creek, NE. &nbsp;He passed away surrounded by his family at the North Platte Care Center on May 30, 2024, at age 81.

Raymond grew up in Elm Creek and graduated from Overton High School in 1961. &nbsp;He worked at Armour's until enlisting into the U.S. Army in 1966. &nbsp;Ray served a year in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1968.&nbsp;

On February 2, 1963, Ray married Judy Trembly in North Platte and to this union four children, Pamela, Michael, Todd and Doug, were born.

Ray worked at the local packing house for many years until he purchased his own business, Streeter's Processing, in 1995 at Hayes Center.

In his spare time, Ray enjoyed spending time fishing, golfing, hunting and playing pool, poker, cards and marbles as well as spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Pamela; granddaughter, Meagan; siblings, Floyd, Lloyd, Lucille, Lila, Pat, Chet, Loren Dean, Joe, Beverly Kay and Dwain; and brothers-in-law, Jerry and Claud.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Judy; sons, Mike (Shannon), Todd (Donna) and Doug (Laurie); grandchildren, Megan, Chad, Daniel (Chelsea), Michael (Amanda), Christopher (Ashley), Dustin (Anna), Denise, Kaylen and Logan; 12 great-grandchildren; his brother, Gene Streeter (Joyce); sisters, Shirley Dozier and Ellen Taylor; and many nieces, nephews, other family and his friends.

Raymond Streeter (1942-2024)

Ruth Valjean Nunamaker, born on January 30, 1941, in Templeton, PA, embarked on her final journey on May 29, 2024, at McCook Community Hospital in McCook, NE. She was a devoted wife to Paul Leslie Nunamaker, whom she married on April 18, 1959. Ruth was a Christian woman who dedicated many years to serving the Lord and sharing His teachings through various avenues such as Vacation Bible School and Sunday School for children.

&nbsp;&nbsp;Ruth's love for traveling was matched only by her adoration for her family. She took&nbsp;great joy&nbsp;in supporting her grandchildren at their events and found immense happiness in spending time with her grandchildren, most recently doting on her great-grandchildren. Ruth peacefully transitioned with her beloved family by her side.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She joins her husband, Paul Leslie Nunamaker, who passed away on November 13, 2017, along with other departed loved ones: June&nbsp;Lawaive&nbsp;Atherton, Tommy Kline (who passed in infancy), Philip Kline, and daughter-in-law Anne Nunamaker.&nbsp;&nbsp; Ruth Valjean Nunamaker is survived by her children: son,&nbsp;John Nunamaker; daughters,&nbsp;June and husband Joshua Boyd,&nbsp;Paula&nbsp;Brown&nbsp;and&nbsp;Edna Jessup; siblings,&nbsp;Larry Kline, Sherwood Kline, Georgia Jones; grandchildren Anthony Brown,&nbsp;Joshlynne&nbsp;and husband Jerod Corder, Natalie Boyd, Philip Boyd, Peter Boyd; great-grandchildren Jayelynn and Jameson Corder. She will be remembered fondly by all who were touched by her kindness and unwavering love.&nbsp;&nbsp;

&nbsp;&nbsp;Funeral Service will be held Monday June 3,&nbsp;2024&nbsp;at 10:00am (MT) at the Southwest Nebraska Holiness Church in&nbsp;Wauneta,&nbsp;NE with Pastor Lloyd Bley&nbsp;officiating.&nbsp;Visitation&nbsp;will be thirty minutes prior to the service.&nbsp;&nbsp;

 </figure>Ruth Valjean Nunamaker, born on January 30, 1941, in Templeton, PA, embarked on her final journey on May 29, 2024, at McCook Community Hospital in McCook, NE. She was a devoted wife to Paul Leslie Nunamaker, whom she married on April 18, 1959. Ruth was a Christian woman who dedicated many years to serving the Lord and sharing His teachings through various avenues such as Vacation Bible School and Sunday School for children.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ruth's love for traveling was matched only by her adoration for her family. She took&nbsp;great joy&nbsp;in supporting her grandchildren at their events and found immense happiness in spending time with her grandchildren, most recently doting on her great-grandchildren.
