Norfolk, Neb.- The NSAA Board of Directors have voted 5-3 in favor of Hastings hosting the softball state tournament with the state championship games being held at UNL Bowlin Stadium through 2026. The state championship games have been played the past two years at Connie Claussen Field located at the UNO campus. 

Championship games were moved to a different venue so the games can be televised on Nebraska Public Media.

NSAA awards Hastings State Softball through 2026, finals to be played in Lincoln

Atlanta, GA - The State of Nebraska had two legends inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame on Tuesday night in Atlanta, Georgia. Former Husker Football coach Frank Solich, and North Platte native Danny Woodhead.

Solich led the Huskers to the 2002 BCS National Championship game. Solich served as an assistant at Nebraska from 1979-97, coaching the running backs, before becoming the head coach. As an assistant to Hall of Fame coach Tom Osborne, Solich was part of the coaching staff on three national championship teams (1994, 1995, 1997), and he recruited and coached Heisman Trophy winner and College Football Hall of Famer Mike Rozier .Solich is the winningest coach in Mid-American Conference history with 115 overall wins, Solich led the Bobcats to four MAC East titles (2006, 2009, 2011, 2016), and his 77 conference wins rank second only behind College Football Hall of Fame coach Herb Deromedi, who posted 90 victories during his career at Central Michigan. The Cleveland, Ohio, product became the first inductee ever from Ohio and the seventh coach from Nebraska to enter the Hall.

Woodhead, a North Platte High legend, finished his career at Chadron State as college football's all-time leading rusher before a near 10 year run in the NFL including a super bowl appearance with the New England Patriots..

Woodhead is Chadron State's first-ever College Football Hall of Fame inductee.

 He was A three-time First Team All-American (2004, 2006-07), Woodhead twice claimed the Harlon Hill Trophy as the most valuable player in Division II (2006, 2007). A four-time Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) First Team selection, he was the RMAC Offensive Player of the Year three times after being selected as the RMAC Offensive Freshman of the Year in 2004. He was named the most valuable player for Chadron State all four years in college, and he was also named the All-Century Offensive Player by the RMAC.

 Woodhead finished his Chadron State career as college football's all-time rushing leader with 7,962 yards, and he owned 21 NCAA Division II records when he graduated. The records included most consecutive games rushing 100 or more yards (16), games rushing 200 or more yards (19), most consecutive games scoring a touchdown (38) and most yards rushing in a season (2,756 in 2006).

Woodhead currently is the co-CEO of Arise Venture, a business consulting firm in Nebraska. A scratch golfer, Woodhead made a run at becoming a professional golfer, falling just short of qualifying for the U.S. Open. He was inducted into the Chadron State College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2023.

North Platte, Neb. – Five players finish in double-digits as Knights defeat Hastings College JV, 73-62, on Tuesday night.

Nevaeh Golden led the Knights with 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field, while Kateria Gooden added 16 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Nariah Golden chipped in 12 points, while Jada Thompson and Zaily Mazarin each added 10 points apiece.

Hastings held a 7-6 edge at the media timeout in the first quarter. A 6-0 spurt behind four points from Sa'Naii May stretched the Knights lead to 12-7 with 2:15 to play. The Broncos rallied with their own run to knot the game up at 12-12 on a three by Stella Heapy.

A layup from May triggered a 9-3 run that extended into the early moments of the second quarter. The black and gold continued to maintain control in the final minutes to take a 40-28 lead into the halftime break.

Back and forth basketball continued into the third quarter, as the Knights continued to hold a double-digit lead. Hastings trimmed the margin to 54-44, but an 10-2 run pushed the margin to 64-46 with 9:14 remaining in the fourth.

A late rally dipped the margin to 71-62 inside two minutes to play, but North Platte closed the game out on a pair of free throws by Nariah Golden.

Knights (7-6) return to road action on Friday against Kansas City Kansas Community College. Tip is set for 5:30 p.m. at Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley in Kansas City, Mo.

Knights return to win column with victory over Broncos

North Platte, Neb. – North Platte erased an eight-point second half deficit to defeat Central Community College, 74-67, to open conference play on Tuesday night.

"We did a good job of not panicking and taking one possession at a time," said head coach Jacob Brandl. "Overall, I was really happy with our defense and guard play down the stretch."

Sedrick Nari led the way with 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field, as North Platte forced 14 second half turnovers to rally from a 55-47 deficit with 10:26 to play.

A 13-2 run capped off by a three-point play from Nari gave the Knights their first lead of the game with 6:44 remaining. The Raiders kept the margin within three possessions, until a 6-0 run cut the deficit to 67-65 inside the final two minutes.

North Platte put the final touches on their win by going 7-of-8 from the free throw line in the final minute to seal the game.

Mo Diao recorded his fourth double-double of the season totaling 12 points and 10 rebounds in 25 minutes, while Trey Summers (13) and Maurice Reide (10) round out the North Platte players in double digits.&nbsp;

Raiders capitalized on the up-tempo offense to build an 11-4 lead in the opening minutes of the first half. A short 4-0 spurt with 11:27 remaining cut the margin to three, but the Raiders responded by stretching their lead into double digits with 9:36 to play.

Knights went back to work and managed to cut the margin to 29-23 after four quick points by Diao. Raiders continued to respond down the stretch to carry a 41-33 lead into the break.

North Platte (7-5) will wrap up the first part of their season this weekend with a doubleheader of basketball beginning on Friday. Knights open the Region IX Shootout in Sterling, Colo. with Central Wyoming at 5:30 p.m.

 <li>The North Platte High School IronDawgs powerlifting team competed at Omaha Creighton Prep's Early Bird tournament on Saturday, and walked away with a nice collection of hardware.&nbsp; More than 200 lifters from 15 different schools competed in the squat, bench press, and deadlift events in the season opener.&nbsp;</li><li>For the girls, Myah Porter and Grace Wilke were both champions for NPHS, with Gabby Gartner bringing home silver, Abby Hankla taking 3rd, and Jayden McBeain and Adyson Stroud both placing 5th in their respective weight divisions.</li><li>For the boys, Seth Penn and Cole Tomlinson were individual champions in their weight divisions, with Brock Matuszczak picking up a second place medal, Jacob Carlson 4th, and Drew Cummings placing 5th.</li><li>Coach Arttie Parker said that forty-seven personal records were set by the 23 lifters who competed, with six lifters competing for the first time. Parker stated several members of the team stayed home to rest up as they head to Lexington next weekend for a USAPL National Qualifying tournament on Saturday. Parker indicated he anticipates as many as a dozen lifters will qualify to travel to Appleton, WI in March for the National Tournament. with seven athletes having already qualified at the Cornhusker State Games this past summer.&nbsp;</li>

Lincoln -&nbsp;Senior transfer Alberte Rimdal led a balanced Big Red attack with 12 points and a career-high six assists, as No. 25 Nebraska rolled to an 84-65 women's basketball win over previously unbeaten Minnesota in the Big Ten Conference opener for both teams on Sunday afternoon at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Senior Alexis Markowski just missed a double-double with 11 points and a game-high nine rebounds, while Minnesotan Callin Hake added 11 points of her own including a trio of three-pointers to help the Huskers improve to 8-1 overall and 1-0 in the Big Ten. Nebraska also extended its home winning streak to 10 straight games. The Golden Gophers slipped to 10-1 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

Amiah Hargrove rounded out the four Huskers in double figures with 10 points and a career-high eight rebounds in just 14 minutes off the bench to lead a hugely productive effort by the Big Red freshmen. Petra Bozan pitched in nine points and five rebounds, while Britt Prince contributed seven points and a career-high seven boards to go along with three assists.&nbsp;

As a group, Nebraska's freshmen combined for 26 points and 20 rebounds in 55 total minutes, while Minnesota's four returning starters of Amaya Battle, Mallory Heyer, Sophie Hart and Grace Grocholski combined for 31 points and 20 rebounds in 116 minutes.

Logan Nissley contributed eight points, while Kendall Moriarty added seven points in strong efforts. Minnesotan Kendall Coley also pitched in five points and six rebounds in her second consecutive start. Coley scored all five of her points late in the second period to send Nebraska to halftime with a 36-19 lead.

Nebraska's 84 points were 28 more than any of the previous 10 Gopher opponents were able to muster, as the Huskers hit 51.7 percent (31-60) of their field goals, including 12-of-28 threes (.429) against a Minnesota squad that had been allowing just 46 points per game. The Big Red also dominated the glass, 49-30, against a Gopher club that entered the game with a plus-8.8 margin on the boards.&nbsp;

The Huskers held Minnesota to just 35.2 percent (25-71) shooting for the game, including just 17.9 percent (7-39) in the first half. The Gophers finished 5-for-21 from three-point range after going 1-for-14 in the first half. Minnesota did win the turnover battle, 15-4.

Nebraska opened the game on a 12-2 surge that included four points from Markowski, a putback from Nissley and back-to-back threes from Prince and Hake to set the tone for the game.&nbsp;

Minnesota rallied to cut the lead to six points at 17-11, before Hargrove sparked a 10-0 run with eight straight points in a 1:09 stretch, including back-to-back three-pointers. Prince capped the run with a bucket at the buzzer to send the Huskers to the second quarter with a 27-11 lead.

In a low-scoring second quarter, Minnesota cut the lead to 27-15 with two early baskets before Rimdal scored four straight. Alexsia Rose, who had 10 points in just over 11 minutes off the bench for the Gophers, then scored Minnesota's final four points of the half, while Coley responded with five for the Big Red.

Minnesota scored the first two buckets of the third quarter, and eventually trimmed the margin to 46-34 with 3:36 left in the period. However, a Hargrove basket followed by five straight points from Bozan and a three-pointer from Rimdal capped a 10-1 surge that gave Nebraska its first 20-point of the game at 56-35 with 1:45 left in the quarter and forced a Minnesota timeout.

Nebraska took a 21-point lead to the fourth and built the margin to 28 points, the last time on Moriarty's three-point play with 5:28 left to make it 74-46.

All 11 Huskers scored at least one point and grabbed at least one rebound in the game, while Minnesota played just eight players. Heyer led the Gophers with 12 points and eight rebounds, while Tori McKinney added 11 points. Grocholski and Rose both pitched in 10 points, while former Husker Annika Stewart added nine points, including seven points in the final five minutes to help pull the Gophers within 20 at the buzzer.

Huskers overwhelm Gophers in Big Ten opener, 84-65

Cheynne, Wyo. – A 23-point third quarter helped the Golden Eagles of Laramie County defeat North Platte, 74-59, on Saturday afternoon.

Zaily Mazarin led the Knights with 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field, while Jada Thompson chipped in 12 points and four steals off the bench.

North Platte matched the Golden Eagles bucket for bucket well into the second quarter. A layup by Nariah Golden sparked an 8-3 run that helped North Platte build a 21-16 lead. Laramie County responded to retake the lead on a three by Nuria Florensa with 4:55 remaining.

Kateria Gooden broke up the rally with a free throw line jumper, but another run extended the Golden Eagles lead to 33-26 inside the final three minutes. Back-to-back buckets from Mazarin triggered the Knights offense, as they closed the quarter on a 7-0 run to tie the game up at 33-33.

Out of the break, Laramie County used a 13-4 run to build a 46-39 advantage. North Platte would cut the deficit to four two minutes later, but Laramie County never let the Knights get any closer down the stretch.

North Platte (6-6) will return home to take on the Broncos of Hastings College JV on Tuesday. Tip is set for 5:30 p.m. inside the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium

Laramie County cut the margin down to one twice over the next 3:26, but an 11-4 run pushed the Knights lead to 37-25 inside five minutes to play. Laramie County used eight straight points from Bennett to trim the margin to four, but a clutch three from Alex Harper triggered another short run to help North Platte carry a 46-37 lead into the break.

The Knights lead grew to as many as 25 in the second half, as they continued to control the tempo on their way to a 21-point win.

North Platte shot 44.2 percent (34-77) from the field, while connecting on 10-of-24 from long range. Knights won the rebounding battle, 54-36, while turning 19 offensive rebounds into 22 second chance points.&nbsp;

North Platte, Neb. – Freshman Zaily Mazarin scored a career best 29 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a 71-62 loss to Air Force Prep on Wednesday night.

Mazarin now has four double-doubles in ten career games for the black and gold. Nariah Golden, Nevaeh Golden and EmmaJo Locks each recorded seven points for North Platte.

A 10-1 run midway through the first quarter gave the Huskies a 18-9 lead. Sa'Naii May connected from long range to break up the run, before five straight points pushed the margin to 11 at the end of the opening ten minutes.

North Platte used an 8-2 run to open the second quarter to cut the margin to five on a jumper by Kateria Gooden. The Huskies responded with a 14-4 run over the final eight minutes to build their largest lead of the game at the halftime break, 41-24.

Mazarin led the second half resurgence by scoring nine of North Platte's 11 points to open the third quarter. The Huskies lead never trickled under ten in the frame, as they held a 55-40 lead headed into the final quarter.

A 12-2 run to open the final ten minutes cut the margin to five on a three by Nariah Golden. Air Force Prep retaliated with their own run over the next 2:38 to stretch their lead back into double digits. The Huskies continued to hold the momentum down the stretch to close out the win.

Knights (6-4) will begin a two-game road trip beginning with the Lancers of Eastern Wyoming College on Friday. Tip is set for 6 p.m. in Torrington, Wyo.

North Platte's Peyton Neff part of three UNK Volleyball players named to D2CCA All-Central Region Team

Lincoln&nbsp;- Britt Prince scored 14 points to lead four Huskers in double figures as No. 25 Nebraska outscored Lindenwood 42-18 in the second half to pull away for a69-48 women's basketball win at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Tuesday night.

Prince, a freshman from Omaha, scored 11 points in the second half to help the Huskers improve to 7-1 on the season, while Lindenwood slipped to 4-3.

Alexis Markowski, who scored eight points in the fourth quarter, added her third consecutive double-double with 11 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for the Huskers, while Callin Hake contributed 12 points, six rebounds, three assists and four steals.&nbsp;

Freshman Petra Bozan rounded out the four Huskers in double figures with 10 points and three rebounds in strong effort that included eight points in the first half to keep the Huskers within striking distance. Logan Nissley added a solid effort of her own with nine points, while Allison Weidner and Jessica Petrie both pitched in four points in a low-scoring affair.&nbsp;

Nebraska prevailed despite going 1-for-10 from three-point range in the first half, while Lindenwood connected on 6-of-13 first-half threes. The hot shooting by the Lions allowed them to take a 30-27 lead to halftime, after the Huskers led 15-14 at the end of the opening quarter.

Hake, Prince and Nissley set the tone for Nebraska at the start of the third quarter, combining for 12 points to shoot the Huskers to a 39-36 lead at the first media timeout in the second half. Prince added a three-pointer in the closing minute of the quarter to send the Big Red to the fourth with a 46-41 edge.

The fourth quarter was all Huskers, as another Prince triple pushed the margin to double digits for the first time at 58-48 with 4:40 left. Prince's three was part of a 16-0 Nebraska run to close the game that included a three-pointer by Kendall Coley, who made her first career start in 113 games as a Husker.

For the game, Nebraska finished at 45.3 percent (29-64) shooting, including 6-of-22 from three-point range after going 5-for-12 in the second half. The Big Red won the battle of the boards, 43-35, while also finishing with a plus-six turnover margin (19-13).

The Huskers held Lindenwood to 1-for-12 from long range in the second half with the long make coming on a bank shot from the deep right wing - the second deep bank shot of the night for the Lions. After going 11-for-26 overall from the field in the first half, Lindenwood was held to just 6-for-29 shooting in the second half by the Huskers to finish the night at 30.9 percent (17-55).&nbsp;

“We were really unselfish on offense and aggressive on defensive tonight,” said head coach Jacob Brandl. “Our guys were completely locked in from start to finish and I thought our attention to detail was the best it has been.”

It was a tightly contested opening five minutes until a 21-3 run propelled the Knights out to a 29-13 lead. During the nearly six-minute stretch,&nbsp;Maurice Reide&nbsp;led the Knights with six points including a one-handed jam in transition.

Broncos cut the margin to 29-15 with 6:35 to play, but an 8-3 burst by the Knights extended their lead to 19. Hastings once again paused the rally with a corner three, before an 11-2 run gave the Knights a 48-23 halftime lead.

North Platte surged out of the break to construct a 63-31 lead on a pair of Reide free throws. A quick 7-0 Bronco burst narrowed the margin to 25 with 13:54 to play. The Knights never let the Broncos get any closer as they stretched their lead to 40 by the end of regulation.

2025 Omaha Supernovas Single-Match Tickets Now on Sale

The Nebraska football program announced today that Dana Holgorsen has signed a two-year contract to serve as the Huskers’ offensive coordinator.

Holgorsen joined the Nebraska program in early November, first as an offensive consultant, before moving into the role of coordinator and play-caller for the final three games of the season. Holgorsen’s two-year contract will pay him $1.2 million annually.

Under Holgorsen’s direction, Nebraska improved on offense over the final three games, highlighted by a 44-25 victory over Wisconsin on Nov. 23. In that game, Nebraska posted its highest point total since 2021, while its total offense (473), rushing offense (180) and passing offense (293) outputs were all the second-best of the 2024 season.

“We are excited that Dana Holgorsen has agreed to be our offensive coordinator moving forward,” Nebraska Head Coach Matt Rhule said. “Dana is one of the elite offensive minds in football, and the progress we made in our final three games provides a glimpse of the potential of our offense under his direction. We look forward to Dana leading our offense into the bowl game and building for the 2025 season.”

Holgorsen joined the Huskers this fall after spending the past 13 seasons as a head coach at West Virginia (2011-18) and Houston (2019-23). He owns a 92-69 record as a collegiate head coach, ranking second at West Virginia in coaching victories and fifth on Houston’s all-time wins chart.

In addition to being a successful head coach, Holgorsen boasts an impressive resume as an offensive coordinator. Holgorsen spent six seasons as an offensive coordinator at Texas Tech (2005-07), Houston (2008-09) and Oklahoma State (2010). In his six seasons as an FBS coordinator, Holgorsen’s offenses had an average national finish of second in passing offense, third in total offense and sixth in scoring offense. All six of the offenses Holgorsen served as coordinator ranked in the top three nationally in passing, the top six in total offense and the top 13 in scoring offense.

Holgorsen has coached more than 20 All-Americans and 50 NFL Draft picks, including five top-10 picks. His players have won major national awards such as the Biletnikoff, Paul Hornung, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm and Jet awards. Holgorsen also coached the only two players to be a two-time winner of the Biletnikoff Award as the nation’s top receiver.

Individuals have excelled in Holgorsen’s offenses. In 19 seasons as an offensive coordinator or head coach, nine quarterbacks have had a 3,000-yard passing season with a total of 15 individual seasons with 3,000 or more passing yards. &nbsp;On the offense’s performance&nbsp;

“The thing I was most happy with today was the start. You talk in these early games about how important it is to go out there and throw the first punch and I thought we did that. I think it was 18-4 to start the game and the thing is, they switch one through five, and that’s the first time we’ve seen a defense like that. The thing you cannot do is get stagnant and just try to force it in against a mismatch. We took advantage of some mismatches but once the ball shifted the defense side to side, I thought our activity was good. I thought we got our hands on some balls which got us out and in transition. I thought we did a really nice job finding Connor (Essegian). He obviously had it going again for the second straight game and guys did a good job of finding him. Overall, I think the movement was the thing that I was most pleased with. 22 assists, six turnovers – we are continuing to make strides in the right direction with that and we’re going to need it obviously once we start playing Big Ten games next Saturday.”&nbsp;

“It’s all we talked about. Especially in this early game, we’ve got another one next Saturday, we play at noon. We need to go out there and get off to a great start in a really tough building. I’ve spent a lot of time in that building with a son that played for Coach (Tom) Izzo. If you get off to a tough start, they’re going to be right on top of you. It’s really hard to come back on Michigan State in East Lansing. It’s going to be important to be able to continue to grow. I like the direction we’re moving in and we’re getting better every game. These guys put a lot of stress on you with their ability to shoot the ball, averaging 13.5 threes a game. They made 14 today but we did a great job shutting off the paint, similar to the Creighton game. You can’t give them both. If they shoot a lot of threes, you can’t give them the paint as well. I thought we did a really nice job with that. Again, I was pleased with our hand activity, getting deflections and turning those into points. You need to have possessions like that.”&nbsp;

On the collectiveness of the offense

“Again, we were careless early, that showed with not only the turnovers but the unforced turnover rate that we had. The first probably three games we had a couple solid ones, then we took a step back. Now we have to keep taking steps in the right direction. We can’t give away possessions when you play teams like Michigan State and Indiana, which are the next two. This was an important game. Guys knew that coming in. I’m proud of how they prepared and went out and took care of business. This is a team that beat Georgia Tech handily and they beat South Carolina and they played Georgia pretty tight for the entire game. I think that’s a team that’s going to win a lot of games in their league. So this was a big win for us and to win it going away like we did after they went on a run, I think is definitely a good sign.”

“I’m pretty confident. It just kind of comes with just having fun and just playing. Having&nbsp; guys on the team, and coaches and the staff that you trust and just enjoying being around and playing with. Like Brice (Williams) said, we’re doing a good job just getting guys open. Whether it’s me or anyone else on the team. That just comes with trust that we’ve built. As we go throughout the season and just continue to get better and better and everyone will get open shots.”&nbsp;

On goal of hitting eight threes in a game

“If it happens, it happens. I’m not really too worried about it. As long as we keep winning and keep this hot streak going.”&nbsp;

“It kind of started freshman year, when that really started to develop a little bit. When they started to get scouting reports out and started to try to get me off the line. I’m just trying to develop a full game as scouting reports keep coming out to try to get me off the line. Just to be able to open things up for me and for other guys, if I’m able to get inside the lane and dish and help other guys get shots. It helps the whole team.”&nbsp;

“Definitely can’t overlook any opponent and we were stressed with this opponent because of the resume they have. We were locked in. We were motivated and we have to protect home court. That’s the biggest thing and also non-conference is a big thing and KenPom it’s a big thing. We were all focused coming into the game.”&nbsp;

“Focus is always to get off to a high start. The team that leads first is usually the team that can make a change. You don’t want a team like this, dangerous teams like this, to hang around the whole game because then if it gets late it’s just going to be too much pressure then they have too much momentum so they get a lot on their side. So the goal is always to start out fast.”&nbsp;

“I’m the only one that turned the ball over as a guard. Our focus has always been to make two-foot plays, make simple plays and take care of the ball. I know some games get away from us early and that really allows teams to hang around. But this game, we were stressing about taking care of the ball and making good, simple plays. That’s what we did tonight. It was pretty easy, it wasn’t anything difficult.”

“To their credit, they did a really good job from the jump. We decided with yesterday’s travel and the earliness of the game to not come in and do shootaround. Probably looking back at it, in hindsight, we probably should’ve come in just to give our guys a better opportunity to know what they’re walking into. They jumped on us early. The second half, we cut it to 16 with the ball and missed a three to cut it to 13. To our guys’ credit, they came back and fought through that. They did a really great job, Coach (Hoiberg) was really prepared. Obviously, we become much more of a hunted program especially when you beat other power four teams. They understand what you’re about and what you do. And to their credit, they were prepared. They really, really came in with an understanding. Turnovers probably at the end of the day, we’ve done a great job of not turning the ball over and it led to 25 of their points. So, we have to understand that, and we have to learn from this.”&nbsp;

On what’s upcoming for North Florida

“We have to travel home, we have an early three A.M. tomorrow morning and then get back and get ready for Thursday night. We’ve got Warner coming into town and it’s going to be a quick turnaround. We’ve got another road game after that and then finals. We’re going to be ripping and running really well in the next seven to 10 days. We’ve just got to do a great job of getting back and getting this thing taken out and then getting back on the floor to continue to improve and get better.”

 <li>Nebraska has now won 17 straight at home dating back to last season.&nbsp;</li><li>Nebraska’s 103 points is the most since scoring 110 against Doane on Dec. 17, 2021. The last time NU scored 100 points against a Division One opponent was 100 in a four overtime loss to NC State on Dec. 1, 2021.&nbsp; Nebraska has had season highs in points in each of the last two games.&nbsp;</li><li>Nebraska shot a season-high 58.0 percent and a season-best 45.8 percent from 3-point range in the win. It is the first time NU shot at least 50 percent this season.</li><li>Connor Essegian led Nebraska with a game-high 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting, including 6-of-8 from 3-point range. He is the first Husker in the Big Ten era to hit at least six 3-pointers in consecutive games, as well as the first in at least 20 seasons. Essegian is the first Husker with multiple games with at least six 3-pointers in a season since Kobe Webster in 2020-21.&nbsp;</li><li>Essegian’s 22-point effort was his second straight 20-point night and fourth of his career. It is the first time in his three seasons he had consecutive 20-point games.&nbsp;</li><li>Brice Williams reached double figures for the 11th-straight game dating back to last season, as he finished with 17 points and a season-high six assists.</li><li>North Florida’s 43 3-point attempts is a school record against Nebraska, breaking the mark of 42 set by Creighton on Nov. 22.&nbsp;</li><li>Nebraska had a 15-0 run from 18:15-14:42 in the first half, the sixth double-digit run this season for NU. The Huskers have had at least one double-figure run in each of the last five games.&nbsp;</li><li>As a team, Nebraska finished with 22 assists and a season-low six assists, In the last two games, NU is averaging 23.0 assists per game.&nbsp;</li><li>Nebraska had 53 points at halftime, making it back-to-back games for NU with at least 50 points at half.&nbsp;</li><li>Nebraska finished with five double-digit scorers in the win, matching the most this season.&nbsp;</li><li>Nebraska is now 1-0 all-time against North Florida and 8-0 against Atlantic Sun teams.&nbsp;</li><li>The Ospreys came into today’s game averaging 86.7 points for the game on 46% shooting and were limited to a season-low 72 points on 38.5% from the field.&nbsp;</li><li>Nebraska finished with a season high 12 steals, the fifth time in six games with double-digit steals.</li><li>Sam Hoiberg matched his career high in steals with four, the last time he accomplished this feat was against Florida A&amp;M on November 9, 2023.&nbsp;</li><li>Nebraska’s bench out-scored UNF, 37-15, as the Huskers got double-figure efforts from Ahron Ulis (10 points, three assists) and Andrew Morgan, who had season highs in points (13) and rebounds (nine).</li>

The Nebraska volleyball team was selected as the No. 2 overall seed for the 2024 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship on Sunday night and will host the first and second rounds at the Bob Devaney Sports Center this Friday and Saturday.

The 4:30 p.m. match will feature Miami (21-10) of the ACC and South Dakota State (27-2) of the Summit League. Friday's winners will meet in the second round on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m.A limited number of tickets to the first and second round matches in Lincoln go on sale at Huskers.com/tickets on Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. First and second round matches will be streamed on ESPN+. Huskers Radio Network will have audio coverage of all Nebraska matches on Huskers Radio Network affiliates, Huskers.com and the Huskers app.Pittsburgh was the No. 1 overall seed, followed by Nebraska, Penn State and Louisville as the top four seeds.
