The Lincoln County Historical Museum was given the entire Brown-Harano Photo Studio’s archive of photographs.  The studio was located in North Platte, Nebraska.  The collection ranges from the 1930’s to 2017 and encompasses thousands of photographs. 

 The museum has removed any historical photos for our archives and per the request of the last owner of Brown-Harano Photo Studio we are using the rest as a fundraiser.  Anyone who might have had pictures taken at the studio can go to the museum’s website, lincolncountymuseum.org, and click on the Brown-Harano link to look at the database of names to find themselves or relatives. 

 If they find photos they would like to have they can call the museum or email the museum to request the photos.  As it is considered a fundraiser we would be grateful if a donation was made.&nbsp;

Lexington, NEB. - On Tuesday, January 23rd, at approximately 1:41 pm, The Dawson County Sherriff's Office was notified of a two-vehicle injury accident located at or near mile marker 337 on North Highway 21, north of Lexington.

It was then determined that the northbound vehicle being driven by 76-year-old Donna Prentice and occupied by passenger, 66-year-old Bobby Prentice, both of Oconto, Nebraska has crossed the center line and collided with a southbound pickup truck being driven by 45-year-old Patrick Berggren of Broken Bow, Nebraska.

The collision caused&nbsp; the vehicle being drive by Prentice to roll, where it came to a stop in the northbound lane of Highway 21 with her trapped inside.

The Lexington Rescue Department extracted Prentice where she and her passenger were transported to Lexington Regional Health Center for treatment of injuries that were sustained in the crash. Berggren was treated and released at the scene by emergency medical personnel.

&nbsp;To&nbsp;ensure&nbsp;water&nbsp;infrastructure&nbsp;safety,&nbsp;Nebraska’s&nbsp;Natural&nbsp;Resources Districts (NRDs) and other sponsors continue a strong partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) on several dam assessments across the state.

&nbsp;2023,&nbsp;18&nbsp;floodwater&nbsp;reduction&nbsp;dam&nbsp;assessments&nbsp;were&nbsp;completed&nbsp;with&nbsp;seven&nbsp;NRDs&nbsp;–&nbsp;Lower Big Blue, Lower Elkhorn, Lower Platte South, Nemaha, North Platte, Papio-Missouri River, and Upper Niobrara White. The cities of Bayard, Plattsmouth, Gordon, and the Pathfinder and Farmers Irrigation Districts were also joint local partners.

Dam assessments are detailed inspections that analyze the current hazard classification, determine if the dam meets current design standards and evaluate if any deficiencies are present. In some cases, corrective actions may be listed to address deficiencies or to meet design&nbsp;standards.&nbsp;Dam&nbsp;assessments&nbsp;are&nbsp;funded&nbsp;under&nbsp;the&nbsp;NRCS&nbsp;Watershed&nbsp;Rehabilitation Program, which was authorized in 1981.

“NRCS is pleased to provide technical and financial assistance to partners like NRDs, communities and others for addressing dam safety,” said Nebraska State Conservationist Rob Lawson. “Our&nbsp;purpose&nbsp;is&nbsp;to&nbsp;help&nbsp;local&nbsp;sponsors&nbsp;identify&nbsp;any&nbsp;needed&nbsp;improvements&nbsp;to&nbsp;ensure&nbsp;long-term structural integrity.”

NRCS’s first focus is to complete assessments on dams that provide flood protection upstream of&nbsp;towns&nbsp;and&nbsp;cities.&nbsp;Because&nbsp;of&nbsp;their&nbsp;location,&nbsp;these&nbsp;structures&nbsp;are&nbsp;classified as&nbsp;“high&nbsp;hazard”&nbsp;by the state of Nebraska and thus receive top priority for review.

“Local sponsors&nbsp;have done a&nbsp;great job operating&nbsp;and&nbsp;maintaining&nbsp;dams over&nbsp;the&nbsp;years; however, repairs&nbsp;or&nbsp;alterations&nbsp;may&nbsp;be&nbsp;needed&nbsp;as&nbsp;infrastructure&nbsp;ages,”&nbsp;said&nbsp;NRCS&nbsp;Dam&nbsp;Safety&nbsp;Engineer Bob Sullivan. “Many of these structures were built 40 to 60 years ago.”

On&nbsp;behalf&nbsp;of&nbsp;participating&nbsp;NRDs,&nbsp;the&nbsp;Nebraska&nbsp;Association&nbsp;of&nbsp;Resources&nbsp;Districts&nbsp;(NARD) coordinates the dam assessments with NRCS and contracted with local engineering firms including JEO Consulting Group and Houston Engineering.

“We appreciate the excellent work of the NARD to coordinate these assessments with NRDs,” Lawson said. “This is a great example of federal, state, and local entities working together to accomplish mutual goals.”

“Completing&nbsp;these assessments&nbsp;is the&nbsp;first&nbsp;step in&nbsp;securing&nbsp;additional&nbsp;federal funding&nbsp;to&nbsp;help address&nbsp;any&nbsp;dam&nbsp;deficiencies&nbsp;that&nbsp;may&nbsp;be&nbsp;found,”&nbsp;said&nbsp;NARD&nbsp;President&nbsp;Dr. Orval Gigstad. “This&nbsp;program&nbsp;is vital in&nbsp;helping NRDs protect&nbsp;the&nbsp;lives, property, and&nbsp;future of Nebraskans.”

NRCS and NRDs Continue Successful Partnership on Dam Assessments

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Union Pacific's fourth-quarter profit crept up 1% as the railroad delivered more fertilizer, imported goods and vehicles.

The Omaha, Nebraska-based railroad said it earned $1.65 billion, or $2.71 per share, in the quarter. That's up slightly from $1.64 billion, or $2.67 per share, a year earlier.

The results topped the estimates of the analysts surveyed by FactSet Research that called for earnings of $2.60 per share as Union Pacific hauled 3% more shipments.

CEO Jim Vena said the railroad's key operating metrics improved in the fourth quarter with average freight car velocity jumping 14% to 217 daily miles per car, and the average maximum length of Union Pacific's trains increased 2% to 9,413 feet. The average speed of the railroad's trains also increased 5% to 24.9 mph.

“We enter 2024 with strong momentum, recognizing we have plenty of opportunity to improve. We’re excited to show our stakeholders what our great team can accomplish,” Vena said.

Union Pacific said it's unclear how much volume will grow because of the “muted” economic outlook this year and uncertainty about interest rates. The railroad also lost a contract to haul some imported goods and it expects weaker coal demand.

“It’s very difficult for us to, look forward and say, this is exactly the way the year is going to go. More important to me and the team is what’ve we done operationally,” Vena said.

The railroad's revenue slipped slightly to $6.16 billion as fuel surcharge revenue declined with lower diesel prices and the mix of shipments shifted to a less-profitable mix of cargo and revenue per car declined 3%. But Union Pacific's topped Wall Street's predictions for $6.05 billion. revenue.

Union Pacific was able to keep its expenses flat during the quarter at $3.75 billion as it&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/union-pacific-railroad-management-layoffs-d72058d3154289e26c732492748bd452">laid off</a>&nbsp;a couple hundred managers and&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/union-pacific-track-maintenance-layoffs-railroad-safety-ac062bb01429a0176c298ae8ddfe3d98">more than 1,000</a>&nbsp;seasonal track maintenance workers as it delayed some capital projects at end of the year.

Edward Jones analyst Jeff Windau said Union Pacific had a good quarter of improving efficiency, which should continue under&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/union-pacific-railroad-ceo-jim-vena-06b2fbdf515e7f5aa8d82c0b2cafbc88">Vena</a>&nbsp;who was brought in last summer after a&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/union-pacific-railroad-earnings-ceo-jim-vena-6e9cefb37dacede8874dac62061e9850">hedge fund pressured</a>&nbsp;the railroad to improve its bottom line performance. Vena is known for the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/union-pacific-ceo-jim-vena-railroad-23365ccd844a91a7ba9d0cfd6b36fe0b">lean operating model</a>&nbsp;he favors that has become the&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/business-aab7d3084a8d17d8d721d2cb750be323">industry standard</a>&nbsp;in recent years.

“With Jim Vena being in charge now, we’re looking for continued momentum in efficiencies for the railroad,” Windau said.

The railroad said it plans to invest $3.4 billion in improvements to its network and equipment this year — down from $3.7 billion last year, but investors may be disappointed that Union Pacific doesn't plan any share repurchases during the first quarter.

Ogallala - The Youth Inspired Philanthropy Project hosted by the Keith County Foundations Fund is excited to see growth in the project as they head into their 4th year. Applications are open and are due on February 20th (<a href="https://www.keithcountyfoundation.org/yipapplication">click here for the application</a>). The showcase will take place February 22nd from 5:00pm MT - 6:30pm MT at the Kathleen Lute Public Library in Ogallala.&nbsp;

The showcase is open to area students from 3rd - 12th grade. Students can work alone, with friends, or work in groups, club or class. 10 winners can win up to $1,000 to complete a project. The event runs from 11am - 2pm. All proceeds from the fundraiser event will be used to further the mission of the Guardians of the Children - FlatRock Chapter.&nbsp;

Hershey students selected for Class C All State Band honors 

Panhandle/Sandhills/North Platte Post

This morning around 7:00am MT/8:00am CT, the Sidney Police Department has announced that Nathan Robinson was captured January 23rd, at 11:30pm MT in Colorado. Robinson was spotted driving the stolen Chevrolet Cruze.&nbsp;Robinson is being held in the Fremont County Jail in Canon City, Colorado.  He is being held on Local and State Charges.

The Sidney Police Department issued a press release on Monday night about their search for a Sidney man who is wanted, and as of Tuesday at noon the man is still wanted.

The man SPD is looking for is 23-year-old Nathan James Robinson who has a warrant for his arrest in connection to Assault, Robbery and Abuse of a Vulnerable Adult.

Authorities say Robinson was last seen driving the victim's red 2012 Chevrolet Cruze Sedan bearing Nebraska license plate 39-D310. Nathan&nbsp; is described as a 5'6 white man with red hair, a bald spot and red beard.

&nbsp;For any information on his whereabouts, SPD encourages you to reach out to an officer at 308-254-5515 with any information. We will follow up on leads as they come in.&nbsp;&nbsp;

 </figure>The Sidney Police Department issued a press release on Monday night about their search for a Sidney man who is wanted, and as of Tuesday at noon the man is still wanted.The man SPD is looking for is 23-year-old Nathan James Robinson who has a warrant for his arrest in connection to Assault, Robbery and Abuse of a Vulnerable Adult.Authorities say Robinson was last seen driving the victim's red 2012 Chevrolet Cruze Sedan bearing Nebraska license plate 39-D310. Nathan&nbsp; is described as a 5'6 white man with red hair, a bald spot and red beard.<figure>

Sidney police says wanted man has been arrested in Colorado

<a href="https://nebraskaexaminer.com/2024/01/23/new-senator-tries-again-to-make-texting-while-driving-a-primary-offense/">Nebraska Examiner</a>

LINCOLN — A record-high 19 Nebraskans lost their lives in distracted driving crashes in 2020, and a state legislative committee was urged Tuesday to do something about it.

But judging from the response from members of the Legislature’s Transportation and Telecommunications Committee, one step to do that — making texting while driving a primary offense — faces a tough road ahead, as in past years.

“Where do you draw the line?” asked State Sen. Mike Moser of Columbus, who chairs the committee.

Moser, along with some other members of the committee, posed a bevy of questions Tuesday about allowing law enforcement officers to pull over someone they see texting on a cell phone.

What would an officer have to witness? How could you prove someone was texting? Why not go after other forms of distractions, such as watching a video or talking on a cell phone or eating while driving? Would the bill be used to target drivers of color?

The questions have helped to derail several past efforts in the Legislature to make texting while driving a primary offense, which is now the law in 45 other states.

Currently, texting while driving in Nebraska is a secondary offense — like wearing a seat belt — for which a driver can be ticketed only if stopped for another infraction or if involved in an accident.

Central City Sen. Loren Lippincott, who was elected in 2022, has reintroduced the measure this year as Legislative Bill 1033, saying that Nebraska ought to join the growing number of states that are cracking down on cell phone use to reduce deaths and injuries.

“All the other states have done this. We need to get on board,” he said.

Last year, the Nebraska State Patrol wrote 112 tickets for texting while driving, an increase from the 76 citations written in 2022 and the 88 tickets issued in 2021. (The numbers include some tickets written to commercial truck drivers, who are already banned from using cell phones for any purpose while driving.)

But a Douglas County Sheriff’s lieutenant and advocates for highway safety said that making texting a primary offense has been shown to successfully change driver behavior and reduce cell phone use while driving by up to 76%.

“Driver behavior is very responsive to cell phone laws,” said Lt. Tim Owens of the Sheriff’s Office.

That office, Owens said, has investigated 35 accidents since 2019 linked to cell phone use.

In 2020 — the most recent year for which state statistics were available — there were 3,924 vehicle crashes statewide in which distracted driving was a factor, along with a record 19 fatalities, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.

That same office reported that 31% of crashes with drivers 19 years of age and younger involved cell phone use.

But enforcement is difficult, Owens told the committee. The sheriff’s office participated in campaigns during the past two years to crack down on driving while texting. But the “U Drive, U Text, U Pay” initiative in Douglas County, he said, resulted in no tickets being issued, which he blamed on the “weakened platform” of current state law.

Eric Koeppe of Safe Driving Nebraska said making texting only a secondary offense “sends the message” to officers and drivers that it’s not a priority.

34 states ban all hand-held cell phone use

Koeppe called LB 1033 a first step, and if the state really wanted to put a dent in distracted driving accidents and deaths, he said, it would do what 34 other states have done, which is to ban any use of a hand-held cell phone while driving.

“That’s the ultimate solution,” he said.

Koeppe added that a 2019 poll indicated that 89% of Nebraskans supported a law that allowed law enforcement to stop a driver and ticket them “solely” for texting.

But Spike Eickholt, representing the ACLU of Nebraska and the state’s criminal defense lawyers, opposed the bill. He said that law enforcement can already pull over “bad” or distracted drivers for a variety of reasons, such as driving too fast or too slow, swerving out of their lane or following too closely.

Plus, it’s already a crime — albeit a secondary crime — to text while driving, Eickholt said.

“This will do something more,” he said, empowering a police officer to pull someone over based on their observation.

Brainard Sen. Bruce Bostelman said the bill was “picking and choosing” one distraction to driving over others, and Lincoln Sen. Carolyn Bosn, a former prosecutor, questioned how an officer could prove someone was texting.

After the hearing, Lippincott said he was unsure whether someone would prioritize LB 1033, which would help its chances of being advanced by a clearly skeptical Transportation Committee and advancing to debate by the full Legislature.

There might be one glimmer of hope: In August, Gov. Jim Pillen&nbsp;<a href="https://nebraskaexaminer.com/briefs/pillen-says-we-need-a-serious-conversation-about-cell-phone-use-and-distracted-driving/">described an incident</a>&nbsp;in which a distracted driver forced the vehicle in which he was riding off the road.

His comment then was that some “serious conversations” were necessary on the issue of distracted driving.

New senator tries again to make texting while driving a primary offense

Acting United States Attorney Susan T. Lehr announced that on January 23, 2024, an operation led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Nebraska State Patrol led to the arrest of 19 people and the unsealing of at least nine indictments. Those arrested and a summary of their charges and the penalties include the following.

An indictment was unsealed charging&nbsp;<a>Alejandro Ruiz (age 41), of California, Guadalupe Ramirez (38) of North Platte, Roberto Duran (33) of Brule, Michael Shawn Harrell (47) of Ogallala, Eduardo Gomez (33) of North Platte and Carl McKinney (37) from Kentucky, with conspiracy to distribute over 500 grams of methamphetamine between January of 2021, and January of 2022. A conviction on that charge carries a possible penalty of not less than 10 years to life in prison, a fine of up to $10 million; and a term of supervised release not less than five years. Ramirez, Gomez, and Harrell also face charges of possessing a firearm during and in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.&nbsp; If convicted, they each face a term of imprisonment of five years to life, consecutive to the drug charge; a $250,000 fine and up to 5 years of supervised release.&nbsp; Harrell was also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. A conviction of that charge carries a penalty of not more than 10 years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine and up to three years of supervised release.</a>

An indictment was unsealed charging Jamie Hopkins (37), Michael Stroble (30); Joey Romero (36), and Luke Schwartz (30) all of North Platte, with conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine (actual) and distribution of meth between July 2022 through February of 2023. The penalties are not less than 10 years to life in prison, a fine of up to $10 million; and a term of supervised release not less than five years.

An indictment was unsealed charging Jessica Binegar (37) of North Platte, John Hernandez (35) of Lincoln and Brad Leeper (46) of North Platte with distribution of 5 grams or more of meth (actual) between March and June of 2022.&nbsp; Leeper was also charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.&nbsp; The possible penalties for distribution are not less than five years, nor more than 40 years in prison; a fine of up to $5 million; and a term of supervised release following the prison term of not less than four years.

Wesley Kraft (36) of Lincoln, was charged with distribution of five grams or more of meth (actual) during April of 2023 and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Timothy Huisman (39) of North Platte, was charged with distribution of five grams or more of meth (actual) in February of 2023. Shane Ross (46) of Ogallala, was charged with distribution of five grams or more of meth (actual) in July of 2022. Richard Torres (44) of Brule, was charged with conspiracy and distribution of more than five grams of meth (actual) between December 2021 and August of 2022.

Timothy Maisner (62) of North Platte, with possession with intent to distribute of 50 grams of more of methamphetamine (actual) and distribution of methamphetamine during January and July of 2023.&nbsp;

Eddie Houpt (59) of North Platte, was charged with distribution of five grams or more of meth (actual) in June of 2022.

LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) is reminding producers now is the time to make elections and enroll in the Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) programs for the 2024 crop year. The signup period is open through March 15, 2024, and producers are encouraged to begin working with their USDA county Farm Service Agency (FSA) office to complete the process.

Producers can learn about the ARC and PLC options for 2024 during a series of workshops hosted by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Center for Agricultural Profitability (CAP) and Nebraska FSA that will be held across the state in February.&nbsp;

ARC and PLC are key USDA safety-net programs that help producers weather fluctuations in either revenue or price for certain crops.

“Safety-net programs like ARC and PLC are designed to help producers mitigate some of the financial stressors associated with crop production. I encourage farmers to evaluate their program elections and enroll for the 2024 crop year,” said Nebraska FSA Acting State Executive Director Tim Divis.

Brad Lubben, Nebraska Extension policy specialist, said changes in commodity crop prices over the past several years may influence producers’ ARC/PLC decision-making process for 2024.

“With the one-year extension of the 2018 Farm Bill, producers face a familiar choice between ARC and PLC for 2024, but under different circumstances now as compared to the past several years,” said Lubben. “Understanding the program mechanics and analysis will help producers make sound enrollment decisions with FSA.”

ARC provides income support payments on historical base acres when actual crop revenue declines below a specified guaranteed level. PLC provides income support payments on historical base acres when the effective price for a covered commodity falls below its effective reference price. Producers can elect coverage and enroll in ARC-County or PLC on a crop-by-crop basis, or ARC-Individual for the entire farm, for the 2024 crop year. Although election changes for 2024 are optional, enrollment (signed contract) is required for each year of the program. If a producer has a multi-year contract on the farm, it will be necessary to sign a new contract for the farm by the March 15th deadline if a 2024 election change is desired.

If an election is not submitted by the deadline of March 15, 2024, the election defaults to the current election for crops on the farm from the prior crop year.

Divis said all program participants are encouraged to review their previous program elections.

 </figure>The Sidney Police Department issued a press release on Monday night about their search for a Sidney man who is wanted, and as of Tuesday at noon the man is still wanted.The man SPD is looking for is 23-year-old Nathan James Robinson who has a warrant for his arrest in connection to Assault, Robbery and Abuse of a Vulnerable Adult.Authorities say Robinson was last seen driving the victim's red 2012 Chevrolet Cruze Sedan bearing Nebraska license plate 39-D310. Nathan&nbsp; is described as a 5'6 white man with red hair, a bald spot and red beard.<figure>

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission approved grant awards for the Land and Water Conservation Fund Stateside Assistance Program and the Recreational Trails Program at its meeting Jan. 19 in Lincoln.

Commissioners approved the following grant awards, totaling more than $1.4 million, for the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) Stateside Assistance Program:

Funding from the LWCF comes from the U.S. Department of the Interior and federal oil and gas leases on the Outer Continental Shelf.

Commissioners also approved the following recreational trail projects for federal funding through the Recreational Trails Program (RTP):

Funding from the RTP comes from the Federal Highway Administration and is made possible by a portion of the federal motor fuel excise tax paid by users of off-road recreational vehicles.

Also, the commissioners approved staff recommendations to:

The commissioners set the dates for their April meeting to April 24-25 at Ponca State Park.

Two volunteer hunter education instructors were honored at the meeting. Gary Brunberg of Omaha received the Heritage Instructor Award and Kevin Hennecke of Adams received a 30-year service award.

 <li>Hickman, $130,216.80 to build the Scott’s Creek Trail, a 1,250-foot-long, 10-foot-wide concrete trail that extends an existing trail;</li><li>Cedar Creek, $250,000 to build the Fitness Zone Trail, a 4,400-foot-long concrete trail to promote health and wellness;</li><li>Curtis, $250,000 to refurbish approximately 1.2 miles of the Curtis Walking Trail by replacing deteriorating asphalt with an 8-foot-wide concrete loop trail near the golf course;</li><li>Creighton, $250,000 to build a non-motorized, mile-long paved Creighton Community Park Walking Trail that is no less than 8 feet wide to link different park amenities;</li><li>North Platte, $250,000 to build the Iron Horse Park Trail, which includes overlaying the existing north side 8-foot-wide by 2,528-foot-long asphalt trail with 2 inches of recycled material pavement, building an 8-foot-wide by 512-foot-long recycled material pavement over rock aggregate trail on the east, and creating a south-side trail linkage with a 10-foot-wide by 100-foot-long boardwalk and 283 feet of additional recycled pavement/aggregate trail to meet an existing sidewalk; and</li><li>Hastings, $250,000 to build Phase 4A of the Pioneer Spirit Trail, an 18,321-foot-long concrete trail that will vary in width from eight to 10 feet.</li>
 </ol>Funding from the RTP comes from the Federal Highway Administration and is made possible by a portion of the federal motor fuel excise tax paid by users of off-road recreational vehicles.Also, the commissioners approved staff recommendations to:<ol>
 <li>amend wildlife regulations to allow up to six people to apply on one application for certain big game draw permits, allow for internet and telephone checking of deer harvested during the November firearm season as an option to check stations, and clarify it is illegal to possess or sell, due to recent statute changes, any badger, bobcat, gray fox, long-tailed weasel, mink, opossum, raccoon, red fox, or skunk without a valid fur harvest permit.</li><li>amend wildlife regulations to allow for elk hunting on the Clear Creek Wildlife Management Refuge Area portion until the Sunday prior to Thanksgiving and restrict weapons allowed to be used at Bur Oak WMA in Seward County.</li>

The Spring 2024 Applied Technologies Job Fair will be from 10 a.m. to noon in Rooms 105, 107 and 109 of the W.W. Wood Building on the NPCC North Campus, 1101 Halligan Drive, in North Platte. The event is free and open to the public.

The fair will give prospective employees a look at current and upcoming job openings and will allow them to network with representatives from area businesses.

An emphasis will be put on electrical, building construction, welding, HVAC, automotive, auto body, diesel and CDL fields.

Guests are encouraged to take résumés with them. At their discretion, employers may choose to interview candidates on site.

Auditions for "Something Rotten" Feb. 12th and 13th

Over the weekend, the Ogallala Speech Team took part in the Alliance Speech Meet. The Indians would take 2nd place at the meet. Members of the teams were recognized with individual honors. The Indians speech team will be back in action this Saturday at the Perkins County Speech Invite in Grant.

Over the weekend, the Ogallala Speech Team took part in the Alliance Speech Meet. The Indians would take 2nd place at the meet. Members of the teams were recognized with individual honors.
