Canon Rath talked with Don Kurre about the 8th Music on the Bricks coming up on August 11-12th in downtown North Platte. The two discussed the event, vendors, and highlighted performers.&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE, NEB - The 8th Music on the Bricks is coming to North Platte August 11-12th in downtown North Platte. The two-day event features live music and vendors offering food and drinks. The family friendly event is only $5 a person to get in. "We go and close the streets downtown the bricks and this started back during the eclipse," said Co-Chair Don Kurre. "We will gather 1100-1200 people downtown with live music, food, and games."&nbsp;

The two-day event starts on Friday the 11th with the Baxter Band. The event runs from 7-10pm. Saturdays lineup will feature 3 bands with Drew Phillips band leading the day off. Top Shelf Country will perform from 7-8:30 and rounding off Saturday's lineup is The Platinum Pearls as they will take the stage from 8:30-midnight.&nbsp;&nbsp;

$5 cash to get in and there will be food vendors and ways to get drinks at the event. Live music from 4 bands during the two-day event. The event will be downtown on the bricks. For more information about the event, check out the podcast above or the graphic below.

North Platte City Council Meeting Tonight's Agenda

North Platte, Neb. —&nbsp; A closure will be in place on Francis Street between Dewey and Jeffers, beginning today, August 1, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. The closure is expected to be in place for approximately three (3) weeks.&nbsp;

The eastbound and westbound lanes of Francis Street will be closed. Motorists are advised to utilize alternate routes during the closure.&nbsp;

Paulsen, Inc. of Cozad is the contractor for this project. The closure will be for reconstruction of the concrete pavement on the Francis Street intersection.&nbsp;

Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and to put phones&nbsp; down.&nbsp;

2023 Keith County Fair Schedule

Canon Rath talked with Tiffany Hernandez about the Banisters Leadership Academy upcoming car wash fundraiser on August 5th but also takes a more in-depth dive of what Banister Leadership Academy is.&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE, NEB - The Banister Leadership Academy is a nonprofit that helps strengthen youth and families through leadership skills, life skills, social skills, and job readiness. The program is offered for kids k-12. "We have various different programs geared towards the community and the kids' ages," said Tiffany Hernandez. "They come in, we feed them a hot meal and we teach them those leadership skills."&nbsp;

The fundraising event going on August 5th is a free will donation car wash from 11am - 2pm at Wash Time North on the corner of 12th and Jeffers. "We are a nonprofit, so we are always doing local fundraisers, so we have a free will donation car wash this Saturday," said Hernandez. "If you come during your lunch break, Rowdy Rott BBQ is also going to have their truck there and they are donating 10% of their proceeds to our (Banisters Leadership Academy) nonprofit."&nbsp;

Canon Rath talked with Tayton Lucas, Josie Wilson, and Coy Corfield about the Lincoln County Fair Livestock sale and also talked with the group about their own involvement in 4-H.&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE, NEB - The Lincoln County Fair has slowly come to in end in North Platte but the 4-H participants geared up for the Lincoln County Livestock sale going on July 31st. This livestock sale is not like your typically livestock sale you may encounter. "It's a premium only auction so no livestock will actually be offered for sale," said Tayton Lucas. "The kids can bring there animals into the ring but whatever the amount is goes straight to the kids."&nbsp;

The complimentary buyers lunch was held from 11:30 am - 1pm with the sale beginning at 1pm. If you would like to learn more about the event but also these individuals involvements with 4-H, check out the podcast above.&nbsp;

This livestock sale is not like your typically livestock sale you may encounter. "It's a premium only auction so no livestock will actually be offered for sale," said Tayton Lucas. "The kids can bring there animals into the ring but whatever the amount is goes straight to the kids."&nbsp;<figure>

A dog that ran away in North Platte a week ago is getting a private flight home to Tennessee this weekend to be reunited with his family.

“Chewy,” a 10-year-old Border Collie, got loose at a North Platte motel on July 22.

After hours of unsuccessful searching, her family — which was moving from Idaho to Tennessee — had to resume their trip, according to Jessica Sprague, the vice president of a North Platte animal rescue group called FUR Animal Rescue.

Sprague said that the North Platte animal shelter discovered that the dog was micro-chipped, and eventually, that led to reaching the owners, Alex and Kyra Brown. They said that they loved their dog, but could not afford a trip back from Munford, Tennessee, to Nebraska to pick it up.

That’s when the president of FUR,&nbsp;Jenn Porter-Milne, got to work, contacting a nonprofit group, Pilots for Paws, that provides flights for animal rescues.

On Saturday afternoon, Porter-Milne and her husband drove Chewy to Omaha, where they met volunteer pilot Allan Lindsay of Omaha, who will fly the dog home either Saturday night or Sunday, weather permitting.

Porter-Milne said Saturday that rescuing animals is “an absolute roller coaster” of ups and downs.

“Saving one animal won’t change the world,” she said, “but for that one animal, their world changes forever.”

PIERCE, NEB - Springfield edges Ogallala 2-1 in extra innings in day 1 of the 2023 Class B State Tournament. An exciting defensive battle between the two teams. Ogallala will face York in the elimination game tomorrow at 9:30am mountain time/10:30 central time. We will have the game live on air with pregame coverage to begin at 9:20am mountain time/10:20am central time on Flatrock 100.7 and online at&nbsp;<a href="https://flatrock1007.com/2093-2/">flatrock1007.com/2093-2/</a>

Springfield would get on the board first in the bottom half of the 1st inning. Springfields Gage Ryba would get on base with a single up the middle and later scored on the Tucker Riha fielder's choice.&nbsp;

Springfield would keep a 1-0 score till the top half of the 4th. Cleanup hitter and third baseman Jayden Curtis for Ogallala would reach base on an infield single. Curtis would steal 2 bags before left fielder Max Mueller would score Curtis on an infield single. Scored tied at 1-1.

Both teams would make great defensive plays throughout the game. There were times where Ogallala and Springfield would be threatening to score before getting out of jams.

In the bottom half of the 9th, Springfields Carter Grosdideair would reach base on a single. A few batters later, Bryson Banks would step up to the plate. Banks would draw the walk which would bring in Grosdideair to score to eventually win the game 2-1 in 9 innings.

Ian Shaw would get the start for Ogallala in this morning's game. He would go 7 2/3 striking out 2 and only allowing 4 hits. Aydan Halligan would finish the remainder of the game for Ogallala. Ogallala would also finish the game with 7 hits. Caden Rezac went 3-3 with 3 singles. Mueller would finish the game with 2 hits. Colton Knispel and Curtis also had a hit in the game.

Springfield would start Ethan Loffer on the mound and Loffer would throw 8 complete innings striking out 12 batters in his appearance. Keegan Stobbe would finish the game. Hitting wise, Springfield would collect 6 hits in the game. Stobbe went 2-4 with 2 singles.

Ogallala will take on York tomorrow in the elimination round after York fell to Wayne 7-4. Wahoo was victorious over Chadron 7-1. The last game of the day features Pierce and Haswell Const. Post 56. That game is scheduled to start around 7:30pm central time. Due to rain in the area this morning, the first game was delayed by an hour.

OGALLALA, NEB - The community of Ogallala is doing a community wide school supply drive. These donations can help local students be prepared for the upcoming school year. The supplies can be pretty much school related like notebooks, folders, backpacks are just a few examples. It has been asked not to bring pencils or crayons since there is a good amount donated, however they won't turn them away if you wish to donate some. You can take your supplies to the yellow bus at Wolf Auto in Ogallala.&nbsp;
