Union Pacific Corporation (NYSE: UNP) (“Union Pacific” or the “Company”) today announced that it has appointed Doyle Simons, former president and CEO of Weyerhaeuser, and John Wiehoff, former chairman, president, and CEO of C.H. Robinson, to its Board of Directors, effective immediately.

“The additions of Doyle and John are a continuation of the Board's ongoing refreshment process to ensure we have the right mix of skills and expertise to advance the company's strategic and operational objectives,” said Mike McCarthy, Lead Independent Director of the Board. “Both new directors bring impressive track records leading public companies as chief executives, serving on public company Boards, and experience partnering with Union Pacific. Director Jane Lute has been appointed to lead this new committee. In addition, Director Sheri Edison has been appointed as Chair of the Corporate Governance, Nominating and Sustainability Committee, effective August 14, 2023.

Following the appointments of Simons and Wiehoff, the Board now comprises 12 directors, 11 of whom are independent and 4 of whom have been added since 2021.

Union Pacific Appoints Doyle Simons and John Wiehoff to Board of Directors

McCook, Nebr - #2 Ogallala defeated #6 Broken Bow in walk off fashion in game one 4-3, then dominated Broken Bow in game two 17-8 to advance to the 2023 Class B State Tournament this weekend in Pierce, Nebraska. The tournament begins July 29th and runs through August 2nd.&nbsp;

It was a pitchers/defensive dual between both teams. Ogallala's Caden Rezac who got the start game 1 started the game with a strike out but ended up walking the next four batters which gave Broken Bow an early 1-0 but after a mound visit from Ogallala Head Coach Ty Benson, Rezac went on to strike out the top half of the side.&nbsp;

Starting on the mound for Broken Bow was Central Methodist commit Gavin Goodner. First pitch he threw, Rezac sent flying down the right field line for a solo shot homerun to tie the game at 1. Both pitchers only allowed 1 run through three innings.

In the bottom half of the 4th, Ogallala's Jayden Curtis started the inning off with a single. Next batter Max Mueller would walk to first. Goodner would battle back to strike out the next two batters. With two outs and Curtis at third, Mueller at second, Michael Redden was at the plate. Goodner, who thought he struck out Redden, was called for a balk by the third base umpire which scored Curtis to give a 2-1.

Ogallala would add one more run in the bottom of the 6th to expand their lead 3-1. In the top of the 7th, Broken Bow third baseman Hagan Campbell started the inning off with a double. Next batter, Eli Coble would reach first on a walk. Brice Chaplin would hit a double to centerfield which brought in two runs tying the game at 3. A hard-hit ground ball to Curtis was fielded and the throw was in time for out #3.

Cole Stokey would lead off the bottom of the 7th with a single. Coming to the plate later in the inning was cleanup hitter Curtis who would send a deep ball to centerfield which scored the game winning run where Ogallala won game one 4-3.

Rezac would throw 5 2/3 innings striking out 14. He didn't allow a hit. Colton Knispel would come in relief to finish the game. Knispel struck out 1 in his appearance. Ogallala would combine for 6 hits in the game.

Broken Bow's Caden Holm who is heading into his sophomore year of college and a member of the Hastings College Bronco baseball team would get his 2nd appearance against Ogallala. Aydan Halligan would get a single off Holm and later score in the top half of the inning where Holm walked him in. Ogallala would take a 1-0 heading to the bottom half of the 1st.

Colton Knispel would start the 2nd game for Ogallala after he had thrown 29 pitches to stay under the pitch count previously. Broken Bow catcher Max Dension which reach base after sending a double to left center field. Next batter Brice Chaplin would hit a 2-run homerun to left field to give Broken Bow a 2-1.

Ogallala would remain scoreless after the top half of the 2nd while Broken Bow would add 3 runs in the bottom half. This postseason, Ogallala has had games where they would explode in an inning. In the top half of the 3rd, Ogallala would score 8 runs. Only 3 hits in the inning, however Holm who would walk 6 batters and was pulled from the game. Chaplin would come in relief but could not get things rolling and would give up a single to Stokey and walk 2 batters as well. Ogallala regained the lead 9-4.&nbsp;

Broken Bow would slowly chip away at Ogallala's lead as they would add 2 more runs in the bottom of the 4th to make it 9-6. However, Ogallala would add 4 more runs in the top of the 5th. Then, they would add 4 more runs in the top of the 6th to make the score 17-6. Despite a late run from Broken Bow, who would add 2 more in the bottom of the 6th, the game was called due to mercy rule and Ogallala wins game two 17-8.

Ogallala is the 2023 B6 American Legion Senior District Tournament champion and earned a bid to the 2023 Class B State Tournament. Ogallala will take on Springfield Post 143 in the first found at 9:30 mountain time. Pregame coverage will begin at 9:20 mountain time.&nbsp;

Celebrating with the alums of every era—NSA, UNSA, UNSTA, NCTA—at the recent Aggie Alumni Day was a generation-bridging event. The impact of the education received, friendships, and memories made was brought to the forefront by an NCTA '23 Agribusiness graduate intern, Nathaly Dragoo, with a newly created video on the school's long history here in Curtis.&nbsp;

Nathaly has been working with our recruiting team this summer and has accomplished ambitious and impactful goals, which she shares, "Overall, my internship has been a positive and eye-opening experience to the digital media/marketing world. I hope to shine a light on some unique opportunities here at NCTA, allowing more people to see the potential opportunities in a way that connects with the newer generation of Aggies.&nbsp; I want to thank everyone here at NCTA for allowing me to bridge my love of digital art forms and agriculture to create a truly amazing internship opportunity!"

Nathaly grew up in Lincoln, but her father, Bruce, graduated from nearby Cambridge High School. His mother and Nathaly's grandmother, Ila, is an NSA alumnus. Growing up, she enjoyed visiting this region, and when she came to tour NCTA with her parents, she loved the small campus experience. Nathaly wanted to start a graphic design career and embraced the agribusiness opportunity. She has been very involved in working with the ranch crew and as an NCTA Shotgun Sports Team member.

In keeping with our promise of focusing on student goals and success, NCTA helped Nathaly evolve to incorporate her goals into her educational experience. In addition to the history video, Nathaly's short videos promote all aspects of NCTA—from academic programs to teams, campus life, and summer camps.

Importantly, she launched a TikTok page named NCTA Aggies. Although there has been resistance to this platform, we determined we must have a presence to meet students where they are; presently, it is TikTok. From our perspective, Nathaly's creative talent is exceptional, and we are fortunate to engage with her on our recruiting team this summer.

His mother and Nathaly's grandmother, Ila, is an NSA alumnus. Growing up, she enjoyed visiting this region, and when she came to tour NCTA with her parents, she loved the small campus experience. Nathaly wanted to start a graphic design career and embraced the agribusiness opportunity. She has been very involved in working with the ranch crew and as an NCTA Shotgun Sports Team member.In keeping with our promise of focusing on student goals and success, NCTA helped Nathaly evolve to incorporate her goals into her educational experience. In addition to the history video, Nathaly's short videos promote all aspects of NCTA—from academic programs to teams, campus life, and summer camps.Importantly, she launched a TikTok page named NCTA Aggies. Although there has been resistance to this platform, we determined we must have a presence to meet students where they are; presently, it is TikTok. “We feel thrilled to bring the Freddy’s experience to North Platte and look forward to serving the community with our cooked-to-order menu items made with premium quality ingredients, and fast, friendly service,” said Ron Oberg, franchise owner. “We’re a convenient stop for area shoppers and movie-goers looking for a quick bite to eat, as well as for guests who want to relax and enjoy a fresh meal and dessert treat with family and friends.”

The 3,348 square-foot, freestanding restaurant seats 88 guests, has additional seating on the patio and drive-thru service. Mobile ordering through the Freddy’s app and website is also available. NORTH PLATTE, NEB - A friendly but competitive fundraiser softball game is coming up between the North Platte Softball team vs the FNBO First National Legion Baseball team in a battle of the bats. Teammates Mentoring is a nonprofit organization that's mission is to positively impact the world by inspiring students to reach their full potential through mentoring. The proceeds of this event go to Teammates Mentoring. It's the 5th Annual Rumble by the River to battle between the boys legion baseball team and girls' softball team. "About 6 years ago my daughter was a softball player and there was a lot of banter back and forth between the boys and girl’s teams and I thought what a better way to raise money for Teammates is to have a game," said Molly Morales.&nbsp;

Ricky Holm, who is the FNBO Nationals Legion baseball coach, was apart of this event two years ago during his first year as head coach. "I know we did this two years ago in my first-year coach and it was a lot of fun," said FNBO Nationals Coach Ricky Holm. "Were getting out there for a good cause and competing against fellow classmates."&nbsp;

The event is July 30th at 6pm at the Dowhower softball Complex. Admission is $5 at the gates. FNBO Bank will be at the ballpark grilling food. "About 6 years ago my daughter was a softball player and there was a lot of banter back and forth between the boys and girl’s teams and I thought what a better way to raise money for Teammates is to have a game," said Molly Morales.&nbsp;Ricky Holm, who is the FNBO Nationals Legion baseball coach, was apart of this event two years ago during his first year as head coach. "I know we did this two years ago in my first-year coach and it was a lot of fun," said FNBO Nationals Coach Ricky Holm. "Were getting out there for a good cause and competing against fellow classmates."&nbsp;The event is July 30th at 6pm at the Dowhower softball Complex. Admission is $5 at the gates. FNBO Bank will be at the ballpark grilling food. There is also raffle tickets being offered with awesome prizes. NORTH PLATTE, NEB - Boxing is heading to North Platte this weekend when the Buffalo Bill Brawl returns to the D&amp;N Event Center. This weekend's event will be streamed on the NorthPlattePost.com Saturday and Sunday and the championship matches will be aired live on FM98-1 and AM 14-10 on Sunday. Boxers from 13 states will be in North Platte this weekend.&nbsp;

This boxing tournament is a well-known tournament in Nebraska. "It is a regional tournament that is the largest in Nebraska and we actually broke our record this year as we have 136 boxers coming from over 13 different states," said Brad Garrick. "Kids from all over the place will be here and it's a fun event." Some of the states where boxers come from are Nebraska, Colorado, Illinois, Michigan, North Dakota, Montana.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The event is this weekend at the D&amp;N Event Center in North Platte. There will be two sessions of boxing matches. Tickets are $20. If you would like to learn more about the Buffalo Bill Brawl, check out the podcast above.&nbsp;

The Hot Sheets: July 25th, 2023

McCook, Nebr - #2 Ogallala moves on to the B6 American Legion Seniors Tournament Championship Game after defeating #5 Holdrege 12-4 Monday night in the elimination game. Ogallala will have a rematch with #6 Broken Bow who they lost to 9-4 Sunday afternoon. Ogallala will have to win twice to advance to the state tournament. They will take on Broken Bow tomorrow at 4:30 MST. Ogallala's rematch with Holdrege started off very similar to the first time these two teams played in the first round of districts on Friday. Scoreless two innings for both teams before Holdrege would strike first in the bottom of the third. Holdrege's Matt Janssen would reach on base from a hit by pitch. Beau Jensen also reached base before Keagan Steinke would hit a 2 RBI double to give Holdrege an early l2-0.

Top of the fourth, Ogallala's Ian Shaw would hit a double in the inning. Max Mueller would also hit a double to score Shaw. Next batter, Colton Knispel single would score Mueller to tie the game at 2. Both teams would score a run in the fourth which resulted the score 3-3 after four completed innings.

This post season run, Ogallala has had an explosive inning minus the Broken Bow game and this time it was the top half of the fifth inning. The team would rack in 7 runs to extend there lead 9-2. Caden Rezac's two triples in the fifth was the highlight of the inning. Shaw would also hit a triple in the fifth inning as well.&nbsp;

Things got quiet tell the top half of the 7th when Rezac would send a three run homerun down the right field line to give us the final score of 12-4. Hitting and pitching was a key component for Ogallala in tonight's elimination game.

Getting the start for Ogallala tonight was Aydan Halligan. Halligan would throw 5 innings while striking out three batters. Cole Stokey would toss the 6th inning striking out one while Josh Christensen would finish the 7th inning striking out two batters. As a whole the staff struck out 6 batters and allowed 7 hits.

Holdrege would start Keagan Stienke who would go 4 2/3 striking out 4. Trey Weaver would come in relief but got pulled after 4 batters. Cole Guthrie would finish the game for Holdrege striking out three batters.

Ogallala's hot bats would finish the game with 14 hits. Rezac was 4 for 5 with a single, two triples, and a three run homerun. He was a double shy from the cycle. Shaw went 3 for 4 with a single and two doubles. Mueller was 2 for 5 with a single and a double.&nbsp;

Ogallala and Broken Bow are the last two remaining teams in the&nbsp;B6 American Legion Seniors Tournament. Broken Bow only has to win one while Ogallala will need to win twice. The winner will advance to the 2023 Class B State Championship tournament in Pierce, Nebraska. The tournament is July 29th - August 2nd.

Ten Point Construction Co., Inc. of Denison, lowa is the contractor for this project. Work includes concrete pavement repair and sealing. Traffic will be maintained with lane closures and flaggers. An 11--foot width restriction will be in effect. Anticipated completion is October 2023.&nbsp;

The purpose of this project is to preserve the transportation asset, improve the reliability of the transportation system and perpetuate the mobility of the traveling public.&nbsp;

Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and put phones down.&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE, NEB - It's fair week here for the Lincoln County fair. The fair festivals which begins July 26th - July 31st have plenty of events for everyone in the family to enjoy. However, the 4-H fair schedule began today with the dog show. Throughout the week, their are plenty of 4-H events from the bake good sales, to animal showings that are happening. For the festival events, the highlighted event this year is the Easton Corbin concert on Friday. Kearney native Jason Mayher will be the opener for Corbin. The event is located at the racetrack. The fair festivals which begins July 26th - July 31st have plenty of events for everyone in the family to enjoy. However, the 4-H fair schedule began today with the dog show. Throughout the week, their are plenty of 4-H events from the bake good sales, to animal showings that are happening. Kearney native Jason Mayher will be the opener for Corbin. The event is located at the racetrack. Gates open at 6pm, with Mayher starting at 7pm and Easton Corbin performs at 9pm. NORTH PLATTE, NEB - A heat advisory will go into effect today for counties in the region. According to the National Weather Service, a heat advisory will be in effect for the following counties, Lincoln, Keith, Perkins, Chase, Logan, Frontier, Custer, and Hayes. The effect will be issued at 1pm CDT/12 pm MDT and will be in effect tell 10pm CDT/9pm MDT tomorrow

According to the National Weather Service, Curtis in Frontier County will have the highest heat index at 104 degrees today and tomorrow. North Platte's heat index will reach 102 for today and also tomorrow, and Ogallala of Keith County heat index is 99 degrees today and will reach 101 degrees tomorrow.&nbsp;

Hot temperatures mixed with humidity can cause for potential danger heat illnesses to occur. Stay hydrated during this time and also to stay in a cool area.&nbsp;

Heat Advisory Goes Into Effect for the region

OGALLALA, NEB - According to the City of Ogallala, the city will start the process of fogging for mosquitoes around 8 pm MST today with weather permitting and the process will continue until the project is complete.&nbsp;

According to the City of Ogallala, the process could also take place in early mornings if weather is permitting. The city also wants to remind you if you are outside when the fog machine is coming, head indoors for your safety.

McCook, Nebr - The #2 Ogallala was defeated by the #6 Broken Bow in the winners bracket 9-4 in day 3 of the B6 American Legion Seniors Tournament. For Ogallala they will play Holdrege tomorrow at 5 pm MST in an elimination game.&nbsp;

Broken Bow, who was the visiting team in today's contest would strike first in the top half of the 1st inning on a Brice Chaplin RBI single. Broken Bow almost went up 2-0 in the top of the 1st but Ogallala first basemen Colton Knispel sent a laser home to gun out Broken Bow's Caden Holm. Broken Bow would again add another run in the top half of the 3rd inning extending their lead 2-0.

Ogallala would fight back on their own in the bottom half of the third inning. Ogallala's Ian Shaw hit a double into center field which would score Michael Redden. Aydan Halligan would score as well when Broken Bow pitcher Max Dension balked.

Broken Bow would go on a tear adding 7 runs to their lead while keeping Ogallala off the board. The bottom of the half, Ogallala had a late push that was unfortunately was not enough as they would fall 9-4.

Shaw would get the start for Ogallala as he went 5 innings, striking out three. Jessie Ortega and Max Mueller also saw action on the mound. Broken Bow's Dension would throw 5 innings striking out 10 batters. Hastings College pitcher Caden Holm would finish the last two innings for Broken Bow striking out three.

#2 Ogallala will take on Holdrege tomorrow at 5pm MST. Broken Bow will have a day off before they play in the&nbsp;B6 American Legion Seniors Tournament Championship game on Tuesday at 4:30 MST.&nbsp;
