James&nbsp;Thornton passed away at his home in North Platte surrounded by his family on September 18, 2022, at the age of 76.

James was born October 7, 1945, in Floydada, TX, to George and Isabell Thornton. He grew up in Omaha where he attended Omaha Public Schools and graduated from Tech High School.

On July 13, 1985, James was united in marriage to Kathy Hardnock at Jefferson City, MO. They lived in North Platte until moving to Omaha in 2012. James and Kathy had just recently returned to North Platte where they were members of Harvest Christian Fellowship.

James worked as a upholsterer then for Prem Door and Walmart DC, from which he retired. He loved to sing, fish and play volleyball. He played on various leagues at the Rec Center and spent many hours on the water. James especially loved being surrounded by his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his dad and stepmom, George and Willa Mae Thornton; mother and stepfather, Isabell and James Morehead; father-in-law, Robert Hardnock; brother, George, Jr. and sister, Ruby Thornton; daughters, Stacey Gonzalez and Rylee Thornton; and grandchild, Destin-2B Thornton.

James is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughters, Amber Thornton of Omaha and Ashley Bush of Cypress, TX; sisters, Doris Lewis and Shirley Goings of Omaha; grandchildren, Roman, Isiah, Tyja, Dyllan, Za'Kerrionna, Za'Lyiah, Za'Nayah, Zayleionna, Za'Riyah, Za'Renity, Ja'Mari, Ja'Kobe and Ja'Vontae; great-grandson, Roman, Jr.; mother-in-law, Joyce Hardnock of North Platte; and other family.

Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2022, at Harvest Christian Fellowship. Visitation is prior to services at the church. Cremation will follow the service. James Thornton (1945-2022)

Jeanene Helen (Shephard) Maloof, age 75, of Palisade, NE passed away on Friday, September 16, 2022 in Palisade.

Jeanene was born October 13, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah to parents Doyle Melvin Sheppard and Ruth Eva Jeffs Sheppard Meredith Jorgensen.&nbsp; She has two brothers, David Bell of Moab, Utah and John Meredith of West Valley City, Utah; and four sisters, Sherry Dodge of Laverkin, Utah, Gloria Rivera of Ogden, Utah, Stephanie Meredith of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and Shelley Meredith of West Valley City, Utah.&nbsp;

Jeanene grew up in Salt Lake City where she attended Granite High School. She was a member of the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Posse.&nbsp;

On October 15, 1962, Jeanene married Edward Lawrence Maloof. They were blessed with four children, Troy Lawrence Maloof, Sherlynn (Jim) Kirk of Palisade, Rhonda Lee (Lamar) McDaniel of Salt Lake City and Larry John Maloof of Sutherland, NE.

One day, about 40 years ago, Sherlynn was trying to get her mother’s attention across a large parking lot and yelled “Weenie”! &nbsp;The funny little nickname stuck and became the name that most people knew her by in later years.

One of Jeanene’s favorite past times was to sit around with her sisters and drink coffee; she also enjoyed playing cards or bingo.&nbsp; Jeanene loved her horses. In fact, she loved all animals, but the chief love of her life was her children, thirteen grandchildren and eleven beloved great grandchildren.&nbsp;

Jeanene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 42 years, Edward Lawrence Maloof; a sister, Doyleen Iverson; one son, Troy Lawrence Maloof; a granddaughter, Cheala Deserae Bateman; a grandson, Samuel Lamar McDaniel; and one great granddaughter, Kyla Nichea Martinez.

Those left to celebrate her life include her three children, Sherlynn (Jim) Kirk, Rhonda Lee (Lamar) McDaniel and Larry John Maloof; two brothers, David Bell and John Meredith; four sisters, Sherry Dodge, Gloria Rivera, Stephanie Meredith and Shelley Meredith; and many extended family members and friends.&nbsp;

Jeanene H Maloof (1946-2022)

Gerold Wayne Radcliffe, age 84, of Ogallala, died Sunday, September 18th, 2022 at the Medical Center of Aurora, Colorado.

Gerold was born on April 4, 1938 in Holyoke, CO to Dwight and Helen (Greer) Radcliffe. He grew up on a farm near Lamar, NE and attended District #4 rural school before entering High School at Imperial, NE, graduating in 1956. He attended Hasting College and receive is BA Degree in 1961. He finished his formal education at what was then Kearney State College with an MA Degree in 1969.&nbsp;

On December 27, 1959 he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Mona K. Bauerle of Imperial. To this marriage was born a daughter, Renae and a son, Burke.

Gerold belonged to the United Methodist Church for over 60 years and served on various committees in churches in Chappell, Sidney, and here in Ogallala, as well as being a member of the Elks, Ogallala Garden Club, RSVP and Kiwanis.

He was very interest in community service and was a member of Kiwanis International for over 45 years and loved involvement in youth through the teammates program and the Key Club.

Sports played a big part in his life, not only through participating in high school and college, but by coaching at Roseland, Lexington, and Chappell, all in Nebraska. He enjoyed attending about any sporting event and he and his "traveling buddies" attended every away football venue while NU was in the Big 12. He attended the college baseball World Series in Omaha for 37 consecutive years. This group also enjoyed many baseball games and track meets at NU as well. He also loved playing golf, as well as playing pool at the Senior Center in Ogallala.&nbsp;

In 1969, he entered the life insurance business as an independent agent. In later years, he also worked with investments and came to Ogallala in 1993 as the Investment Representative at the Investment center located in what was then the First National Bank and worked there until he retired in 2001.

While in Sidney, he was very active in many Kiwanis projects, officiated high school sports for over 20 years and served on the Sidney Public School Board of Education for 10 years.&nbsp;

Gerold is survived by his wife, Mona, of Ogallala; a daughter, Renae (Stephen) Parra, of Highlands Ranch, CO; a son, Burke (Nicky) Radcliffe, of Sidney; grandchildren; Clark Parra, Jacqueline Parra, Byron (Bethany) Parra, Brady (Madi) Radcliffe, Natalie Radcliffe;Great grandchildren, Scottie Keith, Hudson Parra, and Lily Jane Para; three sisters; Arlene Kivett, Marilyn Pierce, Jolee Radcliffe, all of Mesa, AZ; a brother, Larry (Dianne) Radcliffe of Imperial; as well as several nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents.&nbsp;

Services will be Saturday, September 24th, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Ogallala. Reverend Curt Magelky will be officiating.

The family as chosen cremation. Inurnment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Imperial, NE at a later date.

Memorials have been suggested to the Champion Community Center, the Champion Museum, or the First United Ogallala Methodist Church.

Gerold Wayne Radcliffe (1938-2022)

Barbara Ann Gutherless, 91, of Brady, NE, died September 17, 2022 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, NE.&nbsp;&nbsp;

On June 21, 1931 a daughter was born to John and Mary Weber at her Grandmother Liptrap's home in Gordon, NE. She was named Barbara Ann. She lived on the Weber Ranch until it was sold and then moved into Merriman, NE and lived in a little house next to the school where she started Kindergarten. Her parents moved to Brady and worked for the Haythorn Ranch and she attended school in Brady through the eighth grade. She attended school in Maxwell her Freshman and Sophomore years, went to Curtis Ag School her Junior year and back to Brady where she graduated with her original class of 1949.&nbsp;

Barbara married Richard G. Gutherless in Texas, on July 3, 1950 while he was stationed with the United States Air Force. They returned to the Gutherless Hereford Ranch in Snell Canyon and began their ranch life while raising Joe, Susan, and Kristi. After moving to the valley to add more hay ground to the ranch Scot was born. Barbara was busy keeping the household going, she was involved in Boy Scouts as well as helping with the many 4-H projects of her children. She was a wonderful cook and a beautiful seamstress.

Living on Highway 30 she used to joke that their driveway must have a secret sign that said, "This is a good place to stop" because they helped many people with food, gas, repairs and even shelter.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Barbara kept the books for the ranch and Gutherless Hay Service as well as working the livestock sales at North Platte Livestock Auction for 33 years. She and her husband enjoyed the two winters they lived in Wickenburg, AZ after they sold the cattle. They had celebrated 63 years of marriage when Dick passed away of cancer. She sold the house in Wickenburg and bought a home in Brady where she lived until April of 2021 when she moved to Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg.

Barbara passed away on September 17, 2022 at Hilltop Estates after a brief illness.&nbsp; She loved her family but we are sure there was a joyous reunion when God took her home.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Weber, her in-laws Frank and Ruth Gutherless, her husband Dick Gutherless, her son Joe Gutherless, her daughter Kristi Sukraw as well as her brother Jack Weber, sister-in-law Catherine Weber and brother-in-law Kenneth LeGrand.

Survivors are her daughter Susan (Bob) Golter, her son Scot (Karen) Gutherless, her grandchildren Teri Jo (Josh) Claussen, Jodi (Ryan) MacKenzie, Bobby Gutherless, Casey (Tina) Golter, Corey Golter, Alison (Justin) Hoeke, Riley (Jacinta) Anderson, Lucas (Brandi) Anderson, Jesse (Jennifer) Gutherless, Amber (Charlie) Douglass, and Danielle (Greg) Mooney, her sister-in-law Gayle LeGrand as well as 25 great-grandchildren, 3 great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Register Book Signing will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, NE; Wednesday, September 28, 2002 from 1:00-7:00 pm with the family present from 4:00-6:00 pm.

Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel, September 29, 2022 at 11:00 am.&nbsp;

Jerry Ray Houchin, 53, of North Platte, NE passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at his home. Jerry was born on February 25, 1969 in North Platte, NE the son of Dallas P. and Linda (Castor) Houchin. Jerry attended elementary and Jr. high in North Platte and high school in Colorado. He loved being a painter and started painting under his grandpa when he was just 5 years old. He worked as a painter alongside his brothers at Precision Painting. He enjoyed fishing, camping, race cars, and listening to old time country music. Jerry will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Dallas; and niece, Ryleigh. Jerry Houchin (1969-2022)

&nbsp; Leslie Dwane Houser was born January 20, 1940, at Imperial, Nebraska, to Willa Rhea (Norman) and Kenneth Houser. Les lived south of Venango, NE, and attended school there through the 6th grade. The family then moved to the Norman farm at Lamar, NE. Les then attended school at Lamar through the 8th grade. He then attended Chase County High School, graduating in 1958. In 1959 Les married the love of his life, Janice Johnston. They were married for 63 years. They were joined by Lori in 1960, Rae in 1963, Leslie in 1970 and Judd in 1971. Les was a farmer for several years and a school bus driver for Holyoke Schools. He always felt the call of the road by being a truck driver, so he joined Scholl Oil Company. Les trucked for them until 1977 when the Houser family moved to Wauneta, NE. Wayne and Marie Smith were like second parents to the Houser’s. Les had finally realized his dream of owning his own truck. He hauled cattle and grain. In 1999 Les bought his last truck and joined Behlen Manufacturing in Columbus, NE. He trucked from coast to coast. In 1986 Les and Janice bought a motorcycle and soon helped start the Frenchman Valley Riders. They enjoyed many rallies, rides and trips with family and friends. They then bought a toy hauler and began spending time in Texas and Arizona in the winter. In 2014 Les and Janice took their family to Disney World in Florida. His family was his pride and joy. Les passed away September 15, 2022, at the Wauneta Care and Therapy Center, Wauneta, NE. He was 82 years of age. Les was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Willa Houser; parents-in-law Clarence and Ellen Johnston; sister Sharon Houser Harris and brother-in-law Bill Johnston. David A. Sell, MD, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, September 15, at Perkins County Hospital in Grant, Nebraska. He was 83.

"Doc” was a general surgeon at Scottsbluff Surgical Associates / Western Nebraska Regional Center for 20+ years. He battled Crone’s Disease for most of his adult life which eventually led to his early retirement. In his spare time, he loved hunting and fishing, gardening, and building things, from model airplanes to duck blinds to computers.

He leaves behind his wife, Carol; children, Mark and Nicole; sisters, Claudia and Paula; grandchildren, Alexandra, Kizmin, Caitlyn, David and Tyler, and great-grandson Hagen.

&nbsp; FRANCIS JOAN "JOANIE" NELSON, 80, of Ogallala, passed away September 18, 2022, at the Perkins County Hospital in Grant. Joan was born in Ogallala to V. A. "Mike" and Vera L. (Leetsch) Harrington, the seventh of eight children. She was raised in the sandhills of Arthur before her family moved to Ogallala, where she graduated from high school in 1960. Joanie married Robert "Bob" Nelson at the Berean Church in Ogallala on June 5, 1960. The couple made their home south of Roscoe, and their union was blessed with three sons, Brent, Doug, and Scott. Joanie cooked at the Roscoe Stuckey's off and on throughout the years until 1982. She spent a few years cooking at Buttons and Bows daycare, which was connected to the Berean Church. After she and Bob moved to Ogallala in 1991, she worked at Prairie View Elementary serving breakfast and lunch for several years. Joanie's journey in this life was marked and shaped by faith in Jesus. As a young girl, she was stricken with polio; her walk with Christ would remain close throughout her life. She loved reading her Bible and doing devotions. Joanie had a smile that lifted the people around her and a gregarious demeanor. She loved to bake and was so gifted. Joanie's baking was always a memorable treat, from her chocolate zucchini cake to her cinnamon rolls and everything in between. In addition to being a wonderful grandma and great grandma, Joanie fostered meaningful connections with her nieces and nephews, who affectionately dubbed her "Aunt Do Da." She also considered her grandchildren's friends to be part of her family. Joanie didn't neglect telling family and friends what they meant to her, especially when sending them one of her famous holiday greetings, always signing off with "you are very special to us" and "we love you." Joanie will be remembered for her deep faith and the special way that she modeled the love of Christ to her husband and family. Preceding Joanie in death are her parents; grandson, Hunter Nelson; brothers, Phil, Jack, and Rex Harrington; brothers-in-law, Ray (Donna) Nelson, Norm, and Dave Nelson. Francis Joan Nelson (1942-2022)

&nbsp; Merle Gimeson, 92, of Grant, NE, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Imperial Manor in Imperial, NE surrounded by family. Merle was born August 15, 1930 at Orleans, NE, the sixth of eleven children to Otis and Anna (Smith) Gimeson. On July 11, 1954, Merle married Hazel Courtain at Oxford, NE. Their union was blessed with five children, Richard, Joyce, Henry, (Merle) Dewayne, and Christopher. Merle and Hazel resided in Yuma, CO when they celebrated the birth of their first son, the family lived in Orleans, NE when they welcomed their daughter. In 1961, the family moved to Grant where Merle was employed by Jones Construction. Merle had many interests including woodworking, fishing, and hunting. Merle was a Veteran of the Korean War, achieving the rank of Sargent for the Tank Corp division. Merle was the business owner of Merle's Plumbing in Grant for many years. His knowledge of construction, mechanics, and plumbing served him well and much of that knowledge was shared with his children. Merle was preceded in death by his wife, parents and nine siblings. Survivors include his children, Richard (Cherie) Gimeson of Norton, KS; Joyce (Robert) Forgen of Ogallala; Henry (Brenda) Gimeson of Windsor, CO; (Merle) Dewayne (Donna) Gimeson of Chadron, NE; Christopher Gimeson of Gothenburg; brother, Russ (Celeste) Gimeson of Spring Hill, FL; Grandchildren, Joshua, Riley, Zachary, Craig Allan, Vern Dale, Wade, Devon, Logan, August, Victoria; Great Grandchildren, Ravi, Rylee, Callie, Camden, Kennady, and Jake; a special friend, Samantha, and many friends and extended family. Janet was born October 29, 1936, to Walter George and Amanda Lydia (Tappan) Carland&nbsp; in a sod house at Gandy. She moved with her family to North Platte in 1941. She married the love of her life Dennis George Razes on April 14, 1956, at Julesburg, Colorado.

Janet is survived by three daughters Denise (Bruce) Brummer of Merna, Cathy Razes, and Brenda (Steve) Heinzle of North Platte; grandsons Dennis G. (Heather) Razes II of Wellfleet and Joshua Tudor of Omaha; granddaughter Dusty (Tim) Maul; Great-grandchildren Charity Flippo of Arlington, WA., Amanda Prososki of Creston, Morgan Nowatzke of Huron, SD, Tyson Hunter of Carroll, Iowa, Baily Schrader and Shaylin Talbot of Atkinson, , Destaney Mills and Angel Mills of Wellfleet, Sydney Eller, and Megan (Drew) Steinhauer of Hastings; eight great-great grandchildren including Raiden Smith and his Grandma Tina Crowell of North Platte. Janet is also survived by her lifelong best friend (sister) Ida Ingles of San Augustine, TX., sisters-in-law Esther Rutan of North Platte and Christena Jancarik of Costa Mesa, CA and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Marilyn Maxine Ehmen, 86, of North Platte, passed away September 15, 2022 at North Platte Care Center.&nbsp; She was born on April 26, 1936 to William and Sophia (Parde) Ehmen in Louisville, NE.

Marilyn grew up in Burchard, NE.&nbsp; She married William Corter in 1972 and to this union a daughter Amy was born.&nbsp; Marilyn worked as a caregiver, taxi cab driver in Beatrice, bartender, and homemaker.&nbsp; She loved to fish and camp.&nbsp; Marilyn liked visiting with people, was very generous and took people in as her own.&nbsp; She took in a young lady named Charlotte who stayed with her for many years and became family.&nbsp; Many people called Marilyn “Mom”.

Survivors include her daughter, Amy Corter of North Platte; granddaughter, Tena Jefferson of North Platte; great grandchildren, Averie Jefferson, Elijah Jefferson, Maverick Biere; siblings, John (Mary) Ehmen of Topeka, KS, Verna Mae Richardson of Pawnee City, NE, numerous other family members and many friends.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, William and Sophia; husband, Paul Lintz; siblings, Erma and Don.

 </figure>Marilyn Maxine Ehmen, 86, of North Platte, passed away September 15, 2022 at North Platte Care Center.&nbsp; She was born on April 26, 1936 to William and Sophia (Parde) Ehmen in Louisville, NE.Marilyn grew up in Burchard, NE.&nbsp; She married William Corter in 1972 and to this union a daughter Amy was born.&nbsp; Marilyn worked as a caregiver, taxi cab driver in Beatrice, bartender, and homemaker.&nbsp; She loved to fish and camp.&nbsp; Marilyn liked visiting with people, was very generous and took people in as her own.&nbsp; She took in a young lady named Charlotte who stayed with her for many years and became family.&nbsp; Many people called Marilyn “Mom”.Survivors include her daughter, Amy Corter of North Platte; granddaughter, Tena Jefferson of North Platte; great grandchildren, Averie Jefferson, Elijah Jefferson, Maverick Biere; siblings, John (Mary) Ehmen of Topeka, KS, Verna Mae Richardson of Pawnee City, NE, numerous other family members and many friends.Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, William and Sophia; husband, Paul Lintz; siblings, Erma and Don.Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Riverview Cemetery near Sutherland with Pastor Jeremy Rinke officiating.&nbsp; Adams &amp; Swanson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Marilyn Maxine Ehmen (1936-2022)

Meryl (Mick) Lou McMichael peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on September 15th, 2022 at the age of 84, at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, Nebraska.&nbsp;

Meryl was born to Richard Artie and Ora May (Clement) McMichael on August 9th, 1938 in Farnam, Nebraska. Growing up, he spent his time working on the homestead. He also had two sisters, Janet and Julia.

Meryl met the love of his life, Sharon Hite and the two were married on May 15th, 1957 in Eustis, Nebraska. Together they had three children: Kenneth Eugene, Lynnette Kay, and Kevin Lee. The family lived in numerous rural places including Farnam, Kennedy, Maxwell, and then eventually came to settle in Gothenburg.&nbsp;

A country man at heart, Meryl loved spending time with his horses, especially Bell, Babe, and Scrappy. He was an avid lover of music, and could often be found playing his fiddle, guitar, or his harmonica. Meryl spent time in the army, and was involved in the Gothenburg Volunteer Fire Department. He worked many jobs, including Maline's, as a mechanic at Lepp &amp; Osterloh, the Department of Roads, picking thistles, farming, ranching, truck driving, and driving the senior center bus. He was known for his sense of humor, his infectious laugh, and his loveable personality.

Surviving are son, Kenneth (Tammy) McMichael of Gothenburg, NE; daughter, Lynnette McMichael of Kearney, NE; son, Kevin (Dawna) McMichael of Franklin, NE; sister, Janet Steuerwald of Farnam, NE; many grandchildren including Emily (CJ) Stoddard, Amanda (Bryan) Goldrich, Blayr McMichael, Kevin Jr. (Becky) McMichael, Teran (Michaela) McMichael, Christopher Kobza, Alex (Ray) Wolcott, Gavin McMichael, Alexander Maiwaldt; 14 great grandchildren, and many extended family, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Meryl was preceded in death by his parents, sister Julia and her husband Leroy, wife Sharon, and other loved family members.

Meryl's celebration of life will be at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at 10:30 am.&nbsp;

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Tuesday, September 20, 2022, 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm with the family present from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm.&nbsp;

Interment will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery.

Meryl McMichael (1938-2022)

Jerald L. Cantrell, age 88, of Callaway, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney.

Jerald was born April 29, 1934, at Anselmo, Nebraska to Ray and Mabel (Castle) Cantrell, the youngest of seven boys. He grew up and attended schools at Callaway, graduating from the Callaway High School in 1951. He married Donna Jean Morrison on April 29, 1956, at the Callaway Evangelical United Brethren Church. They farmed and ranched northwest of Callaway for fifty-eight years. He also worked for Bosley Fertilizer, Spargo Propane, George Halstead-Gulf Fertilizer, and Bellamy Elevators. He was partner for several years in Callaway Agri Service Elevator and later owned and operated a feed store in Callaway.

Jerald was a fifty-year member of the Seven Valleys Rodeo Association. He and Donna played pinochle with a neighborhood card club for many years. He cooked for the men’s prayer breakfast at the church for over 20 years. In his later years, he played pool at the Callaway Senior Center and enjoyed having coffee with his friends, he always had a story to tell. He never missed the Molly Bee Polka Show on Saturday nights. Jerald’s family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone at the Callaway Good Life Center for the care he received.

His funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 19, 2022, at the Callaway United Methodist Church with Pastor Shanon Williams officiating.

Visitation is from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, at Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Callaway.

Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Callaway.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Barbara Jean Masur, age 77, of Culbertson, NE, passed away at her home. She was born in McCook on July 6, 1945, to Percy and Dorothy (Wallace) Minary. Barbara attended school in McCook, graduating from McCook High School in 1963.&nbsp;&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; Barbara was married to Boyd Miller in Las Vegas, NV, in 1965, to this union four children were born: Cheryl, Diane, Todd, and Travis. Boyd preceded her in death on June 9, 2009.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; Barbara enjoyed sewing and was an excellent seamstress. She worked as an upholsterer for Mel’s Auto Restoration, and worked for over 30 years as a med aide at El Dorado Manor in Trenton. She enjoyed gardening, canning, making jelly, and baking pies. Barbara was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary 269, serving in many of the organization’s offices. She was an avid reader.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents, Percy and Dorothy; husbands, Boyd Miller and Melvin Masur; son, Todd Miller; grandson, Shane Miller; brother, Roger Minary; son-in-law, Dale Emhovick.&nbsp;

Barbara Jean Masur (1945-2022)

George&nbsp;Halley, age 84, of North Platte, NE, passed away at Linden Court on September 14, 2022.

George, the son of Vernon and Alice Halley, was born on the family farm southwest of Stockville on December 29, 1937. He grew up on the farm and attended North Star Country School then Stockville High School, graduating in 1957. In April 1958, George enlisted into the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. Following his discharge, George returned to Nebraska. He hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad and worked 31 years until retiring as a Carman in 1999. George married Iona Burton in Maywood, October of 1960. They made their home in North Platte and had three children: Kevin, Ken and Kristi. The family later moved to Hershey in '73 then returned to North Platte in 1984. After George and Iona divorced, he married Janice Madison in August of 1986 and they lived on a farm west of North Platte. George was a member of Grace Community Bible Church and Platte Valley and Southwest Tractor Clubs, and was a past member of the Eagles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Alice; sisters, Evelyn Hilker and Carol Walther; brother-in-law, Howard Chambers; and sisters-in-law, Claudia Dale and Corrine Brown. George is survived by his wife, Janice, of North Platte; sons, Kevin (Carol) Halley of North Platte and Ken (Les) Halley of Ft. Collins, CO; daughter, Kristi (Bill) Wever of Sutherland; stepchildren, Mike (Linda) Madison of Lexington, Steve (Caroline) Madison of Lincoln and Brenda (Roland) Erb of Gothenburg; and his sister, Doris Chambers of Cambridge. George Halley (1937-2022)

Theresa Suziann Rookstool Bivens, 58 of Kearney passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at St. John’s Good Samaritan Home in Kearney with her family by her side. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, NE.

Theresa was born November 24, 1963 in North Platte, NE to Larry and Creta Rookstool.&nbsp; In 1980, Theresa was united in marriage to Jim Jording and to this union 3 children were born: Erica, Paige and Logan. She later gave birth to another daughter, Adrian from a later relationship.&nbsp; Theresa then married Bill Bivens in 1999. She was a free spirit. Theresa loved Nebraska Football, her dog Harley and collecting Betty Boop items. She also enjoyed riding the Harley with her husband Bill.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Bivens; father, Larry Rookstool and two half brothers; two nieces and one nephew.

Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Creta Waltemath; children, Erica (Dude) Fester, Paige Jording, Logan Jording and Adrian (Mike) Cobb; brothers, Theron (Wilda) Rookstool and Travis (Angie) Rookstool; 8 grandchildren and two step grandchildren; three great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

She later gave birth to another daughter, Adrian from a later relationship.&nbsp; Theresa then married Bill Bivens in 1999. She was a free spirit. Theresa loved Nebraska Football, her dog Harley and collecting Betty Boop items. She also enjoyed riding the Harley with her husband Bill.She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Bivens; father, Larry Rookstool and two half brothers; two nieces and one nephew.Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Creta Waltemath; children, Erica (Dude) Fester, Paige Jording, Logan Jording and Adrian (Mike) Cobb; brothers, Theron (Wilda) Rookstool and Travis (Angie) Rookstool; 8 grandchildren and two step grandchildren; three great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Theresa Bivens (1963-2022)

Dallas M. Rigler, 80, of Callaway, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, in his home.

Dallas was born on January 14, 1942 in Oak Park, Illinois to Dallas Rigler, Jr. and June Murdoch. He was raised at 23W714 St. Charles Road. He graduated from Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn, Illinois with the class of 1961.

On June 21, 1997, Dal was united in marriage to Janice Sherman in Fountain, Colorado. That same year he moved back to Callaway with his new wife. Dal held a number of jobs in Callaway over the years including the village café, Farmland Service Coop Propane, the Good Life Center, and for the last 13 years, he worked as a ranch hand/mechanic for the Jenkin’s Ranch. Dal was a hard, committed worker at whatever job he undertook.

Dal loved his family very much. He enjoyed traveling and camping, bringing his family out to the Jenkin’s ranch to ride horses, and watching his favorite TV shows.

Survivors include his wife, Janice of Callaway; daughter, Kathy (Paul) DeCarlo of Grayslake, Illinois; brothers, Henry (Carol) Rigler of Benton, Arkansas, Ken (Connie) Rigler of Callaway, Larry (Betsy) Rigler of Oregon, Illinois and Garry Rigler of West Chicago, Illinois; brother-in-law, Nicolas Karales of West Chicago, Illinois; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who knew him as Uncle Bubba.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margie Karales; brother, David S. Rigler; and daughter, Mickie Rogers.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022, from 5-7 p.m, at the Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Callaway, Nebraska

Dallas M Rigler (1942-2022)

Joseph Eugene Hamrick, age 79, of McCook, NE passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte, NE.

Joe was born June 19, 1943 in Buckhannon, WV to parents Arlan Oval and Virginia Rebecca (Cain) Hamrick.&nbsp; He was one of three children who grew up in Bergoo, WV and then Warren, OH, where he also attended school.&nbsp; Following high school, Joe enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, proudly serving his country from 1961 until being Honorably Discharged in 1966.&nbsp; On September 24, 1965, Joe married the love of his life, Cheryl Ann (Burns) Hamrick in San Diego, CA.&nbsp; The couple became parents to two children and made their home in Ohio before settling in McCook.&nbsp; Joe worked as a truck driver for many years, serving as a union representative for the Teamsters.&nbsp; In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing darts and horseshoes.&nbsp; Joe was a member of the McCook Eagle’s Club and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.&nbsp;

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Brenda Ann Hamrick; a brother, Jerry Hamrick; and a sister, Deloris Jane (Hamrick) Barrick.

Those left to celebrate his life include his wife, Cheryl Hamrick of McCook; his son, Joseph E. Hamrick, Jr., wife, Megumi, and their children, Jack and Hana of Tochigi, Japan; and his extended family members.&nbsp;

Shirley Schweitzer (1942-2022)

&nbsp; ROBERT GENE "BOB" MERCER, 73, of Fort Collins, CO passed away Monday, September 12, 2022, at his home. Bob was born November 3, 1948, in Ogallala, Nebraska, to Charles and Lorene (Anderson) Mercer. He graduated from Brule High School with the class of 1967. Bob went on to attend CSU, where he graduated in 1971, earning a degree in business. Bob was married to Susan Gayle Hinrichs at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ogallala. Their union was blessed with three children: Mandy, Missy, and Mike. Bob's parents opened a fuel station and Husky Oil, based out of Brule. He worked at the station for a few years before taking a position at Kohl Motors as a comptroller. In 1987, the family moved to Colorado, where Bob worked as comptroller at Burt Motors until his retirement in 2006. Bob and Gayle retired to Daytona Beach, FL, before returning to Colorado to be closer to family. Bob and Gayle loved to travel and often made the trip back to Brule to visit family, friends, and the farm over the years. Bob was an avid Husker and Bronco football fan. He also loved to hunt. Bob's greatest love was for his family, especially his grandchildren, and his heart was always with them. Bob was preceded in death by his parents. Dustin Tyler Hale, 27, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away September 12, 2022. He was born December 3rd, 1994 at Cherry County Hospital in Valentine, Nebraska to Dennis and Suzie Hale.&nbsp;

He grew up in Valentine and North Platte, Nebraska. He graduated from North Platte High School in 2013. He spent some time in Oklahoma before returning back to North Platte. He met Yoanna Sandoval while in Oklahoma and had his first child, McKenzie Hale. Later,&nbsp;he met Haley Haller in North Platte, whom he married, and had&nbsp;Arianna and Nathan Hale.&nbsp;

Dustin was a loving brother, cousin, father, husband, son, and uncle. He loved to work on cars and pickups. He also loved to camp and fish and spent many days and nights at the lake. He was also an avid gamer and loved to spend his time online with his friends.&nbsp;

Agnes Monroe (1929-2022)

William J. Tucker, age 85, a proud veteran of the United States Navy and National Guard, passed away September 10, 2022, at the Central Nebraska Veterans Home in Kearney, NE.

William, or Bill as he was affectionately known, was born January 27, 1937, in Chicago, IL to Adolph and Gladys (née Vinpany) Tucker. Bill enjoyed many self-employment jobs throughout his life, a mechanic, tree trimmer, plumber, and a "Jack of all Trades, Master of None." He was most proud of the time he spent serving his country as a sailor in the United States Navy and then later as a soldier in the National Guard.

Bill accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at Christmastime in 2018.

Tucker, age 85, a proud veteran of the United States Navy and National Guard, passed away September 10, 2022, at the Central Nebraska Veterans Home in Kearney, NE.William, or Bill as he was affectionately known, was born January 27, 1937, in Chicago, IL to Adolph and Gladys (née Vinpany) Tucker. Bill enjoyed many self-employment jobs throughout his life, a mechanic, tree trimmer, plumber, and a "Jack of all Trades, Master of None." William Tucker (1937-2022)

Gwen Ellen Deselms of Elwood passed away Friday, September 9, 2022 at Ridgeway Senior Living in Lexington, Nebraska at the age of 93. Gwen was born October 3, 1928 in Elwood, Nebraska to John Ray and Elva Mae (Groshart) Nelson. She graduated from Elwood High School. Gwen taught at a country school. On October 8, 1950, she married Jim Deselms. Their union was blessed with three daughters: Becky, Laura and Penny. Gwen held various jobs and at the age of 70, retired from the Elwood Care Center. She then volunteered at the care center, food pantry and Legion Auxiliary. Gwen was a member of the Red Hat Society, and several card clubs. She was a long time member of the Elwood Christian Church, where she was known for her goodies and baking for the church bake sale. Gwen was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; and 2 daughters, Becky Prochnow and Penny Hill. Survivors include her daughter, Laura Sheldon of Lincoln; grandchildren, Vincent (Reagan) Avery, Jessica (Thomas) Yarmer, Shannon (Jeremy) Hickenbottom, Misty Strobel and James (Melanie) Sheldon; 5 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to the family in her name for later designation. Cremation was chosen. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 17, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kathy Gundell officiating. Inurnment will follow at Elwood Cemetery. Berryman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
