&nbsp;Loyann J. (Taylor) Hartzer, age 79, of rural Wauneta, Nebraska passed away September 10, 2022 at the Sarah Ann Hester Memorial Home in Benkelman, of natural causes. Loyann was born April 2,1943 in McCook, Nebraska to Lloyd and Ann (Miller) Taylor. She attended Culbertson Public School and McCook Community College. She worked in Denver, Colorado before marrying Gaylin Hartzer of rural Wauneta on July 22, 1962.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Loyann was a farmer's wife, actively involved in the farming operation while raising her family. She was involved in the Wauneta community as a member of the Rebekah's Lodge, the Wauneta Extension Club, and a pinochle card club. She served on the election board and as a Wauneta school board member from 1988-1996. She was also a school bus driver for nearly 40 years. She was a great cook, loved playing cards, routinely beating Gaylin at gin, and visiting with her grandchildren.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; Loyann Hartzer is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gaylin Hartzer of Wauneta; four children: Gaylin Hartzer Jr of McCook, Lorrie (Mike) Hofstetter of Daykin, Nebraska, Phillip (Loretta) Hartzer of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Kris (Chelle) Hartzer of Lawrenceville, Georgia. There are also eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

&nbsp; &nbsp; She is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Taylor and Ann (Miller) Taylor Rieger; step-dad, Carl Rieger; parents-in-law, Willis Hartzer and Inez (Cross) Hartzer; and brother, Doug Taylor.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Cremation was chosen and there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Hermann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook at 10:30AM on Friday morning, September 16, 2022 with Pastor Alisa Parde officiating.

&nbsp; Sharlene Rae Holscher passed away on September 10, 2022 from complications due to ALS. Sharlene was born December 3, 1964 in Grant Nebraska to Rex and Marilyn Holscher. She was the youngest of four daughters. Sharlene attended Perkins County High School graduating in May 1983. She then attended the University of Nebraska graduating with a degree in Accounting. After graduation, Sharlene moved to San Francisco where she lived until 2000. She had worked for a family as a nanny and then as an accountant for Nestle Corporation followed by Bradford Staff. In 2000, Sharlene welcomed her daughter, Mia, into the world and returned to Grant. She started working for RCS and was employed by them for 21 years. In 2015, Sharlene and Mia moved to Arlington, Texas. They then moved to Austin in 2021 so Mia could attend the University of Texas. Sharlene loved sports and was a die-hard Husker and Chiefs fan. Sharlene learned she had ALS in 2018. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Rex and Marilyn Holscher. She is survived by her daughter, Mia, of Austin, Texas, and three sisters, Michelle (Bruce) Carlson, Sheri Holscher, and Renee Holscher all of Lincoln and her only niece, Liz (Braidan) Miller also of Lincoln. Jackie Schwanz, 75, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died September 9, 2022 in Elkhorn, NE.

Jackie was born June 9, 1947 in Hornell, NY, daughter of Eugene and Betty Jane Tournor.

Jackie grew up around the Buffalo, New York area before moving to Gothenburg when she was 15. She married the love of her life, Dick Schwanz in 1963; recently celebrating 59 years of marriage and they have resided in Gothenburg for all 59 years.

She was a member of the Cornerstone Bible Church in Gothenburg. Jackie enjoyed going to coffee with friends, and attending Bible studies. Most of all, Jackie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Jackie loved to cook for all of her family whenever she could.

Survivors include husband, Dick Schwanz of Gothenburg, NE; three daughters, Rhonda Schwanz of North Platte, NE, Lisa (Chad) Cole of Elkhorn, NE, Heidi (Jeff) Bartlett of Lincoln, NE; three sons, Kirk Schwanz of Lincoln, NE, Kevin (Nikki) Schwanz of Cozad, NE, Robert (Mary) Schwanz of Gothenburg, NE; 23 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren: six brothers, Bobby (Janice) Good of Denver, CO, Tom (Martha) Good of Australia, Larry (Deb) Tournor of Aurora, NE, Mike Tournor of Grand Island, NE, Chuck (Mary) Tournor of Hastings, NE, Gary (Susy) Tournor of Phillips, NE; sisters, Rhea Harm of Omaha, NE, Debra (Tom) Luff of Minden, NE; brothers-in-law David (Carol) Schwanz of Alma, NE and Howard Cornell of Erie, PA; along with numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.

Jackie Schwanz (1947-2022)

Laurene Marie (Olson) Dempewolf, 75, of North Platte, NE passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Linden Court Nursing Home.

Laurene was born on November 20, 1946 in McCook, NE the daughter of George and Laura (Bruggeman) Olson.

In her early years, Laurene grew up in the rural NW Kansas area of Selden and Dresden.&nbsp; Following the passing of her father in 1958, her family moved to Oberlin, KS.&nbsp; She attended Leoville Grade School; Jr. High in Oberlin, KS; High School at the Apostolic School of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Concordia, KS and completed her CNA training at Good Samaritan in Oberlin later in life.&nbsp; On April 22, 1967, she married Donald L. Dempewolf and to that union four children were born.&nbsp; Laurene babysat, took in ironing, cleaned homes and worked at the Dairy Inn during the years while her own children were young. She continued cleaning homes weekly for many elderly and working women and babysat with a good friend off and on through the years. She worked at Sacred Heart Catholic Church as secretary for nine years. She worked as a CNA at Cedar Living Center; worked in the thrift store in Oberlin; and at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home for twelve years. She, along with her husband and daughter, also cleaned the Oberlin Clinic nightly for five years.&nbsp; She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oberlin where she served as Eucharistic Minister, Lector, Parish Council, and President of the Altar Society three times.&nbsp; She took Communion to the homebound and sick, and her family cleaned the church for several years.&nbsp; She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Widows and Friends in Oberlin.&nbsp; On November 5, 2016 she moved to North Platte, NE and became very active in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.&nbsp; She was a member of the Without a Spouse group, Catholic Daughters, the Rosary Group, and the Golden Girls.

Laurene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; son, Michael; 16 brothers- and sisters-in-law and many other loved ones.

Those left to cherish Laurene’s memory are her son, Larry Dempewolf of Central City. NE; daughters, Donna (Kevin) Juenemann of Kansas City, KS and Jennifer (Tony) Krajewski of North Platte, NE; brothers, Jim (Dari) Olson and Bernard Olson both of McCook; sister, Georgene (Lyle) Carstenson of Newton, KS; sisters-in-law, Marian Dempewolf, Jean Dempewolf, and Dianne Kleidosty; brother-in-law, Myron Kleidosty; six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17th, 2022 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Kadaprayill as celebrant.&nbsp; Graveside service and burial will follow at 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Colby, KS.&nbsp; Visitation will be on Friday, September 16th&nbsp;from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel followed by The Rosary and Christian Wake Service at 7:00 p.m.

Laurene Marie Dempewolf (1946-2022)

Donald Lee Payton, 80, of North Platte, NE, passed away peacefully the morning of September 4th, 2022 at Great Plains Health surrounded by his family.

He was born May 28th, 1942, to Cecile and Bessie Payton in Jay, Oklahoma. In his early adult years, he moved to North Platte and started working in Ogalala Nebraska where he found work as a welder with his friend Joe Walker. There he met Patricia Walker they were united in marriage December 9th, 1961. Through this union two children were born: a daughter Terri Lynn and a son Russell Lee. Don loved hunting, fishing, boating, water, and snow skiing. He always enjoyed taking his family on vacations. After working as a welder, he was hired on to the Union Pacific as a conductor. He dedicated his life to railroad for 38 years. When Don retired from the railroad, he and his wife Patricia loved to travel with their fifth wheeler to explore different parts of the United States. They finally settled in Southern Texas in Palmview at Greengate, a 55+ gated community. They bought a house and became snowbirds traveling back and forth from North Platte, Nebraska to Texas. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandpa.

Donald was preceded in death by his father and mother, his brothers Howard Payton, and Bob Payton, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry and Eva Russell, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Myron and Marilyn Walker, Joe and Ramona Walker, Joan and Jerry Lorraine, and a niece Sandy Schulz.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Payton, daughter Terri Lynn and Steve Hemans of Arvada, Colorado; son Russell and Karen Payton of North Platte, NE; grandchildren April Evans and Ryan Shaddox of Westminster, CO, Zach and Sarah Evans of Westminster, CO, Jacob Payton and Terri Butrick of Lincoln, NE, Stevie Hemans and Michael Graham of Thornton, CO, Alyssa Payton and Ryan Foster of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Cassie and Lance Williams of Branson MO, great-grandchildren Janie Evans, and Ava Evans; Debby and Tom Sherrer and many more relatives that love and will miss him.

Jorge was a very caring and humble man. Family was Jorge’s top priority, and he was very close with his sons. He loved watching and playing soccer, doing yard work, working on his cars and was a big fan of music. He enjoyed going out to eat and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Cecilia (Batres) Tovar of Lexington, Nebraska; his sons, George Tovar and his wife Rosy Tovar of Omaha, Nebraska and Jason Tovar of Lexington; brothers, Laureano (Silvia) Chilin of Lexington and Alex Chilin of Guatemala; sisters, Silvia Chilin of Maryland, Olga Chilin of Guatemala and Sandra Chilin of Guatemala.

Janet Jenkins, 75, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died September 6, 2022 at her home in Gothenburg.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She was born November 24, 1946 in Gothenburg, NE, daughter of Frank Jenkins and Lois Alberts. Janet enjoyed reading, solving puzzles, writing poetry, and loved politics.

Survivors include nephews Trace Jenkins and wife Mayumi of Manassas, VA and Troy Jenkins and wife Juli Alan of Guthrie, OK; as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Shirley Logan, sister, Karen Mann, and brother, Mike Jenkins.

&nbsp; Marymae Seery, age 84, of North Platte, NE, passed away at Linden Court on Thursday, September 8, 2022 . Marymae was born to Grace (Powell) and Harry Johnson on March 4, 1938, north of North Platte.&nbsp; She grew up in the Sandhills and graduated from North Platte Senior High in 1956.&nbsp; On March 18, 1958, Marymae was united in marriage to Don Seery at the First Christian Church in North Platte where they made their home and raised a family. Marymae was first employed as a secretary and bookkeeper at the engineering firm of Nosky and Hickey.&nbsp; Once her children were born, she worked part-time at Western Motors as a book keeper for Don.&nbsp; In 1982 Marymae went to work full time at the Lincoln County Courthouse until her retirement in 2010. Marymae loved raising her children, and caring for her grandchildren.&nbsp; She was an active parent volunteer at the school, and taught Sunday school for many years.&nbsp; Marymae enjoyed traveling, shopping and spending time with extended family and friends.&nbsp; She was a member of the First Christian Church and Royal Neighbors. She is survived by her children, Brenda McCormick (Kevin) of Ventura CA, Shureen Seery of Papillion and Brandon (Sky) Seery of North Platte; four grandchildren, John and Paige Seery and Aidan and Brendan McCormick; her best friend &amp; cousin, Bonnie White of Lincoln; her nieces, nephews and other family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, and infant son, Von; her parents, Grace and Harry Johnson; and half-sister, Ethel Hanson. Bernadine M. Dytrych passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Cozad Community Hospital at the age of 90. Bernadine, better known as “Bonnie”, lived a long and full life.  She was born December 12, 1931 in Fremont, Nebraska to Ben and Irma (Ruwe) Lahmann.  There were four children, Vernetta, Bonnie and the twins, Eduard and Wilma. Bonnie graduated high school from Dodge, Nebraska and married Stanley Dytrych of Clarkson, Nebraska. They added 5 children to their family, Pat, Dave, Russ, Mike and Karen.  Most of her working years she spent as a secretary at Davis Oil, Valley Vending and as a waitress at The Dixie Inn in Cozad. She loved to read, but is well known for her crocheting, especially those “scrubbies”!  Bonnie loved to travel and was able to go to Italy while son Mike was in the Air Force and to Oregon where daughter Karen lives. Bonnie’s family grew and grew to 15 grandchildren and many, many great-grandchildren and she knew all of their names. Bonnie was preceded in death by sisters, Vernetta Chudomelka and Wilma Griffin, and grandson, Tyson Trosper. Survivors include her brother, Eduard Lahmann Sr.; her children, Patricia Noonan, David (Tammy) Dytrych, Russell (Doris) Dytrych, Michael (Amy) Dytrych, and Karen (Oscar) Olvera; 15 grandchildren and many, many great-grandchildren. Memorials are suggested to the Cozad Grand Generation Center or Cozad Fire and Rescue. Bonnie's wishes were to be cremated. Kenneth R. 'Bud' York of Cozad passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Nebraska Heart Hospital in Lincoln at the age of 87. Bud was born September 5, 1934 in Madison, Illinois to Ralph and Edna Pearl (Fravel) York. Bud grew up on a farm and attended school in Madison. He graduated from Madison High School with the class of 1952. He worked several years Cargill Grain in Granite City, Illinois. On September 8, 1956 Bud married Jennie Stawar. The couple was blessed with a daughter, Kate. Bud was drafted in to the U.S. Army in 1956 and sent to Germany. Following his discharge from the military, Bud had an opportunity to attend college on a military scholarship. He attended Southern Illinois University and graduated with a degree in Business Economics in 1964. In August of 1965, Bud went to work for Allied Mills Feed Plant in East St. Louis, Illinois as a purchasing agent. He transferred to Cozad in August of 1967 as the purchasing agent and hay buyer at Allied Mills. When the mill closed in 1984, Bud then sold crop insurance and conducted seminars to teach other agents to sell crop insurance. He worked for a cable tv company in 1990. Bud was a member of the American Lutheran Church, Cozad Elks Lodge, Eagles Club in North Platte and Cozad Jaycees. He served on the Cozad Hospital Board for 15 years, having served as president for 12. Bud had several hobbies, fishing, hunting, reading and golf. His favorite was woodworking. His talents for woodworking can be found in many homes in Cozad. He also enjoyed spending time at the family cabin at Midway Lake. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen Thiel and her husband, Leo; brother, Ralph York and his wife Helen. Survivors include his wife, Jennie of Cozad; daughter, Kate of Cozad; sister in law, Stephanie Schade of Palm Beach, FL; sister in law, Lorraine Stawar of Granite City, IL; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Bud's wishes were to be cremated. Memorials are suggested to the Cozad Elks Lodge. A graveside memorial service will be held Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Cozad Cemetery with Pastor Kathy Gundell officiating.

Charles C. DeHarty of Eustis passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, September 3, 2022 after a long illness. He was born February 26, 1948 in Sioux City, Iowa to Roland and Wilda (Mayse) DeHarty. He married Betty Hansen on September 7, 1968 at Garden Prairie Methodist Church. Charlie served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War, and was awarded many medals for his service. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed auto mechanics, motorcycles and camping. Charlie will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Elwin and Dorothy Hansen; and daughter, Susann DeHarty. Survivors include his wife, Betty of Eustis; sons, Anthoney (Amanda) DeHarty of Lexington, Clinton DeHarty of Cozad; daughter, Shara (Gary) Guetrauze of Kearney; brothers, Roland Ray (Yvonne) DeHarty of Mesa, AZ, Authur (Pat) DeHarty of Omaha; 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Cremation was chosen. A Graveside Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery.

John Eugene Bruner, age 88, of McCook, NE passed away at his home with family by his side on Wednesday, September 7, 2022.

John was born March 19, 1934 in Holyoke, CO to parents Forest E. and Aletha L. (Daniels) Bruner. He was one of six brothers.&nbsp; On November 21, 1965, John married Ginger May (Persinger) Bruner in Ogallala, NE.&nbsp; The couple became parents to four children and one stepson.&nbsp; Making their home in McCook, John worked at TRW before beginning a lifelong career in the trucking industry.&nbsp; He went on to own and operate J &amp; G Trucking for over thirty years.&nbsp; At retirement, John had driven 1.5 million miles accident free.&nbsp; When he wasn’t behind the wheel of a truck, John enjoyed collecting oil lamps and spending time in his garage, working on small engines and cars.&nbsp; He was a fifty-year member of the McCook Eagles Club.&nbsp;

John was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Donnie, Raymond and Gene Bruner; son in laws, Rick Miner and Allen Hansen; and a sister in law, Connie Bruner. Those left to celebrate his life include his wife, Ginger Bruner of McCook; sons, Craig (Kristi) Bruner of Show Low, AZ and John (Abbey) Bruner, Jr. of Sioux Falls, SD; daughters, Sherry Hansen of Osborne, KS, Lucille Light and friend, Mike Light of McCook and Ruth Miner of McCook; brothers, Robert Bruner of Emmett, ID and Floyd (Ellie) Bruner of Great Falls, MT; nine grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and a host of extended family member and friends.

John Bruner (1934-2022)

&nbsp; MILDRED "MILLY" SCHWASINGER, 94, a longtime Ogallala resident, passed away September 6, 2022, at Great Plains Health in North Platte. Mildred Pauline Peters was born on the farm to Fred L. Peters Jr. and Mary Jane Younker Peters on April 1, 1928. She attended Ogallala Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1945. After graduation, Milly worked at the Kersenbrock Drugstore for 23 years. She married her high school sweetheart, Perry Schwasinger Jr. after he came home from the Navy, on August 1, 1946, at the Methodist Church in Ogallala. They made their home in Ogallala where Perry worked for the natural gas company. Two children were born to them, Linda Sue and Rodney Wayne. Milly was a homemaker, 4-H leader, Sunday School teacher, and gardener. When the children were in school, Milly began bowling in the matinee league. Milly bowled for 55 years attending many state tournaments and a national tournament in Denver. While bowling, she was most proud of bowling a game of 279 in a series of 620. Milly was proud of the children and enjoyed their activities. She liked gardening and canning, usually entering her products in the Keith County fair. Milly also loved making quilts and crocheting afghans and potholders. After Perry passed away, she volunteered at the senior center and enjoyed playing cards with friends. She was also a longtime volunteer with RSVP, the Mansion on the Hill, the American Red Cross, and Keith County Area Bloodmobile. Milly was a devoted Christian and read her Bible often. She always had a grateful heart and a positive attitude that was uplifting to the people around her. Milly was a matriarch of a devoted family. In 2017, Milly moved to North Platte to be closer to her daughter. Milly was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Schwasinger Jr., and her brother, Clyde (Ethel) Peters. Survivors include her children, Linda (Galen) Einspahr of North Platte and Rod (Sue) Schwasinger of Naples, FL; grandchildren, Amy (Russ) Doucet and Jim (Jessica) Einspahr of North Platte, and Matt Schwasinger of Bozeman MT; great-grandchildren, Nick Doucet of Kearney and Kaitlyn Doucet, Allison Einspahr and Ava Einspahr of North Platte along with numerous nieces and nephews . Timothy John Thompson, 59, of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away September 7, 2022 at his home in North Platte.&nbsp; Tim was born March 26, 1963 to Walter and Grace (Kamper) Thompson in North Platte.

Tim was raised in North Platte and graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 1981.&nbsp; He attended Mid Plains Community College.&nbsp; Tim was very kind and always goofy.&nbsp; He enjoyed fishing and camping, but most of all he loved Husker football.&nbsp; He also liked going on cruises, traveling and hot air ballooning.&nbsp; Tim loved his family.&nbsp;

Tim married Becky Neth Thompson on September 1, 1984.&nbsp; To this union Colby was born.&nbsp; On February 2, 2002, Tim married Tracy Lewis and gained four children: Bart, Taylor, Jericca, Taron.&nbsp;

Tim is survived by his wife, Tracy; children, Colby Thompson, Bart Minnick, his children Ezrah, Zericka, Ezrael; Taylor (Jordan) Lewis their child Nellie; Jericca Lewis (Johnathon Brougham) their child Jax; Taron (Jenae) Lewis and their child Leighton; mother, Grace (Thompson) Schutte; sister Barb Butterfield; brothers Jerry Thompson, Rich (Mardell) Thompson; father-in-law Dwayne Olson; sister and brother-in-law’s, Laurie (Mike) Horn, Theresa (Dave) Opfer; brother-in-law, Travis (Dana) Minnick; step siblings, Gloria Eki and Dennis Schutte.&nbsp; Along with many other family members and friends.

Funeral services for Richard F. Wright, age 84, of Sutherland formerly of Ewing, NE will be 1 pm Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Adams Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte, NE with Father Sagar officiating. Visitation will be 12-7 pm Friday at Adams Swanson. He passed away September 7th at his home in Sutherland. Richard was born March 2, 1938 to Emmett E and Mildred (Lehmann) Wright, in Neligh, Nebraska. He was the oldest of 5 children. He graduated from Ewing High School with the class of 1956. Richard married his wife of 60 years, Charlotte on February 22, 1962 in Clearwater, NE. He started his working career at Pollock Sand and Gravel in 1956 and worked winters at the Ford garage in Neligh. He could and would work on and fix anything. Richard also served 8 years in the Nebraska National Guard during this time. He soon began to work full time for Pollock’s and was the manager as it expanded to include a highly successful redi-mix business until his retirement in 2006. Richard and Charlotte were blessed with twin daughters Debra and Patricia born in 1966. They were certainly the apple of his eye as he devoted many hours to ensuring that they had a joyful well provided for upbringing. The girls’ friends enjoyed the fruits of his efforts too with water skiing trips to the Missouri River, giant snow piles he made with his heavy equipment, and even flooding the yard for an ice-skating rink. Richard was also very generous and especially aware of those who were in need. His generosity manifested itself in the form of winter coats, bicycles, and many other gifts quietly given. Following retirement Dick and Charlotte moved to Sutherland to be closer to their grandchildren. He delighted in watching them do whatever they were doing. Dick was not all that interested in sports or the outcomes of their games, but if they were doing it, he would be there. Grandpa also had to make sure that they were provided with “grocery money” for the concessions or the trip home. &nbsp;Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brother Terry Wright, and brother-in-law Richard Borsh. He is survived by his wife Charlotte, brothers Don (Melva) Wright of Ewing, Ron Wright of Chambers, sister-in-law Janice Wright of Longmont, Colorado, and sister Betty Borsh of Isle, Florida. Daughters Debra (James) O’Malley and Patricia (William) O’Malley of North Platte. Grandchildren Sean (Michelle) O’Malley Denver, Mandy O’Malley Lincoln, Logan O’Malley Lincoln, Joseph (Jenae) O’Malley Mission, KS, and Anna (Andrew) Reinholz Nashville. Amber Kay Brown, age 39, of Ogallala, died Sunday, September 4th, 2022 at the Perkins County Hospital in Grant, NE. Amber was born September 23, 1982 in Ogallala, NE to Pete and Susan (Sauer) Brown.&nbsp; She attended Ogallala Public Schools and graduated from Ogallala High School in 2001.&nbsp;She loved her dogs and her family. Amber worked in various food service jobs in the Ogallala area. She was recently employed at A&amp;W Restaurant in Ogallala.

Amber was preceded in death by her father Lionel "Pete" Brown, son Cooper Brown-Shireman, grandfather and grandmother William and Rosemary Sauer, and grandmother Lorena Brown.

Amber is survived by her two children, Colton Pouk (age 18) of Kearney, NE and Nicolette Reyna (age 20) of Omaha, NE.&nbsp; Her&nbsp; mother and father Susan (Karl) Lake of Grant, NE; Step mother Jayne Brown of Ogallala, NE; her sister Erica Brown of Crete, NE; two brothers Nicholas (Tonya) Brown of Ogallala, NE and Taylor (Natasha) Lake of Lincoln, NE. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Amber enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and her animals; as well as spoiling her nieces and nephews. Robert L. Guy (1940-2022)

Theodore John “Junior” Chambers, age 66, of McCook, NE passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE.

Ted “Junior” was born October 25, 1955 in Dickens, NE to parents John Theodore and Elsie Mae (Warren) Chambers.&nbsp; He was one of five siblings.

Upon moving to McCook, Ted “Junior” joined the SWATS family.&nbsp; He enjoyed making birdhouses, bowling, taking pictures, playing pool and spending time with his family. &nbsp;

Ted “Junior” was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elsie Chambers; brother, Howard Chambers; and sister, Dorothy Garrett.

Those left to celebrate his life include his sisters, Lorine Bauguess of McCook and Diane Renfro of Osceola, AK; sister in law, Doris Chambers of Cambridge, NE; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.&nbsp;

Carol Ann Liess (1943-2022)

&nbsp; Rodger Lee Crow was born July 19, 1941 in San Diego, California to Bud L and Eunice M. (Lorance) Crow, but grew up on a farm near Wauneta, NE. As a young man Rodger moved to the Denver, Colorado area where he attended school at the Denver Electronic Technical Institute. Rodger married Lucinda Ann Dahlberg in November of 1962. To this union one son was born: Rodger Crow Jr. Rodger was employed at Martin Marietta Company for many years before moving back to Nebraska to farm. He eventually began working at Grandview in Stratton, Nebraska with the senior meal program. Rodger married Ruth Pursley in 1985, and the couple lived on the farm where Rodger grew up until Ruth had to move to the Hester Home in Benkelman, NE. Rodger moved to Stratton in 2020 and enjoyed living in an apartment at Grandview where he had worked for over 20 years. This gave Rodger the opportunity to live close to friends, and be more involved in the place he had dedicated so much time to over the years. Rodger passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at the Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman, Ne. Rodger was 81 years of age. Survivors Include: Son: Rodger L. Crow Jr. and wife, Sherry, of Denver, CO. FERNE MARIE (DOLLISON) SUTTON of Ogallala passed away on August 17, 2022. She was born on July 8, 1929 in Julesburg Colorado, daughter of Melvin and Merle Dollison. She attended a rural, one room school through the 8th grade and graduated from Julesburg High School in 1947. She lived in Sterling, Colorado until 1949 when she moved to Ogallala. On August 12, 1950 she married Theodore Sutton in Grant, Nebraska. They were married for 55 years when Ted passed away in September, 2005. Ted and Ferne had three children, Terrence, Cynthia and Allyn. She worked at Goodall's and then worked for the State Merit system for the State Welfare Department and then in the County Clerks office. After having her family, she worked for Bill Craig &amp; CC Warden Agency for 35 years. After Ferne's working years, she enjoyed volunteering and spending time at the Senior Center. She was on the Ogallala Housing Board and the Advisory board for over 20 years, volunteered at Indian Hills Manor for over 20 years and was secretary of the Ogallala Rendezvous for 10 years. She was active in the Women's Chamber of Commerce and served as president for two years. She was a 32 year RSVP member and received the Women of the Rose Award on April 25, 2018 for all her years of exemplary community service. In 2012, the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben foundation announced the 68th annual Good Neighbor Award recipients, which included Ferne. This award recognizes individuals from Nebraska and western Iowa who have performed neighbors acts and deeds unselfishly without personal gain. She assisted the Sandhills District Health Department and Clinic taking blood pressure once a month as well as volunteering during elections, meals on wheels and driving neighbors where they needed to go. A famous quote from Mandy Hale states "There is nothing more beautiful than someone who goes out of their way to make life beautiful for others" and this was Ferne's belief. She loved helping others. Survivors include: daughter, Cynthia Stevens of Pine Ridge, SD; son, Terry (Tammy) Sutton of Commerce City, CO, and daughter-in-law, Michele Sutton of Ogallala. Eight grandchildren: Tara Sutton, Alyse McEvoy, Quinn and Teeyl Sutton, Amber Watson, Ian Stevens, Evan and Kyle Sutton and many great-grandchildren. Ferne M. Sutton (1929-2022)

Mary Ann Lockwood of North Platte, NE, passed away on August 23, 2022. She was born on July 26, 1921, to John and Anna (Laun) Jezl in Tobias, NE. Upon graduating from Tobias High School in 1938, at the age of 17, Mary Ann began teaching in one-room schools. After teaching school for seven years, she joined the U.S. Nurses Cadet Corps on September 4, 1945. Completing her three years of training at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital School of Nursing in Lincoln, NE, she became a licensed registered nurse. On September 13, 1948, Mary Ann married Milton Greenwood and they moved from Lincoln to North Platte. Milton passed away on September 9, 1957. She married Whitley Pemberton September 15, 1962; they were divorced in 1967. On October 5, 1971, she married Clyde Lockwood. After 50 years of marriage, Clyde passed away on June 9 of this year. During her nursing career, Mary Ann was employed at St. Mary’s Hospital, Memorial Hospital, and Great Plains Regional Medical Center, all located in North Platte. She was active in the church and served as a member of Catholic Daughters Court Our Lady of Fatima #154, Holy Spirit Church Circles of Faith, and MOMs. Mary Ann had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. She participated in community theater musicals and was requested to sing for many special occasions in her younger years. Mary Ann and Clyde would handcraft Christmas ornaments each year for their grandchildren. Mary Ann also enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, and canning. She blessed so many family members, and others who touched her life, with handmade afghans and baby blankets. She is remembered by those who knew her as a woman of kindness and grace.

Mary Ann is survived by a large family: daughters Constance Greenwood of Kirkland, WA, Mary Greenwood-Bell (Mark) of Parker, TX, and JoAnn Greenwood (Ray Jones) of Hewitt, TX; sons John Greenwood (Nancy) of Lenexa, KS, and James Lockwood of Akron, CO; step-daughters Carol Frye of Tucson, AZ, and Marcia Jones (Mike) of Riverton, UT; step-son William Lockwood (Lucy Del Giorgio) of Tucson, AZ; step-daughter-in-law Janet Lockwood of Mulkiteo, WA; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by several dear family members: her husband Milton; her husband of 50 years Clyde; step-son Gerald Lockwood of Mulkiteo, WA; her brothers Joseph, James, and Frank; and her sister Anna Belle Darnell.

Mary Ann Lockwood (1921-2022)

Velma Lorene Jones, 90, of Silsbee, Texas, formerly of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at her daughter’s home in Silsbee. She was born July 8th, 1931 in Mead, Oklahoma to Jewell (Holder) and T.E. Myers. She lived there as a young child and then in her teenage years she moved to Denton, Texas where she graduated high school with the class of 1950. Lorene then moved to New Mexico where she made her home and worked at the telephone office as a long distance operator. From there she moved to Nebraska, where she met her husband, Charles “Chuck” Jones and was united in marriage on Jul 21st, 1951. To this union three children born: Don, Becky and Terry. In Nebraska, she worked at West Side Care Center as a CSM and med nurse and also worked at Karre’s City Bakery in Lexington. Lorene enjoyed playing softball, bowling, bingo, watching her old western movies on the television, receiving greeting cards in the mail, and volunteering at day care. She loved spending time with family and friends and working in her flower garden alongside her best friend, (dog) JoJo. She also loved Husker football, Kansas City Royals baseball team and living in Nebraska. She is survived by her children, Don and wife Lupe Rios of West Palm Beach, Florida, Becky and husband Darrell Fenner of Silsbee, Texas and Terry and wife Ruby of Honolulu, Hawaii. She was blessed with six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Gene Myers of Minden and Don Myers of Kearney; sister, Polly Clayborn of Texas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lorene was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck Jones; parents, Jewell Haney and T.E. Myers; mother and father-in-law, Ada and Blacky Hyslop; brother, Charlie and wife, Barb Myers (2nd wife), Marlene Meyers Woliverby (first wife); brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dub Hamilton and Margie (Hamiliton) Black; Bev Myers, Sam Posey, and Jake Clayborn. I will see you all in heaven.

There will be no visitation, as the family is honoring Lorene’s wish for cremation. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, September 26, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Pastor Dave LeRaaen, officiating.

 </figure>Velma Lorene Jones, 90, of Silsbee, Texas, formerly of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at her daughter’s home in Silsbee. She was born July 8th, 1931 in Mead, Oklahoma to Jewell (Holder) and T.E. Myers. She lived there as a young child and then in her teenage years she moved to Denton, Texas where she graduated high school with the class of 1950. Lorene then moved to New Mexico where she made her home and worked at the telephone office as a long distance operator. From there she moved to Nebraska, where she met her husband, Charles “Chuck” Jones and was united in marriage on Jul 21st, 1951. To this union three children born: Don, Becky and Terry. In Nebraska, she worked at West Side Care Center as a CSM and med nurse and also worked at Karre’s City Bakery in Lexington. Lorene enjoyed playing softball, bowling, bingo, watching her old western movies on the television, receiving greeting cards in the mail, and volunteering at day care. She loved spending time with family and friends and working in her flower garden alongside her best friend, (dog) JoJo. She also loved Husker football, Kansas City Royals baseball team and living in Nebraska. She is survived by her children, Don and wife Lupe Rios of West Palm Beach, Florida, Becky and husband Darrell Fenner of Silsbee, Texas and Terry and wife Ruby of Honolulu, Hawaii. She was blessed with six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Gene Myers of Minden and Don Myers of Kearney; sister, Polly Clayborn of Texas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lorene was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck Jones; parents, Jewell Haney and T.E. Myers; mother and father-in-law, Ada and Blacky Hyslop; brother, Charlie and wife, Barb Myers (2nd wife), Marlene Meyers Woliverby (first wife); brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dub Hamilton and Margie (Hamiliton) Black; Bev Myers, Sam Posey, and Jake Clayborn. I will see you all in heaven. There will be no visitation, as the family is honoring Lorene’s wish for cremation. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, September 26, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Pastor Dave LeRaaen, officiating.Inurnment will be in the Hewitt Cemetery north of Lexington.A memorial has been established in Lorene’s honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
