&nbsp; N. Lucille Dinnel was born July 9, 1929, in Imperial, NE, to Pearl and Ethel Ridlen. As a young girl, Lucille attended the Zell Grade School which was located west of Wauneta. On November 13, 1946, Lucille married Verlon Dinnel at the Ridlen family home west of Wauneta and to this union four daughters were born: Colleen, Lanette, Ardith, and Brenda. Lucille and Verlon settled on a farm northeast of Enders, NE, where they raised their family and continued to reside until they retired in 2009 and moved to their present home in Imperial. Lucille loved the farm and in addition to be an avid farmwife and mother to her daughters, she enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking. She especially loved spending time with her family. Lucille passed away Monday, August 29, 2022, at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home, Imperial, NE. She was 93 years of age. &nbsp; Randall Lee Ward, 67, of Ogallala, passed away at his home on August 25, 2022. Randy was born September 27, 1954, in Akron, Colorado, to Alfred Junior Ward and Oleta Rorrick Ward. He graduated from Akron high school before attending Colorado State University in Fort Collins, earning a Bachelor's degree in farm and ranch management. Following university, Randy worked at the family farm, ranch and feedlot, near Akron. Randy eventually took over the family oil company, Alfred Ward and Son, where he drove advancement and built the company substantially. As successful as Randy was in business, he had a great love for cars and racing. Randy had been involved in the dirt track racing circuit for decades and made friends (including Jay Leno) all across the United States, sponsoring, racing, fixing, collecting and enjoying cars. Despite his business success, Randy was not pretentious. He loved to spend time with people and treated everyone the same. Randy had earned his pilot's license for both planes and helicopters. He loved anything that could go fast, from cars, boats, jet skis, to motorcycles. He enjoyed water sports, traveling, bicycling, technology, mechanics, and photography. Randy was a longtime member and supporter of Rotary International. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Jr. and Oleta. Survivors include his children, Cassandra Ward of Fort Collins, CO, and Derek Randall Ward of Fort Collins, CO; grandchild, Ian Randall Ward; brother, Alfred M. Ward; niece, Madelyn Poling, and niece Christie Ward Klos. Randy was amicably separated, but not yet divorced, from his wife of 36 years, Ellen Poling Ward. Randall Ward (1954-2022)

Chancey Cecil Cornelius, age 101, of rural Ogallala, died Sunday, August 28, 2022 at the Ogallala Community Hospital.&nbsp; Chancey Cecil Cornelius was born in Sutherland, NE on August 5, 1921 to Dick &amp; Clara (Most) Cornelius.&nbsp; As a child he spent several years growing up in Hastings, NE before his family moved to Ogallala.&nbsp; He and his father worked at building the Kingsley dam during the dustbowl era before Chancey volunteered for the Army Air Force at 20 years of age during the build up to WW2 and then served in the European theater of operations for 30 months for the USAAF Air Transport Command.&nbsp; He served honorably and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.&nbsp; After the war, Chancey returned to Hastings, NE to work for an uncle as a mechanic until he was able to purchase land and farm along with his father near Ogallala, where he operated a very successful farming operation for many years. He used the G.I. bill to become a private pilot and maintained an airstrip at the farm, co-owning planes with his cousin, Dwaine Most.&nbsp; He used the airstrip and plane to save many cattle in the area during the blizzard of ’49 by dropping feed from the air. Chancey was a true gentleman with a quiet demeanor but a very well developed sense of humor!&nbsp; He worked very hard on the farm, faithfully providing for his family.&nbsp; He had a rule of finishing everything he started during each week before going fishing on Saturday. He loved to fish so he got things done in time!&nbsp; He had a saying, “Always gotta make time for fun, sport and amusement!” He loved to talk about all of his trips flying to Canada to go fishing!&nbsp; Chancey was all country. He loved to travel and see the cities of the world but he always wanted to come back to where he belonged, his farm in Nebraska.&nbsp; Chancey had a very generous heart and was known to invest in young people’s education when he saw they had potential.

Chancey was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Irma (Hahn) Cornelius, as well as his sisters Francis Greffenius and Margurite Inwood, one niece and one nephew.&nbsp; Survivors include his son, Terry (Donna) Cornelius and his daughter, Vickie Cornelius, all of Ogallala; eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

&nbsp;Visitation will be Monday, September 5th, from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Draucker Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 6th, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, southeast of Ogallala, with Reverend Albert Bader officiating. She was born November 2, 1933, in Plover, Iowa to Harold and Helen (Buck) O’Neall.&nbsp; Doris grew up in the Plover, Iowa area.&nbsp; She graduated with the class of 1951.&nbsp; After graduation, her and her sister Faye ran Doris and Faye’s Family Friendly Café.&nbsp; She then married the love of her life Orville Mankle, while he was on leave from the Army, December 30, 1952, at the Presbyterian Church in Plover, Iowa.&nbsp; Into this union four children were born: Nick, Jane, Robin, and Dan.&nbsp; Doris enjoyed baking, bowling, fishing, camping, golfing and especially watching The Chicago Cubs, University of Lincoln sporting activities and above all her beloved Grand and Great Grandchildren’s activities.&nbsp; Doris worked several different jobs before retiring.&nbsp; After retiring, she enjoyed being a grandma and keeping Orville in line.

Larry Bottorf, age 76, of Sargent, NE passed away August 28, 2022, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island, NE.

Larry Lee Bottorf was born January 11, 1946, in Aurora, NE to Lucien and Viola (McIntosh) Bottorf. He grew up in Grand Island, NE. Larry married Connie Horky on March 3, 1968, in Grand Island after which they lived in Sargent, NE. He always farmed, ranched, and worked at CO-OP which then changed hands to Sargent Feed and Grain for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, woodworking, and spending time with his grandkids. He was a huge Nebraska football fan.

Larry is survived by his wife Connie (Horky) Bottorf, sons Larry Bottorf, Jr, and Jeff Bottorf, daughters Sonnia (Sam) Grint, and Heidi Bottorf all of Sargent, 13 grandchildren, one great grandchild, sisters, Shirley Kraft, Sharon (Wayne) Gleason, and Rhonda (David) Mudloff.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Lucien and Viola Bottorf, brother Donnie Bottorf, sister Florence Casper, infant sister Viola Bottorf, a daughter Jonni, and granddaughter Ashley.

He grew up in Grand Island, NE. Larry married Connie Horky on March 3, 1968, in Grand Island after which they lived in Sargent, NE. He always farmed, ranched, and worked at CO-OP which then changed hands to Sargent Feed and Grain for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, woodworking, and spending time with his grandkids. He was a huge Nebraska football fan.Larry is survived by his wife Connie (Horky) Bottorf, sons Larry Bottorf, Jr, and Jeff Bottorf, daughters Sonnia (Sam) Grint, and Heidi Bottorf all of Sargent, 13 grandchildren, one great grandchild, sisters, Shirley Kraft, Sharon (Wayne) Gleason, and Rhonda (David) Mudloff.Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Lucien and Viola Bottorf, brother Donnie Bottorf, sister Florence Casper, infant sister Viola Bottorf, a daughter Jonni, and granddaughter Ashley.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Cole McKinley Arnold, age 37, died in his home in Merna on August 24th, 2022. He was born on April 20th, 1985, to Tyke and Louise Arnold at the Broken Bow hospital. He was raised on the family farm in Broken Bow and graduated BBHS in 2004. He excelled at music and sports throughout his high school career and made the most of his young years with his friends, many of whom remained close throughout his life. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Cole attended UNL briefly and continued to reside in Lincoln over the next few years, working some seasonal jobs and having his youth college experience among friends. Eventually, he came back to his calling on the farm and worked it like he belonged there. There wasn’t a question about the farm you could ask him that he wouldn’t have an intelligent and educated answer for. He enjoyed a job well done and was proud of his agricultural intuition and knowledge. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;One of Cole’s passions was music. He loved to listen, discover, and revel in music, often sending YouTube links to friends and family when the mood struck him, or a song reminded him of someone. He was musically gifted with the guitar, the drums, the piano and most stunningly, with his voice. He enjoyed setting a mellow mood when he got out his guitar to play and sing. When you climbed into his car, you were expected to enjoy the vibe with him as he played his favorites. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Another of Cole’s impressive talents included softball. He was a strategic and effortless player, often one of the best on the field. He had his own “style” of ball playing and was sometimes unconventional, but always effective. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Cole very much enjoyed consuming arts other than music including documentaries on true crime, history, and organized crime, which was his perfect blend of both. However, he never shied away from good fiction when it came along. He was also an avid reader. His favorite piece of literature in his possession was a poetry collection by Edgar Allan Poe, given to him by his mother as a Christmas present. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Cole enjoyed being a spectator of sports and was proud of his sports memorabilia and wealth of knowledge concerning the subject. He would often text or call his dad to tell him a great game was on or to discuss a recent game that had been played or to alert him that a game was currently on. He had an intricate and critical mind that made his analyzation of games insightful and interesting.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; As a self-proclaimed expert on useless, but interesting trivial information, Cole was always an effortless conversationalist. He made fast friends and was a very easy person to be around, never expecting anything and always providing plenty for his interactions.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Cole treasured his family and friends alike and had many of them. He touched so many lives and lived his life with an easy-going acceptance of all he met. He was known for being nonjudgmental and had quite an eclectic collection of friends, all of whom he would have done anything for. He will be remembered fondly by so many and missed dearly.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Cole is survived by his parents, Tyke and Louise Arnold; his brother Tyke “Bud” and (Sara) Arnold and their children, Jon, Trent, GaBee, C.J., Caeden, Kayden and Andria; and his sister, Jillian Arnold and (Quincy Steel) and their children, Cassius, TawziBelle and Asa. Also left to mourn Cole are his grandmothers Karen Arnold and Isabelle McCandless, and a large loving extended family.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Cole was preceded in death by his grandfather’s Tyke Arnold Sr. and William McCandless. For the last twelve years of his life, he was rarely seen without his best friend and loyal dog, Tubbs, whom preceded his death on June 21st of 2022.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Cole’s favorite past time was simply having as much fun as was allowed and enjoying the company of his many friends. He had a generous and intuitive heart and was always willing to show up and give whatever he could if someone was in need of help. He leaves an emptiness behind him, but it is our hope that he has found peace.

Kenneth R. 'Bud' York of Cozad passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Nebraska Heart Hospital in Lincoln at the age of 87. Bud was born September 5, 1934 in Madison, Illinois to Ralph and Edna Pearl (Fravel) York. Bud grew up on a farm and attended school in Madison. He graduated from Madison High School with the class of 1952. He worked several years Cargill Grain in Granite City, Illinois. On September 8, 1956 Bud married Jennie Stawar. The couple was blessed with a daughter, Kate. Bud was drafted in to the U.S. Army in 1956 and sent to Germany. Following his discharge from the military, Bud had an opportunity to attend college on a military scholarship. He attended Southern Illinois University and graduated with a degree in Business Economics in 1964. In August of 1965, Bud went to work for Allied Mills Feed Plant in East St. Louis, Illinois as a purchasing agent. He transferred to Cozad in August of 1967 as the purchasing agent and hay buyer at Allied Mills. When the mill closed in 1984, Bud then sold crop insurance and conducted seminars to teach other agents to sell crop insurance. He worked for a cable tv company in 1990. Bud was a member of the American Lutheran Church, Cozad Elks Lodge, Eagles Club in North Platte and Cozad Jaycees. He served on the Cozad Hospital Board for 15 years, having served as president for 12. Bud had several hobbies, fishing, hunting, reading and golf. His favorite was woodworking. His talents for woodworking can be found in many homes in Cozad. He also enjoyed spending time at the family cabin at Midway Lake. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen Thiel and her husband, Leo; brother, Ralph York and his wife Helen. Survivors include his wife, Jennie of Cozad; daughter, Kate of Cozad; sister in law, Stephanie Schade of Palm Beach, FL; sister in law, Lorraine Stawar of Granite City, IL; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Bud's wishes were to be cremated. There will be no service.

Morris R. Sukraw, age 79, died on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2022, at Gothenburg Health.

He was born on April 22, 1943, in North Platte to Jarold and Inez (Solomon) Sukraw and grew up on the family ranch in the Sandhills north of Maxwell.&nbsp; His first schooling came as a small boy working the ranch alongside his grandpa, Ernest, and his dad.&nbsp; He walked the mile trail to the one-room schoolhouse on the family school section that he attended with his sisters, brother and neighbor cousins.&nbsp; He played on the basketball team at Maxwell High School, graduating in 1961 with 12 classmates, including his wife-to-be and life partner, Jeanette M. Helberg, and dear friends Morris McKillip and Donna (Sommer) Sundstrom.&nbsp; He had an early and enduring passion for hotrod Fords and fast drives up the north road with mufflers crackling. After graduation he took a job at Monroe Auto in Cozad while also still engaged in ranch work.&nbsp; Morris and Jeanette married on Oct. 26, 1963, at the First Baptist Church in Maxwell.&nbsp; They made their home and family in Gothenburg, where they lived for their 50 years of marriage. In 1964, Morris began working as a partsman at Larson Chevrolet and in 1970 became manager of Gothenburg Genuine Parts Co., which he and Jeanette later owned and operated.&nbsp; After selling the business in 1999, Morris, in lieu of retirement, worked at S &amp; S Auto Parts until March 2020.&nbsp; He respected and enjoyed his many customers over the years, who leaned over his counter with their many mechanical dilemmas to be solved and their good and not-so-good stories and jokes.&nbsp; He would take their calls at home and make trips to the store for them at any time of day or night.&nbsp; He was fair minded, funny and a good and trusted listener. Morris was resourceful and inventive, and could make or fix almost anything out of nearly nothing.&nbsp; As a boy he was always creating games and toys and contraptions to entertain his siblings, which in later years made for lively storytelling.&nbsp; His children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews never tired of hearing about the exploits that he and his brother Loren got up to in their short off-work hours on the home place.&nbsp; The prank curiosities installed along their shared fenceline are surviving testimony to the brothers' enduring playful rivalry. Morris's inventiveness was equal parts gift and necessity.&nbsp; He carried forward the hard work ethic of his homesteader forebears. He revered his family's elder generation and after they passed on, he deeply missed old uncles, relatives and neighbors and their talk.&nbsp; He was the keeper of the Sukraw family history.&nbsp; Morris inherited a spark of his dad's mischievousness along with his mother's kind and gentler ways, but his creative spirit and genius hands were all his own.&nbsp; He was a blacksmith, scrims hander and pen-and-ink sketch artist.&nbsp; He loved shooting and muzzleloaders, dove hunting, raising and flying roller pigeons, fishing trips and camping in the family tipi, falling to sleep with stars winking down through the smoke flaps and waking up to dawn sun through its always east-facing door.&nbsp; He made campfire coffee that only a cowboy could love.

Morris and Jeanette's Gothenburg "homestead" was warm and welcoming to all and was always busy with creative pursuits, indoors and out.&nbsp; Morris's family and their happiness and welfare always came first, and though he worked hard, he was never too tired to play and always took his children's and grandchildren's conversations and interests as seriously as they did.&nbsp; Though he lived his adult life in town, he remained a Sandhiller at heart.&nbsp; He preferred the outdoors and living simply, close to the earth, surrounded by wide open skies.&nbsp; Fence-fixing excursions were occasions for wandering his beloved hills, stopping with a pocket knife to dig up a bouquet of wild leeks to fry up with supper, or discover brief blooms of penstemon in a blowout, or revel in the booming of prairie chickens or the song of a meadowlark on a nearby post, the grace of antelope along the crest of a hill, thunderheads building in the west.&nbsp; These were some of the things that brought him nearest to heaven, until now.

Morris was preceded in death by his grandparents Ernest and Nancy Evaline "Eva" (Miller) Sukraw; Eva's second husband Joe Middleton; Joseph and Flora (Tubbs) Solomon and Flora's second husband, Will Lane; his parents Jarold and Inez; his parents-in-law Roland R. and Beulah (Miller) Helberg; his wife, Jeanette, who died in 2014; an infant brother, Jarold Glen; a delightfully formidable older sister Carol and husband Ken Kieselhorst; his trusty sidearm brother, Loren, and wife Cathy (Zavgren); and a son-in-law, Kevin R. Lutz.

He is survived by his younger sisters and their husbands, Marilyn and Steve Morton of North Platte, who were the dearest of companions to him, and Sharon and Jack Wyttenbach of Sauk City, WI, whose presence through letter-writing meant the world; and his brother-in-law and brother-at-heart Roland L. Helberg and wife Deanna of Maxwell; his children, Ann of Grand Island and partner in life Tom Piontkowski of Aurora, Tracy of Cambridge, MA, Jason of Omaha, and Nathan and wife Dayna of Rogersville, MO; his six grandchildren and their families, Alexander and Mikala Lutz and sons Malcolm, Maxwell, and Calvin, of Ralston, Audrey Lutz and Cody Musilek of Grand Island, Elizabeth and Drew Obrecht-Lutz of Ralston; Ivy Lutz and Jake Brandt of Lincoln; Jaidon Hollingsworth of Omaha; and Khalil Sukraw of Rogersville, MO; and many nephews and nieces and their families.

Interment of ashes at Plainview Cemetery in Maxwell and a memorial celebration of Morris's life will be planned at a later date.&nbsp; Memorial donations in lieu of flowers are suggested to the Arbor Day Foundation (www.arborday.org) or the Nebraska Children's Home Society (www.nchs.org).

Nadine Kay (Hinton) Brown was born to Dale and Iola (Latimer) Hinton on March 25, 1938, She passed peacefully at home on August 26, 2022 in Curtis, NE. Nadine was born northwest of the North Star School in rural Frontier County, Nebraska. She attended school at the North Star Precinct until 8th grade and then attended the Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis, graduating in 1955. She attended Nebraska Teachers College at Kearney for two years. Her first teaching job was in Sutherland, Nebraska where she taught for three years. On June 26, 1960, she was united in marriage to her best friend and life companion Harold Brown at the Congregational church in Stockville, Nebraska. This union was blessed with four children: Chip, Rick, Nick, and Jill. Nadine loved people. She had a smile and warm greeting for everyone. Her friends and family describe her as “loving, kind, full of grace, fun-loving, patient, hospitable, humble, smart, loyal, God-fearing, generous, and always positive.” She had a gift for making everyone feel special and unconditionally loved. Nadine loved children of all ages, especially teenagers. She was a substitute teacher for Curtis and Maywood schools until she was 79. She was also a very active participant in school activities with her children and grandchildren near and far. She was recently honored as “Fan of the Year” from the Medicine Valley Booster Club. Nadine was active in PEO, church, and several clubs and organizations. Other hobbies included golf, bowling and spending weekends at the lake with her family and friends.

Nadine was preceded in death by her husband Harold, parents Dale and Iola Hinton, In-laws Kenneth and Leona Brown, brother Don Hinton, brother in-laws Robert Brown and Al Moore and sister in-law Judy Moore. Nadine is survived by her children Chip and Lory of Elm Springs, Arkansas and their children Joel (Kelly) and daughter Avalyn, Justin, Jamie (Louie) Galloway and son Grayson, and Melissa; Rick and Elaine of Fishers, Indiana and their children Nathan, Rachel, Renee, and Ryan; Nick and Amy of Curtis and their children Connor, Alissa, Joseph, Madison and Ethan; Jill (Adam) Patel of Curtis and their children, Joshua, Kyla, and Jonathan.

Visitation will be Friday September 2, from 2-6 pm at the United Methodist Church in Curtis with family being present from 4 to 6 pm. Funeral will be Saturday, September 3, at 10:30 am at the United Methodist Church in Curtis. Burial will be at the Arbor Cemetery in Stockville, NE at a later date. Garrie Lee Hurlbert, age 78, passed away May 6, 2022, at his home surrounded by family in Pendleton, Oregon.

Garrie was born on July 22, 1943, to Kenneth and Mary (Barnes) Hurlbert in Ord, NE. He was the oldest of six children. He grew up in the Sargent, NE area. He married Phyllis Szafrajda in August of 1961. They lived in California, Colorado, and Nebraska. Three children were born to this union: Marion James, Monica Lynn, and Katherine Kay. They divorced in 1974. He then married Patricia Lanz. To this union he gained a son Spencer Arlyn. They lived in Colorado. They later divorced. On July 13, 1991, he married Marlys Dirks. He gained a daughter Tamera Lynn. They lived in Colorado, Arizona, and later settling in Pendleton, Oregon. Garrie was an over-the-road truck driver. His latest adventure was delivering campers in the northwest. He was a proud member of AA and NA for 38 years. He made friends no matter where he was. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.

Garrie is survived by his wife Marlys of 30 years, son Marion (Jackie) of Murray, UT, daughter Monica (Frosty) Linn of Broken Bow, daughter Kathy (Pete) Miller of Broken Bow, son Spencer (Dawn) of 29 Palms, CA, daughter Tammy Carbaugh (friend Shawn) of Burien, WA, 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, brothers Allen (Patsy) of O’Neill, Kenny (Judy) of Wheatland, WY, sisters Marcia (Pat) Carruth of Bremerton, WA, and Karolyn (Herb) Glinsmann of Arcadia, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. On August 30, 1959, Nada married Fred Krotter at the Palisade Methodist Church and to this union a son, Kevin, was born. Fred and Nada settled on a farm one mile east of Palisade where they would continue to live for 35 years before moving into Palisade. In 2015, Fred and Nada moved to McCook, NE, to be closer to family. In addition to being an avid farm wife, Nada was employed at Walgren’s Grocery Store in Wauneta and at the Wauneta Nursing Home as a cook. She was also a Premier Jewelry representative and she worked at the Elevator as a scales operator. Nada was a member of the Palisade Park Board and was an Eastern Star Worthy Matron. She also volunteered as a Hospice provider and as an EMT on the Wauneta Fire Department. Nada helped beautify Main Street with flower boxes and she gathered donations for the white vinyl fence directory at the Palisade Cemetery. Nada enjoyed crafts and scrapbooking. She especially loved spending time with her family. Nada passed away Thursday, August 25, 2022, at the Kinship Pointe Senior Living Center in McCook. NE. She was 84 years of age. After returning from business school, Esther began working at the bank in Benkelman. On September 5, 1953, Esther married Dean Allen Erdman and to this union two daughters were born: Rhonda and Janette. Esther and Dean settled on a ranch north of Haigler where they would continue to live and raise their family until 1978 when they moved into Haigler. Esther loved the ranch and was an avid homemaker and mother to her two daughters. Esther was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Haigler, Lutheran Ladies Club, Sandhill Butterflies Extension Club, 4-H Leader, and Red Hatters Group. Esther enjoyed sewing, crocheting, needle work of all kinds, crossword and picture puzzles, and crafts. She loved making things for her grandchildren. Esther especially loved spending time with her family. Esther passed away Monday, August 22, 2022, at the Sarah Ann Hester Home in Benkelman, NE. She was 92 years of age. Esther L. Erdman (1930-2022)

&nbsp; B. Diane England, 81, of Ogallala, passed away on August 27, 2022, at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala. Diane was born September 13, 1940, at Salina, Kansas, to Ed M. and Barbara H. (Myers) Cobb. The family moved to Abilene, Kansas, in 1941 and, later, Ogallala in 1945. Diane graduated from Ogallala Senior High School with the class of 1959 and married former husband J.W. England shortly thereafter. On March 15, she welcomed her only child Kathryn (England) Lapp. They made their home in Ogallala, with Diane working at the courthouse until attending Kearney State in 1965, where she earned a degree in education. She held teaching positions in Gaylord, KS, Gothenburg, and Beatrice before her daughter Kathryn became ill. The two moved back to Ogallala to be closer to family. While in Ogallala, Diane chose to work at TRW until receiving her real estate license. Several years later, she would take over Cobb Realty from her father, Ed Cobb, as managing Broker, a position she kept until passing it to her granddaughter in 2019. In her retirement (If you could call it that), she enjoyed traveling notary work. Diane loved the solitude of driving across the state and getting to meet new people on a regular basis. She spent time lavishing attention on her two dogs, Topsy and Torrie, and spent time with her great-grandchildren and friends. Diane loved to travel! She went to England, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Scotland, Mexico, and many more places seeing the world with her family and friends. Her favorite place to go was always New Mexico, where she loved to visit the shops and purchased so much of her signature turquoise jewelry. In later years her travel kept her closer to home, but she still frequently visited friends in Kansas, Denver, and Eastern Nebraska. She was never the type to hold still. She was preceded in death by her daughter Kathryn Lapp, her mother Barbara Cobb, her father Ed Cobb, and her infant grandson Nicholas Walburn. She leaves behind her two grandchildren, Nicole Walburn, and her husband, Charlie Huntsman of Ogallala, NE, Matthew Lapp and his wife, Asiah Lapp of Papillion, NE; 4 great-grandchildren, Hayden Walburn, Trinity Walburn, Arianna Walburn, and Sawyer Lapp; a brother, Ben Cobb of Lawrence, KS; and two nephews, Matt and Daniel Cobb; as well as two great nephews and a great-niece, two loving dogs, and many beloved friends. She leaves behind her two grandchildren, Nicole Walburn, and her husband, Charlie Huntsman of Ogallala, NE, Matthew Lapp and his wife, Asiah Lapp of Papillion, NE; 4 great-grandchildren, Hayden Walburn, Trinity Walburn, Arianna Walburn, and Sawyer Lapp; a brother, Ben Cobb of Lawrence, KS; and two nephews, Matt and Daniel Cobb; as well as two great nephews and a great-niece, two loving dogs, and many beloved friends. Barbara Diane England (1940-2022)

Paul Leonard Stephens, 82, of Lewellen, Nebraska passed away Wednesday August 24th, 2022 at Regional West Hospital in Scottsbluff, NE.

Paul was born November 26th, 1939 to Robert Stephens and Minnie Hill in Pike County, Kentucky. Paul grew up on a tobacco farm in Pike County and attended school there. He later moved to Michigan with his mother and step father, Ellis Hill. In 1950, Paul moved to Denver, Colorado and enlisted in the Army National Guard. There, he met his wife Sharon Ann (Bowen) Stephens and they married in October 1962, making their home in Denver. Sharon and Paul had three sons: Robert, Danny, and Gary.&nbsp; Paul worked in construction for awhile, but ultimately made his career in utility trailer sales, where he retired in 2002 after 35 years. Upon his retirement, Paul moved to Lake McConaughy. Paul enjoyed numerous activities, such as gardening, fishing, hunting, water sports, and working on motorcycles.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife Sharon Ann Stephens. Paul is survived by his sons; Robert L. Stephens, Danny J. Stephens, and Gary L. Stephens, 8 Grandchildren, and 13 Great Grandchildren.

The family chose cremation. Memorial Services will be Saturday, September 17th, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Kingdom Hall. Tony Raffaeli will be officiating. &nbsp; Colleen Anne Jochum, formerly of Sutherland, passed away at Greeley Place in Colorado on August 26, 2022, at the age of 91. Colleen, the daughter of William "Smiley" and Myrtle Dawson, was born October 11, 1930, at the family home in Wallace. Colleen graduated from Wallace High School in 1948 then moved to Sutherland to work as a nurse at the Sutherland Hospital and there she lived with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Briggs.&nbsp; Colleen worked at the telephone office for a short time before going back to work in nursing. While in Sutherland, Colleen met her future husband, Harold Charles 'Hessie' Jochum.&nbsp; They were married on June 25, 1952, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sutherland.&nbsp; They made their home on the Jochum family farm until 1966 when it was sold and they moved into town.&nbsp; Colleen and Hessie had six children and were married for nearly 64 years when he passed away in 2016. Colleen was able to stay home and raise the kids then had a cake business for over 30 years, making cakes for every occasion. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. When the kids were young she enjoyed watching them in their sporting activities and served as a Cub Scout Den Mother.&nbsp; Since she liked to read, Colleen volunteered as a "Reading Mom" at Sutherland Schools. She also enjoyed camping and going on Senior bus trips with Hessie.&nbsp; Colleen was a kind, loving mother and a woman of faith. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she served on the Altar Society.&nbsp; She was also a member and past treasurer of the Sutherland Booster Club and life member, past president, and secretary of the Otto V. Johnson Post #208 American Legion. Colleen Jochum (1930-2022)

On August 26, 2022, at the age of 101, Frances 'Frankie' Vieyra was welcomed into heaven.

Frankie was born November 2, 1920, to Telesforo and Tiburcia Ortega at Silver Lake, KS, and she grew up in Topeka. On January 1, 1941, Frankie was united in marriage to Louis Vieyra. They lived in Topeka then moved to North Platte later that same year. Louis worked for the UP Railroad and Frankie took care of the family. She was the mother of six children and became a foster mother to 23 children. In 1956, Frankie started working for Chef LaLanne then worked for Allen Jared in the flower shop. She retired in 1983 but continued helping others as a volunteer with R.S.V.P., Hospice and P.T.A., and assisted others as a translator. Frankie especially enjoyed making and donating baby blankets and caps for newborns, Great Plains Health and St. Patrick's Catholic Daughters received and shared her gifts. Her favorite pastime was making beautiful, handmade quilts for family and friends; she made hundreds over the years. Frankie was recognized for her accomplishments and service when she received the Hispanic Woman of the Year Award, Presidents Call to Service Award, and R.S.V.P. Award. Frankie was a longtime member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She was active with the Altar Society of Catholic Women, Women of St. Patrick's, and was in charge of funeral dinners for many years. When the kids were young, Frankie was also a Cub Scout Den Mother and Boy Scouts Leader. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis, Sr. and their children, Louis, Jr. and Theresa Toledo; her parents; brothers, Joseph, Raymond and Andrew Ortega; sisters, Marie Rodriguez, Juanita Solis, Mildred Gomez; sister-in-law, Tillie Ortega; and grandchildren, Louis Vieyra, Angela Toledo Miller, Alex Toledo and Jerome Vieyra. &nbsp; Longtime Lincoln County rancher, Craig Henry Phelps, passed away at Centennial Park on August 25, 2022, at the age of 73. Craig, the son of Glen and Alice Phelps, was born June 13, 1949.&nbsp; He was born in Wyoming but always told people he was born in North Platte because they moved here when he was young.&nbsp; The family settled north of town. After graduating from North Platte High School in 1967, Craig received his Associates Degree from North Platte Junior College and his B.S. Degree from U.N.L., majoring in animal science and minoring in accounting.&nbsp; He returned home and started a construction company then became a rancher, which he loved.&nbsp; On March 28, 2018, Craig married Diana Berglund, his girlfriend of 20 years. Craig was a member of the Farm Bureau Board, Lincoln County Rural Fire Board, Heartland Saddle Club, Berean Church, and the Eagles and Moose Lodges.&nbsp; Along with ranching, Craig loved to hunt, fish and work border collies. He was preceded in death by his parents. Craig is survived by his wife, Diana; children, Camille Phelps of Omaha, Kira (Troy) Garrels of North Platte, and Chris (Lori) Berglund of Lincoln; eight grandchildren, including Tyler and Trevor Hill and Ali Garrels; two granddogs; as well as his many friends, neighbors and other family. Judith Kay Campbell passed away peacefully at Kearney Regional Medical Center on August 23, 2022

She went to be with her Lord at the age of 74. She was born on June 13, 1948, in Casper, Wyoming to Ellet and Betty (Brewer) Janski. Judy grew up in the Anselmo/Merna area. She graduated with the class of 1965. After graduation Judy married Michael Miller into that union five children were born. Dean, Traci, Todd, Taynin, and Tara. Judy enjoyed cooking, crocheting, reading, theater, music, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Judy also loved having her hair and nails done. Judy divorced, moved to Omaha and remarried Michael Campbell. Judy worked for OPS as a cafeteria manager until she retired in 2002.

Judy was proceeded in death by her parents, grandparents, and brother James Janski.

Judy is survived by her brothers John Janski and his children of Casper, WY, her children Dean (Kim) Miller of Omaha, and their children, Traci Ellis of Gering, and her children, Todd (Julie) Miller of Loup City, and their children, Taynin (Dan) Harvey of Davenport, IA and their children, Tara (Brock) Yant of Minden, and their children, Judy was also blessed with several great grandchildren that she loved dearly.

Judith Campbell (1948-2022)

Stanley R. Gentzler passed away Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Meadowlark Pointe Assisted Living at the age of 94. Stan was born April 4, 1928 at Homer, Nebraska to Gurney and Mable (Sorensen) Gentzler. He was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church. In 1939, the family moved to Creighton, Nebraska where Stan graduated from high school with the class of 1946. He married Audrey Kukral on June 2, 1949. Their union was blessed with five children, Deanne, Wynetta, Sandra, Dwight and Robert. Stan worked at lumber yards in Creighton and Columbus. He and Audrey moved their family to Cozad in 1961 where he was manager of Mead Lumber. In 1970, Stan became sales manager at Nebraska Plastics in Cozad to promote and introduce a new industry, Country Estate PVC Fence. He traveled all over the United States setting up new distributors of the fence. Stan retired in 1996. He was an active member of the American Lutheran Church, taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. He was president of the Cozad School Board, Rotary Club, Cozad Jaycees and Cozad Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and charter member of the Cozad Elks Lodge. Stan enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing in his free time. He loved cooking and entertaining for family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Audrey; sister, Leola Stingley; and 3 brothers, Roger, Dale and Gordon Gentzler. Survivors include his children, Dee (Roger) Nuss of Lee's Summit, MO, Wynetta (Terry) Headley of Omaha, Sandy (Kevin) Rhone of Lincoln, Dwight (Linda) Gentzler of Lincoln and Bob (Kathi) Gentzler of Gretna; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.

Services will be held Monday, August 29, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the American Lutheran Church with Pastor Kathy Gundell officiating. Private burial will follow. Visitation will be from noon until service time on Monday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the American Lutheran Church.

 </figure>Stanley R. Gentzler passed away Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Meadowlark Pointe Assisted Living at the age of 94. Stan was born April 4, 1928 at Homer, Nebraska to Gurney and Mable (Sorensen) Gentzler. He was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church. In 1939, the family moved to Creighton, Nebraska where Stan graduated from high school with the class of 1946. He married Audrey Kukral on June 2, 1949. Their union was blessed with five children, Deanne, Wynetta, Sandra, Dwight and Robert. Stan worked at lumber yards in Creighton and Columbus. He and Audrey moved their family to Cozad in 1961 where he was manager of Mead Lumber. In 1970, Stan became sales manager at Nebraska Plastics in Cozad to promote and introduce a new industry, Country Estate PVC Fence. He traveled all over the United States setting up new distributors of the fence. Stan retired in 1996. He was an active member of the American Lutheran Church, taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. He was president of the Cozad School Board, Rotary Club, Cozad Jaycees and Cozad Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and charter member of the Cozad Elks Lodge. Sergio Chavez Marquez of Cozad passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at his home in Cozad at the age of 69. He was born December 20, 1952 at Presón de Golondrinas, Madera, Chihuahua, Mexico to Jose Chavez and Esther Marquez.

Sergio was a wonderful father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend that anyone could have. He was always there to help and give when anyone needed it. He spent his life providing for his family in anyway he could. He was very humble and respectful in everything. Creativity is what he valued the most. Many knew him as the handyman of Cozad. He loved his family and absolutely adored his granddaughter, Ariana, along with grandson Jacobi. His passion in life was to tinker and create unique items to give to his family. We all loved him and will miss him dearly, as the legacy he left behind will be remembered forever.

He is survived by immediate family wife, Billie; companion, Adrianna; son, Gonzalo; daughter, Monica; daughter in law, Angie; granddaughters, Jocelyn and Ariana; grandson, Jacobi; sisters, Martha, Irma, GuadaLupe, Graciela, Teresa; and brother, Rene. Family in heaven include his father Jose, mother Esther, sister Carmen, brothers Gonzalo, Oscar, and Javier.

Ricardo was born on March 22, 1989 in Payson, Utah to Ricardo Dorado and Josefina Dorado. He was a 2007 graduate of Lexington High School. He was a loving friend, son, brother and father. Ricky was known to always put everyone first despite his own needs. Anyone that met Ricky knew he was a person who loved to make people laugh without even trying, with his loud and explosive personality. We will all miss his snarky comments, contagious laugh and his beautiful smile. He would steal the whole room when he was around. His passions were music, exercise, and sports.

He leaves behind four loving children: Elian, Yanira, Sebastian and Arelya Dorado.

&nbsp;He is survived by his parents Ricardo Dorado and Josefina Dorado Bermudez, his siblings, Laura (Alfredo) Salinas, Arcelia (Jose L.) Ricardo Dorado, Jr. (1989-2022)

Vernon A. Worm, 68, of Cozad, Nebraska, formerly of Johnson Lake, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on January 15, 1954 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Vernon A. and Patricia (Cappen) Worm. Vern attended school in Waverly. He then went on to further his education at Milford where he earned his degree in Auto Mechanics. Vern made his home in Omaha where he was employed with H &amp; H Automotive. He then moved to Johnson Lake and would spend the next twenty plus years as the Service Manager for Plum Creek Motors in Lexington. They just recently moved to Cozad, Nebraska. Vern was united in marriage to Michelle Gutierrez on April 21, 2007, at Johnson Lake, Nebraska. They enjoyed living at Johnson Lake where they made many friends and always had happy hour at the picnic table. Vern was a huge supporter of the University of Nebraska Volleyball and Football teams. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage and was an avid reader.

Survivors include his wife, Michelle of Cozad; his children, Kathy Kennedy of Fairbury, Mike (Cheri) Worm of Martel, Lori (Jeff) Green of Beatrice, Elizabeth (Mike) Uriel of Lincoln, Desiree (Oscar) Cabellos of Omaha, Dana Pike of Lexington and Broderick “Bubba” of Lexington; grandchildren, Haylee, Kalob, Codie, Riley, Ryan, Zachery, Skylar, Payten, Shania, Trenton, Nathan, Annessa, Jocelyn, Gabriela, Rafeal, Adelina, and Isaac; great-grandchildren, Liam, Conner, Kayden, Silloh, and Bowen; siblings: Jerry (Linda) Worm, Kenny (Ginny) Worm, Leslie (Jolene) Worm, John (Diana) Worm, Patty Farber, Yvonne Castle, Nancy (Bill) Mogee and Amy Jo Worm; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Dorothy Jean Lambert was born on September 30, 1935 to Clarence and Florence (Thompson) Jussel in Beardsley, Kansas.&nbsp; She attended school in Dundy County, Nebraska and graduated from Parks High School.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; On May 15, 1954, Dorothy was united in marriage to Clifford Dale Lambert in Haigler, Nebraska.&nbsp; To this union four children were born: Jim, Terry, Roger, and Susan. &nbsp;Dorothy and Dale made their home in Benkelman, Nebraska for a short time before settling in Trenton, Nebraska. Dorothy was compassionate about helping others and was employed at the El Dorado Manor Nursing Home in Trenton.&nbsp; Dorothy was quite artistic and enjoyed sharing her talents with the residents by decorating the home for holidays and special occasions.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Dorothy was a member of the Methodist Church in Trenton and was passionate about the local community.&nbsp; She was a member of the quilting club, enjoyed playing bridge, and was a longtime member of the MNO “Mother’s Night Out” club.&nbsp; Dorothy was a skilled seamstress and quilter.&nbsp; She would spend countless hours sewing clothes and quilts.&nbsp; Dorothy especially enjoyed sharing her quilts with friends and family.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Dorothy passed away August 22, 2022 at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.&nbsp; She was 86 years of age.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Luetta Ruth (Patton) Bassett was born on September 16th of 1931 to Lester Roy Patton and Martha Elizabeth (Christensen) Patton. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Her life started in a small two room house five miles north of Arnold, she was the eldest of five children (of Martha and Lester). &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Luetta was involved in several aspects of the operation of Patton Ranch, seven miles north of Arnold. These tasks ranged from milking cows, maintaining the house, canning, cooking for all the hired men, all the way to undoubtedly the most important task, caring for her little brothers. She attended Cedar Grove country school as a child and later started high school in Arnold. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; She was joined in marriage to Dick Bassett on July 24th of 1959 in Kadoka, South Dakota. Dick and Luetta lived in several places, Kearney, Loup City, Grant, Broken Bow, and Arnold. Where Dick taught in the public school system. Luetta served as a teacher's aide in Broken Bow and worked several years at Watson grocery store. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Luetta loved flowers and her yard was always an excellent example of that. When she saw a beautiful hanging basket she would ooh and ahh.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Luetta was one of the kindest women any of us had the pleasure of knowing. She would give to people in need and settle for less than she deserved.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Elease and Ted have said and will say time and time again that their mother was one of the best people that they have ever had the pleasure to meet. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; A longtime friend of the family said to her son Ted that Luetta had already secured a special place in heaven just for raising and putting up with him.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Luetta was never one to spread gossip or say anything to hurt anyone. She loved her Lord and knew what was right and wrong. She never went to the church just to make an appearance. She attended the services to praise her lord and savior. This praise was never limited to Sundays. It was every day, all day for 365 days a year. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Luetta’s life was one that was of peace and love. These qualities allowed her to make it through many trials in her life. She never turned her eyes away for her God. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; There are many words to describe Luetta but none of them would truly do her justice. The family knows it well, as well as anyone that has truly known her well.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; It’s said that Luetta never liked being in the spotlight, so just know that she was well and truly loved.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Luetta was preceded in death by her husband Dick Bassett son-in-law Robert Kubish, her parents Lester and Martha Patton, her brother James Patton, sister, Trish Heidt, brother-in-law Harry Heidt, nephew Troy Heidt, niece Charlene Patton, sister-in-law Ardis Roth, brother-in-law Charlie Roth, sister-in-law Lois Patton. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; She is survived by her son Ted and wife Chris Bassett, daughter Elease Kubsih, and stepson David (Debbie) Bassett, she had many grandchildren; Amber (Tommy) Sheffield, Jonathan Kubish, Gregory (Rachel) Kubish, Zack (Kayleen) Kubish, Graham Kubish, Candise (Eric) Loss, Chase (Heather) Bassett, Carson Bassett, Christian Bassett, Charlie (Paige) Bassett, Chaton Bassett, Chloe Bassett, Joel (Kelcey) Bassett, Hannah (Jeremy) Alexander. Luetta Bassett of North Platte, NE formerly of Arnold, passed away August 22, 2022, at her home in North Platte, NEFuneral services will be Monday, August 29, 2022, at 10:00 am at the Baptist Church in Arnold, NE with Pastor Irv Jennigs officiating. Interment will follow in the Arnold Cemetery. Luetta Bassett (1931-2022)

&nbsp; Roberto (Fili) Almanza was born to Martha Rios and Thomas Almanza on April 5th, 1941, in Ignacio Zaragoza, Mexico. He passed away in his home surrounded by family on August 22, 2022, in Imperial, Nebraska. Roberto grew up in El Leon, Mexico with his parents and five siblings. In his early 20’s he met his lifelong partner Gloria Almanza (Bencomo). The two were married on April 5th, 1962. Roberto and Gloria were blessed with six children: Sergio, Hector Manuel, Omar, Aldo, Gloria Lizbeth, and Flor. They were his greatest blessings. The couple raised their children in Zaragoza, Mexico where they farmed and ranched. Roberto enjoyed attending to his livestock and fields. Roberto instilled a hard work ethic into his children and grandchildren. He always looked for ways to better his and his family's lives. Roberto’s love and dedication is what drove him to move his family to the United States in search for a better life. Roberto and his wife resided in Holyoke for several years before moving to Imperial. He was employed by several places in both communities. Due to health complications Roberto retired early. He spent close to 12 years traveling three times a week to McCook in order to receive dialysis. In his many years of attending Davita, Roberto made lifelong friends who also happened to be his caretakers. Roberto always had a sense of humor and joked with his nurses and doctors at Davita. One of Roberto’s greatest joys were his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had 20 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He enjoyed when any of them would visit him and would share stories of his younger self. Roberto had the biggest heart and loved his family endlessly. If he wasn’t with family, he was listening to music or having a snack. Roberto knew no stranger and would welcome anyone into his home. Roberto is survived by Wife Gloria Almanza of Imperial Children; Sergio (Lorena) Almanza of Imperial, Hector (Josefina) Almanza of Beatrice, Ne, Omar (Gloria) Almanza of Imperial, Aldo (Adriana) of Lamar, CO, Gloria (Jesus) Jimenez of Holyoke, CO, and Flor (Uriel) Martinez of Greeley, CO.
