Richard G. Lindeman of Cozad passed away Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Meadowlark Pointe Assisted Living at the age of 75. Rich was born November 19, 1946 at Lexington, Nebraska to Lewis and Evelyn (Bunde) Lindeman. He grew up in Cozad, Nebraska and graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1965. He married Nancy Clark in April of 1967 at the Lexington Presbyterian Church. Rich was drafted into the U.S. Army in September of 1967 during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in action. Following his honorable discharge, Rich returned to his family in Cozad. He drove truck for Rainbow Bread and worked at F &amp; S Sausage until it closed. He then went on to work for Kenny Gerdes Concrete and as custodian and bus driver for Cozad City Schools until his retirement. Rich enjoyed trapping and fishing with his children, horse races in Grand Island and trips to Deadwood, South Dakota to play the slot machines. His pride and joy was his family. He wanted to be together with them all the time. He loved when they all gathered at holidays and made sure Christmas was extra special. Rich was a man of few words, but when he did speak, you had better be listening because it was going to be funny and worth hearing. 

Rich was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy; and son in law, Chris McCurdy. Survivors include his son, Steve (Lori) Lindeman of Bennet, NE; daughters, Jacque (Matt) Yocom of Cozad and Jennifer (Beau) Robertson of Cozad; grandchildren, Lukas and Lauren Lindeman, Jorja and Jax Yocom, Ally and Kelsey Shotkoski and Maisey and Mack Robertson; sister, Jolene (Don) Kemp of Cozad; and many other extended family and friends. Special thank you to his Central Plains Home Health and Hospice Team for their amazing care.

Richard E. Frerichs, 66, of Elwood, Nebraska passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at his home. He was born on April 25, 1956 in McCook, Nebraska to Elmer and C. LeArdis (Keith) Frerichs.&nbsp; At a young age his family moved to Lexington where he attended public schools. Following high school, Richard worked for the Hay Mill in Lexington. He then started his career in construction where he worked for Gary Blu and built many homes in Lexington. &nbsp;Following his time with Gary, Richard worked at Orthman’s, Tenneco-Monroe in Cozad, before joining Vince Urban Construction.&nbsp; Richard enjoyed working for Vince and being a carpenter.&nbsp; He was united in marriage to Cissy Ziegler on October 10, 1975 in Julesburg, Colorado.&nbsp; Two daughters were blessed to this union: Angie and Raquel.&nbsp; The family made their home in Lexington, their marriage would later end in divorce. In the late 90’s, Richard moved to Elwood, Nebraska. Following his time working for Vince, Richard worked maintenance at the Tyson Beef Packing plant before joining Allied Security Company at the Tyson truck gates. Richard was a gifted woodworker, handyman and problem solver.&nbsp; He loved and had a passion for buying and restoring antiques. He also loved going to blues festivals.&nbsp; He enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, camping and just being outdoors, but above all, Richard was a humble, kind, and free spirit who loved his grandchildren.

Survivors include his daughters, Angie (Glen) Doyle of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota and Raquel (fiancé Darin Racek) Frerichs of Lexington; two grandchildren, Caleb (Mackenzie) Doyle of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Jalen Doyle of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota; one brother, Robert (Deb) Frerichs of Eaton, Colorado; three sisters, Doreen (Jack Phillips) of Sterling, Colorado, Janice (Kevin) Cassels of Marietta, Oklahoma and Anna Marie (Ed) Yeutter of Lexington; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Jo, son-in-law; Jason Hafner and brother-in-law, Dale Robinson.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Pastor Rob Kuefner, officiating. The service will be live-streamed via the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home Facebook page.

Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.

Nadene J. Brass, age 87, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022, in Haysville, Kansas. She was born June 7, 1934, to Elmer and Loretta Lewis in Wauneta, Nebraska. Nadene loved spending time with her family and spoiled her grandkids at every opportunity. She loved all animals but especially dogs – they were her fur babies. In later years, you could find her either watching old westerns or working her Cryptograms. She had a loving and compassionate heart for others and loved to be needed. Nadene was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin M. Brass, Jr.; parents, Elmer and Loretta Lewis; and siblings, Lorene, Vera, Glen, Kenneth, and Reva. Nadene Brass (1934-2022)

Norma Ilene Denker, 92, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away peacefully at home on May 13, 2022 surrounded by her family.&nbsp;&nbsp;She came into this world on December 3rd, 1929, as the second daughter of Charles and Clara McBride.&nbsp; She was born in a small house on the family farm in rural Dundy County, Nebraska. As a young girl, the family farm was 7 miles south and 1 mile east of Wauneta, Nebraska.&nbsp; Their farm, located on the south divide, was nestled among many nearby family farms and much of her childhood was spent with frequent visits to and from her large extended families.&nbsp;&nbsp;Long before babysitters or daycares existed, Norma had to accompany her mother as the Kitt family quartet sang and played at weddings and funerals.&nbsp; Norma always swore she disliked the smell of carnations because of their profuse scent at the many funerals she attended with her mother as a girl.&nbsp; Music was a big part of her life, and the family also participated in many of the events and the formation of the Mt. Zion church near her home.&nbsp;&nbsp;She attended a small, one room schoolhouse as a young girl, before the family moved to Brush, Colorado when she was 8 years old.&nbsp; It was here that the family first enjoyed the conveniences of electricity and an indoor bathroom, with an actual sink, toilet and bathtub.&nbsp; She recalled what a splendid luxury that was for them.&nbsp; She spent the remainder of her school years in Brush, and graduated from Brush High School in 1947.&nbsp;&nbsp; As her life as a young woman began, she moved to Greeley, Colorado where she attended several years of college, before the school’s principal in Sunrise, Wyoming invited (“practically begged”) her to become a teacher there. This small mining town was where she met her first husband and the father of their 4 children.&nbsp;&nbsp;After several years in Sunrise, the young Hohnholt family moved to Fort Morgan, Colorado.&nbsp; From there, they eventually settled in Broomfield, Colorado, where they lived until moving in 1972, to Longmont, Colorado for several years.&nbsp;&nbsp;Not always lucky in love, Norma divorced her second husband in 1974 and escaped to safety and family in Wauneta, Nebraska where she lived for many years.&nbsp; It was here that she married Ivan Denker.&nbsp; This was a good, solid marriage that lasted until Ike passed away in 1993.&nbsp;&nbsp;She worked for many years at the Wauneta Co-op Oil company as a bookkeeper.&nbsp; She always loved this job and developed many lifelong friendships while in Wauneta.&nbsp; She retired in 1994 and later on moved to North Platte, Nebraska, where she lived for the remainder of her life.&nbsp;&nbsp;Norma enjoyed travel and went on many trips in the U.S., visiting both the east and west coasts, Hawaii and numerous places in between.&nbsp; She liked bowling and played some golf when she was younger. She also loved playing bridge and other card games and passed on the competitive nature she inherited from her dad, Charlie McBride, to her children and they often engaged in some very competitive card and board games or corn hole when they got together.&nbsp;&nbsp;She had enjoyed reading and was a frequent borrower of library books until her vision diminished and she had to give it up. She joined the Newcomers Club upon first arriving in North Platte and also attended Red Hat festivities.&nbsp; A bit later on, Norma volunteered at the North Platte hospital.&nbsp; Because she had such beautiful handwriting, they began asking her every year to address the invitations for their yearly appreciation banquet.&nbsp; Blessed with a keen wit, family get-togethers were something that her 4 children and their children will always remember.&nbsp; As rowdy as it got, the laughter, camaraderie and family times spent together are occasions that all generations she produced enjoyed immensely.&nbsp;&nbsp;She loved music and we could always get her toes tapping by playing some big band music, or a little Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin.&nbsp; She had many favorite hymns that were also a part of her life.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Norma was a very devoted mother to her four children; Dennis (Judy) Hohnholt, Judi Starnes, Jon (Jerlyn) Hohnholt and Jim (Denise) Hohnholt.&nbsp; She had 8 grandchildren; Jesse Starnes, Jessica Hohnholt-Tedore, Sara Starnes-Chiasson, Matthew Hohnholt, Melissa Hohnholt-Palacios, Brogen Hohnholt, Chase Hohnholt and Stephen Hohnholt.&nbsp; She also leaves behind 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Clara McBride. One sister, Donna Williams and her third husband Ike Denker.&nbsp; Waiting to reunite with her, was also her son Jon Hohnholt and many, many friends and relatives.

While we will miss her greatly, her passing leaves behind a beautiful testament of love and the comfort of knowing that after 92 years she had a life well-lived which was filled with many memories and blessings.&nbsp;&nbsp;The family would especially like to acknowledge the Hospice Care staff for their understanding, assistance and care.&nbsp; They made Norma’s passage peaceful and pain free.

&nbsp; Rae Jean Syverson, 72, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022, at Emerald Nursing &amp; Rehab in Cozad. Rae was born March 14, 1950, in St. Paul, where she grew up and graduated from St. Paul High School with the class of 1968. After high school, she attended Nebraska Wesleyan University, where she met and married John Olsommer in 1970. Three daughters were born to this union: Jennifer Marie, Jacqueline Michelle and Jessica Rae. The couple lived in Omaha and Syracuse, New York before settling in Apple Valley, Minnesota for several years. They later divorced. She then married Joe Syverson in Minnesota, and a few years later, daughter Kayla was born. Rae loved camping and baking, but her favorite pastime was enjoying a cup (or several cups) of coffee while visiting with friends and family sharing stories and laughs. She entered the care of Emerald Nursing &amp; Rehab in May 2020, as her Parkinson’s Disease progressed. Less than 48 hours after her passing heaven gained another member of the family as Rae’s brother, Howard Hadenfeldt, age 66, passed away in Branson, Missouri, after a short battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Rae is survived by her four daughters, Jennifer (Guido) Lipske of Gurnee, Illinois, Jackie Olsommer of Lincoln, Jessica (Jeremy) Goehring of Lincoln, and Kayla Syverson of Minnesota; and four granddaughters. Howard is survived by three children, Jennifer, Nick and Jaime, all of California. He was preceded in death by a son, Kyle. Rae and Howard are also survived by their siblings, Ellen (Jody) Mortensen, Thomas (Katie) Holley and Tim (Theresa) Holley, all of Gothenburg, Pat (Penny) Holley of Lincoln, Richard (Jerri) Fries of Cairo, David (Sharon) Fries of Lincoln and Dianne (Jeff) Berger of Surprise, Arizona. They were preceded in death by their parents and grandparents, and a brother, Donald Eugene Lantz. A combined memorial service is planned for a later date. He was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on September 21, 1954 the son of Terry E. and Madeline Irene (Smith) Shannon. Dennis graduated from Sutherland High School and was married to Kathy Stark in 1973 in North Platte.&nbsp; From this union two children were born.&nbsp; Following the dissolving of this marriage he was married in later years to Colleen Whyte.&nbsp; He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad in his early years, and later worked for ESS Corporation in Ft. Collins and Rifle, CO.&nbsp; He retired from Empire Farms in Reno, NV.&nbsp; Dennis enjoyed playing on pool leagues, mushroom hunting, and spending time with his family and friends.

Those left to cherish Dennis’s memory are his son, Jason Shannon of Granby, CO; daughter, Becky (Josh) Pfannkuch of North Platte; brother, Gary (Connie) Shannon of North Platte; sisters, Jackie (Mike) Brouillette, Rhonda Bohlen, and Cyndi Greene all of North Platte; grandchildren, Kayla Shannon, MacKenzie Shannon, Jacob Staats, Tyler Staats, and Josiah Pfannkuch; great-grandchildren, Weston, Victorya, Dylan, Olivia, Caitlynn, Gia and Ashtynn; former spouse, Kathy Bailey of Ogallalla; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Terry and Madeline Shannon; wife, Colleen Shannon; and granddaughter, Kaleigh Ann Pfannkuch.

Cremation has been chosen and a celebration of Dennis’s life will be announced at a later date.&nbsp; Carpenter Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Sharlene Lois Peterson was born September 27, 1956, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Glenn and Helen (Johnson) Johnson.

Kathryn M. Safranek, age 94, of Merna died May 10, 2022, at the Brookefield Park Nursing Home in St. Paul.

Funeral services will be Friday May 20, 2022, at 10:30 AM at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with Pastor Jason Krause officiating.&nbsp; Inurnment will be at a later date at the Merna Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday May 19, 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM with the family greeting friends 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Govier Brothers.&nbsp; Memorials are suggested to the Kathryn Safranek Memorial.

Kathryn Mae Meyer was born on September 23, 1927, at Berwyn NE to George W. Meyer and Pauline Shirkey Cox. Her whole life was spent in Custer County. She attended Broken Bow High School through the 11th grade. She married Johnnie R Adams of Callaway on September 14,1947. To this union were born Steven Adams (Barbara) of Broken Bow, Sandra McCarty (Vic) of Lincoln, and Peggy Jensen (Dave) of Elba. &nbsp;Katie helped Johnnie on the farm, worked at Master Cleaners, Hesteds, and Becton Dickinson before helping Johnnie run the Garbage Service in Broken Bow. Katie was preceded in death by Johnnie in July of 1967.

&nbsp;Katie married Karl Safranek on August 10th, 1968. They made their home on Karl’s farm at Merna, Ne. This marriage added stepsons Jim Markham (Phyllis) of Merna, Bennie Markham(Glenna) of Aurora, and Harold Markham (Alice) of Texas to Katie's family. She worked beside Karl on the farm, working cattle, fixing fence, driving grain trucks, bookkeeping for the Karl Safranek Machinery business, and going along on buying trips for more tractors. Karl preceded Katie in death in November of 1996. &nbsp;Katie lived her life to the fullest. She was a league bowler for many years. She was an active Does member in the 1960's. She was an accomplished seamstress and passed that skill on to Sandy and Peggy. She loved to read until her macular degeneration became too bad. The last thing she regularly read was her Guideposts. Katie loved playing cards, pinochle, pitch, Skipbo with the grandkids, farmer's rummy whenever family was visiting, and solitaire when home by herself. Katie never met a slot machine she didn't like. A trip out of town usually added a new teapot or salt and pepper set to her collections. Katie was active and loved her church, Emmanuel Lutheran in Merna. Katie was the designated driver for her group of lady friends. They attended many shows, concerts, and shopping trips out of town. Katie lived at her home on the farm until moving to Rose Lane Home in Loup City NE in May 2018. Katie always said it was a good place to be if she couldn't still live at home. She remained in good health until breaking her hip a week before her death on May 11th.

Katie was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, her siblings Bessie Gremm, Joy Kolbo, Helen Yantzie, Ronald Meyer, Harry Meyer, Vanetta Anderson, and Dona Allen Burnworth, stepsons Jim Markham, Bennie Markham, Harold Markham, and grandson Robert Markham. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and brothers-in-law Larry (Burny) Burnworth and Herman Safranek (Detta).

Kathryn Safranek (1927-2022)

Georgiann Rapp, 85, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Avamere in Lexington surrounded by her loving family.She was born December 18, 1936, in Omaha, Nebraska to George and Florence (Cave) Thomas. Georgiann attended public schools in Omaha and graduated from Omaha Central High School with the class of 1954. Georgiann earned her bachelor’s degree in Education from Colorado College in Colorado Springs in 1959. On June 26, 1960, she was united in marriage to Robert Rapp in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Two children were blessed to this union: Robert and Becky. Georgiann and Rob moved to a ranch southeast of Colorado Springs where she worked as a rural one-room schoolteacher, wearing multiple hats, even driving the school bus and having to dodge rattlesnakes on warm days with her VW Beetle. They worked together raising Scottish Highlander cattle and enjoyed showing their herd at the National Stock Show in Denver. The couple moved their cattle to Badger, Minnesota in the mid 60’s where Georgiann continued to work as an elementary schoolteacher. Georgiann and Rob moved to Guide Rock, Nebraska in 1972 for the opportunity to run a large farm and ranch. Georgiann continued her love of teaching and taught at 2R and Bostwick rural schools. While living there, Rob’s two nephews, Val &amp; Gene Horne, came to live with them. All four kids graduated from Guide Rock High School. In the fall of 1983, the family moved to Randolph, Nebraska and the couple worked together raising dairy cattle and running a restaurant and truck stop near Ravenna, Nebraska. Georgiann earned her Master’s Degree in Special Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1986 and taught in Paige, NE. In 1989, they moved to rural Lexington to the family farm. Georgiann worked as a special education resource teacher for ESU 10 and serviced the rural schools in the Arnold, Cozad, and Lexington area. Georgiann taught for over 40 years and after retirement, continued her love for teaching by substituting and working for Lexington &amp; Cozad Public Schools and the Lexington Early Learning Academy which she loved greatly. She was devoted to her students. Robert and Georgiann shared a love of gardening and sharing the produce with neighbors and friends. Georgiann had a great love for music and played the violin in her younger years. She enjoyed reading, knitting, canning, ice-skating, swimming and loved working with children. She had a deep love for her family and loved her dogs and special cat, Miss Kitty. Georgiann was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution for over 30 years and a past member of Eastern Star. She will be remembered for always being willing to help everyone anytime she could, she was so giving and had a heart of gold and had a special place in her heart for the YMCA in Lexington.

Survivors include her children, Robert (Pam Miettinen) Rapp II, of Elkhorn and Becky (Chris) Kautz of Gering; three grandchildren, Dr. Megan (Casey) Collins of Gering, Erin (Ike) Opara of Kansas City, Missouri and Alexander (Allie) Rapp of Chandler, Arizona; two nephews, Val (Kim) Horne and Gene (Modesta) Horne both of Red Cloud, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Jeanie De Leon of Houston, Texas; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Besides her parents, Georgiann was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; daughter-in-law, Patricia; two brothers, Norman and his wife Edith Thomas; Cornelius Thomas, sister-in-law, Crystal (Frank) Horne and brother-in-law, Lowell Rapp.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Chaplain? While living there, Rob’s two nephews, Val &amp; Gene Horne, came to live with them. All four kids graduated from Guide Rock High School. In the fall of 1983, the family moved to Randolph, Nebraska and the couple worked together raising dairy cattle and running a restaurant and truck stop near Ravenna, Nebraska. Georgiann earned her Master’s Degree in Special Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1986 and taught in Paige, NE. In 1989, they moved to rural Lexington to the family farm. Georgiann worked as a special education resource teacher for ESU 10 and serviced the rural schools in the Arnold, Cozad, and Lexington area. Georgiann taught for over 40 years and after retirement, continued her love for teaching by substituting and working for Lexington &amp; Cozad Public Schools and the Lexington Early Learning Academy which she loved greatly. She was devoted to her students. Robert and Georgiann shared a love of gardening and sharing the produce with neighbors and friends. Georgiann had a great love for music and played the violin in her younger years. She enjoyed reading, knitting, canning, ice-skating, swimming and loved working with children. She had a deep love for her family and loved her dogs and special cat, Miss Kitty. Georgiann was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution for over 30 years and a past member of Eastern Star. She will be remembered for always being willing to help everyone anytime she could, she was so giving and had a heart of gold and had a special place in her heart for the YMCA in Lexington.Survivors include her children, Robert (Pam Miettinen) Rapp II, of Elkhorn and Becky (Chris) Kautz of Gering; three grandchildren, Dr. Megan (Casey) Collins of Gering, Erin (Ike) Opara of Kansas City, Missouri and Alexander (Allie) Rapp of Chandler, Arizona; two nephews, Val (Kim) Horne and Gene (Modesta) Horne both of Red Cloud, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Jeanie De Leon of Houston, Texas; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. LeRoy was born August 31, 1928, at Dunbar, Nebraska, to Arthur and Rochelle (Casey) Anderson. He graduated from Dunbar High School. On September 7, 1949, LeRoy married Alice Henner at Dunbar. The couple resided in Dunbar for several years, where LeRoy worked as an auto mechanic. Their union was blessed with two children, Vic and Jenny. In 1966, the family moved to Ogallala, where they lived the rest of their married lives. LeRoy had worked as an automotive service manager for a number of years before going to work for Ogallala Electronics. He and Alice would eventually open the Lazy J Liquor Store, which they operated together for many years. LeRoy loved to tinker in his woodshop and greatly enjoyed metal detecting and camping. He was a hard worker and greatly appreciated the simple things in life. He was also a member of Good Sam's Club. LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Alice. &nbsp; TIMOTHY MORRIS WILSON, 57, of Ogallala, passed away May 8, 2022, at the Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala. Tim was born January 24, 1965, at Sterling, Colorado, to Morris and Carolyn (Thompson) Wilson. He graduated from Berthoud High School with the class of 1983. In 1984, Tim moved to Texas, where he worked as a support technician at the Texoma Regional Hospital. He had also worked in construction for several years, employing the skills he'd learned from his father, Morris, who had been a Hard surface/flooring technician for much of his life. In 1988, Tim's life was greatly enriched with the blessing of his son, Christopher Wilson. Even though Tim suffered from many health issues, such as multiple strokes and heart attacks, since the age of 15, it did not stop him from being the best father he could be to Christopher. His condition left him disabled and unable to work, which gave him much time to spend with Christopher. Despite his struggles to stay healthy, Tim relished the gifts he received in life, like the birth of his grandson, Timothy, and the moments he spent with his family. Though his life was often cloudy with challenges, he had a way of seeing and appreciating the silvery linings. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Carolyn Ruth Wilson &amp; Morris Stuart Wilson. David married Linda Reyna, on June 22, 1974 in Tulia, TX and to this union two sons were born, David, Jr. and Shea.&nbsp; They were happily married for 46 years.&nbsp; They lived thoughout Texas and Kansas before settling in Lexington in 1990.&nbsp; In 2008, they made their home in Gothenburg. David worked for Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer, retiring just over three years ago.&nbsp; He loved fishing and playing golf any chance he got.&nbsp; He enjoyed riding his motorcycle.&nbsp; He loved his Oklahoma State Cowboys football and watching any college football and baseball he could.&nbsp;

David P. Coakley (1954-2022)

Beverly J. Kelley, 86, of North Platte, NE, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at North Platte Care Center.

She was born on October 2, 1935 in North Platte, the daughter of Milton Peter and Sallie Elizabeth (Gosnell) Jepsen. Beverly graduated from North Platte High School in 1953.&nbsp; She married her first husband, Richard N. Housman on April 16, 1956 at First Baptist Church in North Platte.&nbsp; Following the passing of Richard, she married her second husband, Lester Kelley at the Assembly of God Church in North Platte on April 16, 1988.&nbsp; She worked as a teacher’s assistant for North Platte area grade schools for several years and was licensed as a cosmetologist on March 23, 1987.&nbsp; Beverly enjoyed ceramics, traveling and camping with her family.&nbsp; She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.&nbsp;

Those left to cherish Beverly’s memory are her children, Bevie Swanson (Al Mueller) of North Platte, Richard M. Elbert Alonzo Davis, known as Dave A. Davis, was born November 8, 1936, in Loup City, NE to Elbert Diah and Thelma A (Moody) Davis. Thelma and son Larry Owen, both passed during childbirth in August of 1938. Elbert remarried Helen Elizabeth (Landis) on January 4, 1940. Born to their union was Ann Elizabeth Davis on August 18, 1941. Dave graduated from Broken Bow High, then went on to Hastings College, and Auctioneer School in Toronto. Dave was united in marriage to Bonnie Samuelson of Trumbull in June of 1958. To this union two daughters were born: Jill and Abby. In October of 1977, Dave married LaDonna Hoffschneider Schrader. &nbsp;To this marriage, Dave was blessed with children Brenda, Steve, and David. Dave’s love of sports was developed at an early age. He played football, basketball, and baseball. He was a devoted Husker Fan of all Go Big Red Sports. He was also a big fan of major league baseball, especially the Kansas City Royals. He had a passion for pro-football and basketball as well. He enjoyed golfing in his earlier years as a participant and enjoyed the major tournaments on television. The common thread to his enjoyment of all the various sports were the human-interest stories on the athletes, coaches, owners, staff, and families. Dave and LaDonna enjoyed traveling to explore new areas. One area they loved to revisit as much as possible were the mountains of Colorado.&nbsp; Estes Park and Colorado Springs were two of their favorite spots.&nbsp; &nbsp;He loved to joke around with people and was a known prankster. Some thought he needed more fiber in his diet. He was asked to speak at various local events sharing his journey and testimony of faith with others. Dave could be found auctioneering at local and state charity events to raise money for organizations or individuals. He felt compelled to help others struggling in life, especially those with the disease of addiction. Dave cared for others, enjoyed people, and had a memory bank full of details about his first introductions, where that was, when it took place and the events that followed. Dave would strike up conversations with many strangers only for that first meeting. He loved finding out about the commonalties they might share. He was a great storyteller and the subject of many stories himself. Dave was proud of his hometown and felt honored to be so supported throughout the years by the individuals in the community and those who never gave up on him, his devoted family included. Dave would first give all glory and praise to Our Heavenly Father, then always gave credit to his loyal family and steadfast supporters for staying the course with him throughout his life.

Davis, was born November 8, 1936, in Loup City, NE to Elbert Diah and Thelma A (Moody) Davis. Thelma and son Larry Owen, both passed during childbirth in August of 1938. Elbert remarried Helen Elizabeth (Landis) on January 4, 1940. Born to their union was Ann Elizabeth Davis on August 18, 1941. Dave graduated from Broken Bow High, then went on to Hastings College, and Auctioneer School in Toronto. Dave was united in marriage to Bonnie Samuelson of Trumbull in June of 1958. To this union two daughters were born: Jill and Abby. In October of 1977, Dave married LaDonna Hoffschneider Schrader. &nbsp;To this marriage, Dave was blessed with children Brenda, Steve, and David. Dave’s love of sports was developed at an early age. He played football, basketball, and baseball. He was a devoted Husker Fan of all Go Big Red Sports. He was also a big fan of major league baseball, especially the Kansas City Royals. He had a passion for pro-football and basketball as well. He enjoyed golfing in his earlier years as a participant and enjoyed the major tournaments on television. The common thread to his enjoyment of all the various sports were the human-interest stories on the athletes, coaches, owners, staff, and families. Dave and LaDonna enjoyed traveling to explore new areas. One area they loved to revisit as much as possible were the mountains of Colorado.&nbsp; Estes Park and Colorado Springs were two of their favorite spots.&nbsp; &nbsp;He loved to joke around with people and was a known prankster. Some thought he needed more fiber in his diet. He was asked to speak at various local events sharing his journey and testimony of faith with others. Dave could be found auctioneering at local and state charity events to raise money for organizations or individuals. He felt compelled to help others struggling in life, especially those with the disease of addiction. Dave cared for others, enjoyed people, and had a memory bank full of details about his first introductions, where that was, when it took place and the events that followed. Dave would strike up conversations with many strangers only for that first meeting. He loved finding out about the commonalties they might share. He was a great storyteller and the subject of many stories himself. Dave was proud of his hometown and felt honored to be so supported throughout the years by the individuals in the community and those who never gave up on him, his devoted family included. Ruth M. Monter (1932-2022)

Billy R. Rader, 87, of Sumner passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at the Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney, Nebraska.

Billy was born on August 26, 1934 in Farnam, Nebraska to George and Clara (Wickencamp) Rader. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Sumner, Nebraska. His family moved to Overton, where he attended school and then moved to Sumner in 1947. Billy enlisted in the US Army on May 7, 1957, where he served his country in Germany and was honorably discharged on April 24, 1959. Billy was united in marriage with Connie J. Leibhart on August 2, 1959 at Grace Lutheran in Sumner. He worked the majority of his time at Central Alfalfa in between Overton and Lexington know as Joselyn until he retired in 2002. He was a long-time member of the Grace Lutheran Church, where he served in various offices and taught Sunday school. Billy loved doing craft work, making Christmas trees and flags out of pallets. He also enjoyed visiting people and going on road trips.

Survivors include his wife, Connie of Sumner, Nebraska; one daughter, Nancy and her husband Terry Gullion of Lexington, Nebraska; one son, Bryce and wife Karla Rader of Cozad, Nebraska; three grandchildren: Stacy (Bryan) Baker of Waverly, Nebraska, Lindsey (Corey Matley) Gullion of Lincoln, Nebraska and Josh Rader of Houston, Texas; great grandchildren: Carter, Callen, Miles, Mason, Rilyand, Avery, MiCayla; one sister, Irene Knappert of Arapahoe, Nebraska; sisters-in-law: Patsy Rader of Sumner, and Melba Rader of Fort Morgan, Colorado; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Harvey, Art, Ernest, Alfred and Raymond; his sister, Dorothy Esslinger; as well as a great granddaughter, Larissa Gullion.

Ronald Dean Ostendorf, 74, of North Platte, passed away May 10, 2022 at Great Plains Health.&nbsp; He was born on October 16, 1947 to Cobus and Roberta (Kaylor) Ostendorf in Gothenburg. Ronald graduated from Gothenburg High School with the class of 1966.&nbsp; He managed a DX station on the interstate at Gothenburg.&nbsp; He then worked at a filling station in Omaha.&nbsp; Ronald hired on with Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha and transferred to North Platte in the 80’s.&nbsp; He worked as a fireman/oiler until retirement in 2013.&nbsp; Ronald and his long-time companion, Emma Hiatt, loved to travel, fish, and gamble. He will be remembered as an excellent dancer.&nbsp; Ronald was full of life and loved to laugh.&nbsp; He had many connections with his family and friends, never knowing a stranger.&nbsp; Loved Christmas lights and always had a beautiful display.

Janet attended North Platte Public Schools and the First United Methodist Church.&nbsp; She had worked with the Opportunity Center for many years. Janet was a kind, caring person with a warm heart. Paul Jacobsen (1927-2022)

Joyce M. Minnick, age, 70 of McCook, NE, passed away at the Swedish Hospital in Denver on May 6, 2022. She was born in McCook on October 24, 1951, to Warren and Helen (Dike) Young. She attended school in Indianola and graduated in the last graduating class of Indianola High School. On March 29, 1976, she married Richard Minnick at the Medicine Creek Lodge at Harry Strunk Lake. The couple made their home in Cambridge. Joyce managed the Cambridge Locker until 1982 when she moved to Indianola. In Indianola, she opened and ran the Dairy Sweet from 1982 until it closed in 1999. She then began work at the C-Store as manager until she retired in 2003. In 2019, She and Rich moved to McCook. Joyce belonged to the Piece Maker’s Quilt Guild of McCook where she help make quilts for CASA kids and others. She was an accomplished seamstress and ran and coordinated the Indianola bloodmobile for many years. She and Rich traveled to Branson, Phoenix, Nashville, and cruised to Alaska.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren, and Helen; brother, Terry Young Joyce is survived by her husband, Richard of McCook; daughter, Christine (Mike) Vranna of Colorado Springs, CO; son, Dallas (Sarah) Minnick of McCook; six grandchildren: Brady, Regan, Addison, Abreil, Zoee, and Travyn; two brothers, Delton (Vicki) Young of McCook and Larry (Mary Jo) Young of Cambridge; and sister-in-law, Denise Young of Cambridge.

 </figure>Joyce M. Minnick, age, 70 of McCook, NE, passed away at the Swedish Hospital in Denver on May 6, 2022. She was born in McCook on October 24, 1951, to Warren and Helen (Dike) Young. She attended school in Indianola and graduated in the last graduating class of Indianola High School. On March 29, 1976, she married Richard Minnick at the Medicine Creek Lodge at Harry Strunk Lake. The couple made their home in Cambridge. Joyce managed the Cambridge Locker until 1982 when she moved to Indianola. In Indianola, she opened and ran the Dairy Sweet from 1982 until it closed in 1999. She then began work at the C-Store as manager until she retired in 2003. In 2019, She and Rich moved to McCook. Joyce belonged to the Piece Maker’s Quilt Guild of McCook where she help make quilts for CASA kids and others. She was an accomplished seamstress and ran and coordinated the Indianola bloodmobile for many years. She and Rich traveled to Branson, Phoenix, Nashville, and cruised to Alaska.She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren, and Helen; brother, Terry Young Joyce is survived by her husband, Richard of McCook; daughter, Christine (Mike) Vranna of Colorado Springs, CO; son, Dallas (Sarah) Minnick of McCook; six grandchildren: Brady, Regan, Addison, Abreil, Zoee, and Travyn; two brothers, Delton (Vicki) Young of McCook and Larry (Mary Jo) Young of Cambridge; and sister-in-law, Denise Young of Cambridge.The family has chosen cremation. Joyce Marie Minnick (1951-2022)

&nbsp; Mary Cathryn Travis (Luhrs) was born February 4, 1928, in Ord, Nebraska. Mary graduated from Ord High School in 1946 then attended the University of Nebraska – Lincoln graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1950. On August 6, 1950, she married her college sweetheart, Gordon Otto Luhrs, in Ord, Neb. They moved to the Luhrs farm near Enders, Neb., where they lived for thirty-five years. In 1986, Mary and Gordon moved to Gordon's childhood home in Imperial. Mary was a supporter and leader of the Chase County 4-H program for many years. Mary served on various committees in numerous organizations including the First United Methodist Church where she sang in the Choir and acted as the Church Historian for many years. Mary loved to play bridge, garden, sew and quilt along with spending time with grandchildren and cooking huge meals during wheat harvest. She also loved traveling around the country researching genealogy and finding new fabric shops. Mary passed away Tuesday morning, May 10, 2022, at the Imperial Manor. She was 94 years of age. Mary is preceded in death her husband Gordon, by her parents, Horace, and Martha Travis. Mary is survived by her sons, Art and wife Mary, of Wauneta, Bob and wife, Tracy, of Carmel, IN, John and wife Deb of Lawrence, KS and Tom and wife, Lynn, of Imperial; grandchildren, Rob, Victoria, Lauren, Kayla, Nic, Melyssa, Kyleen, Jenna, Travis, Molly and Spencer Luhrs, Gabrielle, Mitchell, Cooper and Blake Fetters, and four great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mary will be held graveside, Mount Hope Cemetery, Tuesday May 17th, 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Melody Newman officiating. Wayne Joy, 83, of Eustis, Nebraska, peacefully went to be with his Heavenly Father on May 8, 2022 at his home in Eustis, NE.

Wayne was born January 20, 1939 in Dodge City, KS, son of George and Joy Bell (Newell) Joy. Wayne graduated from high school in Fowler, KS. He went on to serve in the United States Army in the National Guard and Army Reserve from 1962 - 1967. He married Rosalie Barrett on September 29, 1962 in North Platte, NE. To this union two children were born, one son, Brent, and one daughter, Yvette. Wayne worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator and as a Mechanic. He earned a designation as a master heavy truck&nbsp;technician. Wayne was one of those people who wanted to tinker and fix things from the time he was a child. His first project was to tear apart his mother’s clock at the age of four! What culminated from that love of tinkering was a life of creation, of being able to fix anything and everything. He was a mechanical genius. Wayne owned and operated a welding and repair shop in Eustis, NE from 1974 to 1981. When a tornado went through the Eustis area, causing extensive damage to irrigation pipe, he invented a straightener to repair the pipe. Wayne was always coming up with new ideas to help farmers improve their production. The project which best combined Wayne’s love of mechanics and love of family was completely rebuilding a 1957 Chevy with son Brent. The car they rebuilt together was the car that Wayne and Rosalie drove away from their wedding ceremony. When Wayne worked as a backhoe operator, he was the go-to guy for the construction superintendents for whatever job they were doing. When he finished digging a basement, the sides were perfectly smooth and to specifications, ready to pour concrete | Wayne was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He especially reveled in his great grandchildren as they came along in later years. Children of all ages loved Wayne’s bubbly spirit. They never felt like he was talking down to them. He was able to communicate with them on their level. Others who met and got to know Wayne loved him, and Wayne became an adopted dad to many. He was always available with an easy smile and a big, warm hug. Above all else, Wayne loved and served Jesus. His heart’s desire was, and is, that his family and those who love him would come to know and serve Jesus, as well. His favorite psalm which was read every day was Psalm 91. He was a member of Faith Chapel Church in Gothenburg.

Survivors include wife Rosalie Joy of Eustis, NE; son Brent (Sharon Ann) Joy of Boca Raton, FL; daughter Yvette Joy of Gothenburg, NE; two brothers Verle (Marylyn) Joy of Winona, TX, and Norman (Leona) Joy of Hutchinson, KS; sister Phyllis (Carl) Bartley of Valley Falls, KS; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, George and Joy.

Private family services will take place at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Eustis Fire Department &amp; Rescue, Faith Chapel, Fairview Cemetery, or the Eustis Senior Center.

George Wayne Joy (1939-2022)

Rodney D. Gunlikson born in Kallispell, Montana on October 31, 1938 passed away peacefully at his home in Oshkosh, NE on April 19, 2022.

He has been a member of the Oshkosh community since 2003.

Fredonna “Donna” Lee Ruppert, age 89, of McCook, NE passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.

Donna was born October 18, 1932 in McCook to parents Fred Clarence and Ruth Lillian (Bauer) Swanson.&nbsp; She was one of two siblings who attended grade school in Frontier County and graduated from McCook High School with the Class of 1950.&nbsp; Her education commenced at the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, and McCook Junior College. On May 27, 1952, Donna married Otis Dale Ruppert at the Garden Prairie Church, Quick, NE.&nbsp; Donna and Dale were the proud parents of three sons, Duane, David and Daryl.&nbsp; She was a mother, homemaker, teacher and farm wife.&nbsp; Donna was a full-time partner on their farm, working alongside Dale and their three sons.&nbsp; She faithfully attended her children and grandchildren’s events, whether it be a baseball game or a horseshow.&nbsp; In 1980, Donna joined Mary Kay Cosmetic Company as an independent beauty consultant in McCook and the surrounding areas.&nbsp; She was instrumental in helping other consultants start their businesses in Texas, Oregon, Washington and other states.&nbsp; She retired from Mary Kay on September 1, 2009 having made many new friends and great memories. Donna was a member of the McCook Evangelical Free Church.

Donna was preceded in death by her infant sister, Irma Della; her parents; husband, Dale Ruppert; son, Daryl Ruppert and daughter in law, Darla Ruppert. Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Duane (Jane) Ruppert of Ogallala, NE and Dave Ruppert of McCook; grandson, Dylan (Jessie) Ruppert of Curtis, NE and their children, Sterling and Quincie; brother, Clarence Larry (Donna) Swanson of McCook; along with countless nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Services will be held Friday, May 13th at 2:00 PM at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetary. Visitation will be held the prior evening (Thursday) from 5 - 7 with family present.
