&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;James A. "Jim" Ellett, age 82, departed this world just after sunrise, November 16, 2020 at Great Plains Health in North Platte, Nebraska due to complications from Covid-19.&nbsp; He was surrounded by his loving wife and children.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Born December 1, 137, James A. Ellett was the son of Alvin and Emeline (Calhoun) Ellett.&nbsp; He was a life-long resident of North Platte.&nbsp; He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Jim graduated from North Platte High School in 1956.&nbsp; On November 22, 1956, Jim married his high school sweetheart, Loretta Jarvis.&nbsp; She was his rock for the next 64 years. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;In 1961, Jim graduated from Nebraska Vocational Technical School.&nbsp; Two years later he opened Ellett's Automotive Service in a two-car garage behind his parent's restaurant.&nbsp; Over the next 45 years he built a successful business.&nbsp; He was honest and generous, treating both customers and employees with his unwavering attention and care. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Jim was a kind, tender, and generous family man.&nbsp; He had a passion for excellence.&nbsp; He did everything well and he did a lot.&nbsp; Jim Ellett lived large. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;In the 1970's, Jim was heavily involved in sprint car racing.&nbsp; He built the engines for the sprint car driven by Ronnie Williams.&nbsp; The Ellett's Automotive Race Team competed at the highest level of the sport.&nbsp; The race car&nbsp; never experienced an engine failure. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Jim was athletic.&nbsp; He was especially fond of basketball, and played varsity basketball for North Platte High School.&nbsp; In midlife, Jim and Loretta became avid tennis players.&nbsp; They also enjoyed downhill skiing.&nbsp; Jim loved water sports.&nbsp; He was a sailor, scuba diver, and expert water skier. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman.&nbsp; Much time was spent fishing on Lake McConaughy with friends.&nbsp; On countless mornings, he was in the duck blind or goose pit.&nbsp; Jim enjoyed big adventures!&nbsp; He would take his boat to the Pacific Ocean to fish for salmon.&nbsp; The Columbia river at the Pacific Ocean is one of the most dangerous stretches of water in the world.&nbsp; Jim crossed this waterway many times in his 20-foot boat.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Every summer he took his family on adventure filled vacations. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Jim sold his business and retired in 2007.&nbsp; He was then able to dedicate more time to dog training, a passion of his for the past 23 years.&nbsp; He traveled widely to compete in HRC and AKC Tests.&nbsp; He also competed in local Field Trials.&nbsp; He had many friends in the world of hunting dog retrievers.&nbsp; Jim loved his dogs like family, and of all his adventures, this one brought him the most joy. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Of course, Jim was a huge fan of Nebraska football.&nbsp; He watched his last Husker game with his son a few weeks ago.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Emeline Ellett; a nephew, John Chapman; and a brother-in-law, James Chapman. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He will be missed by his wife, Loretta; his children, James (Jessica) Ellett of North Platte, Nebraska, Kathrine Ellett of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Brenda Ellett Jackson of North Platte, Nebraska; grandchildren Lauren Ellett of North Platte, NE, Alex Ellett Jackson of North Platte, NE, and Georgina Ellett Jackson of North Platte, NE; his nephew, James (Nancy) Chapman of Vista, California; a niece, Jayma (Kevin) Auen of Vista, California; his sister, Janice Chapman of Vista, California; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Larry and Peggy Akin of Vancouver, Washington; and many great niecees, nephews, cousins and friends. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Memorials are suggested to the Bridge of Hope Child Advocacy Center.&nbsp; Please send donations to Adams &amp; Swanson Funeral Home, 421 West 4th Street in North Platte, Nebraska and the family will distribute.&nbsp; Online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Cremation was chosen.&nbsp;&nbsp;Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., August, 12, 2021 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. James A. "Jim" Ellett  (1937-2020)

Christine M. Miller, 74, of North Platte, NE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Linden Court. Born June 27, 1947 in North Platte, NE she was the daughter of the late Clifford H. and Charlotte (Oman) Maline. Christine graduated from North Platte High School and attended Mid-Plains Community College.&nbsp; She worked for the Telephone Company, First National Bank, Wal-Mart and Cabela's.&nbsp; She made lots of friends everywhere she worked with her outgoing and playful personality.&nbsp; She was very active in First Baptist Church and loved being a part of the living Christmas tree.&nbsp; Christine loved to sing.&nbsp; She also enjoyed watching NASCAR, and went to stock car races faithfully for years. Surviving are children, Angela Faling (Robert), Jay Miller, Katie Tomlinson (Billy); former husband, John Miller; grandchildren, Ben Miller (Niki), Izzy Miller, Sky Miller, Tommy Tomlinson, Violette Miller, and Charlotte Tomlinson. She was predeceased by her parents, Clifford and Charlotte Maline. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in North Platte with Darrell Drullinger officiating.&nbsp; Burial will be private.&nbsp; The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Christine M. Miller (1947-2021)

&nbsp; James Phillip 'Jim' Keller, age 70, of North Platte, passed away at home surrounded by his family on August 4, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born to Phillip and Wauneta (Allen) Keller on September 16, 1950, in Ainsworth where he grew up.&nbsp; After graduating from Ainsworth High School, Jim attended Milford College and received his Associates Degree, then returned home to work for his dad at Keller Electric. On June 27, 1978, Jim married Barbara Garner McVay in Sturgis, SD.&nbsp; They lived in Ainsworth until moving to North Platte in 1979.&nbsp; Jim hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad and worked as an electrician until retiring in 2010. Jim loved being outdoors and was a member of the Platte River Sportsman Club.&nbsp; He enjoyed camping, bow hunting and cutting wood for the family fireplace and serving others when in need. Jim believed in helping people through his donations of blood and platelets with the Red Cross.&nbsp; Jim especially loved his family and his dogs as well as attending his kids and grandkids activities.&nbsp; He was commonly known as a 'Gentle Giant' who had a servants heart.&nbsp; Jim will be remembered as a kind, generous man who was always willing to help. He was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Keller. Jim leaves behind his loving wife, Barbara, of North Platte, his dog, Tiny, and his mother, Wauneta Keller, of Hershey; children, Bob (Missy) Keller, of Maxwell, Beki (Col. Mike) Varicak, of Atlanta, GA, and Cathy (Mike) Christ, of Kearney; his brother, Bob (Stacia) Keller, of Longmont, CO; sisters, Bonnie Bellin, of Johnstown, CO, Valeta Hallsted, of Wyoming, Rosalind (Bruce) Beebout, of Kearney and Rhonda Keller (significant other, Russ Billingsley), of Hershey; 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many other family members. Cremation was chosen.&nbsp; Graveside service will be 10 a.m. on Friday, August 13, 2021, at the Plainview Cemetery, south of Maxwell, with Rev. Dr. Douglas A. James Phillip "Jim" Keller (1950-2021)

Erma Ruth (Monroe) Todd was born to parents, Texas Jack Monroe and Grace Ella (Stephens) Monroe on March 29, 1927, at the Cherry County Hospital in Valentine, Nebraska.&nbsp; Her life came to an end there as well when Erma entered Heaven August 2, 2021, at the age of 94 years.&nbsp; At the time of Erma’s birth, her mother filled out the birth certificate at the hospital with Irma Grace Monroe.&nbsp; Once home, her father changed it to Erma Ruth.&nbsp; The certificate was never changed, but she continued to use her father’s choice.&nbsp; Surprisingly, this disparity never caused a problem.&nbsp; In addition, her father chose her childhood nickname of Tootie, which some used into her adulthood.&nbsp; Erma’s childhood years began on the family farm at Sparks, Nebraska, as the Great Depression was taking form.&nbsp; There were six Monroe children, and Erma was in the group of the youngest three, which also included Milly and Jack.&nbsp; These three helped their father with chores and spent hours in imaginary play.&nbsp; The story heard most frequently was that these siblings would have sticks they threw upon the slanted roof of the chicken coup.&nbsp; When any would miraculously stay up there, the kids said they went to Heaven.&nbsp; When the majority fell back down, it was well-known these went to live with the devil.&nbsp; In tribute, on Milly’s gravestone, there are the words, “And they all went to Heaven.”&nbsp; Sticks were also used as cattle.&nbsp; When their father branded, the three “branded” their sticks.&nbsp; When their father counted his herd, they counted their stick cattle on the side of the hill.&nbsp; In addition, the kids had invisible friends they named Lewkey Lawkey, Yor Ya Lawten and Jack’s being Fred Burton. &nbsp;These children flourished with the help of their father and their imaginations during difficult days.&nbsp; With these good memories, Erma always said she could have easily been raised in the barn with the cattle.&nbsp; Erma loved the cows and the three children always gave them names, including Ferdinand and Elsie Belle.&nbsp; Erma remembers her oldest sister, Hazel, sewing dresses for the younger girls.&nbsp; She said she was to stand on the table and hold extremely still, seemingly an eternity, while Hazel traced around her to create a pattern.&nbsp; She also remembers Marjorie liking housework and making wonderful doughnuts, while Elmer helped with the farming and had the ability to gently calm a horse which her father could not. Erma attended school with siblings at the Pleasant Valley School, District 28, in Sparks, Nebraska, about ¾ mile from the family home, often walking there together with cousins.&nbsp; Marjorie, Milly and Erma boarded together in Valentine when attending high school.&nbsp; Erma was devastated when her beloved father died at age 57 from a kidney disease when she was only 14 years of age.&nbsp; She adored her father and often spoke of his affectionate personality and how she loved the time she spent with him.&nbsp; Erma was deeply impacted by this loss.&nbsp; Erma said her mother was a gentle soul who worked so hard, but her father was the one who was able to show great affection.&nbsp; She would always kiss him goodnight before going to bed. After high school graduation, Erma taught school at the Osborn School, District 5, at Sparks, saying she learned more than the children.&nbsp; She lived with her mother and drove the family pickup to and from the school just a few miles away.&nbsp; Erma spoke of the time she took the children to the Niobrara River which was not far away.&nbsp; She said her innocence allowed her to not worry about the children as they played in the river.&nbsp; Erma described how she became horrified several years later at the thought of what could have happened. Erma married her high school sweetheart, Robert Thompson Todd, on September, 28, 1946, after he returned home from serving in the Navy during World War II.&nbsp; She continued teaching another year, then becoming a homemaker and mother to her first child, Steven, on Valentine’s Day in Valentine in 1948.&nbsp; The couple built their first home on Macomb Street during that time, and Erma lived there for over 70 years.&nbsp; Being a mother was her greatest joy, giving birth to six children, Steven Robert, Connie Eileen, Larry Merl, LeAnne Beth, Michael Lee and Diedre Anne.&nbsp; LeAnne died from flu-like symptoms at the age of 16 months.&nbsp; It was during this time that Erma’s faith became so strong and she depended upon God’s promises to get her through the grief.&nbsp; Robert was a self-taught photographer and Erma began developing the photos when it became a side-line business.&nbsp; They created a darkroom in the basement and Christmas cards and wedding photos kept them busy.&nbsp; The living room closet doors, used as a backdrop, were found in numerous local families’ Christmas cards for years.&nbsp; In later years, Erma began altering clothes and became quite an expert.&nbsp; Not only could she do a great job with minor hems, she could beautifully alter prom and multi-layered wedding dresses.&nbsp; When the church needed a seamstress to create the huge banners that now hang from the lofty ceilings, Erma offered her talents.&nbsp; What joy we find when walking down those aisles and seeing the efforts of our dear mama. Erma didn’t join groups easily but she did attend Bible studies for over 40 years.&nbsp; She and Robert were members of the Valentine United Methodist Church and attended Sunday School, with Erma also being part of the prayer chain team.&nbsp; She was a great prayer warrior and many counted on her when prayers were needed. &nbsp;Erma’s 20-minute prayers, said aloud, could be heard each night behind bedroom doors.&nbsp; She had also become active in the Right to Life organization when a close friend and neighbor encouraged her to join.&nbsp; Erma found satisfaction there being so adamant that a baby created by God Himself should be given life.&nbsp; She and Robert were also instrumental in helping get the elementary school bond passed many years ago. Erma was a great cook and she enjoyed hosting numerous holiday feasts each year and did so into her late 80’s.&nbsp; She also began the enormous undertaking of baking hundreds of goodies and mailing out numerous boxes to family members each Christmas for over 30 years.&nbsp; This tradition ended only three or four years ago. Erma endured the loss of a second child, Steve, a year and a half ago on October 20, 2019.&nbsp; Although in extreme grief, she once again showed great faith and agreed that the events preceding that time had been beautifully orchestrated by God.&nbsp; She had spent an evening with Steve and Colleen enjoying their special conversations, traveled with them to granddaughter Lindsay’s wedding in Lincoln, and then attended a reception at the Cornhusker Hotel.&nbsp; Just hours later, her precious first child left this world peacefully in the night beside his wife and with many family members found throughout the hotel.&nbsp; Being surrounded by loved ones that day brought this beloved mother great comfort.&nbsp; She went on to say that her Steve was walking the golden streets of Heaven with his little sister. Erma’s great strength came from her strong Christian faith, and she often and humbly revealed her kindness and generosity.&nbsp; When asked recently what she would want her loved ones to know, she said she wanted all to believe in Jesus as Savior.&nbsp; She knew this is the ONLY WAY to Heaven and she wanted ALL of us there with her for eternity.&nbsp; Erma had yearned to be HOME for several years and what JOY when she finally met her Savior as she entered those gates of Heaven.&nbsp; God’s first Words to her?&nbsp; Probably, “Well done, good and faithful one.” Erma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, infant daughter, LeAnne Beth, son Stephen Robert, grandson Brian James Todd, great-grandson Coltin Michael Todd, brothers Elmer Monroe and Jack Monroe, and sisters Hazel Minshall, Marjorie Green, and Mildred Sherman. Erma is survived by her daughter-in-law, Colleen Todd of Grand Island, and children Connie (Marty) Scherzberg of Papillion, Larry (Lisa) of Rockledge, Florida, Michael of Lincoln, and Diedre (Rusty) Markus of Valentine, &nbsp;grandchildren Lance (Lori) Todd of Staplehurst, Damien (Stephanie) Todd of Kearney, Aaron (Libby) Todd of Grand Island, Brandon Scherzberg of Papillion, Jeffrey (Kathi) Scherzberg of Omaha, Brett Scherzberg of Lincoln, Matthew (Megan) Scherzberg of Aurora, Colorado, Justin (Elaina) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Lori Todd of Omaha, Gregory Todd of North Platte, Lindsay (Chad) Bauer of Lincoln, Nathan Todd of Lincoln, Lacey (Drew) Luebe of Columbus and Ryan (Dawn) Markus of Papillion.&nbsp; Great-grandchildren include Shelby (Elijah) Shaunamann, Audrey and Tanner Todd, Landon and Dalton Todd, Emerson and Oakley Todd, Sabrina and Garrett Scherzberg, Rowan and Kayden Scherzberg, Nona and Aiden Scherzberg, Theo Bauer, Maddie, Brice and Baker Luebe and Grace and Ella Markus, sisters-in-law Pat Monroe of Sparks and Maxine Todd of San Lorenzo, California, and many nieces and nephews. Services were held at the Valentine United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 6, 2021, at 10 AM.&nbsp; Burial followed at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine. Sandoz Chapel of the Pines was in charge of service arrangements.

 </figure>Erma Ruth (Monroe) Todd was born to parents, Texas Jack Monroe and Grace Ella (Stephens) Monroe on March 29, 1927, at the Cherry County Hospital in Valentine, Nebraska.&nbsp; Her life came to an end there as well when Erma entered Heaven August 2, 2021, at the age of 94 years.&nbsp; At the time of Erma’s birth, her mother filled out the birth certificate at the hospital with Irma Grace Monroe.&nbsp; Once home, her father changed it to Erma Ruth.&nbsp; The certificate was never changed, but she continued to use her father’s choice.&nbsp; Surprisingly, this disparity never caused a problem.&nbsp; In addition, her father chose her childhood nickname of Tootie, which some used into her adulthood.&nbsp; Erma’s childhood years began on the family farm at Sparks, Nebraska, as the Great Depression was taking form.&nbsp; There were six Monroe children, and Erma was in the group of the youngest three, which also included Milly and Jack.&nbsp; These three helped their father with chores and spent hours in imaginary play.&nbsp; The story heard most frequently was that these siblings would have sticks they threw upon the slanted roof of the chicken coup.&nbsp; When any would miraculously stay up there, the kids said they went to Heaven.&nbsp; When the majority fell back down, it was well-known these went to live with the devil.&nbsp; In tribute, on Milly’s gravestone, there are the words, “And they all went to Heaven.”&nbsp; Sticks were also used as cattle.&nbsp; When their father branded, the three “branded” their sticks.&nbsp; When their father counted his herd, they counted their stick cattle on the side of the hill.&nbsp; In addition, the kids had invisible friends they named Lewkey Lawkey, Yor Ya Lawten and Jack’s being Fred Burton. &nbsp;These children flourished with the help of their father and their imaginations during difficult days.&nbsp; With these good memories, Erma always said she could have easily been raised in the barn with the cattle.&nbsp; Erma loved the cows and the three children always gave them names, including Ferdinand and Elsie Belle.&nbsp; Erma remembers her oldest sister, Hazel, sewing dresses for the younger girls.&nbsp; She said she was to stand on the table and hold extremely still, seemingly an eternity, while Hazel traced around her to create a pattern.&nbsp; She also remembers Marjorie liking housework and making wonderful doughnuts, while Elmer helped with the farming and had the ability to gently calm a horse which her father could not. Erma attended school with siblings at the Pleasant Valley School, District 28, in Sparks, Nebraska, about ¾ mile from the family home, often walking there together with cousins.&nbsp; Marjorie, Milly and Erma boarded together in Valentine when attending high school.&nbsp; Erma was devastated when her beloved father died at age 57 from a kidney disease when she was only 14 years of age.&nbsp; She adored her father and often spoke of his affectionate personality and how she loved the time she spent with him.&nbsp; Erma was deeply impacted by this loss.&nbsp; Erma said her mother was a gentle soul who worked so hard, but her father was the one who was able to show great affection.&nbsp; She would always kiss him goodnight before going to bed. After high school graduation, Erma taught school at the Osborn School, District 5, at Sparks, saying she learned more than the children.&nbsp; She lived with her mother and drove the family pickup to and from the school just a few miles away.&nbsp; Erma spoke of the time she took the children to the Niobrara River which was not far away.&nbsp; She said her innocence allowed her to not worry about the children as they played in the river.&nbsp; Erma described how she became horrified several years later at the thought of what could have happened. Erma married her high school sweetheart, Robert Thompson Todd, on September, 28, 1946, after he returned home from serving in the Navy during World War II.&nbsp; She continued teaching another year, then becoming a homemaker and mother to her first child, Steven, on Valentine’s Day in Valentine in 1948.&nbsp; The couple built their first home on Macomb Street during that time, and Erma lived there for over 70 years.&nbsp; Being a mother was her greatest joy, giving birth to six children, Steven Robert, Connie Eileen, Larry Merl, LeAnne Beth, Michael Lee and Diedre Anne.&nbsp; LeAnne died from flu-like symptoms at the age of 16 months.&nbsp; It was during this time that Erma’s faith became so strong and she depended upon God’s promises to get her through the grief.&nbsp; Robert was a self-taught photographer and Erma began developing the photos when it became a side-line business.&nbsp; They created a darkroom in the basement and Christmas cards and wedding photos kept them busy.&nbsp; The living room closet doors, used as a backdrop, were found in numerous local families’ Christmas cards for years.&nbsp; In later years, Erma began altering clothes and became quite an expert.&nbsp; Not only could she do a great job with minor hems, she could beautifully alter prom and multi-layered wedding dresses.&nbsp; When the church needed a seamstress to create the huge banners that now hang from the lofty ceilings, Erma offered her talents.&nbsp; What joy we find when walking down those aisles and seeing the efforts of our dear mama. Erma didn’t join groups easily but she did attend Bible studies for over 40 years.&nbsp; She and Robert were members of the Valentine United Methodist Church and attended Sunday School, with Erma also being part of the prayer chain team.&nbsp; She was a great prayer warrior and many counted on her when prayers were needed. &nbsp;Erma’s 20-minute prayers, said aloud, could be heard each night behind bedroom doors.&nbsp; She had also become active in the Right to Life organization when a close friend and neighbor encouraged her to join.&nbsp; Erma found satisfaction there being so adamant that a baby created by God Himself should be given life.&nbsp; She and Robert were also instrumental in helping get the elementary school bond passed many years ago. Erma was a great cook and she enjoyed hosting numerous holiday feasts each year and did so into her late 80’s.&nbsp; She also began the enormous undertaking of baking hundreds of goodies and mailing out numerous boxes to family members each Christmas for over 30 years.&nbsp; This tradition ended only three or four years ago. Erma endured the loss of a second child, Steve, a year and a half ago on October 20, 2019.&nbsp; Although in extreme grief, she once again showed great faith and agreed that the events preceding that time had been beautifully orchestrated by God.&nbsp; She had spent an evening with Steve and Colleen enjoying their special conversations, traveled with them to granddaughter Lindsay’s wedding in Lincoln, and then attended a reception at the Cornhusker Hotel.&nbsp; Just hours later, her precious first child left this world peacefully in the night beside his wife and with many family members found throughout the hotel.&nbsp; Being surrounded by loved ones that day brought this beloved mother great comfort.&nbsp; She went on to say that her Steve was walking the golden streets of Heaven with his little sister. Erma’s great strength came from her strong Christian faith, and she often and humbly revealed her kindness and generosity.&nbsp; When asked recently what she would want her loved ones to know, she said she wanted all to believe in Jesus as Savior.&nbsp; She knew this is the ONLY WAY to Heaven and she wanted ALL of us there with her for eternity.&nbsp; Erma had yearned to be HOME for several years and what JOY when she finally met her Savior as she entered those gates of Heaven.&nbsp; God’s first Words to her?&nbsp; Probably, “Well done, good and faithful one.” Erma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, infant daughter, LeAnne Beth, son Stephen Robert, grandson Brian James Todd, great-grandson Coltin Michael Todd, brothers Elmer Monroe and Jack Monroe, and sisters Hazel Minshall, Marjorie Green, and Mildred Sherman. Erma Ruth Todd (1927-2021)

Robert “Bob” Dennis Woodruff, age 91, of McCook, NE passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at his home at Highland Park in McCook. Bob was born October 18, 1929 in Tintah, Minnesota to parents George F. and Theolyn S. (Christenson) Woodruff.&nbsp; He was one of five children who attended grade school in Tintah, country school in Doran, MN and high school in Campbell, MN.&nbsp; Bob worked on the family farm until his enlistment, at the age of twenty one, in the United States Army.&nbsp; Bob proudly served his country from 1951 until his Honorable Discharge in 1954. The majority of that time was spent serving in Germany.&nbsp;&nbsp; Bob met the love of his life, Betty Marie (Huff) Woodruff on Valentine’s Day, 1954. &nbsp;The couple wed later that same year, on June 20, in Beatrice. Bob’s large family welcomed his new bride with open arms.&nbsp; Bob and Betty moved to McCook in 1966, and were blessed with two children, Charles “Chuck” and Janie. &nbsp;Bob was employed by D and S Hardware from 1966 to 1984 and Country Floral and Design from 1984 to 1997. Bob and Betty were active members of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.&nbsp; Bob enjoyed spending time in the garden, traveling with Betty on countless trips, and especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.&nbsp; Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Woodruff in 2019; his parents, George and Theolyn Woodruff; sisters, Nell Ramming and Vera Lancaster; brothers, Dean Woodruff and Roy Woodruff;&nbsp; father- and mother-in-law, Charles and Lucille Huff.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Those left to celebrate his life include son, Chuck (Holly) Woodruff of Douglas, WY; daughter, Janie (Tom) Bredvick of McCook; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren, Gina Fabricus and her children, Colter, Kambri and Weslee, DeArby Anderson and her children, Aubrey and Ainzley, Jalynn (Kyle) Fredekind and her son, Kaithan and Drew (Sam) Bredvick, Dustin Bredvick and (fiancé Aubrey Wagner) and Dawson Bredvick; as well as many nieces, nephews and great friends. Robert "Bob" Dennis Woodruff (1929-2021)

Joseph Thomas Burns, loving husband and father of three children departed this world on August 3, 2021, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Joe was born in Waterloo, Iowa on April 11, 1944, to Tommy and Betty Burns. Soon after, they would move to McCook, Nebraska to raise Joe and his three siblings. He attended McCook High School where he was on the track &amp; field team as well as being a member of the undefeated 1960 McCook Bison football team that was later inducted into the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame. Joe graduated in 1962 and joined the United States Navy in 1963. Joe was married from 1965-1969 to Mary Nutt and they were blessed with one child, Johnny. On December 30, 1970, Joe married Linda Selfridge and they raised three children; April, Robin, and Tom in Norfolk, VA. Joe retired from the Navy in 1987 as a AZC Chief Petty Officer after a 24 year career and began his civilian life as a district manager for the Virginian Pilot newspaper. In 1991, Joe returned to his roots in McCook, Nebraska. From 1991 to 1993, Joe worked for the McCook YMCA. In 1993, Joe met Loretta Minard and together they worked for the Omaha World Herald as the southwest Nebraska area manager until 2001. They wed on November 3, 2008, and spent their retirement providing affordable housing in the McCook area. Joe was an avid Huskers fan and enjoyed attending football games at Memorial Stadium. He was an animal lover that greatly enjoyed the company of his dogs, Ozzie and Zoey. Joe found his happy place in his boat, at the lake or anywhere a fishing pole was involved. Joseph Thomas Burns was preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice (Betty) Burns and his father Tommy Burns. He is survived by his wife Loretta. His three children, April Burns-Archer and husband Jerry of Greeneville Tennessee, Tom Burns and wife Regina Burns of McCook, and Robin Burns of Greeneville Tennessee. Three step children, Rusty and wife Penny Minard of Bartley Nebraska, Shelly Sundell and husband Rick Sundell of Benkleman, Nebraska, David Minard and special friend Lena Reynolds of Indianola, Nebraska. He is also survived by his three siblings, Pat Burns and special friend Vera Hansen, Cheryl Hamrick and husband Joe, Bob Burns and wife Geri Burns, all of McCook Nebraska. With a host of 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews he was surrounded by love and family who will miss him. Joseph Thomas Burns (1944-2021)

Dorothy Mary (Lloyd) Hubbard was born January 18, 1938, in Phillips County, Colorado, to Loren and Helen (Rouze) Lloyd. Dorothy attended the Fairview country school just up the hill from where she grew up and graduated from Phillips County High School in 1956. She went on to get her Cosmetology license in Denver, Colorado. While in Denver, Dorothy met and married William Douglas Hubbard. Around 1975, they moved back to Dorothy’s home farmstead to take care of her mother after her father passed away. Dorothy and Doug owned a motorhome and a boat. They enjoyed traveling around the country and collecting old cars. One of their favorite spots to stay was Lake Powell. Dorothy’s hobbies were gardening, reading, going to auctions and garage sales. She also loved spending time with her large circle of friends, having lunch, and going on tour buses with them. Dorothy was always very caring and called to check on her friends as well. Dorothy’s friendships were so special, she was thought of as family. Dorothy passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at her home. She was 83 years of age. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Doug, and brother Ray Lloyd. Survivors include her nephew Brent Lloyd, niece Lisa Lloyd and a host of close friends. A graveside funeral service for Dorothy will be held Wednesday, August 11, at 10:00 a.m. (MT) at Pleasant Valley Cemetery with Pastor Kurt Hatteberg of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Venango officiating. Inurnment will follow. Memorials in Dorothy’s memory have been suggested to the Holyoke EMS or Pleasant Valley Cemetery and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Venango.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Dorothy’s friendships were so special, she was thought of as family. Dorothy passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at her home. She was 83 years of age. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Doug, and brother Ray Lloyd. Survivors include her nephew Brent Lloyd, niece Lisa Lloyd and a host of close friends. A graveside funeral service for Dorothy will be held Wednesday, August 11, at 10:00 a.m. (MT) at Pleasant Valley Cemetery with Pastor Kurt Hatteberg of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Venango officiating. LaVon "Bonnie" O. Fattig-McClintock, 95, of Brady departed this life in Cozad, NE on August 3, 2021. LaVon Olaf (Bonnie) was born July 20, 1926 on her paternal grandparents homestead south of Trenton, NE.&nbsp; She was born to Emil L. and Leo Marie (Applebee) Marquardt. When Bonnie was 4 years old her mother died and left a loving husband and 4 small children.&nbsp;&nbsp; On February 14, 1942 she married Donald (Vic) Fattig in Lebanon, MO.&nbsp; To this union four children were born: Donald Dean, William Dale, Robert Lee and Patricia Ann.&nbsp;&nbsp; Bonnie moved to Brady, NE while Vic was overseas during World War II.&nbsp; They moved to the farm in 1960 south of Brady, NE where they raised their family, farmed and managed a Simmental cow/calf operation.&nbsp; They traveled to Calgary, Alberta Canada to attend the National Simmental Association Exposition.&nbsp; Vic passed away in 2000 and Bonnie moved into Brady, NE.&nbsp; She was a member of the Brady Beauties Red hats.&nbsp; Bonnie remarried to Warren McClintock in 2008.&nbsp; They lived in North Platte and enjoyed many trips and cruises with his family.&nbsp; When Warren passed away in 2015 she moved back to Brady, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands; son Donald Dean; Brothers Dors (Eris) Marquardt, Dean (Patricia) Marquardt; sister Evelyn (Earl) Gulzow. James Ledbetter, 86, 0f Chappell passed away Thursday morning, August 5, 2021, in North Platte, Nebraska. James William was born June 30,1935 in North Platte, Nebraska to Earl and Mary E. (Damon) Ledbetter.&nbsp; The family lived in Big Springs and then moved to Seattle, Washington where Jim’s parents worked for Boeing Aircraft.&nbsp; After the war, they moved to Chappell.&nbsp; Jim attended Chappell Public Schools and graduated from Deuel County High School in 1953.&nbsp; While in school, he was active in sports and was a member of the basketball team that won the “Class “C” State Basketball Championship” in 1953. Jim and Mardelle Wier were married in 1954 and became parents of 3 children, Christi Jane, Kelly James, and Curtis Damon.&nbsp; He dearly loved his family and was much loved by them.&nbsp; He was always there for them, through good times and bad, with endless patience and encouragement. Jim worked part-time for the Chappell Farmers Elevator Co. while still in high school and after graduation became a full-time employee.&nbsp; He was at the elevator 42 ½ years- 28 of them as the General Manager.&nbsp; He retired in 1995.&nbsp; Under his leadership, the company became one of the most respected in the state, and he was inducted into the Nebraska Co-Operative Hall of Fame in 2006. Jim was a member of the United Methodist Church for nearly 70 years.&nbsp; He served on the financial committee in earlier years.&nbsp; He was a charter member of the J.C.’s and held all offices in that organization.&nbsp; He belonged to ELKS Lodge #1894 in Sidney, Nebraska.&nbsp; He was secretary/treasurer of the Chappell Chamber of Commerce for some years. Jim had many interests.&nbsp; He liked to hunt, fish, and water ski and was an avid golfer.&nbsp; He won the Men’s Club Championship 6 times and recorded 4 hole-in-ones.&nbsp; He played an important part in establishing the Chappell Golf Course and was secretary/treasurer for many years. Jim was a licensed private pilot and logged many hours on business and pleasure trips in his Piper Cherokee Archer. He was a loving husband, dad and grandpa, and will be forever in our hearts.&nbsp; Jim is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mardelle; daughter, Christi, and husband, Randy Butts; his sons Kelly and Curtis Ledbetter; granddaughters, Ashlee Folsom and Lindsey, and husband, Nick Brezina; and grandsons, Jacob and Levi Ledbetter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Mary Elizabeth.&nbsp; Cremation has taken place and memorial services and inurnment will be held at a later date. Sam Hilliard, 83 of rural Ogallala peacefully entered the kingdom of heaven on Monday, August 2, 2021, at the University of Colorado Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado. Sam always said,&nbsp; “I was born on this farm and I’m going to die on this farm,” when anyone talked about him moving to town. He was fiercely independent and exemplified a quiet strength. Unmoved by guilt or glamour, he was polite and committed to his faith.&nbsp; He went out of his way to be considerate to other people and had an ability to make everyone feel like they were his favorite person in the world. With a great sense of humor and work ethic, Sam’s unconditional love had a lasting effect on his children, grandchildren, friends, and acquaintances. He was born November 6, 1937, to Samuel and Ona (Severns) Hilliard.&nbsp; Sam, was the youngest of 4 children, and grew up more like an only child. His sisters were much older than he and his brother died at an early age. Sam told stories about his parents on the farm raising grain, livestock, and chickens.&nbsp; He remembered that his father told him that pigs were called mortgage busters.&nbsp; His mother sold eggs and milk in town.&nbsp; &nbsp; He loved fresh cream from the cows. His job was cleaning the cream separator. Sam said that nothing was better than a freshly butchered and fried chicken when he was a boy and reminisced that his most memorable gift was the 22 rifle that his dad gave to him when he was 8 or 9 years old.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Sam graduated from Ogallala High School in 1955 and attended Wentworth Military Academy.&nbsp; He married Sharon Mayden on June 7, 1959.&nbsp; They had 3 children, Samuel Kevin, Kelly, and Kristi.&nbsp; Sam loved his kids and bragged on them to anyone who would listen about what they were doing and what they had accomplished in their lives. He farmed with his dad until retirement and could talk farming for hours.&nbsp; He always kept a second job in town and loved working at the Super 8 where he talked daily about the ladies he worked with.&nbsp; He had a pet name for many that he loved and a fun and silly name for everything he enjoyed. He cherished his days on the boat fishing at Lake McConaughey with his son-in-law Mike and had hoped for the day that he could “get out on that boat again.” Sam will always be remembered for being funny and entertaining, teasing and testing Sharon, having all his family together on Christmas Eve, watching Hee Haw and Rawhide, loving Cornhusker football and betting “lunch” on the games, drinking Pepsi-Pepper sodas, making everyone feel like they were his favorite, not having an enemy in the world and being “the nicest person I ever met.”&nbsp; Anyone who ever called Sam on the phone will know that if they called heaven today and Sam were in charge, they would hear that familiar greeting: “Sam’s Place!” Samuel is survived by his spouse Sharon Hilliard, two daughters, Kelly&nbsp; (Kevin) Utley of Sidney, NE, Kristi (Mike Snyder) Hilliard&nbsp; son, Samuel Kevin Hilliard of Holdrege, NE; five grandsons, Shawn (Jeannine) Cochran of Fleming, CO, Shane (Whitney) Cochran of Kearney, NE, Shadd Cochran of North Platte, NE, Nicholas Snyder of Ogallala, NE, Jack Snyder of Ogallala, NE; granddaughter, Jaymie Hilliard of Ogallala, NE; two great grandsons, Colton Cochran, Carter Cochran; great granddaughter, Berkleigh Cochran. Ralph Douglas Millsap, 79, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died July 30, 2021 at Azria Health in Grand Island, Nebraska.&nbsp;&nbsp; He was born September 11, 1941 in Spokane, WA, son of Earl and Josephine Millsap.&nbsp; Doug graduated from Arcata High School, Arcata, CA in 1960. After high school Doug studied diesel engineering at Shasta Junior College and Oregon Technical Institute. He worked as a mechanic for his father's logging company prior to being drafted to the U.S. military for service in Vietnam.&nbsp; He met Mary Catherine Kerr in 1965 and they became engaged in 1966 prior to his deployment.&nbsp; They married in Eureka California on April 16, 1967.&nbsp; They lived in Newport News, VA briefly before making their home in Gothenburg, NE.&nbsp;&nbsp; Doug was employed at the Union Pacific Railroad for over 30 years prior to his retirement. Doug enjoyed fishing, hunting, hiking, backpacking, and many activities that involved the great outdoors. He loved to spend time with family and friends and had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. He will always be remembered as a kind and selfless man that never hesitated to help anyone in need. Surviving Doug are his brother Harvey (Priscilla) Millsap of Las Vegas, NV, sons Eric Millsap of Gothenburg, NE, Mark Millsap of Beatrice, NE, Kyle (Joelle) Millsap of Grand Island, NE; 5 grandchildren along with numerous extended family and friends.&nbsp; Doug was preceded in death by his wife;&nbsp;infant daughters, Whitney and Allison Millsap; his brother, Arnold Millsap, his parents, and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Millsap. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;William Charles Keck, Jr. of Omaha, Nebraska passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on July 22, 2021.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;"Bill" or "Butch" was born on June 8, 1944 in Columbus, Nebraska to William Keck, Sr. and Shirley Blair Keck, where he spent 15 years of his youth.&nbsp; His family then moved to Grand Island, Nebraska where he attended high school. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He married Dana Johnson of Grand Island, Nebraska and they started their family.&nbsp; Bill enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served four years on the USS Enterprise.&nbsp; Upon his honorable discharge, he continued his education at Kearney State College in Kearney, Nebraska, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree as well as a Master's Degree in counseling and guidance. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;These achievements were not fully utilized until he committed himself to a life of sobriety on November 23, 1978.&nbsp; From that moment, he devoted his life and professional career to substance abuse treatment programs in Omaha and Central Nebraska.&nbsp; Helping others to overcome their addiction to drugs and alcohol was his calling and his passion.&nbsp; Many would say his greatest achievements were the establishment of the Siena/Francis House Miracles Chemical Dependence Treatment Center as well as authoring his published book, "From Addiction to Miracles."&nbsp; Bill, however, would be quick to point out he was merely following guidance from his partner, Saint Therese, "The Little Flower."&nbsp; Butch helped thousands to overcome their addictions and find meaning and purpose during his 43 years of sobriety.&nbsp; His impact was far reaching and knew no boundaries.&nbsp; Butch was an instrument of our Lord, by his selfless service of putting the love of God and the needs of others first. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Bill was the oldest of 10 siblings and is preceded in death by his brother, Ed; and his parents, Bill, Sr. and Shirley (Blair) Keck; a niece; a nephew; and great-nieces. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He is survived by his children, Gary, Danny, Debbie (Kaylin) Thomas, Kim Hunting, and Billie Mae Atkins; 26 amazing and beautiful grandchildren; siblings, Bonnie Tilford, Allan, Steve (Cindy), Kathy Buck, Kenny (Teresa), Keven (Alice), Dorothy (Hubert), and Richard; uncle, Bon Blair; aunts, Joy Robertson and Patty Knutson; and 30 nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews and cousins. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Siena/Francis House in Omaha, Nebraska.&nbsp; Catholic masses will also be said for Butch. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Memorial service will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Florence Christian Church in Omaha, Nebraska.

Ralph Eugene Rosse, 79 of Maxwell, NE&nbsp;died December 2, 2020 in Kearney, NE. Ralph was born October 18, 1941 in Randolph, Nebraska to Osse and Ione (Wood) Rosse.&nbsp; He graduated high school from Curtis Ag School in Curtis Nebraska in 1960. After graduation he returned to the family farm south of Maxwell and farmed with his parents, eventually taking over the farm. He enlisted in the United States Army reserves on August 15, 1966 and was honorably discharged on December 31, 1971 as a specialist 4, and was an active member of the American Legion. He married Patricia Boon on January 18, 1969. To this union two children were born, Dwain and Debi. He later went to work for Lincoln County Road department where he worked for 20 years before retiring in 2003. Ralph loved to cook and never knew a stranger. On November 24, 2007 he married his high school sweetheart Linda Kay (Huff) Rosse. Together they enjoyed life and made many memories. Survivors include his wife Linda Rosse, son Dwain (Mikelle) Rosse of Thornton Colorado, daughter Deb (Cody) May of Brady;&nbsp;five grandchildren Jacob, Landon, Emaleigh Rosse and Michael and Mason May;&nbsp;brother Art Rosse of Texas and his sister Patricia Johnson of Cozad, and many extended family and close friends.&nbsp; Ralph was preceded in death by his parents and brothers David and Alan Rosse. Ralph Eugene Rosse (1941-2020)

Clayton Eugene "Gene" Siemers, age 87, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away on July 28, 2021 at Great Plains Health in North Platte&nbsp; with his daughters at his bedside and surrounded by family.&nbsp; He was born on July 24, 1934 to Eduard &amp; Sophie (Sudman) Siemers in Gurley, Nebraska.

Gene attended school in Gurley and then enlisted into the United States Army Airborne. After his discharge he returned to Sidney where he worked for Wheat Belt Public Power District as a lineman. He met his wife Susan Schumacher at The Branding Iron in Sidney, Nebraska and they were married on September 24, 1960 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

The couple lived in Sidney and started their family there. Gene was then working for Cheyenne Pipeline Company. After he became a supervisor with the pipeline, his family moved from Sidney to several other places during his career ‐‐ North Platte, New Mexico, Cheyenne, and their final move was in January 1979, back to North Platte, Nebraska.&nbsp; After his retirement from Conoco Pipeline Company, Gene enjoyed working with his son at Jim's Sun Valley Sod Farm.

Gene taught several of his grandchildren to hunt and fish, and he loved going to the hunting shack near Bridgeport with family and friends. He had a very "colorful" personality and loved to joke and tease. He taught his family a great work ethic and was known for his many "Gene‐isms".

The past few years, Gene frequented several of North Platte's fast‐food restaurants and made friends with many staff members at these businesses.

Clayton Eugene "Gene" Siemers  (1934-2021)

George Ray Wright, age 61 went peacefully to be with his Heavenly Father on July 31, 2021, at home, near Lexington, NE, while holding hands with his wife Sandy, his Forever Soulmate, the love of his life here on earth. George was born on April 26, 1960, to Earl &amp; Fern (Butterfield) Wright in Neligh, NE, the youngest of 5 children, 3 brothers (2 deceased) and 1 sister.&nbsp; His children and grandchildren are Brooke &amp; D.J., Hayden, Landen &amp; Paityn; Sylvia, Ellie, Oliver, &amp; Lillian; Joshua &amp; Nancy &amp; baby Aaliyah, whom Grandpa George did get to meet; and Bradley. When George married Sandy on July 24, 2010, her dad, Dale Svoboda became a big part of their lives as George and Dale had a lot in common, mostly horses. Stepchildren and grandchildren are Omar &amp; Cynthia; Matthew &amp; Lindsay, Henry, Audrey &amp; Elliot; Rachel &amp; Tyler, Camilla &amp; Cooper. George grew up in Ewing, NE where he graduated from high school in 1978.&nbsp; He was active in football, basketball, and track.&nbsp; He loved to run and did so as an adult until knee &amp; hip issues hindered it.&nbsp; He attended Wayne State College for 1 semester and realized he was a rancher and horseman at heart. &nbsp;From the time he was very young, George loved riding horses. He raised, trained, and sold quarter horses and was a lifetime member of the AQHA. One of his recent favorite horses was his blue roan stallion, Fixin Ol Man Blu, which he proudly let Sandy ride when they got together. George enjoyed a lifetime of studying bloodlines and genetics of horses and cattle.&nbsp; George started working in the hayfield with his dad at a young age, milked cows, drove truck hauling cattle, and was a rancher, raising and feeding out cattle.&nbsp; He developed a nice Gelbvieh herd, then when he and Sandy got together, they bought and raised registered Angus cattle, including leasing and selling bulls.&nbsp; George then studied up on the Japanese Kobe breed of cattle and A.I.ed what he chose as genetically exceptional Angus cows and developed his line of Wagyu-Angus cross cattle.&nbsp; This led to his Wright Beef business, Buy Nebraska Beef.com.&nbsp; George thoroughly enjoyed selling quality beef and visiting with customers about his product. George lived most of his adult life on his ranch south of Inman, NE, until he &amp; Sandy moved to the Lexington, NE area in 2020, where he was driving truck for Shotkoski Hay Company.&nbsp; A few months later, George was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer.&nbsp; All of George’s life, he was working hard, taking care of others, supporting, and providing for them, and he was not going to quit. He was very strong, faithful, and fought a hard battle for almost a year, determined to not leave Sandy alone.&nbsp; He ran the race, fought the battle, and became weak and tired…it was time to go to his Heavenly Home and rest.&nbsp; Although George and Sandy only had 12 years together, they loved and lived a lifetime.

Per George’s wishes, to keep things simple like he lived his life, there will be a private Celebration of Life in the near future.

George Ray Wright (1960-2021)

&nbsp;Josie Elizabeth Voss, age 48, passed away August 2, 2021, in her home, after a courageous fight against cancer. Josie was born in Coleville, UT June 3, 1973, to Ile and Ruth Wilde and grew up in Oakley, UT. She attended, hated and graduated from South Summit County schools and then went on to finish an associate’s degree from Snow College in Ephraim, UT. Josie loved riding in the mountains of Utah near her home and gathering cattle in the fall. She participated in 4-H, going to state every year for her horsemanship skills, and competed in high school rodeo with her horse, Dan. In the fall of 1993, she moved with her family to Brownlee, NE, where she met her future husband, Randy Voss. She then volunteered to serve an 18-month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was assigned to labor in war-torn Croatia. She became fluent in the Croatian language and came to love the country and its people. Her service in Europe greatly impacted her life and she spoke of it often. After returning home she married Randy Voss on September 30, 1997, in the Bountiful, UT temple and they made their home in Long Pine, NE. They worked together building custom homes across the state before settling more permanently so that they could also raise some cattle. Together they had four children: Kyann, Cheyenne, Hardin, and Thomas. Josie also enjoyed being a stepmother to Randy’s two sons, Brad and Ryan. The most important things to Josie were her relationships with her Heavenly Father and with her family. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many different callings, from Nursery to Relief Society. She loved the scriptures, especially the Bible, and read them as often as possible and taught them to her children and friends. She chose to be a stay-at-home mom in order to spend as much time as possible with her family, and bravely home-schooled her kids, feeling that her calling in life was to teach them as much as she could. Josie loved gardening, ranch and farm life, cooking, baking, sewing, learning and reading.  </figure>&nbsp;Josie Elizabeth Voss, age 48, passed away August 2, 2021, in her home, after a courageous fight against cancer. Josie was born in Coleville, UT June 3, 1973, to Ile and Ruth Wilde and grew up in Oakley, UT. She attended, hated and graduated from South Summit County schools and then went on to finish an associate’s degree from Snow College in Ephraim, UT. Josie loved riding in the mountains of Utah near her home and gathering cattle in the fall. She participated in 4-H, going to state every year for her horsemanship skills, and competed in high school rodeo with her horse, Dan. In the fall of 1993, she moved with her family to Brownlee, NE, where she met her future husband, Randy Voss. She then volunteered to serve an 18-month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was assigned to labor in war-torn Croatia. She became fluent in the Croatian language and came to love the country and its people. Her service in Europe greatly impacted her life and she spoke of it often. After returning home she married Randy Voss on September 30, 1997, in the Bountiful, UT temple and they made their home in Long Pine, NE. They worked together building custom homes across the state before settling more permanently so that they could also raise some cattle. Together they had four children: Kyann, Cheyenne, Hardin, and Thomas. Josie also enjoyed being a stepmother to Randy’s two sons, Brad and Ryan. The most important things to Josie were her relationships with her Heavenly Father and with her family. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many different callings, from Nursery to Relief Society. She loved the scriptures, especially the Bible, and read them as often as possible and taught them to her children and friends. She chose to be a stay-at-home mom in order to spend as much time as possible with her family, and bravely home-schooled her kids, feeling that her calling in life was to teach them as much as she could. Josie loved gardening, ranch and farm life, cooking, baking, sewing, learning and reading. Howard James "Jim" Hackney, age 53, of Firestone, CO passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 1, 2021. &nbsp; Jim was born June 26, 1968, in McCook, NE to parents Howard Keith and Diane (Morgan) Hackney.&nbsp; He was one of three siblings who grew up in McCook, attending school and graduating from McCook High School with the Class of 1986.&nbsp; Jim then went on to attend Mid Plains Community College in North Platte, NE, where he earned an associate’s degree in welding technology. On July 6, 1991, Jim married Michelle Renee (Sundquist) Hackney in Curtis, NE.&nbsp; To this union their two children, Alec and Alise were born. Over the years, Jim worked at Wintersteiger as a traveling technician before becoming a conductor for the Union Pacific Railroad. &nbsp; Jim was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan and an active member of the NRA. He was passionate about his career and taking care of his family. He also enjoyed doing many outdoor activities, working on cars, and working around the house.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his mother and stepfather, Diane and Wayne Bryant, his sister, Cindy Waddell, and brother in law, Jeremey Sundquist. Thelma Jane Gilbert, age 78, of North Platte died August 4, 2021 at
her home surrounded by her family. Thelma was born
on April 27, 1943 in North Platte to Benjamin C. and Mable E.

 Thelma attended
North Platte Public Schools and married Larry Gilbert June 3, 1959. 
She met many people throughout her careers, was a very hard worker,
and was always very goal-oriented. Thelma enjoyed playing games
especially gin and Yahtzee, where she was always the winner- teaching
her family how to be “gracious losers”! She would win at all
costs! Thelma loved making peanut brittle at Christmas time, enjoyed
early morning conversations with her family while drinking a whole
pot of coffee, and loved her grandbabies immensely. She was always
known as “Grammy” by Bryce. Survivors include
her daughters, Susan (Gordon) Duval of Wellfleet, and Selena (Tim)
Gaudreault of Cozad; son, Stan (Brenda) Gilbert of Kearney; 13
grandkids; 32 great-grandkids; 8 great-great-grandkids; brother,
Bryon (Kimi) Little of Lincoln: sister, Sylvia Barnett of North
Platte: brothers-in-law, Rod Mills, Rich (Peggy) Gilbert, Tim (Jody)

PATSY STONEHOUSE, 91, of Burwell, NE, passed away Friday, July 30, 2021, in Albion, NE. Patsy was born May 30, 1930, in Springfield, Illinois, to Horace and Helen (Green) Montgomery. She attended school in western NE and worked as a secretary. She married Arthur Stonehouse. Their union was blessed with Gale Stonehouse, Dale Jeffrey Stonehouse, and Carolyn (Stonehouse) Rose. Patsy had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel, and had a great appreciation for the outdoors. Swimming, gardening, golf, and reflecting on her time living in Kuwait were some of her fondest memories. Sailing with her children and having a lakeside picnic alongside her grandchildren were her favorite things to do. Cherries were her favorite snack, and loved baking pie. She enjoyed the simple things in life and had many cherished friendships from around the world. She was preceded in death by her parents: Horace and Helen Montgomery. Her brothers: Robert and Dale Montgomery. Her husband: Arthur Stonehouse. Her children: Dale Jeffrey Stonehouse and Carolyn (Stonehouse) Rose. She was survived by her daughter: Gale Stonehouse (70). Virginia Lea "Ginny" Jones  (1930-2021)

Steven N. Daniels was born to Noral and Shirley (Wrage) Daniels on March 3, 1948. He was welcomed home by two older sisters, Connie Lou, and Shirley Ann. Later, they were joined by younger brother, Chuck. He grew up south of Ainsworth, attending country schools and working on his parents' ranch. The family enjoyed dancing and Steve was a good dance partner. He also recalled family outings to the lake, especially his mother getting up early to fry chicken for them. He graduated from Ainsworth High School in 1966 and attended Kearney State College.&nbsp;He worked in Elkhorn as a butcher, then life brought him back to north central Nebraska where he worked as a ranch hand and a truck driver. Steve enjoyed riding horses, fishing, working area brandings and had a knack for fixing just about anything that broke. He was very quick-witted (ornery) and enjoyed meeting new people. He could tell you where every decent truck stop or café was west of the Mississippi, it seemed. He valued a good waitress (was remembered by all of them he picked on) and a cup of strong, black coffee. He loved a good bargain and regularly attended auctions and sales to see what he could find. In recent years, Steve became quite the gardener and enjoyed freezing/canning his bounty. Family gatherings included rousing games of cards, mostly pitch, and cribbage. He did not like when his granddaughters beat him at cribbage particularly and tried all sorts of distraction techniques to gain advantage. Steve also enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up and participated in their extra-curricular activities and events. Steve died on July 30, 2021, as the result of a semi-truck and train accident near Dunning.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his father Noral, granddaughter Nicole, niece Tansy and sister-in-law Dianne.&nbsp; Survivors include Mother Shirley Daniels of Ainsworth, daughters Jolin Everhart of Emmet, Janell (Mark) Stoeger of Valentine, Bobbi (Cliff) Melcher of Battle Creek, Lana (Eric) Hoeferer of Norfolk, and sons Stan (Heather) Daniels of Dalton, and Shane (Kristi) Daniels of Mullen. He is also survived by sisters, Connie Daniels of Scottsbluff, Shirley (Fred) Pitcher of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and brother Chuck Daniels of Ainsworth. Steve leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, as well as friends and neighbors who will mourn his loss.

Funeral services for Steven N. Daniels, 73, of Seneca, Nebraska, will be held Friday, Aug. 6 at 10:00 am&nbsp; at The Lariat Auditorium in Mullen, Nebraska.

Steve died on July 30, 2021, as the result of a semi-truck and train accident near Dunning.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his father Noral, granddaughter Nicole, niece Tansy and sister-in-law Dianne.&nbsp; Survivors include Mother Shirley Daniels of Ainsworth, daughters Jolin Everhart of Emmet, Janell (Mark) Stoeger of Valentine, Bobbi (Cliff) Melcher of Battle Creek, Lana (Eric) Hoeferer of Norfolk, and sons Stan (Heather) Daniels of Dalton, and Shane (Kristi) Daniels of Mullen. He is also survived by sisters, Connie Daniels of Scottsbluff, Shirley (Fred) Pitcher of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and brother Chuck Daniels of Ainsworth. Steve leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, as well as friends and neighbors who will mourn his loss.Funeral services for Steven N. Maxine M. Klein of Cozad passed away Monday, September 28, 2020 at Summer Place Nursing Home in Lincoln at the age of 97. Maxine was born March 12, 1923 at Hastings, Nebraska to Henry and Doris (Ronnfeldt) Boudreau. Her family moved to Cozad in 1932 where she graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1941. Maxine married Jacob Klein on December 1, 1942 in Cozad, Nebraska while he was home on furlough.&nbsp; Maxine worked at Armour &amp; Co until 1945 and then in 1960 went to work as a secretary at the Cozad Medical Clinic. She retired in 1993. She was a member of Cozad United Methodist Church and was in the Leah Circle Women's Society. She also volunteered at 100th Meridian Museum, Thrift Shop, Red Cross Bloodmobile and was a member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW. Maxine was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing and making quilts. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jacob Klein and infant sister. Survivors include her son Bryan (Debbie) Klein of TX; 2 grandchildren, Makayla Klein of TX and Kaleb Klein of CO. Kelly Jo Blum, 62, of Arapahoe, Nebraska passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021 at the University Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Kelly was born August 10, 1958 in Lexington, Nebraska to LeRoy A. and Bonnie J. (Flint) Woodside. She graduated from Gibbon High School with the class of 1976. Kelly attended the Lutheran Church and was a 4-H leader and a member of the ARBA (American Rabbit Breeders Association). Kelly co-owned Blum Construction with her husband Terence. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed photography, hunting, and her love for animals which included horses, ducks, and chickens. Terrence and Kelly achieved their dream of owning an acreage five years ago when they moved from Bertrand to the Arapahoe area. Kelly is survived by her mother; Bonnie Flint of Kearney, her husband; Terence Blum of Arapahoe, two sons; Justin and wife Jessica Bliven of Cozad and Thomas Bliven, Jr. of Cozad, one daughter; Tara and husband Chad Biggs of Kearney, two brothers; Mark Woodside of Kearney and Roger and wife Suzanne Teel of Minden, one sister; Kathy Teel of Kearney, seven grandchildren; Gage, Garret, Gavin, Jostin, Colt and Rayne and Reece Bliven. Kelly Jo Blum (1958-2021)

Fritz Kleinknecht, 82, of Callaway, Nebraska passed away on Monday, April 13, 2020 at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney. Fritz Kleinknecht was born to Paul and Freida (Fritz) Kleinknecht on April 9, 1938 in the outskirts of Cozad, NE. Sadly, his mother did not survive his birth. Fritz spent the first two and a half years of his life with his relatives, Theo and Dora Fritz. His father remarried and returned from Germany to raise Fritz with his stepmother Lina (Fritz), who raised him as one of her own. He graduated from Cozad High School in 1956. Out of high school, he joined the Army Reserves but never saw action. He married his sweetheart, Clarice Wood on October 22, 1961. Fritz and Clarice farmed the land, raised livestock, and milked cows for many years. He loved farming and spending time with his family, tending to his roses, fishing, dancing, and watching Nebraska Cornhusker football. Survivors include his children, Clayton (Kanda) Kleinknecht of Cozad, NE, Kevin Kleinknecht of Callaway, NE, Lisa Lutz of Callaway, NE, and Kurt (Lisa) Kleinknecht of Piedmont, OK; his sister, Mary (Butch) Lamirato of Denver, CO, and brother-in-law, Gifford Massey Jr. of Gothenburg, NE. Fritz is also survived by his ten grandchildren (Tyler, Tess, Chancey, Kyle, Jaden, Karleigh, Carigan, Kaitlyn, Karoline, and Rudolf) and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Clarice; an infant son, his mother, Frieda; father, Paul; stepmother, Lina; and siblings: Darlene, Walter, Ruth, and an infant brother.
