Donald "Don" Hansen, age 86, of Grant, NE, passed away surrounded by family on Monday, July 19, 2021 at the Perkins County Hospital in Grant.

Don was born in Filley, NE to Charles &amp;&nbsp; Mildred (Cornelius) Hansen on June 5, 1935.&nbsp; When he was 5 years old, he moved to Beatrice, NE with his mother and sisters where he attended elementary, junior high and 3 years of high school.&nbsp; In 1952, Don made a trip to Venango, NE with his mother to visit her friends, Charles &amp; Mae Curtis.&nbsp; He loved it there so he decided to stay, graduating from Venango High School in 1953.

Don loved baseball and was a centerfielder for the Venango, and later Brandon, town baseball team.&nbsp; He was a member of the Nebraska State Semi-Pro team and represented Nebraska in Wichita, KS at the National Semi-Pro Tournament in 1961 for Venango and in 1964 for the Brandon Bombers.

In 1955, Don married Nancy Lee Hiatt in Venango, NE&nbsp; don &amp; Nancy had 3 children: Devron, Jamie &amp; Kelly.&nbsp; Don held various jobs in Venango, working for the Farmers Elevator and for his father-in-law farming, feeding cattle (which he hated), carpentry and managing the Hiatt Lumber Yard.&nbsp; He also owned a filling station for a short time.

In January of 1964, Don decided to become a teacher and attended Kearney State Teachers' College in Kearney, NE.&nbsp; He graduated in January of 1968 with a bachelor's degree in education, and in 1974, Don received his master's degree in vocational education from Kearney State College.&nbsp; Don moved the family to Scotia, NE where he taught business for 5 years at North Loup-Scotia High School.&nbsp; In 1973, the family moved to Arnold, NE where Don continued to teach business and coach young students in volleyball, track, golf, and girls basketball for 25 years.&nbsp; Don retired in 1997 and he and Nancy moved to Grant, NE.

Don's passion &amp; favorite pastime was golf.&nbsp; He traveled all over Nebraska, southern Florida, Arizona, and other southern states to play the game he loved with family and friends.&nbsp; Don was also an avid fan of Nebraska football and volleyball, watching the games at every opportunity.&nbsp; Don was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Pheasant Run Senior Golf Team and the Broken Bow Elk's Lodge.

Don was a fun-loving man who loved his family &amp; friends very much.&nbsp; He always had a kind word to share.&nbsp; Don was accepting of all people and recognized the good in all.&nbsp; If you met Don as a stranger, you parted as friends.

Don is survived by his wife of 66&nbsp; years, nancy; his son, Devren (Cindy) Hansen of Grant, NE; his daughters, Jamie (Cary) Perkins of Loveland, CO and Kelly Hansen of Grant, NE; his favorite ex-daughter-in-law, Penny Hansen of Phoenix, AZ; sisters, Carole Barker of Montezuma, IA, JoAnn Wester of Beatrice, NE, and Linda Williams of Beatrice, NE.&nbsp; He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren: Cory, Jaren (Jarhead), Jessie (Jess-a-Mess), Spencer, Ashlee (Ashwee), Melissa, Stephanie, Kenyon, Cameron, Keeler, and Harper; and 13 great-great children; and a host of other family and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his father, Charles; his mother, Mildred;&nbsp; sister, Arlene; grandparents and several nieces and nephews.

Norma “Gale” Roberts age 70, of Burwell, NE passed away Monday, July 19, 2021, at the Community Memorial Health Center-SNF in Burwell, NE.

A Graveside Memorial Service will be Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 2:00 pm at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Sargent, NE with Pastor Marty Robbins officiating. Memorials may be made to Sargent Ambulance.

Gale was born August 9, 1950, in Martin, South Dakota to Norman and Edith (Scott) Truax. Gale had seven sisters, and one brother. Gales is preceded in death by her mom, dad, brother and three sisters.

In 1966 she married Wallace Roberts, to this union three children were born, Bryan (Kim) Roberts, Tracy (Edward) Jamieson, and Julie Collins. Gale had four grandchildren, Marie (Nick) Ernesti, Amber (Lee) Vincent, Lance Colins, Laithyn Collins, and six great-grandchildren.

While working at Anthony’s Market in Sargent, Gale earned her G.E.D. Gale later got her CNA license and began working at the Sargent Nursing Home.

Gale looked forward to Sunday mornings, going to church at Church of Christ in Sargent. She was a die-hard Nebraska Husker football fan, loved crocheting, making her derby cars, watching NASCAR, and old westerns. She especially loved listening to Elvis Presley.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Edwin Armon “Ed” Wetter, 67 years of age, of Oxford, died on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at his home in Oxford.&nbsp; Ed was born on September 22, 1953, in Norton, the youngest of four children, born to H. George and Zeta (Nusse) Wetter.&nbsp; Ed was raised on the family farm three miles east and one mile north of Norton, and received his education from the Frog Pond Country School and Norton Elementary School, and then attended Norton Junior and Senior High School, graduating with the class of 1972.&nbsp; During his school years, Ed enjoyed being involved with FFA, Glee Club, Mixed Chorus, and the DECA Club.&nbsp;

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Following his education, Ed began driving the milk truck for Rite Way (milk) Transfer.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Ed worked as a mechanic most of his life several different places, including:&nbsp; in Holdrege, Nebraska, at Strong Brother’s Chevrolet; for Paulson’s in Cozad, Nebraska; and at Eustis Ag. &amp; Auto.&nbsp; Ed also worked as a ranch hand at Purdum, Nebraska, and other odd jobs.&nbsp;

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Ed enjoyed building hotrods and other mechanical work on vehicles, hunting, and enjoyed watching Sunday Mass on TV every weekend.&nbsp;

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Ed was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Laura Sweeley and her husband, Sherman; one brother, Roger Wetter and his wife, Lynnette (Staab); and one brother-in-law, Jerry Johnson.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Ed leaves to mourn his passing; his son, Edwin “Chuck” Wetter and his wife, Bobbette of Pratt, Kansas; one sister, Caron Wetter of Limon, Colorado; seven grandchildren:&nbsp; Cymbre Wetter, Tinley Wetter, Alyssa Campbell, Dallie Campbell, Jonie Campbell, Charlotte Wetter, and Caselynn Wetter; along with many other relatives, and many friends.&nbsp;

Bill Navarro, 74 of Kearney passed away Monday, July 12, 2021 at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2021 at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. Burial will follow at Kearney Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Kearney American Legion Post #52 and VFW Post #759 in conjunction with the Offutt Airforce Base Honors Team. He furthered his education at Solano Community College in Fairfield, CA where he earned his degree as a registered nurse. Bill worked as a registered nurse in Vallejo, CA before moving to Denver where he worked at the Denver VA Hospital for 35 years. Bill was united in marriage to Sandy Mercer on May 16, 1991. The couple later moved to Kearney. Bill was an avid sports fan, especially anything related to Colorado Sports. He enjoyed watching James Bond movies and comedies, playing with his dogs, and spending time with his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and the rest of his family. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sandy Navarro of Kearney; sons, William “BJ” Navarro of Pueblo, CO; Brad Navarro and wife, Erin, of Norman, OK; and Randall Navarro and wife, Stephanie Tanny, of Centennial, CO; grandchildren, November and Rose Navarro, and Asher, Aedyn, and Ainsley Navarro; brother, Anastacio Navarro of Thorton, CO; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Lorence R. Blase, of North Platte, passed away July 20, 2021, at Great Plains Health at the age of 89. Lorence was born to William and Lydia Blase on March 5, 1932, in Hordville where he grew up.&nbsp; After attending Immanuel Lutheran School for 8 years, Lorence went to Hordville High School where he graduated in 1950. Lorence joined the U.S. Army in 1952 and served until his honorable discharge in '54.&nbsp; He returned home and went to work in agriculture doing farm fuel delivery and corn seed sales for Dekalb.&nbsp; After a few years, Lorence began his career in investments when he went to work for I.D.S. Financial Services in the Hampton area.&nbsp; He transferred to North Platte in 1971 with I.D.S. , which later became American Express Financial Advisors, and eventually retired in 1997. On June 15, 1956, Lorence was united in marriage to Marjorie Bamesberger at Polk.&nbsp; The couple was blessed with two sons, Douglas and Grady, and 56 years of marriage. Lorence was a devoted husband and father.&nbsp; He and Marge enjoyed their retirement years traveling to Arizona during the winters. He was a faithful, Christian man and longtime member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.&nbsp; He served on various church boards and was a member of the American Legion and Optimist Club. Lorence was quite a character; he enjoyed people and making them laugh, and looked forward to having coffee at Arby's and visiting with the guys. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marge, and their son, Douglas; his parents, William and Lydia Blase; sister, Anna Driewer; and brothers, Herbert, Ervin and Carl Blase. Lorence is survived by his son, Grady Blase, of Lincoln; brother, Clarence Blase, of Hordville; as well as many nieces, nephews and other family. Financial Services in the Hampton area.&nbsp; He transferred to North Platte in 1971 with I.D.S. , which later became American Express Financial Advisors, and eventually retired in 1997. On June 15, 1956, Lorence was united in marriage to Marjorie Bamesberger at Polk.&nbsp; The couple was blessed with two sons, Douglas and Grady, and 56 years of marriage. Lorence was a devoted husband and father.&nbsp; He and Marge enjoyed their retirement years traveling to Arizona during the winters. He was a faithful, Christian man and longtime member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.&nbsp; He served on various church boards and was a member of the American Legion and Optimist Club. Lorence was quite a character; he enjoyed people and making them laugh, and looked forward to having coffee at Arby's and visiting with the guys. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marge, and their son, Douglas; his parents, William and Lydia Blase; sister, Anna Driewer; and brothers, Herbert, Ervin and Carl Blase. Lorence is survived by his son, Grady Blase, of Lincoln; brother, Clarence Blase, of Hordville; as well as many nieces, nephews and other family. Allen Steven Neth, 66, of Broken Bow, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021. Allen was born in Broken Bow on March 15, 1955, to Ivan S. Neth and Bonnie Jean (Enterline) Neth. They lived on Ryno Table and attended Ryno School District 218 through eighth grade. He graduated from Broken Bow High School with the class of 1973 and attended the University of Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture (UNSTA) at Curtis, Nebraska. He was united in marriage to Peggy Lee Mills on October 19, 1974, and three children were blessed to this union. They lived in LaGrange, WY, while he attended Frontier Bible College until they moved back to Broken Bow where he began employment at Custer Public Power. He retired from Custer Public Power after 41 years and began Allen Neth Electrical in 2018.&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife Peggy; children, Beth Ann (Terry) Halvorson of Rapid City, SD, Cindy Carlton of Kearney, and Kevin (Jamie) Neth of Arnold; grandchildren Benjamin Halvorson, Ashley Carlton, Gracie Neth, Malachi Neth, Braylen Carlton, and Parker Neth; siblings Marvin (Barb) Neth of Callaway, and Marilyn (Gregg) Johnson of Lincoln; mother-in-law Joyce Mills of Holdrege; brothers-in-law Creig Mills of Holdrege, Rusty (Kirsten) Mills of Warsaw, IN, and sisters-in-law Pam (Jim) Canady of Crawfordsville, IN, Amy (Joe) Keller of Holdrege, and Nancy Mills, of Brewster, KS; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law Douglas Mills III (Bill), and his brother-in-law Greg Mills.

Allen’s pride and joy were his grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was actively involved in church and church youth programs, including men’s Bible studies, AWANA, and Merritt Youth Retreat, and he participated in weekly church services at the local nursing homes. He was a former Broken Bow School Board member. Allen enjoyed fishing, playing bridge, old cars, and motorcycles, and he was a friend to all.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 10:00 am at the Evangelical Free Church in Broken Bow with Pastor Tim Peterson officiating. Allen Steven Neth (1955-2021)

Gerald E. Wibbels made his final move to his heavenly home on July 7, 2021.&nbsp; He was 94 years old.&nbsp; Dad was born on September 18, 1926 to Richard Elmer Wibbels and Eva Blanche (White) Wibbels in Arcadia, Nebraska.&nbsp; He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Arcadia High School in 1944.

Dad was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. He was inducted into the Army in 1945 and spent one year of his military service in South Korea in the 52nd&nbsp;Signal Battalion. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal and the Word War II Victory Medal for his service to his country. He learned to appreciate home, family and his church family. Dad described himself as an innocent boy – a homebody.&nbsp; His military experience grew him up fast.

After returning home he married Orma Rae Lutz in Arcadia on June 24, 1947. They made their home and farmed in the Arcadia area.&nbsp; Their first baby, John Edwin (1948), was still-born and his death was a great loss for them.&nbsp; By 1953, they were blessed with four more children. &nbsp;In 1955, they moved to the Clinton, Iowa area where they continued farming and 2 more children were added to the family. In 1964, the family moved to the city of Clinton where Dad began working at DuPont. Then in 1974, their last child, Sara, was born.

He and Mom were always interested in helping young people, both at church and the Clinton Job Corp where they befriended young people from all over the nation.&nbsp;

Dad worked at the DuPont plant in Clinton for a number of years.&nbsp; After his retirement from DuPont in 1985, they moved to Broken Bow, Nebraska where he worked for almost 15 years as a custodian for the Broken Bow School District.&nbsp; As always, he loved being around young people and became known as “Grandpa” to many.

Dad and Mom moved briefly to Oregon but returned back to their hometown of Arcadia, Nebraska. Dad eventually moved to Ord, Nebraska. where he spent 4 years at Grandview Assisted Living.&nbsp; His final 3 ½ years were spent at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell, Nebraska.

Dad always enjoyed working outdoors.&nbsp; Later in his life he mowed lawns around town and kept it up for as long as he was able.&nbsp; We remember him as a man who loved to tell jokes, tease his kids, and be around people and his family.&nbsp; He loved his Lord, church life and anything John Deere, and we miss him greatly.

Dad is survived by his 7 children – Diane Wilson (Steve) of Clarkdale, Arizona,, Jenifer Barr (Chuck) of Clinton, Iowa, Sharon Tunink (Dave) of Montgomery, Texas, Lee Wibbels (Jeannine) of Canby, Oregon, Mike Wibbels (Jodi) of Englewood, Colorado, Joe Wibbels of Central City, Nebraska, and Sara Heil (Rob) of Hill City, South Dakota; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters – Ruth Apperson of Blair, Nebraska, Janet Hansen (Dean) of Edgar, Nebraska; and numerous nieces and nephews. &nbsp;His “adopted” granddaughter, Jen Busch and her husband Dave and family of Burwell, Nebraska have been very special people in Dad’s life.&nbsp; The Busch’s were there for Dad when family could not be.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Orma, of 59 years; son, John Edwin; one grandson; one great-grandson; daughter-in-law, Jody Wibbels; and his sister, Elinor Moody.

The graveside service will be held at the Arcadia Cemetery in Arcadia, Nebraska at 11:00 a.m. on September 18, 2021 with the memorial service following at the United Methodist Church in Arcadia at 12:00 p.m. Light refreshments will follow the service.&nbsp;

Judith Kay Yost, age 78, of McCook, NE passed away on Monday, July 12, 2021 at Hillcrest Caring Center in McCook.

Judith was born March 14, 1943 in Miller, South Dakota to parents Alfred and Florence (Johnson) Syring.&nbsp; She was one of two children who grew up in central South Dakota where she graduated from Highmore High School with the Class of 1961. She went to attend&nbsp;Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD&nbsp;and Stewart’s School of Hairstyling in Sioux Falls, SD.

On July 6, 1965 Judith married Jerome Yost in Miller, South Dakota.&nbsp; To this union three children were born.&nbsp;

Judith was a member of the St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Miller and worked for many years as bookkeeper at the Miller Co-op.&nbsp; She and Jerome moved to the McCook Community in 2009.&nbsp; Judith enjoyed spending her free time making crafts, sewing and creating ceramic projects.&nbsp;

Judith was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerome Yost, and one half-brother, Doyl Syring.&nbsp;

Those left to celebrate her life include her children, Jade Yost of Manor, TX, Lirin Yost of Destin, FL and Kecia (Thormodsgard) Elliott of Trenton, NE; sister, Sally (Lyle) LaBau of Dallas, TX; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Judith Kay Yost  (1943-2021)

Gelene Brady, 92, entered the gates of Heaven on Thursday, July 15th, 2021, at Imperial Manor in Imperial, Nebraska. Two of her grandchildren were with her as she gained her wings.

Mickie Gelene Brady was born on November 27th, 1928, in Lamar, Nebraska, an only child to Elizabeth and David Michael North.

Gelene started school in 1934 in Lamar, Nebraska. She skipped the 6th grade and graduated the 8th grade in 1942. She attended Chase County High School in Imperial, Nebraska, and graduated in 1946. On June 5, 1947, Gelene married Maurice Lee (Bunny) Brady in St. Francis, Kansas. Gelene and Bunny had five children: Nancy Lee, Michael Scott, Robert (Bob), Beverly Ann, and Patrick Lynn. 

Gelene spent most of her years as a homemaker. She loved raising her children. They were always well dressed with their natural curls neatly tended to. She taught herself how to sew at a young age and was a sewing perfectionist. She made clothes, quilts, blankets and many, many dolls—specifically Raggedy Ann and Andy (each with a heart that said I LOVE YOU), to which she gifted each grandchild and great-grandchild. Each item she made had a special tag inscribed with “handmade by Gelene” or “handmade by Grandma”.

Gelene also was a wonderful baker. Her cinnamon swirl toast, among many other baked goods, was a favorite of her grandchildren and the familiar smell will always be a wonderful memory, held deep in the hearts of her loved ones. Gelene, like her mother, was an avid letter writer. She spent a great amount of time writing letters to her children, grandchildren, and even some great-grandchildren. She was known for her perfect and most beautiful handwriting, to which she passed down a couple generations. Gelene also loved the game of SCRABBLE. She played almost non-stop when her son, Bob, visited her. Her grandson, Adam and his family, also have wonderful memories of playing with Grandma. And, Grandma always won! She was a wordsmith of the game and could often make multiple words at one time. She also loved to attend BINGO and was a regular player until the game shut down and she no longer had a location to visit.

For many years, Gelene was an active member of the Lions Club and received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award (a national award) for dedicated humanitarian services. Over the decades, Gelene’s smiling face could be seen working at many of the new businesses that came to the city of Imperial. One of those most recent jobs included working at the Quik Stop. Gelene was always a friendly face and enjoyed her customers, many of which were also friends. She loved helping out and staying active in the community.

Gelene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bunny; sons, Patrick and Michael, and daughter, Nancy.

Survivors include her son, Bob Brady; daughter, Beverly Brady; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and even a great-great-grandchild, all of whom loved her dearly.

Two of her grandchildren were with her as she gained her wings.Mickie Gelene Brady was born on November 27th, 1928, in Lamar, Nebraska, an only child to Elizabeth and David Michael North.Gelene started school in 1934 in Lamar, Nebraska. She skipped the 6th grade and graduated the 8th grade in 1942. She attended Chase County High School in Imperial, Nebraska, and graduated in 1946. On June 5, 1947, Gelene married Maurice Lee (Bunny) Brady in St. Francis, Kansas. Gelene and Bunny had five children: Nancy Lee, Michael Scott, Robert (Bob), Beverly Ann, and Patrick Lynn. Gelene spent most of her years as a homemaker. She loved raising her children. They were always well dressed with their natural curls neatly tended to. She taught herself how to sew at a young age and was a sewing perfectionist. She made clothes, quilts, blankets and many, many dolls—specifically Raggedy Ann and Andy (each with a heart that said I LOVE YOU), to which she gifted each grandchild and great-grandchild. Each item she made had a special tag inscribed with “handmade by Gelene” or “handmade by Grandma”.Gelene also was a wonderful baker. Her cinnamon swirl toast, among many other baked goods, was a favorite of her grandchildren and the familiar smell will always be a wonderful memory, held deep in the hearts of her loved ones. Gelene, like her mother, was an avid letter writer. She spent a great amount of time writing letters to her children, grandchildren, and even some great-grandchildren. She was known for her perfect and most beautiful handwriting, to which she passed down a couple generations. Gelene also loved the game of SCRABBLE. She played almost non-stop when her son, Bob, visited her. Her grandson, Adam and his family, also have wonderful memories of playing with Grandma. And, Grandma always won! She was a wordsmith of the game and could often make multiple words at one time. Gelene Brady (1928-2021)

Wilton “Willie” Padgett, 86, of North Platte, passed away July 16, 2021 at Linden Court. He was born on March 9, 1935 to Henry and Juanita (Starling) Padgett in Chiefland, Florida.

Willie graduated from Westminster High School in Denver with the class of 1953. He entered the United States Marines on December 29, 1953 and served stateside. After his discharge in 1956, Willie went back to Denver. He married Vauni Powell and to this union three children were born, Frederick, Darrin, and Lynette Padgett.

On March 2, 1979 Willie married Margaret (Greivel) Parker at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Julesburg, Colorado. The couple lived in Ogallala and Willie worked as meat market manager at Safeway in Ogallala. He worked at Hatch’s Super Food in Grant and retired in 2016. They moved to North Platte in 2017.

Willie liked to golf and was passionate about his yard and animals, especially his dogs. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed motorcycles and waved and talked to everyone, never knowing a stranger.

Survivors include wife Margaret of North Platte; children, Darrin A. (Tammy) Padgett of Ogallala, Lynette Fowler of Ogallala, James J. (Maryann) Parker IV of North Platte, William “Eric” (Colleen) Parker of Casper, Wyoming; eight grandchildren, Andrew Scott, Nathan Padgett, Morgan (Eric) Enyeart, Haley (Brad) Adkisson, Jacob Parker, Emily (Kris) Boardman, Cherie O’Bryant, Austin Padgett; fifteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sister-in-law, Joan Padgett of Denver; several nephews; dog and best friend, Beau.

He was preceded in death by wife Vauni, his parents, Henry and Juanita; step-father, Horace “Pete” Phillips; son, Frederick “Ricky”; brother, Norman; sisters, Dorothy “Dot” and Lenore.

The family would like to extend their gratitude for the excellent care by the Linden Court Staff. Also, for the loving care of Willie by Dr. Eduardo Freitas.

James H. 'Jim' Holmstedt, age 71, of Sutherland, Nebraska passed away at Great&nbsp;Plains Health in North Platte, Nebraska on June 27, 2021. Jim was born to Clarence and Irene (Daigh) Holmstedt on February 5, 1950, in North Platte.&nbsp; He grew up in Sutherland where he graduated from&nbsp;high school in 1968.&nbsp; Jim then joined the U.S. Navy in December and served until his honorable discharge in '72. Jim eventually returned to Sutherland and hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad, working as a signalman for 32 years until retiring.&nbsp; He married Patricia Combs in 1972 and they divorced a few years later.&nbsp; In 1984, Jim married Thelma Layton and they were together until her death&nbsp;in 2008. Jim remarried Patricia in January 2009 and they made their home together&nbsp;in Sutherland.&nbsp; He was a life member of the VFW and Military Order of&nbsp;the Cooties. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Irene Holmstedt. Jim is survived by his wife, Patricia, of Sutherland, NE; sisters, Linda Holmstedt of North Platte, NE and Lorna (Calvin) Johannes of Iowa; his children, James Gloe, Duane Holmstedt, Curtis Holmstedt and Kelly Holmstedt; as well as other family. James H. "Jim" Holmstedt  (1950-2021)

Brian Michael Stute was born March 26, 1967, in Benkelman, Nebraska, to Arlene Kay (Pursley) and Larry Glenn Stute. 

Brian grew up in Benkelman, Nebraska, and graduated from Benkelman High School in 1985. After graduation, Brian was offered to come and play football at Pratt Community College. He completed his degree at Pratt Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Agriculture. Brian went on to further his Agricultural education by spending a semester at Chadron State College and a semester at Colby Community College. 

In 1990, Brian finally found “The One” to love him unconditionally and married Trina Kay Marlin on October 20, 1990. They married at the United Methodist Church in Benkelman, NE and the newlyweds settled North of Benkelman where they reside to this day. During high school, Brian worked for Tom Maranville “haying” and farming. After college, Brian came home to Benkelman to work for PureGro/Simplot for many years and the Fries Harvesters for over 30 years. Brian was a registered Brand Inspector for the State of Nebraska. Brian was a rancher all of his life and managed the family ranch. Brian loved his community and was an active member of the 4-H council, Jaycee-Men’s Club, Nebraska Brand Association, and the Benkelman Presbyterian Church. He was also the president of the Predator Control Association and managed in-season meetings that included members from Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and Colorado. Brian was an avid sportsman of horseshoe, cornhole, and the yummy 4-man scramble. Brian is known to have perfected the backwards drive. Brian was always very shy and always business. “Yeah Right!” Brian was infamous for telling jokes, and scaring people. If he didn’t know you, well give him about 30 seconds. Brian especially loved spending time with family and friends. His wife Trina and two boys, Cole and Seth, were the most important people to him. His concern and love for them is why he worked the way he did. Brian never met a stranger and with that he was gifted with the heart for checking on friends, family, and those that he didn’t know but heard needed help. Brian passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021, at the Chase County Hospital, Imperial, He was 54 years of age. Brian was preceded in death by his father Larry Stute and his father-in-law Harlan Marlin. Survivors Include: Mother: Arlene of Benkelman, NE. Wife: Trina of Benkelman, NE. Mother-In-Law: Sandy Marlin of Benkelman, NE. Sons: Cole Stute of Benkelman, NE. Seth Stute and fiancée Danielle Eichenberger, of Arapahoe, NE. Grandchildren: Asher (grandpup). Brother: Kurt Stute and wife Michell of Oklahoma City, OK. Nieces and nephews: Haeley, Logan, Lynsi, Job, Braylee and Steel Stute; Kayla and Matt Kling, Leslie and Kyle Steffen; and Major and Slade Marlin. Brian Michael Stute (1967-2021)

Joan Cobb, 84, of Trenton, passed away Sunday afternoon, July 18th, 2021 at Community Hospital in McCook. She&nbsp;was born April 24, 1937 in Olathe, Colorado to Dorman and Darlene (Silver) Cobb and later moved to Hitchcock County, Nebraska. She attended country grade school and graduated from Trenton High School in 1954. Joan attended McCook Junior College and graduated from Kearney State College. She taught elementary school for 42 years including several rural schools and for 33 years at Culbertson Grade School.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Royce; grandparents, James L. and Chloe B. (Persinger) Cobb and Clarence and Mary (Fleming) Silver; one niece and one nephew.

Joan is survived by her nephew, Brent Cobb of McCook, and nieces, Nancy (Randy) Nelson of Lincoln and Katherine Cobb of Mesa, Arizona; six great nieces and great nephews; a step niece and nephew; and numerous great-grand nieces and great-grand nephews and step nieces and nephews.

Cremation was chosen and a private family graveside service will take place at a later date in the Trenton Cemetery.

Joan Cobb (1937-2021)

Dean G. Andersen, age 72, of Mullen, NE, passed away on July 13, 2021, at home.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was born on October 18, 1949, in Seneca, NE to Dwayne &amp; Nadene Andersen.&nbsp; He grew up on a ranch near Seneca, NE and attended Thedford High School, graduating with the class of 1967.&nbsp;

On September 28, 1968, he entered the United States Army, serving in Vietnam as a wheel and track mechanic.&nbsp; He was Honorably Discharged on June 1, 1971.&nbsp; He joined the VFW in Seneca, on September 30, 1996.

Dean worked as a truck driver for the Burlington Railroad for 32 years.&nbsp; He retired on November 7, 2009.

He had a passion for collecting guns, and coins.&nbsp; He also enjoyed target practice, trap shooting, spending time at his family ranch, loading shells, and most of all spending time with family &amp; friends.

Dean is survived by his mother, Nadene; brothers Allen (Diane) Andersen of Thedford, Randy (Peg) Andersen of Thedford, and Darrell (Patty Rae) Andersen of Halsey; nieces and nephews, Chad (Marcy), Travis &amp; (Sheri), Shelly, Shelby, Riley (Miranda), Marci, (Travis) Terri (Joe), Kevin (Kim); friends, Donna Reynolds, Adrena Carr, Tanner Carr, Dalton Deidel, Chastity Fecht, Dawn Jessup, Dehjin Pursley and their families; and many great nieces, and nephews.

Dean was preceded in death by his father Dwayne; a brother Lowell; and a nephew Bernie Andersen.

Dean G. Andersen  (1949-2021)

Ceslie Kuklis, of Laveen, Arizona passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at her home.&nbsp; Ceslie was born July 22, 1978 in Cozad, Nebraska to Jerry and Cindy Kuklis.&nbsp; 

She graduated from Cozad High School and was elected homecoming queen by her peers her senior year.&nbsp; Ceslie went on to graduate from Doane College in Crete, Nebraska, receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Education.&nbsp; She went on to further her education by obtaining a Master’s of Education in Curriculum and Instruction in 2004 from Doane in addition to a second Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University in 2018.&nbsp; 

Ceslie impacted countless students throughout her teaching career.&nbsp; Her most recent position was ESS Facilitator at the Academies at South Mountain. She was the Facilitator there for 6 years, where she embraced her love for working with students with all types of disabilities. She gave 100% to her job and made sure that her Special Education Department ran smoothly.&nbsp; 

Ceslie particularly enjoyed spending time throwing the ball for her labradoodle, Navi.&nbsp; She was passionate about coaching volleyball, everything Huskers, swimming at the gym, and never turned down a Bath and Body Works sale.&nbsp; She was involved in her community through participation in walks for cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, and bringing awareness to autism.&nbsp; Ceslie was known by her family as a master holiday baker and someone that could light up a room with her smile.

Ceslie’s final message to her family and friends included the following: “words matter, actions matter - the sticks and stones may break bones, but words will never hurt – it’s not true. Words do hurt, so please, please be kind to anyone who crosses your path – you really never know what someone has been through – kindness matters –&nbsp;ESPECIALLY&nbsp;to the little ones. …. Please do your best not to be sad/mad for long.&nbsp; I had a pretty good life and with any luck made a positive difference in at least one life along the way.&nbsp; Think about the good times, the laughs, the hugs – that’s what life is about.&nbsp; Lean on those who love you.”

Ceslie was preceded in death by her mother Cindy Kuklis, father Jerry Kuklis, grandparents Joseph and Sylvia Kuklis, Alice (Milford) France, and Dale Jack; uncles David Barela and Patrick Jack; and aunts Cecilia Williams and Cheryl Jack.&nbsp;

 </figure>Wilton “Willie” Padgett, 86, of North Platte, passed away July 16, 2021 at Linden Court. He was born on March 9, 1935 to Henry and Juanita (Starling) Padgett in Chiefland, Florida.Willie graduated from Westminster High School in Denver with the class of 1953. He entered the United States Marines on December 29, 1953 and served stateside. After his discharge in 1956, Willie went back to Denver. He married Vauni Powell and to this union three children were born, Frederick, Darrin, and Lynette Padgett.On March 2, 1979 Willie married Margaret (Greivel) Parker at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Julesburg, Colorado. The couple lived in Ogallala and Willie worked as meat market manager at Safeway in Ogallala. He worked at Hatch’s Super Food in Grant and retired in 2016. They moved to North Platte in 2017.Willie liked to golf and was passionate about his yard and animals, especially his dogs. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed motorcycles and waved and talked to everyone, never knowing a stranger.Survivors include wife Margaret of North Platte; children, Darrin A. (Tammy) Padgett of Ogallala, Lynette Fowler of Ogallala, James J. Thomas James “T.J.” Thiem, 82, of North Platte, passed away July 16, 2021 at his home. He was born on January 1, 1939 to Leonard James and Martha Christine (Henderson) Thiem in Falls City, NE.

T.J. grew up in Kearney and graduated from Kearney High School with the class of 1957. He married Linda Denman in Kearney. To this union four children were born, Mike, Troy, Lori and Mindy. T.J. worked at Sunglow Dairy in McCook and then went to work for R.J. Reynolds and moved to North Platte in 1962. He retired in 1996 at the age of 57 spending time with family and friends.

T.J. married Jaquie Aylor and the couple lived in North Platte. He enjoyed travelling, camping, and riding motorcycles. He was a very supportive father and will be remembered for the fun times at the Lake Maloney Ski Club.

Survivors include four children, Mike Thiem of North Platte, Troy (Marilea) Thiem of Crete, Lori Krause of Clearlake, IA, Mindy (Brian) Kramper of South Sioux City, NE; nine grandchildren, Mathew Thiem, Jennifer Thiem, Tahner (Traci) Thiem, Takota (Chelsea) Thiem, McKehna Thiem, Kevin Orr, Shayla (Christian) Trebel, Chad Bauerly, Danielle Bauerly; eight great grandchildren; sister, Barb Mowery of Kearney; many other family members and friends.

Lyle Burton, age 82 of Hyannis, NE died Saturday July 10, 2021, at the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, NE.

Lyle Roy Burton went to be with the Lord on July 10, 2021, following an accident in an off-road vehicle.&nbsp; He was born September 19, 1938, in Dixon, Wyoming, the youngest child of Clyde and Fern Marie (Wright) Burton.&nbsp; Lyle lived on his parent’s homestead on Battle Mountain located near Savery, Wyoming.&nbsp; He attended school in Dixon, Wyoming through 1st&nbsp;grade.&nbsp; His parents returned to the Hyannis, Nebraska area where he attended school and graduated in 1956 from Hyannis High School.

On May 19, 1959, Lyle married Judy (Judith Jane Ferguson).&nbsp; They celebrated 51 years of marriage.&nbsp; Initially they lived in California, but after a brief time they returned to the area they considered home, the panhandle of Nebraska.&nbsp;

Lyle primarily worked as a carpenter most of his adult life.&nbsp; In 1966, he went to work for Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. Alliance, Nebraska.&nbsp; In 1970, the family moved to Hyannis, Nebraska where he operated his carpentry business.&nbsp; Lyle and Judy purchased the Hyannis Ranch Supply in 1974 and operated it until 2004.

He enjoyed vacations in the camper while touring new areas.&nbsp; Favorite destinations were in the states of Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Arizona, and Washington.&nbsp;

Lyle cared greatly for this community and was glad to help whenever he could.&nbsp; Currently he was serving on the Grant County Medical Clinic board.&nbsp; He was a charter member of the Lion’s club and worked tirelessly on the community betterment projects they undertook.&nbsp; He served several years on the Hyannis Cemetery Board and a few terms on the Hyannis Village Board. &nbsp;He assisted the Hyannis High School Alumni Association and the Windmill Country Committee.&nbsp; In addition, he had been a charter member of the Hyannis Eagles club.&nbsp; Lyle and Judy were Grand Marshals of the Grant County Fair Parade in 2009.&nbsp; Lyle attended the Church of the Sandhills.

He loved sports.&nbsp; He was an avid Husker fan.&nbsp; He also participated in many sports over the years.&nbsp; They included football, basketball, track, baseball, softball, hunting, fishing, and golf.&nbsp; He had hoped to enter the cancer benefit golf tournament later this summer.&nbsp;

Lyle is preceded in death by his wife Judy; an infant son; his parents; his brother Lloyd Burton; and sisters Lucille Hayward, Leta VanMatre, and Lila Haines.

He is survived by son Kevin (Karla); grandchildren David (Katy) and Jessica (Jacob); his prized great grandchildren Reed, Remi, and Lila; sister Lola Buckner (Bruce); and extended family Kristi Stumpff (Robbie), Jacobi, and Jace.&nbsp; He is also survived by several in-laws, nieces, and nephews that he cared deeply for.

Born on March 18, 1958, in Ogallala, NE, he was the son of Samuel Alexander and Leona Rose (Brant) Gill. He was the oldest of four children: twin sister Julie, Kathy, and Samuel. He grew up in Big Springs, NE, and graduated high school in 1976. During his high school years, he played football and took part in one act plays. Twenty-eight years ago, Vince met the love of his life and best friend, Patricia. They were married on April 3, 1993 in Big Springs, NE. Vince drove a transport truck for Bosselman’s for 26 years, then worked at Thrivent. In 2005, Vince began working for the Union Pacific Railroad as a conductor and the couple eventually moved to North Platte in 2009 so he could be closer to work.

There are so many great memories about Vince that will always be cherished. He loved to ride his motorcycle, loved his dog Bella and taking her to the dog park and the lake. He was a hard worker, a handyman, enjoyed woodworking, enjoyed helping Pat with her crafts and taught her many things. Whatever he happened to be doing, he was always listening to music, anything from Ozzy Osborn to classical. Vince was always willing to help and listen to others. He loved his family deeply, especially his children and grandchildren, offering guidance to them and providing them with unconditional love. He taught them many things, including how to play chess. Overall, Vince was a great listener and was always there when anyone needed someone to talk to. He was a voice of reason and always a friend. Vince could make you laugh no matter what. He was a believer in the Lord and a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. The Christmas Eve service was favorited by Vince.

Vince is survived by his wife, Patricia Gill; children, Bryan Gill, Danielle Klein, Kari (Pat) Wood and Tiffany (Justin) Shavlik; grandchildren, Ty and Bailey Wood, Aidan, Porter, and Ivy Shavlik, Carter, Blake, Taylor, and Kendall Klein, and Nyah McNeal; mother, Leona Gill; sisters, Julie (Scott) Ingram, Kathy (Stan) Haag; brother, Samuel (Janet) Gill; along with many other family members and friends.

Preceding him is death was his father, Samuel Gill.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in North Platte, NE with Pastor Bob Deardoff officiating. Book signing will be 9:00am – 5:00pm Monday, July 19, 2021 at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte.

Vincent Joe Gill  (1958-2021)

Gene Nielsen, age 93, lifelong Keith County rancher passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at the Perkins County Hospital in Grant, Nebraska.&nbsp; He was born on June 25, 1928 in Ogallala, Nebraska to Maring &amp; Theresa (Feltz) Nielsen.&nbsp; He grew up on the ranch east of Ogallala, Nebraska, which has been in the family for over 100 years.&nbsp; He graduated from Ogallala High School in 1946.&nbsp; He married his high school sweetheart, Elaine McKeag on June 1, 1950.&nbsp; The couple made their home on the ranch and had six children together.&nbsp; Gene was an active member of St. Luke's Catholic Church and served as a parish trustee.&nbsp; An avid reader and library patron, he also served on the board of trustees of the local public library.

He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, strong faith, kind heart, skill with livestock and machinery, and lively intelligence.

He is survived by three daughters, Melody (Kelly) McGowan of Columbus, Nebaska; Kirsten Macdissi of Fort Calhoun, Nebraska, and Elise (Kevin) Lockhart of Ogallala, Nebraska; two sons, Martin (Jackie) of Loveland, Colorado and Matt (Laura) of Ogallala, Nebraska; 12 grandchildren James (Stephanie) McGowan of Omaha, Nebraska, Anthony (Melissa) McGowan of Omaha, Nebraska, Nicholas (Christie) Nielsen of Erie, Colorado, Monica (John) Doherty of Fort Collins, Colorado, Erica (Robert) DiRocco of Houston, Texas, Lucas Nielsen (Becky Adair) of Ogallala, Nebraska, Jenny Nielsen of Ogallala, Nebraska, Adam (Kristen) Macdissi of Omaha, Nebraska, Anthony (Sarah) Macdissi of Omaha, Nebraska, Elena (Joshua) Barker of Roca, Nebraska, Theresa (Alex) Knobbe of Omaha, Nebraska and&nbsp; Phoebe Lockhart (Aaron Collins) of Boston, Massachusetts; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Gail Anderson of Tensleep, Wyoming and Mary Ann Anderberg of Arthur, Nebraska; brother-in-law Delbert (Carolyn) McKeag of Ogallala, Nebraska; and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine; an infant son, John; an infant sister, Mary; and son-in-law, Tom Macdissi.

A memorial has been established t St. Luke's School. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. MST at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Ogallala, Nebraska with Fr. Bryan Ernest as Celebrant. Interment will be in the Ogallala Cemetery. Memorial book signing will be on Monday from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. MST at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Ogallala, Nebraska. Rosary will be recited on Monday at 6 p.m. MST at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Ogallala.

Lois Hoaglund (1932-2021)

Ole S. Chesley, 97, of Callaway, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at the Good Life Center in Callaway.

He was born December 3, 1923, in Callaway, Nebraska to Harry B. and Anna M. (Seyerson) Chesley. Ole was born and raised in the log home built by his grandfather, Paul Seyerson. He attended Triumph School, a two-room schoolhouse that took students through 10th grade. His last two years of school were in Callaway, graduating with the class of 1940. He then went on to further his education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, but after a semester was called home to help on the farm on a farm deferment. Ole also spent two years teaching school at Hillside District 215 during that time.

Ole was united in marriage to Donna Shaw on October 1, 1946 at the Fidelity EUB Church near Callaway, Nebraska. Four children were blessed to this union: Roger, Steven, Carol and Lane.

After their marriage, they lived in Gunnison for a two years where they purchased 80 acres of land and ran a dairy farm. They then moved back near Arnold, Nebraska on Garfield Table before moving to their home on the South Loup river between Arnold and Callaway. Their home there was a work in progress, where Ole perfected his carpentry skills in the winter months when there were no crops. They would reside there until 1995, when Lane built them a house in town. In 2018, they moved to Meadowlark Pointe Assisted Living in Cozad where Donna passed away in 2018, and Ole would live until his final two months back in Callaway.

Ole was very active in the Callaway community. He was a school board member for many years, Lion’s Club member, Extension Board member of Custer County and also on the Custer County Feeder’s and Breeder’s.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Ole farmed and ranched, had a dairy herd and even helped drive the school bus. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, reading and bird watching. Ole was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Callaway. He served on various committees in the church and at the district and conference levels. Also served as a lay preacher. His faith, family and church were the core of his life. Above all, Ole has left a tremendous legacy of love and faith to his family.

Survivors include his children, Roger (Marion) Chesley of Callaway, Carol (Tim) Boyle of Elwood, and Lane (Melanie) Chesley of Callaway; daughter-in-law, Mary Kay Chesley of Rifle, Colorado; nine grandchildren, Kari Chesley, Leif Chesley, Tara (Todd) Preston, Brett Chesley, Megan (Lee) Dreyer, Ryan (Madeline) Boyle, Caitlin (Matt) Smith, Meredith (Jaycob) O’Hanlon and Dylan Chelsey; eight great-grandchildren with another one due in September; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Ole was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna; son, Steve; granddaughter, Stefanie Kay; two sisters, Rhoda Chaloupka and Cora Longmore; brother, Elgin Chesley; half-brother, Orville Chesley; half-sister, Evelyn Longmore; brother-in-law, Donald Shaw and sisters-in-law, Mildred Wright, Doris Chesley and Norma Cole.

A Celebration of Life Service will be on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Callaway United Methodist Church with Pastor Shanon Williams, officiating. The service will be livestreamed via the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home Facebook page.
