Janice Elaine (Koetter) O’Grady, age 86, of McCook, NE passed away surrounded by her loving family at home on May 24, 2021.

Janice was born in McCook on October 12, 1934 to W.R. (Smitty) and Leola Maxine Koetter, who died of scarlet fever at age 25.&nbsp; On December 20, 1941, following Leola’s death, Smitty remarried Emma W. (Springer) Koetter in Oberlin, KS.&nbsp;

Janice graduated from McCook high in 1952. &nbsp;She married Howard Harrison on July 2, 1953 at the Danbury Union church. To this union 3 children were born:&nbsp; Patricia JoAnn, Richard Wayne, and Robert Lynn.

Howard worked as an electrician foreman at the UPRR, so the family moved frequently.&nbsp; While the kids were growing up, Janice was a stay-at-home mom until her children were out of school. In 1974, Janice attended LPN school at Voch-Tech Community College in North Platte, NE. She graduated with honors and was the outstanding student of the year in 1975. She worked for both hospitals in North Platte and for Dr. Getty. She later moved back to McCook and worked at the Community Hospital and for Dr. Dickinson.

In September of 1980, Janice married Norman O’Grady. Norman was a South Dakota rancher so she moved to South Dakota and enjoyed life on the ranch where she shared in the day to day jobs. Norman and Janice retired in 2002 and moved back to McCook in 2003.&nbsp; While in South Dakota, Jan joined the Catholic Church and was a very active parishioner in their small country church. Her faith was very important to her.&nbsp; Norman was a very loving husband and no words can express how important Norman was in Janice’s life and her kid’s lives. Until the very end he did everything for Mom. When Janice took ill in early 2018, Norman did all the housework, all the cooking, and yard work. One of his main accomplishments was to help her with her dialysis so that she could stay at home, which was not an easy task. He will never know how much his kids appreciated all the loving attention he gave her.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to all her doctors, hospice and home health nurses. A very special thanks to Shastyn Kool,RN from DaVita who showed remarkable love and care for our mother. She showed that being a nurse was much more then just a job. Their love and care never went unnoticed.

Janice is proceeded in death by her by her mother, Leola Maxine; father, W.R. (Smitty) Koetter; stepmother, Emma Koetter; husband, Howard Harrison; son, Richard Harrison; brothers, Raymond, Kenard and Randy Koetter; sister, Joan Schamel and brother-in-law Don Schamel; step son, Doug O’Grady; and brothers-in-law, William, Jimmy and Michael (Mick) O’Grady.

Janice is survived by her husband of 40 yrs, Norman O’Grady; children, Patricia (Mack) McConahay of North Platte, Nebraska, Robert (Diane) Harrison of McCook, Nebraska and Roger (Ellen) O’Grady of Sturgis, South Dakota; brother, Martin (Smitty) (Diane) Koetter of Downs, Kansas; sister in law, Lisa Koetter of Ellinwood, Kansas; grandsons, Tyler (Marie) McConahay of Gretna, Nebraska, Ryan (Emily) McConahay of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Eric Miller of Colorado; granddaughters, Penny (Mike) Adkisson, and Jennifer (Ariel) Quiroga all of North Platte; 12 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation with family present to greet friends will be on Friday, May 28, 2021 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook, NE.

Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 following the visitation at 7:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Susie Flock, age 67, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away on May 25, 2021 in Lexington, Nebraska.&nbsp; She was born on August 17, 1953 at St. Mary's Hospital in North Platte to A. Jean (Perry) and Goethe I. Flock.&nbsp; Her given name was Susan Rae Flock, but she preferred Susie as her name. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Susie graduated from North Platte High School in 1971.&nbsp; She attended North Platte Jr. College, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and graduate classes at Kearney State College.&nbsp; Her major was English language.&nbsp; she was a life alumni member of UNL and a member of Kappa Phi, a Christian Women's organization.&nbsp; Susie's working years were aiding and substitute teaching in&nbsp; North Platte Public Schools and aiding at Miller School southwest of North Platte.&nbsp; She also provided private tutoring.&nbsp; Due to health reasons, Susie and her parents enjoyed spending winters in Arizona.&nbsp; May friends were made at Valle Del Oro RV Resort in Mesa, AZ.&nbsp; Susie helped keep Creative Writing going and took lessons in Spectral Art.&nbsp; Some of her family now have charcoal and pastel pictures that Susie made. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Susie is preceded in death by her parents, Goethe &amp; Jean Flock; a stillborn sister, Nancy Jo; grandparents Meta (Link) and Ira Flock and Aemilia (Brahler) and John Perry; aunts &amp; uncles, Cheslie &amp; Jessie Flock, Lillie &amp; Lorence Flock, Leo &amp; Veda Greenwood, Bob Perry, and Sylvia &amp; Jack Perry; cousins, James Greenwood, Rosemary &amp; Darrell Pueppeka, Stephen Pueppeka and Bill Perry. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Survivors include Bob and Alma Flock, Nancy Flock, Larry Pueppeka and Cheri Pueppeka, Aunt Sarah Perry, Liz (Perry) and Steve Pringle, Jim and Sher (Swanda) Perry, Cheryl (Perry) Acree, Linda (Perry) and Jim Clark, and their children and grandchildren. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Susie wrote her own obituary. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;At Susie's request a private burial will be held Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at North Platte Cemetery with Rev. Thomas L. Schilz  (1956-2021)

Eldon Dean Wheeler, age 88, of Lexington, Nebraska died peacefully Monday, May 22, 2021 at the home of Tim and Dianna Wheeler in Neligh, Nebraska with all three of his sons at his side.

Dean was born November 25, 1932 in Sumner, Nebraska to Leroy &amp; Elsie Wheeler. The family moved to Lexington, Nebraska in 1945. He attended the Lexington Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1951.

On May 2, 1952, Dean married the love of his life, Shirley Cunningham. They were blessed with three boys: Steve, Michael, and Timothy. Together they loved to go camping, traveled to South Padre Island numerous times and enjoyed going to Colorado to visit relatives. They were members of the dance club and card club; having a circle of friends that would last a lifetime.

Dean and his wife Shirley owned and operated the Lexington Glass Co. for over 40 years.

Dean joined the Lexington Fire Dept. March 10, 1960 and was a dedicated servant to the city of Lexington for 60 years. He was instrumental in starting and serving on the rescue dive team, was nominated as fireman of the year twice, and held numerous offices within the department.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars having served from 4/9/53 to 4/1/55, and proudly served as a medic during the Korean war. Dean was also a long-time member of the Eagles Club.

After retirement Dean was chosen as one of the veterans to take the Honor Flight to Washington DC, which he was honored to be a part of.

Dean loved his boys and when the grandkids came along his heart got even bigger. His love for the grandkids and great grandchildren was as wide and deep as the Grand Canyon.

Survivors include his sons, Steven Wheeler of Lexington, Nebraska; Michael (Terri) Wheeler of Lincoln, Nebraska and their children, Sara (Matt) Conahan, and great-grandchildren, Chloe and Carter, Dr Austin (Madison) Wheeler, and great-grandchildren, Ellis and Molly; Tim (Dianna) Wheeler of Neligh, Nebraska and their children, Christopher (Blake Gilmore) Wheeler, and Stephanie (Ben) Zegers, and great-grandchildren, Tyson (Whitney) Zegers, Chase and Skylar Thomas, and Coralie Zegers.

Also surviving are brother Don (Ilse) Wheeler of Parker CO, Sister Ina (Melvin) Buckley of Gothenburg, NE, sister-in -law Cindy Wheeler of Lincoln, NE; brother-in-law Larry Schade of Kearney, NE; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Duane and Diann Schmitz of Arvada CO, and Eugene and Cheryl Cunningham of North Glenn CO.

Dean was preceded in death by his wife Shirley; parents Leroy and Elsie Wheeler; brothers, Daryl, Eugene, and David Wheeler; and sisters-in-law, Carol Williams, and Jean Schade.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 28, 2021 from 7-9 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, NE. The casket will be closed.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, NE with Pastor Rex Adams, officiating. The service will be live streamed on the Reynolds Love Facebook Page.

Interment with military honors will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, north of Lexington, Nebraska.

Eldon Dean Wheeler  (1932-2021)

On October 21, 2020, the Sughroue Family lost a loving father, husband, uncle, cousin, and friend following a hospital stay at Tri Valley Health System in Cambridge, Nebraska as a result of Covid-19.

Thomas Daniel Sughroue, age 82, the youngest child of Frank &amp; Johanna (Schutte) Sughroue, came into the world on April 30, 1938 in their home near Indianola, Nebraska.&nbsp; Tom received his education and graduated from Indianola High School.&nbsp; He was a member of the United States Army Reserve from 1956-1964.&nbsp; Tom received two years of further education at McCook Community College.&nbsp; He spend most of his working career in construction, eventually with his own business, Sughroue Construction Company.

Tom was easy to recognize in his overalls &amp; flannel, work boots &amp; cap.&nbsp; Always ready with a humorous quip, his presence was met with a smile and laughter.&nbsp; His hands were his craft and his precision his art; capable of transforming a piece of wood into a beautiful masterpiece.&nbsp; He loved the outdoors whether hunting, fishing, working, or just quietly watching the natural wonder of life unfold around him.&nbsp; He held a special love for the purple martins who made their migratory stop at the little hotel park he created for them.

Tom is survived by his loving his wife and partner of many years, Mary Ann Vrbas of Culbertson, Nebraska; his children: Michelle (Kent) Wurm of Shawnee, Kansas; Crystal Sughroue of Hastings, Nebraska, Stephaine (Bill) Haag of Danbury, Nebraska, Tom (Kim) Sughroue of Indianola, Nebraska, and Josh (Jessica) Vrbas of McCook, Nebraska; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Nellie Ryan of Indianola, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Jean (surviving wife of Don) and Marge (surviving wife of Charles); former wife, Sharon Deon; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is welcomed into the loving embrace of his mom (Johanna) and dad (Frank); his brothers, Gerald (Ann), Charles (Rita), Don, Jim (Leah); his sisters, Francis (Clayton Green, Joe Allen) and Mary Lyons (Dale); and his brother-in-law, Jim Ryan (husband of Nellie); as they share eternal afterlife together.&nbsp; I can hear the laughter now.

Graveside memorial services with military honors will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 28, 2021 at St. Catherine Catholic Cemetery in Indianola, Nebraska with Jim Jones providing words of comfort.&nbsp;&nbsp;

 </figure>On October 21, 2020, the Sughroue Family lost a loving father, husband, uncle, cousin, and friend following a hospital stay at Tri Valley Health System in Cambridge, Nebraska as a result of Covid-19.Thomas Daniel Sughroue, age 82, the youngest child of Frank &amp; Johanna (Schutte) Sughroue, came into the world on April 30, 1938 in their home near Indianola, Nebraska.&nbsp; Tom received his education and graduated from Indianola High School.&nbsp; He was a member of the United States Army Reserve from 1956-1964.&nbsp; Tom received two years of further education at McCook Community College.&nbsp; He spend most of his working career in construction, eventually with his own business, Sughroue Construction Company.Tom was easy to recognize in his overalls &amp; flannel, work boots &amp; cap.&nbsp; Always ready with a humorous quip, his presence was met with a smile and laughter.&nbsp; His hands were his craft and his precision his art; capable of transforming a piece of wood into a beautiful masterpiece.&nbsp; He loved the outdoors whether hunting, fishing, working, or just quietly watching the natural wonder of life unfold around him.&nbsp; He held a special love for the purple martins who made their migratory stop at the little hotel park he created for them.Tom is survived by his loving his wife and partner of many years, Mary Ann Vrbas of Culbertson, Nebraska; his children: Michelle (Kent) Wurm of Shawnee, Kansas; Crystal Sughroue of Hastings, Nebraska, Stephaine (Bill) Haag of Danbury, Nebraska, Tom (Kim) Sughroue of Indianola, Nebraska, and Josh (Jessica) Vrbas of McCook, Nebraska; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Nellie Ryan of Indianola, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Jean (surviving wife of Don) and Marge (surviving wife of Charles); former wife, Sharon Deon; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.He is welcomed into the loving embrace of his mom (Johanna) and dad (Frank); his brothers, Gerald (Ann), Charles (Rita), Don, Jim (Leah); his sisters, Francis (Clayton Green, Joe Allen) and Mary Lyons (Dale); and his brother-in-law, Jim Ryan (husband of Nellie); as they share eternal afterlife together.&nbsp; I can hear the laughter now.Graveside memorial services with military honors will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 28, 2021 at St. Catherine Catholic Cemetery in Indianola, Nebraska with Jim Jones providing words of comfort.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Memorials may be left to the family of Thomas Sughroue for future designation.&nbsp; Online condolences may be left at herrmannfh.com.&nbsp; Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.

Harold L. Perkins, age 89, of Benkelman, NE passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at the Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman.

Harold was born May 30, 1931 in Denver, CO to parents James and Lola (Sharpe) Perkins.&nbsp; He was one of ten siblings who grew up in Colorado, attending school and graduating from Bennett High School in Bennett, CO.

In 1952, Harold married Donna Lee (Mickelson) Perkins in Parker, CO. The couple was blessed with three children.&nbsp; Over the years, Harold worked as a mechanic and a truckdriver, and in his spare time he enjoyed woodworking. &nbsp;Harold moved to the Max, NE area in 1999 where he was a member of the Methodist Church.&nbsp;

Harold was preceded in death by his wife of 10 years &amp; 14 days, Donna Perkins; his parents; three brothers; two sisters; and a grandson, Jason.

Those left to celebrate his life include sons, Wayne Perkins of Max, NE and Kenny Perkins of Stratton, NE; daughter, Deb (Barry) Fendell of Aurora, CO; brothers, Glen Perkins of Greeley, CO and James Perkins of Cope, CO; sisters, Anna Bothwell of Greeley, CO and Lola Boor of Wisconsin; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a host of extended family members.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Max Community Center in Max, NE.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Melvin Chestnutt, age 92, of Ogallala, Nebraska passed away on May 24, 2021 at the Sutherland Care Center in Sutherland, Nebraska.&nbsp; He was born on March 9, 1929 to Rueben A. and Mary A. (Mitchell) Chestnutt at Glade, Kansas.&nbsp; He attended schools in Phillips County, Kansas, graduating from Phillipsburg High School in Phillipsburg, Kansas. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Melvin enlisted in the Army during the Korean War and served in the Infantry School Detachment.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;On January 8, 1954 he married Marian Forell.&nbsp; To this union six children were born:&nbsp; Yvonne (Cindy), Rocklynn, Tamara, Eldon, Steve and Brenda.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Melvin worked on several ranches in the Nebraska Sandhills prior to moving to Ogallala, Nebraska.&nbsp; After moving to Ogallala, he worked for the Phillips 66 Pony Express Station, Armour Sand &amp; Gravel, and as a custodian at the Ogallala Auditorium, retiring in 1994. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Melvin is survived by four daughters, Yvonne L. Long (Mark) of Martinsville, Illinois, Rocklynn E. Chappell of El Campo, Texas, Tamara K. Haggard (Michael) of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Brenda L. Melvin Chestnutt  (1929-2021)

&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;James K. Bain, "Jim", was born on August 4, 1936 in Grand Island, Nebraska, and when still young, moved to Cozad, Nebraska.&nbsp; Jim started working as a young man as he talked about memories of unloading freight and grains from train cars as his first job helpiing the older boys and other men.&nbsp; He talked about hanging with the older group of kids because he was more their size as a young man.&nbsp; He enjoyed the Navy and was discharged in 1957. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;In 1956, he married Kay McGuire and they moved from California to Kearney, Nebraska to raise a family.&nbsp; Kay &amp; Jim had 6 children and raised them in Kearney until 1973 when they moved to North Platte, Nebraska.&nbsp; While in Kearney, Jim worked with eye glasses with Rite Style Optical and then went to work in investments and development assisting with the planning, development and the construction of apartments &amp; duplexes. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;The move to North Platte was to join a partnership with Gene Wiemers and that is when Wiemers &amp; Bain Daisy Chain Real Estate and Insurance began.&nbsp; That lasted about two years and Jim was done with the selling of real estate and insurance and appraisal profession and Jim Bain Appraisal began.&nbsp; The profession and this part of the real estate industry was new to Jim and schooling started again.&nbsp; Jim said his first appraisal was one page and and he enjoyed the profession as he watched the appraisal industry change and progress over the next 40+ years as he was learning and mastering the profession and all the changes along the way.&nbsp; Times were tough for a while in the beginning as the rates were high and the market stagnant with some trial and errors in investments and other ways to make a living.&nbsp; The market always did change and things came around and Jim stayed with it through thick and thin with Kay along his side as he built the business and raised his family.&nbsp; Jim incorporated the business in 1992 when his son, Jeff, started training under Jim as an appraiser trainee that year.&nbsp; Jim, Kay &amp; Jeff continued on and built the business to what it is today. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Jim was an avid golfer until a major back surgery slowed that down.&nbsp; He was active in the community being involved and a member of the Board of Realtors, receiving his Ameritas Award for 40 years of membership in 2015, and he was on the Planning Commission from July 2011 until the time of his death. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Kay passed away in 2010 and Jim married Michelle (Woltemath) Bain on February 17, 2014 and they were married until his death.&nbsp; They enjoyed their time as they both have a passion for playing cards and hitting the casinos. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Jim Bain was a good man.&nbsp; He was Nebraska born &amp; raised in Cozad, Kearney, and North Platte mainly. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Jim was the youngest of 3 kids and had 2 older sisters.&nbsp; He lost his dad at a young age, so he was quite independent. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Jim was in the Navy, then on to family life, marrying at age 19, and six kids by age 30.&nbsp; Most of his adult life was spent as a family man, raising those kids and trying to keep the chaos in check with one girl and 5 boys in the house.&nbsp; He converted to Catholicism when he married Kay and somehow they got the entire family to mass almost every Sunday - this was quite a feat with those five boys, but that was an example of the stability that he provided the family. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Jim always had a positive attitude.&nbsp; He had a great sense of humor and he was definitely a 'glass half full' guy and was loyal to everyone he ever met with honesty and ethics in all he did.&nbsp; In his business he once said "if you find someone to lie for you, they will also lie to you."&nbsp; He was dependable, if he said he was going to do it, you could depend on him to do it.&nbsp; Jim was a straight shooter - he would always tell you like it was - he was a no BS kind of guy - he would say what he meant, and he meant it.&nbsp; He was a family man.&nbsp; He spent the majority of his life married and raising 6 children and instilling in his kids a strong sense of what family means, working hard to provide and protect them, and sometimes making hard decisions for the betterment of the family.&nbsp; He was always willing to help any of his kids, and later grandkids, along the bumps in their roads as they came along.&nbsp; He bailed his kids out of more than one crisis, that is for sure.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He loved is when all the family could get together, which as time passed, as lives get busy, was more difficult, but when they got together, they always passed the blessing cup at dinner with a prayer and blessing for whatever occasion it was.&nbsp; More than once, you would see a tear in his eye at these moments.&nbsp; He taught his family how precious these times were.&nbsp; He was a generous man, very giving to all people, not only family, but friends...anything they needed, whether is was a favor, advice, a ride somewhere, a meal, money....if he could, he would give it.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;His work ethic has become known as "The Bain Work Ethic."&nbsp; He believed in hard work, and had no tolerance for laziness.&nbsp; He worked up until just before he died.&nbsp; Don't sweat the small stuff - he knew what was important and what not to waste time worrying about.&nbsp; He lived life to the fullest for sure.&nbsp; He kept busy.&nbsp; In addition to working, he had fun.&nbsp; After all the kids were all grown, he was busy almost every night of the week with his hobbies of playing pool, cards, or hanging out with family and did not miss an opportunity for adventure.&nbsp; Even with young kids growing up, his kids will tell many tales of vacations and road trips to Mount Rushmore, Disneyland, camping adventures and trips to see relatives and friends. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Jim had the strength of a bear and the softness of a teddy bear.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Strong - no matter what happened, it could be handled.&nbsp; It may be hard, but they could handle it together.&nbsp; Even really hard things in life like losing a child.&nbsp; He buired 3 kids and lost a wife of 54 years.&nbsp; They all knew that as a family, they would get through it and they did. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;James Keith "Jim" Bain, age 84, died December 22, 2020 at Great Plains Health in North Platte, Nebraska.&nbsp; And now as his is put to rest, his family will use what he taught them and get through this, too, together as a family. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He was preceded in death by his parents, Minnie &amp; Estel; two sisters, Virginia Binderup and Betty Shaw; his first wife, Kay Bain; and three sons, Kelly, Kris and Paul. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He is survived by his wife, Michelle; his three remaining children, Kim (Matt) Joy, Pat Bain, and Jeff (Brenda) Baind; grandchildren Erin (Naomi) Bain, Tammy Bain, Tim Bain, Brooklynne (Mike Drahota) Rosado, Brittany Rosado, Rory Bain, Taylor Bain, Chelsea (Steve) Reigies; step grandchildren Adam (Melissa) McMurtry, and Sharon, Christina, Michelle, and Kalob; four great grandchild Ariah, Paige, Kelly, and Hannah. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 noon on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in North Platte, Nebraska with the Reverend Vidya Sagar as celebrant.&nbsp; He lived life to the fullest for sure.&nbsp; He kept busy.&nbsp; In addition to working, he had fun.&nbsp; After all the kids were all grown, he was busy almost every night of the week with his hobbies of playing pool, cards, or hanging out with family and did not miss an opportunity for adventure.&nbsp; Even with young kids growing up, his kids will tell many tales of vacations and road trips to Mount Rushmore, Disneyland, camping adventures and trips to see relatives and friends. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Jim had the strength of a bear and the softness of a teddy bear.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Strong - no matter what happened, it could be handled.&nbsp; It may be hard, but they could handle it together.&nbsp; Even really hard things in life like losing a child.&nbsp; He buired 3 kids and lost a wife of 54 years.&nbsp; They all knew that as a family, they would get through it and they did. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;James Keith "Jim" Bain, age 84, died December 22, 2020 at Great Plains Health in North Platte, Nebraska.&nbsp; And now as his is put to rest, his family will use what he taught them and get through this, too, together as a family. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He was preceded in death by his parents, Minnie &amp; Estel; two sisters, Virginia Binderup and Betty Shaw; his first wife, Kay Bain; and three sons, Kelly, Kris and Paul. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He is survived by his wife, Michelle; his three remaining children, Kim (Matt) Joy, Pat Bain, and Jeff (Brenda) Baind; Rick Bickford  (1954-2021)

On October 25, 2020, Donald Eugene Adams passed away in Chadron, Nebraska with his daughter at his side. He was 88 years old.

Don was born April 15, 1932, to John and Barbara (Edwards) Adams and was the youngest of two sons. Don grew up on a ranch south of Cody, Nebraska and graduated from Cody High School in 1950. After graduation, Don enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country proudly for four years. Upon returning to Cody after his service, Don became the postmaster and held that post until May 1987 when he retired. In retirement, Don managed to stay busy. He ran the Legion Club in Cody for ten years and also delivered mail on a route north of Cody for another 10 years. In both jobs, Don was able to continue to enjoy the fellowship of anyone who he crossed paths with. He was also a very proud and active member of the American Legion Post 319 for 70 years.

While living in Cody, Don met Lois Layh from Gregory, South Dakota and they fell in love. They were married on August 30, 1958 and were blessed with two children, John and Mardi. Don and Lois were proud members of the Cody community their entire marriage life until 2015.&nbsp; They then moved to Prairie Pines Lodge in Chadron, Nebraska due to health reasons.&nbsp;

Don’s life was full. He enjoyed hunting for arrowheads, collecting coins, decorating his house at Christmas time, and fishing. There was not a lake in the Sandhills that Don did not know where to find the “big ones'' and enjoyed taking his grandchildren and whoever else wanted to go. Later in life, you could not have a conversation with Don without him making a trip out to his car to grab the pictures of his latest fishing haul and a copy of the story of the time when he and Jerry Walz tipped the boat over and he had to be fished out by the Ravenscrofts/Adamsons who happened to be moving cattle along the lake and heard his yelling.

Don was a great storyteller and he did not know a stranger. Beyond any of his hobbies, the things Don truly enjoyed throughout his life were spending time with his family and being a part of the community of Cody, which to him were one in the same. Although he only had four grandchildren of his own, Don viewed every kid who participated in Cody-Kilgore athletics as family and he beamed anytime he was able to witness one of their successes. In his final days, Don was most concerned about the Cowboys football playoff run and their chances of winning every week.

Don is preceded in death and is now reunited with his wife, Lois; his parents, John and Barbara; and his brother, Jack and sister-in-law, Betty.&nbsp;

Don is survived by his son John and wife Collette Adams of Melbourne, Florida, his daughter Mardi and husband Russ of Cody, Nebraska; his four grandchildren, Ashley (Ryan) Bailey, Carmen (Jake) Brown, Alisha Adams, and Kyle (Haley) Milton and seven great grandchildren: Addison, Randi, Rylee, Raegan, Leo, Matteo, and Riggs

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Cody, Nebraska.

Robert Russell Schmeeckle  (1989-2021)

On May 20th, 2021 Larry Piester was received into Heaven from Monument Health in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Larry was born on October 5, 1943 at home in Mullen, Nebraska to Loyd and Mary (Ritenour) Piester.

Larry attended school in Mullen and graduated in 1961. He was proud to be a Bronco football, basketball, and track star. He was also active in choir, band, and was the Homecoming King.

Larry married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Jean Hohlfeld Piester on October 21, 1962.

They started their married lives together in Grand Island, Nebraska where Larry worked for Ed Clawson doing construction. Ed taught him many skills, including cabinet making.

Into this union they were blessed with two daughters, Mitzi in 1965 and Jodi in 1967.

They moved to North Platte, Nebraska in 1971 and started their own construction company, Piester Construction. Larry was an amazing master craftsman. He built many beautiful homes and businesses over the next 39 years and enjoyed teaching many others the love of the trade. Larry was an active member in the North Platte and State Homebuilders Association and was the state president for 2 years. He earned the State Homebuilder of the year award in 1994. He and Jean traveled to Washington DC to speak in front of FEMA about the Flood Plains in Nebraska.

Larry dedicated many years serving on the NebraskaLand Days Board and even served as President. He was also a member of the Buffalo Bill Rodeo Committee. His family enjoyed working with him on all these adventures. Larry was security and instrumental in setting up the arena when President Ronald Regan visited North Platte, and again when President Reagan came back with Governor Kay Orr. He was a founding member of the Cody Cavalry. He was honored with the Dale Studley Award in 2005 and the Trail Boss award in 2015.

Larry was an active member for the Lincoln County Jail Committee, North Platte Chamber Ambassador, and a member of the Eagles and Elks clubs. He enjoyed helping with the Chadron Community Hospital’s Circle of Light Fundraisers.

Larry and Jean moved northeast of Whitman, Nebraska when he retired to their family Kincaid. They loved spending time working together making their place look amazing with flowers, gardening, a large yard, and many other projects.

Larry enjoyed his dogs, cats, and horses. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and Husker fan. He enjoyed sharing his skills with his kids and grandkids.

Larry never knew a stranger and touched the lives of so many. He was always quick with a smile, advice, suggestions, a hug and was so quick witted. He definitely had an ornery streak to him. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Larry is survived by the love of his life, Jean; daughters Mitzi (AJ) Hunt and Jodi (Mark) Dannar all of Chadron, Nebraska; his grandchildren Nicole (Tim) Schmit and Ryan (Karissa) Cox all of North Platte, Nebraska, Jeramy Dannar of Norfolk, Nebraska and Victoria (Cody) Peterson of Plainview, Nebraska; and great grandchildren Blakeleigh, Barrett, and Vydaylya Peterson; his sister Vera Wormington of Reno, Nevada; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents; in-laws; siblings Stan Piester, Evelyn Creelman, Georgia Carruth; and brother-in-law Les Wormington. He is now dancing with his angel, great granddaughter Remington Jean Schmit.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 28th, 2021 at 11:00 am MT at the Mullen United Methodist Church. Interment will be at the Cedarview Cemetery in Mullen, Nebraska. 

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.

Larry Piester  (1943-2021)

Bradley Dwight Johnson, age 57, of Lincoln, Nebraska passed away unexpectedly on May 20, 2021. He was born on January 2, 1964 to Dwight and Karen (Porter) Johnson of Omaha, Nebraska.

Brad was dedicated by Dr. R.R. Brown at Christ Community Church, previously Omaha Gospel Tabernacle, in Omaha.&nbsp; After several years of attending the Okoboji Bible Conference with his family, at the age of 10, Brad responded to a missionary’s call to go anywhere the Lord would lead him. In 1982, he graduated from Ralston High School. He furthered his education at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln and played on the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team from 1982-1987 under Coach Tom Osborne. During this time, Brad was actively involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes and held teaching roles with his church's college and career group. Also while in school, he met Debra Kay Block and they were married on June 20, 1987. To this union they welcomed two children, Parker Scott Johnson and Mary Claire Elise Johnson.

Brad attended Dallas Theological Seminary where he received two masters in Christian Education and Family Life Ministry/Biblical Studies. He started ministry as a Student Ministries Pastor at Firewheel Bible Fellowship in Garland, TX, then Family Life Pastor at Waterbrook Bible Fellowship in Wylie, TX. In 2008, the Johnson family moved to Nebraska where Brad served as the Senior Pastor at Arbor Drive Community Church in York, and finally, Pastor of Assimilation at Hillcrest Evangelical Free Church in Seward. A large part of his ministry included small group ministries, performing weddings and funerals, and spiritual counseling.

Brad passionately pursued Jesus. He was an avid supporter of his children's activities and deeply loved everyone near him. He was dedicated to reading and studying the Word and devoted countless hours in the service of others. He was often seen rejoicing with those who rejoiced and mourning with those who mourned. He spent his off-time hunting, skiing in Colorado, helping his wife landscape, learning to become a better cook, singing along to his favorite songs, writing poetry, contributing to the local newspaper, and completing sudoku and crossword puzzles.

Brad is survived by wife Deb (Block) of Lincoln, NE, son Parker (Madison) Johnson of Lincoln, NE, daughter Mary Claire Johnson of Omaha, NE; parents Dwight and Karen (Porter) Johnson of Omaha, NE, siblings Vicki (Dave) Graves of Volga, SD, Rodney (Marlys) Johnson of Lincoln, NE, Leslie (Dan) Nordstrom of Omaha, NE and Stephanie Johnson of Lincoln, NE, parents in-law Dale (Mary Lou) Block of Gothenburg, NE, sisters in-law Bonnie (Bernie) Reed of Holdrege, NE, Judy (Mark) Butler of Holdrege, NE, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

He is preceded in death by grandparents Adolph (Gurnell) Johnson of Omaha, NE and Merrill (Dorothy) Porter of Omaha, NE.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Hillcrest Evangelical Free Church, Seward, NE. 

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2021 also at Hillcrest Evangelical Free Church in Seward with several fellow ministry members and friends officiating. Robert A. “Bob” Carr, age 84, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021 after a long battle of dementia at Emerald Nursing Home and Rehab in Cozad, Nebraska.

Bob was born on August 9, 1936, in Lexington, Nebraska, to Robert and Elizabeth (Stieb) Carr. His family resided in Lexington where he would attend Lexington Public Schools.&nbsp; He left school to work and help support the family when his father became ill. He was inducted into the Nebraska National Guard, and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1961.

On March 3, 1956, he was united in marriage to Delores “Dee” Hegge at Pierre, South Dakota and the couple were blessed with three daughters: Debra, Carol and Sandy. The family made their home in Lexington, where Bob was employed by area farmers.&nbsp; He then began a long career in construction, building homes. Bob owned and operated M&amp;C Construction with his partner Merle Margritz.

Bob having a love for car racing was an understatement. He spent 26 years driving his Mini Sprint car competing all over the state and winning multiple championships in Lexington and North Platte.&nbsp; Bob was also a pit man for Bob O’Neill who drove stock cars.&nbsp; He loved being at the track with his competitors and friends.&nbsp; He was a long time member of the Mid-Nebraska Racing Association and Dawson County Speedway.&nbsp; When Bob wasn’t at the racetrack, he enjoyed bowling and working on the neighborhood road.&nbsp; In his later years, Bob enjoyed going to Mac’s Short Stop to help Dee open the store and visiting with the regulars.&nbsp;

Funeral Services will be on Friday, May 28, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, Nebraska with Pastor Bill Ohlmann, officiating.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, Nebraska.

Following the traditional funeral service, cremation will take place and burial will be held at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington, Nebraska.

Services for Dorothy Ann (Lunbery) Barger, age 93, of rural Culbertson, Nebraska will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in the West First Chapel in McCook, Nebraska with Pastor Johnny Walker officiating.&nbsp; Inurnment will follow the services in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.

Dorothy passed and entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, May 27th, 2020 at Mt. Carmel Home-Keens Memorial in Kearney, Nebraska.

Dorothy was born August 13th, 1926 in Trenton, Nebraska to Melvin Ross and Anna Friederike (Pollman) Lunbery.&nbsp; She grew up near Trenton on the family farm which is now known as Swanson Reservoir.&nbsp; Dorothy attended the teacher’s college in Kearney, Nebraska where she received her teachers’ certificate.&nbsp; On November 12th, 1944, Dorothy married her soulmate, Donald C. Barger.&nbsp; This union of marriage bonded the couple in love and dedication to the Lord with an eternal love for each other.

While Don served in World War II, Dorothy taught at a country school. Dorothy was very active in the First Church of God in McCook as treasurer, Sunday school and VBS teacher, as well as served in many other capacities involving the church.

Next to the couple’s faith in God, nothing was more important than their 3 children, 12 grandkids, 27 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.&nbsp; Dorothy enjoyed traveling with family and friends especially her trip to Switzerland with Don.&nbsp; As a farm wife for 73 years she took pride in sharing the responsibilities and assisting wherever needed on the farm.&nbsp; She was known for her hospitality and both Don and Dorothy enjoyed hosting many church, family, and neighborhood gatherings.&nbsp; Dorothy was also known as a great cook and the family pie baker.&nbsp; She had a love for nature which inspired her painting hobby in previous years and also enjoyed gardening, planting flowers and admiring God’s beautiful animals, especially the rabbits and birds of many kinds and colors in the front lawn.&nbsp; Dorothy has passed her love for sewing down through family generations which led to multiple 4_h successes.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald C. Barger; parents, Melvin &amp; Anna Lunbery; brother Raymond Lunbery; brothers-in-law, Bill Witt and Leo Lines; grandchildren, Lance Barger and Dawn Kennedy; and great grandchild, Audrey Klein; and 18 in-laws.

On December 24, 1982, Annie married John Allen Nunamaker in Johnstone, Scotland while John was serving in the U.S. Navy. The couple first settled in Johnstone and then relocated to several locations following John’s Naval career. Annie and John eventually moved to the U.S. in 2008, settling in Wauneta, Nebraska. Annie was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing games, traveling, and especially loved spending time with her family and friends. Annie passed away early Saturday morning, May 22, 2021, at the Great Plains Health Hospital in North Platte, Nebraska. She was 69 years of age. Annie was preceded in death by her parents, brother Matthew Murney, and sister Agnes Murney. Survivors include her husband John Nunamaker of Wauneta, Nebraska; siblings Margaret Gardiner, James Murney, Frank Murney, Sarah Murney, and Mary Murney all of Scotland; her mother-in-law, Ruth Nunamaker of Stratton, Nebraska; sisters-in-law Paula Brown of Cannonsburg, Pennsylvania, Edna Jessup of Trenton, Nebraska, and June Boyd (Joshua) of Stratton, nebraska; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Irvin Hyatt  (1931-2021)

Eugenia M. "Gene" Hawks, age 83, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington.

She was born August 4, 1937 in Frontier County, Nebraska to Eugene J. and Armilda P. (Lucas) Gruber. She was the oldest of eight children. She attended school in the Eustis, Nebraska area and graduated from Eustis High School with the class of 1955.

Genie was united in marriage to Robert Hawks on September 4, 1955 at the Lutheran Church in Eustis. To this union two daughters were born, Susan and Ann. After the wedding the couple moved to Arkansas, where Bob was in the service for a year and then moved to Lexington, Nebraska in 1956.

Genie was a school Librarian at the Morton Elementary School in Lexington for over twenty years. She had read every book in the library. She had a true love for children.

She was an active member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Lexington where she taught Sunday School, Bible School confirmation classes and was a member of Ruth’s Circle for over forty years. Genie was a Girl Scout leader, a member of the Red Hats Society, an extension club and a bunko group for many years. She loved traveling and she and Bob wintered in San Diego since 1998. She was an avid reader, loved taking walks, having coffee with her friends and talking and debating with people. She was proud of her children and her grandchildren.

Genie is survived by her husband of over sixty-five years, Robert of Lexington, Nebraska; two daughters, Susan and husband Glenn McClintic of San Diego, California and Ann and husband Larry Luther of Lexington, Nebraska; four grandchildren; Alexis and husband Lucas Holubek of San Rafael, California, Aaron Luther of Los Angeles, California, Taylor McClintic of Eugene, Oregon, and Ryan McClintic of Santa Cruz, California; three brothers: Eldon (Annette) Gruber of Roca, Nebraska, Bruce (Carole) Gruber of Salem, Oregon and David (Linda) Gruber of Moalla, Oregon; two sisters, Verna (Ron) Goad of Salem, Oregon and Nancy (Darrel) Holscher of Bertrand, Nebraska. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Gordon, two sisters, Julie Howell and an infant sister, and one brother-in-law, Doyle.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 25, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, Nebraska. Following visitation her body will be cremated.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church in Lexington, Nebraska with John Strackbein, P.M.A., officiating. The service will be live streamed on the Grace Lutheran Face Book page.

Inurnment will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery, north of Lexington, Nebraska.

To this union two daughters were born, Susan and Ann. After the wedding the couple moved to Arkansas, where Bob was in the service for a year and then moved to Lexington, Nebraska in 1956.Genie was a school Librarian at the Morton Elementary School in Lexington for over twenty years. She had read every book in the library. Eugenia M. "Genie" Hawks  (1937-2021)

Maxine Iona Reynolds, age 93, of North Platte, Nebraska went to be with the Lord on May 20, 2021.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 3:00 pm at the Baptist Church in Arnold, Nebraska with Pastor Irv Jennings officiating. Burial will be in the Loup Valley Cemetery west of Stapleton, Nebraska.

 Memorials are suggested to Finch Memorial Library or Loup Valley Cemetery. 

A visitation will be held on Monday, May 24, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:30 pm at the Baptist Church in Arnold, Nebraska.

Maxine was born on April 5, 1928 in Logan County, Nebraska to Jesse Dewey Main and Anna Alvirda (Beam) Main.&nbsp; She was raised on the family farm west of Stapleton, Nebraska.&nbsp; At the age of ten her mother passed away and she and her siblings were raised by their Dad learning life skills from him.

She attended Nesbit Rural Grade School and graduated from Baker Rural High School in Stapleton with the class of 1945.

On September 28, 1948 she married John Edward Reynolds in Raton, New Mexico.&nbsp; They had four children, Delma, Beverly, Eddie, and Polly.

They lived south of Stapleton and north of Arnold on the Hagler Ranch for the first years and worked for John’s parents.&nbsp; They then moved to Dunning and lived on the McGooden Ranch for several years.&nbsp; When they left there, they moved north of Whitman to the Coble Ranch.&nbsp; In 1962 they moved to Arnold and purchased the Arnold Motor Court from John’s parents.&nbsp; Maxine managed the Motor Court for the next 33 years until selling it in 1995.&nbsp; John and Maxine enjoyed square dancing until his health prevented the activity.

Maxine taught herself to be a talented seamstress, making her family’s clothes, and many pep club uniforms for the years her daughters were in school.&nbsp; She was a 4-H leader, FHA Chapter Mother, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Arnold.&nbsp;

During her retired years she enjoyed reading and quilting, making sure that each of her children and grandchildren had a quilt and that each great-grandchild had a baby quilt.&nbsp; She also made her sisters each a quilt and assisted with many at the Church.

In 2013 she moved to Autumn Park in North Platte, Nebraska to be near her sisters.&nbsp; In 2018 she moved to Linden Estates Assisted Living in North Platte.

Maxine is survived by her children, Delma Doggett, Beverly (Ray) Williams, Ed (Sidney) Reynolds and Polly (Jamie) Hays. Grandchildren: Cari Brizendine, Billie (Trey) Park, Ryan (Shayne) Williams, Paige (Cody) Cook, Ashley (Shane) Helseth, Tyler Reynolds, Christopher Hays, Nathan Hays, and Erin (Trevor) Zelinski, Great-Grandchildren: Layne (Morgan) Brizendine, Jayce Brizendine and Rayna McLaughlin, Tracer, Trenton and Trevin Park, Bradie Williams, Royce, Parker and Waylon Cook, Corey and Dylan Helseth and Thatcher Zelinski.&nbsp; Great Great Grandsons: Braxton and Kayson Brizendine.&nbsp; She is also survived by one sister Eilene James McKinney, one brother-In-law Bill Fanter and numerous nieces, nephews, and many supportive friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, her parents-in-law, one brother and two sisters.

Maxine Iona Reynolds  (1928-2021)

James D. 'Jim' Murphy, age 86, of Omaha, Nebraska, formerly of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at his home at the Maple Ridge Retirement Community in Omaha.

James was born on December 23, 1934 in Columbus, Nebraska to Frank and Catherine (Novicki) Murphy, the second of eight children. He received his education from Columbus High Schools and graduated from Columbus High School with the class of 1953. He then pursued higher education at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, where he earned a football scholarship to the University of Nebraska and became co-captain of the Football team. He graduated from UNL in 1957.

He married the love of his life, Ann Kiffin, on December 28, 1957 in Lexington, Nebraska and was commissioned into the U. S. Army where he completed Airborne and Army Ranger training while stationed at Ft. Bragg, N.C. Jim then returned to the Nebraska National Guard as the commander and served in the unit for 28 years.

Ann and Jim made their home in Lexington, Nebraska in 1961 where Jim became co-owner with Monte Kiffin in the Kiffin-Murphy Agency. He and Ann were members of St. Ann’s Catholic Church.

He created lifetime memories with his family which included dancing with his wife, Ann, golf, football, hunting and horse-racing. He loved spending time with his grand-children and teaching them how to play cribbage.

Survived by his wife of 63 years, Ann of Omaha, NE; sons, James (Cherri) Murphy of Lincoln, NE and Dan (Michelle) Murphy of Denver, CO; daughters, Helen (Bob) Schlotfeld of Omaha, NE and Liz Murphy of Denver, CO; as well as his nine grandchildren, Lauren, Paige, Patrick, Molly, Matt, Sarah, Madeline, Mimi and Jack; step-grandchildren, Emily and Eric Nielsen and Natalie Kissner;. Jim is also survived by his siblings, Judith Jones and Connie Bonk of Columbus, NE and Patrick Murphy of North Platte, NE.

James was preceded in death by his son, Joseph; siblings, Rose Marie Christensen, Robert, Tom and Tim Murphy; daughter-in-law, Suzie Murphy.

Mass Of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Father Matt Koperski, officiating. The Mass will be livestreamed via the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home Facebook page.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from 5-7 p.m., followed by the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington, NE.

Thomas Dale "Tom" Stritt  (1948-2021)

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;David John Mickelson was born March 18, 1938 to Walter E. and Ruth (Heckenlaible) Mickelson in Anoka, Minnesota. He departed this life on May 22,2021 in&nbsp; North Platte, Nebraska surrounded by loved ones. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;David graduated from St Frances High School in 1955 and worked various jobs before joining Olson Plumbing as a beginning to a&nbsp; 60 year plumbing career opening his own shop, Mickelson Plumbing in 1977. He married Betty Huckenpoehler along the way and had son David and daughters Roxanne and Rhonda. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Dave loved to hunt and fish and he had a Mountain Sheep, a couple of caribou, and a 9 ½ feet brown bear from North West Territories and Alaska.&nbsp; Elk and deer from Idaho, Minnesota, and Nebraska. While on one of those Idaho hunts with Rick Novak and the boys. He met a gal in Salmon, Idaho who liked to hunt and fish as well as he did. Joyce Blackman Franken was a hunting guide in the Frank Church Wilderness area and they were so much alike it was scary. They did the hunting &amp; fishing and wilderness trips from Frank Church to Wyoming’s Bridger Teton's, Council Idaho, and Palisade, MN. From Joyce’s family farm in the Ozark mountains, to The San Juan's in Colorado.&nbsp; Sports shows, and fishing the Salmon River, Lake Millelacs, English River, and Lake McConaughy. The lakes in North Island, New Zealand, and rivers of South Island New Zealand.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Dave and Joyce married in July 1987, and he added Carson, Cami, and Wes Blackman to his family and along came grandchildren and great grandchildren who never knew anyone but Grandpa Dave. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;They operated Mickelson Sheep Ranch near Elk River where they furnished 4-H lambs and did sheep dog trials and raised hundreds of baby lambs down thru the years while keeping the plumbing shop and Joyce with Edina Realty. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Dave loved to travel and they went to all the Caribbean Islands, Hawaii, Sweden, Denmark,and Monte Carlo, Rome with daughter Rhonda.  </figure>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;David John Mickelson was born March 18, 1938 to Walter E. and Ruth (Heckenlaible) Mickelson in Anoka, Minnesota. He departed this life on May 22,2021 in&nbsp; North Platte, Nebraska surrounded by loved ones. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;David graduated from St Frances High School in 1955 and worked various jobs before joining Olson Plumbing as a beginning to a&nbsp; 60 year plumbing career opening his own shop, Mickelson Plumbing in 1977. He married Betty Huckenpoehler along the way and had son David and daughters Roxanne and Rhonda. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Dave loved to hunt and fish and he had a Mountain Sheep, a couple of caribou, and a 9 ½ feet brown bear from North West Territories and Alaska.&nbsp; Elk and deer from Idaho, Minnesota, and Nebraska. While on one of those Idaho hunts with Rick Novak and the boys. He met a gal in Salmon, Idaho who liked to hunt and fish as well as he did. Joyce Blackman Franken was a hunting guide in the Frank Church Wilderness area and they were so much alike it was scary. They did the hunting &amp; fishing and wilderness trips from Frank Church to Wyoming’s Bridger Teton's, Council Idaho, and Palisade, MN. From Joyce’s family farm in the Ozark mountains, to The San Juan's in Colorado.&nbsp; Sports shows, and fishing the Salmon River, Lake Millelacs, English River, and Lake McConaughy. The lakes in North Island, New Zealand, and rivers of South Island New Zealand.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Dave and Joyce married in July 1987, and he added Carson, Cami, and Wes Blackman to his family and along came grandchildren and great grandchildren who never knew anyone but Grandpa Dave. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;They operated Mickelson Sheep Ranch near Elk River where they furnished 4-H lambs and did sheep dog trials and raised hundreds of baby lambs down thru the years while keeping the plumbing shop and Joyce with Edina Realty. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Dave loved to travel and they went to all the Caribbean Islands, Hawaii, Sweden, Denmark,and Monte Carlo, Rome with daughter Rhonda. David John Mickelson  (1938-2021)

Dianna Butherus Korell died May 19, 2021 at her lake home near Ashland, Nebraska where she loved the view of the lake, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 71 years old.

Dianna was born to George and Irva (Wagner) Butherus on September 30, 1949, the second of five daughters.&nbsp; Growing up on the family farm just on the edge of Culbertson, Nebraska with wide open places to play with her sisters, chickens and livestock to tend, and beautiful prairie sunrises and sunsets was among her fondest memories.&nbsp; With the encouragement of her mother, Dianna learned to play the piano and served as the organist for Trinity United Methodist Church. &nbsp;Dianna was active in school activities.&nbsp; Following graduation from Culberston High School Class of 1967, Dianna attended Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska.&nbsp;

Dianna and Brad Korell, classmates since fourth grade and high school sweethearts, were married August 1, 1970. Following Brad’s military service, Dianna and Brad moved back to Lincoln, Nebraska, making Lincoln their home.&nbsp; Fulfilling her lifelong dream, Dianna became the mother to Melissa, Kevin and Ryan. Her life was filled with children’s activities including horse shows, soccer games, school events, a young mothers’ group at church, after school visits with her children around the dining room table, family ski trips to Colorado, trips back home to the farm, precious time with grandchildren, volunteering at St. Elizabeth Health Center and serving as a TeamMates mentor.&nbsp; In 1991, Dianna continued her formal education by earning her Medical Assisting Degree from Southeast Community College, followed by employment at St. Elizabeth Wound Care Center as a medical assistant.

Her family remembers her fondly as a source of compassion and strength, that carried each of us through the darkest times of our lives.&nbsp; She bestowed on each of us her boundless and unconditional love for which we are ever grateful.

Her immediate family includes daughter Melissa and husband Ben Wright of Kenai, Alaska and children, John, George, James and Dianna; son Kevin Korell and his daughter Ruby of Lincoln; and son Ryan and his wife Jacque and their daughter Skyler of Pueblo, Colorado.

In August 2020, Dianna and Brad celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by moving to their new lake home in Ashland.

Dianna is survived by husband Brad, her children and grandchildren; sisters Pat Welch, Susan Ihrig, Marcia Spady and Barbara Cooper and their families; Uncle Paul Wagner and wife Karen; brother-in-law Kip Korell and sister-in-law Kerry Chrisman; and many other members of her extended family.
