Betty May Kennedy of Cozad passed away Sunday, July 12, 2020 at Callaway, Nebraska at the age of 91. 

Betty was born January 30, 1929 northeast of Cozad, Nebraska to George and Edith (Swayne) Harvey.&nbsp; She attended country schools through the 8th grade, and graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1946.&nbsp; On June 4, 1952 she married Dale B. Kennedy.&nbsp; 

Betty attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney, receiving a B.A. in education plus endorsements in reading and special education. Betty taught in the rural schools of Cozad and Kearney during her first years of teaching.&nbsp; She taught seventh grade for three years in Elm Creek Public Schools, and then in Lexington Public Schools for 33 years as Reading Coordinator, Chapter I Coordinator and as a Special Education teacher.&nbsp; Betty taught as an aide, computer teacher and Special Education in Dist. #44 and retired in 2011 from Pershing Elementary.&nbsp; She loved teaching and seeing the progress each child made.&nbsp; 

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Delta Kappa Gamma, Alpha Kappa Gamma, National Reading Association and Bryan Retired Teachers. She was also awarded the National Teacher of the Year Award in 1978. 

She loved being with her family camping, fishing, trail rides, motor home trips and the reunions of the Swayne family in Kansas.&nbsp; She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.&nbsp; 

Survivors include her son, Kevin (Chris) Kennedy of Cozad; daughter, Karen Kennedy of Lead, SD; grandchildren, Jessica Kennedy of Cozad, Kelsey (Justin) Stolp of Sumner, Maya Kennedy-Hyman of Lead, SD; great grandchildren, Wyatt, Stetson and Kaiya Stolp of Sumner and Jeremiah Gaines of Cozad; sister, Hazel Woodward of Gothenburg; nieces, Jeral (Sam) Tillman of Omaha and Janel (Rod) Brestel of Callaway.&nbsp; 

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; brother, Bob Harvey and his wife Gladys; and nephew, Jon Woodward.

Helen W. (Holle) Swanson, 95 of Dannebrog died Friday, July 3, 2020, at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.

Services will be at 10:30 Saturday July 11 at First Baptist Church in Dannebrog.&nbsp; The Revs. Rob Pearson and Donnie Halbgewachs will officiate.&nbsp; Interment will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Dannebrog.

Mrs. Swanson was born June 3, 1925, at the farm outside Grove City, Minnesota, to Christian and Eleanor (Day Callaway) Holle.

Helen graduated from Grove City High School in 1946.&nbsp; She graduated from Bethel College and Bethel Seminary in St Paul, Minnesota.&nbsp; She played the clarinet in Bethel’s Concert Band.&nbsp; She was very involved in Bethel’s Children’s Ministries; as a member of the group God’s Invasion Army, she traveled in the United States and across Saskatchewan, Canada helping them put on Vacation Bible Schools.

Helen met the love of her life while working at Mounds Midway Hospital.&nbsp; Over 68 years ago Ted Swanson and Helen Holle were united in marriage on December 14, 1951 on a cold snowy night in Grove City, Minnesota.

Helen was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dannebrog, where she taught Sunday School and VBS for some years.&nbsp; She worked as an aide at the Howard County Hospital in St. Paul for 17 years.&nbsp; She was a seamstress, tailoring suits and sewing wedding dresses; she won the “Make It With Wool Contest in Nebraska.&nbsp; Helen was a weaver, winning “Best in Show” with one of her rugs at the Nebraska State Fair.&nbsp; She had a large garden, canning and freezing everything, she could; she loved flowers and opened her home to anyone.&nbsp; But above all else, she loved her family and the Lord, her Savior!&nbsp; It is fitting to note that Helen lived a life of gratitude to God for His “grace that none can measure”.&nbsp;

Survivors include her children and their spouses Trish Swanson of Tampa, Florida, Cindy and Greg Bodin of Maple Grove, Minnesota, John and Sarah Swanson of Dannebrog, Nebraska and Doug and Karen of Aurora, Nebraska.

She was born in Grand Island, NE on May 26, 1950, to James and Irene (Stewart) Ballard.&nbsp;

She married Carl G. Meissner February 28, 1992, in North Platte, NE.&nbsp; She was LPN for many years in the Broken Bow area.&nbsp;

Victoria Dian Haveriland, age 81, of Gothenburg, Nebraska died July 11, 2020 at Emerald Care in Cozad, Nebraska.

She was born on June 11, 1939 in Saint Louis, Missouri, daughter of Nicholas C. Waggoner and Edith Marian (Ball) Waggoner Strawn.&nbsp; Victoria worked for many years as a police officer for the Orange County Police Department and for the California Highway Patrol.&nbsp; She loved to ride her Harley and the freedom it offered her.&nbsp; Victoria lived on a ranch near Dunning, Nebraska for a while.&nbsp; She made her home in Gothenburg where she served on the Gothenburg Housing Authority Board.&nbsp; She loved animals, especially horses and collected horse figurines.&nbsp; She had a cat named Raider Girl whom she had named after her favorite football team, the Oakland Raiders.&nbsp; She made friends with the squirrels in her community; she gave them all names and feed them off of her china dishes.

She was very giving and would do anything for anyone.&nbsp; She moved into the Housing Authority for a number of years and her final home at Emerald Care in Cozad.

Survivors include her extended family in California and her community friends in Gothenburg, Nebraska.

Victoria was preceded in death by her mother, Edith Marian Strawn; her father, Nicholas C. Waggoner; her brother, Nicolas Clemence Waggoner, III; along with other extended family.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, 620 Tenth Street in Gothenburg, Nebraska on Thursday, July 16, 2020 from 0:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Victoria Dian Haveriland  (1939-2020)

Shorty Coleman of Colorado, formerly of North Platte, Nebraska, peacefully passed away at his home on July 2, 2020 at the age of 78.

Shorty was born on June 18, 1942 in North Platte, Nebraska to Raymond and Alvina Coleman.&nbsp; He was given the name Carroll Lee, but everyone called him Shorty.&nbsp; He was raised on a dairy farm ten miles southeast of town and loved the farm and all his animals.&nbsp; Shorty had two favorite dogs, Sparky and a German Shepherd named Tycon, and two horses, Gopher and Princess.

Living on a farm is fun and the work is hard....every morning and night, the cows had to be milked and then after the milking was finished Shorty always forgot to close the gates, thus the cows would get out and Skip, Shorty's brother, would have to go get them.

One afternoon when Shorty went to bring the cows home, he encountered a rattlesnake but fortunately he carried a sock with him.&nbsp; Shorty used that sock to distract the snake.&nbsp; Throwing it down on the ground, the snake would strike and encircle itself around the sock.&nbsp; The up on the hill, Shorty's sister, Marilyn, would be watching.&nbsp; When he waved his arms, Marilyn would get dad to drive out to where Shorty was to shoot the rattlesnake.&nbsp; The snake was then hung over the barbed wire fence because there was a saying, "Hang the snake over the fence and you will get rain."&nbsp; Well, most of the time that was true!

Shorty attended Sioux Lookout Grade School, which was a mile from home.&nbsp; When he was in the 5th grade he was sickened with Rheumatic Fever and ended up missing that whole year of school.&nbsp; School was never his thing, but he was a trooper and finished through the 8th grade and then attended North Platte Senior High where he was active in band, playing the tenor saxophone.

On the night of his graduation, his mom received a call from the school informing her that Shorty couldn't graduate because he was one credit short.&nbsp; But being the trooper that he was, Shorty took a typing course that summer and passed with an A and received not one credit, but three, thus receiving his diploma!

Shorty was active in the Blue Sage 4-H Horse Club where he won many purple and blue ribbons in Barrel Racing and Pole Bending with his horse, Princess.&nbsp; Shorty, Skip and their dad were all members of the Lincoln County Sheriff's Posse for many years and Shorty and his dad twice rode in the Pony Express re-enactments.

Along with working on the farm, Shorty was active in the Nebraska National Guard for six years.&nbsp; He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad from 1964 to 1972, then moved to his beloved Colorado mountains where he worked at a blood plant in Brighton before moving to Fort Collins and working for the County of Larimore.&nbsp; Being in Colorado, he enjoyed watching the Denver Broncos and it was his son, Lee, who took him to his first Broncos Football game.

Shorty was a kind-hearted person, always thinking of the other individual first and always ready to help anyone.&nbsp; He would willingly give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed help.&nbsp; He was always ready for life and ready to take on a new adventure.

Shorty loved his wife, Liz, very much and always wanted her by his side.&nbsp; He was very proud of his children, Lee, R.J., Shawna, Joshus, Necco and Fawn, and loved them as well.&nbsp; His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy.

Shorty had a motto, "All that mattered in life was work hard, take care of your family, and drink beer."&nbsp; He will always be remembered as a very good person who will be missed very much.&nbsp; Rest in peace, Shorty, we love you!

Along with his wife, children, and grandchildren, Shorty is survived by his sister, Marilyn Hastings of North Platte, Nebraska and his brother, Skip Coleman of Mineral Point, Wisconsin; along with other family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Shawna.

Rolland Lee White, age 72, of Broken Bow, passed away July 3, 2020 at Good Samaritan Hospital with his wife by his side and surrounded by the love of his family.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Rolland was born on September 19, 1947 in Burwell, NE to Eldon and Alice White.&nbsp; He grew up on the family farm and ranch near Burwell, along with his brother Roger.&nbsp; There he learned all the skills and joys of rural life.&nbsp; Through this, he developed a love and knowledge of farm machinery which became a lifelong passion.&nbsp; He attended rural schools in his community during grade school.&nbsp; He graduated from Burwell High School in 1964 and then moved to Denver to attend Denver Automotive Institute.&nbsp; In the years following school he worked in Burwell at Johnson Motors, Anderson Motors, and Lech Equipment and also spending a short time in the insurance business.&nbsp; It was through this venture that he met Janice Petersen in the summer of 1969 at a Farm Bureau picnic.&nbsp; They were married on June 13, 1971, and recently celebrated 49 years together.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Through the years, Rolland worked in farm implement sales, irrigation sales, and at his own business White Sales and Service.&nbsp; Through all of his work, he made many contacts, many of whom became friends.&nbsp; He took pride in diagnosing and fixing as well as buying and selling machinery.&nbsp; He worked hard and was committed to doing his best for his customers.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Rolland and Janice were blessed with two children, Brad and Cindy, and six grandchildren.&nbsp; Raising a family was fun and busy.&nbsp; In retirement, Rolland’s greatest joy was working with Brad in his equipment business as well as buying and selling for Brad, attending machinery auctions, and maintaining the family farm alongside his brother Roger.&nbsp; He especially enjoyed time spent with Janice and his kids and grandkids. Rolland’s family and friends enjoyed his quick wit and humor.

Though not big travelers, Rolland and Janice did enjoy a trip to Canada upon retirement, a vacation to Disney World with the whole family and a trip to Alaska with Janice’s sister Barb and her husband Jim in 2012.&nbsp; The memories were priceless.&nbsp; Rolland was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Broken Bow where he served on various boards.

He is survived by his wife Janice of Broken Bow, son Brad (Andra) White of Broken Bow, daughter Cindy (Steve) Kitt of Columbus, and six grandchildren: Callie, Jack and Cooper White, and Hannah, Caleb and Ben Kitt, a brother Roger (Kayla) White of Burwell, brothers-in-law, Alan (Susan) Petersen, and Glen (Judy) Petersen and mother-in-law Ruth Ann Petersen all of Burwell, as well as many cousins, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Alice White.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or Broken Bow EMT Ambulance Service.

Rolland Lee White (1947-2020)

Linda Rae Pierce, age 72, of Alliance, NE, passed away, Saturday, June 27, 2020 at her daughters home in Ogallala.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Linda was born to Milford and Alice (Hammer) Pierce on May 11, 1948. She was one of 17 children.

Linda enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her great grandkids.&nbsp; She loved watching Thomas the Train, Paw Patrol and any other cartoons they liked to watch.&nbsp; She also enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel Christmas movies, all year around.&nbsp; Linda loved cooking a big breakfast for her family.&nbsp; Her other favorite hobbies were playing bingo and going to casinos with her friends and family.&nbsp; She loved to argue with us about every little thing but always had a way to make us laugh.&nbsp;

She will be dearly missed for her antics and unbelievable cooking.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers; Ronald and Harold; 5 sisters; Sherry, Wanda, Betty, Christy and Maradeen; and a son-in-law, Greg Buethe, Sr.

James Neuman Egger was born January 15, 1948, at Des Moines, IA, to Herbert (Bud) and Norma Jean (Madsen) Egger.&nbsp; Jack, (as he was known) graduated from Parkview High School, Springfield, MO., in 1967.&nbsp; He soon started his nine year career in the U.S. Air Force stationed initially at Osan Air Force Base, South Korea, and finishing at NORAD, Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO.&nbsp; While in the service he was an honors graduate, Transportation Officer-3550 Technical School, Sheppard Technical Training Center, in 1971.&nbsp; Jack also continued his education obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration in 1971, from the University of Tennessee and a Master’s Degree in Social Services from the Pacific Lutheran University, Tacoma, WA, in 1974.&nbsp; He his honorably discharged in 1976.&nbsp; In 1989, Jack gained employment with the HVH Transportation Company as terminal manager in Colorado Springs, CO.&nbsp; In 1994, Jack was promoted to terminal manager in Denver, CO. He retired from the company in 2012 as the vice president of operations. Jack married Christine Ann Shull on July 24, 2006, in Wiggins, Co, where the couple settled. Following Christine’s career, they moved to Greeley, Co, Emporia, KS, and Benkelman, NE, in 2016.&nbsp; Jack and Christine have made Stratton, NE their home till present. Jack was a member of the Colorado Motor Carrier’s Association, and the Men’s Prayer Group of Wiggins, CO. Locally; he was a member of the Tuesday Bible Study of Stratton, NE, and taught adult Bible study and was a trustee and church board member of the Trinity Baptist of Benkelman. Jack was an artist, both in oil and acrylic painting. He enjoyed wood carving, playing pool, in which he was a champion in the service. Jack was also was a published author of “From Sin Salvation” in 2015. Jack passed away Monday morning, July 6, 2020, at the Great Plains Health Hospital, North Platte, NE. Jack was 72 years of age. James 'Jack' Neuman Egger (1948-2020)

Alberta Marie (Parde) Long was born April 27, 1928, to Henry R. and Ann Louise (Roschewski) Parde at Stratton, Nebraska.&nbsp; As a young girl she was baptized and attended parochial school at St. Paul Lutheran Church and school, rural Wauneta, Nebraska. Alberta married Marion C. Long on August 28, 1944, at St Francis, Kansas, and to this union five children were born, Jimmie, David, Linda, Timothy, and Diane.&nbsp; The couple lived in Wauneta, Nebraska, for a short time before moving to Salem, Oregon.&nbsp; Alberta completed her education and gained employment with the Oregon State Hospital as a nurse’s aide.&nbsp; She retired after 30 years all the while raising her children and assisting in the raising of her grandchildren. Alberta and Marion loved to travel and visit family, especially the Bartel’s Clan.&nbsp; Alberta enjoyed art projects, painting flowers, birds, and many different animals.&nbsp; Reading was another hobby along with golfing and bowling in the younger years.&nbsp; Alberta also enjoyed visiting casinos with all of hustle and bustle and their good food. Alberta was ornery, not taking much guff, giving the business right back to someone with a twinkle in her eye.&nbsp; She was a wonderful daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.&nbsp; She will be truly missed. Alberta passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at the Wauneta Care and Therapy Center. She was 92 years of age. Twila Nokes (1922-2020)

JoAn&nbsp;Hauser, age 88, of Lincoln, formerly of North Platte, died at St. Elizabeth Ann Hospital on July 7, 2020.

JoAn was born at Anselmo to Raymond and Bessie Chrisman on March 25, 1932, and raised in a soddy near Anselmo.&nbsp; When she was 9 years old her dad died so the family moved to the Sandhills and that is where JoAn was responsible for bringing in the cows to be milked.

In 1947 the Chrisman family moved to Redwood City, California.&nbsp; JoAn graduated from Sequoia High School in 1950 then married Richard Nadler and had three children, Deborah, Rhonda and Jeff.

On April 27, 1960, JoAn married Henry Hauser in Redwood City.&nbsp; The family grew with the addition of his daughter, Suzanne, and their three children, Dawn, Kelley and Toby.&nbsp; After living in California for the next 14 years, they moved to Warsaw, Missouri then to North Platte in 1981.

JoAn was a cake decorator at Sixth Street and later Sunmart for 12 years. She enjoyed being a volunteer with R.S.V.P., the Thrift Connection and working in the Senior Center kitchen.

JoAn enjoyed sewing and crafts.&nbsp; She was a great wife and mother who was always giving and doing what she could for her family, others and then some.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, and daughter, Dawn Renfrow; parents, Ray and Bessie Chrisman; brothers, Raymond ‘Bud’, Pete and Jim Chrisman; sisters, Lois Chrisman and Alene Hickman; and a granddaughter and grandson.

JoAn is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Trudi) Hauser, of Irmo, SC, Toby (Angie) Hauser, of Lincoln, Deborah (Steve) Silva, of Roseville, CA, Rhonda (Mike) Guess, of Auburn, CA, Suzanne (Phil) Ramage, of Sandy, UT, and Kelley (Mike) Dailey, of North Platte; son-in-law, Raymond Renfrow; her dog, Riley; 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; as well as many other family members.

JoAn Hauser (1932-2020)

Kenneth Francis Schimonitz, age 82, of Paxton, Nebraska died Sunday, July 5, 2020, at the North Platte Care Center.

Ken was born at Sutherland, Nebraska to Stephen and Martha Schimonitz on January 18, 1938.&nbsp; He grew up on the family farm, south of Paxton, and graduated from Paxton High School in 1956. Ken began farming with his father and brother, Louis, and continued farming all his life.&nbsp; The only time he was away from the farm was when he served in the U.S. Army from 1958 until his honorable discharge in 1960.

Ken retired in 2009 but continued living on the farm until 2017 when he moved into the retirement home.&nbsp; He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting ducks and deer.&nbsp; In his free time, Ken liked going to the casinos.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and American Legion, both in Paxton, the Elk’s Club and Eagles Aires #2839.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Martha; sister, Betty and husband, John Porter; brother, Steven; and brother-in-law, Charles Bierma.

Survivors include Ken’s brother, Louis (Frances) Schimonitz, of North Platte, Nebraska; sisters, Mary Bierma, of Omaha, Nebraska and Barbara (Jack) Swantkoski, of Phillips, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Grace Schimonitz, of Elsie, Nebraska; as well as many other family members.

Services will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Paxton on Friday, July 10, 2020.&nbsp; Rosary will begin at 9:30 a.m. (MT) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. with Celebrant Father Bryan Ernest. He was born May 29, 1937 in Carter, SD, son of Emery and Vera (Paulson) Carter.&nbsp; The&nbsp;family moved to Nebraska soon after his birth and he made the state his home.&nbsp; He graduated from Valentine High with the class of 1955.&nbsp; Gene married Bonnie Lou Bechtold on May 10, 1959 at Valentine.&nbsp; They lived there until 1967 when they moved to Franklin where he worked for Triple F Feeds.&nbsp; They then lived at Gothenburg from 1969-79 where he worked for Brooks &amp; Stebbins and B &amp; K Oil.&nbsp; They moved to North Platte in 1993 where he worked for the Lincoln County Dept of Roads until 1997. Then they moved to Rapid City, SD where he worked for the SD Dept of Roads until his retirement in 2017.&nbsp; He loved to move snow!&nbsp; They then returned to Gothenburg. Gene was a cowboy at heart with a deep love for a good horse and wide open country.&nbsp; He was involved in the Pony Express ReRide for several years.&nbsp; He was a member of the Lincoln County Sheriff's Posse for many years and served for a while as president of the Posse.&nbsp; In his free time he enjoyed leather working and tooling.

Survivors include wife, Bonnie Carter of Gothenburg, NE; two sons, Danial (Joni) Carter of Loomis, NE, Donald (Mitzi) Carter of Elm Creek, NE; daughter, Kathy (David Dittmer) Carter of Greeley, CO; nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; along with many friends and extended family members.&nbsp;

Jeanette (Griffith) Lauer, age 89, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on July 5th, 2020.

She was born to David Lloyd and Florence (Glass) Griffith on March 5th, 1931 on a farm south of Cozad, Nebraska.&nbsp; She attended country school, and graduated from Cozad High School.&nbsp; Jeanette met her loving husband Robert Lauer while cruising around one Halloween night.&nbsp; Though both were dating others at the time, when he returned from the service, they reconnected and were married on September 16, 1951, and enjoyed 68 years of marriage, where several of those years were spent on the square dance floor.

As a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Jeanette enjoyed quilting, Bible study, and circle.&nbsp; She had a strong faith, and it showed in how she lived her life and treated others.&nbsp; Jeanette was known as a fantastic cook and&nbsp; baker, winning several baking contests.&nbsp; It was nothing for her to bake 6-7 different pies at the holidays, as each one of her children had a favorite. Jeanette loved her family and extended family always making them feel at home which is why many of her nieces and nephews always seemed to end up at her house for cards, and lots of laughs.&nbsp; Though Jeanette's last couple of years were marked with health issues, she never complained, and would always make as many of her grandchildren's school and sporting events as possible, and never passed on an opportunity to cheer on the Husker volleyball and football teams.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00 AM Friday, July 10, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Orville Raymond Gaibler, 89, of Farnam, Nebraska, died July 1, 2020 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He was born September 12, 1930 in Farnam, NE, son of Christian and Lucile (Bick) Gaibler.&nbsp; Orville graduated from Farnam High School in 1948.&nbsp; He served his country in the US Army from Jan 1952 to Dec 1953.&nbsp; Orville married Jeweldine Davis on September 30, 1952 in Farnam, to this union two children were born; Allen and Joyce.&nbsp; They made their home on the farm southwest of Farnam and he lived in the Farnam area his entire life.&nbsp; Orville had a deep love for the land and the life that came with farming and ranching.&nbsp; He was a member of the Farnam Methodist Church and his faith was very important to him.

Survivors include his children Allen (Claudia) Gaibler of Central City and Joyce (David) Hartman of Kearney; grandchildren- Joshua (Jill) Gaibler and their children Jayden and Morgan of Central City;&nbsp; Tiffany, James, Crystal, Emily Hartman all of Kearney; brother Lester Gaibler and sister Ruth Sturgeon along with many friends and extended family.&nbsp;

On Monday July 6, 2020 Charles Joseph Scorsone, loving husband, stepfather, and grandfather passed away at age 77.

Charles was born June 26, 1943 in Cheyenne, WY to Joseph V. and Mary F. (Rizzuto) Scorsone.&nbsp; On March 17, 1993 he was united in marriage to Linda L. Pearson Jaszczak.

Growing up Charles enjoyed many sports and had a talent for baseball.&nbsp; In later years he enjoyed bowling and especially golf.&nbsp; Charles worked for Union Pacific Rail Road, starting his career in Cheyenne, later moving to North Platte where he worked as an electrician.&nbsp; He concluded his 40 years with the railroad as an Electrical Trainer Coordinator, sharing his life time knowledge and experience.

He grew up with a sister, Marian and 2 brothers, Tom and Richard and loved spending time with his family.

Charles is survived by his wife, Linda; and in later years, his family grew to include two stepdaughters; Gegetta (George) Brown and Lynette (Pat) Nickodemus; and four grandchildren; Ashlee and Travis Brown and Rylee and Roan Nickodemus. He and Linda spent many happy years together.

He is also survived by his brothers, Tom and Richard (Laura) Scorsone; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Marian.

Robert G. ‘Bob’ Stucky, 84 years of age, passed away July 4, 2020 at North Platte Care Center, North Platte, Nebraska.&nbsp; Bob was born November 14, 1935 at Castleton, Kansas to Samuel and Lucy (Martz) Stucky.&nbsp; He grew up on a dairy and wheat farm, near Hutchinson, Kansas. Bob graduated from Castleton Schools with 4 seniors in the final school year of Castleton Schools.&nbsp; Bob served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserve with Honorable Discharge and SP4 Rank.&nbsp; He served from February 23, 1955 to January 31, 1963.&nbsp; After 18 months of his duty he spent in Germany, he returned home to marry Ruth Ruebke.&nbsp; He retired from the office machines business in Hutchinson, Kansas before moving to North Platte in 2014.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Douglas; plus seven siblings.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth, celebrating 63 years of marriage; son, Bruce (Rachel), Maxwell, NE granddaughter, Ester (Tyler) Motsinger, Brady NE; great grandchildren, Kelcie, Jahlie and Peyton of Brady, NE; and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was a member of First Baptist Church, Maxwell, NE.

Robert G. 'Bob' Stucky (1935-2020)

Norman “Dale” Licking, age 72, went home to the arms of Jesus on July 1, 2020.&nbsp; Dale was born December 28, 1947 at Broken Bow, NE to Norman L. Licking and Mary (Spellbrink) Licking.

Dale was born while his dad was working for Ed Rodewald. He attended County school #16, a mile and a half from his home, until it closed then attended #4 in Thedford starting in the 7th&nbsp;grade.

Dale graduated from Thedford in 1966 and played football all of grade school and high school.&nbsp; At 240 pounds he was noticed for his football skills.&nbsp; He attended Denver Automotive for one year, then came home and worked at Thedford Sale Barn and Larson Hardware and Lumber Yard, where he was well known for handling 100-pound bags.&nbsp; Dale worked for Aunt Ida when his Uncle Vern died in 1970.&nbsp; He worked for Jim Drink Walter at Brownlee, then came home to work for his dad and the sale barn.

In 1979 he went to work for Kahoo’s in Tryon and he married his future wife Vivian I. (Bierma) Licking on July 17, 1982.&nbsp; Dale later worked for Hazel Hassi, Linda Kemp, Don Opplinger, and Underground Cable Specialists.

During the 70’s, Dale was a member of the Licking wild horse team. He was one of the first Nebraskan’s to wild horse race at Cheyenne Frontier Days.&nbsp; He was an outstanding mugger on the team, once he got a hand on the horse, the horse gave up. It was like tying a horse to a REA pole.&nbsp; Dale’s biggest joys were riding his horses and doing his haying.

In 1983, Dale and Vivian bought their home in Tryon and lived there at the present time.&nbsp; Dale was a member of the McPherson County Volunteer Fire Department for many years until his passing.

Dale is survived by his wife, Vivian of Tryon; sons, CL (Amy) Bellew of Hershey, Shawn (Fiancée-Rhonda) Bellew of Tryon, Beau C. Licking of Wauneta; grandchildren, Kyle Joseph Bellew, Audrey Ann Bellew, Shawn David Bellew II, Terry Layne Bellew; siblings, Mary “Sis” (Earl) Feyerherm of Norfolk, Don (Linda) Licking of North Platte, Dennis (Karen) Licking of Tryon, Richard (Tanna) Licking Seneca, Barbara (Dave) Praeuner of Battle Creek; brother-in-laws, David (Barbara) Bierma and Dale (Marrietta)Bierma.&nbsp;

Neva L. Hasbrouck, age 65, of Belle Fourche, South Dakota was born on March 1, 1955 and passed away on June 27, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Neva was an avid crafter, loved flea markets and auctions.&nbsp; Her greatest love was for her grandchildren.&nbsp; She loved to attend their many events, from dance to hockey.

Lorain L. “Wally” Woltemath, 67, of Lexington passed away at his home April 28, 2020.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;

Lorain L. Woltemath was born to Laverne and Eileen (Kracke) Woltemath on June 13, 1952 in Tecumseh, Nebraska.&nbsp; He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, rural Elk Creek, Nebraska.&nbsp; After a recent cancer diagnosis, Wally passed away at his home on April 28th, 2020 at the age of 67 years.&nbsp; Lorain&nbsp;grew up on the family farm and attended St. Peter’s Parochial School through the eighth grade and graduated from Elk Creek High with the Class of 1970.&nbsp; While in high school Lorain loved participating in football.&nbsp; After graduation, he started working for Dobson Construction of Lincoln where he got his nickname Wally and later transferred to Paulsen’s Construction of Cozad where he retired as a highway superintendent.&nbsp;

He was married to Jennett Peters on Nov. 27, 1971.&nbsp; To this union two sons were born, Tony and Scott. Wally was united in marriage to Mary Clouse on Sept. 4, 1987.&nbsp; Wally was blessed with the addition of another son, Michael and daughters Andrea and Melissa.&nbsp; Mary and Wally made their home near Lexington where they raised their family.&nbsp;

Wally’s quote from his senior year was “No man was ever great without divine inspiration.” The quote could not be more fitting as that is how he lived his life. Wally loved working “out on the road” and worked for nearly 50 years laying asphalt and building roads all over Nebraska.&nbsp; He loved being outdoors and was always a hard worker and made many relationships during his time working for Paulsen’s.&nbsp; When he wasn’t doing road construction, Wally loved gardening, yard work, fishing, hunting, building snowmen with the grandkids, being at the duck/goose blind, and spending time with his family.&nbsp; He was an avid Nebraska Husker football fan, and for many years worked security on Saturdays at Memorial Stadium, holding ropes for the team as they went on and off the field, which he thoroughly enjoyed.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Mary Woltemath of Lexington; sons: Tony Woltemath and significant other Brenda Norris of Bangor, MA, Scott Woltemath of Ashland, Michael Woltemath and wife Kaitlyn of Cozad; daughters: Andrea Miller of Lexington and Melissa Callahan of Lexington; adopted children: Rhett Rhone of Lexington and Addison Callahan of Lexington; mother, Eileen Woltemath of Tecumseh, brother, Roger Woltemath and wife Nancy of Elk Creek, sisters: Annette Ottemann of Johnson, Carol Rieken and husband Ken of Tecumseh and Lori Hoemann and husband Jim of Lincoln, 16 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and friends.

Wally was preceded in death by his father, Laverne, his father-in-law, Robert Clouse&nbsp;and mother-in-law Violet Clouse; brother-in-laws, Ken Ottemann, Paul Clouse, Peter Clouse, John Clouse, and sister-in-law Theresa Clouse.

A Celebration Of Life service will be held Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastor Rob Kuefner, officiating.

Inurnment will be in the St. Patrick's Cemetery at Eddyville, Nebraska.

Memorials can be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church, Ducks Unlimited, and a college fund for the two adopted children.

Woltemath was born to Laverne and Eileen (Kracke) Woltemath on June 13, 1952 in Tecumseh, Nebraska.&nbsp; He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, rural Elk Creek, Nebraska.&nbsp; After a recent cancer diagnosis, Wally passed away at his home on April 28th, 2020 at the age of 67 years.&nbsp; Lorain&nbsp;grew up on the family farm and attended St. Peter’s Parochial School through the eighth grade and graduated from Elk Creek High with the Class of 1970.&nbsp; While in high school Lorain loved participating in football.&nbsp; After graduation, he started working for Dobson Construction of Lincoln where he got his nickname Wally and later transferred to Paulsen’s Construction of Cozad where he retired as a highway superintendent.&nbsp;He was married to Jennett Peters on Nov. 27, 1971.&nbsp; To this union two sons were born, Tony and Scott.
