Orrin Dean Brooks, age 76, of North Platte, died March 8, 2020 at
Great Plains Health.  He was born March 15, 1943 in Arnold, NE to
Lawrence and Mabel (Wood) Brooks.  Dean graduated from Brady High
School.  He married Anita Smith, and to this union 3 children were
born, Gary, Gerald, and Brenda.

Dean entered the US Army and served for 6 years, serving in Vietnam. 
After his discharge, he returned to North Platte, where he hired out
with UPRR as a carman in 1968. He continued until his retirement in
2003. In 1996, Dean married Barbara Hengen in North Platte.

Dean enjoyed
working on cars and was very mechanical.  He liked to fish in his
younger years and enjoyed reading.

Survivors include
his wife Barb of North Platte; 3 children, Gary (Brenda) Brooks,
Gerald Brooks, and Brenda (William) Hills, all of North Platte; step
children, Amy Howery, and Brad (Tami) Howery, both of North Platte;
11 grandchildren, Autin Brooks, Kylin Brooks, Jessica Reed, Nathan
Davis, Taylor Hills, Cameron Hills, Jonathon Keneipp, Rebecca
Keneipp, Nathan Howery, Breanna Wade, and Wyatt Howery; 5 great
grandchildren, Madison Reed, Aurora, John, Carson, and Quinton Davis;
a sister, Gloria (Darwin) Grooms of Bassett; and several other family
members and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and a
brother Roger Brooks.  Memorials may be directed to the Make a Wish
Foundation, or to the Goodfellow Shoe Fund.

10:00 a.m. Wednesday March 11, 2020 at Adams &amp; Swanson Chapel
with the Rev. James Trippett officiating.  Casual attire is requested
for the service.  Inurnment will be at Fort McPherson National
Cemetery with military honors.  Visitation will be Tuesday March 10,
2020 from 12-8, with the family receiving friends from 6-8, at Adams
&amp; Swanson Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Orrin Dean Brooks (1943-2020



Roy Ervin 'Bud' Booker, 83, of North Platte, passed away at Centennial&nbsp;Care Retirement Village in North Platte on Saturday, March 7, 2020.

Roy was born February 22,&nbsp; 1937, to Dean and Mattie (Klinkman) Booker in&nbsp;Callaway, NE.&nbsp; He grew up on a farm outside of Callaway until the family&nbsp;moved into town his freshman year. Roy went on to graduate from Callaway&nbsp;High School in 1955.

He worked for Arrow Seed Company, Kansas-Nebraska Gas Company and the&nbsp;Co-op in Arnold until he hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad,&nbsp;working as a sheet metal worker until he retired.

On September 1, 1957, Roy was united in marriage to Wanda Joyce Harris&nbsp;in Broken Bow and the couple had five children.&nbsp; They lived in various&nbsp;Nebraska communities including Broken Bow, Ansley and Arnold until 1980&nbsp;when they settled in North Platte with Roy's job on the railroad.

Roy attended the North Platte Berean Church, was a past member of the&nbsp;Broken Bow Elks, and served as a volunteer fireman in Broken Bow, Ansley&nbsp;and Arnold.&nbsp; He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping and bowled on a&nbsp;league.&nbsp; In his later years, Roy liked going out to eat on Sundays and&nbsp;always loved watching his kids and grandkids play sports.&nbsp; He was a&nbsp;great handyman and a wonderful husband, dad and grandpa.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda, of North Platte; children, Mike&nbsp;(Paula) Booker, of Broken Bow, and Greg (Jill) Booker, Rod (Kerri)&nbsp;Booker and Marcie (Mike) Morrell, all of North Platte; grandchildren,&nbsp;Joshua (Lindsey) Booker, Tyler (Lexi) Booker, Morgan (Spencer) Olson,&nbsp;Brittany (Nick) Cox, Landon Booker, Logan Booker, Brandie Booker, Miles&nbsp;Morrell, Mattie Morrell and Melissa McTygue; nine great-grandchildren;&nbsp;sister, Rose Hirsch, of North Platte; brothers-in-law, Charles (Kathi)&nbsp;Harris, of Littleton, CO, and Rex (Jan) Harris, of Little Rock, AR;&nbsp;sisters-in-law, Shirley Reiker, of North Platte and Kerry (Jim) Slagle,&nbsp;of Fairfield, IA; as well as other family.

Roy was preceded in death by his infant son, Randall Roy Booker;&nbsp;parents, Dean and Mattie; brothers, Glen, Robert and Gerald Booker; and&nbsp;sisters, Marie Booker, Dorothy Morrison and Ruth Henderson.

Roy Ervin 'Bud' Booker (1937-2020



Carmen Quinonez, age 74, of North Platte passed away with her family by&nbsp;her side on Sunday, March 8, 2020.

Carmen was born July 17, 1945, to Rafael and Victoria (Godina) Martinez&nbsp;in Noria De Angeles, Zacatecas, Mexico.&nbsp; When she was 8 years old, the&nbsp;family moved to the United States, living in Texas, Washington then&nbsp;Nebraska.&nbsp; The family settled in Hershey in the late 1950's where Carmen&nbsp;grew up and attended school.

She worked for TRW in Ogallala and married David Angel Diaz. They moved&nbsp;to Kansas for a while then returned to Nebraska where they lived in&nbsp;North Platte. Carmen worked as a housekeeper at Howard Johnson's and was&nbsp;a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

On August 26, 2011, Carmen married Angel Quinonez in North Platte where&nbsp;they made their home.&nbsp; She was a collector of angels and plants and&nbsp;enjoyed cooking, playing Keno, listening to Spanish music and singing.&nbsp;&nbsp;She loved her family, especially her grand-kids, and being called&nbsp;"Grandma Carmen".

She leaves behind her husband, Angel, and sons, Henry Diaz (Brenda&nbsp;Christensen, David Diaz, Tony (Kari) Diaz and Chris Perez, all of North&nbsp;Platte, and Rogelio Diaz, of Lincoln; grandchildren, Sasha Diaz,&nbsp;Christian Diaz, Rylea Diaz, Angel Diaz and Rose Diaz; brothers, Ralph&nbsp;(Genoveva) Martinez, of Hershey, Phil Martinez, of North Platte, Frank&nbsp;Martinez, of Wood River, and Tony (Maya) Martinez, of Thatcher, Arizona;&nbsp;sisters, Kathy (Anthony) Michele, of Bellevue, and San Juana (Stuart)&nbsp;Marshall, Rosie (Martin) Rodriguez and Rita Martinez, all of North&nbsp;Platte; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and other family.&nbsp;Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, Rafael and Victoria&nbsp;Martinez; brother, Jerry Martinez; granddaughter, Cydney Diaz; her first&nbsp;husband, Angel Diaz; niece, Catina Martinez; and grandmother, Carlota&nbsp;Rodriguez.

Ruth was born in North Platte on April 27, 1960 to parents, Richard and Elizabeth (Knoll) Garner; she was the youngest of nine children.&nbsp; She graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1978.&nbsp; She married her best friend, Joe Brown on July 8, 1978.&nbsp; They raised two daughters, Suny and Chauncey, and four sons, Skye, Tel, Kaihden, and Alex.

Ruth was a passionate follower of Christ.&nbsp; She loved her church family at The Crossing Fellowship and was always sharing Christ’s love with everyone she met.&nbsp; Ruth loved to quilt and working on crafts. Her quilts were a true expression of her love for whomever received them.&nbsp; Ruth raised and bred Standard Poodles later in life.&nbsp; She was always so excited to find forever homes for her puppies and to bring joy to the families that took her puppies.&nbsp; Ruth worked for several years as a CNA/MedAid at Hilltop Estates.&nbsp; Ruth loved her residents and it showed in the work she did. &nbsp;

Survivors include her husband Joe Brown of Gothenburg; her daughter Suny Brown of Gothenburg; her son Skye (Brittany) Brown of Columbus; her daughter Chauncey Brown of Gothenburg; her son Tel (Paula) Brown of Gothenburg; her son Kaihden Brown of Lincoln; her son Alex Garner of Omaha; her siblings Gary (Phylis) Garner of Gothenburg; Ken (Deb) Garner of Chadron; Glenn (Stacey) Garner of Mullen; Al (Jeanie) Garner of Estes Park; Mary Ann (Nick) Rudloff of Crawford, Don (Carolyn) Garner of Sioux City; brothers-in-law Howard (Patty) Brown of Sidney and Tim (Tammy) Brown of Cozad; five grandchildren, Dewley, Paisley, Arya, Radley, and Faye and numerous nieces and nephews.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Thomas Lowell Brydon, age 59, of Grand Island, Nebraska, died March 3, 2020 at Emerald Care &amp; Rehab Center in Grand Island, Nebraska.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He was born February 19, 1961 in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, son of Donn Clair and Helen Kathryn (Grubb) Brydon. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Thomas grew up in Slippery Rock and graduated from Slippery Rock High School and later attended Slippery Rock University. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Thomas moved to Nebraska in 2011 to be closer to his remaining family.&nbsp; He made his home in the Cozad area until his health failed and he was moved to Grand Island.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He had an amazing sense of humor and enjoyed spending time reading his bible.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Survivors include his aunt, Darla McPaul of West Sunbury, Pennsylvania, his aunt, Lida Anne Grubb of Lexington, Nebraska, special cousin and caretaker Diane James of Gothenburg, Nebraska and her daughter Casey James of Gothenburg; along with numerous cousins and extended family and friends. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Thomas was preceded in death by father, Donn Clair Brydon, mother, Helen Kathryn Brydon, sister, Joanna, brother, Jonathon Brydon. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Thomas will be buried in the Slippery Rock Cemetery in Pennsylvania with his parents at a later date.&nbsp;

"Vera" Holmquist Keith, age 95, of North Platte passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2020 at Centennial Park Retirement Village in North Platte, Nebraska. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She was born on April 6, 1924 to&nbsp; Judith and Clairfay Martinez at Gretna, Louisiana. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Elvera married Roy Holmquist onOctober 27, 1940 in New Orleans, Louisiana.&nbsp; To this union 2 sons were born.&nbsp; She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and devoted to her faith and Holy Spirit Catholic Church.&nbsp; She married Fred Keith on March 3, 1981 in North Platte, Nebraska. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and has made lots of afghans through the years.&nbsp; She also loved making doilies and tablecloths for family and friends. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Elvera was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church where she was very involved in the activities there, and volunteered for local Cancer Survivors. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She worked at J.M. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Mary Lee Nichols, age 81, of North Platte, Nebraska died unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at Great Plains Health in North Platte. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Mary Lee was born in Norfolk, Nebraska on March 10, 1938 to Leo Martin and Florence Martha (Waechter) Prauner.&nbsp; She graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1956, then attended Norfolk Junior College, graduating in 1958.&nbsp; After her schooling, she went to work in Norfolk. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;On June 19, 1960, Mary Lee was united in marriage to Jack Lee Nichols at St. John's Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, Nebraska.&nbsp; The couple lived in Norfolk where Mary Lee stayed home with the kids.&nbsp; The family moved to Chadron, Nebraska in 1970, then to Morrill, Nebraska in 1987 with Jack's job on the railroad.&nbsp; They moved again in 1991 to North Platte, Nebraska where they have lived ever since. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Mary Lee was active in her church, Our Redeemer Lutheran, and the North Platte community where she helped with Meals on Wheels and Compassionate Friends.&nbsp; Jack and Mary Lee could often be seen at the Senior center on Wednesday evenings for the dances, he liked dancing and she liked watching. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Mary Lee loved gardening, nature watching, feeding the bird and dogs.&nbsp; She was a fan of Nebraska sports and enjoyed watching sports on television.&nbsp; She also like going to garage sales and thrift stores.&nbsp; Mary Lee was a great wife and mother who loved her family, especially her grandchildren. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She leaves behind her husband, Jack, and daughter Kimberly Nichols of North Platte; her son Jeff (Sarah) Nichols of Fredricksburg, Texas; grandchildren Elizabeth (Kevin) Clink, Robert J.M. Mary Lee Nichols  (1938 - 2020

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Dee Ann loved helping people and fully embraced a life full of action, caring and giving.&nbsp; She died in her McCullough Family home in Brady, Nebraska on Thursday, February 20, 2020 surrounded by her loving family and cats.&nbsp; Born March 9, 1939 in Newton, Kansas, she was preceded in death by her mother, Miriam McCullough Green and her father, John Dee Green.&nbsp; She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Lane Birkel, her four children Rebecca Birkel (Ronald Hancock) of Bettystown, Ireland, Jeffrey Birkel (Karla Dinh-Birkel) of Peoria, Illinois, Laura Desmarais (Tom) of San Mateo, California, and Mary Birkel (Jason Schneiderman) of Portola Valley, California; and six grandchildren, Katherine, Matthew, Michael, Andrew, Liam, and Finn. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Having graduated Brady High School in 1956, she went on to receive a B.S. in Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1961.&nbsp; From 1964 through 1970 she taught Physical Education part-time at Pius 10th High School in Lincoln, Nebraska where she is remembered for starting and coaching the Thunderettes girls dance team, which is still active today, over 50 years later.&nbsp; After moving to Muncie, Indiana in 1970, she joined her husband teaching at Ball State University, receiving a M.S. Degree in Education in 1975 and began her Ball State career as a P.E. Instructor in 1977.&nbsp; In 1985, she received the title of Assistant Professor after completing an additional 46 hours of graduate studies.&nbsp; She was best known for starting the Yoga Program at Ball State, having personally instructed over 6,000 students in her career.&nbsp; It quickly became the most popular and desired class on campus and she was voted Ball State's favorite professor by the student body.&nbsp; Dee Ann was also very active in exercise and health for older adults, having initiated the minors program for Physical Activity for Older Adults.&nbsp; She was an author of the first Hatha Yoga college text book "Hatha Yoga: Developing the Body, Mind, and Inner Self" and the book "Forever Fit: A Step by Step Guide for the Older Adult."&nbsp; She started the exercise program for Ball State University retirees and gave many, many talks, conference presentations, and publications too numerous to list during the course of her 24 year teaching career.&nbsp; She and her husband retired together in 2001 and moved to her childhood home in Brady, Nebraska.&nbsp; In 2005 she began her quest to found the Brady Public Library which opened in 2007 and where she also served as one of the librarians until 2017. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 2, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in North Platte, Nebraska officiated by the Reverend Joshua Brown with burial in the McCullough Family Cemetery just south of Maxwell, Nebraska.&nbsp; Visitation will be on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte, Nebraska from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Rosary following at 7:00 p.m.&nbsp; Memorials in Dee Ann's honor may be made to the Brady Public Library or the Alzheimer's Association. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Dee Ann will be missed by many, but her memory and actions will live on in the lives of all the people she touched throughout her life.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Beverly Ann Claus Dismukes, age 79, passed away from her Earthly journey into her Heavenly Home on February 27, 2020 at Linden Court in North Platte, Nebraska.&nbsp; She was born on December 4, 1940 to Arthur and Faye (Bradford) Claus in North Platte, Nebraska.&nbsp; She was raised in North Platte along with her sister, Peggy jean.&nbsp; Beverly graduated from North Platte High School and later graduated from Hastings College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music.&nbsp; After college graduation, she continued her education at both the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the University of Nebraska-Kearney. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Beverly began teaching elementary music in 1964 in the North Platte Public School System.&nbsp; She retired from teaching in May 2000.&nbsp; She has shared her love of music by teaching piano lessons to generations of children in North Platte and the surrounding communities. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Beverly was married to Arthur F. Dismukes, Jr in North Platte on June 21, 1985.&nbsp; She was active in Music Educators Nebraska Conference, Delta Kappa Gamma, Eastern Star, and B.P.O.E. Does, and the First United Methodist Church. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Survivors include a nephew, Edwin W. Jerald 'Buzz' Francis Goedert, 81, of Sutherland, died at Oshkosh on&nbsp;Tuesday, February 25, 2020.

Jerry was born in North Platte on April 24, 1938, the first of Raymond&nbsp;and Evelyn (Schrotberger) Goedert's four children.&nbsp; The family lived in&nbsp;Paxton then moved out to the family farm south of Sutherland in 1940,&nbsp;where Jerry grew up.&nbsp; He graduated from Sutherland High School in 1956 then attended Kearney State College before joining the U.S. Army in 1959.

Jerry was stationed at Camp Kaiser in Unchon, South Korea, where he&nbsp;worked as a radio operator. Following his honorable discharge in 1962,&nbsp;Jerry returned to Sutherland to work on the family farm. He had a&nbsp;lifelong interest in farming and the wheat harvest was an event he&nbsp;looked forward to each year. Jerry also enjoyed maintaining farm&nbsp;equipment and the vehicles of his family and friends.

Farming wasn't Jerry's only occupation, he also had a career with the&nbsp;U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier for both the Sutherland and&nbsp;Paxton areas which spanned over 30 years. Jerry safely logged over a&nbsp;million miles on the road which led to him being inducted into the&nbsp;National Safety Council's Million Mile Club. Jerry was honored by this&nbsp;recognition and very proud of his perfect driving record.

After retiring from the U.S. Postal Service, Jerry spent several years&nbsp;working in the paint department at Walmart in North Platte. In his spare&nbsp;time, he enjoyed morning coffee and visiting with his friends.&nbsp; Jerry&nbsp;was happiest when he was around people. He was a great practical joker&nbsp;and loved to laugh.&nbsp; He also loved to travel when he was younger and&nbsp;later became an avid armchair traveler. On his travels, he collected&nbsp;many friends and happy memories. He loved meeting new people and sharing&nbsp;stories. No one was a stranger to him and the world is a less friendly&nbsp;place without him.

Jerry was the loving father of John (Jacquie) Goedert, of Dallas,&nbsp;Georgia, Mary Ellen (Paul) Neff, of Arlington Heights, Illinois, and Amy&nbsp;Goedert, of Belleville, Wisconsin; cherished grandfather to Zoe, John,&nbsp;and James; dear brother of Jean Burmester and Mary Ann (Ken) Schroeder,&nbsp;of North Platte, and Suzanne (Dan) Heim, of Denver, Colorado; special&nbsp;friend to Marilyn Howerter; and devoted 'Uncle Buzzy' to many nieces and&nbsp;nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Evelyn Goedert;&nbsp;brother-in-law, Jack Burmester; niece, Julie (Burmester) DeForrest; and&nbsp;nephew, Tyler Heim.

Jerald 'Buzz' Francis Goedert (1938-2020



On Monday, February 24, 2020, we said good-bye to Rusty Joe Moore, a&nbsp;beloved family man, rancher and coach from Mullen, Nebraska, who died at the age of 46 following a two year battle with cancer.

Rusty was born to Don and Carol (Thomsen) Moore in North Platte on&nbsp;December 24, 1973.&nbsp; He grew up on the family ranch in McPherson County&nbsp;and graduated from Tryon High School in 1992 then attended Nebraska&nbsp;Wesleyan University in Lincoln, graduating in 1996.&nbsp; While in college,&nbsp;Rusty competed in track and was on the National Championship 4 x 400&nbsp;relay team, earning him All-American honors.

On March 16, 1996, Rusty married Jennifer Lynn Guthrie in Kearney and&nbsp;they made their home on the ranch in Tryon where they raised their four&nbsp;children.

Rusty loved ranching and had a natural instinct with cattle; his work&nbsp;was also his hobby.&nbsp; When not ranching, he enjoyed watching sports,&nbsp;especially watching his kids participate.&nbsp; Rusty also loved being a&nbsp;coach.&nbsp; He coached football at Tryon and later basketball at Mullen.&nbsp; In&nbsp;2017 Coach Moore helped lead the Mullen boys' basketball team to its&nbsp;first ever State title.&nbsp; He retired from coaching in February 2018 due&nbsp;to his illness but his fans continued to support him with their "Rally&nbsp;for Rusty" campaign.

Rusty was a member of the Mullen United Methodist Church.&nbsp; In his free&nbsp;time he liked to fish and enjoyed visiting with family, friends and&nbsp;colleagues; he never knew a stranger.&nbsp; Rusty especially loved his family&nbsp;and being with them.

He leaves behind his wife, Jennifer, their children, Lance, Samantha,&nbsp;Clayton and Tierston, and his parents, Don and Carol Moore, all of&nbsp;Tryon; sisters, Kerri (Tony) Miller, of Kearney and Marty (Les) Griess,&nbsp;of Grand Island; brothers, Jeff (Rayan) Moore, of North Platte and&nbsp;Justin (Bri) Moore, of Mullen; parents-in-law, Cecil and Donna Guthrie,&nbsp;of Holdrege; sisters-in-law, Shawna (Scott) Johnsen, of Curtis and Jill&nbsp;(Tyler) Schmidt, of Holdrege; as well as other family, friends and his&nbsp;student athletes.

Rusty was preceded in death by his grandparents, Herschel and Nona Moore&nbsp;and Vernon 'Tom' and Ethel Thomsen; niece, Danika Moore; and&nbsp;sister-in-law, Heather Albright.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. (MT) on Monday, March 2, 2020,&nbsp;at the Mullen High School Hilltop Gym (the new gym). On Monday, February 24, 2020, we said good-bye to Rusty Joe Moore, a&nbsp;beloved family man, rancher and coach from Mullen, Nebraska, who died at the age of 46 following a two year battle with cancer.Rusty was born to Don and Carol (Thomsen) Moore in North Platte on&nbsp;December 24, 1973.&nbsp; He grew up on the family ranch in McPherson County&nbsp;and graduated from Tryon High School in 1992 then attended Nebraska&nbsp;Wesleyan University in Lincoln, graduating in 1996.&nbsp; While in college,&nbsp;Rusty competed in track and was on the National Championship 4 x 400&nbsp;relay team, earning him All-American honors.On March 16, 1996, Rusty married Jennifer Lynn Guthrie in Kearney and&nbsp;they made their home on the ranch in Tryon where they raised their four&nbsp;children.Rusty loved ranching and had a natural instinct with cattle; his work&nbsp;was also his hobby.&nbsp; When not ranching, he enjoyed watching sports,&nbsp;especially watching his kids participate.&nbsp; Rusty also loved being a&nbsp;coach.&nbsp; He coached football at Tryon and later basketball at Mullen.&nbsp; In&nbsp;2017 Coach Moore helped lead the Mullen boys' basketball team to its&nbsp;first ever State title.&nbsp; He retired from coaching in February 2018 due&nbsp;to his illness but his fans continued to support him with their "Rally&nbsp;for Rusty" campaign.Rusty was a member of the Mullen United Methodist Church.&nbsp; In his free&nbsp;time he liked to fish and enjoyed visiting with family, friends and&nbsp;colleagues; he never knew a stranger.&nbsp; Rusty especially loved his family&nbsp;and being with them.He leaves behind his wife, Jennifer, their children, Lance, Samantha,&nbsp;Clayton and Tierston, and his parents, Don and Carol Moore, all of&nbsp;Tryon; sisters, Kerri (Tony) Miller, of Kearney and Marty (Les) Griess,&nbsp;of Grand Island; brothers, Jeff (Rayan) Moore, of North Platte and&nbsp;Justin (Bri) Moore, of Mullen; parents-in-law, Cecil and Donna Guthrie,&nbsp;of Holdrege; sisters-in-law, Shawna (Scott) Johnsen, of Curtis and Jill&nbsp;(Tyler) Schmidt, of Holdrege; as well as other family, friends and his&nbsp;student athletes.Rusty was preceded in death by his grandparents, Herschel and Nona Moore&nbsp;and Vernon 'Tom' and Ethel Thomsen; niece, Danika Moore; and&nbsp;sister-in-law, Heather Albright.Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. (MT) on Monday, March 2, 2020,&nbsp;at the Mullen High School Hilltop Gym (the new gym). Rusty Joe Moore (1973-2020

Alta Maxine McIntosh, age 100 of Mullen formerly of Whitman passed away at Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Mullen, NE on February 23, 2020 with family by her side. 

She was born on November 13, 1919 at Keyapaha, South Dakota to Jess and Myrtle (Hollingshead) Casteel being the eighth of ten children, six brothers and three sisters. 

She graduated from Junior High School in Long Pine, Nebraska on May 17, 1934 and from High School in Long Pine, Nebraska on May 28, 1937. 

On March 20, 1938 she was married to Jeremiah (Jerry) C. Geist in Long Pine, NE and to this union two children were born. The family moved to Hyannis, NE and then in the summer of 1944, Alta moved to the Mullen, NE area with her children and then moved to Whitman, NE. 

After moving to Whitman, she operated a small café serving ranchers delivering cattle to Whitman to be shipped out by rail and also for railroad track crews performing major track upgrades on the CB&amp;Q RR. She then went to work at the IGA grocery store in Whitman. 

In 1955 she married Clifford E. McIntosh and to this union one son was born. She was employed as a postal clerk at the Whitman Post Office in 1965 and eventually became Postmaster and held that position until retirement on November 1, 1999. In addition to serving on the Whitman School Board for a period of time. She was a charter member of the Whitman Women’s Club; member of the Whitman Cemetery Board; member of National Association of Postmasters of the US (NAPUS) an a member of the Hyannis Chamber of Commerce and Hyannis Eagles Auxiliary.

On June 2, 1963 Alta was Baptized according to the Discipline of the Methodist Church in Whitman, NE by Pastor Earl H. Reed and on May 17, 1964 received full membership into the Whitman Methodist Community Church.

Alta enjoyed traveling and attending NAPUS Conventions which were held in major cities throughout the US. She also loved trips to the Rosebud Casino and was the type of person who never considered anyone to be a stranger. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Cliff McIntosh as well as her parents, and her six brothers, and three sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Delores (Leroy) Evans of Whitman; sons Richard A (RaeAnne) Geist of Alliance, NE and Clifford (Butch) M. McIntosh of Broken Bow, NE as well as twelve grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, and twenty-one great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three step-great-grandchildren and six step-great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Alta McIntosh will be held on Friday, February 28, 2020 at 11:00 AM MT at the Mullen United Methodist Church in Mullen with Pastor Insung Kim officiating. Burial will be in the Whitman Cemetery. Mullen Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. A visitation will be held on Thursday February 27, 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Mullen Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Whitman cemetery or the Mullen EMT’s.

Mary Middleton McBride  (age 88

Irene Faye Athey, 77, of North Platte, formerly of Gothenburg passed away Wednesday, February 19 at her home in North Platte.

A Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at the First Presbyterian Church in Gothenburg with Pastor David Boyd officiating.

She was born on July 21, 1942 to Ora and Elsie (Tiderman) Dorman at McCune, KS. She grew up on the family farm North of Gothenburg.

Irene Dorman married Jesse Athey on July 27, 1963: to this union two daughters and a son were born. She later made her home in Gothenburg in 1983 and moved to North Platte about 5 years ago.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Gothenburg and the Red Hat Society.

Irene enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and friends. She enjoyed quilting, painting, playing piano, bowling, cooking and scrapbooking.

Survivors include her Children, Sonja (George) Campbell of North Platte, Jeffrey (Debra) Athey of Gothenburg, Jana (John) Steger of Sterling, AK; grandchildren, Andy Jr (Cassie) Dishman, Serrita (Charlie) Allen, Christopher Athey, Starlita Dobbins, Nathan (Jerrica) Woods, Joshua Weir, Tonni Keith, Thomas Campbell, and Kayla Steger; Great-grandchildren- Georgina, Quinton, Dominique, Gage, Kevryck, Kaela, Lily, Gracie, Addie, Aubrieann, Rayna, Angelyn, Mykenzie, James and Charlee; and her sisters, Alice (Lawrence) McCain of Gothenburg and Glenna Ozanne of Cozad.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ora and Elsie Dorman; an infant sister, Marilyn; and Jesse Athey.

Mary Jo Brauer  (1940-2020

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;George O. Davis, formerly of Cave Springs, Arkansas, died on February 10, 2020 at Maples-Har-Bar Meadows in Springdale Arkansas at the age of 88 years and 11 months.&nbsp; He was born on March 10, 1931 in Brule, Nebraska to the late George O'Brien and Hester Lucy (Butterfield) Davis. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;George graduated from the Brule High School in 1948.&nbsp; George married Mary Jane Drost, mother of his nine children, on July 20, 1950.&nbsp; He was a master carpenter.&nbsp; He was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus, active in Catholic Cursillo, 47 years of sobriety, and helped many other alcoholics achieve sobriety. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;George is survived by his nine children, Scott (Marcy) Davis, Shanny Davis, Chris (Leasa) Davis, Linda Roggow, Marty (Donna) Davis, Tricia (Ted) Ferguson, Michael (Joan) Davis, Kelly (Marianne) Davis, and Andy (Angela) Davis and their mother, Janie Davis; nephews and niece Scott, Mike and Stephen (Sharon) Stafford and Lise (Bryon) Russ; 28 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild; along with numerous nieces and nephews.&nbsp; George is also survived by Marie Davis, whom he married on December 25, 1987 and her children, Eddie Bowers and Christine Craig. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;George was preceded in death by his only sister, Beth Marie Stafford; son-in-law, Dwight Roggow; and a granddaughter, Leslie Davis. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Memorials are suggested in his name and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Mountain Time on February 28, 2020 preceded by a Rosary at 10:00 a.m. Mountain time at All Saints Catholic Church in Hyannis, Nebraska with the Reverends Stephen Deaver, Vijumon Choorackal, and Deacon Michael Davis officiating.&nbsp; Christian burial of cremated remains will follow at the Ashby Cemetery in Ashby, Nebraska.&nbsp; Those wishing to sign the register book may do so from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Adams &amp; Swanson Funeral Home at 421 West 4th Street in North Platte, Nebraska, which is assisting the family with arrangements.

George O. Davis  (1931-2020

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Donna Fae Russell Brase, age 93, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away on February 18, 2020 at Great Plains Health in North Platte. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Donna was born on April 11, 1926 in Valparaiso, Nebraska to Oris Fay and Eva Merle (Betts) Russell. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Donna moved to Grand Island, Nebraska in 1931.&nbsp; She graduated from Grand Island High School with the Class of 1943.&nbsp; Donna moved to North Platte, Nebraska in 1944 where she worked for Bell Telephone Company until 1952.&nbsp; On August 8, 1948, Donna married Eugene W. Brase at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in North Platte.&nbsp; Donna and Gene owned and operated Brase Distributing for 49 years.&nbsp; Donna also helped keep the books until 1980. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Donna will be remembered for her servant's heart.&nbsp; Over the next 40 years, Donna volunteered at the Thrift Center, the Senior Center, and spent countless hours volunteering for RSVP (Ready to Serve Volunteer Program) in North Platte.&nbsp; Donna and Gene were recipients of the Leonard Hirschfeld Award in 1993 and Donna was most recently awarded the Buffalo Bill Cody Volunteer Award. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Survivors include sons, Scott (Mary Collins and Mary's son, Keaton) Brase of Grants Pass, Oregon and Brett (Jill) Brase of Fort Collins, Colorado; grandchildren Alison (Josh) McGinley, Sarah (Cody) Knobel, and Jack Brase, all of Fort Collins, Colorado; great-grandchildren Everly and Nora McGinley; a sister, Clarice Barrett of North Platte; and several other family members and many friends. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gene; and a brother, Dale. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Thrift Store, Senior Center, or to RSVP, and can be sent to Adams &amp; Swanson Funeral Home.&nbsp; Online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;A private family service has been planned, but those wishing to sign the register book may do so on Friday, February 21, 2020 at Adams &amp; Swanson Funeral Home, 421 West 4th Street in North Platte, from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Donna Fae Russell Brase  (1926 - 2020

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Melvin F. Werkmeister, 92 years old, of Maywood, Nebraska, passed away on February 16, 2020 in McCook, Nebraska. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Melvin was born on January 29, 1928 to Adolph and Ella (Klug) Werkmeister in Hayes County, Nebraska.&nbsp; He was one of nine children.&nbsp; Melvin attended the Valley School in Hayes County where he graduated from the 8th Grade. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;After school he worked on the family farm.&nbsp; In 1946, he was drafted into the United States Army during WWII.&nbsp; He served his time in Japan guarding prisoners.&nbsp; He was honorable discharged from the military in 1947.&nbsp; Melvin returned home to Hayes County where he continued farming.&nbsp; When he wasn't farming, you could find him playing baseball.&nbsp; He played on the teams for Quick, Maywood &amp; White.&nbsp; Melvin also played baseball on a team in&nbsp; Japan. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;On June 17, 1950, he married Lucille Large at Culbertson, Nebraska.&nbsp; they were blessed with four children; Alvin, Allan, Verneta, and Julie.&nbsp; He continued to play baseball after the children were born.&nbsp; He also enjoyed listening to polka music, playing cards, and big family get-togethers.&nbsp; Melvin was on a Men's Bowling League and a men's trap shooting team. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Melvin took pride in his farming and loved working the land.&nbsp; Melvin retired from farming in 1998.&nbsp; He and Lucille then moved into Maywood, Nebraska.&nbsp; You can take the boy out of the country, but you couldn't take the country out of the boy!&nbsp; Melvin continued to drive out to the farm and helped Alvin and Allan for many years.&nbsp; He enjoyed his country drives, which he did until the last year of his life.&nbsp; He and Lucille loved having family stop by.&nbsp; They would always be at the window waving when you got there and waving again when you left.&nbsp; The highlight of their later years was having the grandkids show up with all the great-grandkids in tow.&nbsp; Out would come the little red wagon loaded with toys.&nbsp; The kids always knew there would be cookies and ice cream! &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Melvin was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Lucille; his parents, brothers and sisters-in-law, Leo &amp; Jean Werkmeister, Max &amp; Donna Werkmeister; brothers, Earnest, Elgie and Raymond; a sister, Darlene Werkmeister; and a brother-in-law, Chet Bennett. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Melvin is survived by his sons, Alvin (Sina Jo) of Maywood, Nebraska and Allan of Curtis, Nebraska; his daughters, Verneta Werkmeister of Maywood, Nebraska and Julie (Kevin) Johnson of Keensburg, Colorado.&nbsp; He is also survived by six grandchildren and 16 great granchildren: Bobbi (Lance) Dilfer, Shelby &amp; Jared; Luke (Lisa) Werkmeister, Ryan Steven, Katelyn, Nathan &amp; Joslyn; Marc (Jessica) Werkmeister, Britton, Berkely, &amp; Wallace; Jayde (Gary) Koch, Rosie &amp; Ezekiel; Christopher (Michelle) Werkmeister, Winston, Gertis, Prudence &amp; Lennon; and Michael (Dani) Werkmeister; sisters, Lois Bennet of Niwot, Colorado and Arlene Werkmeister of Longmont Colorado; sisters-in-law, Betty Werkmeister of Maywood, Nebraska, Pat Werkmeister of California, Roberta Werkmeister of Palisade, Nebraska; along with many extended family members and friends. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Visitation will be held at Blase-Wetzel-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Curtis, Nebraska on Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Graveside Services will be held at Maywood Cemetery in Maywood, Nebraska on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Military Honors.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Memorials may be given to the Maywood Community Center of the donor's choice.
