Lyla Frances Blevins, age 89, of Gandy passed away February 11, 2020 at the Belmont Village Senior Living Community in Carol Stream, IL near Chicago.  

She was born on October 3, 1930 in Logan County to Floyd and Mabel (Dickerson) Fowler.

Lyla graduated from Gandy High School in 1947.  She had a love of horses and was crowned Burwell Rodeo Queen.  On December 8, 1950 she married Donald Allen Blevins at the Presbyterian Church in Stapleton.  She taught school in a one room schoolhouse northeast of Gandy.  She and Don purchased a farm near Gandy in 1953 which became the Lazy DL Ranch, that the two owned and operated.

Lyla was a member of the Cornerstone Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday School for over 60 years, served as an elder in the church, and was a member of the Mariners.  She was very involved in 4-H when the kids were young and enjoyed bowling on leagues in Stapleton.  She was supportive of her children’s activities and was very creative, enjoying crafts and puzzles and was a Nebraska football fan.  Lyla will always be remembered for her dedication to her community, her church, and her family.

Survivors include her children, Donald (Debbie) Blevins of Norfolk, Dennis (LaVonne) Blevins of Woodland Park, CO, and Linda (Adair) Smith of West Chicago, IL; grandchildren Brooke (Todd) Hartbecke of Sioux Center, IA, Traci (Trevor) Summeril of Woodland Park, CO, Melissa Blevins of Kansas City, MO, Stephen (Kinisha) Blevins of Woodland Park, CO, Angela (Chase) Rogers of St. Charles, IL, Michael (Chantella) Blevins of Colorado Springs, CO, Aaron Smith of Cleveland, OH, and Adam Smith of West Chicago, IL,&nbsp;18 great grandchildren; sister, Joyce Schaeffer of Stapleton; numerous other family members; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; 9 brothers and sisters; nephews, David Blevins and Dale Miles; and nieces, Ruth Beckius and Esther Fowler.

Don and Lyla have supported missions faithfully over the years, especially through their granddaughter Melissa (Missy) Blevins who continues to serve full time with OneEleven Global. OneEleven Global is a non-profit missions organization that trains, disciples, and sends missionaries throughout five continents. The organization partners with the local church, serves with them, and equips them in prayer and missions to send out laborers who go forth with the good news of Christ. Jeff shocked the hell out of his family and friends with his sudden departure on Feb. 13, 2020, at Bryan Medical Center in Lincoln. His heart was so full of love (and infection) that it just could not go on.

Jeff was born on July 16, 1979, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He moved to North Platte when he was a small child and resided there until his death. He graduated from North Platte High School in 1997. He then worked at Shopko, the Do-It Center, Walmart DC and most recently, O’Reilly Auto Parts.

Jeff was wicked smart and quick with a pun or comeback. He was always the winner of Trivial Pursuit and willing to talk you into philosophical circles.

Jeff was preceded in death by his grandparents, Virg and Jan Heimbuch and Duane Befort; as well as his fiancee, Lisa Alexander.

Left to mourn him are his parents, Sue (Heimbuch) and Lyle Yanken of North Platte, and Rex Befort of Cheyenne, Wyoming; his sisters Molly (Brandon) Freeze of North Platte and Kiersten (Chad) Hill of Seward; nephew Cooper Hill of Seward; grandparents, Erma and Gary Torske of Cheyenne and Beverly Befort of North Platte; his fiancée, Nadine Little Florea of North Platte, and her sons Zeik and Jebb Florea; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

There will never be another like Jeff. He came into this world during a tornado and left in a blizzard. His organs were donated to live on in another.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Michael John Clary, age 43, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away on February 14, 2020 at his home.&nbsp; He was born on January 27, 1977 to Terri Clary.&nbsp; He was young when his mother Terri died, so his grandparents, Bill and June Clary, raised him and he adored them. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Michael grew up in Oklahoma, which made him a huge Oklahoma State Cowboys fan.&nbsp; After graduation from Perkins, Oklahoma High School, he entered the U.S. Navy in 1995, serving in California, Virginia and Iceland.&nbsp; He retired from the Navy at NAS Lemoore on May 7, 2015. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Michael married Wendy Purcell on November 21, 2011 in North Platte, Nebraska.&nbsp; The couple lived in Camarillo, California and then moved to Lemoore.&nbsp; After retirement, they moved to North Platte.&nbsp; He worked as a carman at Union Pacific Railroad and at Lee Bird Field Airport. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He had a great sense of humor, loved to tease and always tried to lighten the mood.&nbsp; He was very protective of his family, especially his girls and went by the nickname 'Mikaroni' by his daughters and their friends.&nbsp; Michael was a member of 'Buddy Check' where veterans meet at the Cedar Bowl. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Survivors include his wife Wendy of North Platte; three daughters, Haley, Hannah, and Brittany; nephew Austin; aunts, Ida Cooksey, Sue Williams, Willamina Kaori, and Jeanne Laboray; dog dad of three, Bear, Chloe and Bobo; numerous other family members and many friends. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Services will be at 4:00 p.m. on February 19, 2020 at Adams &amp; Swanson Funeral Home, at 421 West 4th Street in North Platte, with inurnment at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, Nebraska.&nbsp; Adams &amp; Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Michael John Clary (1977 - 2020

Julie Kaye Maske, 49, of Grand Island, formerly of Hershey, died at home February 10, 2020.

Julie was born February 26, 1970, to Billie John and Phyllis Raye&nbsp;(Elliott) Reed at Red Cloud, NE.&nbsp; She grew up in Hershey where she&nbsp;attended school and was confirmed at the Hershey United Methodist&nbsp;Church.&nbsp; When she was in the 10th grade, the Reed family moved to&nbsp;Camarillo, CA, where Julie graduated from Camarillo High School in&nbsp;1988.&nbsp; She then worked in customer service jobs and as a bookkeeper&nbsp;before getting married.

Julie married Kevin Maske in 1989 at Las Vegas before he enlisted.&nbsp;&nbsp;After his discharge from the Army, Julie and Kevin settled in Grand&nbsp;Island where they both worked for Swift.&nbsp; Julie stopped working in 2015&nbsp;due to health issues.

She had a love for reading, painting and learning.&nbsp; She also enjoyed&nbsp;cooking, walking, kayaking, playing word games and making birdhouses.&nbsp;

Julie especially loved her family and her dog, Loki, but definitely did&nbsp;not like to shop.&nbsp; She was taken too soon but will always be remembered&nbsp;for her sense of humor.

She is survived by her parents, Billie and Phyllis Reed, of Hershey;&nbsp;daughter, Reece Maske, and her dad, Kevin Maske, both of Grand Island;&nbsp;sisters, Cindy (Reed) Kuroki and Lucie Reed, of Hershey, and Helene&nbsp;Baustian, of Fremont; brothers, Nick (Denise) Reed, of Sutherland,&nbsp;Darrell (Irma) Reed, of St. Francis, KS, Billie (Tammie) Reed, of North&nbsp;Platte and Pat (Lorie) Reed, of Salina, KS; and other family.

Julie Kaye Maske, 49, of Grand Island, formerly of Hershey, died at home February 10, 2020.Julie was born February 26, 1970, to Billie John and Phyllis Raye&nbsp;(Elliott) Reed at Red Cloud, NE.&nbsp; She grew up in Hershey where she&nbsp;attended school and was confirmed at the Hershey United Methodist&nbsp;Church.&nbsp; When she was in the 10th grade, the Reed family moved to&nbsp;Camarillo, CA, where Julie graduated from Camarillo High School in&nbsp;1988.&nbsp; She then worked in customer service jobs and as a bookkeeper&nbsp;before getting married.Julie married Kevin Maske in 1989 at Las Vegas before he enlisted.&nbsp;&nbsp;After his discharge from the Army, Julie and Kevin settled in Grand&nbsp;Island where they both worked for Swift.&nbsp; Julie stopped working in 2015&nbsp;due to health issues.She had a love for reading, painting and learning.&nbsp; She also enjoyed&nbsp;cooking, walking, kayaking, playing word games and making birdhouses.&nbsp;Julie especially loved her family and her dog, Loki, but definitely did&nbsp;not like to shop.&nbsp; She was taken too soon but will always be remembered&nbsp;for her sense of humor.She is survived by her parents, Billie and Phyllis Reed, of Hershey;&nbsp;daughter, Reece Maske, and her dad, Kevin Maske, both of Grand Island;&nbsp;sisters, Cindy (Reed) Kuroki and Lucie Reed, of Hershey, and Helene&nbsp;Baustian, of Fremont; brothers, Nick (Denise) Reed, of Sutherland,&nbsp;Darrell (Irma) Reed, of St. Francis, KS, Billie (Tammie) Reed, of North&nbsp;Platte and Pat (Lorie) Reed, of Salina, KS; and other family.Julie was preceded in death by her grandparents; brother-in-law, Daniel&nbsp;Baustian; and nephew, Eric Nardini.Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2020, at Hershey&nbsp;United Methodist Church.&nbsp; Burial will follow in the North Platte&nbsp;Cemetery.&nbsp; Visitation is prior to the service at the church.&nbsp; In lieu of&nbsp;flowers, memorials are to the family. Judith Faye Colborn, 76, of North Platte passed away February 5, 2020 at her home.

Judith was born on October 10, 1943 in Dallas, TX to Lewis and Cleo (Honey) Armentrout.

On December 31, 1975 she married Mark W. Colborn in Lincoln. The two made their home in North Platte where Judith worked at the North Platte Telegraph as a receptionist/switchboard operator/and cashier for almost 40 years.

Judith’s hobbies included reading, especially non-fiction, music (early ‘50’s and country gold ‘60’s) and some travel.

Survivors include her sons, Bill (Viola) Hunting of Sacramento, CA, Steven (Patricia) Colborn of Sandy, Utah, and Lee (Cristina) Colborn of Colorado Springs, CO; and a daughter, Joan (Kevin) Poole of Elmwood; grandchildren, Brian, Brad, Mark, Christopher, Ashley, Richard, Rachel, Stacy, Jason, and Katrina; three great-grandchildren, Emily, Maggie, and Madeline; brother, Robert (Deborah) Armentrout; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Wally Armentrout and Mark Armentrout.

Judith Faye Colborn (1943-2020

Dorothy Ponce, 72, of North Platte, went to her heavenly home February 9, 2020, at Great Plains Health surrounded by her family.

Dorothy was born February 13, 1947 to Seferino and Helena (Luna) Martinez in North Platte, Nebraska.  She grew up in North Platte and attended school here.  On January 5, 1967 Dorothy married Robert Ponce in Kileen, TX.  When Robert was sent to Vietnam, Dorothy returned to North Platte to be close to family.  After his discharge, Robert returned to his family in North Platte.

Dorothy worked at Goodall’s in Ogallala while Robert was in the service.  She also worked at the Pawnee Hotel, Centennial Park, Chancellor Place, and Aspen Park.  Dorothy was a Sunday School Teacher who was an excellent wife, and loving mother.   She loved gardening, working outside, dancing, and listening to music. She was known to everyone as Aunt Dorothy. She was known for her big Christmas parties and she loved buying gifts for everyone. She was very loving to her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and her children’s friends.  She was a devoted Christian who shared her faith with others and devotedly prayed for others.

Survivors include her husband, Robert of North Platte; children, Robert Jr. Ponce of North Platte, Philip Joseph (Carmen) Ponce of Council Bluffs, IA, and Christina (Russell) Brown of Cheyenne, WY; grandchildren, Scott Ponce, Seth (Sharon) Ponce, Elizabeth Ponce, Ashley Brown, Justin Brown, and Kaylie Brown; brother, Jessie (Vicky) Martinez of North Platte; sisters, Ramona (Rick) Clark and Julia (Bob) Burks all of North Platte; numerous other family members; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws Jess and Jennie Ponce; grandson, Cameron Allen; and brothers, Sibbio, Crespin, Domingo, Benedict, and Simon.

John Clarence Phifer,&nbsp; 73, of North Platte, passed away Wednesday,&nbsp;February 5, 2020, at Bryan Health in Lincoln.

John was born May 8, 1946, to Clarence A. and Beulah Marie (Hopping)&nbsp;Phifer in North Platte. He grew up west of town and went to Platte&nbsp;Valley Grade School then Hershey High School, graduating in 1964. John&nbsp;attended McCook Junior College for two years before joining the U.S.&nbsp;Navy in October 1967.

The Navy schooled and trained John to be an aerographer's mate&nbsp;(meteorologist).&nbsp; He was scientifically inclined, so for his sea duty he&nbsp;volunteered for Operation Deep Freeze, the Antarctic Support Activity&nbsp;which was attached to the National Science Foundation.&nbsp; John wintered in&nbsp;Antarctica from '69 to '70, stationed at McMurdo Base, but flew to all&nbsp;the other bases on "the ice".

While on leave in the Spring of '71, John married Kathryn 'Kay' Becher&nbsp;in North Platte. They had two children, Travis and Angela, and later&nbsp;divorced.

Following his honorable discharge in August 1971, John returned to North&nbsp;Platte and hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad. He became a&nbsp;Switchman, then moved to Cheyenne, WY and worked as a Brakeman then as&nbsp;Conductor until about 2000.&nbsp; John eventually returned to North Platte to&nbsp;be closer to his family and worked part-time at Burger King for many years.

He was a member of the First Christian Church.&nbsp; He enjoyed working on and restoring vintage Thunderbirds and was a longtime member of the Rocky Mountain Thunderbird Club. John also enjoyed working on and riding&nbsp;his Triumph motorcycle, and was an HO gauge model railroader.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Beulah; ex-wife,&nbsp;Kathryn; and all his aunts and uncles.&nbsp;

John is survived by his daughter, Angela Phifer, of Loveland, CO; son,&nbsp;Travis (Missy) Phifer, of Thornton, CO, and their two children, Makaela&nbsp;and Kyle Phifer; brothers, Tom (Mona) Phifer, and Ken (Patty) Phifer, all of North Platte; three nieces, a nephew and other family.

Visitation will be Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Odean Colonial&nbsp;Chapel.&nbsp; Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Friday, February 14, at&nbsp;Odean Colonial Chapel, then keeping with John's wishes, cremation will&nbsp;follow the service.&nbsp; Inurnment with military honors will be at 11 a.m.&nbsp;on Saturday in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.&nbsp; Memorials are suggested&nbsp;to the North Platte Animal Shelter or Fur the Love of Paws.&nbsp; Odean&nbsp;Colonial Chapel at C &amp; Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.

John Clarence Phifer (1946-2020



Arleen O. Young, 89, of North Platte, died at the Sutherland Care Center on January 28, 2020.

Arleen was born April 6, 1930, to Albert Henry and Olive Violet (Nelson)&nbsp;Gass in Osseo, WI and grew up in Slayton, MN.&nbsp; After graduating from&nbsp;Slayton High School in 1949, Arleen attended Northwestern Medical&nbsp;Technician College in Minneapolis then went to work for the Lutheran&nbsp;Hospital Society in Wyoming.

Arleen married, had a daughter, Pam, and lived in Arnold for 10 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;She then moved to North Platte with her daughter and went to work as a&nbsp;Medical Technician for St. Mary's Hospital and later Memorial Hospital&nbsp;until retiring.

On July 31, 1972, Arleen married James Henry Young at Cheyenne and they made their home in North Platte.&nbsp; Jim and Arlene owned and operated the&nbsp;Driftwood Manor from 1972-84 and also built the Lamp Lighter Inn at Lake&nbsp;Maloney which they operated for several years. They eventually sold the&nbsp;businesses and enjoyed their time together.

Arleen kept busy by volunteering and being active in various&nbsp;organizations.&nbsp; She volunteered with R.S.V.P. and the Lincoln County&nbsp;Historical Museum; was a member of Sandhill Campers, Shrine Auxiliary,&nbsp;Eastern Star and V.F.W.&nbsp; Auxiliary; was a member and Past President of&nbsp;American Legion Auxiliary; a charter member of Good Sam's Club; and a&nbsp;member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Arleen enjoyed working at the historical museum, making desserts and&nbsp;cooking holiday dinners.&nbsp; She loved her dog, K.K., and cat, C.D., but&nbsp;especially loved her grandbabies.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; daughter, Pamela Szwanek;&nbsp;parents, Albert and Olive Gass; brothers-in-law, Gerald and Don Young;&nbsp;sister-in-law, Joan Gass; and grandson, Robbie Mills.

Arleen is survived by her son-in-law, Kirk Szwanek, of North Platte;&nbsp;stepchildren, Steve Young and Debra (Marty) Myers, of Cheyenne, WY,&nbsp;Carol (Mike) Farmer, of Chesapeake, VA and Donna (Stan) Johnson, of&nbsp;Nolanville, TX; brothers, Don Gass, of Fulda, MN and Robert (Sue) Gass,&nbsp;of Slayton, MN; brothers-in-law, Pat Young, of Golden, CO, Owen (Betty)&nbsp;Young, of Kent, WA and Chuck Young, of Casper, WY; 8 grandkids, 9&nbsp;great-grandkids, and other family.

Young, age 70, of North Platte, Nebraska died at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska on Wednesday, February 5, 2020. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Roger was born on September 20, 1949 to Jim Henry and Laveda May (Walther) Young at North Platte.&nbsp; He grew up in North Platte and Hershey, Nebraska, graduating from Hershey High School in 1967.&nbsp; Roger hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad in 1968, then joined the U.S. Army a couple years later.&nbsp; Following his discharge in 1971, Roger returned to North Platte and went back to his job with the railroad and worked until retiring in 2009. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;On September 20, 1970, Roger married Coniss Schick in Curtis, Nebraska and they made their home in North Platte.&nbsp; They had three children and later divorced. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Roger was a member of Colonel Cody's Car Club, The Corral of Westerners Historical Society, and Eagles Aerie #2839.&nbsp; He enjoyed old cars, going to auctions, playing poker, gardening, dancing and listening to country music, but most of all he loved his kids and grandkids. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He is survived by his children, Lindsey Young of North Platte, Heather (Mark) Rhoden of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Dustin Young (Jamie Thomas) of Bondurant, Iowa;&nbsp;fiancée, Anita Torrico of Sutherland, Nebraska; sisters, Elaine (Gary) Mulvaney of North Platte, Connie Walker of Concord, North Carolina, and Jolynn Anthony of North Bend, Nebraska; brothers, Daniel (Susan) Young of Jacksonville Beach, Florida and Kevin Anthony of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren, Kalab, Keegan, Rylee, Camdyn, Jayce and Jaydee; great-grandson, Preston; and other family. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Laveda; brothers, Robert "Spike", Larry and Jim Young; and a niece, Brenda Detter. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, February 10, 2020 at Odean Colonial Chapel at C &amp; Sycamore in North Platte.&nbsp; Inurnment with military honors will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, Nebraska.&nbsp; The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com or from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Odean Colonial Chapel at C &amp; Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements.&nbsp; Memorials are suggested to Gift of Hope. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;

Ilene G. Rockwell  (1929 - 2020

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Marie A. Gentleman Beebe, age 96, of Elkhorn, Nebraska, formerly of North Platte, Nebraska, died on February 4, 2020 in Omaha, Nebraska. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Marie was born on August 28, 1923 to John and Elizabeth (Schueth) Gentleman in Chapman, Nebraska and grew up in Silver Creek.&nbsp; She graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1941, then attended Boyle's Business College in Omaha. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Marie was a veteran of World War II.&nbsp; She joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served in a Naval Intelligence Unit in Washington D.C.&nbsp; Following her honorable discharge in 1946, she returned to Silver Creek, Nebraska. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;On April 9, 1948, Marie married Ward E. Marie A. Gentleman Beebe  (1923 - 2020

Bernard Elmer “Bernie” Lebsock, age 94 of Centennial, Colorado passed away January 31, 2020 at his home. 

Bernie was born to Henry and Marie (Friehauf) Lebsock in Grand Island, Nebraska, on September 29, 1925, at the home of his Lebsock grandparents.  The family moved to Gothenburg, Nebraska, when Bernie was three months old.  He lived there and attended school until he was a junior in high school when the family decided to try their hand at farming southwest of North Platte, Nebraska where Bernie graduated high school in 1943.  During this time, he met Mary Louise Vencill at a 4H Club meeting and the two started dating.  

Bernie was drafted into the Navy in June 1944 and served in the Pacific during WWII on the destroyer the USS Wedderburn.  After the war, he and Mary Vencill were married on June 1, 1947.  The young couple soon moved to Denver where Bernie attended Denver University, graduating in June of 1952 with an engineering degree.  After graduation Bernie obtained a position with Westinghouse Electric, a job which required a lot of moving and the couple lived in various mid-western and southern states.  During this period, in 1955, their first son, Kent, was born.  In 1956 Bernie obtained a position with the Martin Company and the young family moved to Denver, this time permanently.  They bought a home and in 1957 their second son, Jeff, was born.  After Bernie retired, he continued to work, creating his own Electrical Engineering business and investing in the stock market.  Bernie and Mary were married for 60 years before Mary passed away from Alzheimer’s Disease in 2006.  Bernie survived her, living in the home they made in Centennial (a suburb of Denver) for the rest of his life, where he continued to pursue his work, continuing his businesses and swimming at the YMCA three days a week until his death on January 31, 2020.  He died peacefully at home at the age of 94 having lived a varied and full life. 

Survivors include sons, Kent Lebsock of New York, NY and Jeffrey Lee (Pam) Lebsock of North Platte; grandchildren, Jacob (Melissa Andrews) Lebsock of Austin, TX, Johnathan (Chacity) Lebsock of Grand Junction, CO, Eric (Katie) Lebsock of Omaha, and Dawson Lebsock of North Platte; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Caydon, Shayleona, Barrett, Haisley, and Amma; brother, Clyde Lebsock of Riverside, CA; nephew, Brad (Janet) Burkhart of San Jose, CA; niece, Carrie Ann (Tim) Burkhart of San Jose, CA; sister-in-law, Pat Burkhart of San Jose, CA; numerous other family members; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Jerry, Ken, Dick, and Leonard.

Bernard Elmer “Bernie” Lebsock (1925-2020

Thomas Michael Lee, age 63, of North Platte, died at Great Plains Health on January 28, 2020.

Thomas was born in Grant on November 28, 1965, to Francis and Roberta (Rohbacker) Lee.&nbsp; He attended Madrid High School where he lettered in football and track and was on the 880 relay team that took 3rd place at the '74 State Track Championships.&nbsp; After high school Thomas went on to graduated from Milford College and Mid-Plains Community College, then hired on with Union Pacific Railroad as a Carman.&nbsp; Thomas liked working and eventually retired from the railroad in 2017.

On June 18, 1984, Thomas married Debra Kay miller in Oberlin, Kansas, and they made their home in North Platte.&nbsp; He was a good man who took care of his family and always made sure they had a nice vehicle.&nbsp; Thomas enjoyed going on vacations and fishing with his grandson.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Roberta; and daughter, Darcey Lee.

Thomas leaves behind his father, Francis Lee, of Grant; his wife, Deb of North Platte; daughters, Tara Lee, of Clayton, North Carolina and Kelsey Gnapp, of Kearney; grandchildren, Raymond Jaye Lee, Kayla Holland and&nbsp;&nbsp;Kyiara Barrett; sisters, Deborah (John) Barker, of Chicago, Cyndi (Bob) Johnson, of Big Springs and Shelly (Greg) Pollard, of Grant; brothers, Russell (Denise) Lee and Mark Lee, all of Madrid, Steven (Gina) Lee, of Sutherland and Joel (Debra) Lee, of Doniphan; and many other family members.

Thomas Michael Lee (1956-2020

&nbsp; &nbsp; Harold Eugene Ryan, age 59, formerly of North Platte, Nebraska died unexpectedly on Thursday, January 23, 2020 in Aurora, Colorado. &nbsp; &nbsp; Harold was born on November 1, 1960 to Gene and Lois (Woollen) Ryan in Aberdeen, Washington, then the family moved to North Platte, Nebraska a couple of years later.&nbsp; Harold attended St. Patrick's Catholic School and went on to graduate from North Platte High School in 1979. &nbsp; &nbsp; He started working after high school, doing various construction jobs across the country, and at the time of his death, Harold was working as a welding inspector in the Denver, Colorado area.&nbsp; He liked what he did and was very close to those we worked with.&nbsp; To Harold, they were his work family and an important part of his life. &nbsp; &nbsp; He loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews who were very special to him.&nbsp; And he enjoyed coin collecting. &nbsp; &nbsp; Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Lois Ryan; a brother, Dan; his great-niece, Sophia Grace; as well as his grandparents and several aunts and uncles. &nbsp; &nbsp; Survivors include his brother, John Ryan of Sheridan, Arkansas; sisters, Sheila (Butch) Harrington of Sheridan, Arkansas and Deb (Doug) Beckmann of North Platte, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Becky Ryan of Thornton, Colorado; and his nieces, nephews and other family members. &nbsp; &nbsp; Cremation was chosen.&nbsp; A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at Odean Colonial Chapel at C &amp; Sycamore in North Platte with Father Tom Ryan officiating.&nbsp; Inurnment will be at a later date in Arkansas.&nbsp; The memorial book may be signed at odeanchapel.com or prior to the service at Odean Colonial Chapel at C &amp; Sycamore, which is in charge of arrangements.&nbsp; The family has established a memorial.

Harold Eugene Ryan  (1960 - 2020

Rodney Ridenour, age 77, passed away January 28, 2020 at his home.  He was born September 10, 1942 in Sutherland to Archie and Enid (Anderson) Ridenour.

Rodney grew up in Wallace and graduated from Wallace High School in 1962.  He entered the U.S. Army in 1964 and served in Germany.  He was honorably discharged in 1967 and returned home to Wallace where he worked for Lincoln County.  On August 19, 1969 he married Karen Eckhoft, the couple made their home in Sutherland.  Rodney hired on with Union Pacific Railroad where he was a fireman/oiler.  He went to work for Sutherland Public Schools where he retired.  He then went to work for the Village of Sutherland.  Rodney belonged to the American Legion, Sutherland Fire Department as an EMT, and Grace Lutheran Church.

He will be remembered as a caretaker in his family, fixing everything for his family from physical to emotional issues.  He loved kids and always had an open door for all.  He enjoyed the Christmas holiday and turned his shop into the “Christmas Village”.  

Survivors include his wife Karen of Sutherland; four children, Eric Ridenour of Thedford, Rogina (Tom Carr) Ridenour of North Platte, Candi Myers of North Platte, Trevor (Amber) Perkins of Oceanside, CA; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; many other family members and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Rosalie and Marilyn; stepfather Frank “Bud” LaRue.

John Ellis Roberts, 89, of North Platte, passed away January 25, 2020 at North Platte Care Center.  He was born on November 2, 1930 to Carl Ellis Roberts and Ruby Amalie (Marxen) Roberts.

John graduated from Omaha Technical High School and entered the U.S. Navy Reserve and was activated into active service.  After his honorable discharge, he returned to Omaha where he worked for Union Pacific Railroad.  He married Carol V. Chrisman on December 13, 1951. John transferred to the Council Bluffs, Iowa shops then to North Platte where he retired with Union Pacific Railroad in 1991.

He was a charter member of a car club in Omaha, winning an award for his prized Model A.  John was a member of the Sportsman Gun Club in North Platte and a proud member of the NRA.   He was also a member of the VFW, American Legion and the U.P. Old Timers Club.  John enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include four children, Gary (Katie) Roberts of Fremont, Cindy (Dan) Farrell of Independence, MO, Steve (Carol) Roberts of North Platte, Cathy (Kent) Young of Overton; eight grandchildren, Michael (Leanne) Warren of Wheatland, WY, Tony (Tamara) Warren of Switzerland, Amy ( Alejandro) Torres of Independence, MO, Andy (Jade) Farrell of Independence, MO, Shannon (Joseph) Parrett of Maxwell, Carolyn (Travis) Baker of North Platte, Becky Morlang of Grand Island, Tim (Amber Young) Farrell of Lee’s Summit, MO; seventeen great grandchildren; brother Joseph; and  sister Mary; numerous other family members and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol in 2012 and sister Margaret Christensen.

John Ellis Roberts (1930-2020

Sharon Marie Baruth, 81, of North Platte, passed away at Centennial Park Retirement Village on Monday, January 27, 2020.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Sharon was born in Hebron on September 6, 1938, the daughter of Charles Eugene and Myrtle (Watts) Baruth.  She grew up in Hebron, Oregon and Ogallala, but attended school in Hebron. 

Sharon had been married, raised five children and was a caregiver to many including her mother and brother, Gene, until they passed. She was a very kind, caring woman who worked but spent even more time being a volunteer.  She helped at the Senior Center, would call Bingo at Linden Estates, and sang with the Salvation Army Ladies during the holidays.

Sharon could also be found singing karaoke, playing cards or shuffleboard, and tending to her flower gardens and bird feeders.  In her later years she became a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

She is survived by her children, Penny (Johnny) Berg, Shawn (significant other, Tina Farley) and Marion 'Jimmy' Triplett, Jr., all of North Platte, and Tammy (Joe) Sauls, of Grand Island; daughter-in-law, Mary Triplett, of Illinois; 15 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; brother, William Baruth, of North Platte; as well as many other family members.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Myrtle; son Michael Triplett; brothers, Gene and Frank Baruth; and sisters, Barbara Presnell and Carol Owens.

Cremation was chosen.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 30, 2020, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Celebrant Father Vijumon. &nbsp;Robert “Bob” L. Childers age 81 of Stapleton, died January 22, 2020 at the Denver Health Hospital in Denver.

Robert Lee Childers was born on June 2, 1938 at Valentine, NE to Amos Robert and Mary Elizabeth (McMurtrey) Childers. The family lived on a ranch south of Nenzel. Bob attended school at Curtis. In 1953 the family moved to Ansley and Bob graduated from Ansley High School in 1955. Bob served in the US Army October 17, 1961-August 22, 1963. On January 24, 1968 he married Susan Quick. They ranched North of Mullen, then south of Seneca.

Bob and Susan raised a lot of hogs. They actually paid for the ranch by raising pigs.

Bob enjoyed his dogs and horses. Everywhere he &amp; Susan went, their dogs went too. He enjoyed jumping horses and driving them with a buggy. Bob would haul Santa around at Christmas time with his team and buggy. He also enjoyed taking the team and buggy to area parades.

Bob liked to attend the area athletic events. He would go to watch family members &amp; neighbor kids.

Bob is survived by his brother David (Karen) Childers of Ansley, 4 nephews &amp; 2 nieces as well as other relatives and numerous friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mitzi, and his wife Susan in 2019.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 29, 2020 at 11:00 Central Time at the Seneca Auditorium with Eldon Starr officiating. Burial will be in the Seneca Cemetery with Military Honors. "Mike" McConnell, age 65, died on January 22, 2020 at Great Plains Health in North Platte, Nebraska.&nbsp; He was born on January 30, 1954 in North Platte to Merle and Delores (Ecker) McConnell. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;On December 31, 1996, Mike married Cindy Farrar in North Platte, Nebraska. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Mike worked several years for Paxton equipment before he was hired on at Nebraska Public Power District where he worked for 25 years until his retirement in 2016.&nbsp; After retirement, Mike and Cindy went on extended camping trips, liked to attend horse races, did lots of country western dancing and traveled to different states.&nbsp; He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Survivors include his wife, Cindy, of North Platte, Nebraska; daughter Megan (Justin) Mullen of Paxton, Nebraska; son Nathan Mcconnel of Lincoln, Nebraska; step-children Marisa Joudrey and John (Tamara) Snider all of Kearney, Nebraska; grandchildren Taylor Mullen-Beck, Ryan Joudrey, Trayvin Snider, Madilynn Mullen, Afton Snider, Kaydence Mullen and Pheryn Snider; brothers Pat McConnell of Broken Bow, Nebraska and Mark (Sue) McConnell of Paxton, Nebraska. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Korah Mullen. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.&nbsp; Condolences for Mike's family can be left at carpentermemorial.com. Cremation was chosen.&nbsp; A celebration of life will be held at a later date.&nbsp; Carpenter Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
