Carl Frederick Mundis, 79, passed away Aug. 7, 2023, at Great Plains Health Hospital, North Platte.  Mundis was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on Dec. 6, 1943, the eldest child of Frederick F. and Myrtle E. (Stoker) Mundis.  The family resided in Parsons, Kansas, where his siblings Barbara, William (Bill), and Patrick were born.  Mundis graduated from Parsons High School in 1961 and subsequently earned his B.A. and M.A. in history from Kansas State College at Pittsburg (Kansas), now Pittsburg State University.  He was married to Marilyn K. Lett on April 27, 1963. Two children were born to that marriage: Daryl A. (in 1963) and Marla K. (in 1965).  Mundis taught history and coached track at Labette County (Kansas) High School until moving to North Platte in 1969 to take up a teaching position at North Platte Junior College, later Mid-Plains Community College.  Over the course of the next three decades, he taught US history, Western Civilization, philosophy, and ethics at MPCC.  On March 9, 1984, he was married to Colleen Mulligan of North Platte, who survives him.  For many years, he played volleyball on the MPCC inter-city league team, but his greatest passion was rock music, and he enjoyed listening to and playing rock with his friends.  He enjoyed his dachshunds, cats and feeding the squirrels and birds in his backyard.  He was very proud of the accomplishments of his children and six grandchildren and treasured the time they had together, sharing stories, laughing and enjoying life.  He had also been a collector of Chevy Corvairs, at one time owning more than a half-dozen of those ill-fated rear-engined automobiles and vans.  Although he was quite handy in restoring and patching these cars up, the family struggled to think of many examples of long-distance trips without one break-down or another.  His children were also the proud recipients of twenty-five cent pool lessons, which their dad liberally dispensed at select North Platte locations which also dispensed adult beverages.  A devoted follower of both the Kansas City Royals and democracy, he remained hopeful about the fate of both until the end.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Barbara, and his brother Pat.  He is survived by his wife, Colleen, his brother Bill (Tammy), his son Daryl (Ruth Froelich) of Baldwin Place, NY, daughter Marla (Sam Miller) of Oakland, CA, his granddaughters, Natasha, Alexandra, and Jackie, of Boston, MA, and his grandsons Mark, Leo, and Eli of New York. Patricia&nbsp;Stevens passed away at her home in North Platte on August 8, 2023, at the age of 79.

Patricia was born in Hennepin, MN, to Floyd and Doreen (Butler) Duffey on July 13, 1944, and grew up in Nebraska City. &nbsp;After graduating from Nebraska City High School, Patricia went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska. &nbsp;She worked as a lab tech in Omaha before moving to North Platte where she worked for Pathology Services until retiring.

Patricia was an active member of Episcopal Church of Our Savior and helped with many different church activities. &nbsp;She was also involved with Platter Painters and enjoyed gardening. &nbsp;In her younger days, Patricia liked to play tennis and softball. &nbsp;She will always be remembered for the love she had for her family.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bill Duffey.

Survivors include her sons, Adam (Stephanie) Stevens of Kimball and Kevin Scott of Phoenix; grandchildren, Piper, Logan, Macey and Parker Stevens and Katelynne, Deirdre and Cassidy Scott; as well as other family and her friends.

Shirley Ann Craig was born on November 8, 1947, at Fullerton, NE to Robert Ronald Craig, SR, and Mary Arletta (Davis) Craig. &nbsp;Shirley attended school at Grand Island and later graduated from Broken Bow High School. &nbsp;After high school Shirley worked at the Becton Dickinson Factory for over 20 years. &nbsp;She held various jobs through the later years. &nbsp;Shirley made her home in Oconto until her health started to fail and she needed more care. &nbsp;

Shirley enjoyed playing games on the computer, doing cross stitching on the computer, and watching scary movies. &nbsp;

She is survived by her daughters Jennifer (Dan) Speer of Broken Bow, Shanna Zacarias of Columbus, NE, her son Christopher (Melissa) Craig of Oberlin, KS; eleven grandchildren, Kyle, Zach, Jamie, Nick, Ashley, Shayla, Dylan, Hudson, Scotty, Jonathan, Haylie, five great grandchildren, Quintin, Declynn, Delilah, Alayna, and Bowan. &nbsp;She is also survived by her sisters Rita (Kim) Frith of Godley, TX, Nancy Craig of Hastings, and a brother Robert Ronald Craig, JR, of Ansley.

Clayton Hueftle waited quietly &amp; patiently before God because his hope was in the LORD. On Saturday August 5, 2023 at the age of 88, he entered the presence of his Savior Jesus Christ. He made the decision to make Jesus the Lord of his life at the Free Methodist Church in Ansley, Nebraska while still in high school.&nbsp;

As a child, Clayton spent much of his time caring for his mother, Minnie, until her death when he was 14. He continued to be a care provider for two of his aunts, Mary &amp; Frieda until their deaths.

Clayton always enjoyed being a part of gatherings &amp; celebrations with his brother &amp; nephew’s families. He had many hired men over the years that he maintained longtime friendships with. In addition, Clayton had a special friendship with Sharon Koch for many years. They spent a lot of time together and talked daily on the phone until he became ill.

Cattle were a big part of Clayton’s life. He was well known for keeping a consistent eye on his cattle, frequently driving around to check on them in the pastures. In addition to ranching and farming, Clayton loved to travel the world. He made trips to Israel, Egypt and parts of Africa. He also enjoyed attending Christian camp meetings and conferences all over the United States up until he was no longer able to travel.

Clayton was preceded in death by in his parents, brother Warren Hueftle, sister-in-law Jean Hueftle, sister Bernadine Kring, brother-in-law Jim Kring &amp; niece, Barb Kring.

Clayton is survived by nieces, LaVon (Solomon) Adams, Joyce (Mark) Howsden, Darlene (Roger) Howsden, Carol (David) Karlberg &amp; nephew Vernon (Janet) Hueftle and many great nieces and nephews.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Services will be held Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Soloman Adams officiating. Burial will be private. There will be no visitation. Berryman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Frances Joan Jobman, 91, of Gothenburg, NE, died August 7, 2023 at StoneHearth Estates, Gothenburg, NE.

She was born August 14, 1931, North of Cozad, NE, daughter of Ralph John and Hilda (Blankman) Block.&nbsp;

She was a member of the American Lutheran Church.

Frances married Lester Jobman on December 16, 1951 at Christ Lutheran Church at Gothenburg. To this union three children were born: Terry, Heidi, and Matthew.

She was a life-long resident of Gothenburg. Frances loved to square dance anywhere and played bridge at least twice a week. She was the church secretary and played the organ for the church. &nbsp;She attended every sporting and club event that her children and grandchildren were involved in and loved to travel with Lester.

Survivors include son, Terry Jobman (Nancy) of Gothenburg; daughter, Heidi Jobman of Chappell; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Jobman (Gary Nelson) of Gothenburg; three grandsons, Chris Morris and wife Angie Hopkins of Kansas City, KS, Andy (Becky) Jobman, David (Jana) Jobman all of Gothenburg; two granddaughters, Erica Jobman and Chris Harbeson of Sidney, Erin Jobman and husband Ben Suchsland of Blue Hill; two great-grandsons, Adam and Jackson Jobman.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lester Jobman, son Matthew Jobman, son-in-law Roger Morris, and granddaughter Susan Elizabeth Jobman.

Eileen Louise Buckbee was born on July 16, 1938, at Great Bend, KS to Joseph and Johanna (Penka) Boor. &nbsp;She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Ellinwood, KS and then graduated from Ellinwood, KS High School in 1957. &nbsp;After high school Eileen worked as a bookkeeper for Ward-Pivonka Motor Company until 1972. &nbsp;

In April of 1970, Darryl Buckbee met Eileen Boor through his relatives from Kansas; at Christmas they were engaged. On November 18, 1972, Darryl and Eileen were married in Ellinwood, KS. A son, Darren, was born to them in September of 1973.&nbsp;

Eileen and family lived on the Buckbee farm in the Somerford Community. &nbsp;They worked together raising crops and livestock. Eileen brought her bookkeeping strengths to the farm with each dollar and expense diligently recorded.

When Darryl died on December 10, 2015, Eileen continued to help with daily chores and maintaining financial ledgers for her son. &nbsp;

Eileen enjoyed crafts and cooking, especially during Christmas. It became a family tradition to help in the creation of various candies and cookies which were then shared with relatives and friends. Visitors would not leave empty handed; boxes of sweets were eagerly gifted.

Eileen loved to decorate for the Christmas Season. Handmade ornaments, pillows, and figures would adorn each room of her house. A collection of Santa Claus figurines as well as a Nativity stayed out year-round.&nbsp;

Eileen loved to visit with her family, share with her friends and look to help those in need. Kindness, sharing, and compassion defined her. She saw neighbors as family.

Eileen would laugh freely, love unconditionally, and insist on a positive approach to life no matter what difficulties arose.

If a life could be expressed in a bible verse, Eileen’s would be “faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

Eileen is survived by her son Darren of Sargent, sisters; Mary Lou Button, Carol Shara, and Betty Janatello. &nbsp;She is survived by one brother Leon Boor.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Darryl, a sister Shirley Ann Krier and her in-laws Clarence and Hattie Buckbee.&nbsp;

Sharon Kay Jeffrey, 80, of Colorado Springs, CO, formerly of Lexington, NE died July 30, 2023 at The Gardens Nursing Home.

She was born October 10, 1942 in Columbus, NE to Arthur &amp; Wanda (Dowling) Schack.

Sharon graduated with the class of 1960 from Spencer High School. From there she attended business school in Omaha, NE where she met her husband of 56 yrs, Richard M Jeffrey. 3 children were blessed to this marriage: David, Dennis and Kristina.

The couple lived in Iowa, Nebraska, Florida, Arizona and in 1994 moved back to Nebraska where they spent their remaining years.

Sharon worked in banking, real estate, as a special Ed para, construction secretary, and spent over 20 years as the church secretary at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington where she was also active in many committees, choir, bell choir, and taught Sunday school.

Many did not know but Sharon had a beautiful voice and a talent for art. She loved to draw and play with watercolors. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling, tennis, playing cards with family and friends and sewing. One of her favorite activities was watching Disney movies with her grandkids when they were small and baking cookies with them.

Survivors are her children; David (Penny) Jeffrey of Ohio, Dennis (Annette) Jeffrey of Pagosa Springs, CO, Kristina (Mike) Nass of Colorado Springs, CO; Sister, Vicki (Greg) Piasecki of Stacy, MN; 6 Grandchildren, Austin (Hope) &amp; Alyssa Jeffrey, Chris (Missy) and Danielle Zambeck and Nate and Alex Nass; 2 great-grandchildren, Austin and Izzy Zambeck; Brother in Law, Pat (Joyce) Jeffrey of Encampment,WY. &nbsp;Also, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard (2018), parents Arthur and Wanda, in-laws Ray and Sofie Jeffrey and many stepbrothers and stepsisters.

Memorials are suggested to St Jude’s Children's Hospital.

Sharon's wishes were that her body be cremated. Services will be held at a later date.

Bonnie Ilene Rowan, age 82, of Lamar, CO passed away with her family by her side on August 6, 2023, at her home in Lamar.

Bonnie was born November 17, 1940, in Wiley, CO to parents Roy W. and Lucy M. (Kennard) Bowles. She was one of eight children.

On November 20, 1960, Bonnie married the love of her life, AC Rowan in Wiley. The couple was blessed with two children: Jay and Sheila. The family made their home on the farm near Lamar where Bonnie looked forward to her Wednesday morning lady’s Bible study each week. Bonnie also enjoyed planting flowers, decorating her home, shopping trips to Pueblo with her sister, Lorene, and watching her grandchildren participate in their sports and hobbies. Outside of travelling with AC in their camper, Bonnie loved her time on the farm, tending to the sheep and lambs and swathing hay. Bonnie always made a point of putting on her makeup before heading to the field for a day of work.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her grandson, Xander Sharpe Rowan; parents and in-laws; brothers, Austin Bowles and Daryl Bowles; sisters, Francis Brooks, Dorothy Nunnery and Doris Copeland; brother in laws, Millard Copeland, Richard Thompson and Bernice Nunnery; and her sister-in-law, Doris Bowles.

Bonnie Ilene Rowan (1940-2023)

Layne David Olson, 65, of Ogallala, passed away on August 5, 2023, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.

Layne was born on August 26, 1957, in Ogallala to Carlton David and Carol (Gemmell) Olson. Layne graduated from Brule High School.

Layne set out for a career in construction, which would span many years, many of which were spent remodeling Buckle stores at various malls across the United States. His dedication and craftsmanship left a lasting impact on numerous properties. Layne also spent some time at Ace Hardware in Ogallala before embarking on an independent contracting journey, where he continued to showcase his expertise throughout the local area.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Layne was an avid hunter and fisherman, finding immense joy and fulfillment in the great outdoors. Gardening and landscaping were also among his passions, and he took pride in nurturing his surroundings to create beautiful landscapes.

Layne was preceded in death by his parents, Carlton and Carol Olson, and a brother, Lannie Olson.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy; sons, Brett and Spencer; five grandchildren; his siblings, Lonnie, Lowell, and Linda, along with many other relatives and friends.

Layne David Olson (1957-2023)

Sandy Fisher passed away on Saturday afternoon, July 29th, 2023 after a long but graceful fight with cancer.&nbsp; Her strength and endurance during her battle was a true testimony to her love and dedication to her Lord and Savior.

Sandy was born in Grand Island, Nebraska on January 7, 1959 to Robert and Joyce Hardknock.&nbsp; They would later move to North Platte, Nebraska where she would then meet her husband, Stan Fisher.

Stan and Sandy moved to Colorado shortly after getting married where they would make Colorado Springs their permanent home.&nbsp; Sandy worked at Phenix Salon Suites and loved the social connections she made with stylists and guests.

Sandy's number one passion in life was taking care of and being a huge Godly influence in her children and grandchildren's lives.&nbsp; She lived for them and their happiness every day.&nbsp; Sandy had such a servant heart towards everyone she met.&nbsp; Anyone who was blessed to meet her, all got to see her genuine and pure helping heart.&nbsp; Her love for baking came in as a close second and it was like no other.&nbsp; She blessed so many people with her amazing cupcakes, breads, and desserts.&nbsp; Her heart was always in the kitchen baking something.

Sandy was survived by her husband, Stan Fisher; their two children, Kendra Eggleton and Nathan Fisher; and their three loving grandchildren, Brylee, Kenzie, and Triston.

A Celebration of Life is planned at the World Prayer Center, 11005 Voyager Parkway, Colorado Springs, Colorado at 2:00 p.m. MST on Friday, August 11, 2023.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;On the early morning hours of July 31, 2023, Jaimeson Y. Meza of Council Bluffs, Iowa passed away at Omaha Methodist Hospital at the age of 44. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Jaimeson was born to Ygnacio and Davine Meza in Grand Island, Nebraska on June 11, 1979. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Jaimeson attended grade school in Grand Island, Nebraska until fifth grade, then attended school in North Platte, Nebraska where he graduated in 1997. He participated in football, theater, and academic decathlon. Then he continued his education at Peru State Collage, then University of Nebraska at Kearney, obtaining associate degree at North Platte Community College. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Jaimeson was employed and enjoyed working at Cabela’s for a period until he moved to Lincoln, Nebraska to attend the School for the Visually Impaired, to learn how to live independently as a visually impaired person at which he was remarkably successful. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;He had many Joys in his life, sports music poker and his guide dogs all of which gave him many unique experiences. His favorite sport teams which he loved were Nebraska Football and Baseball, Atlanta Braves, LA Lakers, Tennessee Titans and NASCAR. He was a wealth of knowledge to all who knew him and never failed to let you know his opinion on such matters. Jaimeson Y. Meza  (1979-2023)

Larry Blaine Wilmeth of North Platte died peacefully in his sleep at North Platte Care Center. He was 84 Years Old.&nbsp;

Larry was Born May 5th, 1939, in Gothenburg, Nebraska to Howard and Lola (Beerman) Wilmeth. Larry spent his childhood growing up in Gothenburg. His family moved to Dickens, Nebraska after his father’s untimely death. Larry was 9 years old and had to grow up quickly. He started working at a very young age and developed a great work ethic. He always said, “If one person is working everybody should be working”.&nbsp;

Larry graduated high school in 1958 at Wallace high school while living in Dickens. During the summers and after High School Larry worked for a section gang of Burlington Northern Railroad. He also spent at least one season Custom Combining. &nbsp;Larry later worked at Stinger Ranch as a hired hand for 4 years. He moved his family to North Platte when he obtained a job at the Coca Cola bottling Plant. In 1968, Larry finally landed a career job at Union Pacific Railroad; he retired after three decades of holding different train maintenance positions as a carman.&nbsp;

Larry married Barbara McDermott in 1960 and had four children: Blaine Wilmeth of North Platte, Brent (Rochelle) Wilmeth of Bismarck, North Dakota, Brooke Wilmeth of North Platte, and Bridget Wilmeth of North Platte.

Larry had a passion for dancing, he would travel for hours to meet friends and spend the night dancing. Larry also frequented the golf course many days of the week. He loved cars and car races. He of course was an avid Husker fan of Football, Baseball, and Volleyball.&nbsp;

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Betty McDermott.

He is survived by his four children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and younger sister Creta Waltemath.

Larry Blaine Wilmeth (1939-2023)

Helen Higginbotham, longtime resident of North Platte, Nebraska, died on August 3, 2023 at home with her daughter and granddaughter present.

Helen lived through the dustbowl and saw her family’s farm crops completely destroyed by grasshoppers.&nbsp; She endured the deaths of 5 of her 7 children. And yet, despite the suffering, she continued to love and care for those around her. She found happiness and contentment in the ordinary things of everyday life and peace in her faith.&nbsp; She enjoyed Nebraskaland day celebrations and country music, beginning to plan for purchasing the next year's concert tickets even before fighting the traffic home on the last night of the current year's celebration. She enjoyed all the holidays.

She was born at home on the farm of her parents, Ben and Cora Yates, in the country around North Platte on April 15, 1925.&nbsp; She lived all of her life in North Platte, except for two years during WWII when she and her sister Millie joined the women’s wartime work force in Washington, DC., and her final years which she spent with her daughter in Santa Fe, NM.

She is preceded in death by three daughters - Marcia Topliff, Ronna Higginbotham and Janis Kraetz - and two sons, John and Daryl Higginbotham who owned and operated Roger's restaurant in North Platte.&nbsp; Siblings who preceded her in death include Millie Grosh (Roger), Louise Houghteliing (Bob), Florence Peterson and Raymond Yates.

And yet, despite the suffering, she continued to love and care for those around her. She found happiness and contentment in the ordinary things of everyday life and peace in her faith.&nbsp; She enjoyed Nebraskaland day celebrations and country music, beginning to plan for purchasing the next year's concert tickets even before fighting the traffic home on the last night of the current year's celebration. &nbsp; Kathleen Marie "Kate" Easton passed away at the North Platte Care Center on August 6, 2023, at the age of 76. Kathleen was born in North Platte to Charles Jr. and Margaret (Drost) Easton on October 21, 1946. She grew up in North Platte and graduated from N.P.H.S. in 1965. During high school Kathleen worked at the Frontier Resort then following graduation she worked in the typing pool at Hansen &amp; Fuenning Accounting and later was a receptionist for the Salvation Army until retiring. Kathleen was a member of Episcopal Church of Our Savior, Episcopal Ladies Group and Daughters of the American Revolution. Family was important to Kathleen.&nbsp; When she became a mother she took time off from work to raise her children and be a homemaker.&nbsp; Then when her parents needed help, she was their caregiver.&nbsp; Kathleen enjoyed planning family gatherings, cooking and taking family trips in the RV when her kids were young.&nbsp; She was a kind, loving and giving woman. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents and infant siblings, Charles and Susan. Survivors include her three children, Shane Gosnell (Jamaica Riley) and Jessica Gosnell of North Platte and Stephanie (Joshua) Fricke of Oakland, CA; granddaughters, Ula Fricke and Fiona Gosnell; her sisters, Mary (Daniel) Agler and Beth (Mark) Schanou, brother, Chuck Easton, and special friends, Judy Foran and Laura Stewart, all of North Platte; as well as many other family members. Gaylene Joyce (Garrison) Weber age 89, formerly of Arnold, Nebraska died peacefully August 5, 2023, in Kearney, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 12, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Baptist Church in Arnold. &nbsp;The burial will be in the Arnold Cemetery. Gaylene was born on October 2, 1933, to Howard and Lois (Hagin) Garrison in Callaway, Nebraska. During WWII, the family moved to Los Angeles, California where her dad found work in a defense factory. The family later returned to Nebraska where she graduated from Arnold High School in 1951. She received her Teacher's Certificate from Kearney State College and taught school for a few years.

In 1953, she married Marvin Weber. From this marriage they had four children: Vicky, David, Devra, and Daniel. &nbsp;She later drove the school bus in Arnold. Gaylene always loved the kids. She was a long-time member of the Nazarene Church where she taught Sunday School, Bible School, and directed the music.

Gaylene was blessed with a beautiful singing voice and performed at a variety of functions. She enjoyed gardening but her first love was animals, and the Weber family always had several. Through the years, she became famous for her tacos! She proudly prepared them in large quantities, not only for her family, but also countless others. Only God knows how many million she made! Gaylene will be remembered for her kindness, love for others, generosity, and her faithful service to God and others. Her joyful smile was for everyone and was a reflection of her love for Jesus.

Gaylene is survived by three of her four children, David (Marlys) Weber of North Platte, Devra (Douglas) Hoover of Burwell, and Dan Weber of Franklin, along with six grandkids, and eleven great grandkids. &nbsp;She is also survived by two siblings, Pam Speck of Denver, Colorado, and Russell Garrison of Lewellen, Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, her daughter Vicky Rookstool, her parents, and stepfather Donald “Muttt” Shields, granddaughter, Betty Tuebner, son-in-law Jim McElroy, and son-in-law Duane Rookstool.&nbsp;

Brian Mejia Paxtor, 12, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on July 24, 2023, in Gosper County as a result of an automobile accident.

He was born on August 18, 2010, in Lexington, Nebraska to Jesus Mejia and Ana Paxtor Mejia. Brian touched the lives of those around him with his infectious laughter, kind heart, and love for adventure. Brian was a very respectful, responsible and a disciplined young boy. From a young age, Brian demonstrated an eagerness to learn and explore the world. He attended preschool in Lexington before moving to Chicago for elementary school. During this time, he started his career as a soccer player with the team Super Hero Squad. In fifth grade, he returned to Lexington and continued his education at Pershing Elementary before transitioning to Lexington Middle School.&nbsp; Brian's favorite soccer player was Lionel Messi and he loved watching Barcelona and Argentina play. His favorite hobbies included fishing with his dad and brother, playing his PS4 with friends and his favorite colors were blue and red. He spent his last few days hanging out with his closest friends enjoying the fair and playing basketball.

His favorite foods included Baleadas, Red Mexican Tamales, McDonald's McChicken's, s'mores and Reece's Peanut Butter Cups – treats that always brought a smile to his face. His favorite drinks were Dr. Pepper and Cool Blue Gatorade. Brian cherished spending time with friends and engaging in many sports activities. From kicking a soccer ball around with the Lexington Unifut Soccer Club to playing basketball with his friends, he always enjoyed the companionship that came with team sports.&nbsp;As accomplished as he was in various aspects of his life, Brian's proudest accomplishments were achieved through his involvement in the Lexington Unifut Soccer Club. Over the last three years, he proudly represented the Lex Dreamers U14A&amp;B teams carrying #29 in honor of his admiration towards Kylian Mbappé. His dedication, skill, and unwavering spirit on the field made him a valuable teammate and a source of inspiration for others.

Brian Mejia Paxtor graced our lives with his infectious laughter, boundless energy, and unwavering love for those around him.&nbsp; He is survived by his parents, Jesus Mejia and Ana Paxtor Mejia of Lexington, NE, his brother Elmer Mejia Paxtor, and his sisters Wendy Mejia Paxtor and Kayla Mejia Paxtor – all of Lexington. His grandparents, Celestina Chiguil and Margarito Lopez of Lexington, Marcos Mejia and Dominga Hernandez of Honduras also mourn his loss. In addition to his immediate family, Brian is remembered fondly by his aunts: Rosmy Lopez (Giovanni Valente) of Kearney, Ashley Chiguil of Lexington, Josefina Chiguil of Chicago, Illinois; Carmela Saquic (Pedro Chiguil) of Chicago; Oneyda Mejia of Chicago; Isabella Paxtor of Guatemala. Duane Kinder age 63 of Broken Bow, NE passed away August 2, 2023, at the Jennie M Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow, NE.

Duane Edward Kinder was born December 15, 1959, in Cambridge, NE to Norman and Arliss (Brown) Kinder. Duane graduated from Holbrook High School in 1978. After high school, Duane moved to Cozad, where he lived for several years. He later moved to Callaway, then settled in Broken Bow.

Duane enjoyed restoring and showing old cars. He was very talented with auto body and working with his hands, winning multiple awards for his work. Duane worked at several locations in the Broken Bow area- Fixed Right Auto, Gateway Motors, Connely’s Camper Corner, and V- Bar Trailer Sales. After his health failed, Duane enjoyed spending time at the family farm.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents Norman and Arliss Kinder.

Duane is survived by daughters Heather Kinder of Cozad and Jamie Fochtman of Gothenburg, five grandchildren Kaden, Ethan, Rori, Emmalyn, and Paul Isaac, his longtime girlfriend, Rhonda Sheneman of Broken Bow, and children Amber and Jenn, two sisters Valarie (Alex) Difuntorum of Lincoln, and Daralis Kinder of Overland Park, KS and many lifelong friends.

Duane Kinder (1959-2023)

Rodney Ray Swanson, 87, of rural Overton, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 1st, 2023, at his home surrounded by family and friends.

Rod was born September 10th, 1935, in Lexington, NE to Kenneth and Evelyn (Young) Swanson.

 He was an only child and lived in Gosper County until he was 4 years old. They moved to Dawson County where he went to grade school at District 7 and District 21. Rod participated in 4-H and was honored with trips to Chicago and Washington, DC. He was also the state public speaking champion in 1951. He graduated from Overton High School in 1953 and participated in football, basketball and track. Rod joined the National Guard in 1953 during the Korean War and served until 1961. He attained the rank of Master Sergeant and was discharged as Sergeant First Class. He attended UNL for 2 years where he was a member of the FarmHouse Fraternity and block &amp; bridle club. He was a champion sheep showman in 1954.

Rod married Patricia Lauby on September 3rd, 1958. The union was blessed with 5 children: Kevin, Kristi, Daniel, Bryce and Brooke. Rod started farming in 1961 and enjoyed expanding his farm with his boys. They were some of the first to irrigate with center pivots. He has been a member of the Trinity Lutheran church in Lexington since 1993. He served on the board of directors and was chairman of congress, as well as serving on the elders committee. Rod was the president of the Nebraska Corn Growers Association in 1986-1987. He was also on the National Corn development foundation, Lexington co-op board and Farm Bureau board. His family received the Farm Family of the Year in 2000, given by the Lexington area Chamber of Commerce. He sold products for Pioneer Seed for 25 years.

On January 27th, 1996, Rod married Shirley Hoos. Rod's passion was collecting precision toy tractors. He also enjoyed driving around on his John Deere Gator admiring the farm he and his family built. Rod's biggest joy in life was being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He had an undying love for his faith and his family. That love was obvious during each heartbreaking loss of two sons, Dan (1986) and Bryce (2022), whom he undoubtedly is enjoying a reunion with alongside our Lord and Savior. Rod never knew a stranger. His big heart and generous personality will live on forever.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Kevin (Kelly) Swanson of Overton, Kristi Shafer of Overton, Brooke Kohnen of Kearney, and daughter-in-law Leah Swanson of Eddyville. Grandchildren: Taylor (Kelley) Swanson, Jessica Shafer, Jared Shafer, Joel (Bailee) Shafer, Tara Swanson, Stacy Swanson, Kinzy (Brent) Carmody, Baley (Cooper) Davenport, Claire Sorrell, and Lauren Sorrell. Great-grandchildren: Ansley Swanson, Carson Hageman, Saige Swanson, Addison, Maxton and Hutchinson Carmody, Trux and Traylin Davenport, as well as many extended family and farming friends.

Rod is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and two sons, Dan and Bryce.

Richard W. “Dick” Allbright of Cozad passed away Monday, July 31, 2023 at Kearney Regional Medical Center at the age of 66. Richard was born August 20, 1956 at Broken Bow, Nebraska to Claude and Audrey (Holcomb) Allbright. He graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1975. Richard married Tammy Jo Darnall. Their union was blessed with 7 children: Matthew, Nathan, Christopher, Callie, Emily, Andrea and David. He worked construction most of his life, and was a night monitor at South Central Development in Cozad until his retirement. Richard was a Webelos Leader and Boy Scout Leader. He enjoyed camping and fishing in South Dakota. He was a Star Trek fan, loved John Wayne movies, and playing card games. Richard never missed his morning and afternoon coffee and tea groups. &nbsp;He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Audrey Allbright; and wife, Tammy Allbright. &nbsp;Survivors include his children, Matt Allbright, Nathan Allbright, Christopher (Courtonie) Allbright, David (Sheri Crosier) Allbright, Callie Allbright, Emily Allbright and Andrea (Andrew) McClellen; grandchildren, Aiden, Maison, Aryiah, Mackenziee, and Zackary; and many other family members and friends.

Barbara Ann Baue, 87, of North Platte passed away on August 2, 2023. Barb was born November 15th, 1935 to Henry and Neva (Penney) Hoeft of Columbus. Raised on the farm, she attended country school and later attended high school at Genoa, Nebraska where she was a good student, a cheerleader, and drum majorette of the marching band. There she met her life-long love, Charles Baue, and the two married shortly after graduation on December 19, 1953. They soon settled in Lincoln where she worked at Cornhusker Bank while Chuck completed college. Together they raised three children, Penney, Keith, and Kimberly. The family relocated to North Platte in 1966. There, Barb was able to take a few college courses of her own and worked at Nebraska Machinery, Gateway Realty, and Brown Williamson until her retirement in 2001; a deserved rest that allowed them to enjoy many trips together, especially to Padre Island, TX.&nbsp;

Never one to take a title, or credit for her work, Barb worked tirelessly for her church, family, friends, and her community. While Charles served on various boards, it was Barb who quietly supported both him and the organizations they served. She was the first to volunteer for any and all things that needed to be done at her church and was a staple in making Nebraskaland Days events a success. She enjoyed her time in the Cody Cavalry, serving drinks and food at the rodeos and concerts each year, and was honored alongside Chuck as he received the Dale Studley Award in 2021. Her bountiful vegetable garden always fed friends and neighbors for miles around and her Christmas brunch was a treasured annual event. Her legendary potato salad graced the table of every family gathering and will never again be duplicated.&nbsp;

Left to treasure her memory are her husband of 69 years, her children, Penney (Chip) Feltz of Ogallala, Keith Baue of Lincoln, and Kimberly Baue of Pocatello, ID, 4 grandchildren, Chrissa (Michael) Schlake of Ogallala, Bo (Becky) Feltz of Kearney, Jess (Beth) Feltz of Lincoln, and Jonah DeCent of Omaha, 5 great grandchildren, Ella, Lucy and Hanna Schlake of Ogallala, and Cooper and Chase Feltz of Kearney, and her brother, Jerry (Pricilla) Hoeft of Bridgeport, MN. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Deloris and Nina, and an infant granddaughter, Brooklyn Feltz.

Erma Lee Winchester, age 80, of Broken Bow, NE. died Monday July 31, 2023, at the Callaway District Hospital in Callaway, NE.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 4, 2023, at 10:00 AM at the E-Free Church in Broken Bow with Pastor Jeff Nielsen officiating. &nbsp;The burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery. &nbsp;Visitation will be Thursday, August 3rd from 10:00 AM to 7 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary with family greeting friends from 5 to 7 PM. &nbsp;Memorials are suggested to the Callaway District Hospital. &nbsp;Govier Brothers Mortuary are in charge of arrangements. Erma was born on October 12, 1942, to Anton and I. Bernita (Hanks) Dramse in Alliance, NE. &nbsp;She grew up in the Hay Springs/Rushville area until they made the move to Broken Bow when she was in the fourth grade. &nbsp;Erma met the love of her life, Merritt, when she was 13 and they were married on July 26, 1959, when she was just 16. &nbsp;She then went on to graduate from Broken Bow High School in 1960. &nbsp;From this union were two children: Nick Joe and Rhonda ReNae`.

After graduating, Erma began working at Broken Bow State Bank where she was a bank teller for several years. &nbsp;She then began working at Broken Bow Municipal Utilities where she remained until she retired exactly 2 weeks after she was given the ok by Merritt to quit her job as her last child was married off and they officially had no kids in the house.

Her hobbies consisted of playing in her flower beds, collecting, and selling antiques, going to auctions, playing her drums and going to her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s many events.

She is survived by her son Nick (Rhonda Guernsey) Winchester of Broken Bow, NE and their children Brandi (Jordan) Tucker of Broken Bow, NE, Vincent (Veronica) Winchester of Omaha, Joseph (Hope) Winchester of Broken Bow, NE, and Shelby (Isaac) Deaton of Valdez, AK and their daughter Rhonda (Walt Myers) of Merna, NE, and their children Allycia (Logan) McMullen of Milburn, Blain Myers (Kesia Barleen) of Broken Bow, NE, Luke (Vanessa) Myers of Merna, NE, and Tamara (Nathan) Kreutzer of Lincoln, NE and 14 great grandchildren with 2 more blessings on the way. Brother Jim (Ila) Dramse of Grand Island, NE, and many nieces and nephews.

Arthur Charles Oswald, of North Platte, Nebraska, died at 5:05 pm on July 31, 2023 at Great Plains Health.

He was born February 21,1936, at Carroll, IA to Peter and Teresa Oswald. &nbsp;He grew up in Carroll County and graduated high school from St. Bernard's Catholic School in Breda, IA. &nbsp;He attended two years in the Catholic seminary at Loras College in Dubuque, IA.

 </figure>Arthur Charles Oswald, of North Platte, Nebraska, died at 5:05 pm on July 31, 2023 at Great Plains Health.He was born February 21,1936, at Carroll, IA to Peter and Teresa Oswald. &nbsp;He grew up in Carroll County and graduated high school from St. Bernard's Catholic School in Breda, IA. &nbsp;He attended two years in the Catholic seminary at Loras College in Dubuque, IA.He entered the Army Reserves on May 14, 1958 serving during Peacetime and was honorably discharged. &nbsp;Arthur met Virginia Ann Kunze while they both worked at Mutual of Omaha. &nbsp;They were united in marriage on August 25, 1962, at St. Cecelia's Cathedral Chapel after which the couple lived in Omaha and had three children. &nbsp;In Omaha, Beatrice and Hastings Arthur was an insurance salesman. &nbsp;In 1972, he, along with a partner, started Tri City Wholesale, in Grand Island, NE, a grocery supplier to restaurants and businesses. &nbsp;In 1987, he began working for CashWa Distributing in North Platte and was transferred to Lincoln, NE, where he worked until he retired in 2008. &nbsp;Arthur and Virginia moved back to North Platte in 2009.Arthur was a member of fast pitch softball and basketball teams for Jim's Bar in Omaha. &nbsp;He was a member of the Jaycee's where he won the state Speak Up award in 1971. &nbsp;He had a beautiful tenor voice and sang in the choir at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. &nbsp;He was an active member of Sertoma where he held the office of President during his involvement.Arthur was an excellent salesman building strong relationships with his customers. &nbsp;He loved boating, sailing and fishing. &nbsp;He taught his children respect for authority, how to work hard and stand up for the little guy. &nbsp;He was very generous. &nbsp;He was a good husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. &nbsp; &nbsp;Survivors include his wife, Virginia Oswald; sons, John Oswald (Luisa) and Jerome Oswald; and daughter, Anne (John) O'Connor; grandchildren, Nick Oswald, Josh (Courtney) Oswald, Kylie (Tyler) Harper, Darren (Arial) O’Connor, Lucas O'Connor, Leah O'Connor, Pamala Oswald, Trinity Oswald, Renato Oswald, Jerry Oswald Jr., Angie Oswald; and great grandchildren, Rylan, Owen, Mason, Camden, Lane, Brooks, Logan, and Jackie Joy; Brother, Leon (Florence) Oswald; sisters, Glady Nieland and Marge (Bob) Tigges.Those that preceded in death are his parents; Siblings: Rita Reicks, Paul Oswald, Maizie Soyer, Charles Oswald, Dorothy Vogel, Lola Heim, Bill Oswald, Louis Oswald; and his aunts and uncles.Funeral services will be at Carpenter Memorial Chapel at 2:00 pm on Aug. 7,2023, with the Reverend Randall Langhorst officiating. &nbsp;Burial will follow at the North Platte Cemetery. &nbsp;Visitation will be from 2-4 pm, August 6, 2023, at Carpenter Memorial Chapel.
