Wauneta Jean Allen Keller was born January 13, 1930, to Clarence and Martha (Farris) Allen at the Ulrich place in Brown County. She was one of eleven children.&nbsp; Wauneta graduated from Ainsworth High School in 1950. She married Phil Keller on February 10, 1950, at Springview, NE. To this union six children were born: Jim, Bob, Bonnie, Valeta, Rosiland, and Rhonda.

Phil and Wauneta owned and operated Keller Electric in Ainsworth, NE. Wauneta was the administrative assistant for the company for many years and was proud of the business’ success. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts and encouraged her grandkids to participate as well. She loved playing different games with the grandkids and on occasion might have accused one or two of them of cheating to win. Wauneta enjoyed being a Girl Scout leader and also participated in bowling leagues. It brought her great joy to travel to several state tournaments, bringing home hardware to show off her skills.&nbsp; Music was a big part of Wauneta’s life. She played music with her family and provided entertainment for the community as well. She played on the Long Pine Railroad Half Hour show and also traveled to Norfolk and played on the radio at Tom’s music house with her daughters. She played in bands with her brothers and daughters and traveled all over singing for others. Wauneta was involved in the initial stages of bringing the Country Music Festival to Ainsworth. She was hands on with the planning, organizing, and also as a participant. &nbsp;A favorite pastime of Wauneta was being outside enjoying birds and planting flowers. She loved making banana bread and Rice Krispy bars when the grandkids would come to visit. Her favorite was her “lap partner” Daisy Mae. Daisy brought such joy to her life and never left her side in the end.

Wauneta was preceded in death by her son Jim Keller of North Platte, NE and ten siblings: Isabelle Jacobitz, Marvin (Jack) Allen, James Allen, Evelyn Hill, Dorothy Jones, Wayne Allen, Darlene Oakes, Gene Allen, Lester Allen, and Elmer Allen. And son-in-law Marc Bellin.

Those left to cherish her memory are: Son, Robert (Stacia) Keller of Longmont, CO. Daughters: Bonnie Bellin of Johnstown, CO; Valeta Hallsted of Gilchrest, CO, Rosiland (Ros) (Bruce) Beebout of Kearney, NE; and Rhonda Keller (Russ) of Hershey, NE. Daughter in law Barbara Keller and special family friend Felix Soto as well as Daisy Mae and 10 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 8 great, great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

An outside memorial service will be held on Friday, September 15, 2023, at 2:00 pm at the home of her daughter, Rhonda Keller, in Hershey, NE. Following the service, the celebration of Wauneta’s life will continue with many of the things that she enjoyed including food, fellowship, music, karaoke, yard games, etc. Memorials may be made to the family in her name for further designation.

Melra Luft, 82, of North Platte passed away Saturday, September 2, 2023.

Melra was born June 11, 1941, to Raymond and Mabel (Thesanvits) Luft in Grand Island, Nebraska. He grew up on the family farm outside of Grand Island. He graduated from Grand Island High School in 1959. After high school he went to Milford and graduated as an auto mechanic.

Melra was married to Caroline Enyeart and to this union four children were born. Returning to Grand Island, Melra started the Cycle Shop. During this time, he was also a truck driver. &nbsp;Later he moved the Cycle Shop to Alliance and worked on the railroad for Burlington Northern. &nbsp;Melra had a special love of motorcycles, flat tracking, Sturgis, and driving truck. He was the past president of the Overland Cycle Club. He was a lifetime member of the Eagles and enjoyed his time at the club in North Platte visiting friends. His hobbies included hunting and fishing.

He is survived by sisters, Nadine Iverson and Delyce Knuth; son, Patrick (Carrie) Luft; daughters, Heidi Luft (special friend-Rick Pickenpaugh), and Carmel (Jeff) Lowry; grandchildren, Iana, Austin, Bailey, Casey, Tate, Tyler, Trevor, Jeffrey, Beth, Chaz, Joseph, Dakota, and Stevie; 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Mabel Luft; brother, Loel Luft; son, John Luft; grandson, Joseph Buresh; and special friend, Lana Pryke.

A celebration of Mel’s life will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the North Platte Eagles Club.

Melra (Mel) L. Luft (1941-2023)

Mary Lois (Smith) Roggow, 92, of North Platte, went to be with Jesus her Lord on Sunday, September 3, 2023. She was surrounded by her children, singing hymns and reading scripture as she entered Heaven.&nbsp;

Mary was born September 18, 1930 to Ross Samuel and Florence (Palser) Smith on a farm near Big Springs, NE. She moved with her family to the Smith Homestead south and west of St Paul, NE at age three. She went to Bunker Hill grade school and completed the 9th grade at St. Paul High School. Mary then attended Southwestern Bible Institute in Waxahachie, TX, receiving her High School diploma in 1949. Mary met her husband, Calvin Roggow in Grand Island and attended Kearney State College for one year before their marriage on June 18, 1950 in Grand Island, NE. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in June 2020 shortly before Cal’s death on October 2, 2020. Music was a huge part of her life and she played the piano and organ for church for over 60 years. She was generous with her time and talent and loved to mentor young people in developing a love for music and spiritual growth. She was known for her community Bible studies, and involvement in Christian Women’s Club. She impacted many lives with her Biblical wisdom, kindness and hospitality. Mary loved being a grandma and great-grandma. In later years her grandchildren made the effort to bring their children to visit. Not only did she want to know all about their interests, but even more importantly she diligently prayed for them that they might know Jesus and grow in their relationship with him. She was a true Christ follower and prayer warrior.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her husband Calvin, parents Ross and Florence Smith, her brothers Dean, Bernard (Becky) and Don Smith; and her in-laws, Willie and Ione Roggow.&nbsp;

Mary is survived by her her son Lowell (Cheri) of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter Carla (Jay) Wardrobe of Gandy, NE; daughter Beth of North Platte; son Brian (Elaine) of Springfield, MO. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.&nbsp;

We were greatly blessed to have had her in our lives for nearly 93 years, her love and prayers will be greatly missed.&nbsp;

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at Carpenter Memorial Chapel on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 2:00 PM with pastor Ray Corlew officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. &nbsp;Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 7th at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements. &nbsp;

Robert David Gross, age&nbsp;86, of Holbrook, NE, passed away at the Central&nbsp;Nebraska Veterans Home in Kearney NE on September 2, 2023.&nbsp;He was born in Ellis, KS on August 29, 1937, to Marcellus and Bertha Gross.&nbsp;&nbsp;Robert graduated from Nebraska School of Agriculture High School in Curtis, NE in 1955.&nbsp;&nbsp;On September 27, 1955, he joined the United States Navy.&nbsp;&nbsp;He served as a Naval Sea Bee in the Atlantic Operations Area. Robert was Honorably Discharged September 26, 1961.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Robert returned home to the family farm north of Holbrook.&nbsp;&nbsp;On August 18, 1969, he was united in marriage to Rosietta Gross at Hays, KS at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Cambridge.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was a Lector, at St. John’s for over 40 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;He played saxophone for years in polka bands in Southwest, NE.&nbsp;&nbsp;Robert raised cattle, corn, wheat, and worked as a crop insurance adjuster for 19 years.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcellus and Bertha; sister, Calysta Rohr.&nbsp;

Robert is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rosiette of Holbrook; three sons, David Gross of&nbsp;North Platte, Kevin (Tara) Gross of Cambridge and Jason (April) Gross of Litchfield, NE; eight grandchildren.&nbsp;

Linda&nbsp;Niess, the daughter of Allen and Thelma Lien, was born in Bottineau, ND, on September 5, 1948. &nbsp;She went to be with Jesus on September 3, 2023, just shy of her 75th birthday. &nbsp;She had been in failing health for the past few months, struggling with the aftermath of 5 strokes. &nbsp;Linda was tired and told her husband, John, of her prayer asking Jesus to take her home. &nbsp;John very graciously honored Linda's request. &nbsp;She was calm, resting and very much at peace when she left, allowing John to escort her to the last moment of life.

After graduating in 1966 from Jamestown High School in North Dakota, Linda and John were united in marriage on January 4, 1967, at Medina, ND. &nbsp;Since the justice of the peace also owned the local hardware store, that is where they married. &nbsp;Linda and John lived in many different places including Fargo, ND, and eventually North Platte. &nbsp;She enjoyed traveling with John, country line dancing, and camping.

Linda is survived by her husband of 56 years, John Niess of North Platte; their son, Mick Niess (Dawn) of South Dakota; daughter, Yvonne Niess of Florida; grandsons, Sergio Garcia (Lilly) of Sweden, John Garcia (Mady) of Elko, NV, and Christian Garcia (Sidney) of Bountiful, UT; granddaughter, Perla Duenas of Florida; her brothers, Dale Lien of Ocean Shores, WA, and Ken Lien (Toshi) of Spokane, WA; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Thelma Lien; her brother, Allen Rodney Lien; sister, Lonnie Stone; and granddaughter, Monica Garcia.

At Linda's request cremation was chosen and there will not be a funeral or any other type of service. &nbsp;She and John will make one last road trip to her hometown of Jamestown, ND, where her remains will be laid to rest in the family plot at Highland Home Cemetery.

Linda Niess (1948-2023)

Norma Lucile (Johnson) Smith, 94, passed away from age-related causes at Elwood Care Center, Elwood, Nebraska, on August 30, 2023.

Norma was born in Cambridge, Nebraska on May 17, 1929, and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1946. On November 9, 1947, she married the love of her life – Robert “Bob” Smith. In May 1949, she and Bob moved to a farmstead southeast of Wilsonville, Nebraska, where they resided until retiring to Cambridge, Nebraska in the fall of 1994.

Norma was a kind and thoughtful soul and will be missed and remembered by the many lives she touched. Cooking for and entertaining her family and friends gave Norma great joy. It never seemed to be a chore for her to prepare a feast for invited guests and any others who would happen to stop by for a visit. Norma was especially well known for the delicious cinnamon twists she baked – which she shared with others, and often donated to local causes. She also loved to sew, crochet, and embroider bedspreads, blankets, and quilts. Times spent “spoiling” her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren were moments she especially cherished.

Norma is survived by her son, Roger (Linette) Smith; daughters, Barbara (Darrel) Muehling, and Virginia (Mark) Johnson; brothers, Paul Johnson, Phillip (Barbara) Johnson, and Bruce Johnson; and sisters, Sharon Bellamy, Sondra Foster, and Judith Zabel; 11 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Grace Johnson; father, Claude Johnson; and stepmother, Ada Johnson; husband, Robert Smith; son, Michael Smith; infant daughter, Brenda Smith; grandson, Trevor Smith; sister, Donna Miller; and brother, Carl Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 620 Penn Street, Cambridge, Nebraska, 69022. Pastor Tim Burke will be officiating. A graveside service and interment at Cambridge cemetery will follow the funeral service. A celebration of Norma’s life will take place in the church fellowship hall, following interment. Arrangements for the day are being handled by Lockenour-Jones Mortuary, Cambridge, Nebraska.

Norma’s family wishes to thank the staff and administrators of Elwood Care Center, Elwood, Nebraska, the staff and administrators of Tri-Valley Assisted Living, Cambridge, Nebraska, and Dr. Shiuvaun Jaeger – all of whom provided love and care for Norma in her final years of life.

On November 9, 1947, she married the love of her life – Robert “Bob” Smith. In May 1949, she and Bob moved to a farmstead southeast of Wilsonville, Nebraska, where they resided until retiring to Cambridge, Nebraska in the fall of 1994.Norma was a kind and thoughtful soul and will be missed and remembered by the many lives she touched. Cooking for and entertaining her family and friends gave Norma great joy. It never seemed to be a chore for her to prepare a feast for invited guests and any others who would happen to stop by for a visit. Norma was especially well known for the delicious cinnamon twists she baked – which she shared with others, and often donated to local causes. She also loved to sew, crochet, and embroider bedspreads, blankets, and quilts. Norma (Johnson) Smith (1929-2023)

September 3, 2023 – the day one of the good guys left us. He was a nice, kind, hard-working gentleman.&nbsp;

Norman Beans, 93, of Cozad, Nebraska has passed away. He was born on September 13, 1929 to Guy and Cora (Fouts) Beans in Denver, Colorado. He was the fifth of six children. When Norm was four years old his family moved to a farm near Lexington, Nebraska. Norm graduated from Lexington High School in 1948 and continued farming with the family.&nbsp;

Norm genuinely loved meeting people and getting to know them. Fortunately, he met a young woman named Marilyn Morris at a dance which not only led to a lifelong friendship, but a sixty-seven-year marriage! In the fall of 1957, while living in Cozad, they welcomed their son, Patrick Eugene. The young family moved to a farm near Sumner, Nebraska for a few years, and then found their way back to Cozad, where Norm worked at Monroe Auto in the Tool and Die department. In 1961, they welcomed their daughter, Joan Marie, and the family of four enjoyed and appreciated their community, surrounded by family and friends.&nbsp;

Norm was a man with many interests and talents. Among them … he was a founding member of the Goldenrod Car Club which recently celebrated their 50th anniversary; a charter member of the Elks and a 22-year member of the Cozad Fire department, where he was honored as Fireman of the Year three times. Norm loved sports and was on the Wolves baseball team and coached Little League baseball. He was part of a 4-H livestock judging team, an interest which he passed on to his son. Over the years Norm developed a passion for collecting old cars and going to car shows. It brought him much joy.

Perhaps the thing that stood out the most about Norm was his love for and commitment to his family. Norm was an accomplished ice skater, snow skier, and trampoline jumper. He shared his enthusiasm with his family and patiently taught them the skills needed so they could enjoy family outings and trips for many years.&nbsp;

Norm taught us the importance of being friendly and courteous to all. He never passed up a cup of hot coffee, slice of homemade pie with a scoop of ice cream and some good conversation, usually related to classic cars! &nbsp;He was preceded in death by his siblings and their spouses, Wilma and Leonard May, Guy Jr and Arlene, Floyd, Richard and LaVon and Alan. Survived by his wife Marilyn; children and their spouses, Pat and Ellen, and Joan; grandchildren, Winston and Emily Beans, Beau Beans and fiancé Kelcie Vanek, Hannah Vadakin, Jacob Vadakin and significant other Toni Jones; great granddaughter, Sophia Jane Beans; sister-in-laws, Pat Beans, Marge Reed and Lillian Morris. There are also many nieces, nephews, and their families who will cherish memories of outings with Uncle Norm. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Memorials are suggested to Cozad Fire and Rescue or Cozad United Methodist Church. Services will be held Monday, September 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cozad United Methodist Church with Pastor Bellarmee Milosi officiating. Burial will follow at Cozad Cemetery. Norman Eugene Beans (1929-2023)

&nbsp; &nbsp; Helena Theresa (Simon) Janousek passed away on September 4, 2023, at the Dundy County Hospital in Benkelman, Nebraska, surrounded by her family.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Helena was born May 30, 1974, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Kay and Jaynee (Shadley) Simon. &nbsp;Her early childhood was spent in St. Charles, Missouri. &nbsp;At the age of 10, she moved to Trenton, Nebraska.

&nbsp; &nbsp; January of 1993, she and Troy Horinek had a son, Devin Michael. Helena would later meet the love of her life, Leslie Janousek. &nbsp;They married on April 17, 1999. &nbsp;Their son, Zachary Phillip was born February 2000.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Helena enjoyed watching her boys participate in their various sporting events, but she also supported local athletes of all ages and sports. &nbsp;Whenever she was able, she attended her nieces’ and nephew’s activities with a favorite being her annual dance recital trip. &nbsp;She enjoyed many types of crafting but in recent years she took up crocheting and could often be found working on a blanket for one of her friends or family. &nbsp;Other favorite activities included: &nbsp;gardening, reality tv, racing (local and NASCAR), eating at the Olive Garden, caring for her fur babies and gambling (she was always up for a trip to the casino usually with her Mom). &nbsp;She looked forward to any opportunity to spend time with family but especially loved bike rides with her husband. &nbsp;Her greatest joy was her boys. &nbsp;Whether it was following Zach’s Navy career or seeing Devin start his own business, she was extremely proud of them.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; Helena was preceded in death by grandmothers, Donna and Phyllis; grandfathers, Glen and Eldon; mother-in-law Annalea; and uncles Doug and Marcy.

Helena Janousek (1974-2023)

Mildred Lois (Millie) Stagemeyer passed away September 1, 2023, at the Elwood Care Center in Elwood, Nebraska at the age of ninety-three.

Millie was born on June 28, 1930, one of three children, born to Ludwig and Anna (Thumm) Rieker in Frontier County, Nebraska. She was baptized on July 7, 1930, and confirmed on April 4, 1944, at St. John Lutheran Church in Eustis, Nebraska. She graduated from Eustis High School in 1948 and began teaching at a rural country school in Frontier County.

Millie married Donald Stagemeyer on July 30, 1950. To this union were born three children: &nbsp;Sharon, Douglas, and Rodney.

Millie served as the Gosper County Deputy Treasurer for several years and as the school Secretary at Elwood Public Schools for 24 years.

As a lifelong member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Elwood, Millie taught Sunday School and Midweek School. She served as an officer for the LWML and for Lutheran Brotherhood and was a coordinator for Thrivent fundraisers.

Millie enjoyed her family, her grandchildren and her many great-grandchildren, playing bridge and other card games. She enjoyed numerous tours around the United States and to Europe with friends and her cousin Evelyn Davis. Millie was an avid gardener and spent many hours caring for her beautiful flowers and faithfully feeding her birds.

After retirement, Millie loved baking oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and German pretzels to share with residents of the Elwood Care Center, visitors to the Senior Center, neighbors, family, and friends.

Millie suffered a stroke in March 2022 and after her release from the hospital, she made her home at Meadowlark Pointe in Cozad, Nebraska. Millie moved to the Elwood Care Center in April 2023 where she lived until present.

Millie is survived by her children; Sharon (Brad) Fong of Woodbury, MN, Doug (Julie) Stagemeyer of Ashland, NE, Rodney (Judy) Stagemeyer of North Platte, NE, 8 grandchildren; Erica Ross, Derek Fong, Matthew (Suzanna) Stagemeyer, Nathan (Amanda) Fong, Pamela Haschke, Ryan (Courtney) Stagemeyer, Cody (Miranda) Stagemeyer and Shelby Stagemeyer, 15 great-grandchildren, her sister; Anita Fagot and her brother; Raymond Rieker, one sister-in-law; Shirley Stagemeyer and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Millie was preceded in death by her mother and father, one sister-in-law; Virginia Rieker, two brothers-in-law; Paul Fagot and Owen Stagemeyer.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested in Millie’s memory to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or Lutheran Hour Ministries. Mildred’s wishes were to be cremated. Mildred Lois Stagemeyer (1930-2023)

&nbsp; Longtime Wellfleet/Maywood resident, Kurt Lee Remus passed away at Great Plains Health on September 3, 2023, at age 82.

Kurt was born to Walter and Dortha Remus on the family ranch near Wellfleet on June 25, 1941.&nbsp; He grew up on the farm northeast of Wellfleet and graduated high school from the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis.

Kurt farmed and ranched his whole life.&nbsp; He was a director on the Maywood Co-op's Board of Directors from 1986 – 1991.&nbsp; He served as the board's vice chairman from 1991 – 1999 and became chairman of the board in 2000.&nbsp; In 2000, Kurt was an integral part in leading the vote to merge Maywood Co-op and Ag Valley Co-op; the merger became effective October 1, 2000.&nbsp; Kurt retired from the Board of Directors in 2001 after the successful merger between the two Co-ops.

He enjoyed farming and deer hunting with friends, and during high school Kurt played in a band. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Grant and wife, Lela Remus, and Loran Remus; nephew-in-law, Ron Bourne; and niece, Linda Williams.

Survivors include his sister, Muriel Yonkers (Carl) of Maywood; sister-in-law, Betty Remus; nieces and nephews, Sheri Bourne (David Collins), Jerry Remus (Peggy), Pat Baker (Tim), Pam Clark (Bob), Janet Remus, Gaylene Stinman (John),&nbsp; Keith Williams, Jeff Yonkers and Ed Yonkers (Sheila); as well as numerous great-nieces, great- nephews and close friends.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Lori Susanne Dack-Pearson passed away at home on her farm surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday Sept. 2, 2023, after a long battle with metastatic breast cancer at the age of 58.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Lori was born in McCook, NE on August 10, 1965 to Richard and Karen (Barratt) Dack of McCook, NE. &nbsp;She graduated from McCook High School with the class of 1983 where she participated in art club, drama, speech, band, and as a Bison Majorette. She was very involved in the local 4-H organizations throughout their life, exhibiting her sewing and modeling skills at local and state levels and as a Club leader for her children. She attended McCook Community College and Kearney State College, studying fashion merchandising before marrying Harold B. Pearson of McCook in 1986. Together they had three children: Morgan, Chance, and Ian.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Lori wore several hats during her life including working as hired hand on her father’s farm during irrigation, working in the local fashion industry at Carmicheal’s, as an Advertising agent at KICX radio group, she was a local business owner of the Sears Hometown stores, and was a Para educator with McCook Public Schools’ Alternative School program. Her compassion, creativity, charisma, and charm allowed her to make so many meaningful connections and longtime friendships with her coworkers, employees who were more like family, customers, and with her students who she loved with all her heart. Lori was a creative soul and brought her own unique spark to everything she did. She loved sewing and spending time planning and caring for her “Hippie Chick” garden and sharing those loves with her grandchildren who she thought were just magic made real.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Lori loved her family with her whole heart. Her husband, children, and her beloved son and daughter in law. &nbsp;Her grandchildren that were her entire world, she never wasted an opportunity to make sure that they knew how important they were to her. That love and compassion also extended to the individuals that she lovingly called her “stolen children” who came into her life in various ways. Each was uniquely loved and cherished, Lori extended her unconditional love and acceptance to each of them.&nbsp;

&nbsp; Debbie Lynn Patten was born on July 1, 1963 in Springfield, Massachusetts to Thedore and Linda Patten. Debbie worked for several years in the Human Resources department for Walmart/Sams Club until most recently serving as an administrative assistant for Dundy County Hospital. Debbie enjoyed being a resident of Benkelman and was most recently planning to marry her life partner, Richard Boon. 

Debbie was involved in the local pool league, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, hosting family and friends, cooking and going on trail rides with Richard in their side-by-side ATV. 

Debbie passed away Thursday morning, August 31, 2023, at the Dundy County Hospital, Benkelman, NE. she was 60 years of age.

Ivan G. Regier, 83, of Grant, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023, in North Platte, Nebraska.

Born on September 6, 1939, in Lewellen, Nebraska, Ivan was the son of the late P.A. and Marie (Hubert) Regier. He graduated from Freeman Academy in Freeman, South Dakota, with the Class of 1957 and went on to graduate from Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas (Class of 1962), where he studied business and philosophy.

In the autumn of 1961, Ivan married Ann Preheim, whom he had fortuitously met on a trip to visit his sister in South Dakota and later dated at Bethel College. Shortly after their marriage, the couple moved to Japan to serve as house parents for missionary children with the Board of Missions for the General Conference Mennonite Church. Following two years abroad, they returned to the United States and settled on the Regier family farm north of Madrid, Nebraska where they would reside for much of their married lives before constructing a home near Westview in Grant, Nebraska.

Throughout his life, while Ivan was a farmer, he was most notably the proprietor of Regier Land Improvement, providing earth-moving services for clients across western Nebraska and eastern Colorado. Respected for his innovative work with heavy equipment, Ivan was known as a lifelong learner and an early adopter of new technology and practices in his field. He was passionate about hearing and sharing stories and enjoyed being known as "The Man with the Upside-down Face" and an "undercover Santa" due to his prodigious white beard. A lover of all things musical, Ivan also enjoyed participating in choirs and singing groups over the years, particularly barbershop.

Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, P.A. and Marie Regier, and his brothers, Karl, Herman, and Pete Jr., and sister, Marian. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Ann, of Grant; his sons, Mark (Marlene) Regier of Elkhart, Indiana, and Michael Regier of Aurora, Colorado; one grandson, Mateo Regier; and sister, Ruth Preheim of Freeman, South Dakota.

Dudley Edward Wolf was born on October 7, 1934, at Alma, NE to Edward and Gladys (Weinand) Wolf. &nbsp;Dudley attended Ansley School and graduated from Ansley High School. &nbsp;After high school Dudley enlisted in the US Army. &nbsp;After his Military Service Dudley returned to the family farm. &nbsp;

On March 30, 1989, Dudley was united in marriage to Shirley Marie Johnston. &nbsp;They made their home on the family farm. &nbsp;In 1999 Dudley retired from farming. &nbsp;Dudley and Shirley moved to Ansley.

Dudley loved farming, fishing, and hunting.

Dudley is survived by his wife Shirley of Ansley, sister Margery (Lloyd) Trew of Kearney, and a brother Richard (Patti) Wolf of Danville, Indiana. &nbsp;

Gary Cobaugh Sr., 76, of Ogallala, NE passed away on August 29, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Gary was born September 22, 1946, in Arthur, Nebraska, to Cecil and Kathyrine (Bowers) Cobaugh. After graduating from Ogallala High School, Gary enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country in the Vietnam War in five separate campaigns.

On March 16, 1969, Gary married Barbara Richardson in Carson, California. Their union was blessed with two children: Gary "Jamie" Jr. and Julie. The family resided in the Los Angeles area for several years before relocating to Ogallala in the 1970s. There, Gary worked as a machinist and plater at Arnold Engineering.

Quiet yet expressive, Gary was a loving father and doting grandfather. His love for football was well-known, particularly his allegiance to the Huskers, the Denver Broncos, and all the local Ogallala Indian sports. His affinity for vehicles became a running joke among friends; Gary changed cars more frequently than most people change their furnace filters.

Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Barb, in 2014; parents, Cecil and Kathyrine Cobaugh; siblings Myrna, Leonard, Bill, Joe, and LaRene Jurgena; and brothers-in-law Les Potts, Johnny Seffron, and Daryl Jurgena.

He is survived by his son, Gary "Jamie" (Robin) Cobaugh, Jr. of Ogallala; daughter, Julie Cobaugh of Ogallala; eight grandchildren, Ethan, Amaris, Brianna, Teagan, Demi, Cienna, Shianne, and Jayson; siblings Jan (Rich) Adrien, Joyce Seffron, Patty (Don) Fuqua, Tony Cobaugh (Deb Tobler), and Karen Potts; and sister-in-law Cindy Cobaugh.

Gary J Cobaugh Sr. (1946-2023)

&nbsp; Larry Dean Reynolds, age 77 of North Platte, was peacefully swept away to Heaven on September 1, 2023, by his sister "Glory" on her birthday. Larry, the son of Bonnie and Scoop Reynolds, attended Roosevelt Elementary and Adams Middle School until the 9th grade.&nbsp; When he was 16 he started his dream of being a cowboy at the Pawnee Springs Ranch in Maxwell.&nbsp; With this being his passion, Larry went on to work for Kewitt and Sons on several ranches including the Britton, North Ranch, and Pawnee Springs, until the mid 80's when he left the ranch. Larry married Janet Groff in 1966 and to this union sons, Patrick and Obern "Cody", were born.&nbsp; With his cowboy days behind him, Larry moved to Lexington for a career at IBP and he went on to work until retiring in 2010 from Tyson Inc.&nbsp; He and Janet returned to North Platte to be closer to the family and he found joy in a part-time job with the City of North Platte Sanitation Department. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet, and their son, Obern "Cody" Reynolds; his parents, Bonnie and Scoop; sister, Gloria "Glory" Fuller; granddaughter, Chantel; and other family and his many furry friends.  </figure>&nbsp; Larry Dean Reynolds, age 77 of North Platte, was peacefully swept away to Heaven on September 1, 2023, by his sister "Glory" on her birthday. Larry, the son of Bonnie and Scoop Reynolds, attended Roosevelt Elementary and Adams Middle School until the 9th grade.&nbsp; When he was 16 he started his dream of being a cowboy at the Pawnee Springs Ranch in Maxwell.&nbsp; With this being his passion, Larry went on to work for Kewitt and Sons on several ranches including the Britton, North Ranch, and Pawnee Springs, until the mid 80's when he left the ranch. Larry married Janet Groff in 1966 and to this union sons, Patrick and Obern "Cody", were born.&nbsp; With his cowboy days behind him, Larry moved to Lexington for a career at IBP and he went on to work until retiring in 2010 from Tyson Inc.&nbsp; He and Janet returned to North Platte to be closer to the family and he found joy in a part-time job with the City of North Platte Sanitation Department. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet, and their son, Obern "Cody" Reynolds; his parents, Bonnie and Scoop; sister, Gloria "Glory" Fuller; granddaughter, Chantel; and other family and his many furry friends. &nbsp; Tanner Christian Aston, 28 of North Platte, passed away suddenly on August 27, 2023, while vacationing in California. Tanner was born March 2, 1995, in Phoenix, AZ, to Boyd &amp; Shae.&nbsp; He began his adventurous lifestyle very early on, learning to ride a bike at 2, a motorcycle at 3 and started racing at 7 years old. He was an excellent baseball player and could usually be found on a skateboard, mountain bike, BMX bike, or with a racquet or golf club in his hand. Tanner affectionately earned the nickname Blue Gradient because of the helmet he wore at competitions. At the age of 13, Tanner became a big brother to Piper Caldwell and they soon discovered a love of all things Toy Story. 7 months later, he earned the title again to Thomas Aston. His faithful companion was his black pug, Isabel. After Tanner graduated from North Platte High School in 2013, he hit a 5-year roadblock in the vicious cycle of addiction, yet overcame it to become a drug and alcohol counselor. His most recent passion was being a drone pilot. He would build drones of all sizes, for any project and fly any chance he got. Tanner passed away just 4 days after a drone competition in Oregon proclaiming it was the best time he's ever had. He owned Blue Gradient FPV, a successful drone company, creating videos, commercials and more. His smile would light up any room and his laughter would fill that room. We love you for infinity and beyond. Tanner was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Doris Paul-Kramer; grandmothers, Carole Aston and Lynette Caldwell-Peters. Tanner Aston (1995-2023)

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Eunice M. Shepherd, age 92, resident of North Platte, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at her niece's home in Gothenburg, Nebraska. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Eunice was born on May 17, 1931 in Oconto, Nebraska the daughter of Gerald Earl Horn and Velma Hazel (Garrnger) Horn. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She attended school in Lexington, Nebraska and graduated from Lexington High School.&nbsp; On June 12, 1950, she married Ivan Shepherd in Lexington, Nebraska and together they had two children.&nbsp; Eunice worked as a bookkeeper at her husband, Ike's, Standard Service Station in Arnold, Nebraska, and various other jobs in the Arnold area.&nbsp; They lived and raised their family in the Arnold, Nebraska area for many years.&nbsp; Following retirement, she and Ike moved to North Platte, Nebraska and worked together as camp hosts at several National Parks.&nbsp; She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, D.A.V. Auxiliary, and the Handy Anns Extension Club.&nbsp; She was an active volunteer with the MOPS program, Golden Spike Tower, North Platte Senior Center, and the RSVP group.&nbsp; Eunice volunteered over 16 years and 5 months with lifetime hours of 7,878.&nbsp; She volunteered as recently as April of 2023, only taking off from volunteering when she was having health issues.&nbsp; Eunice loved meeting new people through her volunteer work.&nbsp; She enjoyed latch hook, gardening, yardwork, listening to all kinds of music, walking, traveling, and was an avid reader.&nbsp; Eunice will be missed by all who knew and loved her. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Gregory Ivan Shepherd of Minden, Nebraska; grandchildren, Victoria Shepherd, Robin Shepherd, and Samantha (Jason) Hopkinson; great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren; sister, Wanda Howell of Cozad, Nebraska; brother, Gary (Kathy) Horn of Elwood, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Shirley Stombaugh and Karen Horn, both of Kearney, Nebraska; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws; her husband, Ivan; a daughter, Sally Perry; and by brothers, Glenn, Dwight, Clifton, and Ronald Horn; sisters, Beverly Stark and Phyllis Shepherd; brothers-in-law, Vernon Shepherd, Eldred Shepherd, and Ronald Howell; sisters-in-law, Mable Hicks and Velma Garringer and their spouses. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;A memorial service and celebration of live will be held at 12:30 p.m. CST on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Calvary Baptist Church in North Platte, Nebraska with Rev. Eunice M. Shepherd  (1931-2023)

Anita Louise Brown was born on August 20, 1936 in Dupree, South Dakota to Charles Leach and Ula Marjorie Brummet, and passed away on July 28, 2023 in Fort Worth, Texas at the age of 86 years old.

Anita grew up in Dupree, South Dakota and graduated from Dupree in 1954.&nbsp; She had 3 siblings: Valera, Earl, and Chuck.&nbsp; She moved to Arnold, Nebraska and met Loren Brown in 1958, and married him in August of 1959.&nbsp; Together they had 5 children and raised them in Stapleton, North Platte, Sutherland, and Tryon in Nebraska.&nbsp; They settled in Arnold, Nebraska in 1990.&nbsp; She worked in the health care field as a CNA and later in childcare.

Anita loved camping, fishing, and boating and she cherished her grandchildren and spending summer with them.

Anita was loved by many and was kind and caring to everyone she met.&nbsp; She loved to cook, and Christmas was very important to her as she always wanted her family together.&nbsp; She took great joy in hosting family reunions in Arnold, NE.&nbsp; She loved to garden and had a beautiful yard and flowers.

Anita is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marjorie Leach; in-laws, Alma and Gladys Brown; son, Mark Brown; grandson, Tucker Brown; sister and brother-in-law, Valera and Clyde Pickett; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Charlotte Nansel; and brother-in-law, Jim Brown.

Anita is survived by her beloved husband, Loren, of North Platte, Nebraska; son Rod (Twila) of Paxton, Nebraska; daughter-in-law, Tina Warner of Carthage, Texas; son, Todd (Kathy) Brown of North Platte, Nebraska; son Derwyn (Carolyn) Brown of North Platte, Nebraska; daughter, Heidi (Bart) Sinner of Springtown, Texas; brothers Earl (Pat) Leach of Carter Lake, Iowa and Chuck (Dianna) Leach of Grand Island, Nebraska; as well as seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

Memorial Services will be on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. CST at the First Baptist Church in Arnold, NE with Pastor Irv Jennings officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in the Arnold Cemetery.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Anita Louise Brown  (1936-2023)

Mark Wells age 56 of Broken Bow, NE passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023, from injuries sustained in an accident.

Funeral Services will be Monday, September 4, 2023, at 10:00 am at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow, NE with Pastor Phil Sloat officiating. On November 1st, 1966, Mark Francis Wells was born to Reid Wells and Shirley (Keefe) Gottula. &nbsp;Mark grew up in the Gates area and attended the Gates community grade school through the 8th grade. &nbsp;He graduated from Anselmo-Merna high school in 1985 and went on to Southeast Community college in Lincoln to earn a welding degree in 1990. &nbsp;

In 1993, Mark married his high school sweetheart Kristine Leibhart. &nbsp;They lived in Lincoln for their first year of marriage before moving to Grand Island and then to Doniphan in 1995 after purchasing their first home. &nbsp;In 1997 they welcomed their first daughter, Sydney Marie and their second daughter, Ellie Rose, in 2000. &nbsp;In 2001 they decided it was time to move home to be closer to their families. They made their home west of Broken Bow and completed their family with the birth of another daughter, Haley Jo, in 2003.&nbsp;

Mark’s circle of friends was large as he never had a job where he didn’t make lasting friendships. &nbsp;From his earlier years at V-Bar Trailer Sales, Duncan Aviation, Burlington Northern, Sargent Pipe to Custer County Highway Department, City of Broken Bow and lastly Nebraska State Department of Roads. &nbsp;If you were lucky enough to be in this circle, there were many hunting and fish stories shared. &nbsp;In these last years, his deer hunting days were shared helping Ellie and Haley find the big deer. &nbsp;His girls all have a love of the outdoors because of their dad. Taking three girls fishing was challenging but Mark wouldn’t have had it any other way. Baiting their hooks and fixing their snagged lines with patience and gritted teeth. His giggle was contagious, and his signature drink of Old Milwaukee Light was well known. &nbsp;Many say he knew he wouldn’t have to share his drink with others with his unique choice. &nbsp;His phone calls to let you know “there is a storm coming your way” and his crazy practical jokes will be missed for sure. His mind was always thinking of ideas to play a joke on a neighbor, co-worker, or unsuspecting buddy. Mark was always down for a good time. His greatest loves were his family and his wonderful caring mother known to all as Nana.

Mark was proceeded in death by his father Reid, stepfather Stan Gottula, father-in-law Keith Leibhart, niece Jade Wells, great nephew Kellen Charron, along with his grandparents, Francis and Audrey Keefe and Frank and Gretchen Wells. &nbsp;

Mark leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Kristy and their three daughters Sydney and Haley both of Lincoln, Ellie (Keenan Stupka) of Broken Bow and their faithful (who some might believe to be his favorite girl) miniature schnauzer Roxie. &nbsp;Also, brothers Mike (Tammy) Wells of Anselmo and Mitch (Kari) Wells of Axtell along with sister Melinda Kennel of Norfolk. Mother Shirley Gottula, Mother-in-Law Jeanne Leibhart, brothers-in-law Larry (Cathy) Leibhart of Anselmo, Randy (Kim) Leibhart of Merna; and sister-in-law Kathy (Jim) Eberle of Broken Bow and a host of nieces and nephews.

Words of encouragement may be left at&nbsp;<a href="https://www.govierbrothers.com/">www.govierbrothers.com</a>.On November 1st, 1966, Mark Francis Wells was born to Reid Wells and Shirley (Keefe) Gottula. &nbsp;Mark grew up in the Gates area and attended the Gates community grade school through the 8th grade. &nbsp;He graduated from Anselmo-Merna high school in 1985 and went on to Southeast Community college in Lincoln to earn a welding degree in 1990. &nbsp;In 1993, Mark married his high school sweetheart Kristine Leibhart. &nbsp;They lived in Lincoln for their first year of marriage before moving to Grand Island and then to Doniphan in 1995 after purchasing their first home. &nbsp;In 1997 they welcomed their first daughter, Sydney Marie and their second daughter, Ellie Rose, in 2000. &nbsp;In 2001 they decided it was time to move home to be closer to their families. They made their home west of Broken Bow and completed their family with the birth of another daughter, Haley Jo, in 2003.&nbsp;Mark’s circle of friends was large as he never had a job where he didn’t make lasting friendships. &nbsp;From his earlier years at V-Bar Trailer Sales, Duncan Aviation, Burlington Northern, Sargent Pipe to Custer County Highway Department, City of Broken Bow and lastly Nebraska State Department of Roads. &nbsp;If you were lucky enough to be in this circle, there were many hunting and fish stories shared. &nbsp;In these last years, his deer hunting days were shared helping Ellie and Haley find the big deer. &nbsp;His girls all have a love of the outdoors because of their dad. Taking three girls fishing was challenging but Mark wouldn’t have had it any other way. Baiting their hooks and fixing their snagged lines with patience and gritted teeth. His giggle was contagious, and his signature drink of Old Milwaukee Light was well known. &nbsp;Many say he knew he wouldn’t have to share his drink with others with his unique choice. &nbsp;His phone calls to let you know “there is a storm coming your way” and his crazy practical jokes will be missed for sure. His mind was always thinking of ideas to play a joke on a neighbor, co-worker, or unsuspecting buddy. Mark was always down for a good time. His greatest loves were his family and his wonderful caring mother known to all as Nana.Mark was proceeded in death by his father Reid, stepfather Stan Gottula, father-in-law Keith Leibhart, niece Jade Wells, great nephew Kellen Charron, along with his grandparents, Francis and Audrey Keefe and Frank and Gretchen Wells. &nbsp;Mark leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Kristy and their three daughters Sydney and Haley both of Lincoln, Ellie (Keenan Stupka) of Broken Bow and their faithful (who some might believe to be his favorite girl) miniature schnauzer Roxie. &nbsp;Also, brothers Mike (Tammy) Wells of Anselmo and Mitch (Kari) Wells of Axtell along with sister Melinda Kennel of Norfolk. Mother Shirley Gottula, Mother-in-Law Jeanne Leibhart, brothers-in-law Larry (Cathy) Leibhart of Anselmo, Randy (Kim) Leibhart of Merna; and sister-in-law Kathy (Jim) Eberle of Broken Bow and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mark Wells  (1966-2023)

Marilyn Mae (Brown) Biehl, age 88, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at the Elwood Care Center.

She was born on February 2, 1935 in Montgomery City, Missouri to Melvin and Selma (May) Brown.&nbsp; Marilyn lived in Missouri until 1949, when her family moved to Lexington, Nebraska.&nbsp; Marilyn graduated from Lexington High School with the Class of 1953.

While in High School, Marilyn met the love of her life, Jim, during a High School Church Fellowship.&nbsp; Marilyn was united in marriage to James "Jim" Biehl on February 14, 1954 in Lexington, NE at the First Presbyterian Church.&nbsp; Two children were blessed to the union:&nbsp; Roger James and Janice Kay.&nbsp; The family made their home in the Lexington, NE area where Marilyn focused her efforts on caring for the home and raising her children.

Marilyn was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington and a 70 year member, where she was active in many church organizations.&nbsp; She was also a member of the Grant Extension Club, Hospital Auxiliary, and past member of the Nebraska Cattlewomen.

Marilyn and Jim enjoyed traveling together, and she thoroughly loved following her grandchildren's activities and sporting events, and in her later years, when the great-grandchildren came along, they were the highlight of her life.&nbsp;&nbsp;

She also enjoyed quilting, square dancing, and traveling to different wineries in Nebraska and Missouri with friends.&nbsp; Marilyn decided to take charge of her health and began the Weight Watchers program where she lost over 100 pounds.&nbsp; This was a great accomplishment in her life.&nbsp; Above all, Marilyn has left a tremendous legacy of love and faith to her family.

Survivors include her husband, Jim, of Lexington, NE; her daughter, Janice (Lynn) Lans of Lexington, NE; eight grandchildren: justin (Da'Lacy) Lans, Jillian (Justin) Dowdy, Jacey (Austen) Klemm, Brandy (Cody) Popken, Amanda Christensen, Aleah Biehl, Isaac Biehl, and Rachel (Connor) Lemke; great-grandchildren: Jordan, Jacob, Joslynn, James &amp; Jorgianna Lans, Jackson &amp; Jamie Dowdy, Bodee &amp; Shaya Klemm, Kamryn Pike, Kinley Popken, and Giana &amp; Malik Christensen; her brother, Leroy (Lettie) Brown of Roseburg, Oregon; and sister-in-law, Patricia (Donald) McAnallen of Lakeview, Oregon; brother-in-law, Buss (Carolyn) Biehl of Kearney, Nebraska; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Besides her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her son, Roger Biehl; grandson, Jason Lans; brother, Richard Brown; sisters-in-law Casey Biehl and Bernice (Phil) Pebley; and in-laws, Wesley &amp; Else Biehl.

A Memorial Service will be on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Reverend Chuck Olsen officiating.

A visitation will be held on Monday, September 4, 2023 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, NE.

A Private Family Interment will be held prior to the Service.

Marilyn May Biehl  (1935-2023)

Gerald "Jerry" Witte, age 99, of Cambridge, Nebraska passed away at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on August 30, 2023.&nbsp; He was born in Lawrence, Nebraska on November 9, 1923 to Clement and Elisabeth (Ostdiek).&nbsp; The family moved to Cambridge, Nebraska when Jerry was seven years old.

Jerry was united in marriage to Jean Ohlson on August 31, 1949.&nbsp; She preceded him in death on August 8, 2021.&nbsp; Jerry was a life member of the St. John the Baptist Church, a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Pro-Life Representative, and Marriage Encounter.&nbsp; He served his community over his life span on schoolboard, Cambridge Co-Op Board, NE Cattleman's Association, and ECO Fallow Board.&nbsp; As a teenager, Jerry's family would to to Indianola, Nebraska and get prisoners of war to help on the farm.&nbsp; Jerry and Jean loved to travel, taking many Jerry Petersen bus trips, along with trips all over the United States.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean; daughter, Janet Davis; grandchildren, Bryan Miller, Shelly Ann Witte, Abby Witte, and Ryan Witte; siblings and their spouses, Elvin (Charlotte) Witte, Gilbert (Ruth) Witte, Herb (Lucille) Witte, Wilber (Viola), Arthur (Agnes) Witte, Edwin Witte, Irene (Francis) Kubik, Vera (Bob) Laughlin, and Pat (Gene) Young.

Jerry is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Duane) Phillips, Brenda (Mark) Miller, and Sharon (Kelly) Evans, all of Cambridge, NE; three sons, Steven (Connie) Witte of Cambridge, NE, Roger (Nan) Witte of Cambridge, NE, and Mark (Deb) of Castle Rock, CO; son-in-law Larry Davis; 21 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A Rosary will be recited on Monday, September 4, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge, NE.&nbsp; Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Ken Wehrs celebrating.&nbsp; Interment will be in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Cambridge.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Karen Ann (Pincheon) Sizer, age 80, of Arthur, Nebraska died Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Sutherland Care Center in Sutherland, Nebraska.

Karen was born December 9, 1942, at Ft. Edward, N.Y. to Frank A. and Doris L. (Ingram) Pincheon. She spent her childhood in Hudson Falls, N.Y. In 1955 the family moved to Ogallala, Nebraska where Karen started junior high. She graduated from Ogallala High School in 1961 and then attended Kearney State College for one year where she met her future husband.

Karen married David Sizer on August 22, 1964, in Ogallala, Nebraska. They resided in Kearney, Nebraska for a year. The couple moved to Hershey, Nebraska in 1965, then to St. Paul, Nebraska in 1966 where their first two children were born. In 1969 they moved to Tyndall, S.D. where their youngest son was born. Karen and David moved to Arthur, Nebraska in 1972.

Karen loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She loved cooking and enjoyed hosting family get-togethers and Sunday and holiday dinners. She was an excellent baker and known for her pies. She also decorated many cakes for family special occasions. Karen also enjoyed sewing, and making clothes and costumes for her family and friends. She sewed doll clothes, comforters, and other items to give as gifts. Karen enjoyed crafts, knitting, gardening, canning, bookkeeping and reading.

Karen worked for the Arthur County Co-op Association, and later, the Bank of Keystone, for many years. She owned and operated a ceramic shop in Arthur for a few years. She also served as clerk for the Village of Arthur. In 1988 she started working for The Arthur Enterprise, eventually becoming the owner and publisher.

Karen was an active member of the Arthur Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school, served as Sunday school superintendent, helped with Awana and youth group, sang in the choir for cantatas and specials, and helped wherever she could. Karen was a member and officer of the Arthur Project Club, helped with 4-H, was a Cub Scout leader, served on the Arthur County School Reunion committee, helped with the Arthur County Diamond Jubilee history book, and was a member of the Pack Backers Booster Club, receiving the Pack Backer of the Year award twice.
