Carla Adare Winters of McCook, NE passed away at her home in McCook on July 18, 2023, at the age of 75.

Carla was born in McCook on February 19, 1948, to parents Adair and Maxine (Davidson) Myers. She graduated from McCook High School on May 24, 1966. Two weeks after her graduation, Carla was united in marriage to Richard Winters in Indianola, NE on June 11, 1966. Together, Carla and Richard raised their sons, Shawn and Stacy, in McCook, NE.

Carla was a homemaker throughout her life and had a deep love for all animals including the many dogs she and Richard had throughout the years. In recent years, she enjoyed watching and providing nicknames to her neighbor’s llamas and ponies.

She is preceded by parents, husband, and sister, Cathy Heskett.

Those left to celebrate Carla’s life include sons, Shawn Winters and wife, Trina, of McCook and Stacy Winters and wife, Heidi, of Omaha; brother-in-law, Mark Heskett of McCook, NE; 3 grandchildren, Lakken Winters, Skyler Winters, and Matthew Winters; great-grandchildren, Kiefer Leedom, Myles Leedom, and Stella Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Maureen Olofson, 95, of Ogallala, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023, at the Perkins County Hospital in Grant.

Maureen was born May 27, 1928, at Bishop's Stortford, England, to Ernest Alfred and Dorothy Redall (Watson) Pavitt. She received her education in England, where she attended a private school owned by the Bishop of London. Maureen was a survivor of the WWII bombings of London in the early 1940s.

Maureen would meet and marry Darrell Olofson, whose military service during WWII had brought him to London. In 1952, Maureen moved from Hertfordshire, and the couple made their home on a ranch south of Arnold, Nebraska.

Moving from Central-North London to a house in the Nebraska Sandhills with no running water was a formidable adjustment for Maureen, but she came to appreciate the unique beauty of her life. Maureen and Darrell were blessed with four children. Most recently, Maureen had been making her home in Ogallala to be closer to family.

Maureen was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Darrell.

Survivors include her daughter, Julie (Ted) Young of North Platte; sons, Steve (Iris) Olofson of Ogallala, Michael (Natividad) Olofson, Brent (Kim) Olofson of Colorado Springs, CO; sister, Val Atkins; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; beloved dog Bo, along with many other relatives and friends.

Ed Halliwell (1938-2023)

Laura F. “Freddie” Tickle, 80, of Cozad, Nebraska, passed away on July 19, 2023 at Cozad Community Hospital.&nbsp;

Freddie was born on October 31, 1942, to Fred and Hazel (Fye) Knotwell in Grant, Nebraska. Freddie attended Grant schools, graduating in 1960. She furthered her education at Kearney State College before marrying her high school sweetheart, Jerry Tickle, in 1961. Their union was blessed with two sons: Troy and Trevor.

Freddie worked tirelessly alongside Jerry, providing funeral service to families in need over the many years. She was a gentle and caring presence, an unshakable wife and supporter to Jerry, and a truly caring friend.

Freddie was involved with Boy Scouts as a Den Mother, a Sunday School teacher, and a homeroom mother. She was a faithful member of the Methodist church. Freddie loved playing golf, skiing in Colorado, and playing bridge. She especially enjoyed her annual golf trips for three days with her two sisters and two nieces, calling themselves the Knotwell Special.&nbsp;

Freddie Tickle was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family and the community. Her kindness, warmth, and love for others will always be remembered. &nbsp;

Freddie lived her life with great love and compassion for those around her. She experienced the whole bevy of what life can bring, from great joys to the sorrow of losing her loved ones. Her life begins anew with the great hope that what she once lost has been found. Freddie's faith has become sight. Rest in peace, Freddie.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and two loving sons. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Roesetha (Clinton) Mutchie, Turzah (Jesse) Michael, brother-in-law Hoyt Hendricks, and three brothers-in-law, Wayne Tickle, Lonnie Tickle, and Mel Tickle.

Laura F. "Freddie" Tickle (1942-2023)

Jamie L. Apolius, 31, of Ogallala, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Ogallala on July 18, 2023.

Jamie was born on February 3, 1992, in Grant, Nebraska, to Donald and Shiela (Dunn) Apolius. He completed his education at Ogallala High School, graduating with the class of 2011.

At the age of 14, Jamie participated in a school-work program that led him to join the team at Bomgaars. From then on, he became an integral part of the Bomgaars family, bringing joy and laughter to all those he encountered, whether fellow employees or customers. With his mischievous smirk and playful nature, Jamie had a remarkable ability to brighten any environment he entered.

Jamie had a deep passion for farming and cattle. He found solace and happiness in spending time outdoors and being surrounded by his family. His infectious energy and kind-heartedness made him a joy to be around, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Jamie was preceded in death by his father, Don Apolius, and several grandparents.

Survivors include his mother, Shiela Apolius of Ogallala; his brother, Josh (Megan) Apolius of Grant, and their children, Everett and Raylan; grandmother, Rita Apolius of Ogallala; along with many other relatives and friends who will greatly miss his presence.

Ronald Max Koester, 71, of North Platte, NE passed away on Monday, July 17, 2023 at Bryan Medical Center East in Lincoln, NE.

Ron was born on October 5, 1951 in North Platte, NE and raised on the family farm near Wellfleet, NE. &nbsp;He was the son of Floyd and H. Maxine (VonGoetz) Koester.

Ron attended North Platte High School until his senior year when he transferred to Maywood High School, graduating in 1969. &nbsp;It was during his high school years that he met his future wife, Sherie Fairchild. &nbsp;They were married in 1971 and together they had two daughters: Jennifer and Rebecca. &nbsp;Ron attended and graduated from the diesel mechanic program at Mid-Plains Community College and worked at various local car dealerships. &nbsp;He then was hired on at the Union Pacific Railroad as a mechanical foreman and travelled for several years before being stationed in the mechanical shop at North Platte. &nbsp;Ron loved helping his dad and always felt most at peace on the family farm and ranch near Wellfleet that had been in his family for generations. &nbsp;He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. &nbsp;

Those left to cherish Ron’s memory are his daughters, Jennifer Gilliland of Trenton, TN, and Rebecca Koester of Bells, TN; grandchildren, Daniel, O’Brian, and Justin Gilliland, Dalton Milam, and Gracelyn Watkins; sisters, Vicki (Rodney) Winder of North Platte, and Linda Smith of Lincoln; former spouse, Sherie Koester of Jackson, TN; children and grandchildren of Ron’s late companion Linda, Rob (Kristin) Flood, Jim (Jen) Flood and Cathy Kohler; their children, Dillon Whittier, Jacob, Kyle and Ryan Kohler and Taryn, Jaycee and Tenley Flood; as well as many nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Maxine, companion, Linda Flood, and brother-in-law, Harold Smith.&nbsp;

Gary Cooper, 70, passed away on July 20, 2023 at UNMC Omaha. He was born to George and Fem (Newill) Cooper on June 12, 1953 in Blair, Nebraska. As a child, he lived in a few small towns in eastern Nebraska before moving to California at age 9/ During his senior year of high school, his family moved back to Fremont. After graduating from Fremont High School in 1971, Gary looked up his kindergarten girl friend Kay Scott. They were married on March 24, 1973 in Gretna. They lived in Fremont for 40 years until retiring in 2013. He worked 39 years for the Fremont Department of Utilities. After retirement, they moved to Halsey, Nebraska to watch their grandchildren grow. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, building and flying radio controlled models, driving and working on their 1968 Dodge Charger R/T and watching their grandchildren play sports. He is survived by his wife Kay (Scott), daughter Julie (Tedd) Teahon of Dunning, grandchildren Charlsie and Thatcher. Sister Connie (Terry) House of Fremont, brothers Kevin (Cheryl) of Churdun, Iowa, Douglas of Fremont and Ronald of Fremont. Several nieces, nephews and many cousins. Gary Cooper (1953-2023)

&nbsp; &nbsp;James C. Morris, age 56, of Bartley, NE passed away at his home on July 17, 2023.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was born in Zanesville, Ohio on December 25, 1966, to James E. and Suzanne (Friend) Morris.&nbsp;&nbsp;The family moved to Cambridge where Jim attended school before dropping out to move to Texas, then back to the area.&nbsp;&nbsp;On October 1, 1985, he was married to Tina Hannah.&nbsp;&nbsp;To this union three children were born: Kristy, Christopher, and Dustin.&nbsp;&nbsp;Jim later married Tracy Hayes on June 4, 2021, adding two sons: Luke and Lance.

&nbsp; &nbsp;Jim worked in the oilfield as a consultant, drove a truck over the road and stayed local. &nbsp;You could always hear people on the radio say "hey, Bluedog", and Jim would say "be careful, be safe."&nbsp;&nbsp;He did farm work for Martin Fritz for 12 years. &nbsp;Jim attended McCook Christian Church in McCook and was a member of the Bartley Masonic Lodge. &nbsp;Jim was the Fire Chief for the Bartley Fire Department for 20+ years.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was on the Bartley Village Board and served several terms as Mayor.&nbsp;&nbsp;Jim liked to work on cars, weld, shoot off fireworks, play rock music or whatever his mood was at the time, but most of all enjoyed&nbsp;family life with his kids and grandkids hanging out. He was not a stranger to anyone and could tell you lots of stories.&nbsp;&nbsp;Jim loved his dogs and treated them like his children: Bluedog (Ozzy which his trucking company is named after), Jack, Bane, and Zeus.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; He was preceded in death by his best friend Ozzy, his dad, and an infant sister, Heather.&nbsp;

James C. Morris (1966-2023)

David Michael James, 54, of North Platte, passed away on July 20, 2023, at Great&nbsp;Plains Health of heart failure. He was born to David G. and Michelle (McClaren)&nbsp; James on July 20, 1969, in Cheyenne Wyoming, the day the first man walked on&nbsp; the moon.

David grew up in North Platte, NE, attending schools and graduating from North Platte High School with the class of ‘88. &nbsp;Upon graduating, he attended Mid Plains Community College and later University of Nebraska, studying fine arts and advertising.

David was an incredible artist and avid reader. During his life he worked as a cook, a painter and delivery driver. Medical issues caused his early retirement. He loved music and later in life taught himself to play harmonica. David’s most fond memories are holidays at his Grandma James’ and vacations to Taylor Park, Colorado with his immediate and extended family.

Survivors include his mother, Michelle James; sister and family, Julianne, Rick, Mariah and Dane Kaiser; many cousins, and other family.

Those that preceded him in death include his dad, David G. James.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Donald Roy High, age 84, of Indianola, NE passed away at the Community Hospital in McCook, NE on July 19, 2023. He was born in McCook, on August 13, 1938 to Roy and Edith (Parsons) High. &nbsp; He attended school in Indianola, graduating from Indianola High School in 1957. &nbsp;He attended Milford Community College for one year.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; On August 25, 1959, he was united in marriage to Caron Houghtelling at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Indianola. &nbsp;Don worked for several years in construction in southwest Nebraska. &nbsp;Don was later employed by the Bureau of Reclamation as an inspector. &nbsp;The family moved from Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Arizona, Colorado, and California before retiring and returning to Indianola. After he retired from the Bureau, Don worked for Miller and Associates for 15 years. &nbsp;&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; Don enjoyed morning coffee at Ag Valley and the Rocket Inn with the gang. &nbsp;He coached Pop Warner football and baseball, winning several championships. He served as a Boy Scout leader. &nbsp;He enjoyed golf, fishing, and hunting pheasant, quail, ducks, and small animals. Don was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, and Knights of Columbus. He liked sports. Especially Nebraska football, the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL, and the Kansas City Royals in the American League. Don had an infectious laugh.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy, and Edith; stepfather, Alvy Wing.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; Don is survived by his wife, Caron of 63 years; three sons, Montie and wife, Elizabeth High of Grand Junction, Co, Kyle and wife, Dianna High of Farmington, NM, Anthony and (Corina Fritz) of McCook; three grandchildren, Danan High, Kalam High, and Aubrey High; sister, Gwen Sughroue-Davis of Kearney&nbsp;

Donald "Don" Roy High (1938-2023)

John H. Ostrom, 85, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on March 6, 1938, in Gothenburg, Nebraska to Harry H. Ostrom and Hazel S. Pettijohn. He grew up and attended school in Gothenburg, graduating from Gothenburg High School with the class of 1955. On January 22, 1956, John was united in marriage to Annette Mann at the First Baptist Church in Gothenburg. Three children were blessed to this union: Anne, Lars, and Leif.&nbsp;

Before moving to Lexington, John served his country in the Nebraska National Guard. John and Annette moved to Lexington in 1961 where John worked for seven years as a deputy for the Dawson County Sheriff’s Department. In 1968, they opened Bargain John’s Antique Store. John loved traveling and was constantly searching for quality antiques and a great deal. He was a member of the Lexington Antique Association and the Nebraska Antique Association.

Survivors include his children, Anne (John Rains) Eilers of Scottsdale, Arizona, Lars (Joni) Ostrom, and Leif Ostrom, both of Lexington, Nebraska; grandchildren, Carson (Amber) Eilers, Chase (Danielle) Eilers, Tim Rains, Zach Rains, Tora (Kyle) Curry, Andrew (Kathleen) Ostrom, Brittany (Tyler) Hueftle, Rachel (Colton) May, Hannah (Evan) Jenkins, Brianna (Samuel) Ouedraogo and Jacquelin (Caleb) Holbrook; great-grandchildren, Alice, Olivia, Olive, and Eve Eilers, Jaxon and Ava Curry, Theodore and Luca Ostrom, Kaden, Carter and Emma Hueftle, Gentry May, and Hadley Jenkins; his special friend, Sandy Widholm of Gothenburg; brother, Grant (Anita) Ostrom of Springfield, Tennessee; sister, Cherry (LaVern) Kuhlman of Colorado Springs, Colorado, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Annette Ostrom and his son-in-law, Brian Eilers.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Parkview Baptist Church in Lexington with Pastor Keith Strasburger, officiating.

Burial will be held prior to the Memorial Service at 9:30 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023, with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. The casket will not be present at the church after the visitation.

Kendra Sue Fletcher, 64, of North Platte, passed away July 19, 2023 at Kearney Regional Hospital. &nbsp;She was born on November 18, 1958 to Raymond and Judith (Blomenkamp) Peterson in North Platte. &nbsp;

Kendra graduated from Sutherland High School with the class of 1977. &nbsp;She was involved in volleyball, basketball, and track. &nbsp;Kendra then attended Kearney State College. &nbsp;She moved to North Platte and worked at Duling Optical, then went to work for UPS and then the Opportunity Center. &nbsp;

Kendra married Regis Fletcher in 1992 in North Platte and worked at Home Health and in hospital management. &nbsp;She was a member of First Lutheran Church. &nbsp;Family was the center of her life and she was very active with her Sutherland classmates.

Survivors include husband, Regis of North Platte; step-children, Regina (Jonathan) Frank of Murdock, NE, Allen (Shelia Neilsen) Fletcher of Eden Prairie, MN, Benjamin (Ashley) Aloi; grandchildren, Elijah Frank, Sophia Frank, Cody Fletcher, Katelyn Neilsen; great grandchildren, Riley Aloi, Kaitlyn Aloi, Jace Aloi; siblings, Jolene (Dave) Morgan of Sutherland, Raymond Scott Peterson of North Platte; aunt, June Crofutt of Keystone; nieces and nephews, Jeremy (Alisha) Morgan, Crystal (C.J.) Kendra Sue Fletcher (1958-2023)

On July 14, 2023, Montie Glen Gosnell, passed away at the age of 32, at Great Plains Health in North Platte. &nbsp;He was welcomed into the world on September 10, 1990, by George and Jody (Kohl) Gosnell in North Platte.

He grew up in North Platte and received his GED in Kearney at the age of 16. &nbsp;He worked primarily outdoors, laying asphalt, repairing driveways, and trimming trees. &nbsp;Montie was a free spirit, making his own path in the world. &nbsp;He was sometimes stubborn but those that knew the core of Montie, knew he had a sweet and gentle soul. &nbsp;He was a social guy, always outgoing, and always willing to help someone.

Those left to cherish Montie’s memory include his mother, Jody (Lyle Dow) Gosnell, of Beaver City; brother, Tony (Lily) Gosnell, of Hooper, NE; nieces and nephews, Aidon, Zander, Ava, and Zoe Gosnell; aunt, Cora (Jim) Fox, of North Platte; uncles, Glen Jr. Gosnell, of North Platte, and Terry (Rhonda) Booth, of Holdrege; great aunts, Lorie (Tim) Wilson, of Hershey, Bonnie Prieuater, of Lincoln, and Linda (Dave) O’Neil, of North Platte; other family and friends.

Montie Gosnell (1990-2023)

&nbsp; &nbsp; Tracy Kay Hackney was born on September 8, 1968 in Sterling, Colorado to Stanley and Patricia (Gehrig) Null. &nbsp;She attended grade school in Lamar, Nebraska and went on to graduate with the class of 1987 in Imperial, Nebraska. &nbsp;On August 1, 1992 she was united in marriage to Barry Hackney in Champion, Nebraska. &nbsp;To this union three children were born: Kaylee, Ashley, and Caige. &nbsp;Tracy was a bookkeeper for the family business, Baxter Concrete of Wauneta and also for the Wauneta Roller Mill. &nbsp;Tracy moved to Culbertson and was engaged to be married to David Bird. &nbsp;They loved their time in the country just north of town and Tracy welcomed David’s daughters, Racquel and Madelyn into her life and her into heart.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Tracy loved listening to 80’s music and watching movies. &nbsp;She was always ready to get dressed up for a night out and she truly enjoyed traveling to new places, especially if it gave her an opportunity to do a little shopping. &nbsp;She took pride in keeping a beautiful home; Tracy made many of her own decorations, she was a talented artist. &nbsp;She also loved to landscape and tend to her flowers. Her children and grandchildren were her whole world! &nbsp;She was truly happiest when surrounded by her family and countless friends. &nbsp;For the last few years, Tracy has enjoyed living in the country, it gave her the perfect place to care for and spoil her beloved animals. &nbsp;Her beautiful smile and spirit will be missed by everyone that knew her.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Tracy passed away Wednesday evening, July 12, 2023 at Community Hospital in McCook, Nebraska. She was 54 years of age.

Tracy K Hackney (1968-2023)

&nbsp; &nbsp; David R. Haller was born on March 11, 1953 in McCook, Nebraska to Charles “Rod” and Luanne (Beneda) Haller. &nbsp;He attended school in McCook and graduated with the McCook High School Class of 1971. &nbsp;David joined the United States Army in 1974 and served honorably until his discharge on February 2, 1977. &nbsp;He rose to the rank of specialist and received the National Defense Service Medal.

&nbsp; &nbsp; On May 11, 1979, Dave was united in marriage to the love of his life, Connie Linnemeyer at the First Congregational Church in McCook. &nbsp;Dave and Connie made McCook their lifelong home where they raised two daughters, Tomika and Kaitlin. &nbsp;Dave worked for the Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad. &nbsp;Over his career, he worked his way up from lineman to conductor. &nbsp;He retired in 2000.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Dave loved all things Ford; the only exception being his Corvette! &nbsp;He loved his lawn and time spent working in his shop. &nbsp;Above and beyond all things though, he found his true joy in family fun on the Fourth of July and at Christmas.

&nbsp; &nbsp; David passed away at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska early Saturday morning, July 15, 2023, surrounded by his family. &nbsp;He was 70 years of age.

&nbsp; &nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents, Rod and Luanne; his in-laws, Richard and Jean Linnemeyer; his sister, Nancy Towne; and his brother-in-law, Cloyd Clark.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Survivors include his wife, Connie Haller of McCook; daughters, Tomika Haller and Kaitlin Haller of Omaha, Nebraska; sisters, Linda Clark of McCook and Marcia (Jim) Glenn of Crete, Nebraska; brother, Mark Haller of Hammond, Louisiana; as well as their families and a host of extended family and friends. &nbsp;

Jerry was born to George and Audra Toman on July 14, 1937, in Omaha, where he grew up.&nbsp; After graduating from South High School in 1955, Jerry attended college in Colorado.&nbsp; He went to school in Ft. Collins then Colorado School of Banking in Boulder before moving to North Platte to work for Martin Realty. Jerry was married to Sylvia and to this union Bernie and Cindy were born.&nbsp; On November 20, 1969, he married Phyllis Robb.&nbsp; Phyllis had two children, Kenneth and Marlene, then she and Jerry welcomed their daughter, Michelle.&nbsp; The family lived in North Platte before moving to Hershey, Wallace and McCook where Jerry worked for the Niedan family in banking and insurance. He later moved to Fort Morgan, CO, and opened Ft. Morgan State Bank then worked for Century Homes.&nbsp; By 1987 Jerry returned to Nebraska and worked for the Bank of Indianola, which was bought by Adams Bank and Trust.&nbsp; He eventually retired from Adams Bank and Trust. Over the years, Jerry served on the board of the Nebraska Bankers Association and was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Rotary, and World Sporting Clay Association.&nbsp; He enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting sports.&nbsp; Jerry and Phyllis also liked traveling in their motor home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; his children, Bernie Toman and Cindy Al-Bwardi; and his parents, George and Audra Toman. Survivors include his children, Michelle (Randy) Roethemeyer of North Platte, Marlene Crosier of Mitchell, and Kenneth (Suihua) Binegar of North Platte; Bernie's widow, Kim; his grandchildren, Iman, Faisal, Dema, Dalal, Christopher, Angela, Mandy and Valerie; and great-grandchildren, Razan and Decker. Gerald "Jerry" Toman (1937-2023)

Butch Henry Henderson, 72, of Sutherland, Nebraska, passed away July 15, 2023 at the Ogallala Community Hospital, Ogallala, Nebraska. He was born September 30, 1950 in Whitesboro, Texas to Henry Lee and Mable (Patton) Henderson.

Butch attended school in Panhandle, Texas. He left school early to help care for his mother, who had cancer. Butch was involved in trucking most of his life. Earning the handle “Purple Foot”. He resided with Carolyn Crow in 1990 and they lived in Oklahoma. They were united in marriage and to this union two children were born: Elaine and Henry. They joined Carolyn’s two children Chris and Zenobia. In 2006 Butch, Elaine and Henry moved to Nebraska where Butch was owner and operator for Crete Carriers. In January 2017 he received the “Driver of the Month” award, driving 5 million safe accident- free miles. He enjoyed racing, bowling, card games and cribbage, spending time with this family, going to the lake, embraced technology, especially taking selfies.

Butch is survived by his children, Elaine (George) Tridle, Paxton, Nebraska, Henry (Dakota) Henderson, Sutherland, Nebraska, Chris Crow, Paxton, Nebraska, Zenobia Dean, Paxton, Nebraska; grandchildren, Pyper Tridle, Parker Tridle, Peityn Tridle, Dillon Henderson, Brooklynn Henderson, Jordan Crow, Desirae Crow, Aidan Crow, Ziyanne Tyrell, Cashous Tyrell, Angel Dean; six great-grandchildren; sister, Carlene Tolbert, Wellington, Texas; special nephew, Dicky Tolbert, Burnett, Texas; along with several nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

&nbsp; Russell Dale Buczek was born December 20, 1955, in Ogallala, Nebraska, to Della Marie (Priest) and Frank Joseph Buczek. Robert Wayne McMurry was born January 11, 1950, in Mobridge, South Dakota to Robert Lee and Ruby (Gage) McMurry. Wayne lived around the Isabelle, SD area and went to Dupree, SD grade school, later moving to Arnold, NE. In 1968 Wayne was united in marriage to Anita Reinert in Timberlake, SD. Wayne was blessed with a stepson, Jerome. Then to this union daughters Diane and Donna were born. The couple made their home in Nebraska, moving back to South Dakota in 1970, then back to Nebraska in 1975. The couple later divorced. Wayne made his home in Arnold, NE.

Later, Wayne married Anita Kelly, the couple lived in various locations, later divorced. Wayne then moved to North Platte working for Craig and Diana Phelps of North Platte. Wayne was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Robert Lee and Ruby, son Michael McMurry, daughter Diane Evans, and stepson Jerome Reinert.

Wayne is survived by daughter Donna Benell of Brady, a brother Lester McMurry of Arnold, three grandchildren Brett (Molly) Benell, Jesse Benell, and Lacie Benell, two great grandchildren Ashten and Willow, ex-wife Anita McMurry of Gothenburg, and many special friends.

Annette Kay Hopkins of Cozad passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Meadowlark Pointe Assisted Living at the age of 61. Annette was born January 5, 1962 at Fort Lupton, Colorado to Lynwood and Shirley (Eckheart) Miller. She graduated from Fort Lupton High School. On August 20, 1987, Annette married Donald Hopkins. The couple moved to Cozad in 1997 and she worked at Monroe Auto for 13 years. Annette enjoyed camping and was a person that loved animals and nature. She was skilled at cooking and baking, always taking food to share with co-workers. &nbsp;&nbsp; Jimmie “Jim” Eugene Bopp, age 76, of Culbertson, passed away peacefully in his home on July 12, 2023.

&nbsp; &nbsp; He was born in Imperial, Nebraska on October 10, 1946 to Phillip and Theda (Johnson) Bopp. He attended and graduated from Imperial High School in 1964.

&nbsp; &nbsp; After competing high school, Jim enlisted in the United States Navy and served for three years as a deep sea recovery diver. He was honorably discharged in 1967.

&nbsp; &nbsp; On September 7, 1969 Jim was united in marriage to the love of his life, Cheri Lenz and the couple made their home in Culbertson. In 1980 they welcomed a son, Joshua Bopp.

&nbsp; &nbsp; After his discharge from the service Jim was an auto mechanic for many dealerships. He and Cheri owned “The Hitching Post” bar in Culbertson before he began working for Parker Hannifin in 1986. After 27 years in the maintenance department Jim retired from Parker in 2013.

&nbsp; &nbsp; If it had an engine (preferably a Ford), Jim was your guy. He had an extreme passion for cars; rebuilding, restoring, and racing. He could often be found out in his shop tinkering on anything that had a motor and always seemed to know exactly how to fix it. Jim never stood still, except when the drag races were on TV. He enjoyed watching his grandkids race go karts on the weekends and was always present to lend a hand. In recent years, Jim had volunteered his time to help with the Culbertson food bank. He had a talent for creative repurposing. He turned propane tanks into cute and recognizable painted pig lawn ornaments that have been sold all over the United States.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Jim will be remembered as a man of little words but a big heart.

&nbsp; &nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents Phillip and Theda Bopp (Johnson).

&nbsp; &nbsp; Jim is survived by his wife, Cheri of 54 years of Culbertson; his son, Joshua Bopp of McCook; two grandchildren, Paige Bopp and Landon Bopp of McCook; brother, Mike and wife, Nancy Bopp of &nbsp;Ogallala, Neb; brother, Pete Bopp of Murrieta, CA; sister, Patty Harding of New Hampshire; and many nieces and nephews.

Elloise McVicker, 91, of Lisco, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 11, 2023 in Bridgeport, Nebraska.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2023 at the Lisco Presbyterian Church with Pastor Darren Emerick officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in the Lisco Memorial Cemetery.

Elloise Ewing McVicker was born on April 18, 1932, the youngest of three, to Lionel and Ruth (Testerman) Ewing in Great Bend, Kansas. Elloise attended school in Wiley, Colorado from fifth grade to twelfth grade, where she graduated as Valedictorian.

She was united in marriage to John E. McVicker on December 31, 1950, in Wiley. Elloise built her career in banking and insurance. She worked for the State Bank of Wiley for several years while raising their family and farming. After their 25th Anniversary, she and John bought a farm near Lisco, Nebraska, and she continued with banking and insurance at Lisco State Bank.

Elloise enjoyed sewing, decorating, interior design, and hosting bridge and family gatherings. After their retirement in 1995, she and John wintered in Zapata, Texas, for seventeen years where they enjoyed golfing, dancing, playing card games, and spending time with family.

Elloise was an active member of the Lisco Presbyterian Church where she served as clerk and deacon. Elloise filled much of her time keeping up with birthdays, sending cards to each of her 15 great grandchildren, 7 grandchildren, 3 children and their anniversaries. She never missed a birthday, and her calendar was always full. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s events and activities and cheering them on from the stands.

David Anthony Krems, 39, of Waterloo, NE, passed away on July 8, 2023, in Council Bluffs, IA, as a result of an auto accident.

David was born on June 11, 1984, in Grant, Nebraska, to Robert M and Beth (Keever) Krems. After graduating from high school in his hometown of Grant, NE, David moved to Omaha to attend college at UNO. He then fulfilled his dream of living closer to the mountains by moving to Fort Collins, CO, for a short time. He later returned to Omaha to welcome his son Cooper into the world. In Nov 2017, David married Rebekah M. Muth, and the couple made their home in Omaha before buying their forever home in Waterloo, NE.

Throughout his life, David excelled in various sales positions. From cars to cell phones, investments to nursing, he worked hard and was highly skilled in every role he undertook.

David was a strong, Godly man who led his family with overflowing love. He spent his life showing others the joy and love he believed Jesus had gifted him. While he loved Sunday morning gatherings, his true form of worship was his daily walk with the Lord.

David cherished watching Cooper play baseball, hitting golf balls on beautiful days, traveling to tropical destinations, and making new friends wherever he went. He also relished the times he spent on family trips and making memories with his nieces and nephews. However, his natural habitat was hanging out with his family and friends in the backyard, under the stars, next to a bonfire.

David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Melvin and Margaret Krems and Ira and Viola Keever.
