OGALLALA, Neb - The Ogallala City Council met Monday night for a wide-ranging agenda that included fireworks regulations, street improvement plans, nuisance abatement updates, and progress on a historic housing redevelopment project.

The meeting’s most anticipated item was the council's decision to lift the city’s temporary fireworks ban, following improved moisture levels in the area. City Manager Kevin Wilkins said the unanimous vote was made in coordination with the fire chief and other Keith County fire officials.

“With the rain we’ve had and what’s in the forecast, we feel confident in allowing the sale and discharge of fireworks this year,” Wilkins said during a radio interview Tuesday.

Fireworks sales and use will be permitted from June 30 through midnight on July 4. Wilkins emphasized public safety, urging residents to avoid lighting fireworks in grassy areas and to refrain from launching fireworks into the city pool—a recurring issue that has damaged equipment in previous years.

In place of the traditional aerial display, Ogallala will host a drone show on Saturday, July 5 at 10 p.m., accompanied by a synchronized soundtrack airing on local radio station Flat Rock 100.7.

Beyond fireworks, the council also discussed the city’s continued collaboration with PeopleService Inc. on water and wastewater management. While no major issues were reported, Wilkins said the city is still waiting on state funds to move forward with significant upgrades to its water treatment facility.

“It would be far more efficient for the state to release the money now so we can fix it properly, instead of putting expensive band-aids on,” Wilkins said.

Mary Wilson with the Keith County Area Development also addressed the council, highlighting regional land banking efforts and small business outreach. Ogallala economic developer Molly Jeffries made nearly 600 business contacts during the last reporting period as part of the city’s retention and expansion strategy.

On the zoning front, the council approved a historic district overlay for three former school properties, including the old high school and middle school. This designation will allow developers to pursue tax incentives and grants as part of a planned redevelopment project that includes 44 units of mixed-income housing. The project is expected to be complete by early 2027.

Additionally, 17 properties were declared nuisances as part of the city’s annual abatement program. These ranged from minor yard cleanups to more serious violations, such as unlicensed vehicles. A total of 135 properties were reviewed.

Council members also approved an engineering agreement for a major street reconstruction project downtown, with estimated costs nearing $600,000. Another proposal under review includes a new EMS ambulance barn to be located on the Ogallala Community Hospital grounds. Preliminary estimates suggest a price tag of around $1.5 million.

The council wrapped the meeting with board updates and Wilkins’ report, which again emphasized responsible fireworks usage during the upcoming holiday week.

“Be courteous, be safe, and shut it down early enough at night,” Wilkins said. “That’ll go a long way in reducing complaints.”

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — Deborah’s Legacy will host its annual Landscape and Garden Tour this Friday and Saturday, June 27–28, offering residents a chance to explore four of North Platte’s most picturesque gardens while supporting a Christ-centered recovery program for women.

The self-guided tour runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. They can be purchased in advance at Deborah’s Legacy, located across from Huebner's Nursery Lawn &amp; Garden, or at Bible Supplies. Limited tickets may also be available the mornings of the event at the downtown pop-up shop in Blackledge Park.

Sam Elliott, one of the event organizers, said during a recent radio interview that the tour not only showcases the creativity and hard work of local gardeners but also brings the community together in a meaningful way.

“Our gardeners have been working very, very hard to create fabulous spaces,” Elliott said. “It’s a joyful event. People leave inspired — sometimes even with a new plant or two.”

This year’s tour also includes a stop at Blackledge Park, where the Deborah’s Legacy pop-up shop will feature items handmade by women in the program, including garden accessories, T-shirts, and coffee. Proceeds from the event benefit Deborah’s Legacy, a nonprofit supporting women recovering from addiction, homelessness, and crisis.

Attendees will also be entered into a prize drawing that includes gift certificates, a large handcrafted planter box, and a ticket to the Sip &amp; Savor event at Dahlia Valley Ranch in Arnold.

“This is just a great way to start your summer morning — grab your friends, take your time through each garden, and maybe go to lunch afterwards,” Elliott said. “Friends don’t let friends go to a garden tour alone.”

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (June 23, 2025) — Nebraska Congressman Adrian Smith said making key tax relief provisions permanent and curbing federal spending are top priorities as lawmakers debate what President Donald Trump has dubbed the “Big Beautiful Bill.”

Speaking to the North Platte Post over the weekend, Smith, who represents Nebraska’s 3rd Congressional District, said the sweeping economic package — formally known as the reconciliation bill — is critical for the country’s financial future.

“If we don't get our work done on this bill, that means a roughly $1,500 tax increase for your average household, and more than $5,000 for your average farming operation,” Smith said, citing figures from the American Farm Bureau.

The reconciliation process, Smith explained, allows Congress to pass budget-related legislation with a simple majority in the Senate — avoiding the usual 60-vote threshold.

“The fact of the matter is, we've gotten the bill through the House already, which I think is good. We need to get our work done,” Smith said. “Some of these tax policies are currently on the books. We want to make that permanent. We certainly don’t want taxes to go up.”

Smith pointed to the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act as a model of pro-growth policy that boosted wages and encouraged investment across agriculture, manufacturing, and other sectors.

“Sometimes you listen to folks in Washington and they demonize prosperity so much, you'd never realize that actually our tax code depends very heavily on prosperity,” he said. “Even with the tax cut, businesses paid more in taxes because they were making more money — and that’s a good thing.”

Smith, who was in North Platte for a series of local meetings and events, emphasized that he considers Nebraska’s agricultural economy to be on “the front lines” of the nation’s economic engine.

He also said trade policy remains a top issue, both for Nebraska producers and the Trump administration.

“Hopefully we’ll have some trade agreements come together very quickly,” Smith said. “And land the plane, so to speak, on trade policy so that we can really be poised well heading into next year.”

The Senate is expected to take up the reconciliation bill in the coming weeks.

Rep. Adrian Smith Talks Tax Policy, “Big Beautiful Bill” During North Platte Visit

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (June 18, 2025) — North Platte’s City Council held a brief but productive meeting Tuesday night, highlighted by community recognition and a handful of routine agenda items. Mayor Brandon Kelliher joined FM 98.1 and Z93.5 Country Wednesday morning to recap the meeting and discuss ongoing city initiatives.

Among the highlights of Tuesday’s meeting was the swearing-in of a new fire department lieutenant, Lt. Archuleta, and recognition of North Platte’s 42nd consecutive year as a Tree City USA. The annual Tree Board presentation emphasized the city’s commitment to tree maintenance and sustainability.

The Council also honored community mentor Steven Heinzle, who recently received the State of Nebraska’s Mentor of the Year award for his work with youth through Community Connections.

On the business side, the Council approved updates to the city’s snow removal program to better align with city ordinances. Council members also approved board appointments and reappointments to the Board of Adjustment — including Sonya Voycheske, Jarid Childers, and Tanner Pettera — and discussed the importance of their role in handling zoning variances.

Mayor Kelliher described the Board of Adjustment as a kind of “last resort” for zoning appeals. “Sometimes people have extenuating circumstances, and this board provides a fair, thoughtful process to determine if an exception is warranted,” he said.

The Council also approved annual grant applications for the North Platte Public Transit system and a small grant through the Nebraska State Historical Society, which could support city-led or third-party historic preservation efforts.

Looking ahead, Mayor Kelliher spoke about a potential temporary four-way stop at Philip and Buffalo Bill Avenue when school resumes, in response to local traffic concerns. “It’s something we’re considering as a test,” he said. “We’ll get public feedback and see if it makes sense long-term.”

The mayor also promoted Thursday morning’s Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast, a long-standing Nebraskaland Days tradition. This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Ron Titus, an educator, author, and North Platte native. The event begins with breakfast at 7am at Venue 304, with tickets available online at Nebraskalanddays.com or at the door.

In the closing portion of the interview, Mayor Kelliher emphasized the importance of transparency and public communication in city government. “It’s an important part of living in a democracy to be able to watch and pay attention to what your government’s doing,” Kelliher said. “We try to make it easy — through our website, live YouTube streams, social media, and community media like the North Platte Post and local radio.”

He encouraged residents to stay informed and to reach out with feedback. “When people are informed, they can contact their representatives, call them, email them, or even run into them at the store,” he said. “We love hearing from the public — it helps us make better decisions.”

One future challenge on the city’s radar: downtown parking. With more businesses thriving and second-story apartments filling up, parking demand is growing.

“It’s a great problem to have,” said Kelliher. “Ten years ago, you didn’t have trouble finding a place to park downtown — now, it's a regular concern, especially with events at places like Venue 304, the Fox Theatre, and local restaurants. We’ll have to look at long-term solutions, and we’ll need public input as we do that.”

Mayor Kelliher closed by encouraging residents to enjoy the many events happening during Nebraskaland Days. “It’s a great time to be in North Platte,” he said. “Get out and enjoy it.”

Council members also approved board appointments and reappointments to the Board of Adjustment — including Sonya Voycheske, Jarid Childers, and Tanner Pettera — and discussed the importance of their role in handling zoning variances.</p><p>Mayor Kelliher described the Board of Adjustment as a kind of “last resort” for zoning appeals. “Sometimes people have extenuating circumstances, and this board provides a fair, thoughtful process to determine if an exception is warranted,” he said.</p><p>The Council also approved annual grant applications for the North Platte Public Transit system and a small grant through the Nebraska State Historical Society, which could support city-led or third-party historic preservation efforts.</p><p>Looking ahead, Mayor Kelliher spoke about a potential temporary four-way stop at Philip and Buffalo Bill Avenue when school resumes, in response to local traffic concerns. “It’s something we’re considering as a test,” he said. “We’ll get public feedback and see if it makes sense long-term.”</p><p>The mayor also promoted Thursday morning’s Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast, a long-standing Nebraskaland Days tradition. NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (June 16, 2025) — As the 70th annual Miss Rodeo Nebraska pageant unfolds this week in North Platte, three young women from across the state are competing for the prestigious title ahead of the Buffalo Bill Rodeo's opening night Wednesday.

Contestants Brylee Thompson of Hershey, Jessica Lange of Crofton, and Maycie Johnson of Oakdale are showcasing their horsemanship, public speaking, fashion, and rodeo knowledge as they vie for the honor of becoming Miss Rodeo Nebraska 2026.

The competition began with horsemanship at the Wild West Arena and continued with impromptu interviews, a barbecue meet-and-greet, and formal speeches. Contestants will also be evaluated on their social media engagement, a modern element of the pageant that reflects the evolving role of rodeo queens as public ambassadors.

Thompson, who began competing in pageants at age 10, called it a “privilege” to be in the running for Nebraska’s top rodeo title. “You rarely bring your own horse to a rodeo as Miss Rodeo Nebraska,” she said. “It’s important to be able to ride different horses and navigate each arena confidently.”

Lange, representing northeast Nebraska, emphasized how social media has expanded the reach and impact of the role. “I don’t have a large cheering section here, but through social media, so many people back home can follow the pageant and support me,” she said.

Organizers credit community support, longstanding sponsorships and a deep roster of volunteers for the rodeo’s continued success and national reputation. Fisher noted that North Platte’s pride in hosting the event fuels its growth and helps attract top-tier rodeo athletes.

“Guys that have been part of NebraskaLand Days for 40 years still want to see this grow,” he said. “It’s our chance to showcase North Platte and kick off the summer.”

This year’s rodeo will once again feature livestock from Beutler and Son, whose elite stock frequently appears at the National Finals Rodeo (NFR). Thompson emphasized the importance of quality animals to the rodeo’s success.

“These are true animal athletes,” he said. “They get better every year, just like the cowboys and cowgirls. Beutler and Son bring the kind of stock that contestants can win on.”

The festivities begin at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Wild West Arena with the horsemanship competition, a public event showcasing contestants’ riding skills. Miss contestants will ride horses not their own, while teen contestants will compete on their personal mounts. A community barbecue and raffle will follow at the pavilion, and the speech competition will take place at 5 p.m. at North Platte Community College.

“This is such a great opportunity for the public to come out and see what these young women are capable of,” said Charlotte Wagner, a board member with the Miss Rodeo Nebraska Organization. “Horsemanship is a huge part of what we do, and it’s really exciting to watch.”

This year’s competition features three Miss contestants and two Teen contestants. The organization is also welcoming back former titleholders as part of its 70th anniversary celebration.

On Monday, June 16, the annual Miss Rodeo Nebraska Style Show will be held at Venue 304, beginning with a social hour at 6 p.m. The event will include a fashion show and vendor booths, offering a more intimate and formal setting than in previous years.

The Miss Teen Rodeo Nebraska Coronation is scheduled for Tuesday evening at the college, moved from its traditional midday slot to allow more community members to attend after work.

The new Miss Rodeo Nebraska will be crowned Wednesday night during the rodeo at 7:30 p.m. at the Wild West Arena. Visiting royalty, including Miss Rodeo America and five state queens, will be in attendance throughout the week.

“Even after the coronation, the work isn’t done,” Wagner said. “There’s still paperwork, appearances, and a lot of behind-the-scenes effort that continues through Thursday.”

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — David P. Huebner, a North Platte native, former Border Patrol agent, and agricultural producer, has officially announced his candidacy for Nebraska’s 3rd Congressional District. He will run as a conservative Republican, challenging longtime incumbent Rep. Adrian Smith of Gering, who has held the seat since 2007.

In an interview on Sandhills Spotlight On Eagle Media's <a href="http://www.z935country.com">Z 93.5 Country</a> with Derek Beck this week, Huebner emphasized his deep local roots and hands-on experience in farming, law enforcement, and small business ownership as key qualifications for the role.

“I want someone in Congress who has skin in the game,” Huebner said. “Someone who knows what it’s like to get up in a snowstorm to check on calves or to put on a badge and a gun and serve on the southern border.”

Huebner, 38, returned to western Nebraska five years ago to raise his family and operate a small ag business. He believes his background gives him a direct connection to issues central to the district, including agriculture and border security.

“Border security is national security,” he said, recounting his years of service under Presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump. “We need to codify policies that protect our borders and our citizens. That’s not partisan—it’s common sense.”

The 3rd Congressional District covers most of western and central Nebraska and is among the largest districts geographically in the country, with 80 counties. Huebner said he’s already begun a grassroots campaign, attending events in York and Buffalo counties in the days following his May 30 announcement.

“I’ve got 46 weeks to cover 80 counties before the primary. We’re hitting the road hard. Voters deserve to meet the person asking for their support,” he said.

In addition to agricultural and security issues, Huebner voiced concern about how undocumented immigration may impact future U.S. Census counts and congressional representation for Nebraska.

“If we don’t fix how illegal aliens are counted, we risk losing a House seat. That could mean losing the 3rd District entirely. We have to get ahead of that now,” he said.

Huebner said his campaign will be grounded in bold conservative values, including support for law enforcement, border security, Christian principles, and rural America.

OGALLALA, Neb. — The Wild West Soap Box Derby is back in high gear this Saturday, June 7, as racers from across the region compete in the prestigious FirstEnergy All-American Championship Race and the Super Kids Classic at the derby track in Ogallala.

Local Director Dave Barrett joined Sandhills Post this week to preview the big event, which will determine which young drivers advance to the world championships in Akron, Ohio, July 13–19. Ogallala’s race is one of about 100 nationwide where champions automatically qualify for the global showdown.

“This is the one race each year that earns automatic bids to Akron,” said Barrett. “It’s really special — it’s free to attend, family-friendly, and the racing is incredibly competitive.”

The Super Kids Classic kicks off at 1 p.m., followed by stock, super stock, and masters division races starting around 1:45 p.m. Spectators can expect three to four hours of action, including the drivers’ parade and opening ceremonies. The race follows a double-elimination format.

Unique to soap box derby racing, competitors draw from a “wheel bank” to ensure fairness, swapping wheels and lanes with each opponent. “It’s about as even as it gets,” Barrett said. “You can’t win with tricked-out wheels — the racing is decided by skill.”

Last year, Ogallala celebrated a world champion when local racer Ethan Auwerda won the Super Kids title in Akron. Another local, Diego Juarez, finished as runner-up in the Super Stock Rally division. Region 4, which includes Nebraska and surrounding states, remains one of the most competitive in the nation.

Barrett credited the Ogallala Optimist Club and Pinnacle Bank — sponsors since the track opened 19 years ago — as key partners in making the event possible. Eichner’s Sales and Service also donated a $2,000 grill to support the derby’s fundraising efforts.

“Without sponsors and volunteers, we couldn’t put on an event like this,” said Barrett, noting the loss of fireworks sales this year left a funding gap.

Spectators are encouraged to bring the whole family to enjoy racing, food from the Derby Diner, and community fun. The event is free to attend, and raffle tickets are available to support the program.

Keith County Big Give's Caitlin Fuller talks about how local non-profits score with Big Give

The North Platte City Council reviewed a wide range of agenda items during its June 3 meeting, with Mayor Brandon Kelliher addressing property rehabilitation efforts, rezoning proposals and infrastructure agreements.

Among the first major topics discussed were the approvals of agreements to purchase deteriorated properties at 504 and 506 North Bryan Avenue. Using state grant funds, the city aims to acquire and potentially rehabilitate blighted properties through a program designed to address urban decay.

“These properties have sat empty for years, and in many cases are beyond private repair,” Kelliher said. “But we’ll inspect them after purchase. If structurally sound, we’ll fix and sell them for rehab. Otherwise, we tear them down.”

He added that these acquisitions bring the total to seven properties under the city’s blight remediation efforts, with plans to auction or solicit bids on cleared lots later this summer.

Council members also approved the third readings of Ordinances 4209 and 4210. The former rezones land at 3001 West 9th Street from highway commercial to R3 dwelling district to allow a homeowner to build an additional residence. The latter rezones land on East Philip Avenue for a new mobile home park development.

Another item on the agenda involved the beginning phase of a Tax Increment Financing (TIF) process for a property just west of Adams and Rodeo Road. A new ownership group plans to redevelop a former motel into efficiency apartments. A blight and substandard declaration will first go before the city planning commission before returning to the council for approval.

The council then voted against a proposed zoning change for properties located at 801–807 South Elm Street. Jason and Kayla Jensen, owners of Enzo Athletic Performance, a local fitness business, had proposed expanding into the area.

“This is one of the toughest decisions a council makes,” said Kelliher. “There’s no right or wrong here—it’s about what’s the best use for the land.”

Kelliher noted that the lots have remained undeveloped for decades despite multiple home-building cycles, likely due to high costs. While the votes had more nays, he expressed hope the city could assist the Jensen's in finding a location to help with their expansion search.

“These are good problems to have,” Kelliher said. “We’d rather have successful businesses looking to expand than vacant buildings with no plans.”

As the meeting concluded, Kelliher encouraged residents to take part in upcoming community events, including the Miss Nebraska Pageant, Grape and Sizzle fundraiser, and Miss Rodeo Nebraska, all leading into Nebraskaland Days and the Buffalo Bill Rodeo.

“If you can’t find something to do in June in North Platte, you’re not looking hard enough,” Kelliher said with a laugh.

The next city council meeting is scheduled for June 18.

Jason and Kayla Jensen, owners of Enzo Athletic Performance, a local fitness business, had proposed expanding into the area.</p><p>“This is one of the toughest decisions a council makes,” said Kelliher. “There’s no right or wrong here—it’s about what’s the best use for the land.”</p><p>Kelliher noted that the lots have remained undeveloped for decades despite multiple home-building cycles, likely due to high costs. While the votes had more nays, he expressed hope the city could assist the Jensen's in finding a location to help with their expansion search.</p><p>“These are good problems to have,” Kelliher said. “We’d rather have successful businesses looking to expand than vacant buildings with no plans.”</p><p>As the meeting concluded, Kelliher encouraged residents to take part in upcoming community events, including the Miss Nebraska Pageant, Grape and Sizzle fundraiser, and Miss Rodeo Nebraska, all leading into Nebraskaland Days and the Buffalo Bill Rodeo.</p><p>“If you can’t find something to do in June in North Platte, you’re not looking hard enough,” Kelliher said with a laugh.</p><p>The next city council meeting is scheduled for June 18.</p>

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — The crown may be changing heads this week, but Miss Nebraska 2024 Raechel Warren and Miss Nebraska’s Teen 2024 Janae Harris are savoring every final moment of their reign as the next generation of competitors arrive in North Platte.

<a href="https://www.missnebraska.org/miss-nebraska#titleholders">Twelve young women will vie for the title of Miss Nebraska 2025</a>, and another <a href="https://www.missnebraska.org/outstanding-teen#mnotlocals">twelve for Miss Nebraska’s Teen 2025</a>, during a weeklong celebration of talent, service, scholarship, and style. Events begin Wednesday, June 4, with a Red Carpet Welcome Ceremony at Venue 304 and culminate with the final night of competition Saturday, June 7, at North Platte High School.

Warren and Harris joined the North Platte Post to reflect on their journeys, share advice for this year’s candidates, and spotlight a packed week of pageant festivities.

“This time last year, I had no idea how much this role would change my life,” said Warren, who competed in her final year of eligibility in 2024. “My goal was to go in, be 100% Raechel, and give it everything. Winning was just the cherry on top of the most fulfilling year.”

For Harris, her journey began with a bit of pre-pageant coaching at a family gathering. “Derek, you sat me down and gave me interview questions. I was so nervous, but it helped so much,” she laughed. “This has been the most incredible year, and I hope to compete at Miss Nebraska in the future.”

Miss Nebraska Week is more than just a competition. It’s a celebration of tradition and mentorship that sets the program apart. One such tradition: each contestant is hosted by a local family—something unique to Nebraska.

“Our host families make this week unforgettable,” Warren said. “It’s a hallmark of the program and part of what makes North Platte feel like home.”

The Sparkler program, previously known as “Little Sisters,” pairs young girls aged 6–12 with delegates. For Harris, the bond she formed with her sparkler last year—sealed with a friendship necklace—remains one of her favorite memories.

“This year I get to see her again,” Harris said. “Mentorship is what my platform is all about, and this week is a chance to pour into the next generation.”

Warren added, “These little girls come back year after year. Some even grow up to compete. It shows just how lasting the impact is.”

This week offers the public multiple chances to meet the delegates. In addition to Wednesday’s Red Carpet Welcome, preliminary competitions will be held Thursday and Friday at 6:30 p.m. at North Platte High School. Saturday’s final begins at 6:00 p.m., followed by a post-pageant celebration at Venue 304.

Additional events include the Forever Red Celebration on Saturday afternoon, autograph signings, and visits to local businesses throughout the week.

“Our board and volunteers have done a phenomenal job,” Warren said. “The events are bigger, the marketing’s stronger, and the community support continues to grow. We’re grateful for all of it.”

Though neither will compete this week, both reigning titleholders plan to be a constant presence throughout the festivities—encouraging contestants and celebrating the sisterhood.

“This week is so different, not having the pressure of competition,” said Warren, who will perform with her mother Friday night. “My job now is to remind the girls to just enjoy it. They’ve done the work—now it’s time to shine.”

Warren plans to marry in September and continue her full-time career at Scoular, a commodities trading company. She and Harris also plan to expand their platforms into businesses, offering mentorship and outreach beyond the stage.

For Harris, who has aged out of the teen division, her sights are now set on Miss.

“This is a sisterhood that changes lives,” she said. “To everyone competing: soak it all in, make friends, and know that this is just the beginning.”

The public is encouraged to attend and support these ambitious young women. As Warren put it, “This is more than a competition—it’s a launchpad for what’s next.”

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — One of Lincoln County’s most anticipated annual fundraisers is back. The Grape &amp; Sizzle event, organized by the Lincoln County Cattle Women's Association, will take place Friday, June 6, at Venue 304 in downtown North Platte. The evening combines gourmet food, wine tasting, and lively auctions to raise funds for local nonprofits.

Tracy Olson, president of Grape &amp; Sizzle, and board secretary Amanda White joined the Sandhills Post this week to share details about the event, which has supported Lincoln County for over two decades.

“Our slogan is ‘Beef for a Cause,’ and our mission is to promote the beef industry while giving back to local nonprofits,” Olson said.

This year, three nonprofit recipients were selected through a competitive process:

“We’re thrilled to support organizations doing such meaningful work in our community,” White said.

Guests can expect a gourmet lineup featuring steak and feta salad, sweet and spicy meatballs in puff pastry, Parmesan-rimmed sliders, a cheese and olive station, a dessert bar, and an extensive wine selection.

“Our food and wine offerings are always a hit — people look forward to indulging and enjoying the atmosphere,” White added.

Tickets for the event are $60 per person and include food and wine tasting. They are nearly sold out, with only about 30 remaining. Tickets can be purchased at <a href="http://www.grapeandsizzle.com">www.grapeandsizzle.com</a> or through the Grape &amp; Sizzle Facebook page.

The evening features both silent and live auctions. Highlights include:

Tom, a former state senator and past president of the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Association, launched the fundraiser as part of his mid-year convention. Linda Hansen chaired the event for over a decade.

“We are so grateful to Tom and Linda for their vision and commitment to this event,” Olson said.

With 18 platinum sponsors — the most ever — this year’s Grape &amp; Sizzle is shaping up to be one of the biggest yet.
