Rosalie Ann Hastings, age 76, of Gering, NE passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2022 at the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, NE.

Visitation with family greeting friends will be held from 5 to 7PM, &nbsp;a recitation of the Rosary will follow, beginning at 7pm on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, McCook. &nbsp;

Rosalie Ann Hastings (1946-2022)

&nbsp; &nbsp; Doris A. Oliver, born March 11, 1937 in Kearney, Nebraska, passed away November 22, 2022 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, Nebraska.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; She will be missed by so many. Her children: Sandra (Mike) Teel, Mark (Kay) Oliver, Dennis (Brenda) Oliver, Daniel (Rita) Oliver, and Richard (Evelyn) Oliver wish to thank the many friends and caretakers who helped Doris make her journey home.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; We are sure she has been reunited with her husband (our dad), Benny Ray Oliver; her parents, Elmer and Ruth (Puttergill) Shormann; her brothers, Charles (Kathy) Shormann and Clarence (Sue) Shormann; her sister, Shirley (Lonnie) Todd; plus numerous family and friends.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Her beloved sister, Delene Lueken, still lives in Kingman, Arizona.&nbsp; Doris’ much loved ten grandchildren: James, Heather, Heath, Taryn, Matthew, Briana, Chris, Benny, Brady, and Alexis, along with her twelve great-grandchildren will miss GG greatly.&nbsp; She loved babies and was looking forward to two new great-grandchildren.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Our mother was a dedicated nurse for most of her life.&nbsp; She graduated from Shelton High School, then went to and received her degree from Duchesne College.&nbsp; She worked for many years at Lutheran Memorial Hospital in Grand Island and later at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.&nbsp; She was always taking care of someone.

&nbsp; &nbsp; We are a wrestling family.&nbsp; Her four boys all wrestled; a couple even still coach it.&nbsp; She loved the sport.&nbsp; Doris followed Nebraska football and loved watching a good game of volleyball or baseball.&nbsp; Our mother had many hobbies.&nbsp; Her main one was quilting.&nbsp; She loved mixing and matching the colors into special designs for each of her loved ones.&nbsp; She also liked to collect recipes; she could always find you a new recipe if you asked.&nbsp; Doris liked to garden.&nbsp; She canned everything.&nbsp; She liked a good game of cards and Chinese checkers.&nbsp; She loved listening to what she called good music and enjoyed a healthy discussion of politics.

&nbsp; &nbsp; She was our mom!&nbsp; We look forward to the day we will see her again.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Doris' family honored her wish to serve as an anatomical gift participant with the Nebraska Anatomical Board.&nbsp; A memorial service is being planned for a later date.

Doris Ann Oliver (1937-2022)

Donna Kay Holbein, age 75, peacefully went to be with her heavenly family on November 22, 2022 at Brookestone Gardens in Kearney, Nebraska.

Donna was born in Lexington, Nebraska on February 5, 1947 to Archie E. and Mary E. (Williamson) Petersen. Donna graduated from Lexington High School in 1965. She graduated from Queen Anne School of Beauty in Kearney, Nebraska in 1966. On April 24, 1966, she married her soulmate and partner for life, Dale Edward Holbein, of Overton. To their union they had three children, Denise Kay, Daryn Eugene and Dahlas Dale. &nbsp;Donna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend, business owner and well-loved community member.&nbsp; Donna was side by side with Dale through every step of their journey. Dale and Donna, Donna and Dale – you could not say one without the other. After graduating from beauty school, Donna owned and operated LaPetite Beauty Salon in Lexington with Dale.&nbsp; They later opened Milady Beauty Bar in Lexington where she continued to work as a hairstylist for nearly 40 years.&nbsp; Donna and Dale also owned Craftique which later became Awards Plus of Lexington. Donna loved her work with the Dawson County Fairgrounds where she worked with Dale and his business partners to build the Dawson County Raceway in 1969. She was the woman behind the scenes working alongside Dale to manage the Dawson County Fairgrounds for fifteen years. She loved the Dawson County Fair and made life-long friends from talent agents to the carnival owners to fellow fair managers and board members from across the state. Donna was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lexington. She was a member of the Lexington Mrs. Jaycees and served as the State president. &nbsp;Donna was a proud firefighter wife and mother for more than 55 years, supporting Dale, Dahlas and Daryn as they served the community as members of the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department. She was a member of Lexington Ladies Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She also worked for the City of Lexington doing fire and rescue reports for the department. Donna was creative and loved to try new craft projects, design special awards for her customers, or make unique keepsakes for those she loved. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and family; and watching all kinds of stock car racing. Her family was the most important thing in her life.&nbsp; She loved her children and having the family together for supper, a family celebration or spending time at the race track. But Donna’s greatest joy was definitely being Grandma! Carson and Ava were the pride and joy of her life. Whether it was golf cart rides and McDonald’s breakfast with Carson or doing crafts and building Legos with Ava, she loved every minute of being a Grandma. Carson and Ava made her eyes light up no matter how she was feeling.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Holbein; parents, Archie and Mary Petersen; father and mother-in-law Edward and Esther (Hansen) Holbein; three grandchildren, Carter Edward, Caden Eugene, and Hadee Marie Holbein. Left to celebrate her life are her children, Dahlas and Amy (Wolsleben) Holbein of Lexington; Daryn and Nicole (Armagost) Holbein of Okmulgee, OK; and Denise and Greg Behrends of Hastings, NE; her grandchildren Carson and Ava Holbein of Lexington; brother-in-law Dean and Barbara Holbein of Prosper, TX; her nephews and nieces; cousins; and numerous friends.

Donna Jean Post, 60, of North Platte, passed away November 20, 2022 at home.&nbsp; She was born on July 16, 1962 to Mervin and Barbara (Larson) Titchen in North Platte.

Donna grew up in North Platte and graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 1980.&nbsp; She worked at Toughware as a seamstress for 15 years.&nbsp; She also worked as a seamstress at Ideal Linen for 7 years.&nbsp; Donna married Rod Davis in 1980 and to this union, two children were born, Tony and Heather.&nbsp; She married Eric Post and they were married for 15 years. Donna loved to bowl, collect skulls, and competing with Tony in their collections.&nbsp; She always tried to help people whenever she could.

Donna Jean Post (1962-2022)

Darrel Ray Uhrmacher, 69, of Sutherland, passed away November 22, 2022 at home.&nbsp; He was born on September 20, 1953 to Raymond and Helen (Tanner) Uhrmacher in Superior, NE.

Darrel grew up in Superior, attending a country school through the 8th&nbsp;grade, and graduating from Superior High School in 1971. After graduating, Darrel began secretly taking flying lessons, against his parents’ approval.&nbsp; In 1972, he received his pilots license and also joined the Army National Guard, serving from 1972-1978.&nbsp; Darrel flew private planes, crop dusters, and eventually corporate jets.&nbsp; He flew his family for the holidays, for travel and just for fun. In 1980, Darrel went on a blind date with Barb Hansen.&nbsp; A year later, on October 3, 1981, they were married in the Lutheran Church in Holdrege.&nbsp; The couple had two children, Shannon and Andrew. &nbsp;The family moved around Nebraska, following Darrel’s profession and hobby as a pilot. &nbsp;&nbsp;They spent a majority of their lives living in Omaha, 30 years, and Imperial for four.&nbsp; After retiring in 2019, Darrel and Barb moved to Sutherland to be closer to their grandchildren. Darrel was a busy man with a plethora of hobbies.&nbsp; Some of the activities he enjoyed were horse training, gunsmithing, archery, gardening, rebuilding motorcycles, and really, anything that took place outdoors.&nbsp; Just recently, Darrel’s son taught him how to play the guitar. &nbsp;He loved his grandchildren and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them, going fishing, attending their program’s and sporting events, and giving Maddyn Hershey candy bars every Thursday after gymnastics. &nbsp;He could fix anything; if he didn’t know how, he taught himself.&nbsp; Darrel was a sharpshooter in the military.&nbsp; He had a dry sense of humor and treasured his alone time but always had plenty to talk about; he was full of endless knowledge.&nbsp; Darrel loved to read, study, and learn about the intricate details of all things.&nbsp; Darrel was fully dedicated to anything and everything he did, from his career and hobbies to his family.

Darrel is survived by wife, Barbara Uhrmacher, of Sutherland; children, Shannon (Brian) Rotert, of Sutherland, Andy Uhrmacher, of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Drew, Maddyn, Archer; brother, Virgil (Cheryl) Uhrmacher, of Thedford; father-in-law, Louis Hansen; brothers-in-law, William Hansen, of Los Angeles, CA, Robert (Darla) Hansen, of North Carolina; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. Darrel was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Helen; mother-in-law, Marian Hansen; siblings, Catherine Ahrens, Melvin Uhrmacher.

Darrel was a busy man with a plethora of hobbies.&nbsp; Some of the activities he enjoyed were horse training, gunsmithing, archery, gardening, rebuilding motorcycles, and really, anything that took place outdoors.&nbsp; Just recently, Darrel’s son taught him how to play the guitar. &nbsp;He loved his grandchildren and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them, going fishing, attending their program’s and sporting events, and giving Maddyn Hershey candy bars every Thursday after gymnastics. &nbsp;He could fix anything; if he didn’t know how, he taught himself.&nbsp; Darrel was a sharpshooter in the military.&nbsp; He had a dry sense of humor and treasured his alone time but always had plenty to talk about; he was full of endless knowledge.&nbsp; Darrel loved to read, study, and learn about the intricate details of all things.&nbsp; Darrel was fully dedicated to anything and everything he did, from his career and hobbies to his family.Darrel is survived by wife, Barbara Uhrmacher, of Sutherland; children, Shannon (Brian) Rotert, of Sutherland, Andy Uhrmacher, of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Drew, Maddyn, Archer; brother, Virgil (Cheryl) Uhrmacher, of Thedford; father-in-law, Louis Hansen; brothers-in-law, William Hansen, of Los Angeles, CA, Robert (Darla) Hansen, of North Carolina; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. Frances Dawn Abbott of Cozad left this world Monday, November 21, 2022, four days short of her 90th birthday, at Cozad Community Hospital. &nbsp; &nbsp; Donna Lea Chambers was born in Allison, Kansas on January 29, 1931 to Archie Theodore and Ruby (Rolland) McKenna.&nbsp; She attended school in Oberlin and graduated from Decatur Community High School with the class of 1948. &nbsp; &nbsp; In 1948, Donna married Robert Chambers in Oberlin, Kansas.&nbsp; The couple would have eight children together.&nbsp; They would later divorce.&nbsp; In her lifetime, Donna made homes in McCook, Nebraska, Oberlin, Kansas, and in Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; In Hays, she worked at the High Plains Medical Health Center for over 25 years as a secretary and clerk.&nbsp; Donna worked hard all her life to support her family.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Donna enjoyed sewing and quilting.&nbsp; She made quilts for many of her children and grandchildren.&nbsp; She enjoyed cooking and loved to travel.&nbsp; She took countless trips with the family and saw most of the Continental United States.&nbsp; She also took many cruises and countless bus tours, one traveling through Canada and Alaska.&nbsp; Above all, Donna was a proud mother and grandmother.&nbsp; She enjoyed her grandchildren’s many activities and especially cherished the family trips to Chadron to watch Eagle Football games in the fall.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Donna passed away Sunday morning, November 20, 2022 at Community Hospital in McCook.&nbsp; She was 91 years of age.

&nbsp; VICTOR "VIC" MCCLAIN, 66, of Sutherland, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, November 13, 2022. Vic was born December 10, 1955, at Keith County, Nebraska, to Roy Dewayne and L. Nadean (Staples) McClain. He grew up on the ranch at Arthur and attended Ogallala High School. Vic entered the US Air Force in May of 1977 and served for four years, one of which was in Korea. Following his honorable discharge in May of 1981, Vic attended Mid-Plains Community College and later became certified as a welder. He also attended the Oklahoma Horse Shoeing School in Purcell, OK. Vic completed his equine studies and subsequently worked in corrective shoeing for years, in addition to his primary work as a welder. Vic loved horses and the outdoors. He loved participating in rodeos and even did some stunt riding in New Jersey as part of a film production that the Petersons were working on. His childhood on the ranch in the Nebraska sandhills with his siblings was an adventurous one with many laughs, and practical jokes played upon each other. The kids all worked hard and played, and life revolved around the family. Vic was always a character with a good sense of humor and a sharp wit. Vic always had a bit of an ornery streak from childhood. As a man, Vic was generous, a perfectionist, and unfailingly polite. Vic was preceded in death by his father, Roy McClain; his mother, L. Victor Roy McClain (1955-2022)

Melissa Sue Hernandez,30, of North Platte, died on November 18, 2022.&nbsp; She was born to Pedro and Linda (Monnier) Hernandez on March 25, 1992, in Lakewood, CA.

Melissa was raised in North Platte and graduated with the class of 2010 from North Platte High School.&nbsp; She worked in customer service.&nbsp; In 2015, Melissa and her partner, Ray Ramos, welcomed Priscella Elizabeth Ramos to the world and in 2019, Amiyah Kaye Ramos.&nbsp;

Family was everything to Melissa, her daughters were her pride and joy.&nbsp; She loved reading books to them and was always giving them hugs and kisses.&nbsp; She had a bond with her brothers that was untouchable.&nbsp; Melissa loved to cook for her family, especially “hot dog chili”.&nbsp; She was always very kind, caring, and loyal to those around her.&nbsp; As a child, Melissa dealt with many health problems but always kept a great attitude and a “survivor” mentality.&nbsp; She was so strong-willed and ready for any obstacle that came her way.

Left to remember Melissa is her mother, Linda, of Kearney; daughters, Priscella and Amiyah; brothers, Pedro and John Hernandez, both of North Platte; grandmother, Rosa Hernandez of California; aunt, Connie Bernal, of North Platte; many other family members and tons of friends.

Melissa Hernandez (1992-2022)

Dave&nbsp;Wengler, age 74, of North Platte, passed away at Great Plains Health on November 19, 2022, following health complications.

Dave was born to Jacob and Margaret Wengler on May 11, 1948, at Roseland, NE, where he grew up. The family later moved to Hastings where Dave attended school. He went to work as a welder for T&amp;L Irrigation building new pivots then for Overhead Door Company in Hastings and North Platte.

In 1980 Dave hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad in Maintenance of Way and worked his way up to a management position. He retired from the railroad in 2015 then had more time to enjoy fishing and camping.

Dave was united in marriage to Carolyn Krieger on March 4, 1977, in Hastings and they moved to North Platte the following year. Dave was a member of the Eagles and Moose Lodges.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Margaret, and siblings, Dale, Gary, Don and Vida.

Dave is survived by his wife, Carolyn, sons, Amon Krieger and David Wengler, and other family.

Dave Wengler (1948-2022)

Lola Lorraine (Badgley) Kirby, 95, of Oconto, Nebraska, peacefully passed away on November 18, 2022, in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Lola was born June 12, 1927, in Oconto, Nebraska, to Raymond and Matilda (Helmuth) Badgley. She grew up on a farm south of Oconto and attended Elementary School in a little country school in that area. She walked to school every day in snow up to her knees uphill both ways. After elementary school, she attended high school in Oconto where she graduated with the class of 1945. As was the custom in those days, she stayed in town with Evelyn Maier who ran the telephone office while she was attending high school. After graduating, she became a telephone operator in Ogallala, Nebraska. Two years later she returned to Oconto to help care for her ailing mother. One night at a dance she met the most incredible, handsome and kind man. In 1949, she married Ralph Kirby. To this union, four daughters were born. Ralph and Lola farmed south of Oconto where they kept busy, there was always something that needed to be tended to. They later moved into Oconto where they lived out the rest of their lives. Lola was an incredible cook. Her house always smelled like something delicious has been made. She and Ralph enjoyed traveling and would often jump in the plane and fly somewhere for lunch. They also enjoyed traveling around the United States.

Lola was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, her parents, Raymond and Matilda and her two brothers, Glen and Clifford. She is mourned by her four daughters, Linda (Tony) Curia of Oconto, Sally Kirby of Portland, Oregon, Karen (David Carter) Greenway of Derby, Kansas and Kim (Michael Stearns) Kirby of Albuquerque, New Mexico; six grandchildren, Kaycee, Patrick and Mike McNulty, Billy Knispel, Kevin Williams and Megan Hamstra; six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren as well as many friends and family. She will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the Oconto Community Center in Oconto, Nebraska with Pastor Ryan Findley, officiating. The service will be live streamed via the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home Facebook page. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, from 5-7pm at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, Nebraska. Interment will be in the Oconto Cemetery in Oconto, Nebraska.  </figure>Lola Lorraine (Badgley) Kirby, 95, of Oconto, Nebraska, peacefully passed away on November 18, 2022, in her home surrounded by her loving family.Lola was born June 12, 1927, in Oconto, Nebraska, to Raymond and Matilda (Helmuth) Badgley. She grew up on a farm south of Oconto and attended Elementary School in a little country school in that area. She walked to school every day in snow up to her knees uphill both ways. After elementary school, she attended high school in Oconto where she graduated with the class of 1945. As was the custom in those days, she stayed in town with Evelyn Maier who ran the telephone office while she was attending high school. After graduating, she became a telephone operator in Ogallala, Nebraska. Two years later she returned to Oconto to help care for her ailing mother. One night at a dance she met the most incredible, handsome and kind man. In 1949, she married Ralph Kirby. To this union, four daughters were born. Ralph and Lola farmed south of Oconto where they kept busy, there was always something that needed to be tended to. They later moved into Oconto where they lived out the rest of their lives. Lola was an incredible cook. Her house always smelled like something delicious has been made. She and Ralph enjoyed traveling and would often jump in the plane and fly somewhere for lunch. They also enjoyed traveling around the United States.Lola was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, her parents, Raymond and Matilda and her two brothers, Glen and Clifford. She is mourned by her four daughters, Linda (Tony) Curia of Oconto, Sally Kirby of Portland, Oregon, Karen (David Carter) Greenway of Derby, Kansas and Kim (Michael Stearns) Kirby of Albuquerque, New Mexico; six grandchildren, Kaycee, Patrick and Mike McNulty, Billy Knispel, Kevin Williams and Megan Hamstra; six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren as well as many friends and family. She will be greatly missed.Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the Oconto Community Center in Oconto, Nebraska with Pastor Ryan Findley, officiating. The service will be live streamed via the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home Facebook page. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, from 5-7pm at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, Nebraska. Interment will be in the Oconto Cemetery in Oconto, Nebraska. Lola L Kirby (1927-2022)

Derek Brent Sheffer, age 71, of McCook, NE, formerly of Hutchinson, KS, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2022, at the Community Hospital in McCook. Derek was born on June 21, 1951, in Phillipsburg, KS to Winton Lott and Peggy Jeanne (Stice) Sheffer. He received his education in Stockton, Kansas where he graduated from high school. Derek was united in marriage to Paula Suzanne Schmidt on September 1, 1984 in Enid, OK. Derek worked for AutoZone for many years in Hutchinson, KS until his retirement in 2016. Derek received his pilots license and loved to fly. He especially enjoyed flying a Cessna 172. Derek loved to cook, put puzzles together, but his greatest joy was his grandchildren. He was a member of the McCook Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cella Gregg; brother-in-law, Homer Schoeller; and parents-in-law, Jakie and Beverly Schmidt.

Those left to celebrate his memory are his wife, Paula Sheffer of McCook; children, Darin Sheffer of Ellsworth, KS, Joey Ciarla of Fort Collins, CO, Patty (Jeff) Tidyman of McCook, NE, Janae (Ryan) Gorman of Edmond, OK; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Karla Schoeller of Halstead, KS; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mary Jane “Janie” Drost Davis, died on November 20, 2022, peacefully at her home in North Platte, NE., at the age of 88 years 6 months. She was born on May 17, 1934 in Ogallala, NE., to the late Dr. W.V. Drost and Muriel Minnie Welsh Drost.&nbsp; Janie married George O. Davis, father of her nine children on July 20, 1950.&nbsp; She was a mother and homemaker.&nbsp; Janie was a woman of prayer and faith, who walked closely with the Lord.&nbsp; As she embraced the demands, struggles and joy of life.&nbsp; Her Catholic Christian Faith sustained her.&nbsp; Janie was a lifelong member of the Altar Society/Council of Catholic Women.&nbsp; She was active in Catholic Cursillo.&nbsp; Janie was very active in several Al Anon groups and sponsored many individuals whose loved ones were also in recovery.&nbsp; After raising her nine children, she worked as a caregiver.

Janie is survived by her nine children and spouses; Scott (Marcy Rector) Davis, Shanny Davis, Chris (Leasa Hayes) Davis, Linda Roggow, Marty (Donna Carlson) Davis, Tricia (Ted) Ferguson, Michael (Joan Toro) Davis, Kelly (Marianne Waller) Davis, and Andy (Angela Amsberry) Davis; her siblings, Annette Reimers, Kay Suhr, Bill and Carol Drost and brother-in-law D.R. Altig; 28 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Janie was preceded in death by three sisters, Susan Bradley, Barbara Hinde and Margy Altig; 4 brothers-in-law; son-in-law Dwight Roggow and granddaughter Leslie Davis.

Mary Jane "Janie" Davis (1934-2022)

Mildred “Milly” Marie Richards, 94, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away November 20, 2022 at Linden Court in North Platte.

Mildred “Milly” Marie Arnold was born March 15th&nbsp;1928 in North Platte Nebraska to Roy and Alice Arnold. She was baptized into the Catholic faith by Father Patrick McDaid on May 6th, 1928.&nbsp; Like many others in the 1930s, Milly grew up in extreme poverty.&nbsp; Her childhood house was a couple of boxcars that her parents were able to make into a home.&nbsp; Milly learned to lean on two things she loved the most, her faith and her family.&nbsp; Milly met the love of her life while working as a car hop at the Shady-Inn.&nbsp; Joseph Scott “Scotty “and Milly were united in marriage February 16th, 1947. Milly spent much of her young adult years as a caretaker for her mother while raising her five boys.&nbsp; Other than caring for her family, Milly had several jobs throughout her life.&nbsp; She worked as a hairdresser both at the Pawnee Hotel and Adams and Swansons Funeral Home.&nbsp; She assisted Scotty with the business affairs of his real estate and insurance company and finally ended her career working for Hoover’s Jewelers in North Platte.

As a devout Catholic, faith was extremely important to Milly.&nbsp; She worked and coordinated many Cursillos helping to start the movement in the Grand Island diocese which is still going strong today.&nbsp; She served as a eucharistic minister for many years at St Patrick’s Catholic Church and enjoyed sharing the eucharist with the homebound, a ministry that was returned to her for years up until her dying days.&nbsp; Milly was a true prayer warrior.&nbsp; She was known to pray for everyone she could from all walks of life.&nbsp; She was open and compassionate no matter their history.&nbsp;

The way Milly told a story will be one of the things we remember most about her.&nbsp; While she shared different events from her life, she would use her witty sense of humor to fill the room with laughter.&nbsp; Milly was often surrounded by children.&nbsp; There was no one she loved more than her grandkids.&nbsp; She could hardly contain her excitement which was expressed with a joyful “praise Jesus!” whenever her grandkids entered the room.&nbsp; She would often be found soothing a baby or rocking a toddler. There are many memories of grandkids gathering at her house for large family dinners and sleepless nights on the living room floor.&nbsp;

Milly is survived by her sons Joseph “Scotty” of North Platte, Michael of Omaha, Patrick (Kari) of North Platte, Steven of Lewellen.&nbsp; Grandchildren Brenda Brummels, Kristopher (Connie) Richards, Michelle (Shaun) Pagel, Sara (Christopher) Ningen, Michael (Lindsey) Richards, Randal Richards, Robert Richards, Zachary Richards, Cody (Jessica) Richards, Christopher (Sunny) Bryant, Charity Richards, Cheri (Cody) Anderson, Alisha (Jeff) Hauser, 24 great-grand kids, and special family friend Todd Chappell.&nbsp; She was proceeded in death by her parents and husband, brothers Frank and Ray Arnold and Son Anthony “Tony” Richards.

Mildred "Milly" Richards (1928-2022)

Gary “Kumbo” Edward Kumm, 60, of Callaway, Nebraska peacefully passed away surrounded by family Thursday, November 17th at his home in Callaway NE after a long, tough battle with cancer.

Kumbo was born September 4, 1962 in Plainview, NE to Norma Lee Croxen. He attended and graduated high school in Creighton NE before joining the Army in 1981. Kumbo served his country from 1981-1984 and talked often about the time he spent in Germany. Kumbo was a member of the American Legion Post 59.

As a teenager Kumbo went to work for Pahl Construction and was a natural at running any piece of equipment he climbed into. It was in the Army that Kumbo honed his operating skills in heavy equipment, dozers being his favorite.. Kumbo could tell you anything you wanted to know about dozers and was extremely enthusiastic when doing so. Kumbo worked for 4 construction companies in his career including Paulson Inc. and Charlie Lloyd Construction. He loved his work and had great respect for his bosses Larry Paulsen and Charlie Lloyd.

Kumbo was an easy going, kind, compassionate soul. He believed very much in live, and let live and was never quick to judge anyone. He came from a very large family with 10 brothers and sisters. Kumbo had many childhood stories from chasing the hogs that escaped, to collecting the eggs, and warding off chicken predators. He spoke often on the phone with his mom and siblings and always looked forward to their visits. Deer season was a special time of the year when brothers Tim and Michael would join him on the hunt, and often his good friend Vogtsie and nephews would make the trip too.

He was an avid football fan, making sure to have a weekly Husker pool for anyone that wanted to join in, and if he didn’t get the pool filled his canine best friend Spencer would always take the remaining squares. He was a solid Raiders football fan and looked forward to the weekends when friends and family would stop over to watch the games with him. Grandson John Brouillette and close friend Shane Newton were frequent visitors. John wanted to share, “To the Moon Kumbo, To the Moon.”

Kumbo loved holding his grandkids, and later on the greats. He got a kick out of them climbing up on his lap and pulling on his long beard. Kumbo looked forward to their visits and never hesitated to break out the Hi Ho Cherry O game.

Kumbo was preceded in death by his dad Eldon “Eldie” Croxen, his lifelong friend Dave “Vogtsie” Vogt and grandson Austin Jon Hiatt. He is survived by his life partner Janice Loghry, his mom Norma Lee Croxen, siblings Kathy (David) Duesing, James (Selee) Kumm, Kelly (Layne) Pahl, Timothy (Lori) Kumm, Kay (Mike Brown) Croxen, Michael Croxen, Kim (Roger) Lemke, Krista (J.D.) Mach, Karol (William) Grimes, Lee (Kendra) Croxen. Stepkids Mitzi (Ron) Graham, Dawn (Tim Hogg) Hiatt, Connie Ekeler, Tom (Angela) Hiatt and Tim Hiatt. Grandkids Sandy, Chelsey, Bud, Leann, John, Matt, Nicole, Zack, Haley, Sidney, Riley, Noah, and numerous great grandkids, nieces, nephews and friends who he loved dearly.

There will be no visitation, as the family is honoring Kumbo’s wish for cremation. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.

Kumbo could tell you anything you wanted to know about dozers and was extremely enthusiastic when doing so. Kumbo worked for 4 construction companies in his career including Paulson Inc. and Charlie Lloyd Construction. He loved his work and had great respect for his bosses Larry Paulsen and Charlie Lloyd.Kumbo was an easy going, kind, compassionate soul. He believed very much in live, and let live and was never quick to judge anyone. He came from a very large family with 10 brothers and sisters. Kumbo had many childhood stories from chasing the hogs that escaped, to collecting the eggs, and warding off chicken predators. He spoke often on the phone with his mom and siblings and always looked forward to their visits. Deer season was a special time of the year when brothers Tim and Michael would join him on the hunt, and often his good friend Vogtsie and nephews would make the trip too.He was an avid football fan, making sure to have a weekly Husker pool for anyone that wanted to join in, and if he didn’t get the pool filled his canine best friend Spencer would always take the remaining squares. He was a solid Raiders football fan and looked forward to the weekends when friends and family would stop over to watch the games with him. Grandson John Brouillette and close friend Shane Newton were frequent visitors. John wanted to share, “To the Moon Kumbo, To the Moon.”Kumbo loved holding his grandkids, and later on the greats. He got a kick out of them climbing up on his lap and pulling on his long beard. Kumbo looked forward to their visits and never hesitated to break out the Hi Ho Cherry O game.Kumbo was preceded in death by his dad Eldon “Eldie” Croxen, his lifelong friend Dave “Vogtsie” Vogt and grandson Austin Jon Hiatt. Renata Lila (Eskam) Svanda, age 88, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022 in Ogallala, Nebraska. She was born December 29, 1933 in Minatare, Nebraska to Fredrick &amp; Eva (Wegelin) Eskam. Eventually they moved to Ogallala &amp; opened up Don’s Pharmacy which they ran until they retired.&nbsp; After retiring they moved to Gering, living on her family’s farm.&nbsp; They were married for 47 years before his passing in 2005. In 2020, Renata moved back to Ogallala. Renata enjoyed working in her garden and doing family genealogy. She was proud of her German-Russian heritage and had membership in the Germans from Russia Heritage Society. Renata faithfully read the bible &amp; she &amp; Don were members of the First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her husband Don; parents Fredrick &amp; Eva; sisters Alyce &amp; Elinor and brother Ernest. Dean was born March 27, 1939 in Brady, NE, son of Gerald Floyd and Ina (Newtson) Slack. He grew up south of Gothenburg attending District 32 for his elementary years.&nbsp; In 1958, he graduated from Gothenburg High School.&nbsp; In his early years he learned life on the farm helping his dad run the tractors and run the team of horses which he continued to help with following high school.&nbsp; &nbsp;Dean also enlisted in the National Guards after high school.&nbsp;&nbsp; Dean married Pamela Marie Jepsen on March 27, 1989 in North Platte, NE. Dean was a member of McCook Seventh Day Adventist Church.&nbsp;

&nbsp; Deborah Lee Frates, 72, long-time Brule resident, passed away on Friday, November 18, at Gothenburg Health. An aggressive form of breast cancer returned and ended her life too quickly. Deb was born at St. Mary's Hospital in North Platte on December 29, 1949, to Leo and Marian (Perlinger) Langmacher. She lived in Sarben, Nebraska, until 3rd grade, then moved with her family to a farm southeast of Brule. Deb attended East Vail Country School (where her future mother-in-law taught), and her 8th-grade graduation was held at the Ogallala Auditorium with other local country schools. Her family moved to the Village of Brule in 1965, and she graduated from Brule High School in 1968. She took business classes at Kearney State College for two years before returning to Brule in 1970. Deb was the Village of Brule Clerk for 17 years, where she modernized operations and billing processes. She then began a new position as the secretary of staff development at ESU (Educational Service Unit) 16 and retired after 16 years of dedicated service. She celebrated her 1st communion at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sutherland. Her dress was also worn by both of her daughters and granddaughters for their first communion ceremonies, spanning nearly 60 years. Deb was a long-time member of Saint Luke's Catholic Church, and her class was the first to be confirmed in the newly-built Saint Luke's Church in 1960. In the same church, she was united in marriage to John Robert Frates on November 27, 1970. All three of Deb's children, Niki, Anne, and Mike, were all baptized in Saint Luke's Church. In later years, Deb continued to deepen her faith through a weekly bible study with Brule friends. Outside of Deb's career and family activities, she enjoyed being an active member of her community. She was a founding member of the Villagers Club of Brule, which just celebrated its 50th anniversary. She spent over 40 years as the co-director of the Brule Alumni Association and recently served as secretary for the Brule Cemetery Board. Deb had a special talent for flower gardening, beautifying her community, and preparing her home for every holiday, gathering, and celebration. She was an avid reader and loved to travel. Special trip locations included Alaska, Germany, California to visit her son, a 50th wedding anniversary trip to Branson, and a family reunion trip to Washington Island, Wisconsin. Deb loved watching Nebraska Husker Volleyball, exercise class with local friends, live concerts over the years, and music featured on KOMA out of Oklahoma City, which she listened to as a teen on a transistor radio gifted by her father. Her favorite song was "Cherish" by The Association, a theme that resonated through her in many moments with family and friends, especially her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, John Frates of Brule; children, Niki (Aaron) Salomon of Gothenburg, NE, Anne (Zach) Even of Lander, WY, Mike Frates of Omaha, NE; four grandchildren, Avery and Andrew Salomon, Adlyn and Brooks Even; sister, Lynda Hinrichs; along with many other relatives and friends. Deborah Lee Frates (1949-2022)

&nbsp; Scott Allen Snogren, 63, of Ogallala, Nebraska, died on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at UCHealth in Aurora, Colorado. Scott was born December 13, 1958, in Ogallala, NE, to Roy John Snogren and Audrey Lou (Preston) Snogren. He attended Ogallala Public Schools, where he graduated in 1977. Growing up, Scott worked at Armstrong's Filling Station, where he developed a love for the outdoors and a close bond with the Armstrong Family. Not long after, he started his career as a lineman, traveling the country and working in 40 of the 50 states. He eventually settled in Grant, where he married Jody (Stivers) Snogren and welcomed her two sons, Lucas and Nicholas, before adding daughter Samantha to the family. Scott is fondly remembered as a hardworking journeyman lineman and avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed the outdoors with friends and family, playing pitch, telling jokes and stories, and being a captain at all things. Scott was a loving father and grandfather. Scott spent his final years taking others out fishing, showing the ropes to his kids, and even to his final days claiming to be half-man/half-rooster with the rare ability to think like a walleye. Scott is preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Karen and Joe Burgert, and brother Rod Snogren. Scott is survived by children Lucas (Vita) Arias of Lincoln, NE; Nicholas (Brianna) Arias of Lincoln, NE; and Samantha Snogren (Mitchell Reimers) of Grant, NE; grandkids Noah, Lola, Olivia, and Luca Arias. Dorie&nbsp;Traxler unexpectedly passed away at her home in North Platte on November 19, 2022, at the age of 64.

Dorie, the daughter of Ralph and Rhoda Moore, was born in Kearney on February 5, 1958. After graduating from Kearney High School she married David Traxler. They lived in Kearney before moving to Central City. Following David's death in 1996 the family moved to North Platte. While in Central City, Dorie worked in a care home and attended school to be a CNA. She later became a home maker, devoting her time to her family and her birds. She enjoyed watching Days of Our Lives and wrestling. Dorie loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren, and was hopelessly devoted to them all. She will be greatly missed and always loved.

Along with her husband, Dorie was preceded in death by her sister, Donna and husband, Johnny Traxler; sisters-in-law, Darlene Shea and Shirley Butler; brothers-in-law, Lloyd and Sam Traxler; and her parents.

Robert was born on June 15, 1932 in Lenora, Kansas, one of eight children born to Edwin F. and Leila (Carr) Poppert.&nbsp; He graduated high school in Grand Island, NE and played on their state championship football team.&nbsp; He was honored recently as being part of that historic team at an alumni event in Grand Island.&nbsp; He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.&nbsp; On May 20, 1962 he married the love of his life, Jo Cagler and together they had 37 years of marriage until her passing in 1999.&nbsp; Robert hired on the Union Pacific Railroad as a conductor and spent his entire 48-year career until his retirement in 1997.&nbsp; He enjoyed bowling, playing cards with his wife Jo, and was an avid golfer.&nbsp; Memberships included the Eagles, VFW, and ELKS clubs.&nbsp; Known as a hard worker and a man of few words, Robert had a gentle soul and a smile that would melt your heart.&nbsp; He will be missed by all that loved and knew him, and he sure loved his girls.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Michelle Poss (Roger) of North Platte, Jody Foust (Joe) of North Platte, and Kim Davis (Al) of North Platte; step-daughter, Linda Mackessy of Sacramento, CA; grandchildren, Brandy Yoshida of Hoxie, KS, and Braydon Hanna of McCook; great-grandchildren, Wyntr, Delanee, and Trinity; sisters, Linda Eberhardt of Grand Island, and Evie Donnelly of AR; brother, Leonard Poppert of Kearney; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jo; an infant daughter, Patricia; stepson, Greg Henderson; and by siblings, Phyllis, Ralph, Jim, and Marilyn Poppert.&nbsp;

Graveside services with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022 at Fort McPherson National Veterans Cemetery near Maxwell.&nbsp; Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so on Thursday, December 1st from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.&nbsp;

Robert D. Poppert (1932-2022)

Robert&nbsp;Brown, age 91, of North Platte, NE, passed away at Great Plains Health on October 13, 2022.

&nbsp;Celebration of Life will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Odean Colonial Chapel with Chaplain Brenda Lee officiating. Robert, the son of Fulton and Frieda Brown, was born in Lexington on August 18, 1931. After graduating from Lexington High School in 1949 he served in the Army Reserves from 1950-59.

On November 11, 1951, Robert was united in marriage to Ruth Beauchamp at the Methodist Church in Lexington where they made their home. The couple had five children and were married for nearly 71 years.

In 1974 the family moved to North Platte. Robert worked at Mid-Plains Community College as an automotive mechanic instructor for 21 years until retiring in 1995.

Robert loved gardening and his yard. Being a former high school athlete, he liked all sports but Husker football and the Minnesota Vikings were his favorite teams. Over the years Robert went by many names such as Bob, Brownie and Uncle Bob, but Dad and Grandpa were his favorites.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fulton and Frieda; brothers, Lloyd, Lawrance, Kenneth and Wayne Brown; sisters, Elnora Ryckman and Margaret Garcia; and his son, James.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Ruth; sons, Phillip (Polly) Brown of Phoenix, AZ, and Robert (Pam) Brown of North Platte; daughters, Rebecca (Mark) Ryan of Loup City and Nancy Zimmerman of Kearney; his sister, Evelyn Stelk of Grand Island; grandchildren, Matthew, Dennis, Chad, Colby, Austin, Jacob, Michele, Kelly and Jessica; as well as 15 great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren and other family.

Robert Brown (1931-2022)

Kenneth “Kenny” D. Falkena, 63, of North Platte, NE passed away suddenly while hunting alongside his son Jesse on Wednesday, November 16, 2022.

Kenny was born on May 28, 1959 in Hawarden, Iowa the son of Evert “Woody” and Barb (Tone) Falkena.&nbsp; Kenny spent most of his growing up years in Harlan, Iowa attending high school for 2 years before the family moved to North Platte.&nbsp; He graduated from North Platte High School in 1977, and attended Northwest Missouri State University.&nbsp; He worked for his father at Western Engineering for over 35 years, until recently hiring on with the USPS as a contract mail management carrier.&nbsp; He married Renee Curtis on February 19, 1990, at Lake Tahoe, Nevada and together they had 2 sons, Levi and Jesse.&nbsp; In 1995 they moved to Maywood, and then to North Platte in 2002.&nbsp; Kenny enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and playing golf, especially doing these things alongside his sons.&nbsp; Following the sudden passing of his wife Renee in 2007, his boys Levi and Jesse became his whole world.&nbsp; He loved spending time with his boys and all his nieces and nephews that affectionately called him “Uncle Kenny”.

Those left to cherish his memory are sons, Levi and Jesse Falkena both of North Platte; parents, Woody and Barb Falkena of Sutherland; brothers, Jerry Falkena of North Platte, Dave (Ailyn) Falkena of Buckeye, AZ, and Terry (Laura) Falkena of Grand Island; sister, Cheryl (Dane) Bolzer of Mitchell; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Renee; and by a great-niece, Charley Sophia Falkena.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Clint Walker officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.&nbsp; Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 22nd&nbsp;from 4-7 p.m. at First Baptist Church.&nbsp; Carpenter Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.&nbsp; Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to either Lincoln County Wildlife Gun Club or to the First Baptist Church.

Kenneth "Kenny" D. Falkena (1959-2022)

On Saturday, November 19, 2022, Marc Kaschke, a beloved son, husband, father, brother and friend passed away at age 49.&nbsp; He was&nbsp;born to Orville and Mary (Nicholas) Kaschke in North Platte on January 2, 1973. Marc&nbsp;earned his economics degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and went on to Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management to earn his M.B.A. His passion for business started at a young age.&nbsp; He worked at his parents’ John Deere dealership and sold sweet corn&nbsp;during the summer as a child, and in his college years he opened a used CD store before going on to invest in several technology startups.&nbsp; Marc’s dedication to public service started with an internship with Senator Exon and a run for state legislature. He served as Mayor of North Platte from 2008 to 2012.&nbsp;&nbsp;While Mayor, he appointed Police Chief Swain, implemented the pilot project for the brick streets downtown North Platte,&nbsp;renewed North Platte’s Quality Growth fund, and established the Splash pad at Memorial Park.&nbsp; He supported youth and public education across the state. Marc’s intellectual curiosity and zest for life was key to his success as&nbsp;a lifelong entrepreneur, business owner, investor and coach on leadership.&nbsp; Marc was a world traveler, avid history reader, writer, artist and Husker fan.

Marc is survived by his wife of 14 years Kimberley, five children: Jordan, Ashi (husband Ben and grandchildren Asher and August), Camden, Gracelyn, Lexus, parents Orville and Mary, sister Tami, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and countless friends.&nbsp;

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Harvest Christian Fellowship Church with Pastor Jeremy Rinke officiating. Burial will follow at North Platte Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 22 nd from 12 to 7 p.m., with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.
