Donald Leroy Sarnes, 89, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away on September 28, 2022, in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Donald was born on May 7, 1933, in Lexington, Nebraska to Lowell and Frances (Anderson) Sarnes. He graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1951 before going on to study for a year at the University of Nebraska. After spending some time in college, Donald was inducted into the Army in May of 1953 and was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany. He was honorably discharged in April of 1955 after faithfully serving his country. Once back in the United States, Donald began working as a farmer and cattle feeder. Donald was confirmed and served in the Lexington Methodist Church his entire life. On April 22, 1956, Donald was united in marriage to Mary Jewel Anderson. Four children were blessed to this union: Teri, Scott, Lori, and Steven. Donald had many hobbies. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, hunting, fishing, and socializing with several coffee groups. He also loved spending time with his family and making them laugh by telling jokes. He loved flying and eventually earned a private pilot’s license, where he got great pleasure giving people rides. He said that when he was flying, he felt closest to God.

Besides his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his baby brother, Wayne, and sister, Delma Jean. Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Mary; Daughters, Teri (John) Whittington and Lori (Mike) Burr; sons, Scott (Cathy) Sarnes and Steven Sarnes; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

There will be no visitation, as the family is honoring Donald’s wish for cremation. A memorial service will be held on October 8, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. at Parkview Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Thomas officiating. A private family inurnment with military honors will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are kindly suggested to the Heartland Military Museum.

Sandra Lee “Sandy” Kramer, 73, of Lewellen, passed away September 28, 2022 at Ogallala Community Hospital.&nbsp; She was born on June 2, 1949 to Louis and Helen (Wells) Prinz Jr. in Haddonfield, NJ.

Sandy went to school in Camden, NJ and then moved to Stapleton as a teenager.&nbsp; She married Walter Kramer and to this union two children were born: Helen and Dale.&nbsp; Sandy stayed home to spend time with her kids and helped run the trucking business with Walter.&nbsp; After Walter’s passing, Sandy met Jerry Furley in 1998.&nbsp; They spent the last 24 years together, living between Lemoyne and Lewellen. Sandy loved to sew, crochet, and do anything crafty.&nbsp; She developed a love for auctions and enjoyed working outside and taking care of her cats.&nbsp; Sandy was bubbly and happy-go-lucky and was always willing to help anyone.&nbsp; She had several “adopted” kids.

Aaron Lee Cizek was born September 13 1984 in North Platte, NE and died July 24, 2022 at Grants Pass, OR while enjoying one of his favorite things, a leisurely motorcycle ride, on a backroad through the countryside. Aaron, grew up in the Indian Hills neighborhood of North Platte, where he attended Osgood Elementary, Adams Middle School and graduated North Platte High in the class of 2003. He then attended Bellevue University in Omaha for a couple of years where he played soccer and continued with his creative talents in art and ceramics. He then spent several years in Lincoln “finding” himself, before enrolling in Southeast Tech at Beatrice where he completed an Associate degree in Agribusiness/Horticulture in 2010. In 2013, he moved to northern California, working various horticultural related jobs, honing his many skills and talents. In 2016, he met his life partner Chyna Kastens, and they settled in Grants Pass, OR where he established Black Goose Farm, growing CBD hemp, and garden produce. Aaron was a fun loving free spirit, with a big smile and infectious “cackle”. He worked hard, always ready to lend a hand to his many friends and played hard always ready for an adventure. Always chasing his dreams.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Lumir and Evelyn Cizek of Spencer, Leo and Mabel Mulhair of Lynch a brother, Craig Cizek, an uncle, Terry Cizek and an aunt, Elaine Mulhair / Cizek / Rossmeier.&nbsp;

Lonnie Pickering, 75, of Grand Island, Nebraska, formerly of Lexington and Cozad, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022 peacefully at home surrounded by family.

Lonnie was born on November 9, 1946, in Kearney, Nebraska, to Wayne Keith and Iris (Sharp) Pickering. He attended school in Elm Creek, until he entered the service. As a young boy, Lonnie always wanted to be a soldier and once he turned 18, he enlisted into the United States Army on December 16, 1964. He served in Korea, until his honorable discharge, on March 24, 1967. While serving his country, Lonnie received his GED, which he was very proud of.

Following his discharge, Lonnie settled in the Lexington and Cozad area and was united in marriage to Barbara Bourland on February 10, 1967. Four children were blessed to this union; LaVern, Lonna, Crystal and Bruce. While living in Cozad, Lonnie worked as an Arc Welder at Tenneco Monroe Auto. Their marriage would later end in divorce.

Lonnie was then united in marriage to Patricia “Patty” Schultz on February 14, 1986, at Cozad, Nebraska, where her three children were added to the family, Angie, Amalia “Molly”, and Simon “Pete”. The couple made their home in Lexington prior to moving to Cozad in 1993, where they made their home until her death. In 2018, Lonnie moved with his daughter, Crystal and her husband Brian to Loup City for three years before settling in Grand Island in 2021.

Lonnie had an interest in all means of transportation, which included his love for trains, planes and boats. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching old westerns, especially John Wayne films, and was proud of his 1980 El Camino. You could always find Lonnie in his garage tinkering, drinking coffee or taking an occasional nap. His family was very important to him and he loved his dogs.&nbsp;

Survivors include his children, LaVern (Lorie) Pickering of Gaylord, Kansas, Lonna (Robert) Schirm of Loup City, Crystal (Brian) Petzoldt of Grand Island, Bruce (Renee) Pickering of Kearney, Angie (Adam) Coble of Funk, Amalia “Molly” (Ed) Halouska of Sterling, Colorado and Simon “Pete” (Angie) Holbrook of Gothenburg; additional daughter, April Sack; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends, Kay Hartman and Roger Gerdes, both of Cozad.

Besides his parents, Lonnie was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Barbara, wife, Patricia “Patty”, brother, Don Pickering and grandson, Bruce Pickering, Jr.

Karron K Donley (1940-2022)

Sandra “Sandy” Eileen Howell was a caring wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, step-grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world suddenly in her home in Oshkosh on September 27, 2022 at age 80, after multiple health issues and two battles with cancer. &nbsp;

A memorial service is scheduled October 8th, 2022 at 11 A.M. at the Oshkosh Methodist Church with Pastor Seung Ho Park officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in the Oshkosh City Cemetery.&nbsp; Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. Holechek-Bondegard Funeral Home and Cremations in Oshkosh is serving the Howell family. Memorials in Sandy’s name can be made to the Oshkosh United Methodist Church.

She was born to Ross and Sheila (Hinsdale) Roudebush on July 12, 1942, in Oshkosh, NE. &nbsp;She was one of five children. She grew up in Oshkosh and attended Oshkosh Public Schools, graduating Salutatorian of her Class in 1960. She worked multiple jobs to support and provide for her two children: Gary Roudebush and Teresa (Roudebush) Jenkins. Sandy found her passion in bookkeeping for many years for various businesses and the Methodist Church. She was very active in her church and treasured her church family. &nbsp;She married the love of her life, Alvin Leroy Howell on October 10, 1993, and were married for 7 adventure-filled years before he passed away.

Besides spending time with her family and friends, Sandy had a passion for reading, solving puzzles, watching game shows, Nebraska Volleyball, keeping up with her kids and grandkids in various activities and keeping up with the community through Facebook. She loved hosting Christmas morning breakfast every year for her family with her famous breakfast casseroles, cinnamon rolls, and sausage balls.

Sandy will be missed by her family, friends, and community, but is finally pain-free in the arms of the Lord.

Sandy is survived by her children; Gary Roudebush, Teresa (Dale) Jenkins, Special niece; Tammy Krauter, Brother; Kenny Roudebush, Grandchildren; Tanner Jenkins, Ashlyn (Tristen)Jackson, Jeff Roudebush, Joe Roudebush, Allyisa Roudebush, and loving stepchildren; Terri (Lyndyl) Tidwell, Robin (Brandy) Howell, Rusty (Melony) Howell and their children and grandchildren.&nbsp; Sandy is proceeded in death by her husband; Alvin Leroy Howell, parents; Ross and Sheila Roudebush, Siblings; Glenna Woolery, Larry Roudebush, and Donna Noland.

She was very active in her church and treasured her church family. &nbsp;She married the love of her life, Alvin Leroy Howell on October 10, 1993, and were married for 7 adventure-filled years before he passed away.Besides spending time with her family and friends, Sandy had a passion for reading, solving puzzles, watching game shows, Nebraska Volleyball, keeping up with her kids and grandkids in various activities and keeping up with the community through Facebook. She was a proud grandma to 5-year-old Scarlett Ostblom.&nbsp; Deborah was so proud of Leah and Courtney and the love and friendship they shared. Gerald “Jerry” Milford Sundquist, 75, of Curtis, NE passed away on September 27, 2022 in Lincoln, NE.

Jerry was born February 26th , 1947 in Holdrege, NE to Milford and Bessie Sundquist. He was raised on a farm east of Huntley, NE and attended Huntley Schools. In 1968, Jerry graduated UNSTA with an associate degree in soil conservation and surveying. In the same year, he was wedded to his bride of 54 years, LaDonna Vreeland. To this union three children were born, Michelle, Michael and Jeremy. Upon completion of college, Jerry worked for the Nebraska Department of Roads as a surveyor on the project of the I-80 interstate, close to Sidney, Nebraska. After a year at the Department of Roads, Jerry was hired at his alma mater, UNSTA, where he taught soil and conservation, surveying, and computers. In 1998, Jerry earned his master’s degree in education from Kearney State College. During his tenure at UNSTA/NCTA he eventually became the Director of Instruction, Assistant Dean, and Interim Dean.&nbsp; During Jerry’s free time he enjoyed many activities. Some of these included camping and boating with his family at Johnson and Cambridge Lake. He also enjoyed grouse hunting trips with lifelong friends to the Sandhills. Jerry was an active participant in golf league at Arrowhead Meadows, serving as the secretary for many years. Another passion of Jerry’s was his involvement in Curtis Rotary Club, where he served as President for a term. Jerry took very much pride in his teaching and keeping up with his past students. During Jerry’s life, he spent much time with his family, which he loved the most.

Jeremy was born March 14, 1978 in North Platte, NE, to Jerry&nbsp;and LaDonna (Vreeland) Sundquist.&nbsp; He grew up in Curtis and attended Medicine Valley High School graduating in 1996.&nbsp; In 1998 he graduated from Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis, NE.&nbsp; After college he lived in Valley, NE; Tennessee, Texas and resided in Hubbard, NE until his passing. &nbsp; Jeremy married Cody Steckel on December 12th, 1998&nbsp;at Taylor, Nebraska. To this union, their son, Cole was born. They later divorced. &nbsp;

On March 17th, 2011 Gracie was born to Shey Strawder and Jeremy. Jeremy had a passion for&nbsp;agriculture, Nebraska football, religion, his career, rodeo, fishing, and golf.&nbsp; Jeremy worked in many industries throughout his life. These included insurance sales, real estate, railroad and as a Supervisor at IBP Meat packing plant. Survivors include his son, Cole Sundquist of Wellfleet;&nbsp;daughter, Gracie Sundquist of Wallace, NE ; his parents Jerry and LaDonna Sundquist of Curtis, Brother, &nbsp;Mike (Vickie) Sundquist of Lincoln; Sister, Michelle (Jim) Hackney of Firestone, CO; Nephew, Alec Hackney; Niece, Alise Hackney; Nephew, Tyler Sundquist; aunts and uncles and numerous cousins and extended family. Nellie J Ryan, age 86, of Indianola, NE passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Community Hospital in McCook, NE

One of eight children, Nellie was born on June 24, 1936 in Bartley, NE to parents, Frank and Johanna (Schutte) Sughroue.&nbsp; She attended school in Indianola where she also graduated high school in 1954.&nbsp;

On October 27, 1953, Nellie married the love of her life, James Joseph Ryan, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Indianola.&nbsp; Following James’ service in the United States Army, the couple made their home on the Ryan family farm north of Indianola. They were the proud parents of ten children.&nbsp; Nellie embraced her role as home maker and to her, being at home was like being in Heaven. &nbsp;She enjoyed baking, making crafts, sewing and creating homemade Christmas gifts for the Ryan Christmas weekend she anticipated each year. Mom reminded us daily that “we are so blessed”.&nbsp; She was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society.&nbsp;

Nellie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Ryan in 1988; two sons, Hank Ryan in 1976 and Roady Ryan in 1997; one granddaughter, Rebecca Peterson in 1988, five brothers; and two sisters.&nbsp;

Those left to cherish her memory include her three sons, Jack (Lisa) Ryan of Indianola, Vincent (Erin) Ryan of Chadron, NE and Herb (Elizabeth) Ryan of Indianola; five daughters, Bridget (Fred) Uhe of Papillion, NE, Kate (John) Peterson of Elwood, NE, Sophia (Rex) Hauxwell of Ralston, NE, JoHanna (Kerry) Scott of McCook and Maggie (Jesse) Mintken of Grand Island, NE; daughter in law, Peggy Rauch of Mohave Valley, AZ; sister in laws, Marge Sughroue of Omaha, NE, Jean Sughroue of Cambridge, NE, Sharon Deon of McCook and Mary (Vrbas) Sughroue of Culbertson; twenty eight grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren, with another one of the way; the first great great grandchild due in January; along with many extended family members.

&nbsp;Phillip Patrick Brown, Sr., was born on March 12, 1942 in Long Pine, Nebraska to Gerald Joseph and Margaret Evelyn (Glendenning) Brown.&nbsp; He was raised by his grandparents on the family farm and moved to McCook as a young man where he attended school.&nbsp; Phillip served in the United States Air Force and after receiving an honorable discharge he returned to Southwest Nebraska where he worked in manufacturing.&nbsp; He was a talented welder and owned his own cleaning business.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Phillip was united in marriage to Anna L. Sprenkle on June 15, 1962 and to this union three sons and one daughter were born: Phillip, Jr., Gerald, Francis, and Paula.&nbsp; The family attended Indianola Christian Church and the First Assembly of God Church in McCook.&nbsp; Phillip enjoyed reading, word searches, and cooking.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Phillip passed away at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home in Imperial, Nebraska early Tuesday morning, September 27, 2022.&nbsp; He was 80 years of age.

&nbsp; &nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Phillip Jr.; sister, Norma Sedam ; and a brother-in-law, Pete Meints. Survivors include his wife, Anna of Indianola; sons, Gerald Brown and Francis Brown of Lincoln, Nebraska; daughter, Paula Pearson of Oberlin, Kansas; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Geraldine Brown-Meints; brother, Gilbert (Joan) Brown; and many nieces and nephews.

Phillip P. Brown Sr. (1942-2022)

Bruce C. Fritz, 72, of North Platte, passed away September 9th, 2022 at his home.&nbsp; Bruce was born on August 12, 1950 in Great Falls, Montana to Donald R. and Dorothy M. (Jensen) Fritz.

Bruce attended several schools in Montana, as they moved a lot with his father’s job at Great Northern Railroad.&nbsp; Bruce graduated from Hogeland High School in June of 1968.&nbsp; He then attended University of Montana for one year.&nbsp; Bruce worked on farms and ranches throughout his high school days.&nbsp;

Bruce enlisted in the United States Navy in November of 1969 and this became his life career.&nbsp; He had two reasons for joining the Navy: the first being that his grandfather Chris Jensen was killed in WWII when his ship, the USS Indianapolis was sunk by a Japanese torpedo and the second reason was that he was intrigued by all the places the Navy went.&nbsp; When Bruce enlisted, he was assigned to Port Operations Department in Key West, Florida.&nbsp; He was assigned boat engineer of the Caribbean Forces.&nbsp; In 1972, Bruce transferred to the USS Orion in Charleston, South Carolina, while waiting for the formation of the PCU Mount Baker.&nbsp; In 1972, Bruce was deployed to the first “Med Cruise” on the USS Mount Baker.&nbsp; He served on the USS Howard W. Gilmore, USS Recovery, USS Harlan County, USS Papago, and the USS Typhoon.&nbsp; Bruce attended many schools during his Naval career.&nbsp; On September 1, 1997, Bruce retired from the Navy as a Chief Warrant Officer CWO-4, the highest rank an enlisted man could reach.

Bruce met Peggy Ann Pence and was united in marriage in July of 1979 in Cincinnati, Ohio.&nbsp; They enjoyed 33 years together until her passing on March 27th, 2012.&nbsp; Bruce grew up in rural Montana where he pursued his favorite hobbies of hunting and fishing which he continued to enjoy throughout his life.&nbsp; Bruce was an animal lover, especially Beagles.&nbsp; He loved and cared for several Beagles, most of them rescued from the Beagle Rescue of Virginia.&nbsp; Because of his love for animals, Bruce went on to become a veterinary tech for Paws Clinic in Virginia Beach.&nbsp; Gardening was another hobby Bruce enjoyed.&nbsp; He was a Master Gardener and he helped his wife Peggy with plant propagation.&nbsp;

Bruce leaves behind a son, Chris (Cindi) Alsobrook of Seattle, Washington; brothers, Byron (Diane) Fritz of North Platte, Paul (Sandy) Fritz of Great Falls, Montana; nieces, Dina (Landon) Smith of Great Falls, Montana, Marilyn Michaelson of Van Buren, Maine; nephew, Kyle (Michele) Fritz of Shelton, Washington; great niece, Madison Smith; special friend, Pat Porter; numerous other family members and many friends.&nbsp;

Bruce was preceded in death by wife, Peggy Fritz; daughter, Nichole Fritz; parents, Don and Dorothy Fritz.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 20th, 2022 at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, with Pastor Bob Deardoff officiating.&nbsp; Adams &amp; Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 </figure>Bruce C. Fritz, 72, of North Platte, passed away September 9th, 2022 at his home.&nbsp; Bruce was born on August 12, 1950 in Great Falls, Montana to Donald R. and Dorothy M. (Jensen) Fritz.Bruce attended several schools in Montana, as they moved a lot with his father’s job at Great Northern Railroad.&nbsp; Bruce graduated from Hogeland High School in June of 1968.&nbsp; He then attended University of Montana for one year.&nbsp; Bruce worked on farms and ranches throughout his high school days.&nbsp;Bruce enlisted in the United States Navy in November of 1969 and this became his life career.&nbsp; He had two reasons for joining the Navy: the first being that his grandfather Chris Jensen was killed in WWII when his ship, the USS Indianapolis was sunk by a Japanese torpedo and the second reason was that he was intrigued by all the places the Navy went.&nbsp; When Bruce enlisted, he was assigned to Port Operations Department in Key West, Florida.&nbsp; He was assigned boat engineer of the Caribbean Forces.&nbsp; In 1972, Bruce transferred to the USS Orion in Charleston, South Carolina, while waiting for the formation of the PCU Mount Baker.&nbsp; In 1972, Bruce was deployed to the first “Med Cruise” on the USS Mount Baker.&nbsp; He served on the USS Howard W. Gilmore, USS Recovery, USS Harlan County, USS Papago, and the USS Typhoon.&nbsp; Bruce attended many schools during his Naval career.&nbsp; On September 1, 1997, Bruce retired from the Navy as a Chief Warrant Officer CWO-4, the highest rank an enlisted man could reach.Bruce met Peggy Ann Pence and was united in marriage in July of 1979 in Cincinnati, Ohio.&nbsp; They enjoyed 33 years together until her passing on March 27th, 2012.&nbsp; Bruce grew up in rural Montana where he pursued his favorite hobbies of hunting and fishing which he continued to enjoy throughout his life.&nbsp; Bruce was an animal lover, especially Beagles.&nbsp; He loved and cared for several Beagles, most of them rescued from the Beagle Rescue of Virginia.&nbsp; Because of his love for animals, Bruce went on to become a veterinary tech for Paws Clinic in Virginia Beach.&nbsp; Gardening was another hobby Bruce enjoyed.&nbsp; He was a Master Gardener and he helped his wife Peggy with plant propagation.&nbsp;Bruce leaves behind a son, Chris (Cindi) Alsobrook of Seattle, Washington; brothers, Byron (Diane) Fritz of North Platte, Paul (Sandy) Fritz of Great Falls, Montana; nieces, Dina (Landon) Smith of Great Falls, Montana, Marilyn Michaelson of Van Buren, Maine; nephew, Kyle (Michele) Fritz of Shelton, Washington; great niece, Madison Smith; special friend, Pat Porter; numerous other family members and many friends.&nbsp;Bruce was preceded in death by wife, Peggy Fritz; daughter, Nichole Fritz; parents, Don and Dorothy Fritz.Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 20th, 2022 at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, with Pastor Bob Deardoff officiating.&nbsp; Adams &amp; Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was born June 20, 1935 in Seward, NE; daughter of Homer and Susan Belle (Moore) Gadeke. Suzanne spent most of her childhood and adult years in Eustis. On November 29, 1953 she married Max Bartruff and to this union four children were born: daughters Connie, Leann, Jodi, and son Kyle.| She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Eustis and the West Canyonetts Extension Club.&nbsp; Suzanne was a past 4-H leader, Bible School Teacher and custodian for the church and multiple businesses around town.&nbsp; She also enjoyed sewing and crafting, flowers, gardening, and walking.

Survivors include, Connie (Bill) Irwin of Pompano Beach, FL and their children Jared (Nicole) Easterday and Jennifer (Sergi Mansilla) Easterday; Leann (Mike) Karr of Hendersn, NV and their children Kelsey Karr, Jana (Jon) Miner and Matt (Lorin) Karr; Jodi (Scott) Rupe of Eustis and their children Calvin (Amber) Rupe and Joleen (Anson) Hueftle; son, Kyle (Kelly) Bartruff, of Eustis and their daughter Kenzie Bartruff; brother, Tex (Judy) Gadeke of Quincy, IL; and 15 great-grandchildren. Marlene J. Jorgensen, 85, of Gothenburg, died September 24, 2022 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, Nebraska.&nbsp; Marlene (Yonkers) Jorgensen was born in Hayes County, Nebraska to Anthony Benjamin Yonkers and Lucy Delia (Brownell) Yonkers on July 24, 1937.&nbsp; She spent her childhood growing up on a farm near Hayes Center, Ne and later the family resettled in the Maywood, Ne area. Marlene graduated from high school at the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis, Nebraska in May 1955.&nbsp; A year after graduation, on May 6, 1956, Marlene wed her high school sweetheart and life companion, Gerald F. Jorgensen, in Curtis, Nebraska.&nbsp; Marlene and Jerry made Gothenburg their lifelong home. This union was blessed with three children: Brad, Ross and Rana.&nbsp; Marlene kept busy raising their children and helping Jerry at his State Farm Insurance business at various times during Jerry’s 46-year career.&nbsp; Marlene was active in church helping with Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.&nbsp; In her later years, she helped in the Awana program at the Gothenburg Evangelical Free Church (Cornerstone Bible Church).&nbsp; She enjoyed church very much and the lifelong friendships it brought into her life.&nbsp; She enjoyed attending her children’s high school activities.&nbsp; Marlene was a lifelong Nebraska Cornhusker football fan attending games with Jerry during the Tom Osborne coaching years. Marlene was an active walker and enjoyed walking in the country and in town with friends. One of her other joys in life were her grandchildren. She enjoyed babysitting and playing “Numberland” and “Spinner” with them as well as attending cross country and trap shooting events. Marlene Jorgensen (1937-2022)

Kristen Lanae Nelson, age 53, of Curtis, formerly of Lexington, passed away Friday, September 23, 2022 at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney.

Kristen was born on June 4, 1969, in Lexington, Nebraska to Harley and Sharon (Jones) Nelson. She grew up in Elwood, Nebraska and graduated from Elwood High School with the class of 1987. Kristen would go on to study journalism for a year at Nebraska Wesleyan University before moving to Nashville, Tennessee. She spent ten years living in Nashville and working at Nashville Fan fair and for the Republican Party before moving back to Lexington, Nebraska. Once in Lexington, Kristen worked at Tri-County Hospital for five years before moving to Holbrook to start working for the Cambridge Hospital where she eventually retired due to her health. Kristen enjoyed knitting and absolutely loved her four dogs: Molly, Annie, Bella and Macy.

Kristen is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Stacey. Survivors include her aunts, Vickey (Frank) Koehn of Johnson Lake, Nebraska and Linda Jones of Elwood, Nebraska; her uncle Brad (Bernadette) Jones of Kearney, Nebraska as well as numerous cousins, extended family and friends.

Kristen Lanae Nelson (1969-2022)

&nbsp; Evelyn Marie (Rasmussen) Mitchell was born May 16, 1928, at the family farmhouse near Scandia, Kansas. In 1942, after finishing eighth grade, she began as a waitress at the Royal Café in Scandia to earn money to pay for room and board while she attended high school there. She graduated in 1946 and attended Burrows Machine School in Kansas City, after which she worked in the People’s National Bank in Concordia, KS. Evelyn married Dean Mitchell on August 30, 1948, at the Methodist parsonage in Belleville, KS, and in February 1950, she and Dean and baby girl, Cindy, moved to northeast Chase County to replace Dean’s uncle Earl Erkenbrach on the north Maddux Ranch as renters. In 1964, they purchased the Dude Rowley ranch plus adjoining ground and moved into Imperial with their now family of six. They purchased Babb’s Café in 1965, moving it to 527 Broadway. Evelyn ran the day-to-day operations of the restaurant as well as the household and four kids. Dean drove to farm during the day and joined Evelyn at night to help out. The whole family was involved in many ways. They sold the restaurant in 1970 and Evelyn continued being active in community volunteering and working at the Unicorn Boutique for a time. She also helped Marcy in many capacities at M&amp;M Natural Jaz for the 28 years in business (1994-2022). Evelyn was a member of the United Methodist Church and funeral dinner director for 37 years. She joined many organizations including Lions Club, receiving several awards and was a Melvin Jones Fellow. She also continued in her Extension Club and the card club they joined in 1950. Evelyn was active in the Methodist Women’s Circle, worked as a Census enumerator, on the counting board on election days and greatly enjoyed representing Imperial as 1st Lady from 1986 to 2002 while Dean was mayor. They traveled throughout the state promoting our community with the League of Municipalities and Economic Development committees. Evelyn was a crafter, seamstress and enjoyed counted cross stitch as well as fishing, crossword puzzles, garage sales and bargain shopping. She and Dean had many adventures traveling internationally through seed corn companies he represented. Evelyn passed away Friday evening, September 23, 2022, at her home in Imperial. She was 94 years of age. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Dean Mitchell; parents Ralph and Opal Rasmussen; brother Ralph Rasmussen, Jr. and wife Betty; nephews Craig and David Rasmussen; sister Claudia Kay Miller and husband Bobby Miller; and niece Julie Newton. Ted John Herrick, age 92 of North Platte passed away on September 25, 2022 at Great Plains Health.&nbsp; He was born December 7, 1929 to J Lee Herrick and Jerusha Daisy Mae (Abel) Herrick in Moorefield, Nebraska.&nbsp;

He married Lulu Mae (Owens) Herrick on August 14, 1949 in McCook, Nebraska.&nbsp; They moved to North Platte in 1951 where they lived the rest of their lives. When we remember our father, grandfather, and friend we remember how hard he worked.&nbsp; Ted loved driving the bread truck for Old Home bread and quickly worked his way up to regional sales manager.&nbsp; On Saturday mornings, Ted enjoyed taking the grandkids to the bread warehouse letting them pick out whatever they wanted.&nbsp; He treasured his time with them and always made them feel loved.&nbsp; Ted was always looking for a new business venture.&nbsp; After his retirement, he operated Nebraska Bull Service with brother Norman Herrick and their late brother Lynn Herrick and&nbsp;Ted's late wife Lulu Mae did the bookwork.&nbsp; The three brothers went on to do many construction jobs in North Platte and became local celebrities as "the 3 old men that build houses."&nbsp; Ted and his daughter Sandy went into business together with they started Home Instead Senior Care in North Platte in 2000. Ted was a kind, caring man and the definition of what it looks like to live like Jesus.&nbsp; He helped countless people and never once asked them about their past or judged them for it.&nbsp; Even at 92 years old he was still finding ways to help people.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Now Ted is reunited with the love of his life Lulu Mae&nbsp;in Heaven where we know he is back to playing silly tricks on her.&nbsp; He will also be reunited with their beloved daughter Linda Smith and enjoying listening to her play the piano only this time in the Lord's orchestra.&nbsp; He is survived by his daughter Sandy (Ken) Masters; son-in-law, Brent (Robin) Smith; brother, Norman (Betty) Herrick; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.&nbsp;

&nbsp; Deborah McConnell, age 51, of North Platte, passed away at Great Plains Health on September 26, 2022, following health complications. Sylvan “Swede” Roberts, 82, passed away on September 25, 2022. Swede was born on February 18, 1940 to Clarence “Shorty” and Silvia “Sid” (Cane) Roberts in Prosser, Nebraska. In 1958, he served in Company C, 11th Battle Group, 3rd Brigade in the US Army as a Tank Operator, stationed in several locations including Germany. In 1961, he returned to Washington, then settling in Nebraska soon thereafter. In 1963, Swede married Velda (Tammen) and had three children: Shannon, Ronda, and Shona. In 1979, Swede married Mary (Davies) and had two children, Shaylla and Sylvan. In 1986, Swede entered into a relationship with Vera Daleness and the two of them cared for Vera’s children, Finley, Fenton, Averelle, and Dellarae. Swede made his living as a truck driver, retiring from Justa Trucking in 2015.&nbsp; Proud of his Irish heritage, Swede was known to enjoy an occasional finger or two of Jameson Whiskey and a green beer on St. Patrick’s Day. Never meeting a stranger, Swede had a passion for people and took pride in developing friendships with those he encountered, especially James Zeleski and Dougie Niederdeppe. Swede was often quoted with saying he “Never felt better and had less”. He loved his family, fishing, and watching sports. His favorite teams included the Huskers, Dodgers, Vikings, Lakers, and Red Wings. Swede was preceded in death by his parents; Clarence and Silvia Roberts; brother; Harvey Roberts, daughter; Shona Roberts; significant other; Vera Daleness, and her two children, Averelle Daleness and Finley Daleness. &nbsp; Jerry Eugene Taylor, 80 of Gering, Nebraska passed away Sunday, September 18, 2022, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. His memorial graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at noon at the Pleasant View (Crete) Cemetery, Champion, Nebraska with Rev Matt Maxwell. Jerry was born on August 31, 1942, in Holyoke, Colorado to Merle and Marie (Smith) Taylor and received his early education in the Chase County and graduating from Imperial High School and graduated from Chadron State College in 1972. After graduation, Jerry was hired from the State of Nebraska for a short time to inspect restaurants in 11 counties in Northwest Nebraska Government. He worked as Director of Scotts Bluff County Health Department before moving to Colorado to work for the Department of Defense at Ft. Carson, Colorado for 23 years, retiring in 2008. Jerry married Donna Matson on November 18, 1964, in Sterling, Colorado and made their home Colorado Springs, Colorado for many years before moving back to Scottsbluff in 2021. Jerry became a Boy Scout and earned his Eagle Scout Badge and became a Boy Scout Leader for many years. Fishing and hunting were his first love; spending many hours at Lake Ogallala camping and boating. He received a Master Angler award several times for many different kinds of fish. Jerry was President of a Seven State Mosquito and Vector Control Agency for several years. He started the Mosquito fish control in the swampy areas around Scotts Bluff County. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fountain, Colorado. Friends and family will miss his smile and dry sense of humor and most of all his fishing stories. &nbsp; GEORGE "AL" WALTERS, 90, of Paxton, passed away September 22, 2022, at his home. George was born August 27, 1932, at Seminary, Mississippi, to Drew Edward and Ora Ada (Moulds) Walters. George served in the Army National Guard and was called into active duty service during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home to Mississippi and married Grace L. Hall on January 9, 1957, at Covington, Mississippi. George drove a truck for several years and had also worked on a tugboat during his time in Mississippi. The family eventually moved to Denver, where George worked in construction for many years building homes, town homes, nursing homes and on bridge crews. He traveled a lot to support his family doing these jobs. In 1975, he also helped in the building of Gerald Gentleman Station until it was finished. He ultimately started work with the Hershey School system as their janitor and later Paxton Schools. George ended his working career as the janitor of the Post Office in Paxton. George loved to fish. He also took great pride in his gardens over the years. George cherished his family, especially the time he spent with his grandchildren. He enjoyed telling stories about his childhood. He had songs he would sing anytime anyone he knew came around and one of those was the 1st verse of Thompson's old grey mule. George was preceded in death by his grandson, Chris Burmood; his parents; a twin brother, Jessie, along with siblings Marlin, LD, AV, Ervin, Evon, Ferd, Herbert, and Willie. Survivors include his wife, Grace of Paxton; children, Pat (Ed) Colson, Brenda (Ed) Burmood, Darrold Walters, Dewayne Walters, Leila Walters, and Dana (Brian) Cassell; 17 grandchildren; along with numerous great-grandchildren. George Walters (1932-2022)

Eddy Rosencutter, age 85, of North Platte, passed away September 25, 2022, at Great Plains Health. He was born in Manhattan, KS, on September 15, 1937, to Albert 'Hap' and Minnie Clark Rosencutter.&nbsp; The family moved to North Platte in 1939 where Eddy grew up and graduated from North Platte High School in 1955. On June 8, 1957, Eddy married Wanda Arlene Dickenson at North Platte where they made their home and raised three sons.&nbsp; Eddy first worked for Central Nebraska Packing as a Maintenance Electrician then hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad in 1961 as an Electrician and worked various jobs in the Mechanical and Transportation Departments.&nbsp; He retired from there in 1997 due to health complications. Eddy was a member of Eagles Aires #2839, a 40 year Master Mason with Platte Valley Lodge #32 AF &amp; AM, a member of the Elks Club for over 30 years and a retired life member of the United Transportation Union.&nbsp; He loved Nebraska outdoor activities, fishing, hunting and gardening were his favorites.&nbsp; Eddy also enjoyed socializing with friends and attending dances with the love of his life, Wanda. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hap and Louise Rosencutter; and infant daughter, Brenda. Eddy is survived by his wife of 65 years, Wanda; sons, Mitch (Paula) Rosencutter of Omaha, Mark (Valerie) Rosencutter of Papillion and Daniel (Roxanne) Rosencutter, of Lemoyne, NE; granddaughters, Hanna and Morgan Rosencutter; as well as other family. Graveside service will be 11 a.m., Friday, September 30, 2022, in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.&nbsp; Cremation was chosen. Eddy Rosencutter (1937-2022)

On September 25, 2022, at the age of 97, longtime resident of North Platte, NE, Lily Hild slipped into eternity on what would have been her 78th wedding anniversary to her husband Roy, who died earlier this year in January.

Lily, the fourth of six children born to Harry and Gerda Lavine, was born March 30, 1925, in North Platte where she was raised. Her father was employed as a service station and fuel distributor as well as a construction contractor in concrete and carpentry. Leaving high school a year early in 1942, Lily moved to Chicago to live with her two sisters (who had moved there to work) and was employed at the Autopoint Pencil Factory. After returning to North Platte in 1944 Lily met the love of her life, Roy Hild, at a dance at Jeffers Pavilion. The couple wed on September 25, 1944, while Roy was serving as a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Force. When Roy was shipped out to serve in the Pacific Theater during W.W.II, Lily worked at Montgomery Ward. Upon Roy's return at the conclusion of the war, he and Lily briefly lived in Brady, NE, then settled in North Platte when he began working for Pearson Appliance, Inc. In 1946, their son Kurt was born followed by Kent in 1950. Roy left Pearson's in 1955 and established Hild Service Company. Lily was principally engaged as secretary as she worked with Roy and continued that role when Roy entered the propane business. She remained involved as the principal office person until the office of Hild Propane, Inc., was moved to its current location on North Jeffers. Lily is a long-time member and last surviving charter member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She attended the Lutheran School, being confirmed after 8th grade, and remained there until she was no longer able to attend. She taught Sunday school, served in choir and women's ministry, and supported various outreach emphases of the church. One of the greatest joys of Lily's life was her grandchildren and great-granddaughters.

She is survived by her son, Kurt (Tamara) of Santa Clarita, CA, and grandson Andrew Hild of San Diego, CA; son, Kent of North Platte, and former daughter-in-law, JoDee Hild of Wallace, granddaughter Katelynn (Kyle) Clough of Wallace, and two great-granddaughters, Kollins, and Kaizley Clough of Wallace; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her beloved Roy, Lily was preceded in death by her parents, Harry, Sr. and Gerda Lavine; all her siblings, Erik, Gertrude, Mary, Harry, Jr., and Ruth Lavine; and sisters-in-law, Gerrie Lavine and Betty Lavine.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, September 29, 2022, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the church or donor's choice. Lily Hild (1925-2022)

Joann Still, age 73, of Anselmo died Friday, September 23, 2022, at the Custer Care Center in Broken Bow.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday September 28, 2022, at 10:30 AM at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with Rick Eldred officiating.&nbsp; Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery. A light meal after the burial will be served at the Church of Christ with time for family and friends to share memories of Joann’s life.&nbsp; In lieu of flowers, she requests that memorials be given to The Community Connection, The Food Bank or Custer Care. &nbsp;A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary with the family greeting friends 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Joann Lucille Still was born April 10th, 1949, to Earl and Erma (Pracht) Douglass in Broken Bow, NE.&nbsp; Joann grew up in the Happy Hallow area south of Berwyn before moving to the family ranch east of Anselmo, NE.&nbsp; During her youth Joann was active in 4-H, speaking often of her Hereford cattle, sewing and cooking projects and the lifelong friendships she made in Junior Leaders.&nbsp; Joann graduated high school from Anselmo – Merna in 1967.&nbsp; Joann married Richard (Rick) Charles Still on February 14, 1971, in Anselmo.&nbsp; Joann worked as a teller at Custer Federal, drove a school bus for Anselmo-Merna Public Schools and spent 35 years working at Becton-Dickinson.&nbsp; She was always quick to help anyone in need and truly loved helping others. She was instrumental in establishing a breast cancer support group in Custer County and organized multiple Breast Cancer Walks.&nbsp; After retirement she volunteered at the Community Connection, the Food Bank and spent countless hours with residents of Off Broadway Assisted Living.&nbsp; She was a very talented seamstress, sewing clothing for her family, doing alterations for others and in later years quilting.&nbsp; Even while enduring breast cancer and kidney issues she always had a smile on her face and was quick to help others.&nbsp;&nbsp; She was a very talented musician playing the piano for several years at church and had a beautiful singing voice.&nbsp; She loved to listen and sing all types of gospel music. She passed from this earthly life into the arms of her lord and savior while surrounded by family at Custer Care on September 23rd,2022.&nbsp;

Joann was welcomed into heaven by her husband; Rick, parents; Earl and Erma Douglass, in laws; Willard &amp; Lorraine Still, infant sister Dotty Kay, granddaughter Mayble A Still, and great granddaughter Eden A Eggleston.&nbsp; Left behind to continue her earthly work are her children; Richard Still Jr and wife Brenda of Oconto, Ann Smith and fiancé Kenneth Cook of Wills Point, Texas, Douglass Still and wife Amber of Cheyenne, WY.&nbsp; Grandchildren: Rebecca and Wyatt Eggleston, Marshall and Mykelsi Still, Ethan Still and fiancé Alicia Carpenter, McKayla and Patrick OTeney, Haley Conley, and special friend William Schoenfeld.&nbsp; Great Grand Daughters; Esmae and Etta Eggleston and Chloe OTeney and Brother; Dana Douglass of Omaha and her best friends Doris Cole and Andie Schmidt along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews.&nbsp;

Joann lived her life to the fullest with a strong relationship with God.&nbsp;&nbsp; She professed her love in Jesus Christ and lived each day doing God’s work.&nbsp; She always had a frog pin or charm that served as her daily reminder to&nbsp;Fully&nbsp;Rely&nbsp;On&nbsp;God.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; She was incredibly proud of her 3 kids, 5 grand kids and 3 great granddaughters and was always quick to show off pictures of them or tell of their latest accomplishments.&nbsp;
