Allen Martin Fickenscher, 93, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died July 17, 2022 at Stone Hearth Estates in Gothenburg Nebraska.

He was born October 27, 1928 in Brady, NE, son of Martin and Marie (Thorell) Fickenscher. He was a member of United Methodist Church.&nbsp; Allen married L. Maxine Atkinson on March 21, 1953 at Brady, NE and to this union three children were born - Nancy, Tim and Tom.&nbsp; The family made their home in Brady and then Gothenburg. He was self-employed as a carpenter, and built many homes in the surrounding area. He enjoyed&nbsp; wood working, turning bowls on the lathe, the outdoors, trees, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include two sons, Tom ( Cindy) Fickenscher of Gothenburg, NE, Tim (Carol Windrum) Fickenscher of Omaha, NE; daughter, Nancy (John) Gerrard of Lincoln, NE; seven grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren; one brother, Gayland Fickenscher of AZ.&nbsp; Allen was preceded in death by wife, Lois "Maxine" Fickenscher, father, Martin Fickenscher, mother, Marie Fickenscher, sister, Marlene Feddersen, and brother Irvin Stanard.

Graveside services will be held at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, July 26, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Allen M Fickenscher (1928-2022)

Anna Mae (Bartak) Andrews, of Kearney, NE, formerly of North Platte, is dancing again with her husband, Howard. Anna Mae peacefully passed away on July 16, 2022, at Mother Hull Home in Kearney at the age of 101.

Anna Mae was born September 16, 1920, on a farm in Wheeler County, south of Ewing, NE, to Charles J. and Agnes B. (Krajicek) Bartak. Anna Mae graduated from Wheeler County High School in 1937 as valedictorian of her class. She received a scholarship and attended Wayne State Teachers College and taught school in Wheeler County for three years. On January 26, 1941, she married Howard L. Andrews at Bartlett, NE. They lived in St. Peter, MN, and Snohomish, WA, until July of 1944 when Howard entered the military service. Anna Mae and her two children, Larry and Suzanne, then returned to Ewing to live with her parents until her husband's return from overseas. In 1947, the family moved to North Platte. Anna Mae acted as bookkeeper for her husband's business, Petroleum Construction Company and began her own personal career as a Beauty Counselor with Vanda Beauty Cosmetics in 1959. Earning numerous awards and accolades over the years, Anna Mae moved upward in management with the cosmetics company and ended her career as a Division Manager. After residing in North Platte for 60 years, Howard and Anna Mae moved to Kearney where they lived together until his death in 2012. She continued to live in Kearney for the remainder of her life. Anna Mae was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was Past President of Social Order of the Beauceant (SOOB) Assembly #177, past Supreme Aide of SOOB, and twice Past President of the North Platte Shrine Auxiliary. She was a member and officer of the Order of Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile Drill Team. Anna Mae was also a member of the Eagles Auxiliary and the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Does and had a lifetime membership in the American Legion Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. In addition, she won numerous awards for many hours of volunteer work for Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). Anna Mae enjoyed all kinds of needlework, especially crocheting, and crocheted afghans for all her children and grandchildren. She also loved playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, reading, dancing and more dancing, gardening and fishing. In fact, she earned Master Angler status when she caught a 10 pound walleye! But most of all, she loved spending time with her family at home or at their cabin on Lake Maloney. Always smiling, she had a great sense of humor and loved little kids of all ages! Possessing a strong work ethic, she was full of energy, and one could very often hear her singing or whistling while she worked. She quoted her own father saying, "Any job worth doing is worth doing well."

She is survived by her son, Larry Andrews (wife, Doris) of Elkhorn; her daughter, Suzanne Petersen (husband, James) of Kearney; grandchildren, Kurt Andrews, Mark Andrews, Todd Andrews (wife Lara), Scott Petersen (wife Caroline), Kimberley Petersen Burr (husband, Jeff), Emily Andrews Sass (husband, Tim) and Christina Brink; great-grandchildren, Lance Rall (wife, Adrienne), Logan Rall (wife, Theresa), Richard Andrews, Wilder and Crew Andrews, Erin Burr, Maggie Andrews, Libby and Meagan Petersen and Mariela, Adelyn and Colette Sass; great great-grandchildren, Jack and Sage Rall, Lia, Aidan and Declan Rall; and other family. Anna Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; her parents; infant sister and sisters, Eleanor (Vance) Bennett, Rose (Ed) Rethwisch, Mildred (Keith) Hockett, Elsie Knowles and Sylvia (Wayne) Mignery; brothers, Elvin Bartak, Adolph Bartak, Charles R. Bartak (Bud) and Louis Bartak; and grandson-in-law Stephen J. Rall.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2022, at First United Methodist Church in North Platte. Burial will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Stephen "Steve" Clark (1950-2022)

Karen Ann Nance, age 73, of North Platte, died July 14, 2022 at the North Platte Care Center.&nbsp; She was born on August 9, 1948 in Ainsworth, NE to Joseph and Bonnie (Keys) Giles. She joined her sister, Jo Lynn, at the Huffman place near Elsmere.&nbsp; Later, her brother Mike, and sisters, Marcia and Erin, completed the family. Karen went to grade school at Elsmere, moving to Ainsworth at the beginning of 5th&nbsp;grade, graduating from Ainsworth High School in 1966. &nbsp;She attended Chadron State College for 3 years, then finished her education at Bryan Hospital in Lincoln, graduating in 1970 with her Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology.&nbsp; After graduation, she worked at Lincoln General and Bryan Memorial hospitals.&nbsp; Karen moved to Gothenburg to work at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital where she worked for the next 20 years.&nbsp; She then moved and worked in the North Platte hospital for over 20 years, until her retirement. Karen married Jerry Nance in Las Vegas, NV in 1977.&nbsp; When she had time off, she traveled with him in his semi truck all over the United States, including New York City.&nbsp; She enjoyed many other travels throughout her life as well, including trips to Hawaii, Prince Edward Island, and Great Britain. Karen was a member of the First United Methodist Church in North Platte and devoted her time there to many activities, including the Prayer Shawl group. Karen was an amazing aunt, always buying awesome presents, coming to every birthday celebration, and hosting nieces and nephews each summer at her house.&nbsp; No summer was complete without a trip to the Fort, the swimming pool, Cody Park, the children’s museum, the Mall, the movie theatre, and countless places to eat.&nbsp; Every time the kids returned home, they were full of stories about the marvelous times at Aunt Karen’s. Karen had many talents, including cooking and baking, and she often shared her treats with others.&nbsp; She enjoyed oil painting and completed many beautiful landscapes.&nbsp; She could crochet and knit absolutely anything, and made hundreds of beautiful sweaters, afghans, baby outfits, etc… over the years.&nbsp; She was amazing at playing games and no one wanted to compete against her.&nbsp; She knew a song for every occasion, a talent that baffled some of her family.&nbsp; She planned sister trips for many years and made sure holidays were special.&nbsp; Most important of all, Karen was a lot of fun!&nbsp; She was always up for whatever anyone wanted to do, and it usually involved a lot of laughing. She is survived by 3 sisters, Jo McCoy of Ainsworth, Marcia (Rod) Speck of Gothenburg, Erin (Terry) Allen of Ainsworth; nieces and nephews, Roxy Schow and her children, August and Ruby of Paxton, James (Mandy) McCoy of Ainsworth, Scott Speck of Kearney, Adam Speck of Valentine, Nathaniel (Leah) Allen of Lincoln, Lydia Allen of Ainsworth, Benjamin Allen of Wayne, and Gabriel Allen of Ainsworth; uncle and aunt, Ted and Marlea Keys of Elsmere, aunt Ruth Sullivan of Broken Bow and many other family members and friends. &nbsp;She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother Mike Giles, her brother-in-law, Roger McCoy; nephew Korey Schow; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Shirlee Nance.&nbsp; Condolences may be left and live recording of the service will be at adamsswanson.com.&nbsp; A memorial has been established in her name.

Karen Ann Nance (1948-2022)

LaVerne (Vernie) Alvin Reagle, was born in Valentine, Nebraska, on February 20, 1945, to Alvin and Velna (Mizner) Reagle and passed away on July 15, 2022, at Parkside Manor in Stuart, Nebraska.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Vernie married Judy (Larsen) and to this union three children were born: Kim, Kelli and Michael. After graduating from Valentine High School in 1963, Vernie worked with his father at Reagle Feed and Seed and drove truck for many years.&nbsp; He later worked for Bankers Life and Casualty and Farm Bureau selling insurance.&nbsp; Vernie loved baseball and had the opportunity to drive the bus for the Rapid City American Regional Baseball team.&nbsp; &nbsp;After retirement, he drove the school bus in Rapid City, South Dakota, until he was unable to due to Alzheimer’s.&nbsp; Vernie was an avid Nebraska football fan and was a member of the Nebraska Beef Club and held season tickets for many years.&nbsp; His other passions were riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, playing cards, golfing, and bowling. Vernie had the gift of gab and never knew a stranger.&nbsp;

Vernie is survived by his three children, Kim (Dan) Epke of Valentine, Kelli (Dan) Springer of Riverside, IA and Michael (Jill) Reagle of Garden City, KS, six grandchildren Danielle (Eric) Wackler, Melinda (Kirk) Schlueter, Kendra (Bryce) Gretten, Katie (Lexi) Springer, Grace Reagle and Kaleb Reagle, seven great grandchildren, (Rylee, Parker and Cameron Wackler. Svea and Kayslee Schlueter, Alarik and Aphaea Gretten), a sister, Arlene (Tim) Murphy of Arizona and a brother, Eldon (Deb) Reagle of Valentine and a host of nieces and one nephew.

Carrie Anne Simmerman, 45, of North Platte, passed away July 13, 2022 at Azria Health in Sutherland.&nbsp; She was born on January 27, 1977 to Marvin and Donna (Bickett) Eide in Mitchell, SD. Carrie grew up in North Platte and attended North Platte High School.&nbsp; She also attended Mid-Plains Community College where she received an associate degree.&nbsp; Carrie worked as a home health care aide for several years.&nbsp; She had a passion for caring for people who struggled with disabilities.&nbsp; She loved the outdoors and very much enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. Carrie was a bright spirit and made the most out of life while she could.

Surviving her are three children, Dalton Simmerman of Colorado Springs, CO, Alexandria “Alex” Simmerman of Ogallala, Shane Simmerman of Ogallala; brothers, Travis (Paula) Eide of Grand Island, Jay (Angela) Eide of Colorado Springs, CO; sister, Laura Dilley of Omaha; several nieces, nephews and other family members. Preceding her in death were her parents, Marvin and Donna; grandparents.

John Max Herhahn, 80, of Plum Creek Canyon, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, July 12, 2022. John was born on July 27, 1941, to parents Frank and Amy (Peeks) Herhahn in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He attended public schools in Scottsbluff and graduated from Scottsbluff High School with the class of 1959. Following graduation, John started working for Amoco Oil which was an American chemical and oil company as a salesman selling chemical products. John was united in marriage to Nancy Best on November 24, 1967 in Holdrege, NE. Two children were blessed to this union: John B. and Amy. The family made their home in several locations while John worked for Amoco. They lived in Denver, Colorado; Twin Falls, Idaho; Kansas City, Missouri; and Red Oak, Iowa before spending twenty plus years in Chicago, Illinois. John retired in 1995, and John and Nancy moved to San Diego, California before settling at Plum Creek Canyon in 2004. John had many passions over the years, including traveling, fishing, camping and growing orchids. While living in San Diego, John took a ceramic/pottery course at the University of San Diego. John enjoyed working with his hands and made beautiful pieces, which are on display throughout the home.

Left to celebrate his life, his wife, Nancy of Plum Creek Canyon; his children, John B. (Sarah) Herhahn of Benzonia, Michigan and Amy (Kevin) Thompson of Kearney; two grandsons, Lucas &amp; Alex of Kearney; one brother, Frank (Karen) Herhahn of Bloomington, Indiana and a sister-in-law, Betty Sayers of Holdrege; as well as extended family and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents.

There will be no visitation, as the family is honoring John’s wish for cremation. A Memorial Graveside Service will be held on Friday, July 29, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege, Nebraska.

John Max Herhahn (1941-2022)

&nbsp; On July 13, 2022, the world lost a loving, kind, and generous wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and best friend. Charlene Ann Beers was born July 8, 1948, in Ogallala, Nebraska, the youngest of three children born to Peter Beers and Florence (Corneal) Beers. Charlene attended Ogallala Public Schools through high school. She met her future husband, Leslie Gerold, one evening in Ogallala, Nebraska. They were united in marriage on June 3, 1966, in Ovid, Colorado. Their union was blessed with three children: Troy, Christine, and Robert Gerold. Charlene was a stay-at-home mom until her youngest child, Robert, started kindergarten. At that time, she became employed by ESU #16 in Ogallala as a cook. Charlene had a kind and caring soul and loved working with children with disabilities. She taught many of them how to bake cookies and cakes. To her students, she was fondly known through the years as Ms. Gerold, My Cook, and The Boss. When ESU 16 transitioned children to public school in the mid-1990s, she began working as a para-educator. She started this facet of her career with kindergarten students. Years later, she transitioned to the high school. There she assisted students who were learning to work in the community and transported others to their job sites. She retired in 2005. Charlene had a particular student with special needs, Jamie Dickenson, for whom she lovingly cared for several years. She volunteered through the RSVP to greet visitors at the Mansion on the Hill for a couple of summers. Charlene had many interests and possessed a green thumb. She loved her flowers and gardening. She was an animal lover and had many pets throughout her life. In addition to cats and dogs, she raised ducks, bunnies, and a chicken she called Chicken Little. Her greatest joy in life was caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who loved being with her. She was a talented baker and greatly enjoyed providing them with special treats. Charlene resided in Ogallala, NE, her entire life until her health seriously declined. When it became apparent that she would no longer be able to care for herself, her daughter Chris and husband John Vian opened up their home in Brule, NE, and made her feel it was hers. While being cared for by her daughter and family, she enjoyed having the time and freedom to view the wildlife and the beauty of the hills surrounding their home. Charlene is survived by her husband of 56 years, Leslie Gerold; her children, Christine (John) Vian, and Robert (Ginger) Gerold. Her grandchildren; Miciah Clay, Jackie Gentle, Micheal(Miki) Vian, Amber(Tyler) Myers, Keeghan Gerold, Tucker Gerold, and Jadyn Gerold. Her great-grandchildren; Lilly, Elise, Zahneiah, Tobias, and Xakaryah Gentle, Emerald and Amethyst Myers, Caiden Gerold, and Maximus Vian. And her very special lifelong best friend, Stephanie Hansen. She also has a bonus family that she has "adopted"; Casey Rodriguez and his girls, Jazzmarie, Addisyn, and Delanie. Plus, special friend and neighbor, Mike Sweet. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings Beverly and Wayne, and son, Troy. Charlene's wish was to be cremated and not have a funeral or visitation. There will be a small get-together of friends and family at a later date. Charlene would wish that any memorial donations be made to benefit disabled children. Devona J. Gilliland Sellers, 86, former resident of Curtis, NE passed away peacefully on July 15, 2022 at the Wilber Care Center in Wilber, NE. Devona Joyce was born March 23, 1936 near Maywood, NE to Harry Hazel and Hetty Blanch Doyle Gilliland.&nbsp; She grew up on the family homestead on Brushy Creek near Maywood, NE.&nbsp; She attended UNSTA, University of Nebraska School of Agriculture, class of 1954, at Curtis, NE, where she was cheerleader and rodeo queen at UNSTA.&nbsp; She met her husband Stanley W. Sellers while attending school there, and they were married on May 28, 1954 at Castle Air Force Base, Atwater, California.&nbsp; To this union was born a daughter Renee.&nbsp; While living in California she worked at JC Penney and was in training to be a clothing buyer for Penney’s.&nbsp; Soon after they returned to Nebraska and farmed in Hayes County, where Mom volunteered as a Girl Scout and 4H leader.&nbsp; She loved to cook and try new recipes.&nbsp; Her grandkids loved her mashed potatoes and never left hungry.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Those left to cherish Devona’s memory are daughter, Renee (Mark) Lehmkuhl, of Crete; granddaughters, Lisa (Jesse) Dawes, of Dorchester, Laura Morey, of Wilber, Rachel Lehmkuhl, of Alliance; grandsons, David Lehmkuhl, of Anaheim, CA , Daniel Lehmkuhl, of Nashville, TN; great-grandsons, Troy, Shane, Tucker, and Kingston; and several nieces and nephews.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel and Blanch; husband, Stanley Wayne Sellers; granddaughter, Rebecca Lehmkuhl; sister, Donna (Dale) Hazen;&nbsp; in-laws, Lois (Loren) Hall, Vernon (Shirley) Sellers, Harrison (Marion) Sellers, Erceil (Vera) Sellers, Lawrence (Esther) Sellers, and Donna (Orval) Coykendall.

Devona J Sellers (1936-2022)

&nbsp; Joseph 'Joe' Pigotti Jr., age 93, formerly of Bridgeport, Nebraska, passed away July 14, 2022, at his cottage in North Platte. Joe was born October 30,1928, to Inez (Hedin) and Joseph Pigotti Sr. at their home south of Broadwater. Joe graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1947 then began working on the Peterson Ranch east of Angora. On September 13, 1953, Joe married Donna McMann and the couple started their lives together on what was known as the Peer Place. In 1954, Joe enlisted into the U.S. Army and served active duty until June of 1956. During this time the couple welcomed Jodine in February of 1955. Joe then returned home June of 1956 and continued working on the ranch. In March of 1957, Joe and Donna welcomed Dan and then in January of 1962, Kay was born. Joe was honorably discharged from the Army in May of 1956 and continued to work on the ranch, raise his family and build up his cattle herd. In May of 1988 Joe and Donna bought their farm 6 miles east of Bridgeport and continued to farm &amp; ranch until October of 2020 when they moved to North Platte to be closer to family. Joe was proceeded in death by his wife, Donna; his parents, Inez and Joseph Pigotti Sr.; in-laws, Mary and Harold Glarum; and sisters, Lucille (Angelo) Monsoldo, Rose (Bernie) Behan, Cecelia (John) Sommers and LaVerne (Kenneth) Burd. He is survived by his children, Jodine (Jack) Arensdorf of Sutherland, Dan Pigotti of Lakeway, TX, and Kay (Doug) Wright of North Platte; sister-in-law, Shirley Shepherd of Bay Town, TX; grandchildren, Tonia (Luke) McConnell of Hershey, Shawn (Starla) Arensdorf of North Platte, Kimberly (Troy) Connick of Paxton, Kaitlyn (Alex) Arthur and Brandi (Shawn) Jording of North Platte, Erin Wright (fiancé, AJ Kloss) of Manhattan, KS, and step-grandson Mike Arensdorf of Big Springs; as well as 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Joseph "Joe" Pigotti Jr. (1928-2022)

Terry R. Loose, age 75, passed away at Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri on July 5, 2022. Terry was born on October 1, 1946 to Riney and Eileen (Lehl)&nbsp;Loose.&nbsp; He attended and graduated from McCook High School with class of 1964. He then attended and graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1968. He married Cheryl Artz on February 21, 1970 and remained married for 52 years. He was an avid reader, and baseball was his passion. In retirement he worked as a Lancer selling season tickets for the Kansas City Royals. He was awarded a World Series ring. Preceded in death by parents Riney and Eileen Loose; brother Randy Loose; and brother-in-law, Terry Rouse. He is survived by his wife Cheryl; son Greg and wife Julie Loose, and their sons Fuller and Charlie; daughter Erica Amos and husband Mark Amos, and their daughters Kendra and Kara; also surviving is a sister, Kim Rouse.

Terry was born on October 1, 1946 to Riney and Eileen (Lehl)&nbsp;Loose.&nbsp; He attended and graduated from McCook High School with class of 1964. He then attended and graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1968. He married Cheryl Artz on February 21, 1970 and remained married for 52 years. He was an avid reader, and baseball was his passion. In retirement he worked as a Lancer selling season tickets for the Kansas City Royals. He was awarded a World Series ring. Preceded in death by parents Riney and Eileen Loose; brother Randy Loose; and brother-in-law, Terry Rouse. He is survived by his wife Cheryl; son Greg and wife Julie Loose, and their sons Fuller and Charlie; daughter Erica Amos and husband Mark Amos, and their daughters Kendra and Kara; also surviving is a sister, Kim Rouse.

&nbsp; Capitola Irene (Grimes) Kelley was born to Clyde Raymond and Mary Irene (Taylor) Grimes at home on October 13, 1922. She was the second of seven children, having two sisters: Lila and Marie, and four brothers: Dennis, Milton (Buck), Robert (Bob) and Eldon. Cap grew up in the Best and Champion communities of Chase County, Nebraska. She attended Prairie Gem School until the family moved to Champion, where she attended 7th and 8th grades, advancing to high school in Imperial and graduating the 12th grade in 1941. Cap enjoyed sharing stories of those years growing up on the family farm with her siblings, milking cows, separating the milk, churning butter, plus so many other “chores” that needed to be done. Cap remembered a time of walking 3 miles to school each day until a horse was purchased for the kids to ride to and from school. Many memories were created from the love of her parents, brothers and sisters that she has not forgotten. As each family member grew and married, it was not uncommon for all brothers, sisters and their families to come together to celebrate birthdays and holidays. With this, even more memories were shared. Cap met Robert Charles Kelley and they were married July 5, 1941, in Benkelman, NE. They began their life together in what they called the “big house” in Champion, NE. Robert and Cap were married 56 years and were very loving parents to their three children: Patricia Mae, William Wayne and Pamela Raylene. Cap worked at Don Welch’s grocery store during their time in Champion. In 1956, Robert and Cap moved to Ft. Morgan, CO, where Robert worked construction with Cap later working part-time at the Morgan County Hospital as a nurses’ aid. With both Robert’s and Cap’s parents still living in the Imperial and Champion areas, they decided to move back “home” in 1968. There they managed the Imperial Hotel. Besides helping with the hotel, Cap also worked part-time at Skogmos Clothing Store for a short time. She then became a Dispatcher at the Imperial Sheriff’s office for 3 years until retiring. Cap was a member of the Andrew J. Kinder Post #4688 United States Auxiliary to the VFW since November 12, 1973. She became part of the Imperial Heights/Manor family in 2010 where she was loved and cared for until her passing. Everyone that knew her called her Cap. Capitola passed from this life on July 12, 2022, at the Imperial Manor at the age of 99. Cap will be remembered by her son, Wayne Kelley and wife Sue; and daughter, Pamela Stanton and husband Rayburn. Daniel Wondercheck, 58, of Moorecroft, Wyoming passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at his home. He was born on June 14, 1964 in North Platte, NE the son of John Wondercheck, Sr. and Hazel Mae (Wagner) Wondercheck. &nbsp; John Russell Karns was born August 31, 1946, in Sidney, Nebraska, to Lottie Ida (Wolf) and Kermit B. Karns. John graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1965 and on February 14, 1966, he was inducted into the United States Army. On June 22, 1966, John was honorably discharged from the Army, and he began a career as a machine operator for an electrical device manufacturer in Kansas City, MO. John was a member of the North Cross Methodist Church where he assisted with many activities including acting as an usher for over 25 years. He participated in mission trips to Bethlehem, Jerusalem and Costa Rica with the church. John enjoyed bowling, winning many trophies, and music. He loved to sing and he had a beautiful voice. John passed away July 7, 2022, at the Chase County Hospital, Imperial, Nebraska. He was 75 years of age. John was preceded in death by his parents, Lottie and Kermit and his sister, Celia Spady. &nbsp; Delmar C Richter, 86, of Hayes Center died peacefully on July 11, 2022, in the same farmhouse where he was born to Harold and Hazel (Clough) Richter on February 28, 1936. Del was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church of Palisade in 1979 and baptized along with four great granddaughters on August 12, 2006. He sang in the choir and served in many roles as an Elder. He graduated from Hayes Center High School in 1953, where he played football, basketball and ran track. After high school, he married Gwen Curtis and they welcomed two children, Jodi (Stinson) and Randy. After their divorce, Del lovingly referenced his second marriage as a “packaged deal” – the deal included his wife Joyce (Busking), two stepsons Brian and Mark Vogler, and a dog named Alice. He spent most of his life raising cattle, corn and wheat on his family farm near Hayes Center. He also served in the Nebraska National Guard. For hometown happenings, Del could be counted on to volunteer, support, and participate in almost any activity. Some of his favorites included town baseball, pitching horseshoes, listening to blue grass music, playing his harmonica (in jam sessions or for birthdays), and gathering for a hot cup of Hayes County Coop coffee. Del is survived by his wife of 43 years Joyce, daughter Jodi, son Randy (Lana), stepsons Brian (Janelle) and Mark (Cherish), brother Buddy (Janice), sister Bonnie Rader (Con), along with 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Sandra “Sandy” Elaine Anderson was born September 18, 1940, in Broken Bow, NE to G. Leland “Boots” and Kathryn (Johnson) McCaslin. Sandy attended a rural country school Northeast of Broken Bow, then attended and graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1958. Sandy took a Home Economics class at the UNL for a year. On August 30, 1959, Sandy was united in marriage to Donald “Don” R. Anderson. The couple made their home for over 62 years west of Broken Bow. Sandy sold Ladies Intimates for over 50 years, which earned the couple many trips around the world, Hong Kong, Hawaii, Switzerland, Australia, the Caribbean, Mexico, Spain, and France. Sandy’s hobbies included being a Jr. 4-H leader, sewing for others, Church, and Bible study.

Sandy is survived by her husband Don of Broken Bow, children: Ron (Cathy) Anderson of Omaha, Angie Anderson of Broken Bow, Brett (Cheri) Anderson of Holdrege, and Dave (Stephanie) Anderson of Broken Bow, seven grandchildren: Ashley, Justin, Jordan, Alyssa, Jacob, Josh, and Nathan, two great grandchildren: Ryker and Wyatt, brothers Harold (Judy) McCaslin of Broken Bow, and Don (Nancy) McCaslin of Kansas City, KS, and sister-in-law Barbara McCaslin of Columbus, OH.

Sandy Anderson (1940-2022)

Bonnie Joy Hueftle, age 90, of Eustis, Nebraska, passed away July 11, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Minnesota on Lake Mille Lacs. Bonnie was born December 20, 1931 at the pump house on the North Platte Experiment Station (called the State Farm) to Harry Elmer Weakly and Ethel Beatrice (Liljegren) Weakly. She was baptized and confirmed at the First Christian Church, North Platte, NE. Bonnie married Edward Fredrick Hueftle on July 26, 1953 in North Platte, NE. She and Edward made their home ½ mile east of Eustis. In the mid-60s they moved onto the Hueftle homestead. To this union were born three children: Dr. Stacey Joy Stockdill, Kent Ward Hueftle and Ann Annette Hueftle (deceased). Greg Stockdill joined the family on August 4, 1984.

Bonnie was very active in the community. She had a 4-H Club for 15 years. She taught Sunday school at Eustis United Methodist Church for fourteen years and held nearly every job in the church from UMW president to chairman of the administrative board. Bonnie interviewed over 60 early pioneers and World War I and II vets and worked with other residents of Eustis, Nebraska to write and publish 3 books about the history of this vibrant town in southwest Nebraska. She spent 29 years as a volunteer with the Eustis rescue squad and 25 years with the Nebraska State Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) system and served as the Eustis Representative for the High Plains EMS Council. For two years she was Ombudsman at the Elwood nursing home to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of the residents.

 </figure>Bonnie Joy Hueftle, age 90, of Eustis, Nebraska, passed away July 11, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Minnesota on Lake Mille Lacs. Bonnie was born December 20, 1931 at the pump house on the North Platte Experiment Station (called the State Farm) to Harry Elmer Weakly and Ethel Beatrice (Liljegren) Weakly. She was baptized and confirmed at the First Christian Church, North Platte, NE. Bonnie married Edward Fredrick Hueftle on July 26, 1953 in North Platte, NE. She and Edward made their home ½ mile east of Eustis. In the mid-60s they moved onto the Hueftle homestead. To this union were born three children: Dr. Stacey Joy Stockdill, Kent Ward Hueftle and Ann Annette Hueftle (deceased). Greg Stockdill joined the family on August 4, 1984.Bonnie was very active in the community. She had a 4-H Club for 15 years. She taught Sunday school at Eustis United Methodist Church for fourteen years and held nearly every job in the church from UMW president to chairman of the administrative board. Bonnie interviewed over 60 early pioneers and World War I and II vets and worked with other residents of Eustis, Nebraska to write and publish 3 books about the history of this vibrant town in southwest Nebraska. She spent 29 years as a volunteer with the Eustis rescue squad and 25 years with the Nebraska State Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) system and served as the Eustis Representative for the High Plains EMS Council. Bonnie Joy Hueftle (1931-2022)

Hazel C. Hatfield, 95, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022 at Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington.

Hazel was born on January 27, 1927 in Clearfield, Iowa to Lloyd and Bertha (Jarvis) Grubb. She graduated from Bedford High School in 1944. Hazel then completed her Normal Training in Maryville, Missouri to teach school. She taught for two years in rural schools in Iowa. Hazel was united in marriage to Robert Dale Hatfield on November 23, 1948 in Arkansas. Two sons were blessed to this union: Michael and David. The family made their home in Iowa until 1959 when they moved to Lexington. Hazel kept herself busy working at Plectron, Ben Franklin, Sixth Street Food Store, Monroe’s Automotive and Tri-County Hospital. Hazel retired in 1990. She enjoyed playing games which included crossword puzzles, word jumble and Yahtzee with her friends. Hazel also enjoyed working in her yard, tending her flowers and was a faithful dog lover. Hazel was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 111 and was a past member of the First United Methodist Church in Lexington and V.F.W. Auxiliary 5186.

Survivors include her two sons, Michael (Donna) Hatfield and David (Deb) Hatfield both of Lexington; two grandchildren, Scott Hatfield of Lexington and Melanie (Mike) Gomez of Lexington; three great-grandchildren, Lindsey Gomez of Baltimore, Maryland, Kaylee and Jackson Gomez of Lexington; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Besides her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; three sisters, Lillian Gammel, Gladys Gammel, and Frances Allen; one brother, Chester Grubb.

Betty Mae Halouska, 79, of Callaway, Nebraska passed away on July 11, 2022, at Emerald Nursing &amp; Rehab in Cozad, Nebraska.

Betty was born on July 20, 1942, in Ogden, Utah to Henry and Frances Louise (Morris) Bradbury. In 1970, Betty moved to Elwood where she would raise her four children: Troy, Lori, Shelly, and Sandy. In 1986, Betty fell in love and married Wayne Kenneth Halouska. Betty and Wayne spent most of their time truck driving and lived in various locations before finally settling in Callaway in 1993. Once they settled in Callaway, Betty and Wayne began working in construction. Betty had a great love for the outdoors. She enjoyed spending time in her garden, camping, and fishing with her family

Survivors include her son, Troy (Amber) Stauffer of Royse City, Texas; daughters, Lori (Ken Hansen) Stauffer of Page, Arizona, Shelly (Ray Roper) Forrest of Dallas, Texas, and Sandy (Allen) Nichols of Cozad, Nebraska; sister, Jean (Elmer) James of Minden, Utah; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Gage) Stroney, Garrett Stauffer, Michael Forrest, Lori Roper, Trevor (Kelsey) Nichols, Ashley (Jerry) Kincheloe and Colby Nichols as well as eight great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Joanne R. Winter, 91, of La Vista, Nebraska, formerly of Sumner passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at CHI Health Mercy in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

She was born Joan Rosie Hennek on December 31, 1930, in Lexington, Nebraska to Claude and Rosie (Hofreiter) Hennek. There were three "Joan's" in her grade school classroom, so their teacher assigned them each a different spelling to keep them straight. That is why she spells her name differently than what is on her birth certificate. Joanne attended public schools in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1949. She married Addison K. Winter on June 14th, 1950, and moved to Sumner, Nebraska to farm. Two children were blessed to this union: Louise and Mark. They raised two children, many cows and a lot of corn. She began a career as a school cook at SEM Schools which lasted for several years. After nearly 50 years of marriage, A.K. passed away in 1999, and Joanne continued to live on the farm for a few years with their dog, Liz.&nbsp; Then in 2002 she moved to Omaha to be near family there. She loved family get togethers, going to recitals, school activities and horse shows. The whole Winter Family even took a Thanksgiving Disney Cruise together in 2013! Besides being a great cook, she was an avid crocheter and artist in her younger years.

Her recent interests were mostly keeping up on what her grandkids were doing and visiting with friends and neighbors. She loved tuning into the gameshow network and recently began enjoying an evening "tea-time" before bed.

Family surviving: Daughter, Louise Winter and husband John Neaman of Papillion, NE, their daughters, Crystian Neaman, Omaha, NE, and Amber Neaman, Lincoln, NE. Son, Mark Winter and his sons Addison, Zander and Jackson of Pearland, TX, his daughter Kelsi (Logan) Macdonald of San Tan Valley, Arizona. Lyal Austin Taylor, 90 of Westminster, Colorado passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, July 3, 2022. He was a farmer and rancher in Northeastern Colorado raising wheat, corn, sugar beets and cattle.&nbsp; After 20 years, he relocated to Broomfield where he retired after finishing his career as a Sprinkler Installation Technician.&nbsp; Lyal enjoyed spending time outdoors and with his family and friends. Phyllis E. Cosler, 71, of Hershey, NE passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022 at Great Plains Health Hospital in North Platte.

She was born on March 10, 1951 in North Platte, NE the daughter of Frank and Eva (Callahan) Wever. Phyllis attended school in North Platte and graduated with a degree as a dental hygienist assistant from Mid-Plains Community College. She was married to James Cosler on December 18, 1976 in North Platte and they were blessed with 6 children together. She worked for over 10 years as a cashier and customer service manager with Wal-Mart and also for 2 years at the Hershey Quick Stop. She loved spending time with her grandkids and listening to her turntable old country music records. She was a great cook who was well known for her famous potato salad. She loved her pet Bassett hounds, and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish Phyllis’s memory are her husband of 46 years, James; children, Lori (Mike) Aylward, Brian Cosler, Rex (Deb) Cosler, John (Amanda) Cosler, and Joshua (Misty) Cosler; grandchildren, Michael Hutto, Tiffany Hutto, Justin Cosler, Renee Cosler, Cianne Sloan, Kyleigh Cosler, Nathan Cosler, Holly Cosler, Izzy Cosler; great-grandchildren, Aspen Miles, Ryken Gifford, Lily Hutto, and Michael Hayne Hutto; brothers, Frank Marvin “Tommie” Wever and Gary Eugene Wever; and several nieces and nephews. Phyllis E. Cosler (1951-2022)

Betty L. Shaner, at 100 years of age, a long-time resident of North Platte departed this life on July 10, 2022 at her home.

Betty was born in Sutherland, Nebraska on May 18, 1922 to Knute and Mae (Majorowicz) Oberg.&nbsp; On September 13, 1939, Betty was united in marriage to Carrol A. DeMilt.&nbsp; From that union seven daughters and one son were born. Betty married Dale Shaner on February 18, 1978, adding his six children to this extended family. She and Dale remained together until he passed away in December of 2020. Betty was always an innovator.&nbsp; She entered the workforce as a nurse’s aid even while caring for her children and transitioned to selling appliances at Sears which was a “men only” occupation.&nbsp; From there, she was asked to manage several women’s clothing stores in North Platte where she was a positive influence on the many young women who worked with her and on the women who shopped her stores.&nbsp; Even after retirement she continued to work for J.C. Penney doing the thing that she loved….selling to the public.&nbsp; She also was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Knute Oberg and Mae Owen; husband Dale Shaner; sisters Hildegard Oberg and Mary Maxine (Clyde) Johnston; daughter Carolyn Bryant; and son Larry DeMilt; son-in-laws Eland Mumm and Ron Fisher; and brothers-in-law, Ken (Shirley) Shaner and Don Shaner; niece Della Marie Snyder. Left to honor Betty’s memory are six daughters, Ann McCants of Lincoln,&nbsp; NE., Sheila (Kevin) Feeney of North Platte, NE., Sandy Kelly of Plattsmouth, NE., Cheri (Jon) Bodeman of North Platte,&nbsp; NE.,&nbsp; Beth Gray (Alan) and Janice Mumm both of Ceresco, NE.; as well as her special furry friend “Little Man” a puppy whom she rescued; four stepsons, Paul Shaner of Wellfleet NE., Roger (Rhonda) Shaner, of Lexington, NE., &nbsp;Lyle (Nancy) Shaner of La Crosse, WI., and Larry (Donna) Shaner of Des Moines ,IA.; two stepdaughters:&nbsp; Linda Fisher of Jefferson City, MO., and Donna Meyers of Arnold, NE, nephew Gene (Angela) Johnston of North Platte, NE, niece Rita (Jerry) Goddard of Denver, CO., along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Mass of the Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 18, 2022 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in North Platte with Reverend Rand Langhorst as celebrant.&nbsp; Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, NE.&nbsp; Book signing will be noon – 5 on Friday, July 15 at Adams &amp; Swanson Funeral Home who has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Shaner, at 100 years of age, a long-time resident of North Platte departed this life on July 10, 2022 at her home.Betty was born in Sutherland, Nebraska on May 18, 1922 to Knute and Mae (Majorowicz) Oberg.&nbsp; On September 13, 1939, Betty was united in marriage to Carrol A. DeMilt.&nbsp; From that union seven daughters and one son were born. Betty married Dale Shaner on February 18, 1978, adding his six children to this extended family. Betty L. Shaner (1922-2022)

Jamie Plaster, 36, of North Platte, passed away July 10, 2022.&nbsp; She was born on July 18, 1985, to David and Allison (Hoy) Alfers in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Jamie was born in Fort Collins, CO and raised in Denver, CO.&nbsp; She attended Douglas County High School in Castle Rock, CO.&nbsp; Growing up, Jamie was always extroverted, she knew all of her neighbors, even before her parents did.&nbsp; She loved to snowboard and was very artistic.&nbsp; She did outstanding drawings with paint pens, oil paintings, and modern abstract art.&nbsp; Jamie was very social into her adult life as well.&nbsp; She was very outdoorsy and loved animals, especially her late German Shephard, Timber.&nbsp; Jamie met Shane Plaster in Winter Park, Colorado in the early 2000’s.&nbsp; They married in Fort Collins, CO and to this union two sons were born, Talan and Drake.&nbsp; Jamie worked at First National Bank as a bank teller.&nbsp; Jamie was a free spirit and always marched to her own beat.

Survivors include sons, Talan and Drake Plaster; parents, Dave and Allison Alfers of Berthoud, CO; brother, Joseph Alfers; paternal grandma, Kay Alfers. Preceding her in death were maternal grandparents, Judson and Joan (Jameson) Hoy; paternal grandfather, Jean Alfers.
