Eugenia Marie Snell, or Grandma Jean as many called her, age 91, of North Platte, Nebraska formerly of Valentine, Nebraska died on April 7, 2020 at her home. Jean was born on October 1, 1928 in Kansas City, MO to Eugene&nbsp;Alexander and Ida Marie (Hodges) Brown. At an early age the family moved to Redondo Beach, CA,&nbsp;where Jean grew up and graduated from Adolph Luezinger High School. In 1946 she was united in&nbsp;marriage to Bruno A. Schlueter of Valentine, NE where the two made their home. To this union two&nbsp;children were born, Bruno “Skip” Jr. and Donna Jean.

Jean became activities director of Pine View Nursing Home in Valentine. She later moved to North&nbsp;Platte where she married Samuel W. Snell. She and Sam loved traveling in their motor-home, meeting&nbsp;many friends along the way. When Sam became ill, Jean cared for him until his death in 1988. She was&nbsp;a devoted and caring wife until the end.

Later, Jean worked for the County Juvenile Holdover and then the Boys and Girls Home for 17 years.&nbsp;She loved the job and the youth and was fondly called Grandma Jean by all who attended. She called&nbsp;them her angels.

Jean was a Regional Counselor and worked as a substitute teacher in the classroom. She could be&nbsp;depended upon in any situation. She was fun, loving, and never met a stranger.

After retiring, Jean drove to California to be with her mother who was in a nursing home. Later in life&nbsp;she did what she enjoyed including white water rafting, hot air ballooning, panning for gold, riding her&nbsp;motorcycle, and playing bingo at the VFW and the Senior Center in North Platte.

Jean’s real love in life were her children. They always came first. She was a loving and kind mother,&nbsp;grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her children, Donna (Mike) Dammann of St. Libory, NE, and Bruno “Skip” (Neila)&nbsp;Schlueter of The Philippines; 5 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sam; son-in-law, Doug Sharp; sister, Rosetta&nbsp;Jackson; and brother-in-law, Harold Jackson.

Glen William Stoetzel, age 86 of North Platte passed away April 8, 2020 at the Cozad Care Center.

Glen was born on July 23, 1933 in Dickens, Nebraska to Sylvester and Maudie Carry (Favinger) Stoetzel.&nbsp;He grew up in Hayes County on the Leu Ranch, graduating from North Platte Senior High in 1951. He&nbsp;entered the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. Glen married Mary Lunkwitz on&nbsp;October 23, 1954 in Belton, TX. Upon his discharge the couple lived in North Platte and then moved to&nbsp;the Leu Ranch in Hayes County, and to Wellfleet where Glen farmed and ranched. In 1973-74, the&nbsp;family moved south of North Platte where they continued to ranch and farm.

Glen enjoyed his work and being outside, he was great at fixing things, especially with #9 wire! He&nbsp;always had a candy and popcorn stash!

Survivors include his wife, Mary of North Platte; children, Carol (Monty) Brandes of Sierra Vista, AZ, Julie&nbsp;(Mark) Brandes of North Platte, Tim (Dawn) Stoetzel of Maxwell, and LeAnn (Shawn) Hindman of&nbsp;Urbandale, IA; sister, Linda (John) Fairley of Minatare, NE; grandchildren, Aaron, Amy, Adam, Jesse,&nbsp;Nicole, Cynthia, Kristine, Samantha, Austin, and Autumn; numerous great-grandchildren; many other&nbsp;family members and friends.

Glen William Stoetzel (1933-2020

Scott Russell Leisy was born on October 28, 1985 in Sidney Nebraska to Lisa (Sterling) Lamb.&nbsp; He was adopted by Darrel and Wilda Leisy at four months old, and he always felt the utmost gratitude to his birth mother for placing him with forever parents who loved and supported him unconditionally.

Scott attended Atkinson Elementary and graduated from West Holt High School in 2004.&nbsp; He attended Dana College in Blair, where he majored in K-12 Physical Education and minored in broadcasting.&nbsp; For three years he played for the Dana Vikings basketball team, and spent one year as a student assistant coach.&nbsp; He was forever grateful to coach Chris Fear for stating his coaching career.&nbsp; He graduated from Dana in 2008.

In July of the same year, Scott was married to Mary Hendricks.&nbsp; They started their life in Dorchester, NE where Scott taught and coached while Mary finished school.&nbsp; They then moved to Thedford, NE and spent the next five years there.&nbsp; He was honored and proud to qualify teams to the NSAA Girls State Basketball tournament twice during his time coaching the Sandhills-Thedford Lady Knights.&nbsp; Scott's greatest joy during the time in Thedford, however, was the birth of two children Hayden Russell (2012) and Baylor Marie (2014).

Over the next few years, the family moved from Thedford to O’Neill, &amp; then to McCook, and encountered many joys in their schools, churches, and community; qualifying girls golf teams for state titles, and welcoming their youngest daughter, Jordyn Lee (2016) into the world. In 2017, the family landed back home, sharing their life between Clearwater, O’Neill, and the ranch.&nbsp; Scott renewed involvement in broadcasting for KBRX and officiating while teaching in Clearwater, where Mary also presently teaches.&nbsp; The couple has said many times since that move, that God knew they would need to be home for the challenges that were ahead.

In February, 2018, Scott was diagnosed with stage IV colorectal cancer. His infectious positivity, solid faith in the Lord, &amp; love for his family &amp; friends were his source of strength throughout his cancer battle.&nbsp; His mantra became "win the day," &amp; he considered every day a winning day.&nbsp; &nbsp;Scott won his battle against cancer on April 6, 2020.

He is survived by his wife Mary, children Hayden age 8, Baylor age 6, &amp; Jordyn age 3.&nbsp; His parents &amp; dearly loved in-laws, Darrell &amp; Wilda Leisy and Rick &amp; Nancy Hendricks all of Atkinson, his sister Jenny Leisy of Atkinson, brother-in-law Tim (Kim) Hendricks of Wahoo, Grandmother Rita Muhm of Alliance, NE and Della Schwindt of Salina, KS; 5 nieces and nephews, and countless students, players, &amp; friends.

Ronnie K. Bean, son of Chester and Florence (Dennis) Bean was born January 24, 1936.&nbsp; He passed away April 6, 2020 at The Good Life Center in Callaway, NE.

Ronnie was raised on the family farm south of Arnold.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Ronnie married Sharron Welty on May 29, 1956.&nbsp; Three children were born to this union, Debbie, David, and Darry.&nbsp; In the early years of marriage, Ronnie worked in road construction and lived on the family farm. In 1968 the family moved to town.&nbsp; At that time, Ronnie owned a custom baling business. His integrity and work ethic was a priority - even if it meant working all night long to get the bales just right.&nbsp; Ronnie also did custom dirt-work and land-leveling for irrigation.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Ronnie’s love of family was the most important thing in his life.&nbsp; He instilled a work ethic in all 3 of his children. Ronnie taught them how to bale hay, how to repair the baler, and how to work alongside him.&nbsp; The kids helped to tear down a house and reuse the lumber to add on to their family home. They all learned how to pull nails and the boys learned building construction skills.&nbsp; Ronnie worked to figure things out and find a way to accomplish difficult tasks. He was a teacher of life-skills to his family.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Ronnie worked for the Arnold Township for 27 years.&nbsp; He operated the maintainer and took great pride in taking care of the roads and moving snow.&nbsp; He always took great pride in his work.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Ronnie and Sharron purchased Bean’s Boutique on Main Street in Arnold.&nbsp; They worked together in the store and loved serving their customers and friends in the community.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Ronnie and Sharon were married for 59 years until she passed in 2015.&nbsp; Ronnie did everything he could to help Sharron, including helping her plant and care for her flower gardens.&nbsp; Ronnie missed Sharron after she passed and was lonely without her.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Ronnie’s survivors include his children:&nbsp;&nbsp;Debbie (Don) Brosius; David (Patty) Bean; and Darry (Sherry) Bean. His grandchildren and great-Grandchildren:&nbsp;Jenna (Jeromy) Matthies, Elayna, and Jasper, Elizabeth, Jourdan, and Jake; John Brosius, and sons Hunter and Jaxton;

Adam (Nicky) Bean and daughters Jaelynn, Bailey, Payton, and Audrey; Logan (Maggie) Bean; Lyndsee (Cory) Clifton, Trevor, Triston, and Baylee; and Michelle (Ed) Stags, Jessica, Christina, Natalie and A.J.,Ronnie is also survived by his sister, Betty Cole.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Richard 'Dick' L. Hoffman, age 86 formerly of Thedford passed away Sunday April 5,2020 at the Fallbrook Assisted Living and Memory Care in Lincoln, NE.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Dick was born November 24, 1933 in Omaha, NE to Emil and Pearl (Lundberg) Hoffman. Dick attended and graduated from Sumner High School. He graduated Kearney State College, and then Emporia State where he received his master’s degree. Dick taught Junior High School 7th&nbsp;and 8th&nbsp;grade Social Studies, English, and was a Guidance Counselor. His was an Educator in Thermopolis, WY, Merriman, Hebron, Tri-County in Plymouth, Wilber, Thedford 1974 to 1984, Lyman, and Springview. Dick retired to Thedford.

On August 9, 1959 he was united in marriage to Eileen Wanda Trueman in Sumner, NE, to this union two children were born Cheryl and Mark.

Dick served in the Army during the Korea War. He collected model cars, enjoyed camping, traveling, riding motorcycles, storytelling, and gardening, he had a great sense of humor. After retiring Dick and Eileen wintered in Texas, visiting Mexico, and traveling to Maine, and going into New Brunswick, Canada.&nbsp; Dick was a member of The Thedford American Legion and Lion’s Club.

Dick is survived by his daughter Cheryl (Mark) Lindner of Lincoln, son Mark (Sue) Hoffman of Philadelphia, PA, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law Wayne (Linda) Trueman of Denver, CO, and Dick (Lois) Warta of Overton.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents Emil and Pearl Hoffman, and wife Eileen.

Joan Elizabeth Bizzell, 89, of North Platte, passed away at Linden Court&nbsp;on Tuesday, April 7, 2020.

Joan was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on April 13, 1930, to Mallow and&nbsp;Marie (Sukraw) Greenway and grew up in Tennessee and Nebraska.&nbsp;&nbsp;Following her high school graduation she attended Bob Jones University&nbsp;in Tennessee then got married.

After getting married to Jesse Richard Bizzell in 1950, the couple moved&nbsp;to North Platte and later divorced.&nbsp; Joan was a spiritual person and&nbsp;became a minister in the '80's.&nbsp; She served with Assembly of God Church,&nbsp;was a minister to rest homes and the jail for many years, and attended&nbsp;the Salvation Army for as long as she could.

Joan was a prayer warrior.&nbsp; She loved reading the Bible, her favorite&nbsp;passage was Psalm 91, and enjoyed listening to gospel music and KJLT&nbsp;Radio.&nbsp; Joan was known as a little whirlwind who was always doing something.

She is survived by her children, Mary (Jack) Gier, of North Platte and&nbsp;Michael (Judy) Bizzell, of Puyallup, Washington; grandchildren, Brian&nbsp;Bizzell, Heather (Scott) Thomas, Heath (Jenny) Gier and Joel Gier;&nbsp;great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Alysha, Isaiah and Cam Thomas, Taylor and&nbsp;Jade Gier; great great-granddaughter, Willow Thomas; as well as other&nbsp;family.

Joan was preceded in death by her father, Mallow Greenway; mother, Marie&nbsp;Alexander; and granddaughter, Heidi Gier.

She enjoyed antiques and historical buildings and restorations, horticulture and the process of learning new things.&nbsp; She was very political, enjoying the town hall lecture series.&nbsp; Jane was attached to the land and farming, still owning a family farm in Palmer, NE.&nbsp; She was a devote Christian and a member of the North Platte Berean Church.

Survivors include her children, Douglas Johnson of Palmer, NE, Linda (Jerome) Knoll&nbsp; of North Platte, NE/Phoenix, AZ, Mardena Williams of Anchorage, AK, Dan (Kerry) Johnson of North Platte, NE, Maryjane (Ted) Rogers of Kodiak, AK, and Julie Taylor-Johnson of North Platte, NE; 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon G. Johnson; son, Dale Johnson; and siblings, Manford, Martin, Hilburt, Willard, Eva, Josephine, and Bernard.

Gary Lee Tatman, age 82, of North Platte, passed away at home with his&nbsp;family by his side on Monday, April 6, 2020.

Gary was born December 7, 1937, to Lloyd Adams and Ruth Beatrice (Gerle)&nbsp;Tatman in North Platte where he grew up.&nbsp; After graduating from North&nbsp;Platte High School in 1956, Gary hired on with the Union Pacific&nbsp;Railroad and helped his dad build houses.&nbsp; In 1963 he started Tatman&nbsp;Construction then in 2000 he started Tatman Contract Service with the&nbsp;Union Pacific and continued building houses.

On December 4, 1960, Gary was united in marriage to Bette Carole Hosford&nbsp;in North Platte where they lived and raised two daughters, Renee and Amy.

Gary wasn't just interested in building, he also had cattle and liked to&nbsp;rodeo.&nbsp; In 1965 he was honored with "Rookie of the Year" by the Nebraska&nbsp;State Rodeo Association.&nbsp; In his free time, Gary enjoyed hunting and&nbsp;watching the girls play volleyball and basketball.&nbsp; Since he was a&nbsp;Nebraska football fan and other family members were Colorado fans, the&nbsp;Tatman family made a friendly tradition out of watching their two teams&nbsp;compete.

Gary was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elks Club,&nbsp;Eagles and the Moose.&nbsp; He was a kind, loving person who was always&nbsp;willing to help someone else.

He leaves behind his wife, Bette, and daughters, Renee Tatman and Amy&nbsp;(Mitch) Beyer, all of North Platte; grandsons, Caleb 'CJ' (Helena)&nbsp;Beyer, Cory Tatman and Drew Beyer; brother, Allen 'Pete' (Martha)&nbsp;Tatman, of Leawood, KS; sisters-in-law, Netta Tatman, of Boulder, CO,&nbsp;and Sue Tatman, of Denver, CO; brother-in-law, Elmer 'Rusty' Hosford, of&nbsp;Denver, CO; as well as other family and his many friends.

Virginia Carolyn (Clark) Montgomery, 100, of North Platte, passed away April 3, 2020 in North Platte.

She was born in Neola, IA on October 3, 1919 to Lee and Elizabeth (Petersen) Clark. At a very early age, she moved to Chappell, NE with her family who settled North of town. She attended country school, district 10, Deuel County High School, graduating in 1937. All six of her children went to the same country one room school and graduated from Deuel County high school as she did.

On June 12, 1941, she married Albert (A.W.) Montgomery in Boise, ID. Six children were born to this&nbsp;union: Mary, Al, Gene, Deann, Dwight, and Betty. After retirement, Virginia and A.W. moved to Falls&nbsp;City, NE. After his death on September 12, 1976, she moved to North Platte, NE where she lived until&nbsp;her passing.

Virginia was an avid western history reader and worked the crossword puzzles every day. She raised&nbsp;beautiful flowers all summer in her back yard. She was proud to follow in her father’s footsteps,&nbsp;collecting rocks wherever she went. Virginia crocheted many doilies and other creative handiwork. She&nbsp;gave much of her handiwork as gifts which were treasured by everyone. Her favorite talent was oil&nbsp;painting, which she enjoyed all of her life. Virginia was always proud to say that women earned the right&nbsp;to vote the year she was born. She survived The Depression and the drought of the 1930’s which helped&nbsp;shape her life with memories she will never forget.

Survivors include her children, Mary (Ted) Brown of North Platte, Al (Norma) Montgomery of Falls City,&nbsp;Gene (Anita) Montgomery of Fort Collins, CO, Dwight (Cindy) Montgomery of North Platte, and Betty&nbsp;(Wally) Allison of North Platte; and many grand and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Gladys and Lucille; brothers, Don, Marvin, and Lester;&nbsp;daughter, Deann; and a grandson, Bence.

Diana was born in North Platte to Don and Velma (Cheevers) Dancer on September 10, 1952.&nbsp; She grew up in Omaha where she graduated from North High School then got married.

On March 27, 1971, Diana married the love of her life, Daniel Eugene Edwards.&nbsp; They lived in Omaha before moving to North Platte in '74.&nbsp; Diana worked for Northwestern Bell telephone as an Operator until it was bought out then stayed home with their children.&nbsp; In her later years, she was a foster mom and caregiver.

Diana was a member of TOPS and Marriage Encounter and attended Harvest Christian Church.&nbsp; She liked to draw, do crafts and bake banana bread.&nbsp; She loved her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids, and enjoyed going to their different activities.

Diana was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel; dad, Don Dancer, Mom, Velma Carlson; and niece, Apryl Knobbe.

Frank M. Naranjo, 92, of North Platte went to his Heavenly home on Monday, March 30, 2020 at the Great Plains Medical Center, with his beautiful wife of 72 years holding his hand.

Francisco, known as “Grandpa Frank” to many, was born July 14, 1927 on a family ranch near Trujillo, New Mexico, the son of Leopoldo and Juanita (Trujillo) Naranjo. He was one of 17 brothers and sisters. Frank left home at the age of 14 on his journey of hard work and becoming the man God had planned for him. This journey included working on ranches; breaking-horses, herding sheep and making numerous friendships along the way. He ended up in Cheyenne, Wyoming where he married the love of his life, Bersabe “Bertha” Abeyta on August 18, 1947. This union was blessed with children, Johnny, Betty, Ernie, Larry, Tony, Daniel and Michelle.

Frank and Bertha moved to North Platte, Nebraska in 1949. Frank worked for Union Pacific Railroad for a total of 43 years until his retirement. He was a lift-truck operator at the freight house until its closing and then as a crew driver for the yard office. During this time, he also managed the stockyards for U.P. when cattle were still being hauled by rail.

Together, Frank and Bertha shared their love with everyone. They loved unconditionally, from their family to all their adopted family as well. Their walk with “Baby Jesus” was evident by the passion they had of feeding and blessing the many homeless along the way.

Some of Frank’s enjoyments included his love of horses, the slot machines (always bet the max, making friends with everyone he encountered and his many years with the Nebraskaland Days Shootout Gang. Many along the way called him “Dad and Grandpa”. He was truly loved by all. He is a charter member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 72 years, Bertha; their children, Betty Pinkerton of Ft. Frank is preceded in death by two sons, Johnny and Ernie; great grandkids, Alexis Wheeler, TJ Barker, Aiden Naranjo, Tiara and Nathaniel Solie; his parents; his siblings, Selso Naranjo, Alfonso Naranjo, Manuel Naranjo, Joseph “Gabe” Naranjo, Beatrice Trujillo, Leo Jr. Naranjo, Adolfo Naranjo, Mary Trujillo, Cecilio Naranjo and Stella Trujillo.



Private family services will be at 2 PM (CDT) on Sunday, April 12th, 2020 at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island, Nebraska. The service will be live-streamed on All Faiths Funeral Home, Grand Island, Nebraska's Facebook page. His son, Daniel, will officiate.

Private family burial will be the following day in the North Platte Cemetery. Father Vidya Sagar Arikotla will offer the blessings at the graveside.

A celebration Mass of Christian Burial and reception will be announced at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to Holy Spirit Food Pantry, the North Platte Salvation Army, or the Naranjo Family Scholarship Fund through the North Platte Public Schools Foundation.

Vernell (Jackie) Baker 99, lifelong resident of North Platte departed this life on March 31, 2020 at her youngest son's home in Omaha.

Jackie, the nickname given by her husband when in high school, was born August 19, 1920 in Moorefield, NE to Lewis &amp; Vella (Todd) Herndon.&nbsp; Jackie attended Grade School in rural Moorefield, and High School at the Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis, graduating in 1938.&nbsp; Upon graduation she went on to Cosmetology School.

While at Curtis, Jackie met Clifford Baker of North Platte.&nbsp; They became friends, dated, and fell in love while attending high school.&nbsp; On December 10, 1939 Jackie and Clifford were united in marriage in Oberlin, KS.&nbsp; They lived in North Platte for a couple years before moving to Washington State where Ronnie was born.&nbsp; When Clifford enlisted in the Army, Jackie returned to North Platte for the birth of their daughter Bonita.

Jackie and the children resided with her parents while Clifford served in the Army Air Corp in India.&nbsp; Upon Clifford's discharge, Jackie pursued her career as a cosmetologist, homemaker and assisted at their business, Baker's Hatchery-Feed in rural North Platte.&nbsp; After closing their business in 1963.

Jackie changed careers and worked at North Platte Junior College, eventually working as a hostess and seamstress at different restaurants and department stores in North Platte area.&nbsp; She retired in the 1980's from Pay &amp; Pak Stores.

She enjoyed the outdoors, and always maintained a meticulous lawn and flower garden.&nbsp; She liked to travel, and she took cruises and other trips to fourteen different countries.&nbsp; In addition, she liked to go fishing and hunting with her sons, shooting a 10-point buck at the age of 94, Jackie was an avid Husker fan and enjoyed watching TV westerns.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Order of Eastern Star, Past President of Social Order of Beauceant, American Legion Auxiliary, and Shrine Auxiliary.

Jackie held a deep appreciation for her children and family and remained devoted to Clifford's memory her entire life.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford; parents Lewis &amp; Vella Herndon; in-laws Seeley &amp; Bessie Baker and brother Arthur Herndon.

She is survived by her children Ronnie (Pat) Baker, Bonita (Randy) Ogier and Larry (Lani) Baker, 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 22 great-great grandchildren along with other family and friends. Her memory will be cherished.

Due to current health concerns there will be no Funeral Service. Family requests no flowers and memorials in Jackie’s memory be sent to donor’s choice. Visitation will be Sunday, April 5, 2020 from 3-6 p.m. at Adams &amp; Swanson Funeral Home. Graveside services and interment for immediate family will be at Floral Lawns Cemetery. Ardis Gilliland, 96, of Curtis, Nebraska, went to her heavenly home on April 1, 2020 at Senior Living Choices in Curtis, NE. &nbsp;

Ardis was born at Curtis, NE on March 3, 1924, she was the daughter of Carl and Mable Nutt and the eldest of their seven children.&nbsp; She attended a country grade school and graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture. She taught school before marrying Howard Gilliland on November 7, 1942. To this union five children were born, Ronald, Connie, Rodney, Charlene, and Darla. Ardis was known for her hard work. She could operate any piece of equipment they had on the farm while herding "the five". When she moved to Curtis she loved her work at Green Thumb and Sunset Haven Nursing Home. She always felt they blessed her.

Survivors include her children: Ronald of Curtis, Connie (Andy) Bowman of Kearney, Rodney (Darlene) of Smithfield, Charlene (Lee) Malm of Pine Bluffs, WY and Darla (Dave) Ruppert of McCook.&nbsp; Her sister Doris (Rich) Wood of Littleton, CO; along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren will always remember "grandmommy's" cooking.&nbsp; Her second family became all those at Senior Living Choices.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters Fern, Retha, and Wilma; two brothers Allen and Orville; one grandson Shane and step-granddaughter Jess.

Phyllis Mohr, age 69, of North Platte, formerly of Sutherland, died unexpectedly at Great Plains Health on Tuesday, March 31, 2020.

Phyllis was born December 31, 1950, at Alliance to Kenneth and Bessie Still. Phyllis grew up in Paxton where she graduated from high school in 1970 then went to beauty school in Scottsbluff. From there she moved to Wray, Colorado to work as a nanny for a girlfriend then returned to Paxton a year later and went to work for TRW in Ogallala.

On November 25, 1978, Phyllis married Harry Mohr in Grant, Nebraska. They lived in Madrid for a few years then moved to Sutherland where Phyllis worked at Kmart until the store closed in 1996. She later worked as Head Cook at Hershey Schools until retiring in 2010.

Phyllis was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing Bingo and loved to cook; she was known for her great Mexican food and tortillas.

She is survived by her son, Greg (Pepper) Still, of Hershey; grandchildren, Kylor Miller, Koby Still and Makenna Still; sister, Nettie Still, of Blair; brothers, Merle (Heidi) Still, of North Platte and LeRoy Still, of San Francisco; special friend, Dennis Ogborn, of North Platte; as well as other family.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; parents, Ken and Bessie Still; and brother, Kenny Still.

Phyllis Mohr (1950-2020

Myrna Twombly, 80, of Holdrege, died at Kearney Regional Hospital on Tuesday, March 31, 2020.

Myrna was born to Robert and Arlis Roberts in Norton County, Kansas, on August 24, 1939. Myrna grew up in Norton County and Alma, NE, then got married after she was done with school. She later became a certified nurse’s aid and worked for Christian Homes and Memorial Homes, both in Holdrege. Myrna enjoyed spending her free time doing embroidery and solving crossword puzzles.

Myrna is survived by her daughter, Sherry, and three stepsons; sister, Joyce (Marion) Walkington, of Holdrege; brother, Robert, Jr. (Diane) Roberts, of Oregon; sister-in-law, Jan Roberts, of North Platte; three grandchildren; and other family.

Myrtle Helen Dent age 90 of Mullen, NE passed away Sunday, March 29, 2020 in Mullen, NE at the Pioneer Memorial Rest Home.

Helen (Pearson) Dent was born May 9, 1929 to Fritz and Myrtle Pearson in Mullen, NE.&nbsp;&nbsp;She passed away on March 29, 2020.

Helen lived her life in the Mullen area.&nbsp;&nbsp;She liked being part of a big family and had a lot of stories about growing up in their small house with only 3 bedrooms and 6 kids.&nbsp;&nbsp;She once said that you could be in a big fight with one of your sisters, but you had to get over it by bedtime!&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;As they all grew older and had families of their own, they still loved to get together for family events and holidays.&nbsp;&nbsp;There would be cooking, card playing and lots of visiting and laughter.

Helen enjoyed sports.&nbsp;&nbsp;In High School she played basketball, softball and loved to roller skate.&nbsp;&nbsp;She continued to play softball for many years on the North Country team that Vern coached.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

On Sept 23, 1948 she and Vern were married.&nbsp;&nbsp;They began their lives together living and working on Slim Marshall’s ranch north of Whitman.&nbsp;&nbsp;They worked on various ranches over the years before starting their own place.&nbsp;&nbsp;On several of the ranches she was the “cook” for the hired hands.&nbsp;&nbsp;Luckily for them, she was very good at it!

Ranch life was a perfect fit for Helen.&nbsp;&nbsp;She worked side by side with Vern milking cows, doing cattle work and checking wells.&nbsp;&nbsp;They had 3 kids within 4 years, so she was a very busy woman.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Helen loved her family and some of her favorite times were when they would all get together.&nbsp;She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Helen is survived by 3 children:&nbsp;&nbsp;Mike (Rachel) Dent, Jane (Mike) Edelman and Steve (Erin) Dent&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Grandkids:&nbsp;&nbsp;Dan (Molly) Dent, Dana (Scott) Freiberg, Leslie (Mathew) Lee, Brent (Jenner) Edelman, Stacey (Jeff) Stanbury, Steven (Tina) Edelman, Shawn (Tara) Minor, Katie (Joe) Mundorf, Steven (Kay) Dent and 20 Great Grandkids.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Also, 3 in-laws: John Worrall, Dean Marshall and Marjorie Pearson.&nbsp;

Helen was proceeded in death by&nbsp;her parents Fritz and Myrtle Pearson, husband Vern and siblings, John and Norma Pearson, Mary Worrall, William and Norma Pearson, Marlene Marshall and Donald Pearson.&nbsp;&nbsp;

A private family graveside will be held. Memorials are suggested to Sandhills Family Clinic, Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home or Cedarview Cemetery.

Arlene Ruth White age 96 of Broken Bow, NE passed away Monday, March 30, 2020 at the Jennie M. Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow, NE.

Arlene was born April 8, 1923 to Bert and Adeline (Anderson) Schmidt in Anselmo, NE. Arlene grew up near Anselmo where she attended rural school. Arlene worked for a short time at the Hastings Ordnance plant. On January 30, 1946 she was united in marriage to Vernon White in Anselmo, NE. The couple lived in Brewster for a while on Vernon’s uncle Jimmy White ranch. In the summer of 1947 the coupled moved Oregon, where Vernon worked at lumber mill with his brother Wilmer White. In 1948, they returned to Broken Bow. In later years, Arlene worked at the Arrow Hotel, cleaning rooms and laundry. Arlene never had a driver’s license.

Arlene was active in the First Christian Church. She enjoyed cooking, family gatherings, fishing, and camping.

Arlene is survived by daughters Elaine (Larry) Gimpel of Aurora and Delores “Dee” Hanson of Cosmos, NM, seven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, daughter-in-law Connie White of Lincoln, sister Ruby Booth of Lincoln.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband Vernon, son Dennis, daughter Cindy, her parents, a brother Berten Schmidt, and granddaughter Kristi.

Arlene Ruth White (1923-2020

Opal “Pauline” (Stephens) Haumont age 96 of Broken Bow, NE passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at the Brookestone View in Broken Bow, NE.

Pauline was born June 26, 1923 in Stapleton, NE to Raleigh and Ruth (Ervin) Reynolds. She attended rural country school in Logan County. Then graduated from Baker Rural High School in Stapleton. After graduation she volunteered at the Canteen in North Platte, NE to feed the military passing through on the train. At one stop she got to see the “Love of Her Life” for 5 minutes.

On November 1, 1942 she was united to that “Love” Elmer Stephens. They made their home in California until Elmer was discharged from the Army, then they moved to Litchfield, NE for three years. To this union two children were born Carol Jean in 1947 and along come Kenneth Wayne in 1950, on “Carol’s birthday!”

In 1948 the couple purchased Stapleton Produce &amp; Feed in Stapleton, NE. They operated this business until 1965 when they sold it and moved to Broken Bow. Pauline worked for Custer Public Power District for approximately 20 years before her retirement. Elmer passed in December of 1986.

On April 18, 1992 she married Steven Haumont in Broken Bow, NE. They both enjoyed retirement and golfing until Steve went to live in Heritage Hall and Pauline moved to Liberty Square. She made many trips down the hall to visit Steve and all the nurses. Most of her free time was spent making quilts, crocheting afghans and name plaques for most of the people at Heritage Hall. In 2016, Pauline entered Heritage Hall herself and lived there until they transferred her to Brookestone View until her passing.

Pauline is survived by a daughter Carol (Gerald) Mathis of Elida, NM, son Kenneth (Marilyn) Stephens, of Valentine, eight grandchildren Randi (Gary) Hromas of Lincoln, Rhonda (Joe) Lichtenberg of Omaha, Jason (Candy) Mathis of Atkinson, Stacy (Joe) Derrick of Roswell, NM, Marty (Erin) Mathis of Amistad, NM, Kendra (Jason) Wright of Olathe, KS, Melissa Stephens of Valentine, Kayla Stephens of Valentine, 16 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, step-children Kay (Roland) Rossmiller of CA, Darrel Haumont of Broken Bow, brother-in-law Roy Stephens of Vancouver, WA, and many nieces and nephews.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands Elmer Stephens and Steven Haumont, one brother, and four sisters.
