&nbsp; &nbsp; Zona Inez Fritz was born on December 24, 1947 in Holdrege, Nebraska to Everett D. and Inez V. (Severns) Taylor. She graduated from Oxford High School in 1966 and furthered her education by graduating from the Lincoln General Hospital School of Nursing in 1969.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Zona married James A. Von Loh on January 24, 1970 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Oxford, Nebraska and to this marriage Heather Ann, Suzanne Marie, Nicole Aimee, and James Joel were born. On May 26, 1984 she was united in marriage to Ronald W. Fritz at St John's Lutheran Church in Oxford. &nbsp;Ron brought children, Michael Alan and Ann Marie to the family. &nbsp;Zona and Ron would add their final child, Matthew Wayne together. The family settled in their home southwest of McCook and called McCook home for the rest of their lives together.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Zona enjoyed a long career as a Registered Nurse; including working at Fritzer Memorial Hospital in Oxford and McCook Community Hospital where she worked from June of 1984 until her retirement on January 9, 2015.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; Zona was a woman of strong faith. &nbsp;She began her faith journey with her baptism on February 25, 1951. &nbsp;She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Culbertson, where she played the organ and was involved with various church groups and activities. Prior to St John, she was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in McCook for many years. She was also a member of the McCook Art Guild and enjoyed drawing and watercolor painting. &nbsp;Zona loved music and played the piano and organ. &nbsp;She was the bell choir director at Peace Lutheran in McCook, where she also played the organ for many years. &nbsp;She enjoyed reading, cooking/baking and spending time with her family. &nbsp;Zona loved seeing her grandchildren and she was very close with her sisters. She also enjoyed getting together to eat chili and watch Husker football.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Zona was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Walter Taylor; brother, Herbert Taylor; sister, Avis Johnson and brother-in-law, Lloyd Johnson; sister, Dixie Green and brother-in-law, Lee Green; and daughter, Ann Brown.

&nbsp; &nbsp; She is survived by spouse, Ronald Fritz; children: son, Mike (Shelly) Fritz of Tucson, Arizona; son-in-law, Matt Brown of Culbertson; daughter, Heather (Matt) Knea of Plymouth Minnesota; daughter, Suzanne (Matt) Falkinburg of Longmont, Colorado; daughter, Nicole Hollers (Ryan Lloyd) of Omaha, Nebraska; son, James Von Loh of Omaha; and son, Matthew Fritz (Jessica Kuhr) of Platte Center, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Anita Taylor; sister-in-law, Sue Taylor, and sisters, Judy Tadlock, Gloria Egge and Nancy Fry; grandchildren: Trevor Fritz, Zachary Fritz, Katy Fritz, Randy Brown, Angela Brown, Ryan Brown, Julia Knea, Owen Knea, Hayden Falkinburg, Tyler Falkinburg, Cadence Hollers, Colin Hollers, and Camden Hollers; great-grandchildren Riley Brown, Draven Brown, and EJ Alan Fritz; as well as many nieces and nephews.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Zona passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska on Saturday, November 11, 2023 surrounded by many of her family. &nbsp;She was 75 years of age.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Visitation will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 2-6PM at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. &nbsp;Zona's family will be present to greet friends from 4-6PM.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30AM, Saturday morning, November 18, 2023 at St. John Lutheran Church in Culbertson with Pastor Bradley Rick officiating. &nbsp;Burial will follow services in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.

Zona Inez Fritz (1947-2023)

Jerry L Newkirk, 83 of Hershey, Nebraska passed away in his home Saturday, November 11th, 2023.&nbsp; Jerry was born September 7th, 1940 in Lewellen, Nebraska where he and his brothers were raised on a farm/ranch operation.

In the fall of 1962 Jerry met his bride to be, Cheri Briggs, and they were wed just 10 days later. Their union produced 2 children. A son Tony and daughter Cyndi.&nbsp; Although Jerry spent a good share of his life farming, he also spent many hours behind the wheel of a semi, and even owned a small dairy at one point. He eventually brought his family back to Lewellen to farm with his dad. In 1985 Jerry and Cheri made the move to Imperial, Ne where they would reside for 30 years until Jerry officially retired. They made a final move to Hershey, Nebraska to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren.&nbsp; Jerry never lost his love for farming and could often be found tinkering with a tractor in his yard, working in his garden, or sitting on the front porch watching the neighbors work the soil. &nbsp;His little dog Chloe always at his side.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Effie, step mother, Elizabeth; parents- in-law, Charles and Eula; brothers, Harvey and Harry; brother-in-law, Dan; son, Tony; grandchildren, Corey and Casey; and great grandson, Esiah.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Cheri; daughter Cyndi; grandchildren, Jazmin, Jon, Jackson, Joey, Amelia and Seaira; great grandchildren, Ethan, Emelio, Javier, Ki'auna, Dominique, Aiyana, and Skylynn. &nbsp;Along with many other family members and friends.

Cremation was chosen.&nbsp;&nbsp;Joint Memorial Service for Jerry and Cheryl will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, April 19, 2024 at Adams &amp; Swanson Funeral Home.  Book signing will be 9-5, Thursday, April 18 at Adams &amp; Swanson Funeral Home who is in charge of assisting the family.

Jerry Lee Newkirk (1940-2023)

Darin&nbsp;Welsh, the son of Jerry and Sharon Welsh, was born in Sutherland on March 18, 1962. &nbsp;He died at the Sutherland Care Center on November 12, 2023, at age 61.

Darin grew up in Sutherland where he graduated from high school and worked with his dad on the family farm. &nbsp;He later worked for Western Engineering and drove a truck.

Darin was married to Julie and twins, Dylan and Danyelle, were born. &nbsp;He enjoyed spending summers camping with his family. &nbsp;Darin eventually became a grandpa to Mayson and Brooklynn; he loved every minute of being grandpa.

Darin is survived by his children, Danyelle Welsh and Dylan Welsh of North Platte and Madonna Few of Texas; grandchildren, Mayson Dancer and Brooklynn Norton; brothers, JA Welsh (Tammie) of Hershey and Bob Welsh (Roxane) of Ogallala; his sister, Melinda Files (John) of Corpus Christi, TX; and other family.

Darin Welsh (1962-2023)

Stanley Harold Spomer, age 80, of McCook, NE passed away, surrounded by his family, on November 10, 2023 at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, Nebraska.&nbsp;

Stan was born on January 31, 1943, in Lincoln, NE to Victor Harold and Pauline Dorothy (Horn) Spomer.&nbsp; He graduated from Lincoln Southeast in 1960 and continued his education at Kearney State College, graduating with a Bachelor’s of Music Education in 1964.&nbsp; He received his Master’s in Music Education from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln in 1971.

On August 24, 1963, he was united in marriage to Judith Jane Price in Kearney. They moved to Sargent in 1964 where Stan was a music educator.&nbsp; In 1966 they moved to Neligh where Stan taught high school music. While living in Neligh, their two daughters, Trisha and Tracy, were born.&nbsp; In 1970, they relocated to McCook where Stan taught instrumental music in the McCook Public High School. &nbsp;In 1973, under his direction, the MHS band represented the state of Nebraska in the presidential inauguration parade in Washington DC.&nbsp; In 1976, Stan took the band to the Fiesta Bowl in Arizona.&nbsp; Later he transitioned to teach band at McCook Jr. High.

After leaving the McCook Public School System, he became an insurance agent and began the Town and Country Insurance Agency. He then worked for Marsh Insurance Agency and spent his final years prior to retirement at AmFirst Insurance Services.&nbsp; While working for AmFirst Insurance, he taught instrumental music lessons at rural schools, then became the high school band director at Beaver Valley Schools, and finally St. Patrick’s Elementary School until his retirement in May of 2007. Other ventures throughout his career include ownership of J&amp;S Liquor Store and roofing houses.

Stan’s hobbies included spending time at the lake, playing his trumpet, golfing, woodworking, traveling and following Husker football.&nbsp; He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Victor and Pauline Spomer and stepfather, Benjamin Deines.

Survivors include his wife Judy Spomer of McCook; two daughters Trisha Jane and husband Patrick Kind of Fort Collins, CO, and Tracy Marie and husband John Falconer of Kearney; five grandchildren including Spencer (Tabby) Kind of Sterling, CO, Tyler (special friend Anna Goodwin) of Loveland, CO, Carter Kind of Ft. Collins, CO, Lauren Falconer of Lincoln, NE and Megan Falconer of Omaha, NE; two great grandchildren, Bella Kind of Ft. Collins CO, and Parker Kind of Sterling CO; numerous relatives and a host of friends.

Stanley H. Spomer (1943-2023)

Roger H. Neal, 78, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away suddenly on Friday, November 10, 2023 at his home.

Roger was born on March 17, 1945 in North Platte the 2nd son of Harold and Maxine (Lancaster) Neal.&nbsp;

Roger graduated from McPherson County High School in Tryon, NE in 1963 and then attended for two years at Chadron State College. &nbsp;He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy on January 25, 1966 and served for four years during the Vietnam War, honorably discharged on December 31, 1969, 3rd Class Petty Officer. &nbsp;

Roger was married on March 17, 1978 in North Platte to Judith R. Gerken, together they expanded their family from Roger’s son from a previous marriage to another son and daughter from Judith’s previous marriage. &nbsp;Roger spent most of his career with the Union Pacific railroad as a pipefitter and retired in 2011 after 30 years of service. &nbsp;

The first thing Roger purchased after his discharge from the Navy was a saddle. Thus began his great love of roping and riding horses and spending time in the great outdoors. &nbsp;He was a member of the following roping and rodeo organizations: &nbsp;Tryon roping club, Lake Maloney roping club, NSRA and Mid-States rodeo, and USTRA. &nbsp;He was also a member of the North Platte Eagles and Moose clubs. &nbsp;Roger loved watching his kids rodeo, roping with his family, and especially watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s many activities. &nbsp;Roger and Judy raised cocker spaniels for over 10 years. &nbsp;Following retirement Roger enjoyed camping and fishing with his best friends the Kallhoff’s and Odean’s. &nbsp;He also enjoyed keeping busy and tinkering around his garage and keeping his yard nice. &nbsp;Roger was an avid Husker football fan, and never turned down a chance to meet friends and family out for super and go to the horseraces on occasion. &nbsp;He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish Roger’s memory are his wife of 45 years, Judy; daughter, Tina (Lynn) Pyzer of North Platte; sons, Tim (Amy) Ham of Hershey, Pat Neal of TX; grandchildren, McKenzie Dowse and Tel (Danneeka) Pyzer; great grandchildren, Hayden, Hudson, Hadlynn, Heaton, and Huckley; brother, Larry (Sharon) Neal of North Platte; nephews, Scott (Robyn) Neal and Tim Neal; special friends, Pat and Diane Kallhoff, and Kim and Ellen Odean; as well as many other special relatives and friends. &nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Maxine Neal; infant twin brothers.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Pastor Shanon Williams officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. with military honors at Fort McPherson National Veterans Cemetery near Maxwell. Visitation and viewing will be from 1:00 to 7:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 14th at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.&nbsp;

Gerken, together they expanded their family from Roger’s son from a previous marriage to another son and daughter from Judith’s previous marriage. &nbsp;Roger spent most of his career with the Union Pacific railroad as a pipefitter and retired in 2011 after 30 years of service. &nbsp;The first thing Roger purchased after his discharge from the Navy was a saddle. Thus began his great love of roping and riding horses and spending time in the great outdoors. &nbsp;He was a member of the following roping and rodeo organizations: &nbsp;Tryon roping club, Lake Maloney roping club, NSRA and Mid-States rodeo, and USTRA. &nbsp;He was also a member of the North Platte Eagles and Moose clubs. &nbsp;Roger loved watching his kids rodeo, roping with his family, and especially watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s many activities. &nbsp;Roger and Judy raised cocker spaniels for over 10 years. &nbsp;Following retirement Roger enjoyed camping and fishing with his best friends the Kallhoff’s and Odean’s. &nbsp;He also enjoyed keeping busy and tinkering around his garage and keeping his yard nice. &nbsp;Roger was an avid Husker football fan, and never turned down a chance to meet friends and family out for super and go to the horseraces on occasion. &nbsp;He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.Those left to cherish Roger’s memory are his wife of 45 years, Judy; daughter, Tina (Lynn) Pyzer of North Platte; sons, Tim (Amy) Ham of Hershey, Pat Neal of TX; grandchildren, McKenzie Dowse and Tel (Danneeka) Pyzer; great grandchildren, Hayden, Hudson, Hadlynn, Heaton, and Huckley; brother, Larry (Sharon) Neal of North Platte; nephews, Scott (Robyn) Neal and Tim Neal; special friends, Pat and Diane Kallhoff, and Kim and Ellen Odean; as well as many other special relatives and friends. &nbsp;He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Maxine Neal; infant twin brothers.Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Pastor Shanon Williams officiating. Clara Leola (Stevenson) Mooney was born November 2nd, 1925 on a farm in Frontier Country, south of Eustis, Nebraska to Harry and Edith Stevenson. Leola made her departure&nbsp;peacefully at her home of 66 years in Norwalk, California on October 26th, 2023.

In 1926, Harry, Edith, and Leola moved to Cooper Ranch north of Holbrook, Nebraska and that is where&nbsp;it all began. Leola was an only child that was very dedicated to her education before play time, and as some of you have heard over the years Leola was the first child in Holbrook to own a football. Starting at a young&nbsp;age Leola made lifelong friends, graduating&nbsp;with her best friend, Leona in 1943, from Holbrook High School. At the age of 18 Leola began her journey into the education system, becoming a country school teacher.

At the age of 25 Leola had met the love of her life, Nic, and relocated to Compton California, before relocating to their current home in Norwalk California. Nic and Leola were united in marriage on April 6th, 1952 at the Baptist&nbsp;Church in Holbrook, Nebraska. They welcomed their one and only son Rockie.

Leola loved to travel, and was always ready for a road&nbsp;trip, she always looked&nbsp;forward to the summer trips back to Nebraska. Over the years Leola enjoyed spending&nbsp;time at The Arapahoe Senior Center, Arapahoe Nursing home, and Prairie Pines, playing cards and catching up with old friends. Leola loved to crochet, embroidery, quilt, dance and listen to the oldies. She also enjoyed spending time in the kitchen cooking and baking.

Leola was Dedicated to her job NLMUSD for 48 years, before retiring in 2009 at the age of 84. Over the years she was well known for her service&nbsp;to her community of Norwalk, leading hand at the senior centers, cooking for bingo nights, and candle light dinners. Leola took place in several organizations over the years, and was also very involved in PTA.

Leola was preceded in death by both of her parents, and her husband Nic, and her Grandson Lorn Mooney. Survived by her son Rockie, and grandson Nic and Daniel all of Norwalk California.&nbsp;

Dawn Lee Joeckel, 68, of Callaway, Nebraska, formerly of Taylor, Texas, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on February 7, 1955 in Denver, Colorado, to Neil and Shirley (Schaffroth) Harmon. Her family lived in various places before she attended school in Clear Lake, Texas and graduated from Clear Lake High School with the class of 1973. She then went on to further her education at a local Community College.

In 1977, Dawn married her high school sweetheart, Frank Yates. One daughter was blessed to this union: Brooke. They made their home in Webster, Texas and were married for 4 years.

Dawn moved to Denver, Colorado and was united in marriage to Tim Joeckel in 1985. Three children were blessed to this union: Whitney, Sunny and Chance. Tim and Dawn lived in Colorado until 1988 when they moved and made their home in Callaway, Nebraska. While living in Callaway, Dawn was a florist and also worked for Robert Edgington at the Right Drug Store. In 1999, the family moved to Woodland Park, Colorado where Dawn worked in Estate Planning.&nbsp; In 2010, they followed Brooke to Texas where they settled in Taylor, before she moved back to Callaway two months ago when her health started to decline.

Dawn will be remembered best for the way she made others feel.&nbsp; She was a great listener, trustworthy, and easy to talk to.&nbsp; She had a way of making you feel like you were the only person in the room, and had a healing touch.&nbsp; She was nonjudgmental, kind-hearted, had a big smile and wonderful, infectious laugh.&nbsp; She loved flowers and interior design, was great with makeup and fashion, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her children, Brooke (Henry) Moore of Callaway, Whitney (Jake) Roehl of Belton, Texas, Sunny (Dylan) Malan of Callaway and Chance Joeckel of Marble Falls, Texas; three grandchildren, Raven and Willow Malan and Maverick Roehl; one brother, Mark (Lisa) Harmon of Littleton, Colorado; three sisters, Laura (Bob) Bramhall of Littleton, Colorado, Mary Bartos of San Antonio, Texas, and Teddi (Paul) McDonald of Dallas, Texas; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Dawn was preceded in death by her husband, Tim and best friend, Joan Osterhoudt.

A Celebration Of Life Service will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Callaway United Methodist Church with Jake Roehl, officiating.

There will be no visitation, as the family is honoring Dawn’s wish for cremation.

Dawn Lee Joeckel (1955-2023)

Choyce Chance Deuerlein, 21, of North Platte, passed away November 5, 2023. He was born on January 21, 2002 in Lincoln to Robert L. and Tassie (Keys) Deuerlein.

Choyce graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 2020. He participated in football and wrestling and loved sports. Choyce worked at Love’s Truck Stop as a tire tech and was currently working as a diesel mechanic there.

"Choyce has a smile that makes you just smile. Choyce has a laugh that makes his absences irritable. He always made people laugh, smile, cause anyone's day to light up right when he walks in the room. My brother was brave, but mental illness got in the way. My sweet brother didn't deserve this. His memory and the lives he touched will forever be remembered. The impact he had upon others, the love he showed others, and the forgiveness he had, taught others. The most brilliant, patient, kind hearted, thoughtful man I could ever know. I am so glad to call you, my brother. Never to be forgotten.'

Choyce Chance Deuerlein (2002-2023)

On November 11, 2023, at the age of 71, Weston "Wes" Andre-Henn peacefully passed away at his home in North Platte, NE.

Wes was born July 17, 1952, to John and Ruth Henn in Bethlehem, PA, where he grew up. &nbsp;He graduated from Liberty High School then received his B.A. from Mansfield State College in Pennsylvania and later, his Master's Degree from Kearney State Teaching College. &nbsp;

Wes had a long career in teaching and being a school counselor for North Platte Public Schools. He was also past president of the N.P. Teachers Association.

In 1992, Wes married Krysten Andre in North Platte where they made their home together. &nbsp; &nbsp;

Wes was kind and giving. &nbsp;He was a longtime blood donor and loved reading and walking barefoot on the beach. &nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jackie; and brother-in-law, Dale Koch.

Wes is survived by his wife, Krysten Andre-Henn, and parents-in-law, Bernard and Sharen Andre, and sister-in-law, Michelle Andre, all of North Platte; brothers-in-law, Michael (Kathy) Andre, of Beaverton, OR, Terry (Shelly) Andre of Lincoln and David (Brenda) Andre of Madison Lake, MN; his sister, Beverly Koch of Bethlehem, PA; and other family.

Wes Andre-Henn (1952-2023)

Barbara J. Harrop, 88, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away peacefully on Friday, November 10, 2023 at The Maples at Centennial Park Nursing Home.

Barbara was born on December 12, 1934 in North Platte, NE the daughter of John A. and Hazel A. (Johnasen) Hupfer.

Barb graduated from North Platte high school and lived for most of her life in North Platte except for 12 years in Colorado. She was married briefly and had two daughters, Caroline and Elaine. She met her 2nd husband Russell W. Harrop, and they were married on August 1, 1968 in Blair, NE. Russell passed away on March 25, 1993. Barb worked for a short time as a waitress in various local restaurants and in local school cafeterias. She was quite a character who spoke her mind and was known for her fiery red hair in her younger years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in North Platte, North Platte Moose Lodge Auxiliary, and the VFW Auxiliary. Her greatest love was animals, especially her beloved dogs and cats.

Those left to cherish Barb’s memory are daughters, Caroline Kiger and Elaine Leighton; 3 grandchildren; brothers, Tom Hupfer (Bobbie Sue) of Arkansas, and Richard Hupfer (Julie) of North Platte; as well as many special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hazel Hupfer; husband, Russell; infant sister, Caroline Hupfer; and brother, John Hupfer.

Ternie Carroll (Caulfield) Wright age 75 of Broken Bow, passed away at Bergan Mercy Hospital of Omaha on November 9, 2023.

Ternie Wright was born April 21, 1948, to James and Betty Caulfield in Valentine, Nebraska. She attended school in Winner, SD, and graduated high school from Oconto, NE in 1966. On January 21, 1972, Ternie was united in marriage to Laron Wright. Ternie was the owner of Bow Agency and Bow Tax and Accounting in Broken Bow for 55 years. Ternie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a past Board Member of Healing Hearts and Families. Ternie loved flowers, especially roses. She also enjoyed rodeo and horses.

Ternie Wright (1948-2023)

Henrietta Mae Blue, 97, departed from this life on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Highland Park Care Center in Alliance, Nebraska.&nbsp;

Henrietta Mae Blue was born October 7, 1926, in Sutherland, Nebraska, the daughter of Ira and Florence (VanMeter) Huffman.

Henrietta attended rural school District 8 in Arthur County through the eighth grade. She attended Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis for her first two years of high school and then attended North Platte High School, where she graduated in 1944. She was employed with several businesses, including Ely-Hoppe Lumber Co. in North Platte from 1949-1952. In 1952, Henrietta was chosen as Miss Buffalo Bill Rodeo Queen at North Platte.

On October 19, 1952, Henrietta was united in marriage to Roy B. O’Mara. The couple resided on the Spade Ranch near Ellsworth, Nebraska, where they were employed by Lawrence Bixby. In February 1953, they moved to the Swan Lake Ranch in Arthur County. A few months later, they moved to the east part of Swan Lake Ranch and resided on the Parsons, located in McPherson County. They were there until December 1957, when they returned to Swan Lake. Four children were born to Roy and Henrietta: Connie, William, Patrick, and Randy.

After Roy passed away in July of 1978, Henrietta continued to manage the ranch until 1988 when she then moved to Ogallala, Nebraska. After moving away from the ranch life, she was employed as a housekeeper for Lowel “Buck” Barrett and then later on as a cook for Haythorn Land &amp; Cattle Company at Ackley Valley from 1989 to 1991.

On June 6, 1992, Henrietta was united in marriage to Kenneth Blue and was married for 24 years. In January 2017, Henrietta moved to Alliance to be closer to her family. She continued to live by herself in an apartment until July 2023, when she moved to Highland Park Care Center.

Ranch life was Henrietta’s greatest desire, working both in the home and outdoors. She enjoyed cooking as well as all the duties involved with ranch life. She especially loved her milk cows and chickens. Henrietta loved helping and taking care of people.

Henrietta attended the Methodist Church in North Platte, Arthur Baptist Church, Ogallala St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Alliance Methodist Church, and Lakeside Church. Henrietta was a member of the Helping Hand Club and Does Drove #252.

Henrietta loved following her grandchildren, Megan Messersmith and Rory de Ganahl to their school activities and later following her great-grandchildren in their school and 4-H activities.

Preceding her in death were her parents, both husbands, brother Marvin Huffman and wife Loree, sister Emma Melvin and husband DeWayne, son William (Dr. Bill), nephew Wayne Melvin, niece Carol Moran and nephew Jim Huffman.

She is survived by her daughter Connie (Chris) de Ganahl of Lakeside Nebraska, son Pat (Pam) O’Mara of Glendale, Arizona, and son Randy O’Mara of Mitchell, Nebraska. Grandchildren: Megan (Tyler) Messersmith of Hayes Center, Nebraska, and Rory (Kelsey) de Ganahl of Lakeside, Nebraska. Great grandchildren: Ava, June, Paige and Brooke Messersmith, Margot and Roger de Ganahl, and all her special nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, November 20th, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at The Arthur Baptist Church in Arthur, Nebraska. Pastor Greg Reed of Lakeside Methodist Church of Lakeside, Nebraska, and Rev. Blake Wilkes of Arthur Baptist Church of Arthur, Nebraska will be officiating.

Inurnment will take place on Monday, November 20th, 2023 in the Arthur Cemetery in Arthur, Nebraska.

Henrietta Mae Blue (1926-2023)

Thomas "Tom" Bailey of North Platte passed away November 8, 2023, at Great Plains Health at the age of 63.

Tom was born December 14, 1959, to Cecil and Kathleen Bailey at North Platte, where he grew up. &nbsp;After graduating from NPHS in 1978, Tom moved to Philadelphia for a while then returned to North Platte. &nbsp;He worked at Cash-Wa Distributing then hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad and retired as an Engineer.

On June 20, 1989, Tom married Yvonne Kay Ahrens in North Platte where they resided and raised a family. &nbsp;Tom enjoyed fishing and following his kids in their various activities. &nbsp;He is gone too soon and will be forever loved and missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kathleen and Cecil, and brothers, Mike and Greg Bailey.

Tom is survived by his wife, Yvonne, children, Drew and Kyla Bailey, and brothers, Pat Bailey (Wende) and Kelley Bailey (Janean Dorram), all of North Platte; his sisters, Brenda Deertz (Neil) of North Platte, Lisa Johns (Mark) of Chicago and Sharyl Poletti (Dave) of Philadelphia; as well as other family.

Tom Bailey (1959-2023)

Ruth E. Fagot, 94, of McCook, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, Nebraska with her loving family by her side.

She was born on November 22, 1928, in Milford, Nebraska to Roland and Harriet (Weaver) Miller. Ruth graduated from Milford High School with the class of 1946. She then moved on to complete two years at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. On April 10, 1949, Ruth was united in marriage to Francis Fagot in Milford, Nebraska. Three children were blessed to this union: Kathy, Annette, and Craig. The family made their home north of Lexington where Ruth focused her efforts on caring for the home and raising their children.

Ruth had many hobbies including knitting, sewing, creating beautiful art work and reading. She loved getting to spend time at Johnson Lake with her family and friends where she could do some yoga and work on her journaling. Ruth was also a faithful member of many organizations including the Chapter GR P.E.O., Studio 25, The Lexington Painting Club, ART Club, Bridge and Supper Club. Ruth was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Lexington.

Those left to celebrate her life are her children, Kathy (Mike) Hockley of Overland Park, Kansas, Annette (Russ) Eisenhart of Culbertson, Nebraska, Craig Forester (Sarah Darby) of Omaha, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Virgene Forest of Denton, Texas, grandchildren, Chris Hockley (Claire Sheahan), Anne (Ira) Crofford, John (Abbie) Eisenhart, Ben (Bonnie) Eisenhart, Andrea Eisenhart, and Rachel Forester; great-grandchildren, Simon, Josephine, Nell, Nolan, Georgette, Samuel, Beau, and Paige.

Carol Jeanette Hencey, 87,&nbsp;went to her heavenly home on November 7, 2023 at Life Care Center in Longmont, CO.

Carol was a woman of faith, who loved the Lord, her family and friends.

Carol was born June 4, 1936, in Gothenburg, NE.&nbsp; She graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1954.&nbsp;

She met the love of her life, Garey Wagner Hencey, in 1957.&nbsp; They married on January 19, 1958.&nbsp; Together, they were blessed with six children.&nbsp; Their life adventure took them to many places, including Oregon, California, Florida and Colorado.

Carol loved being a wife and mother.&nbsp; She dedicated her life to serving others.&nbsp;

She enjoyed celebrating any special day or event with family.&nbsp; She particularly enjoyed going to all of their sports events.&nbsp; Carol had a unique gift of creating beautiful handmade crafts, which she gifted to many.

Carol’s Christian faith was an essential part of her life.&nbsp; She loved Jesus and lived a life full of the fruits of the spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, and Gentleness.

Carol is survived by her children Ron, Mike, Michelle, Brenda, Brad and Pam, 12 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren.

Carol Hencey (1936-2023)

Lareen M. Jacobson, 93, of North Platte, NE passed away on November 8th at the Mount Carmel – Keens Memorial Home in Kearney, NE.

Lareen was born to Henry L. and Mary (Moore) Wiest on September 4, 1930, in Hazard, NE.&nbsp;

Lareen graduated from Kearney High School in 1947 and worked for several years as a secretary with Consumers Public Power. She married Wes Jacobson on July 25, 1953, in Kearney, NE at St. James Catholic Church and together they were blessed with and raised four sons: Jon, Tom, Dan, and Doug. Lareen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker for most of her life. She and Wes started their married life together in Kearney but then lived in North Platte for approximately five years until Wes was transferred to McCook in the early 1960’s. They also lived in Ogallala for six years before moving back to North Platte in 1972. Lareen was a devout Catholic and member of Holy Spirit Catholic parish in North Platte and she enjoyed canning hundreds of pints of vegetables from their garden every year. Lareen also enjoyed baking, sewing, painting ceramics, and traveling in their RV, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish Lareen’s memory are her four sons: Jon Jacobson of North Platte, Tom (his wife Ann) Jacobson of North Platte, Dan (his wife Stephanie) Jacobson of Overland Park, KS, and Doug (his wife Joan) Jacobson of Kuna, ID; 11 grandchildren: Patrick and his wife, Caitlyn, Rebecca and her husband, Andy Miller, Austin and his wife, Rachel, Brian, Courtney, Ashley, Danielle and her husband Alex Verdoni, Erin and her husband Noah Stolz, Danielle and her husband Blake Seever, Karli and her husband Matt Trudeau, Lindsey and Molly; great-grandchildren: Gracie, Jacob, and Owen Miller (Rebecca), Cecelia, Azelia, and Gianna Jacobson (Austin) and Jesse Seever (Danielle); and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wes “Jake”, sister, Delores Peckman and brothers, Milford, Harland, and the Rev. Robert Wiest.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on November 13th at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Father Vidya Sagar Arikotla as celebrant. Burial will follow on a later date at the Fort McPherson National Veterans Cemetery near Maxwell. She married Wes Jacobson on July 25, 1953, in Kearney, NE at St. James Catholic Church and together they were blessed with and raised four sons: Jon, Tom, Dan, and Doug. Lareen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker for most of her life. She and Wes started their married life together in Kearney but then lived in North Platte for approximately five years until Wes was transferred to McCook in the early 1960’s. They also lived in Ogallala for six years before moving back to North Platte in 1972. Lareen was a devout Catholic and member of Holy Spirit Catholic parish in North Platte and she enjoyed canning hundreds of pints of vegetables from their garden every year. Lareen also enjoyed baking, sewing, painting ceramics, and traveling in their RV, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.Those left to cherish Lareen’s memory are her four sons: Jon Jacobson of North Platte, Tom (his wife Ann) Jacobson of North Platte, Dan (his wife Stephanie) Jacobson of Overland Park, KS, and Doug (his wife Joan) Jacobson of Kuna, ID; 11 grandchildren: Patrick and his wife, Caitlyn, Rebecca and her husband, Andy Miller, Austin and his wife, Rachel, Brian, Courtney, Ashley, Danielle and her husband Alex Verdoni, Erin and her husband Noah Stolz, Danielle and her husband Blake Seever, Karli and her husband Matt Trudeau, Lindsey and Molly; great-grandchildren: Gracie, Jacob, and Owen Miller (Rebecca), Cecelia, Azelia, and Gianna Jacobson (Austin) and Jesse Seever (Danielle); and many nieces, nephews and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wes “Jake”, sister, Delores Peckman and brothers, Milford, Harland, and the Rev. Broken Bow, NE – Barbara Pomplun age 90 of Broken Bow, NE passed away November 7, 2023, at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, NE

Barbara Jean "Barb" Pomplun, 90, of Broken Bow passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

Barb was born June 21, 1933, in Grand Island, NE. to&nbsp;F.&nbsp;E. "Steve" and Naomi A. 0. "Pat" Stephenson. Steve was appointed as manager of Northwestern Bell office in Ogallala, NE and the family moved there when Barb was 2 weeks old. When Barb was 3 years old the family moved to Broken Bow when Steve was appointed manager of the Northwestern Bell office there.

Barb loved horses and at a young age got her horse, Flicka. She also loved dogs and had many in her lifetime.

Barb attended school in Broken Bow and graduated with the Class of 1951. She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart David W. "Pete" Pomplun on September 21, 1952, and to this union two children Cindy and Jerry were born.

Barb was a very accomplished pianist. She accompanied the choir while in high school, many local soloists played at the Methodist Church and taught piano lessons in their home for many years.

She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church and Eastern Star. Over the years she was very involved in Cindy and Jerry's activities, teaching Sunday School, leading Scouts, and being at all the events.

Barb's working career included secretarial and sales clerk positions. But her favorite job was with Northwestern Bell where she started after graduation as a telephone operator in Broken Bow with her Dad as her boss. She took a break when Cindy &amp; Jerry were small but went back to work with Northwestern Bell and held several different positions in Broken Bow before transferring to Omaha where she continued to work until she retired.

Barb loved spending time with her family, watching their activities, fishing, boating, gardening ' playing the piano, watching all Nebraska Cornhusker spo1ts and just being outside.

Barb is survived by daughter Cindy (Kent) Taylor of Broken Bow; son Jerry Pomplun of Oconto, NE; six grandchildren Jess (Amy) Taylor, Andy (Sadye) Taylor all of Broken Bow, Jami (Shay) Robinson of Elm Creek, NE; Shelby (Brad) Mayer of Grant NE; Micah (Jayme) Pomplun of Doniphan, NE; and Kirby (Shannon) Pomplun of Broken Bow; twenty great-grandchildren;

sister-in-law Bessie McMurtry of Lyman, NE; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Pete and her parents Steve and Pat Stephenson. Funeral services will be on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow, NE with Pastor Phil Sloat officiating. Lunch following the service, followed by a private family burial at the Broken Bow Township Cemetery.

Barbara Pomplun (1933-2023)

Kim Ann Rouse, age 60, of McCook, NE passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023 in Lincoln, NE.

Kim was born May 3, 1963 in McCook to parents Rhinholdt G and Eileen Mabel (Lehl) Loose. She was one of two siblings who was raised in McCook, graduating from McCook High School with the Class of 1981.

On May 26, 1998, Kim married Terry Rouse in Las Vegas. The couple made their home in McCook where Kim worked alongside Terry at Kildare Lumber for many years. Kim loved the work trips she took with Terry, spending time with friends, music and dancing, her cat, Charlie and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Kim held a deep faith in God.

Kim was preceded in death by parents; husband, Terry Rouse; and two brothers, Randy Loose and Terry Loose.

Those left to celebrate her life include her sister in law, Cheryl Loose of Blue Springs, MO; coworkers and lifelong friends.

Ryan Earl Reeves, 58, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away on November 4, 2023, at his residence. He was born in San Bernardino, California, on September 16, 1965, to loving parents, Dennis and Diana (Rogers) Reeves.

Ryan's early years were spent in Fontana, California, where he attended school and later graduated from Fontana High School. After graduating, he embarked on travels across the country. In 1985, he welcomed his daughter, Jennifer, into the world, an event that brought him immense and lasting pride.&nbsp;

One of Ryan's greatest joys was spending time with his parents, Dennis and Diana. He cherished his role as a great uncle, and enjoyed spending as much of his time with family as possible. In 2010, he made the decision to move to North Platte, where he could be closer to his beloved parents and family.&nbsp;

Ryan possessed a unique gift for storytelling, captivating those around him with his tales. Outside of social gatherings, he found pleasure in fishing, tending to gardens, and embracing the great outdoors. He was also an avid dog lover, finding solace and companionship in the company of his beloved pets.

Ryan is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Lesta Chavez; his siblings, Rick Reeves, and Rochelle (Jeff) Reinhard; eight nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews. He leaves behind a circle of family and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dennis Reeves and Diana (Rogers) Kirby, and his grandparents, Orlo and Verna Reeves, and Bob and Lena Lesta Rogers. The family suggests memorials for future designation, and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com.

On November 8, 2023, Felicitas “Phyllis” Serrano, passed away at Great Plains Health surrounded by the love of her family. &nbsp;She was born in New Braunfels, Texas, on November 2, 1933, to Gregorio and Leonarda (de la Cruz) Serrano.

Phyllis was born and raised in Texas and later moved to North Platte with her family. &nbsp;Phyllis was an outstanding aunt; she was the nurturer and mother figure to all of her nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, and was a big part of the individuals they have grown into. &nbsp;Phyllis was simple; she enjoyed the pure moments spent with her family. &nbsp;She loved shopping, especially at thrift stores and always made sure to have her “bee hive” hair and nails done. &nbsp;Phyllis was the central spot for all of the family; every year on Halloween, all the kids stopped by her house to collect their homemade popcorn balls. &nbsp;She also had seamstress skills and made the girls dresses every Easter and Christmas and she loved to cook; some of the favorite dishes being cheese chili, chicken and noodles, and rice and beans.

Family that is left to carry on the memories shared with Phyllis include her brother, John Serrano of North Platte; niece, Leann Serrano of North Platte; great nephew, Brennan Serrano of North Platte; niece, Georgina Fisher of North Platte; great nieces, Erica Silos and Sydney Silos of North Platte; nephew, Shawn (Johnna) Silos of North Platte; other nieces, nephews, and family.
