Wayne Wiley (1940-2023)

Gail Ellen Tagtmeyer, age 78, died in faith in her LORD, Jesus Christ, on November 29, 1923, at Northern Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, CO.

Gail was born June 11, 1945, to Albert Christian and Ella Marie (Kreinbring) Christensen in Sterling, Colorado.&nbsp; She attended grade school and high school in Sterling, graduating in 1963.&nbsp; Gail married; her son, Bruce Duane Wagner, was born on August 6, 1964.&nbsp; They lived in northern Nebraska for several years.&nbsp; After her divorce, she went back to Sterling.&nbsp; Gail was then employed for about twenty years by the Sterling Advocate Newspaper as a business manager.&nbsp;

On April 30, 1994, Gail was united in marriage to Louis Eugene Tagtmeyer at Peace Lutheran Church in Sterling, Colorado.&nbsp; Their first date was a drive around Lake McConaughy.&nbsp; The couple resided in the Ogallala area.&nbsp; Gail enjoyed her friends, puzzles, computers, and singing.&nbsp; She was a faithful member of the local and zone Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School in Ogallala.&nbsp; For over twenty-five years Gail served as a volunteer at St. Paul’s in various capacities, including, but not limited to: preschool, after-school, office helper, ladies' circle, and choir.&nbsp; For the past few years, she was employed by St. Paul’s as a school secretary to the head teacher, Dru Lutkehus.

She is survived by her husband, Louis; son, Bruce of Sterling; &nbsp;granddaughter, Prairie Rose (Nick) Morales of Sterling; pet dog, Shadow; Rick Lee Tagtmeyer, son-in-law, of Chappell;&nbsp; grandsons, Dillon Allen (Jamie) Tagtmeyer of Gordon, Austin Leroy (Rachel) Tagtmeyer of Mendon, NE; Weston Lee Tagtmeyer of Chappell; great-grandson Jackson Tagtmeyer of Gordon, NE;&nbsp; sisters, Sharon Ann Hamilton of Albuquerque, NM and Lila Johanna Moore of Sterling, CO;&nbsp; sister-in-law, Vida Rilley of Longmont, CO; brothers-in-law’s, Gary Tagtmeyer of South Port, NC and&nbsp; Henry (Alberta) Tagtmeyer of Seibert, CO.

Preceding Gail in death were her parents; Louis’ parents, Edmond and Ruby Rilla Tagtmeyer; sister-in-law, Nadine Willt and Norma Jean Standart.

A memorial service will be Thursday, December 7th, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School, Ogallala, NE with Rev. Albert Bader of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Rev. John Stubenrouch of Ogallala, Nebraska.

Inurnment will be at the Ogallala Cemetery, Ogallala, NE.

Gail Tagtmeyer (1945-2023)

Vincent Bradley "Brad" Lee, 64, of Glenrock, Wyoming passed Friday, November 3, 2023. He was the third son of Vincent and Patsy Lee of Elsie, Nebraska.

Brad was baptized into the Catholic Church and raised in Perkins County, Nebraska, in the farming community. He believed in hard work and appreciation for the land and animals. Brad was an active member in 4-H and a talented high school athlete.

He graduated from Elsie-Madrid High School in 1977 and NWKTC in 1979. Brad received a degree in Engineering and Drafting. During college, he met his faithful wife Ellen and they married June 30, 1979.

The newlyweds moved to Lexington, Nebraska, where they raised three children. Brad enjoyed gardening, loved dogs, and being involved with his children's extracurriculars including coaching, and as school board president. Brad had a 20+ year career at Orthman Manufacturing before beginning a decade-long business partnership with his brother Mike, building custom homes in Glenrock, Wyoming. He also enjoyed woodworking, attending rodeos, helping friends and family, and working cattle back on the Lee Brothers Farm in Elsie each spring.

An avid outdoorsman, Brad spent time hunting and fishing with his father, brothers, and nephews. What he really loved most was the chance to spend time with and spoil his grandkids, sharing his love of animals and the outdoors.

Tragically, Brad suffered a massive stroke in September 2011, which forever changed everything. The lingering effects of his traumatic brain injury ultimately lead to the steady deterioration in Brad's overall health and life.

Brad is survived by his wife, Ellen; father, Vincent; three children and their spouses, Casey and Tristan, Mitch and Ryan, and Tara; his three siblings, Dan, Mike, and Susie; five grandkids, Ada, Ruby, Bradley, Xavier, and Charlie; and many nieces and nephews.

Brad Lee (1959-2023)

Lee Cundall, 95 of Ogallala passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.&nbsp;

He was born on July 20, 1928, to Walter and Myrtle (Shillington) Cundall in Douglas, Wyoming.&nbsp; He was raised on the main Cundall Ranch along the North Platte River east of Glendo, Wyoming.&nbsp; In the early years, the family raised registered Herefords, in later years they transitioned to a yearling operation. Even though he wintered in Arizona, and lived in Nebraska in later years, he was a proud Wyoming Rancher.&nbsp; When the Glendo Dam was built, it covered much of the original homestead and Lee’s family moved to the East part of the Ranch and continued ranching.

Lee was one of the original Rural Fire Wardens when the county formed rural fire districts around Glendo and was on many rural fires over the years.

He was on the Glendo School Board for many years and was proud to be a leader in the community.

Lee enjoyed people and had many friends.&nbsp; He enjoyed fishing, playing cribbage, golfing, helping friends and neighbors, and spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.

&nbsp;He was always up for a good joke on his friends. Once even setting a trap for Santa but only catching his old black boot, much to the consternation of his sons.

Survivors include his wife Frances, of Ogallala children, Dan (Kathleen) Cundall, of Pinewood Springs, CO, Larry (Ruthie) Cundall of Douglas, WY, Mark Cundall of Round Rock, TX, and Robin (Rodger) Rankin of Ogallala.&nbsp; 4 Grandsons; Shane (Jaime) Cundall of Windsor, CO, Andy (Stef) Cole of Ogallala, Kyle (Shannon) Rankin of Omaha, Bryan (Yuri) Cole of Ogallala, 4 Granddaughters; Danielle (Jon Paul) Burden of Severance, CO, Angela (Ryan) Segelke of Minden, NE, Elisabeth Jones of Kyle, TX, Belle Cundall of Round Rock, TX, and 13 great grandchildren.&nbsp; His Stepchildren; Kenneth (Nancy) Bruckner, Mike (Dianne) Bruckner, Lynn (Julie) Bruckner.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Jean Cundall in 2007.&nbsp; Also, his brother Glen, in 1998, and Sister Ruth, in 1968.&nbsp; He would also say at the ripe age of 95, almost all of his old friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 7, 2023, with family meeting friends from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. &nbsp;at Draucker Funeral Home Chapel, Ogallala, NE.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 8, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. at Draucker Funeral Home Chapel in Ogallala, NE with Pastor Bobby Brueggeman of The Church of Christ of Ogallala, NE, and Pastor Tim Millikin of the Circle G Cowboy Church of Glendo, WY.

Lee R. Cundall (1928-2023)

Robert “Bob” Holmes, 62, of Oshkosh passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 29, 2023 at the Regional West Garden County Hospital after a battle with ALS.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2023 at the Oshkosh Wesleyan Church with Pastor Bruce Neal officiating.&nbsp; &nbsp;Burial in the Ogallala Cemetery will be held at a later date.

The funeral service will be streamed live via the Holechek-Bondegard Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/hbfunerals) and available to watch after the service.

Per Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation at the funeral home.&nbsp;

Robert was born in Weiser, Idaho and attended grade school and high school there.&nbsp; When he was 18, he joined the Navy and had many exciting experiences visiting the Orient.

After he left the Navy, he had many different jobs and interests.&nbsp; He worked for the cable company, did cooking in several restaurants, but his dad convinced him to be his co-driver with May Trucking.&nbsp; He enjoyed traveling the 48 states and working with his dad.

In 1987, he married and had 2 daughters.&nbsp; While married he moved to Ogallala and within the first year there he got his LPN from Mid-Plains Community College and worked at several nursing homes in the area.&nbsp; After a few years he returned to truck driving with Hinz Trucking.&nbsp;

1999 to 2009 was a period of wandering and discovery, then he returned to the Good Life in Nebraska and went to work at Regional West Garden County Nursing Home.&nbsp; He was devoted to his work and patients.&nbsp; He kept a bowl of chocolate kisses to brighten the residents’ days.

He loved his daughters and grandsons and shared many holidays together.&nbsp; Bob enjoyed living in the country and all 6 of his farm cats.

He will be missed by all his family and friends.&nbsp;

He is survived by his daughters: Sarah (Kyle) Sybrant and Ruth (Eric) Mecham; son, Jason Holmes; 3 grandsons, Leon and Kaleb Sybrant and Cyler Mecham; mother, Valita Johnson; brothers, Jeff and Scott Holmes; sister, Rhonda Cudaback; close friend and companion, Pam Raymer and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his dad, Ronald Holmes and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Ethel (Reynoldson) Cook passed away in the early hours, on November 29, 2023 at the age of 91.

Ethel was born near St. Edward on October 1, 1932 to Clarence and Alpharetta (Brock) Reynoldson. &nbsp;She attended school at District 9 through the 10th grade. &nbsp;Ethel graduated from Albion High School with the class of 1949. &nbsp;She graduated from Wayne State and Kearney State.

Ethel married Edwin J. Cook on May 16, 1955 at Belgrade, NE. &nbsp;She taught school for six years in rural schools in Boone County, four years in the North Platte schools and 28 years at Maxwell Public School, retiring in 1995. &nbsp;

Ethel was a member of the United Methodist Church at Brady and a member of the UMW.

Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin; brothers, Verne, Lawrence, and Merle Reynoldson; sister, Leone Green; many wonderful sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Ethel is survived by her children, Lois (Brian) Lund of Casper, WY, Leon (Kristi) Cook of Dunlap, TN, Sandra (Michael) Ries of Malcolm, NE; grandchildren, Cameron and Erin Lund, Tyler and Haley Cook, Trent and Jason Ries; great grandchild, Ryder Ries; many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

On November 28, 2023, Danny Eugene DeWolf, aged 60, passed away at his home. &nbsp;He was born to Donald and Carol (Fisher) DeWolf in North Platte on November 12, 1963.

Danny was raised in North Platte and graduated in 1981 from North Platte High School. &nbsp;While in high school, he worked at Tomahawk as a cook. &nbsp;Upon graduating, he went to work at Roger’s, where he was employed until their closing in 2011. &nbsp;He then went on to work as a cook at North Platte Care Center until his passing. &nbsp;Danny was blessed with two children, Jeremy and Randisa.

Throughout his life, Danny could be described as simple. &nbsp;He was always calm and relaxed and enjoyed the small, simple things in life. &nbsp;Danny loved his Ham Radios and was known for his Ham Radio name, “W0DED”. &nbsp;With 32 years of sobriety, he was heavily involved in the AA organizations within the community and could often be found with a cup of coffee at one of the local meetings. &nbsp;Danny rooted for the Dallas Cowboys, the New York Yankees, and his grandchildren whom he loved so much. &nbsp;

Family that will forever hold his memory close include his children, Jeremy DeWolf of Lincoln, and Randisa Purvis of North Platte; parents, Donald and Carol DeWolf of North Platte; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; brother, Gary (Verna) DeWolf of Iowa, Dawn (Tony) Pitner of North Platte; closest buddy, Kevin Curtis; other family and friends.

Foster age, 83, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away at the CHI Good Samaritan Health in Kearney on November 20, 2023.&nbsp; He was born in Cambridge, Nebraska on November 13, 1940, to Loyal and Winifred (Sexton) Foster.&nbsp; Jim attended school in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1958.&nbsp; He was inducted in the United States Army on October 22, 1962, and was Honorably Discharged on October 21, 1969.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Jim was united in marriage to Beverly Hansen at the Bartley Christian Church in Bartley in 1966.&nbsp; The couple celebrated 57 years of marriage.&nbsp; Jim was employed at the Roberts Cattle Company for 39 years as the mill operator.&nbsp; He later worked for Davis Energy for eight years, where he delivered gas and serviced cars.&nbsp; He was a shade tree mechanic and bowled as his hobby. &nbsp;Jim was a regular at the YMCA walking many miles around the track, sometime two miles a day. He enjoyed visiting with those that came into the “Y”.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Loyal and Winifred; twin sons, Larry and Lonnie; brother, John (Charlene) Foster, and sister, Alice (Darrell) Wulf.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Survivors include his wife, Beverly of Lexington; sons, Gary (Vicki) Foster of Hutchinson, Kansas and Terry Foster of Omaha, Nebraska; as well as his grandchildren, Kendall and Jamison Foster.

Charles enjoyed train memorabilia, cooking with a Dutch oven, hunting, fishing, the great outdoors, and golf in retirement.

Charles was preceded in death by a son Dan in 2020, and his parents Harold and Eunice.

Charles is survived by his significant other Dixie Nielsen of Broken Bow, children Stacy Kleinjan of Hastings, Justin Mandelko of Miller, and Ryleigh Lindstrom of Broken Bow, eight grandchildren: Dana, Alex, Natala, Matthew, Jacob, Kaleb, Brick, and Heather; two brothers: Don Mandelko of Whitney, Marty Mandelko of Chadron; and two sisters: Connie James of Ankeny, IA, and Shelly Mandelko of Tampa, FL.

Gregory D. Allen, aged 51, of Arnold, passed away on November 26, 2023 at Great Plains Health in North Platte. He was born on July 12, 1972, to Arleata Joan and Harold Duane Allen in Salina, Kansas. He graduated from Cameron High School in 1991 in Cameron, Missouri.

On September 9, 1995, Greg married Rebecca (Lowrey) Chessmore. To this marriage, six children were born: Brittanya, Geoffery, Brooklynn, Gillian, Brenden and Gwendolen Allen, giving Greg’s oldest son, Dakota, six younger siblings. The couple divorced in October 2012.

During his life, Greg joined the military and moved from Missouri and Nebraska numerous times. He worked many jobs and claimed the title “jack of all trades”, however, the most memorable job was working for his grandfather, Wilbur and Uncle Steve buying used Levi jeans. &nbsp; Greg enjoyed fishing and camping with his children. He also enjoyed the holidays with his children, his favorite being Halloween, the same as his mother's. &nbsp;He was always willing to go out of his way to help friends and family as much as he could. If you needed a place to sleep or eat, he would happily open his door to you.

Greg is preceded in death by his parents; son, Geoffery; sister, Trina; two uncles; his paternal and maternal grandparents; and two cousins.

Michael was raised in the Thunder Hills Area in Oceanside, Ca. He attended Casita Cougars Elementary, Washington Middle School, and Vista High School.&nbsp; Michael later moved to North Platte, Ne and worked at the Horse Plant, Masonite, Parker Hannifin, and recently at Super Suds Car Wash.&nbsp; Michael enjoyed being a DJ, listening to music, barbeques, spending time with his daughter Alisa, with his family &amp; friends, and his dog Lugz.

Michael is survived by his daughter, Alisa Rivera; mom, Rebecca Castaneda; brothers, Rudy Rivera and John Rivera (Patty Rivera); sister, Alicia Rivera; nieces, Chantal Gutierrez and Sabrina Rivera; nephew, Anthony Rivera; and great nephews, William and Oliver Arnold.

He is preceded in death by his dad and grandparents.

Deanna Kay Morgan, age 70, passed away at the Hillcrest Care Center in McCook on November 26, 2023. She was born on March 15, 1953, and at a young age was adopted by Harry and Mae (Sims) Jenkins. Deanna attended and graduated from McCook High School in 1972. &nbsp;She married Glenn Morgan II on December 22, 1972, and to this union 3 children were born: Trisha, Tina, and Glenn. He preceded her in death April 1, 2008. She was baptized in the Methodist church as a young girl. She loved her pets and animals. She fed pigeons and doves. &nbsp;She enjoyed her dogs. &nbsp;Deanna volunteered at the McCook Humane Society. &nbsp;She was a huge Nebraska and Pro football fan.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Mae, and husband Glenn.

Deanna is survived by her 2 daughters, Trisha Morgan of McCook, Tina Morgan of Colorado; son Glenn and wife Christy Morgan of McCook; four grandchildren: Robert James and wife Sabrina of Waco, TX, Alex McKenzie and wife Dakota Morgan of McCook, Winnifred Rose Morgan, Timothy Allen Persley; great granddaughter, Lucia Rose Morgan.&nbsp;

Sondra “Sandy” Rae Perrault, 84, of North Platte, NE passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at North Platte Care Center.&nbsp;

Sondra was born on October 27, 1939 in Dickens, NE the daughter of Cecil and Edith (Wolverton) Land. &nbsp;

She attended country school in Dickens and graduated from North Platte High School. &nbsp;She was married in November of 1964 to Edward E. Perrault and they made their home in Wichita Falls, TX, Wiesbaden and Stuttgart, Germany, Castle Air Force Base, CA and Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton OH. &nbsp;Following her husband’s retirement from active military service they relocated to North Platte. &nbsp;Sandy was a devoted military spouse, mother, and grandmother. &nbsp;She enjoyed traveling along with her husband and family all over the world. &nbsp;Other hobbies included crocheting, genealogy, doll collecting, and reading romance novels. &nbsp;She also enjoyed watching romance movies and Hallmark Christmas movies. Sandy was a very giving and charitable person who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.&nbsp;

&nbsp; Barbara Ann Stanley, age 68, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2023 at her home in Lamar, Nebraska. She was born on July 15, 1955 to Max and Vivan Kunkel.

Barbara was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a retired X Ray tech, having dedicated 35 years to helping others. Barbara had a passion for home decor and was known for her impeccable taste. She also loved to travel and explore new places, always planning the perfect itinerary to any all and family vacations. Although she loved to travel her heart was in South Texas where she loved to look over the beach and enjoy the sunsets. Barbara had a heart for animals and was a dedicated rescuer. She also enjoyed hosting parties and spending time sharing her love of celebrations with her grandchildren via tea parties in the kitchen.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Vivan Kunkel.

She is survived by her loving husband, Mike Stanley; daughter, Meredith Selzer and husband Brad Selzer; son, Tyler Stanley and wife Alyssa Stanley; brothers, Mike and his wife, Marilyn Kunkel, Jim and his wife, Deb Kunkel; 5 grandchildren, Lexi Stanley, Emma Stanley, Brooks Stanley, Ella Selzer, and Luke Selzer; 20 nieces and nephews; and her Aunt and Uncle Roy and Marlene Stafford.

Barbara Ann Stanley (1955-2023)

Donald R. Nelson, 78, a lifelong Keith County resident, passed away November 27, 2023, at North Platte.

Don was born October 16, 1945, at Ogallala, Nebraska, to Raymond and Margaret (Christensen) Nelson. He graduated from Ogallala High School with the class of 1964 and went directly to the farm, where his heart always remained.

Don's passion was farming. He was smart and industrious, wearing many hats over the years, from inventor, electrician, welder, and mechanic, to name a few. Don had the heart of a teacher and mentor. There seemed to be an appointed season for joking and orneriness, rigidity, hard work, and one for faith and tenderness in his life, and with age and illness came a more profound love and appreciation for the bonds of family.

Never having children of his own, Don always had a special fondness for his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed taking drives, sometimes with unexpected destinations, but with an appreciation for the ride and the company that tagged along. Some of his most cherished moments would come later in life, when he'd return to the farm on Sundays, where he spent time with his great nephew, Pete, and his family, eating, visiting, and capping the day off with a drive for ice cream.

Though his last three years were filled with trials, they were also illuminated with blessings. Don enjoyed the retired life, enjoyed a renewed appreciation for family, experienced the harvest from the driver's seat of the combine, and even got a peak through the window at a greater harvest that was to come.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ray (Donna) Nelson, Norm, and Dave Nelson, and sister-in-law Joan Nelson.

Gladys May Cole, age 89, formerly of Curtis, Neb., passed away at Great Plains Health in North Platte on Sunday, November 26, 2023.&nbsp;

She was born in Holdrege, Neb., on April 20, 1934, to Earl and Tillie (Nelson) Hanson. She grew up on a farm by Loomis, Neb., where she attended a country grade school. In 1951, she graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture high school in Curtis. Following high school, she taught in country grade schools for two years. On September 6, 1953, she married Gerald Cole of Curtis, who she met while in high school. To this union, three children were born. After their children were raised, she was a secretary at Medicine Valley High School. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Curtis, where she taught Sunday School and Bible School for several years. She was also a member of the Triple L Extension Club and a 4-H leader for several years. Gerald and Gladys made their home south of Curtis where they farmed and ranched until their move to Curtis in 1990 and later to North Platte in 2017. Gladys loved her family dearly and faithfully followed the activities of her children and grandchildren.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald; grandson, Creighton Perkins: sisters: Doris Hollinger, Evelyn Almquist, Dorothy Novak, infant sister, Helen; brothers: Lawrence, Wilmer, Roger, and Earl (Junior) Hanson; sisters-in-law: Alva, Ruth, Isla, Mary and Doris Hanson, Devona Roudebush and Claudia Cole; brothers-in-law: Dean Almquist, Harry Hollinger, Bob Novak, Don Cole, William Kleinow and Rod Roudebush.

Sharolyn Hope “Shary” Boon was born October 11, 1945 at home on the school section in Southeast Dundy County, Nebraska to William Kermit and Opal (Lemon) Humphreys. She peacefully departed this life on November 25, 2023 at Papillion Manor in Papillion, Nebraska. She was 78 years of age.&nbsp;

Shary along with her four siblings grew up farming, raising cattle, feeding chickens and milking cows. Sometimes the girls would carry a hoe to protect themselves from the rattlesnakes when bringing in the cows. When school was in session they would stay in their grandfather’s basement in Max, Nebraska and return to the farm on the weekends. Shary was the youngest of the five children.

Shary graduated from Max High School as salutatorian with the class of 1963. She went on to post-graduate studies at McCook Community College where she met her first husband Jerry Jones. Their union was blessed with three children.

Following the birth of their third child, Shary and her family moved back to the family farm north of Parks, Nebraska. Shary shortly thereafter started a career selling Avon beauty products and then went on to a career with the United States Postal Service delivering mail on a rural route. In 1987, the family moved to Max, Nebraska where Shary became a Postmaster until her retirement in 2014.

Shary was a dedicated mother and grandmother, never missing an event, game or program. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and Max Community Club. She enjoyed having a cold “Coca Cola”, eating ice cream and playing bingo. Shary loved to joke around with all of her friends and family at Papillion Manor.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lyle and Levoine; and husband, Ralph Boon. Survivors include her children, Kirk (Paula) Jones of Cheyenne, WY, Kimberly Lynn (Mark) Sutherland of Cozad, and Kent Jones (Kris) of Cozad; 8 grandchildren, Mitchell (Jeanie), Joshua (Ricky), Brady (Victoria), Bryce Elizabeth (Trever), Bryton (Olivia), Gage, Mayla Lynn and Ryan; 6 great grandchildren, Cameron, Taylor, Ryan, Jackson, Khallen and Annabelle; her older brother and sister, Merril (Sylvia) Humphreys of Imperial, NE; and Ila Foster of Omaha, NE; as well as many other extended family and friends.

Their union was blessed with three children.Following the birth of their third child, Shary and her family moved back to the family farm north of Parks, Nebraska. Shary shortly thereafter started a career selling Avon beauty products and then went on to a career with the United States Postal Service delivering mail on a rural route. In 1987, the family moved to Max, Nebraska where Shary became a Postmaster until her retirement in 2014.Shary was a dedicated mother and grandmother, never missing an event, game or program. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and Max Community Club. She enjoyed having a cold “Coca Cola”, eating ice cream and playing bingo. Shary loved to joke around with all of her friends and family at Papillion Manor.She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lyle and Levoine; and husband, Ralph Boon. Survivors include her children, Kirk (Paula) Jones of Cheyenne, WY, Kimberly Lynn (Mark) Sutherland of Cozad, and Kent Jones (Kris) of Cozad; 8 grandchildren, Mitchell (Jeanie), Joshua (Ricky), Brady (Victoria), Bryce Elizabeth (Trever), Bryton (Olivia), Gage, Mayla Lynn and Ryan; 6 great grandchildren, Cameron, Taylor, Ryan, Jackson, Khallen and Annabelle; her older brother and sister, Merril (Sylvia) Humphreys of Imperial, NE; and Ila Foster of Omaha, NE; as well as many other extended family and friends.Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Shary Boon (1945-2023)

Betty Mae Priel, 91, of North Platte passed away November 26, 2023 in North Platte, Nebraska. Betty was born on April 24, 1932 In Sutherland, NE to Almer Robert and Acenath Carrie Schreckengast-Hughes where she grew up.&nbsp; She graduated from Sutherland High School where she met her future husband, Bud. Betty married Leonard M. “Bud” Priel on June 18, 1950 at Betty’s parents’ home south of Sutherland. Because Bud worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, Bud, Betty and family moved up and down the railroad lines, settling in Gothenburg where they lived for 13 years. In 1970, they moved to North Platte, NE.

Betty enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She had a number of small businesses. She spent time behind her sewing machine sewing up drapes, clothes, and other items, sometimes using patterns but most of the time developing her own patterns. Betty also enjoyed baking and was known for her cakes and breads. Betty and Bud spent time together collecting and re-finishing antiques that they picked up at auctions or garage sales. Betty joined a group of local ladies that were involved in the queen contest for Nebraskaland Days and was instrumental in fundraising for the queen’s scholarships. Bud and Betty hosted many of the queen contestants that competed and hosted Miss Rodeo America for 15 years. Betty was a member of P.E.O. that provided grants and support for aspiring young women. Betty was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include children Dan (Connie) Priel of Cambridge, Tammy (Rick) Rasby of Lincoln and Kent (Cara) Priel of North Platte; grandchildren, Holli (Mike) Oberg of Farnam, Zach (Mona) Priel of Cozad, Nick (Sarah) Rasby of Lincoln, Andra Rasby of Los Angeles, CA. and Brittany Mullins of Hoxie, KS. &nbsp;Seven great-grandchildren, Skyler, Ethan, Austin, Zoey, Cohen, Bennet, and River. Brother Bill (Evelyn) Hughes, brothers-in-law Lloyd Boyer and Don Fleecs, sister-in-law Betty Hughes, and other family members.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband (Bud), parents Almer and Acenath, sisters Pauline Hughes; Joyce Boyer, and Ramona Watrous (husband Pete) and brother David Hughes.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, November 30, 2023 at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Emily McCreery and Pastor Willy Roberts officiating. &nbsp;Burial will be at 2:00 P.M., at the Riverview Cemetery, Sutherland, Nebraska. &nbsp;Visitation will be from noon – 7, Wednesday, with family receiving friends from 5-7 at Adams &amp; Swanson Funeral Home, who is assisting the family. &nbsp;

Betty Mae Priel (1932-2023)

Celeste Nanette (Dryden) Bates, 58, of Hamlet, NE passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving husband and family on Sunday, November 26, 2023 at Great Plains Health Hospital in North Platte, NE.&nbsp;

Celeste was born on November 25, 1965 in Fremont, NE, Dodge County, the daughter of Bernard Walter and Deloris Jean (Modlin) Dryden. &nbsp;

Celeste was married in 2008 to Jamie Ray Bates in Grand Island, NE. &nbsp;She loved singing, writing music, and playing the guitar. &nbsp;Celeste also enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband Jamie, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. &nbsp;She was an ordained minister in the Progressive Universal Life Church and was always known as the peacemaker in her family. &nbsp;She never met a stranger and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish Celeste’s memory are her husband of 15 years, Jamie; mother and stepfather, Deloris and Marvin Brainard of Fremont; daughter, Alissa Fields; sons, Forrest Fields and Tobias Bates all of Hamlet; grandson, Octivias Paxson of Hamlet; a sister, Cheryl; a brother, Brad; and several nieces, nephews; cousins; and beloved friends.&nbsp;

Celeste Nanette Dryden-Bates (1965-2023)

Larry "Red" Wayne Bass, age 70, of McCook, NE passed away surrounded by his loved ones at his home in McCook on November 22, 2023.

Red was born January 5, 1953 in Sterling, CO. His parents were Ed and Inez Marie (Tadolini) Bass. He was one of two brothers and attended school in McCook, graduating from McCook High School with the Class of 1971. He then attended Central Nebraska Technical College in Hastings, graduating with an auto body degree in 1973.&nbsp;

Red married the love of his life, Gail Carpenter, in McCook. Even though the couple later divorced, Red and Gail remained wonderful friends.&nbsp;

Following Red's graduation from CNTC, he worked for Hormel Chevrolet in McCook. He also spent a brief amount of time working in the oilfields. Red then managed Bass Sporting Goods, the family-owned business in McCook.

In 1981, Red began LB Motors, which, at its original location, sat on the backlot of Kuhlman’s Conoco. Red developed a successful car dealership that he owned and managed until 2014. Helping to ensure the next owner's success, Red continued his involvement in the business for a number of years.&nbsp;

Red was a member of the local Elk's Club and enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating and spending time&nbsp;with family and friends at the lake. Many hours were spent around Red's round table. Whether it was coffee in the morning before work or the social hour after work each day, his friends would gather to visit.

Red attended the McCook Evangelical Free Church.&nbsp;

Red was preceded in death by his parents.&nbsp;
