Wesley Jay Martin, 83, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away November 19, 2023 at his home in North Platte. He was born May 22, 1940 to Carl “Pepper” and Opal Anna (Young) Martin in North Platte.

Wesley graduate from North Platte High School with the class of 1958 and then enlisted in the United States Army. He married Sharlyn “Sherry” Meyer on August 12, 1989 in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. They lived in North Platte and he worked at Union Pacific Railroad as a pipefitter until his retirement in the early 2000’s. Wesley loved bowling and golf and was on a bowling league. He attended car races in Knoxville, Iowa. Wesley loved big and cared for his kids.

Survivors include children, Cindy Martin of McAllen, Texas, Kenny Martin of Ft. Collins, CO, Karl (Cynthia) Martin and Candy Stange of Ft. Worth, Texas; siblings, Richard (Janice) Martin and Carol Mack of North Platte; several grandchildren.

Wesley was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Opal; wife, Sharlyn “Sherry” Martin; brother, Lowell; brother-in-law, Jack Mack.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Christel W. Lakatosh went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 19, 2023. &nbsp;Christel Edith Johanna Weitschies-Lakatosh was born on May 8, 1932 in Seckenburg, East Prussia to Paul Weitschies &nbsp;Margarete Mandel.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Christel trained and worked as a dental hygienist in Chicago, Illinois. &nbsp;She married Andrew Frank Lakatosh on June 25, 1960 in Oak Park, Illinois. &nbsp;They lived in Illinois for several years until Andrew had a work transfer to Littleton, Colorado in 1971. They lived there for almost 40 years. Christel worked as a devoted wife and mother. &nbsp;They moved to McCook in 2010 to be closer to the grandchildren, whom they loved dearly. &nbsp;Christel went to as many of her grandchildren’s sporting events as she could, and when she couldn’t, she listened to them on the radio. &nbsp;Her hobbies included reading her Bible and praying for others, telling others about her faith, cooking amazing German dishes, singing hymns, talking to her relatives in Germany and Canada, and meeting with the German Ladies of McCook.

&nbsp; &nbsp; She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Andrew Frank Lakatosh; her parents and several siblings.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Christel is survived by her sister, Asta Tiβberger of Germany; her brother Juergen Weitschies and wife, Ute Weitschies of Germany; her son, David Andrew Lakatosh, of Aurora, CO; daughter Deborah Jean (Lakatosh) Arp and husband, Gregory Thomas Arp of McCook, NE; grandson Christopher Lee Arp and wife, Korin Arp of Friend, NE; grandson Colin Tyler Arp of Longmont, CO; granddaughter, Emily Christel Arp and grandson, Mark Andrew Arp, both of McCook; many nieces and nephews; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many friends.

Maurice L. Johnson (1971-2023)

AC Rowan, age 88, of Lamar, CO passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023 at Community Hospital in McCook, NE.

AC was born July 23, 1935 in Las Animas, CO to parents Archie Cyde and Ada (Barnes) Rowan. He was one of two children.&nbsp; Following high school, AC attended both Lamar Community College and Colorado State University on livestock judging scholarships.

AC was a member of the Army National Guard, completing six months basic training in Arkansas where he proudly bought his first good baseball glove, which he used throughout his career and kept near him until the end of his life. He traveled the country playing fastpitch softball with his best friends and was eventually inducted into the Colorado Fastpitch Softball Hall of Fame. AC spent numerous years coaching youth baseball and traveled many miles taking his teams from one end of the state to the other. He also refereed high school basketball for many years.

Though farming and raising sheep were his main vocation, AC also worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier, a job he dearly loved. He especially enjoyed visiting with people he delivered mail to. For many years, AC rang bells for the Salvation Army Christmas Campaign. He always enjoyed wearing funny hats to entertain the kids that would come by and put money in the kettle.

AC’s main love with his family. On November 20, 1960, he married the love of his life, Bonnie (Bowles) Rowan in Wiley, CO. The couple was blessed with two children. He and Bonnie traveled together and worked together on the farm. He also greatly enjoyed his three grandkids.

Many hours were spent on batting practice with all three grandkids. There was nothing he wouldn’t do or any distance too far to take them to events or to travel to watch them participate. He loved being around them and making them laugh, which he was doing up until his final days.

AC joined Bonnie in Heaven on their 64th wedding anniversary, so they never spent one apart.

AC was preceded in death by his parents; wife Bonnie Rowan; grandson, Xander Sharpe Rowan and several brother- and sister- in laws.

Those left to celebrate her life include his son, Jay Rowan of Lamar; daughter, Sheila (Colt) Hosick of McCook, NE; daughter in law, Monette Sutphin of Lamar, CO; sister, Zanetta Kelley of Houston, TX; sister in law Lorene Thompson of Lamar, CO; two grandchildren, Macy Elway Rowan and Canyon River Hosick; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family; and lifelong friends.

&nbsp; Patricia Katherine Ann Hackert, of Palisade, Nebraska, born July 26, 1930 to Frank and Lillian (Filipy) Jackson in Staples, Minnesota, went peacefully to the Lord on Sunday, November 19, 2023, to join her deceased loved ones (Donald her husband, and her children, Girard and Rose Marie) surrounded by her surviving six children and their spouses. She looked forward to being with her deceased loved ones, including her parents and her brother and sisters, and to be with Jesus.

Patricia, the oldest of eight children, spent her formative years growing in her Catholic faith with attendance at Sacred Heart Catholic School and the love and example of her mother and father. She worked many jobs during high school with her goal of attending college.

She met the love of her life and future husband, Donald Ignatius, at a St. John’s University dance her freshman year at St. Benedict College, in St. Joseph, Minnesota. It did not take long for their Catholic faith to bring them together forever. They were married on April 10, 1950 and were married for 36 years until his death in 1986.

While living in Elk River, Minnesota, the opportunity arose for her husband Donald to move to Palisade, Nebraska, to become the office manager for the young Southwest Public Power District, where he worked until his death. They came to the Nebraska Plains to build a life together. On her first visit she said she had found a new home where she lived for 72 years developing a wide range of friendships across the state of Nebraska and beyond. Patricia did not let grass grow under her feet.

Patricia’s community involvement helped many generations grow in their Catholic faith in teaching religious education for 21 years in the basement of her home. She guided young men in the Boy Scouts Webelos program with her son, Mark. She volunteered for VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) to help prepare tax returns for the low income and elderly. She was a long time Palisade Library board member, as well as volunteer librarian. She served as a National Weather Service reporter (recognized by both organizations for her service), volunteered with United Way campaign, local blood drive, election board, Education Service Unit and read to elementary students at Palisade Grade School. She participated in book club, held leadership roles in the Holy Family Altar Society, Deanery Chairmen for International Affairs and served Holy Family Catholic Church in numerous ways. She was Town Chairwoman for Girl Scouts and helped with eye tests of pre-kindergartens for amblyopia. Patricia was a charter member of the Friendly Neighbors Club in 1951, that continues to meet.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, children Rose Marie and Girard, parents Frank and Lillian Jackson, brother John Jackson, sisters, Ruthie Overby and Marilyn Bonaiuto, and Brother-in-Law John Deml.

Patricia is survived by children-- Kathleen (Marvin) Oster, Timothy (Darcy) Hackert, Rita Scott (Dave Cutting), Mary Margaret (Carlos) Estrada, Mark (Jane) Hackert and Teresa (Terry) Johns. She even finished the day watching the Huskers play football on TV. And saw the Husker Volleyball win the night before. Patricia had told one of her nurses that she was ready to go home. The nurse asked if that was in Palisade. Patricia said NO and pointed towards Heaven.

&nbsp; Kody Garonn Huff, of Hamlet, NE was born on September 05, 1987 in Colby, Kansas to James Huff and Carol Macklin. Kody passed away at his residence on November 12, 2023.

Kody grew up in Colby and from the moment his life began, he captured attention. In his beginning years, Kody was, no doubt, smart. He learned to speak at an early and age and never did stop talking.

Kody was eager to learn and enjoyed teaching others. So much so, he was regularly placed into gifted and talented programs in school, to occupy his time and his mind. When he finished his work, he would gracefully help others get their work done. Kody was the life of the party, a "social butterfly" who enjoyed being around people and getting to know people. It was not uncommon for the family to be having a planned night in with nothing to do. Kody would burst through the door and immediately cure any boredom.

Kody loved listening to music of all kinds from rap to country. Eminem, Jelly Roll, and 2 Pac were some of his favorites. As he got older, he did manage to change some of his taste to the likings of Lynard Skyward and C.C.R.

Most recently, Kody was working as an apprentice electrician for Pivot Electrical with ambitions of one day earning his journeyman. He had a tremendous heart and genuinely cared for those who cared back for him. If you needed Kody, he was there for you, no questions.

Kody is survived by his parents, Carol Mackin and James Huff; his daughters, Jaycelia Perry, Kaycelynn Perry, and Layceiara Perry; brothers, Boone Huff and Shawn Macklin; Maternal grandparents, Richard and Marilyn Robbins;; his niece, Lilly Huff and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Claire Uerling (aka Clara B. Uerling), age 92, of Indianola, NE passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2023 in Omaha, Nebraska.

Claire was born May 2, 1931 at the family home in St. Ann, Frontier County, Nebraska to parents Joseph Christ Anderjaska and Lucy Julia (McCracken) Anderjaska. Growing up, Claire went to high school in McCook. Following high school Claire attended McCook Junior College, worked at Ma Bell and saved money to go to the University of Nebraska for one year which was required for her teaching certificate. At UNL Claire joined the pep club and made up the yell, “Go Big Red” along with helping to write their pep songs like “Good Old Nebraska U.” Claire majored in home economics at the University of Nebraska. She entered suits she had designed in the Nebraska State Fair where she earned purple ribbons in sewing and modeling. Claire was a certificated teacher and taught school for a year. She met Robert William Uerling at a local dance and fell in love. She said Robert was pleasant, humble, and handsome. Claire said Bob didn’t brag or need to have a fancy car. They were married June 10, 1952 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hayes Center, NE. Over the years, the couple made their home in both rural McCook and rural Indianola. Claire and her family built their home outside of Indianola where they continued to farm and feed cattle. Claire and Bob were blessed with seven children.

Claire was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Society. Claire was a talented artist, avid seamstress, baker of delicious cinnamon rolls, bread, homemade noodles, and desserts such as fudge, and fondant. She loved gardening and canning. Claire was a member of the Red Willow Card Club, leader of the local 4-H club called Try &amp; Do, which she started for her children whom she taught a variety of subjects such as cooking, sewing, art, entomology, and first aid. Claire was a former president and a member of the McCook Art Guild for many years. Claire and Robert also enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends and see the world. Among their favorite locations were Alaska and Europe. Claire enjoyed spending summer days at the lake boating and skiing with their children and their friends or socializing at family picnics.

Claire was preceded in death by her husband in 2016, her parents; brothers Conrad, Jerry, Bernard, Arnold, and sister, Joan.

Claire E. Uerling (1931-2023)

&nbsp; &nbsp; Wayne Virgil Baker, age 83, passed away on November 19, 2023 at the Scottsbluff Monument Rehabilitation and Care Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Wayne was born on September 18, 1940 to John and Madeline (Schilz) Baker in McCook, Nebraska.&nbsp; He attended school and graduated from St. Patrick School and then McCook High School with the class of 1959.&nbsp;&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; Wayne worked several jobs over the years.&nbsp; He drove a truck for Gamble-Robinson, was the assistant manager at East Side Sheldon's Market, and also worked in maintenance at the McCook High School.&nbsp; After moving to North Platte, Nebraska, he was the maintenance person at the McKinley Education Center before he retired.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ronald Baker and Dale Baker.

Wayne Virgil Baker (1940-2023)

&nbsp; Elizabeth Jeffers, a long-time resident of Benkelman, Nebraska passed away on November 14, 2023 at her residence. She was born on December 18, 1961 in Lakewood, Ohio to John and Donna (Barrier) Jeffers.

Elizabeth grew up in Ohio and graduated from high school. While growing up, Elizabeth loved horses and spent many hours around them while growing up. She was a musician and deeply enjoyed playing in several bands throughout her lifetime.

Elizabeth Jeffers (1961-2023)

John Edwin Kahl, of Hershey, Nebraska (originally of Glendive, MT), passed away at his home on November 15, 2023 surrounded by his family.&nbsp; He was born on September 27, 1938 to John Charles Kahl and Mabel Marie (Brophy) Kahl in Wibaux, Montana.

John graduated from Wibaux High School in 1956 and afterwards entered the US Army.&nbsp; Upon being honorably discharged, he returned to Montana to work custom combining.&nbsp; He then moved to Crookston, NE to manage the local lumberyard.&nbsp; After some time, he returned to Wibaux to work in the oil fields.&nbsp; In 1963, he graduated from the Montana Highway Patrol Academy thus beginning a 40 year public service career consisting of state trooper, highway vehicle safety officer and being elected as sheriff of Dawson County, MT.

A man of unwavering integrity, he exemplified the principle of service before self, both in his career and his life.&nbsp; Whether it was lending a helping hand to a neighbor in need or a stranger while on patrol, he embodied the spirit of selflessness. His commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others was a testament to his noble character.

As a devoted spouse and father, he treasured the bonds that held our family together. His love was the cornerstone of our home, providing unwavering support and warmth to each member. With a heart full of love and understanding, he created a haven where laughter echoed and shared moments became cherished memories. His role as a spouse and father was marked by patience, guidance, and an enduring commitment to ensuring the happiness and well-being of his loved ones.

He dedicated his life to spreading love and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of love and kindness will forever be cherished.

John was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law Joseph and Merle Barnaby, siblings Erwin Kahl, Clara (Norm) Hunter, Valaria (Danny) Burnosky, Bud Kahl, Bernice (Frank) Kreitinger; and brothers- in-law Harry Begger, Roger Barnaby and Virgil Barnaby.&nbsp;

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Kent Allison, nurse Tammy Prock and the Brookestone Hospice care team who, through their expertise, compassion and tireless commitment, provided exceptional care for John.

Cremation was chosen.&nbsp; A memorial service will be held in the spring in Wibaux, MT where John was born and raised.&nbsp;

In lieu of flowers, the family has chosen to honor the memory of John by establishing a memorial scholarship. This scholarship will celebrate his legacy of compassion, fairness, and love by supporting aspiring individuals in their pursuit of a career as a public servant ensuring a lasting impact on the lives of those who receive the scholarship.

 </figure>John Edwin Kahl, of Hershey, Nebraska (originally of Glendive, MT), passed away at his home on November 15, 2023 surrounded by his family.&nbsp; He was born on September 27, 1938 to John Charles Kahl and Mabel Marie (Brophy) Kahl in Wibaux, Montana.John graduated from Wibaux High School in 1956 and afterwards entered the US Army.&nbsp; Upon being honorably discharged, he returned to Montana to work custom combining.&nbsp; He then moved to Crookston, NE to manage the local lumberyard.&nbsp; After some time, he returned to Wibaux to work in the oil fields.&nbsp; In 1963, he graduated from the Montana Highway Patrol Academy thus beginning a 40 year public service career consisting of state trooper, highway vehicle safety officer and being elected as sheriff of Dawson County, MT.A man of unwavering integrity, he exemplified the principle of service before self, both in his career and his life.&nbsp; Whether it was lending a helping hand to a neighbor in need or a stranger while on patrol, he embodied the spirit of selflessness. His commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others was a testament to his noble character.As a devoted spouse and father, he treasured the bonds that held our family together. His love was the cornerstone of our home, providing unwavering support and warmth to each member. With a heart full of love and understanding, he created a haven where laughter echoed and shared moments became cherished memories. His role as a spouse and father was marked by patience, guidance, and an enduring commitment to ensuring the happiness and well-being of his loved ones.He dedicated his life to spreading love and kindness, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. John Edwin Kahl (1938-2023)

&nbsp; &nbsp;Roy Irvin Jacobs passed away unexpectedly at his home in McCook on November 15, 2023, due to a massive heart attack. &nbsp;Roy’s wish for his end of life was that he died quickly, was happy, and was not alone. &nbsp;God granted him his wishes. &nbsp;He was happy in the moments before his death and was with his girlfriend, Sharla.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Roy was born on November 10, 1960 in Hays, Kansas to Irvin and Verna (Gross) Jacobs; he was the middle child of nine! &nbsp;He attended school in Hays and graduated from Hays High School in 1979. &nbsp;Roy served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1985-1989. &nbsp;He was an expert marksman with the M-16 rifle and in the grenade. &nbsp;He spent most of his service time in Germany and had many interesting tales to tell from his time in uniform.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Roy married Eileen Schumacher and to this union his only daughter, Jenna, was born. &nbsp;He later married Jana (Balthazor) Guthrie.&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; Roy worked many different jobs in his life. He was in the oilfields, and he also had years of experience in construction. &nbsp;Roy spent most of his work life, though, behind the wheel of a semi, owning and operating J&amp;S Trucking out of Phillipsburg, Kansas for 20 years. &nbsp;He resided in Kansas and Nebraska but was able to feed his adventurous spirit with 18 wheels. &nbsp;Adaptability and resilience were two of his many strengths. &nbsp;Punctuality, reliability, taking good care of things, these are traits Roy not only valued on the job, but honored with loved ones as well. &nbsp;He was most recently employed as a truck driver with Frenchman Valley Coop in McCook, Nebraska. &nbsp;He had wanted a change in life and the chance to be home every night. &nbsp;He appreciated how stress-free it allowed him to be.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Roy’s idea of heaven was fresh air, sunshine, and sometimes the joy of sitting by a firepit. &nbsp;He was an outdoorsman at heart, Roy enjoyed country cruising and off-road adventures. &nbsp;He loved being on the water: boating, fishing, or floating down the river and just lounging in a stock tank. &nbsp;Roy was a devoted father and stepfather. &nbsp;He was known for his generous spirit and was always ready to lend a helping hand. &nbsp;Recently, he donated his time and skills to the Habitat for Humanity house in McCook. &nbsp;Notable for his goofy sense of humor and a soft spot for kids, Roy had no problem becoming a big kid himself to entertain the little ones. &nbsp;He had a knack for most anything hands on, whether it be under the hood of any vehicle or renovations at home, he was a natural. &nbsp;He leaves behind a legacy of love and will be deeply missed by family, friends, and coworkers.&nbsp;

Roy Irvin Jacobs (1960-2023)

Timothy Jimenez, 69, of Ogallala, passed away on November 18, 2023, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.

Tim was born January 24, 1954 at Ogallala, Nebraska to Pete and Fanny (Ortega) Jimenez.

On May 1, 1971, Tim married Barbara Tjaden at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Ogallala. Their union was blessed with two daughters: Missy and Lori. The couple would make their home in Ogallala, where Tim worked at CHS Grainland for many years as the location manager. He retired as the general manager at FCA in 2015 after nearly 40 years.

Memorials are suggested to the Perkins County Hospital and the Ogallala Volunteer Fire and Rescue in memory of Tim.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Stephen Jimenez.

Survivors include his wife, Barb of Ogallala; his daughters, Missy (Jason) Schliep of Grand Island; Lori (Bryan) Hill of Ogallala; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Pete (Marie) Jimenez of Clarksville, TN, Dora (Adam) Jara of San Angelo, TX, Emerald (Tim) Lauts of Atchison, KS, Art Jimenez of Lincoln, Margie Schilz of Ogallala, Frances (Mike) Legler of Columbus, Arnold (Molly) Jimenez of Albany, OR and Leonard Jimenez of Lincoln; along with many other relatives and friends.

Diane Lynne Scollin, 67 of North Platte, NE went to be home with her Lord on November 16, 2023 after a short and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born to Bernie and Lois Derby at Millard, Nebraska on July 26, 1956.

In January of 1972 the family moved to North Platte and Diane graduated from North Platte High School in 1974 and then attended Mid Plains Community College. In April of 1984 she married her soul mate Jim Scollin from Paxton. Diane worked for NPPD at Gerald Gentleman Station from 1980 until 1994. In 1994 she partnered with Allen Miles at Alive Outside until her retirement.

Diane loved to quilt, cruise and travel. Her passion was spending time with her grandchildren as often as possible.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents; in laws; Eugene and Marie Scollin; a sister- in- law and brother- in- law, Jean and Leroy Follis; and a nephew Adam TenEyck.

Diane Lynne Scollin (1956-2023)

Leatrice Sexton of Cambridge age 86, passed away at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on November 15, 2023. She was born in Mineral Wells, Texas on October 18, 1937, to Vaughn and Betty (Bell) Davis.&nbsp; Leatrice grew up and attended Mineral Wells High School, graduating in 1955.&nbsp; She went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Harden Simmons&nbsp;University.&nbsp; Leatrice taught for several years in Texas.&nbsp; On August 24, 1963, she was united in marriage to Stanley Sexton.&nbsp;

The couple moved to Cambridge, NE where Leatrice taught high school English in Holbrook for many years.&nbsp; She was&nbsp;an active member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha (ESA) and local chapter Alpha Omicron, including serving as State President. She traveled to numerous state and national conventions and developed lifelong friends through the philanthropic activities.&nbsp; They would travel and winter in Yuma, AZ.&nbsp; Leatrice enjoyed volunteering at the Cambridge Hospital Thrift Shop,&nbsp;and was active with the United Methodist Church.&nbsp;&nbsp;Leatrice and Stan enjoyed traveling, including trips to Texas, farm shows and auctions, and spending parts of winters in Yuma, Arizona.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vaughn and Betty, a brother, Herb Davis.&nbsp;

Leatrice is survived by her husband, Stan of Cambridge, daughter, Alison Sexton of Fairfield, CT and a sister-in-law, Mary Davis of Weatherford, TX.&nbsp;

James Sherman Hobbs (1939-2023)

Reba Maxine Tomlin, age 91, of Cambridge passed away at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on November 16, 2023, loved by her family.&nbsp; She was born north of Orafino to Theodore and Eunice (Moore) Ohlson, their third daughter.&nbsp; The family later moved to the farm south of Cambridge where she attended Sunny Hillside Country School. She had many fun memories and lifelong friends from there.&nbsp; Reba attended and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1949.&nbsp; She continued her education for two years at Kearney State College.&nbsp;

On September 8, 1951, she was united in marriage to Max E. Tomlin. He preceded her in death on July 29, 2022.&nbsp; The couple made their home in Cambridge.&nbsp; Reba was a founding member of the Rainbow Girls in Cambridge. She was a member of the Congregational Church, serving as Sunday School superintendent and taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of the Women's Fellowship.&nbsp; Reba was an excellent seamstress, sewing many of the girls’ clothing as they grew up.&nbsp; She enjoyed quilting, embroidery, jigsaw puzzles, watching Nebraska football and volleyball.&nbsp; She and Max enjoyed traveling, playing golf, and spending time in the mountains of Colorado.&nbsp; She loved to take trips to Albuquerque, and Ft. Collins and Las Vegas and little trips to casinos where she enjoyed playing the penny and nickel machines and watching the people.&nbsp; She was known for her ever-famous cinnamon rolls. It brightened her day when she could spend quality time with her grandchildren.&nbsp; Reba was employed at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital as a cook and later as a cook at the Cambridge Public School for over 16 years.&nbsp; &nbsp;

She was preceded by her parents, Ted and Eunice; husband, Max; sisters, Joy (Bob) Feeken, Jean (Jerry) Witte; brother-in-law, Bob Liggett.&nbsp;

Reba is survived by 5 daughters: Pam (Jim) Miller of Alma, Sandy (Larry) Cornett of Cambridge, Becky (Von) Johnson of Cambridge, Diane (Steve) Ourada of Lexington, Judy (David) Garcia of Surprise, AZ; 2 sons, Bob Tomlin of Cambridge; Mike (Jamie) Tomlin of Cambridge; 20 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Donna Liggett of Cambridge.&nbsp;

Joe L. Maestas passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at his home in Cozad at the age of 87.

 Joe was born January 13, 1936 at Las Vegas, New Mexico to Macedonio and Francis (Arranda) Maestas. He was proud of the time he served his country in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard. Joe drove chopper for many years for local hay mills. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Marie Romero and Alice Maestas; brother, Bonney Maestas; and long time companion, Bessie Garrison. Joe is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

A private family graveside service will be held at Cozad Cemetery with Military Honors.

&nbsp; Roger Thomas Howard was born on July 22, 1953, in Benkelman, Nebraska, to Thomas and Karolyn (Stute) Howard. He was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Benkelman, Nebraska. Roger grew up in Max, Nebraska and graduated from Benkelman High School in 1971. After high school, Roger attended an airline ticketing school in Miami, Florida. He then returned to Max to begin a construction career in the tri-state area. Roger’s first marriage blessed him with two daughters: Heather and Megan. They lived on the family farm just east of Max. His career moved him to Ft. Collins, Colorado, to St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands and finally to North Platte, Nebraska, where he worked as a general contractor. Roger and Regina added two sons, Cody and Ryan, to complete their family. They were united in marriage on March 1, 2019. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh, golfing with friends and time spent tending to his garden and flowers. His love of golf took him to many Central and Southwest Nebraska golf courses. Daily phone calls with his brother Kevin were an important part of his day. He was blessed with a talent for carpentry and shared that with many of his customers. Roger worked for Select Tile &amp; Carpet in North Platte before retiring to Harlingen, Texas, with wife Regina. His passion for golf continued at many courses in South Texas.

Roger departed this life on November 13, 2023, in Harlingen, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richie Howard. He is survived by his wife, Regina of Harlingen, Texas; daughters Heather (Brady) Howard of Santa Rosa, California and Megan (Brock) Peters of Celine, Ohio; sons Cody Howard of North Platte, Nebraska and Ryan Howard of Lincoln, Nebraska; step-daughter Chrystal Lowe of North Platte, Nebraska; sister Deb (Monte) Nordhausen of Wauneta, Nebraska; brother Kevin (Shelli) Howard of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren Dara Brester, Sofia Navarro, Haven, Heartley, Sadie and Daxton Schwartz; MaKenna and Braelyn Ashmore; Bexley and Kinsley Peters; and Ryleigh Howard; step-grandchild Jazmyn Keup.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, November 21, 2023, at 10:30 am at the Zion Lutheran Church in Benkelman.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Roger Thomas Howard (1953-2023)

Florence Marie (Fiscus) Bacon, 74, of Lemoyne, passed away November 15, 2023, at the Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala.

Florence was born August 15, 1949, at Hyannis, Nebraska, to Bill and Opal (Cogill) Fiscus. She attended school at Hyannis before graduating from Oshkosh High School.

Florence met Floyd Bacon at a dance in Arthur while she was helping cook for Myers Land and Cattle at the Triangle Ranch. The two were married on October 12, 1968, and the couple welcomed a daughter, Cheryl Lynn, on June 21, 1971.&nbsp;

Florence was a dedicated housewife and mother, following Floyd from ranch to ranch over the years.&nbsp;

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Opal Fiscus, and a brother-in-law, Dean Bacon.&nbsp;

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Floyd Bacon of Lemoyne; daughter, Cheryl Bacon of Ogallala; grandchildren, Christy (Kris) Schnabel and Dalton Dolezal, both of Ogallala; brothers, Miles (Jeanne) Fiscus, Roy (Marylas) Fiscus, Will (Dawn) Fiscus; sister-in-law, Betty Herndon; brothers-in-law, Robert Bacon and Gary Bacon; along with many other relatives and friends.&nbsp;

Frakes, age 81, of Trenton, passed away at her home on Sunday, November 12, 2023. &nbsp;She was born in Minneapolis, MN, on August 16, 1942, to Bill and Dorothy (Higley) Loop. &nbsp;The family moved to Trenton, where Dana graduated from high school in 1960. &nbsp;On June 19, 1960, she was united in marriage to Richard Frakes at the United Methodist Church in Trenton. &nbsp;The couple celebrated 63 years of marriage. &nbsp;Dana worked at a bakery in Lincoln for a while, where she learned to decorate cakes. &nbsp; The couple made their home in Colorado, where Dana was employed for 20 years as a dispatcher for the City of Broomfield Police Department. In 1998, the couple returned to Trenton.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Dana enjoyed her grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and family. &nbsp;She especially enjoyed attending their school and sporting events. She enjoyed crafts, scrapbooking, and making many handcrafted birthday and special occasions cards for family and friends. &nbsp;&nbsp;

&nbsp; &nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Dorothy; and one brother, Roger Loop.&nbsp;

Dana Jean Frakes (1942-2023)

&nbsp;&nbsp; Clarence Joseph Jankovits Jr. was born on September 7, 1938 at home in Hitchcock County, Nebraska to Clarence and Frances (Versch) Jankovits. &nbsp;He attended school in Herndon, Kansas and graduated with the Herndon High School Class of 1956.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Clarence was united in marriage to Kay Fassler on November 14, 1959 in Herndon. &nbsp;They first lived south of Culbertson and in 1966 made their final move to the family farm east of Culbertson where they raised their three children. &nbsp;Clarence was a lifelong farmer and his love of the land led to serving as a board member of Farmers Coop and as a director of the Frenchman Valley Irrigation District for 19 years.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Clarence served Culbertson as a member of the schoolboard. &nbsp;Clarence and Kay attended St. Patrick Catholic Church of McCook where Clarence was active in the Knights of Columbus. &nbsp;He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and working on puzzles.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Clarence passed away Monday evening, November 13, 2023, at the Wauneta Care and Therapy Center in Wauneta, Nebraska. &nbsp;He was 85 years of age.

&nbsp; &nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Clarence is survived by his wife of 64 years, Kay Jankovits of the farm east of Culbertson; sons, Daniel (LeAnn) Jankovits of Culbertson and James (Jill) Jankovits of Crawford, Nebraska; daughter, Janet (Jankovits) Kincaid of Loveland, Colorado; grandchildren: Michelle (Cody) Levinson of Omaha, Nebraska, Jessica Jankovits of McCook, Cody (Lauren) Jankovits of Omaha, Nebraska, Erica (Spencer) Ricci of Eaton, Colorado, Logan Jankovits of Cambridge, Nebraska, and Allison (Levi) Allen of Hot Springs, South Dakota; great-grandchildren: Hailey, Connor and Jordyn Levinson, Penelope, Nolan, and Dallin Ricci, and Kaladin, Lochlan, and Ashton Allen; and brothers, Robert (Kris) Jankovits of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Gery (Roxie) Jankovits of Rochester Hills, Michigan.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023, from 10AM-7PM at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook, the family will be present to greet friends from 5-7PM. &nbsp;Recitation of the Rosary will follow the visitation, beginning at 7PM.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10AM on Friday morning, November 17, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in McCook with Father Bernard Kimminau celebrating. &nbsp;Burial will follow in the Culbertson Cemetery.

 </figure>&nbsp;&nbsp; Clarence Joseph Jankovits Jr. was born on September 7, 1938 at home in Hitchcock County, Nebraska to Clarence and Frances (Versch) Jankovits. &nbsp;He attended school in Herndon, Kansas and graduated with the Herndon High School Class of 1956.&nbsp; &nbsp; Clarence was united in marriage to Kay Fassler on November 14, 1959 in Herndon. &nbsp;They first lived south of Culbertson and in 1966 made their final move to the family farm east of Culbertson where they raised their three children. &nbsp;Clarence was a lifelong farmer and his love of the land led to serving as a board member of Farmers Coop and as a director of the Frenchman Valley Irrigation District for 19 years.&nbsp; &nbsp; Clarence served Culbertson as a member of the schoolboard. &nbsp;Clarence and Kay attended St. Patrick Catholic Church of McCook where Clarence was active in the Knights of Columbus. &nbsp;He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and working on puzzles.&nbsp; &nbsp; Clarence passed away Monday evening, November 13, 2023, at the Wauneta Care and Therapy Center in Wauneta, Nebraska. &nbsp;He was 85 years of age.&nbsp; &nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents.&nbsp; &nbsp; Clarence is survived by his wife of 64 years, Kay Jankovits of the farm east of Culbertson; sons, Daniel (LeAnn) Jankovits of Culbertson and James (Jill) Jankovits of Crawford, Nebraska; daughter, Janet (Jankovits) Kincaid of Loveland, Colorado; grandchildren: Michelle (Cody) Levinson of Omaha, Nebraska, Jessica Jankovits of McCook, Cody (Lauren) Jankovits of Omaha, Nebraska, Erica (Spencer) Ricci of Eaton, Colorado, Logan Jankovits of Cambridge, Nebraska, and Allison (Levi) Allen of Hot Springs, South Dakota; great-grandchildren: Hailey, Connor and Jordyn Levinson, Penelope, Nolan, and Dallin Ricci, and Kaladin, Lochlan, and Ashton Allen; and brothers, Robert (Kris) Jankovits of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Gery (Roxie) Jankovits of Rochester Hills, Michigan.&nbsp; &nbsp; Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023, from 10AM-7PM at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook, the family will be present to greet friends from 5-7PM. &nbsp;Recitation of the Rosary will follow the visitation, beginning at 7PM.&nbsp; &nbsp; Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10AM on Friday morning, November 17, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in McCook with Father Bernard Kimminau celebrating. &nbsp;Burial will follow in the Culbertson Cemetery.&nbsp; &nbsp; Memorials are suggested to the Culbertson Ambulance or to the Culbertson Volunteer Fire Department. &nbsp;Online condolences may be left at herrmannfh.com. &nbsp;Arrangements have been entrusted to Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook.&nbsp;

Clarence Jankovits (1938-2023)

Tyrone C. Farmer, 82, of rural Brule, passed away at his home south of town on November 13, 2023.

Ty was born in Big Springs, Nebraska, on January 5, 1941, to Lloyd James and Augusta "Minnie" Marie (Meyer) Farmer. His life was marked by a remarkable work ethic and a profound transformation of faith.

Ty excelled as a welder, a craft he honed over many years. His hands, large and calloused from years of hard work, were a testament to his dedication and skill in his trade. Ty also spent a good amount of time farming and working in the gas industry. No matter what Ty was doing, from welding, driving a truck, closing a well, or sitting on a swather, he was committed to the task at hand.

Ty was known for his rugged exterior, which concealed a deeply loving and endearing nature. His stories to his friends often began with his signature phrase, "Now I ain't lying..." Despite his outward gruffness, those who knew him, experienced his genuine warmth and willingness to help anyone in need.

A highlight of Ty's life was his whirlwind romance with Patricia Marie Hitchcock. They married on July 20, 1978, after having known each other for a week. Their chance meeting in Lemoyne blossomed into a lifelong partnership. Together, they made their home in Brule, where they enjoyed raising miniature horses.

Ty had a passion for firearms and loved to go shooting. As a result, one of Ty's other great hobbies was reloading ammunition.

Later in life, Ty experienced a profound conversion and chose to be baptized and embrace faith in Christ. With this decision came a significant transformation, enriching his life and relationships in meaningful ways.

Ty was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patricia in 2021, his son James in 2021, his son-in-law Richard Brewster, and his brothers Larry and Gary Farmer.

Survivors include his children: Paul Farmer of Letcher, SD, Jennifer (Scott) Hovarter of Denver, CO, Samantha Farmer of Brule, Connie (Tim) Barrett of North Platte, Laurie (Scott) Cooper of Bradford, IA, and daughter-in-law Anna Scollard of Apple Valley, CA. Survivors also include his 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous relatives and friends.

Tyrone Farmer (1941-2023)

Cleao Fern Connell, 96, of North Platte, Nebraska, formerly of Tryon, Nebraska passed away November 14, 2023 at Linden Court in North Platte. &nbsp;She was born March 21, 1927 to Walter Henry and Laura Mae (Worden) Avery at home in rural McPherson County. &nbsp;

She grew up in the Sandhills in McPherson County and graduated from McPherson County High School with the class of 1945. &nbsp;Cleao worked for various families in McPherson County as a hired girl and one of her favorite memories of that time was helping when new babies came and she would help the doctor with the new babies and give them their first bath. &nbsp; She, along with a sister, moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming where she worked as a nanny. &nbsp;She returned to McPherson County, where she again worked for community families as a hired girl, caring for the children and helping out in the home. &nbsp;Care-giving was in her nature and she helped to care for her sister, Lucille, who was suffering from a brain tumor. &nbsp;Cleao was united in marriage to Lloyd Connell on July 20, 1952 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Platte. &nbsp; Lloyd and Cleao faithfully attended Gospel Ridge Sunday School, and later the United Methodist Church in Tryon. &nbsp;The couple lived on the Connell homestead north of Tryon, where they ranched and raised cattle and sheep. &nbsp; Cleao loved the ranch life and preferred to be outside, tending the livestock, working in the hayfield and the yard and garden more than most anything else. &nbsp;She worked side by side with Lloyd for over 60 years. &nbsp;She always had chickens and for many years had a little sheep herd. &nbsp; They continued to live at the homestead until 1999, when they “retired” and moved into Tryon. &nbsp;Cleao and Lloyd carried mail in the late 70’s and continued this for 30 years. &nbsp;Cleao really enjoyed the mail route and drove over 80 miles a day over Sandhills roads. &nbsp;She was committed at anything she did and the mail route was no exception, often shoveling snow to make it around the route. &nbsp;She was always willing to lend a helping hand and over the years she babysat for teachers and neighbors. &nbsp; Cleao loved babies, and especially the grandbabies. &nbsp;All of the grandchildren loved staying at Grandpa and Grandma’s and she enjoyed having them. &nbsp;Cleao enjoyed handwork and was a talented seamstress. &nbsp;She loved to crochet and taught herself to knit in her 60’s. &nbsp; Her family was the blessed recipients of much of her handwork, and crocheted afghans, tablecloths, quilts and stuffed animals were wonderful gifts. &nbsp;Although cooking was not her favorite thing to do, she was an excellent cook and could put a meal on the table for a crowd often with very little notice. &nbsp; Cleao was incredibly spunky and spry. &nbsp;
