Canon Rath talked with Tiffany Hernandez about the Banisters Leadership Academy upcoming car wash fundraiser on August 5th but also takes a more in-depth dive of what Banister Leadership Academy is.&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE, NEB - The Banister Leadership Academy is a nonprofit that helps strengthen youth and families through leadership skills, life skills, social skills, and job readiness. The program is offered for kids k-12. "We have various different programs geared towards the community and the kids' ages," said Tiffany Hernandez. "They come in, we feed them a hot meal and we teach them those leadership skills."&nbsp;

The fundraising event going on August 5th is a free will donation car wash from 11am - 2pm at Wash Time North on the corner of 12th and Jeffers. "We are a nonprofit, so we are always doing local fundraisers, so we have a free will donation car wash this Saturday," said Hernandez. "If you come during your lunch break, Rowdy Rott BBQ is also going to have their truck there and they are donating 10% of their proceeds to our (Banisters Leadership Academy) nonprofit."&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE, NEB - The Lincoln County Fair has slowly come to in end in North Platte but the 4-H participants geared up for the Lincoln County Livestock sale going on July 31st. This livestock sale is not like your typically livestock sale you may encounter. "It's a premium only auction so no livestock will actually be offered for sale," said Tayton Lucas. "The kids can bring there animals into the ring but whatever the amount is goes straight to the kids."&nbsp;

The complimentary buyers lunch was held from 11:30 am - 1pm with the sale beginning at 1pm. If you would like to learn more about the event but also these individuals involvements with 4-H, check out the podcast above.&nbsp;

(Audio) Lincoln County Fair Livestock Sale

Canon Rath talked with Lorena Beckius about the Ogallala Community School Supply Drive that is going on till August 7th.&nbsp;

OGALLALA, NEB - The community of Ogallala is doing a community wide school supply drive. These donations can help local students be prepared for the upcoming school year. The supplies can be pretty much school related like notebooks, folders, backpacks are just a few examples. It has been asked not to bring pencils or crayons since there is a good amount donated, however they won't turn them away if you wish to donate some. You can take your supplies to the yellow bus at Wolf Auto in Ogallala.&nbsp;

Canon Rath talked with Chelsey Myers about the upcoming Nebraska's Biggest Little Rodeo Logan County Fair and Rodeo in Stapleton. The two talked about 4-H and highlighted a few activities to enjoy.&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE, NEB - Nebraska's Biggest Little Rodeo Logan County Fair and Rodeo is approaching fast. The fair begins Saturday with different events for everyone in the family to enjoy. Also, the 4-H events will begin July 30th and will run through Saturday August 5th.&nbsp;&nbsp;

While there are plenty of events to do throughout the week, a new event is coming to this year's fair. On Friday, August 4th, Mini Barrel Race and Mini Bucking Bulls will be introduced for the first time. To participate in the Mini Barrel Race, you have to be 10 and under and to participate in Mini Bucking Bulls it's for ages 8-13. Check the flyer below for more information on the new event. The rodeo will kick off Saturday.&nbsp;

Canon Rath talked with Lorena Beckius about a special presentation going on tonight in Ogallala about Human Trafficking and how folks can be more educated and be aware of human trafficking.&nbsp;

OGALLALA, NEB - The city of Ogallala is holding a special presentation tonight at Memorial Park right by the tennis courts about human trafficking. The event is set to start at 6pm mountain time and will last tell 7:30pm mountain time. The guest speaker will be Nebraska State Trooper Tim Flick.&nbsp;

When the event starts at 6pm, there will be a freedom walk. Once the freedom walk is completed, there will be free hot dogs and that is when Trooper Tim Flick will start the presentation. If you would like to learn more in-depth about the event, check out the podcast above.&nbsp;

Canon Rath talked with the president of the Maxwell Wildcats Booster Club Marshall Robinson about the upcoming 4-man scramble at Lake Maloney.&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE, NEB - Summer time is always that time of year to get out and enjoy the outdoors. It's also a good time to get a golf tournament rolling. The 9th annual Maxwell Wildcats Booster Club 4-person scramble is scheduled for August 5th at Lake Maloney golf course in North Platte.&nbsp;

The booster club has made it known that the money raised will not only be used for sports but used for all activities and to help purchase a new mascot costume. Some of the money is also set aside for a scholarship. "Maxwell Booster club is in charge of raising money all year long to help the school with certain items," said Maxwell Booster Club President Marshall Robinson.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The 4-person golf scramble fundraiser event to help raise money for different activities at Maxwell Public Schools is scheduled to take place on August 5th at Lake Maloney Golf Course. The event is open to anyone who wants to sign up and play in it. It cost $280 per team includes lunch and hole prizes. To sign up you can go to Lake Maloney or call the club house at 308-532-9998 or can you call Maxwell Public Schools at 308-582-4585 and ask for Dani.&nbsp;<br><br>

It is also a premium sale which means no livestock will be sold at the event. There is a complimentary buyer lunch from 11:30am - 1pm.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Coy has been doing 4-H for 4 years now. He also shows multiple animals for 4-H as he shows off horses, goats, and cows. 4-H is also another good experience for Corfield since he has made many friends. He has also taken some good life lessons from 4-H. "I've learned that you want to work hard and if you want to win grand champion, you have to work hard with your steers," said Coy Corfield.&nbsp;

(Audio) Livestock Sale - Conversation with Coy Corfield

McCook, Nebr - #2 Ogallala defeated #6 Broken Bow in walk off fashion in game one 4-3, then dominated Broken Bow in game two 17-8 to advance to the 2023 Class B State Tournament this weekend in Pierce, Nebraska. The tournament begins July 29th and runs through August 2nd.&nbsp;

It was a pitchers/defensive dual between both teams. Ogallala's Caden Rezac who got the start game 1 started the game with a strike out but ended up walking the next four batters which gave Broken Bow an early 1-0 but after a mound visit from Ogallala Head Coach Ty Benson, Rezac went on to strike out the top half of the side.&nbsp;

Starting on the mound for Broken Bow was Central Methodist commit Gavin Goodner. First pitch he threw, Rezac sent flying down the right field line for a solo shot homerun to tie the game at 1. Both pitchers only allowed 1 run through three innings.

In the bottom half of the 4th, Ogallala's Jayden Curtis started the inning off with a single. Next batter Max Mueller would walk to first. Goodner would battle back to strike out the next two batters. With two outs and Curtis at third, Mueller at second, Michael Redden was at the plate. Goodner, who thought he struck out Redden, was called for a balk by the third base umpire which scored Curtis to give a 2-1.

Ogallala would add one more run in the bottom of the 6th to expand their lead 3-1. In the top of the 7th, Broken Bow third baseman Hagan Campbell started the inning off with a double. Next batter, Eli Coble would reach first on a walk. Brice Chaplin would hit a double to centerfield which brought in two runs tying the game at 3. A hard-hit ground ball to Curtis was fielded and the throw was in time for out #3.

Cole Stokey would lead off the bottom of the 7th with a single. Coming to the plate later in the inning was cleanup hitter Curtis who would send a deep ball to centerfield which scored the game winning run where Ogallala won game one 4-3.

Rezac would throw 5 2/3 innings striking out 14. He didn't allow a hit. Colton Knispel would come in relief to finish the game. Knispel struck out 1 in his appearance. Ogallala would combine for 6 hits in the game.

Broken Bow's Caden Holm who is heading into his sophomore year of college and a member of the Hastings College Bronco baseball team would get his 2nd appearance against Ogallala. Aydan Halligan would get a single off Holm and later score in the top half of the inning where Holm walked him in. Ogallala would take a 1-0 heading to the bottom half of the 1st.

Colton Knispel would start the 2nd game for Ogallala after he had thrown 29 pitches to stay under the pitch count previously. Broken Bow catcher Max Dension which reach base after sending a double to left center field. Next batter Brice Chaplin would hit a 2-run homerun to left field to give Broken Bow a 2-1.

Ogallala would remain scoreless after the top half of the 2nd while Broken Bow would add 3 runs in the bottom half. This postseason, Ogallala has had games where they would explode in an inning. In the top half of the 3rd, Ogallala would score 8 runs. Only 3 hits in the inning, however Holm who would walk 6 batters and was pulled from the game. <p>Canon Rath - North Platte Post</p><p>McCook, Nebr - #2 Ogallala defeated #6 Broken Bow in walk off fashion in game one 4-3, then dominated Broken Bow in game two 17-8 to advance to the 2023 Class B State Tournament this weekend in Pierce, Nebraska. The tournament begins July 29th and runs through August 2nd.&nbsp;</p><figure>

                    </figure><p><b>Game One Recap</b></p><p>It was a pitchers/defensive dual between both teams. Ogallala's Caden Rezac who got the start game 1 started the game with a strike out but ended up walking the next four batters which gave Broken Bow an early 1-0 but after a mound visit from Ogallala Head Coach Ty Benson, Rezac went on to strike out the top half of the side.&nbsp;</p><p>Starting on the mound for Broken Bow was Central Methodist commit Gavin Goodner. First pitch he threw, Rezac sent flying down the right field line for a solo shot homerun to tie the game at 1. Both pitchers only allowed 1 run through three innings.</p><p>In the bottom half of the 4th, Ogallala's Jayden Curtis started the inning off with a single. Next batter Max Mueller would walk to first. Goodner would battle back to strike out the next two batters. With two outs and Curtis at third, Mueller at second, Michael Redden was at the plate. Goodner, who thought he struck out Redden, was called for a balk by the third base umpire which scored Curtis to give a 2-1.</p><p>Ogallala would add one more run in the bottom of the 6th to expand their lead 3-1. In the top of the 7th, Broken Bow third baseman Hagan Campbell started the inning off with a double. Next batter, Eli Coble would reach first on a walk. Brice Chaplin would hit a double to centerfield which brought in two runs tying the game at 3. A hard-hit ground ball to Curtis was fielded and the throw was in time for out #3.</p><p>Cole Stokey would lead off the bottom of the 7th with a single. Coming to the plate later in the inning was cleanup hitter Curtis who would send a deep ball to centerfield which scored the game winning run where Ogallala won game one 4-3.</p><p>Rezac would throw 5 2/3 innings striking out 14. He didn't allow a hit. Colton Knispel would come in relief to finish the game. Knispel struck out 1 in his appearance. Ogallala would combine for 6 hits in the game.</p><figure>

Aydan Halligan would get a single off Holm and later score in the top half of the inning where Holm walked him in. Ogallala would take a 1-0 heading to the bottom half of the 1st.</p><p>Colton Knispel would start the 2nd game for Ogallala after he had thrown 29 pitches to stay under the pitch count previously. Broken Bow catcher Max Dension which reach base after sending a double to left center field. Next batter Brice Chaplin would hit a 2-run homerun to left field to give Broken Bow a 2-1.</p><p>Ogallala would remain scoreless after the top half of the 2nd while Broken Bow would add 3 runs in the bottom half. This postseason, Ogallala has had games where they would explode in an inning. In the top half of the 3rd, Ogallala would score 8 runs. Only 3 hits in the inning, however Holm who would walk 6 batters and was pulled from the game. NORTH PLATTE, NEB - A friendly but competitive fundraiser softball game is coming up between the North Platte Softball team vs the FNBO First National Legion Baseball team in a battle of the bats. Teammates Mentoring is a nonprofit organization that's mission is to positively impact the world by inspiring students to reach their full potential through mentoring. The proceeds of this event go to Teammates Mentoring. It's the 5th Annual Rumble by the River to battle between the boys legion baseball team and girls' softball team. "About 6 years ago my daughter was a softball player and there was a lot of banter back and forth between the boys and girl’s teams and I thought what a better way to raise money for Teammates is to have a game," said Molly Morales.&nbsp;

Ricky Holm, who is the FNBO Nationals Legion baseball coach, was apart of this event two years ago during his first year as head coach. "I know we did this two years ago in my first-year coach and it was a lot of fun," said FNBO Nationals Coach Ricky Holm. "Were getting out there for a good cause and competing against fellow classmates."&nbsp;

The event is July 30th at 6pm at the Dowhower softball Complex. Admission is $5 at the gates. FNBO Bank will be at the ballpark grilling food. NORTH PLATTE, NEB - Boxing is heading to North Platte this weekend when the Buffalo Bill Brawl returns to the D&amp;N Event Center. This weekend's event will be streamed on the NorthPlattePost.com Saturday and Sunday and the championship matches will be aired live on FM98-1 and AM 14-10 on Sunday. Boxers from 13 states will be in North Platte this weekend.&nbsp;

This boxing tournament is a well-known tournament in Nebraska. "It is a regional tournament that is the largest in Nebraska and we actually broke our record this year as we have 136 boxers coming from over 13 different states," said Brad Garrick. "Kids from all over the place will be here and it's a fun event." Some of the states where boxers come from are Nebraska, Colorado, Illinois, Michigan, North Dakota, Montana.&nbsp;&nbsp;

FNBO Nationals end of season review

McCook, Nebr - #2 Ogallala moves on to the B6 American Legion Seniors Tournament Championship Game after defeating #5 Holdrege 12-4 Monday night in the elimination game. Ogallala will have a rematch with #6 Broken Bow who they lost to 9-4 Sunday afternoon. Ogallala will have to win twice to advance to the state tournament. They will take on Broken Bow tomorrow at 4:30 MST. Ogallala's rematch with Holdrege started off very similar to the first time these two teams played in the first round of districts on Friday. Scoreless two innings for both teams before Holdrege would strike first in the bottom of the third. Holdrege's Matt Janssen would reach on base from a hit by pitch. Beau Jensen also reached base before Keagan Steinke would hit a 2 RBI double to give Holdrege an early l2-0.

Top of the fourth, Ogallala's Ian Shaw would hit a double in the inning. Max Mueller would also hit a double to score Shaw. Next batter, Colton Knispel single would score Mueller to tie the game at 2. Both teams would score a run in the fourth which resulted the score 3-3 after four completed innings.

This post season run, Ogallala has had an explosive inning minus the Broken Bow game and this time it was the top half of the fifth inning. The team would rack in 7 runs to extend there lead 9-2. Caden Rezac's two triples in the fifth was the highlight of the inning. Shaw would also hit a triple in the fifth inning as well.&nbsp;

Things got quiet tell the top half of the 7th when Rezac would send a three run homerun down the right field line to give us the final score of 12-4. Hitting and pitching was a key component for Ogallala in tonight's elimination game.

Getting the start for Ogallala tonight was Aydan Halligan. Halligan would throw 5 innings while striking out three batters. Cole Stokey would toss the 6th inning striking out one while Josh Christensen would finish the 7th inning striking out two batters. As a whole the staff struck out 6 batters and allowed 7 hits.

Holdrege would start Keagan Stienke who would go 4 2/3 striking out 4. Trey Weaver would come in relief but got pulled after 4 batters. Cole Guthrie would finish the game for Holdrege striking out three batters.

Ogallala's hot bats would finish the game with 14 hits. Rezac was 4 for 5 with a single, two triples, and a three run homerun. He was a double shy from the cycle. Shaw went 3 for 4 with a single and two doubles. Mueller was 2 for 5 with a single and a double.&nbsp;

Ogallala Advances to the B6 American Legion Senior's Tournament Championship Game

Canon Rath talked with Amanda Carr about the upcoming Lincoln County July 26th-July 31st.

NORTH PLATTE, NEB - It's fair week here for the Lincoln County fair. The fair festivals which begins July 26th - July 31st have plenty of events for everyone in the family to enjoy. However, the 4-H fair schedule began today with the dog show. Throughout the week, their are plenty of 4-H events from the bake good sales, to animal showings that are happening. For the festival events, the highlighted event this year is the Easton Corbin concert on Friday. Kearney native Jason Mayher will be the opener for Corbin. The event is located at the racetrack. Gates open at 6pm, with Mayher starting at 7pm and Easton Corbin performs at 9pm. The fan favorite pig wrestling event is Saturday at 6pm at the Wild West Arena. All ages can come out and enjoy. Registrations will be at 5pm on Saturday. Lincoln County Fair Preview - Conversation with Amanda Carr

McCook, Nebr - #2 Ogallala defeated #3 McCook 13-8 after a back-and-forth battle Saturday at the Jaycee Complex in McCook for day 2 of the B6 American Legion Seniors Tournament. Ogallala will take on Broken Bow Sunday afternoon in the winners' bracket at 12 pm MST.&nbsp;

It was a very similar start to game 2 for Ogallala as both teams were held scoreless through the first two innings. Ogallala who was the visiting team in today's contest would plate 6 runs in the top half of the third inning. Ogallala's Caden Rezac would start the top of the third with a stand up triple and would later come around to score the first points of the game. McCook pitcher Brady Graham struggled in the third, walking two batters and hitting two batters. He would later be replaced by Quentin Terry.&nbsp;

McCook would cut the lead in half after they would score three in the bottom of the fourth. Ogallala couldn't add run insurance in the top of the fifth while McCook would eventually tie the game at 7 after the fifth.

Ogallala would add insurance in the top of the sixth when they would again add another 6 runs. Ogallala's Ian Shaw started the inning getting hit by a pitch before stealing two bags. Jayden Curtis hit a hard hit down the third base line to score Shaw and helped get the momentum rolling.

Ogallala would add one more in the seventh for good measures as they would defeat McCook 13-8. In the game, Ogallala would throw 4 pitchers on the mound. Colton Knispel would get the start and throw three innings striking out 3 batters. Also getting appearances was Aydan Halligan, Cole Stokey, and Caden Rezac where Rezac would finish the game. The Ogallala pitching staff would combine to strike out 8 batters. McCook threw 4 pitchers as well on the mound.&nbsp;

Earlier in the day #1 Minden was eliminated by Holdrege 4-2. Broken Bow defeated Gothenburg 11-3 which also eliminated Gothenburg from the tournament. Ogallala will take on Broken Bow in the winner's bracket for the first game of the day with a 12 pm MST start. McCook and Holdrege will battle it out in the loser's bracket with their game set to begin at 4:00 pm central time.

Dominating pitching performance from Ogallala's Ian Shaw as he struck out all 9 batters he faced. Caden Rezac would come in relief for Shaw in the top of the 4th and would finish his day with 5 strikeouts. As a whole, the Ogallala pitching staff would strike out 14 batters and only giving up 1 hit in the entire contest.

Slow start for both teams as it was tied 0-0 heading into the bottom of the third before Jayden Curtis would get a single which got the bats rolling for Ogallala. 4 straight singles, walks, and errors committed by Holdrege would help contribute to 7 runs in the bottom half of the third inning.

Holdrege Farm Bureau hung on for the 4th inning, but Rezac would knock Curtis's home in the bottom half of the 5th to push the lead to 8 and eventually call the game to mercy rule where Ogallala was victorous 8-0.

Earlier in the day Broken Bow defeated top seeded Minden 15-0, Broken Bow will play Gothenburg who lost to McCook 12-4 in 5 innings at 2pm Central Time in McCook on Saturday afternoon. The 11 am elimination game will feature Minden taking on Holdrege.

NORTH PLATTE, NEB - The 2023 Hershey Fall Festival is coming up on August 26, 2023. The festival, which lasts all day, starts with a parade in the morning and will cap off with a concert at night. There are plenty of events throughout the day for families and folks to enjoy.&nbsp;

The festival is held by the Lions club every year and is a way the Lion's club gives back to the community. "The Hershey Fall Festival is our annual celebration out in Hershey, put on by the Hershey's Lions club and it's just our way to give back to the community and fundraiser for our club for the year," said Justin Petska. "We do a lot of different community improvement projects and help other non-profits with their projects."&nbsp;

This year, the parade which starts at 10:30 central time will kick off the event that starts on main street and ends at the park and there will be a free will donation prime rib feed that will begin at the park at the conclusion of the parade. Highlighting the concert will be Muscadine Bloodline and the concert will take place on main street where the stage will be set up by the railroad walkway. Canon Rath talked with committee members of the North Platte Young Professionals Cassie Condon, Jacob Rissler, and Pat Jacobson about the Big Idea North Platte 2023 event.&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE, NEB – The 4th annual Big Idea North Platte is coming back to North Platte with the live event taking place October 18th, 2023, at Venue 304 in North Platte. The Big Idea North Platte 2023 event is an opportunity where community members can share their ideas, product, or event new business. It’s also a great way to earn prize money or scholarship money.&nbsp;

The North Platte Young Professionals are hosting the event. The North Platte Young Professionals strives to retain young leaders ages 21-40 in North Platte. “We are a subcommittee of the North Platte Area Chamber and Development corporation and North Platte Young Professionals, it's our mission to create and retain young leaders,” said North Platte Young Professional Committee Member Cassie Condon.&nbsp;

The Big Idea North Platte 2023 is a great opportunity for community members who want to pitch an idea, a product, or their own business. The competition lets folks compete against one another, but also shows the creativity that an individual can come up. “This event was created to give you an opportunity to network with professionals and provide educational value that is readily available outside your normal circles that you are talking too,” said Condon. “It’s a great way to get your idea out there and reviewed by local experts.”&nbsp;

Last year, the Big Idea event only hosted one category. At the time, youths ages 10-18, if they won, they would receive scholarship money for their idea. This year, the youth category is back sponsored by Mid Plains Community College. Winners in the youth category can earn themselves a scholarship. “We decided to put in some scholarships, so for that youth category we are giving away some great scholarships for students,” said North Platte Young Professional Committee Member Jacob Rissler. “We love being part of the economic development, retaining young professionals and also keeping great ideas in the community.” The youth category has three places you can win. Third place earns you $500, second place is $1,000, and first place is $2,500. The scholarship money can be used at Mid Plains North Platte campus, McCook’s campus, or any of Mid Plans community campuses. &nbsp;

The community category this year is being sponsored by Eagle Communication through the Schmidt Foundation. Just like last year, in honor of the Schmidt Foundation, Eagle Communications is donating a generous amount to this year's top three winners and to invest in the idea of members of the North Platte Community. “The Schmidt foundation has generously donated big prizes this year,” said North Platte Young Professional Committee Member Pat Jacobson. “Third place is $3,000, second place is $7,000, and the first-place winner is $10,000 plus marketing packages that Eagle will provide.”&nbsp;

Winners in the youth category can earn themselves a scholarship. “We decided to put in some scholarships, so for that youth category we are giving away some great scholarships for students,” said North Platte Young Professional Committee Member Jacob Rissler. “We love being part of the economic development, retaining young professionals and also keeping great ideas in the community.” The youth category has three places you can win. Third place earns you $500, second place is $1,000, and first place is $2,500. The scholarship money can be used at Mid Plains North Platte campus, McCook’s campus, or any of Mid Plans community campuses. &nbsp;</p><p>The community category this year is being sponsored by Eagle Communication through the Schmidt Foundation. Livin Out Loud, which is heading into its 12th year, is the largest outdoor Christian festival that welcomes Christians from all around to Gothenburg for the two-day event. "We have the largest outdoor Christian festival ever year in Gothenburg about 15 - 20,000 people show up," said Koby Rickertsen. "It's a great deal for the area."&nbsp;

The event is free to the public. There will be plenty of artists that are performing during the event. Also, tons of food truck vendors will be there. NORTH PLATTE, NEB – The July 18th North Platte City Council meeting has officially come and gone and there were different discussion points from the meeting. Some of the highlighted topic points featured consent appointments, property changes, annexation near the 2300 block of 18th street, changes to telecommunications, creating an occupation tax on the ownership of skills games, and lastly&nbsp;special presentations from students from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.&nbsp;

The council talked about some land on the northwest part of North Platte, that’s a block just adjacent to the North Platte community. During the meeting, there has been talk about possibly selling the land. “There is some interest in possibly selling that lot and maybe have that developed and its generally a practice if the property&nbsp;is adjacent to the community and if they want to be made improvements or developed,” said Council President Jim Nisley. “We have nixed that property and it’s a proper processor to do and it’s a good thing we will get some housing.”&nbsp;

Canon Rath talks with Lori Hansen about the Miracle League of Lincoln County event going on July 23rd as the Miracle League will be taking on the North Platte Plainsmen in a 2-inning exhibition game before the Plainsmen game against the Denver Cougars.

NORTH PLATTE, NEB - The Miracle League of Lincoln County who have been playing all summer long get ready to match up with their next opponent, the North Platte Plainsmen this Sunday, July 29th at 3 pm. The Miracle League is a nonprofit, nationwide organization that helps special needs athletes play the sport of baseball. The Miracle League removes the barriers that keep children with mental and physical disabilities off the baseball field and lets them experience the joy of America’s favorite pastime. "The Miracle League of Lincoln County is our special needs baseball program, we started out as Buddy Ball several years ago and we have since revamped and became the Miracle League of Lincoln County," said Lori Hansen.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Before the Plainsmen game, there will be a two-inning exhibition game between the Miracle League and the Plainsmen. The Miracle League played against the FNBO Nationals senior team back on May 25th, and the Plainsmen were in attendance for the game. The Plainsmen invited the Miracle League for a 2-inning exhibition contest before Sunday's game.&nbsp;

Following the exhibition contest, the Miracle League athletes will be participating in different activities throughout the Plainsmen game. This includes joining the team for starting lineups, participating in the in between contest, and so much more.&nbsp;

The Plainsmen are donating a portion of ticket sales back to the Miracle League of Lincoln County. This is one of many fundraiser events the Miracle league is hosting to raise money for an adaptive field for their athletes to play their games on. “An adaptive field is completely different than a regular turf college size field so were super excited to have that in North Platte and use it for other sports besides baseball,” said Hansen.&nbsp;

One of the most anticipated events this year is the pig wrestling contest. The event will be held in the evening but also will features teams of 4. "We will start registration at 5, we will pig wrestle at 6 and its teams of 4. Adult teams are $40 and it can be men, women or mixed," said Amanda Carr. "Children teams are $20 and it can be 4 of them and however they want to do it."

Lake McConaughy Area Outdoor Report for week of July 10

NORTH PLATTE, NEB - The Community Health Fair is going on this Friday and Saturday at North Platte Highschool. The health fair is heading into its second year after last year it was held for Hispanic focus healthcare fair. "As we look at this year our community continues to diversify, we thought it would be important to that up to the entire community especially focusing on minorities and underserved," said TinaMaria Fernandez. "We reached out to many other entities in the community, got everyone at the table and were throwing a large community health fair."&nbsp;

There are many services offered to families but a big goal that the health fair is committed to is helping families get their kids ready for school whether its a physicals, check up, or shots. "Our goal is to try and help them have a one stop shop to get enrolled for school," said Elizabeth Thayer. "We are looking for families who need vaccines, who need physicals for their kids, who need those pre offerings before they can enroll and then we are going to be able to get them enrolled right then at the high school."&nbsp;

The event is free to the public and offers a wide variety of activities to do as well. There will be educational presentations throughout the event, activities for the kids to do while they are waiting and they can earn free items. There will also be language access provided to non-English speakers. The event is at North Platte High School from Friday 4pm-7pm central time and Saturday 1pm - 3pm central time. NORTH PLATTE, NEB - La Feria de Salud Comunitaria se llevará a cabo este viernes y sábado en la North Platte Highschool.&nbsp; Este será el segundo año de la feria de saludo después de que el año pasado la feria fue enfocada en la atención médica de los Hispanos. "Mientras miramos este año, nuestra comunidad continúa diversificándose, pensamos que sería importante para toda la comunidad, especialmente centrándonos en las minorías y los desatendidos", dijo TinaMaria Fernandez. "Nos pusimos en contacto con muchas otras entidades de la comunidad, reunimos a todos en la mesa y organizamos una gran feria de salud comunitaria". "Mientras miramos este año, nuestra comunidad continúa diversificándose, pensamos que sería importante para toda la comunidad, especialmente centrándonos en las minorías y los desatendidos", dijo TinaMaria Fernandez. "Nos pusimos en contacto con muchas otras entidades de la comunidad, reunimos a todos en la mesa y organizamos una gran feria de salud comunitaria". Hay muchos servicios que se ofrecen a las familias, pero un gran objetivo con el que está comprometida la feria de salud es con ayudar a las familias a preparar a sus hijos para la escuela, ya se con los físicos, chequeos o vacunas. “Nuestro objetivo es tratar de ayudarlos que en una parada puedan hacer todo para inscribirse en la escuela", dijo Elizabeth Thayer. "Estamos buscando familias que necesiten vacunas, que necesiten exámenes físicos para sus hijos, que necesiten esas ofertas previas antes de que puedan inscribirse y luego podremos inscribirlos ahí en ese momento que estemos ahí en la preparatoria. El evento es gratuito para el público y ofrece una amplia variedad de actividades que ellos pueden hacer mientras están ahí. Habrá presentaciones educativas durante todo el evento, actividades que los niños hagan mientras esperan y pueden ganar cosas gratis. También habrá acceso a idiomas para personas que no hablen inglés.
