January 23, 2025 (North Platte, Neb.)&nbsp;&nbsp;— Investigators with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested two people in southwest Nebraska as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.

Wednesday, investigators served a search warrant at a residence in rural Lamar, in Chase County. The NSP SWAT Team was activated as part of this operation. Both occupants had active warrants for their arrest.

As the SWAT Team made verbal contact with the occupants of the home, both voluntarily exited the residence and were taken into custody. The search of the residence revealed 16 grams of methamphetamine, eight ounces of marijuana, 12 firearms, and two stolen motorcycles.

The male occupant, Kenneth Johnston, 45, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for distribution of a controlled substance, and for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of stolen property, possession of a stolen vehicle, and conspiracy to commit theft. He was lodged in Lincoln County Jail. 

The female occupant, Lindsey Bartorelli, 39, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for theft and lodged in Chase County Jail.

NSP investigators were assisted by troopers from several divisions of NSP, as well as the CODE Task Force, Imperial Police Department, and Chase County Sheriff’s Office.

North Platte, Neb. - When most folks here 4-H, they instantly think it's animal showing, which there is plenty of that. There are different areas of activities for 4-H'rs to get involved in and one of those areas is the music contest where the kids can participate in by using just vocals, playing an instrument, or even both.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Jayden Tillman is a senior at Brady High School and has been involved in the music contest since he was in 8th or 9th grade. Around that same time is when he started to develop an interest in music. When participating he likes to use his vocal cords and play his guitar.&nbsp;&nbsp;

"The music contest. It's a really an overly glorified talent show. It is a phenomenal thing," said Tillman. &nbsp;"You can take it. You can have time to showcase your talents, whether it be poetry or singing or just playing an instrument and stuff, you know, gives you a way to express yourself and kind of show your skills to people that you may not otherwise be able to show them to and stuff. It is a really, like I said, really good deal and stuff to do.&nbsp;

While not participating in the music contest, Tillman likes to enter bake goodies during the fair season and more He is also the recipient of the 4 H council scholarship and plans to go a tech school in Kansas following his graduation from Brady.&nbsp;

Santa Claus will also be making an appearance at the event. This event is a way for Grandels to give back to their community. Kearney, Neb. - The University of Nebraska at Kearney sports communication majors received news that the group has been nominated in three categories for this year's IBS awards in New York City. &nbsp;

Amongst the students is North Platte native Kade Mohr who has been nominated for the second year and this year is a finalist with seniors Jon Willis and Ethan McCormick for "Best Sports Talk Show". All sporting events and talk show aired on 91.1 KLPR the student run radio station during the 2024 year. Lincoln, Neb. — Nebraska LEAD Program Class 42 recently returned from an impactful International Study/Travel Seminar to Romania, Hungary and Poland, held from January 3-17, 2025. The two-week journey provided 28 fellows with an immersive opportunity to explore the historical, cultural, religious and agricultural dimensions of these Eastern European nations.

“The International Study/Travel Seminar is a cornerstone of the Nebraska LEAD Program, offering Fellows an invaluable global perspective that enhances their leadership skills and understanding of agriculture in a global context,” said Kurtis Harms, Nebraska LEAD Program director. “This year’s visit to Romania, Hungary and Poland provided meaningful experiences and connections that will undoubtedly shape our Fellows as future leaders.”

The seminar featured a diverse itinerary, including visits to farms, businesses and historical sites. Highlights of the trip included:

“Visiting these countries opened my eyes to the shared challenges and opportunities we face in agriculture,” said LEAD 42 Fellow Jake Werner, a senior merchandiser with ADM. “Seeing how farms in Romania and Poland operate and hearing their stories inspired me to think differently about how we approach our agricultural systems back home. The visit also helped me appreciate the local and international markets we have in the United States.”

Fellow Michelle Bose, a farmer and closing agent with Dvoracek Title, added, “Walking through Auschwitz-Birkenau and Schindler’s Factory was an emotional experience that deepened my appreciation for the resilience of humanity and the importance of leadership grounded in empathy and understanding.”

The Nebraska LEAD Program continues to prepare agricultural leaders for tomorrow through its comprehensive leadership development curriculum. The International Study/Travel Seminar serves as a capstone experience, equipping participants with global perspectives that enrich Nebraska’s agricultural and rural communities.

“One of the most important factors in becoming a good leader is being able to get outside of your bubble or your comfort zone and experience life through the eyes others,” said Director Harms. “This enhanced understanding of people and cultures around the world hopefully lead to better decision-making and greater relationships with others.”

Nebraska LEAD Program Explores Eastern Europe During International Study Travel Seminar

Omaha, Neb. - Union Pacific Corporation (NYSE: UNP) today reported 2024 fourth quarter net income of $1.8 billion, or $2.91 per diluted share. Union Pacific Reports Fourth Quarter and Full Year 2024 Results

Lexington, Neb, - A Lexington man has been arrested and charged with first degree homicide.

According to the Lexington Police Department (LPD), around 10:45pm on Tuesday evening, LPD officers were dispatched to the Cypress Lane area in Lexington for a verbal altercation.

Officers arrived on scene and made contact with the caller and observed a silver two door vehicle stalled in the front yard of the home.&nbsp; Preliminary investigation showed it was determined there was an adult male subject inside of the vehicle and that he was deceased. 

LPD states officers also observed numerous bullet holes in the windshield and front area of the vehicle. The Lexington Police Department Investigators were then called out to process the scene. Officers and Investigators located physical evidence at the scene as well as conducted follow up interviews with witnesses. 

A 33-year-old Lexington man identified as Aristh D. Rodriguez Linares was arrested and booked into the Dawson County Jail on suspicion of First-Degree Murder, Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony, and Discharging a Firearm into a Vehicle or Person.

The Lexington Police Department was assisted on scene by the Dawson County Sheriff's Office, the Buffalo County Sheriff's Office and the South-Central Area Law Enforcement Services. An autopsy is scheduled for later this week. The name of the victim is being withheld pending family notification. 

This is an on-going investigation and will be conducted by the Lexington Police Department.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The University of NE-Lincoln ALEC Department and the&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.education.ne.gov/nce/nebraska-agricultural-educators-association/">Nebraska Agricultural Educators Association</a>&nbsp;recently hosted a 2-day professional development BriefCASE at Crete High School. This professional development was held in conjunction with the Nebraska FFA Alumni and Supporters Conference.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Participants traveled from across Nebraska and South Dakota to participate in this excellent opportunity for intense professional development. The institute provided experience in a full year of curriculum for Animal Health and Veterinary Science. This professional development opportunity was funded, in part, by the Nebraska FFA Foundation which Miss Aylward received a scholarship from to attend. The curriculum was written by CASE 4 Learning. CASE is an acronym for Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education and is an initiative of the National Council for Agricultural Education (The Council.)&nbsp;

CASE 4 Learning is committed to designing an inquiry-based agricultural curriculum that meets the current demands of teachers, students, and industry. CASE 4 Learning provides comprehensive professional development and workshops for new and seasoned teachers to achieve lifetime certification, learn new coursework, and build a community of support. Upon certification, all CASE 4 Learning teachers have access to course updates, training, and support for the remainder of their career. The curriculum is designed to spiral and scaffold course concepts, incorporate APP (Activity, Project, or Problem) modalities, and meet core standards to equip teachers and schools to help students become lifelong learners and prepare them for college or careers.

While at the BriefCASE Institute, Miss Aylward experienced every lesson in the curriculum and learned how to deliver lessons using inquiry-based learning, shifting focus from teacher-led to student-directed learning.&nbsp;

Wauneta, Neb. - Local first responder crews responded to a structure fire early Tuesday morning around 4:00 am. The Wauneta Fire Chief stated on a social media post that no one was inside the structure and there were no injuries.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Responding and assisting at the scene was Imperial Fire, Palisade Fire, and Wauneta EMS.&nbsp;

North Platte, Neb. - On 01-22-25 at around 7:00 A.M. Officers from the North Platte Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 1500 block of West 9th Street, on the report of a subject who threatened a family member with a flare gun and discharged the flare gun out of a window, setting a neighbor’s lawn on fire. The subject hid in a closet and refused to come out. 

While negotiations were being attempted, the subject once again discharged the flare gun into the street, officers were able to take the subject into custody. The adult male was taken to GPH and placed into Emergency Protective Custody.

North Platte, Neb. -&nbsp;On 01-21-25, officers responded to 900 Autumn Park Drive on the report of a male inside an apartment who threatened himself and others with a firearm. The apartment containing the suspect was secured and residents from surrounding apartments were evacuated. Negotiations with the subject were attempted. 

Entry was gained into the apartment and the suspect was found deceased. Because the apartment had been secured by the North Platte Police Department, possibly prior to the subject’s death, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department was contacted and will conduct the death investigation in order to meet the statutory obligations of the grand jury process.

All-Time Series:&nbsp;Omaha leads 3-1 (May 9, 2024, at Omaha last matchup, 3-0 OMA)&nbsp;&nbsp;

Series Notes:&nbsp;This is the fifth match between Omaha and Columbus. The Supernovas won the 2024 season series 3-1, including a 1-1 record at Nationwide Arena. The Fury took down the Supernovas in their first-ever home match in Columbus with a four-set victory on Feb. 21, 2024. The Supernovas went on to win the remaining three matches, including two four-setters on April 4 and May 4, which was followed by an Omaha sweep on May 9.&nbsp;

Hording the Net:&nbsp;Omaha middle Kaitlyn Hord has been one of the premier blockers in the league through the first two weeks of the 2025 season. The former Husker and Nittany Lion leads the PVF in total blocks with 16 while sitting second in blocks per set at 0.94. Hord's seven blocks in the five-set win over the Vibe on opening night set a Supernovas single-match record. Also, she is only one of two players in the PVF to record seven or more blocks in a match this season. The Kentucky native also sits ninth in hitting percentage with a .333 clip through 54 attacks with 21 kills and only three errors.&nbsp;

• After averaging over 12 kills and digs per match last season, Supernovas outside hitter Brooke Nuneviller has raised her game in 2025.

• Nuneviller currently leads the league in points with 83 through 17 sets. That's made up of 77 kills and six blocks. Plus, she's second in the PVF in points per set with 4.88.&nbsp;

• The Chandler, Arizona native is one of only two players in the league to record a match with 20+ kills and 15+ digs. That was on opening night against Atlanta when she poured in 22 kills and 17 digs while hitting .340.&nbsp;

• The Oregon product has been averaging 19.25 kills and 16.0 digs per match through four contests. Her kill total (77) is first in the PVF while her kills per set (4.53) number is second in the league.&nbsp;

• Nuneviller is fifth in total digs with 64, which is more than five of the eight starting liberos in the PVF. Additionally, her 3.76 digs per set mark is eighth.&nbsp;

The Cooper Curve:&nbsp;Reigning 2024 PVF Rookie of the Year Reagan Cooper has had a solid start to the 2025 season highlighted by her serving game. Cooper has become the best server for the Supernovas recording a team-high five aces and 0.38 per set, which is both third in the league. The second-year pro is on pace to smash her rookie year serving totals when she only had eight aces in 82 sets last year in Columbus. Cooper became the first Supernovas player to put down an ace in three or more consecutive matches since Bethania De&nbsp;La Cruz did so last season. De La Cruz accomplished that feat in seven-straight contests en route to being named the 2024 PVF Server of the Year. The Rowlett, Texas native posted an ace in both the season-opening win over Atlanta and the sweep of Grand Rapids. She followed with two aces against the Thrill last Friday before another ace in the four-set defeat to San Diego on Sunday. Cooper hasn't matched her offensive numbers from last year, but she's still been a big threat with 46 kills and 3.54 kills per set with both stats second on the team.&nbsp;

Head Coach Fred HoibergOn toughness being an issue&nbsp;“I thought we took a huge step in the right direction the last couple of games on the glass and the 50-50 balls, but tonight that was the difference. You have got to get on the ground, you have an opportunity, you can’t just lean over and just try to pick it up with one hand, these guys are too strong, too athletic that we are playing against every night. You have to find a way to get dirty, get grimy and finish off those possessions. We do that and it's a different outcome tonight. We switched up some coverages to force some misses, but we just could not secure the rebound. The biggest thing now. We have to find a way to steal a couple on the road. We have some really good opportunities ahead of us and some very difficult tasks, but we have to stay together. When you're on a streak like we are right now, the human nature is to start questioning and to separate a little bit, but we have to find a way to stay together through this tough time and hopefully get this thing reversed soon. We are going into one of the most difficult places to play in the league on Sunday, a team that is really clicking right now. This USC team is a really talented team. We knew this was going to be a tough game, Muss (Eric Musselman) does a great job, they found a formula we tried to counter with a matchup on the other end and went back-and-forth. They made the plays at the end when they had to.”

On the frustration of losing“They’re all frustrating, anytime you lose, it’s frustrating as hell. You just keep trying to take steps. We took steps in a lot of things tonight, but again it all comes down to loose balls and toughness.”

Brice WilliamsOn tonight’s mistakes“It showed tonight, it showed in my leadership, it showed up in a lot of ways, and when it comes down to winning time you can’t really have certain mistakes. The mistakes we had they have just been compounding from game to game, and that’s why we’re on a streak. It’s going to take for us to stand up and take control, control the narrative, and be tougher.”

On the defensive struggles“They found something that was working for them. We knew what they were going to do, they out-toughed us. We got the stop on the first shot, and then they got the second shot or third shot, or we compounded it with fouls. It was on us tonight – our toughness for 40 minutes.”

On not meeting the team’s standard&nbsp;

“Like Brice (Williams) said, details. We harp on certain things all week, we always have certain key points we always touch on. We knew they were going to play hard. We knew they were a hard-playing team, but at the end of the day like Brice said, it comes to crunch time. We got (Desmond) Claude to miss the shot, and they came in with a rebound and got fouled or a tip dunk, that just can’t happen. I think these last three games, we’ve lost by three or less. It’s tough that we’re on this losing streak right now. In my eyes, we’re one of the better teams in the Big Ten but as of right now it’s not showing.&nbsp; We’re slacking up on certain things, but at the end of the day, it’s business. This is a game we all sign up for, so we’ve got to figure it out. We’ve got to come together within the group, we can’t separate. We’ve got to make sure that we go into the next day of practice and harp on what we need to figure out.”

“Since I got this job, I have been trying to ask ‘Where's the hardest to play on the road?’ This is certainly one of the first programs that comes up. We felt like for us, we couldn't turn the ball over, we couldn't give up threes. Obviously, our ball club is not the biggest team, but I thought we did a really good job on the boards. It was one of our highest games all year of offensive rebounding and scrapping out loose balls. We took pretty good care of the ball against the team that really loads up on the strong side defensively. We found some matchups that we liked with Rashaun (Agee) as a pick-and-pop five. When you look at the stats, you don't think he's a three-point shooter, but we see everything in practice. That's something that we just can't we can’t afford him to pass up threes because he is a good three-point shooter. But Nebraska plays really hard, very well coached. For whatever reason, we've been really good on the road. I think we're three and one on the road, and we have not been very good at home. Otherwise, we'd be in an unbelievable position for March if we had done what we're supposed to do at home. But we haven't done that in the opposing crowds, even in the game here, we lost in Indiana. We led for most of the game. I think we've led for 75% going into tonight's game, 75% of the available minutes of Big 10 play.”

North Platte, Neb.– A 22-point second quarter helps North Platte take down Southeast Community College, 65-50, to open Region IX play on Tuesday night.

Zaily Mazarin capped off a perfect shooting night by going 5-of-5 from the field, while tallying 12 points and two blocks. Madison Cheleen matched her teammate with 12 points by connecting on 4-of-11 from long range.

"It was a great team win tonight,” said head coach Jeff Thurman. “I am proud of our defensive effort and attention to detail tonight.”

North Platte jumped out to a 12-6 lead on a layup by EmmaJo Locks, but Southeast surged back with a 7-1 run over the final 3:14 to tie the game up at 13-13 headed into the second quarter.

Southeast continued their run into the second quarter as they extended their lead to 21-15 with 7:42 to play. North Platte answered by holding the Bobcats scoreless over the next 4:17, while mounting a 16-0 run to take a 31-21 lead on a three by Nariah Golden.

Southeast cut the margin to four inside the final minute, but back-to-back steals from Nariah Golden helped ignite a 4-0 run to extend the margin to 35-27 headed into halftime.

North Platte held Southeast to three points in the opening 7:21 of the third quarter, while stretching their lead to 44-30. Knights continued to maintain a double digit lead the rest of the way to earn the Region IX win.

Knights (11-10) return to Region IX action on Saturday against Central Community College. Tip is set for 2 p.m. inside the Raider Field House in Columbus

Knights Earn Big Win Against Rival Bobcats at Home

North Platte, Neb. – A 50-point second half helped North Platte secure the win over the Bobcats of Southeast Community College on Tuesday night, 88-75.

Trey Summers led the Knights with a team-high 21 points and seven assists, while Mo Diao earned his sixth double-double of the season by finishing the game with 20 points and 10 rebounds.

"Southeast made some big runs late in the first half, but our guys responded well,” said head coach Jacob Brandl. "I’m super proud with our efforts on the glass tonight.”

The opening moments of the first half featured a back-and-forth battle until the Bobcats offense triggered a 7-0 run. North Platte did not back down as a bucket from Diao ignited a 15-0 rally that pushed the Knights out front. Southeast fought back in the closing minutes to cut the margin to 38-36 headed into the halftime break.

The Bobcats opened the second half with back-to-back buckets to briefly take the lead on a lay in by Chang Deng. The deficit grew to five over the next five minutes, until three-point play from Summers sparked a North Platte 14-0 run.&nbsp;

Knights recorded another run late in the second half to anchor their win, despite Southeast attempting to rally in the closing minutes.

North Platte (12-6) returns to the hardwood on Friday against Lamar Community College. Tip is set for 8 p.m. in Lamar, Colo.

Kearney, Neb. – Nebraska Kearney head football coach Ryan Held announced today that Ruzell McCoy is the Lopers new linebacker's coach and recruiting coordinator.

He replaces Jesse Ornelas who recently left to become defensive coordinator at NAIA Central Methodist University (Lafayette, Mo.). Ornelas had been with the Lopers the past two years.&nbsp; ​

McCoy spent the 2024 season as defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach at NAIA Madonna University (Livonia, Mich.). The Crusaders first full football season came just four years ago.

"I'm very excited to have Ruzell McCoy join our staff. I've known Coach McCoy for many years and all the way back to when I recruited him in 2004," said Held. "He has a wide range of experiences from being a head coach, coordinator and position coach.”

An All-American linebacker in his playing days at Division II Southwestern Oklahoma State (Weatherford, Okla.), McCoy has also coached at his alma mater (2019-23), Ellsworth C.C., Iowa (spring 2019), NAIA McPherson College, Kan., Coffeyville C.C., Kan. (2016-17) and Highland C.C., Kan. (2012-13). Held was at coach of the Highland Scotties during the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

McCoy served as DC at SWOSU, Ellsworth, McPherson, Coffeyville and Highlands while also working as a defensive line coach (Highland &amp; SWOSU) and linebackers coach (Ellsworth, Coffeyville &amp; Highland). Finally, he was interim head coach at SWOSU during the 2023 season.

"He'll be a great addition to our staff and will help us continue in our quest to build a consistent winning football program," said Held. "We're fired up to have Coach McCoy and his family join our Loper family."

Between 2005-08, the Frederick, Okla., native racked up 238 tackles for the Bulldogs. The total included 44.5 tackles for loss, third most in SWOSU's Division II era. A two-time first-team All-Lone Star Conference (LSC) selection, he also was tabbed the 2008 North Division's Linebacker of the Year. Finally, McCoy was a 2008 first-team Don Hansen Gazette's All-American and SWOSU's Male Athlete of the Year.

He holds two degrees from SWOSU, a bachelor's in Parks &amp; Recreation and a master's in Sports Management. McCoy and his wife, Sara, have three children in Kynna, Trey and Zella.&nbsp;

UNK is currently going through winter conditioning with spring ball slated to begin on Tuesday, March 25.&nbsp;

UNK Football add Veteran Defensive Coach

Lincoln&nbsp;- Nebraska's Britt Prince captured the first Big Ten Freshman-of-the-Week award of her career, sharing the honor with Ohio State's Jaloni Cambridge when the conference announced its weekly recognition on Monday, Jan. 20.

Prince, a 5-11 point guard from Omaha, Neb., led the Huskers with a game-high 22 points on a career-high five three-pointers in an 87-84 overtime win at Iowa on Thursday night. The Elkhorn North High School grad added a career-high six steals to go along with seven rebounds and five assists in a tremendous all-around effort to help the Big Red to its first road win in Iowa City since 2018.

Prince's step-back three-pointer with 50 seconds left in regulation tied the game at 75, before her two free throws with 2.8 seconds left in front of 15,000 hostile Hawkeye fans sent the game to overtime.&nbsp;

Prince has been a catalyst in Nebraska's four-game Big Ten winning streak heading into tonight's home game with Wisconsin at Pinnacle Bank Arena. During the streak, Prince is averaging 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.0 steals to increase her season averages to 13.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and team bests 3.2 assists and 1.9 steals.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Prince named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

Lincoln&nbsp;- Kendall Moriarty came off the bench for a career-high 17 points while Jessica Petrie added a career high of her own with 15 points to lead five Huskers in double figures as Nebraska rolled to a 91-60 women's basketball win over Wisconsin on Monday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

The Huskers, who extended their Big Ten-best home winning streak to 15 games, stretched their overall winning streak to five with their most lopsided conference win of the season. Nebraska improved to 15-4 overall and 6-2 in the Big Ten with its road losses coming in back-to-back games at No. 1 UCLA and No. 4 USC during the holiday break.

Petrie, a 6-2 power forward from Gold Coast, Australia, sank a career-best 3-for-4 threes, while Moriarty tied her career high with 3-for-4 three-point shooting of her own, as the Huskers tied a Pinnacle Bank Arena record with 16 threes on 32 attempts.

Petrie added seven rebounds and a career-best three assists, while Moriarty pitched in four rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal in her best all-around effort of the season.

Big Ten Freshman of the Week added 14 points, seven rebounds and two assists while adding a pair of threes, while Alexis Markowski contributed 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists of her own.&nbsp; Markowski, a 6-3 center from Lincoln, pushed her career rebounding total to 1,112 on the night, surpassing All-American Jordan Hooper (1,110, 2011-14) to become the No. 3 rebounder in Nebraska history.

Freshman Petra Bozan rounded out the five Huskers in double figures with 10 points, as Nebraska put its sixth different group of five Huskers in double-digit scoring this season.

Callin Hake added nine points on 3-of-4 three-point shooting to go with five assists and three steals in another outstanding effort for the Big Red, while senior guard&nbsp;Alberte Rimdal pitched in a career-high eight assists.&nbsp;

The Huskers shot 54.2 percent (32-59) from the field, including 16-of-32 threes (.500), while connecting on 11-of-12 free throws (.917). Nebraska dished out 27 assists on 32 made baskets in an unselfish performance that included a 35-5 edge in bench points for the Big Red.

Nebraska held Wisconsin to 37.9 percent (25-66) shooting from the floor, including 3-of-17 threes (.176). The Huskers outworked the Badgers on the glass, 38-33, and matched UW with 15 turnovers.

Serah Williams led all scorers with 20 points to go along with a game-high eight rebounds, and Carter McCray added 14 points and six rebounds inside for the Badgers. Point guard Ronnie Porter was the only other player in double figures with 11 points, six rebounds and five assists.

Nebraska led 18-14 after one quarter, before pushing the lead to 42-26 behind huge second quarters from Prince and Petrie. Prince scored NU's first seven points of the quarter and assisted on a Markowski basket to turn a game tied at 18 to a 27-19 Husker lead with 6:16 left in the half to force a Wisconsin timeout.&nbsp;

Prince hit two free throws to start a 10-0 Nebraska run over three minutes with Porter off the floor because of foul trouble. Petra Bozan buried a three-pointer to extend a 15-0 overall run for the Big Red to take a 36-19 lead with 3:49 left in the half.

Petrie, who scored seven in the quarter, and Prince, who finished with 10 in the period, then drained back-to-back threes to give the Big Red its biggest lead of the half at 42-23.

Tess Myers answered with Wisconsin's first three-pointer of the half at the buzzer, as the Badgers went 1-for-12 from long range, while Nebraska hit 7-of-15 triples with five different Huskers hitting at least one three.

Nebraska hit 15-of-29 shots (.517) in the half and 5-of-6 free throws, while outworking UW on the glass, 22-15. The Huskers held Wisconsin to 12-of-34 shooting (.353) and 1-of-2 free throws. The Badgers did win the first-half turnover battle, 6-5.

The Huskers continue their two-game home stand by playing host to No. 12 Ohio State on Sunday. LINCOLN — Three similar legislative proposals introduced Wednesday seek to help implement the voter-enacted legalization and regulation of medical cannabis in Nebraska by later this year.

The legislation, introduced by State Sens. Danielle Conrad of Lincoln, Ben Hansen of Blair and Terrell McKinney of Omaha, would create registry programs and further stipulate the licensing and regulatory duties of the new Nebraska Medical Cannabis Commission.&nbsp;
