North Platte, Neb. -&nbsp;At approximately 10:13 AM, police officers responded to a report of a shooting at 1016 N. Walnut.&nbsp; During the initial response, a second caller reported that a vehicle ran into a parked car in the 300 block of E. 10th St. and the driver was slumped over the steering wheel.

Upon arrival at 1016 N. Walnut, responding officers learned that a 36-year-old male had been shot and left the residence prior to police arrival to seek medical treatment.&nbsp; The victim lost consciousness and was determined to be the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident reported in the 300 block of E. 10th St.&nbsp; The victim was taken to Great Plains Health by ambulance.&nbsp; The suspect had fled the scene of the shooting prior to police arrival, and officers disseminated a description of the suspect and the vehicle he was driving to all law enforcement agencies serving our area.

The suspect was contacted in the parking lot of 705 N. Jeffers St. along with his girlfriend and 18-month-old daughter.&nbsp; The suspect’s vehicle was parked in the parking lot.&nbsp; &nbsp; Both adults were detained, and the child was taken into protective custody.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The suspect’s girlfriend is related to one of the residents living at 1016 N. Walnut.&nbsp; She arrived in town, within the last couple weeks, with her boyfriend, Daveantae Booker. On Saturday morning, an argument broke out between the visiting couple and the victim who lives at 1016 N. Walnut.&nbsp; The argument escalated into a physical confrontation between the victimcand suspect.&nbsp; After the physical altercation ended, 23-year-old Daveantea Booker retrieved what is believed to be a 9mm pistol and shot the victim in the chest.

Daveantae Booker, of Evansville, IN, has been arrested for First Degree Assault (Class II Felony) and Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony (Class IC Felony).&nbsp; He was incarcerated at the Lincoln County Detention Center.

The victim has life threatening injuries and will be transported to another medical facility for a higher level of care.

This information is being released at an early stage in the investigation.&nbsp; Search warrants are being sought for the residence at 1016 N. Walnut and the suspect’s vehicle.&nbsp; Police will be on scene throughout the day as searches are conducted and interviews continue.&nbsp;&nbsp;

NORTH PLATTE, NEB.–– The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Center for Agricultural&nbsp; Profitability and Nebraska Extension will present a workshop in North Platte for farm and ranch&nbsp; landowners, landlords and tenants who want to learn more about current trends in farm or ranch&nbsp; real estate, and best practices for managing or leasing land.&nbsp;

“Big Questions and Innovative Solutions in Land Management” will be held from 1 to 4 p.m.,&nbsp; Nov. 18, at the West Central Research, Extension and Education Center, 402 W. State Farm&nbsp; Road.&nbsp;

The workshop will cover topics related to Nebraska's land industry for farms and ranches. Those&nbsp; include evaluating current trends in land values and cash rents, lease provisions and legal&nbsp; considerations, proper communication strategies and considerations for successful land&nbsp; transitions. Workshop participants will also be able to find answers to common farmland leasing&nbsp; and land ownership questions.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The program is free to attend. Pre-registration is requested by Nov. 15, by calling Nebraska&nbsp; Extension in Lincoln County at 308-532-2683.&nbsp;

The North Platte Community College Applied Technologies Division donated a piece of diagnostic equipment to enhance North Platte High School’s automotive program.

NPCC automotive instructors Bryan Herrick and Mike Janecek handed off the Snap-on VERUS® PRO Diagnostic and Information System to their former student and current NPHS teacher Johnny Zogg last week.

“He was one of my best students,” Janecek said of Zogg.

The MPCC alum invited his past instructors to the high school upon recent renewal of their program to assess the equipment after he took the job as NPHS automotive teacher.

“Last year was my first year,” Zogg said. “We had very little Snap-on when I started, which is industry standard and top of the line.”

NPCC keeps their equipment updated to above industry standards, so their students have an advantage when they enter the professional field. Having recently updated their supply they had an extra diagnostic tool on hand, which NPHS was lacking.

“We try to find where the need is,” Janecek said.&nbsp; “We thought we would pass it along to them,” Janecek said.

Zogg said his students at the high school will benefit greatly from the donation.

“Our current scan tool only goes up to 2010 and only likes to scan up to 2008 vehicles,” Zogg said. “We are expected to work on things well newer than that. Getting this allows the kids to learn future technology to get them prepared for the college world.”

North Platte Community College will be the site of an Applied Technologies Job Fair Nov. 13.

The event is free and open to the public. It is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon in Rooms 105, 107 and 109 of the W.W. Wood Building on the NPCC North Campus, 1101 Halligan Drive, in North Platte.

The fair will provide job seekers with an opportunity to network with representatives from area businesses and learn about open positions in a variety of applied technology-related fields.

An emphasis will be put on electrical, building construction, welding, HVAC, automotive, auto body, diesel and CDL.

Guests are encouraged to take résumés with them. At their discretion, employers may choose to interview candidates on site.

The day has finally come, it's election day in America at the presidential, federal, state and local level. The polls are open until 8:00pm tonight and just a reminder to bring your photo ID with you to vote.&nbsp;

Starting this evening, the POST will have coverage with updates on how the presidential, federal, state and local government results are going. Also starting this evening around 8:00pm (CT)/7:00pm (MT), the POST will have live updates on all radio stations throughout the evening and into the night with the latest updates on how election results are going at all levels. Those updates will occur at the top of each hour.&nbsp;
