James (Jim) Harold Langford, 74, of Grand Island, originally of North Platte, died peacefully Monday, July 4, 2022, surrounded by his family at the Nebraska Medicine Buffett Cancer Center in Omaha.&nbsp; Jim was born in North Platte, NE to Ray and Jeanne Langford on January 17, 1948. Jim graduated in the North Platte High School Class of 1966.&nbsp; He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.&nbsp; After college, he served as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service until his employment at Union Pacific in 1976.&nbsp; Jim was a conductor at UP until his retirement in 2008. Jim married Peggy Barraclough of North Platte on December 29, 1968. To this union three children were born: Jason, Travis, and Jacque. Peggy passed away after 44 years of marriage. To fill the void, Jim adopted a chiweenie named Lucy. Lucy and Jim were inseparable. In 2019, Jim met Mary Hanson whom he married in June of 2020. With this union he gained another special furry friend named Abby. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Grand Island to be closer to family. They spent their days in their backyard watching birds and squirrels with their puppies Lucy and Abby, enjoying wonderful conversation during their daily wine hour. Jim was most at home in the mountains with a fly rod in his hand chasing trout. He was a master fly tyer. Jim also enjoyed bird hunting over a good dog. His sons have many fond memories of hunting the refuge at Medicine Creek Reservoir and fly fishing at the Snake River. He spent countless hours in the outdoors hunting and fishing with his closest friends and family, leaving them with a lifetime of memories. He loved to cook for his family and took pride in his garden. He was an avid reader and very intelligent, encouraging his children to pursue their education. After retirement, he enjoyed Thursday morning coffee with his friends and playing pool in his garage. He was the second kindest soul to walk this earth.

He is proceeded in death by his wife Peggy, parents Jeanne &amp; Ray Langford, sister Linda Harrach, and nephew Randy Harrach. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 10th&nbsp;from 12:00 p.m. noon to 6:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte, NE. A celebration of life follows the visitation at 6:00 p.m. &nbsp;A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in North Platte on Monday, July 11th&nbsp;at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Vidya Sagar Arikotla as celebrant.&nbsp; Interment will follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens.

Steven Dwayne Nelson, 64 of Kearney passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022 at his home in Kearney.

Steve was born November 20, 1957 in Broken Bow, Nebraska to Murland Dwayne “Swede” and Betty R. (Simonton) Nelson. Steve graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1976. After graduation he lived in Kearney where he was employed by Stanel Sound, did construction work and worked at the Viaero Center in Kearney before health problems forced him to retire. Steve enjoyed playing the drums and was a member of the Side Street Boys for many years. He also enjoyed riding his Harley and always had a dog companion by his side.

Steve is survived by his mother, Betty Nelson of Lexington, one sister, Mickie and husband Jim Kircher of Littleton, CO. one niece, Jennifer (Blake) Michelson, one nephew, James (Melissa) Kircher and their children, Bowen and Lawson and his faithful dog, AnnaLew. He was preceded in death by his father, “Swede” Nelson, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Reverend Eddie Mariel, officiating. Alvina Maxine Lovitt, “Grandma Maxine,” 100, of Stapleton, was a firecracker in life and went out with a bang on the Fourth of July, 2022, at her home.&nbsp; She was born on October 12, 1921 to Fred and Ethel (Robinson) Linderman of Stapleton.&nbsp;

Maxine was born and raised in the Stapleton area and always lived within a 10-mile radius of the town, except when her late husband, Lloyd, was in the service.&nbsp; After graduating from Baker Rural High School (Stapleton High School) in 1939, Maxine taught school when she was only 17, teaching some students that were older than she.&nbsp; Maxine and Lloyd were married on January 24th, 1942. When Lloyd was discharged from the service in 1945, they began ranching in partnership with Dr. E.F. Carr until beginning their own ranch operation at the home they built near Stapleton.&nbsp;&nbsp; Besides helping and working on the family ranch, Maxine was extremely involved in all of her family’s lives as well as in the community. Just to list a few, she was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Banner Mothers, Bible Studies, Cornerstone Women’s Church Group, Farm Bureau, Senior Citizen’s Friendship Club, Pitch Club, and was a volunteer Grandma for the First-Grade class at Stapleton School.&nbsp; She traveled a bit as well, visiting Hawaii, Alaska and both coasts.&nbsp; Maxine helped build, and was the primary owner of the Stapleton grocery store, Mainstreet Market and Deli. At age 94, she was still working there faithfully, open to close every single day unless she was gone somewhere.&nbsp; She loved that store and all the people who came through its doors.&nbsp; Maxine was a loving, compassionate, funny, and all-around amazing woman.&nbsp; Most of all, she was strong. Her earthly vessel carried her 100 full years through many hardships and countless joys. Like a firework, her colors burst all around her. Now she has been carried home by her Lord.

Geraldine Mae Halliwill Turnipseed was born February 9, 1933, at Cliff Table west of Merna, NE to Everett and Lillie (Klinkman) Halliwill. Geraldine grew up on Cliff Table. She enjoyed horseback riding with friends. Geraldine graduated from Merna High School. Upon graduating she went to Kearney College and earned her teaching certificate. She taught school for two years at a country school. Geraldine married Charles Turnipseed on June 14, 1953, at the Callaway Methodist Church. After Charles got out of the USAF, they settled in the Ortello Valley area farming and raising their family. Charles and Geraldine moved to Merna in 1977, after raising five children. Geraldine then went to work at Sandhills Manor for many years until retiring in 1995.

Geraldine was an avid gardener, bird watcher, enjoyed sewing, and her flowers (especially Lilacs, Peonies, &amp; Phlox). But most of all, she enjoyed being with her family. She had a great sense of humor with some practical jokes mixed in.

Geraldine is survived by her husband Charles Turnipseed of Merna, children: Carlene Orman of Vancouver, WA, Linda Turnipseed of Ravenna, Dena (Roger) Blakeman of Broken Bow, Diana (Tom) Henry of North Platte, Wes Turnipseed of Ord, grandson Jason Blakeman of Broken Bow, and a brother Edwin Halliwill of Broken Bow.

Geraldine Turnipseed (1933-2022)

James was born June 20, 1928, on a ranch east of Oconto, Nebraska to Daniel &amp; Hazel (Whipple) Mayo. James graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1946 and then joined the US Navy. James graduated from the Naval Training Station in San Diego, California and was assigned to the USS Cacapon, a Navy oil supply ship. He sailed to the South Pacific and to the Antarctic in the Admiral Byrd Expedition for three months. After a fuel supply to Athens, Greece he returned home to Broken Bow, Nebraska. On April 17, 1948, Audrey Hickenbottom became his wife.

The Lord was good and gave them the privilege of raising four children: Randal, Thomas, Edwin, Anita Mayo and a grandchild Amanda Mayo. Surviving family include Thomas (Bonnie), Edwin (Carmen), Anita (Les Bird), Amanda (David Chin), nine grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren.

James transferred to the Ammunition Depot in Hastings where he finished his time in the U.S. Navy. James and Audrey moved back to Broken Bow, Nebraska and he earned a master certificate in mechanics, which was his vocation for 33 years, twelve years of which was running his own business.&nbsp; James spent several years, part time, as Custer County jailor, and for 27 years he was a federal crop insurance adjuster.

Audrey and James moved to Lincoln, Nebraska in 2002. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, DAV and Masonic Lodge in Broken Bow, and served 40 years in the Broken Bow Lions Club.

James and Audrey lost their oldest son Randal on October 5, 2005. James was preceded in death, also, by his mother &amp; father - Daniel &amp; Hazel Mayo, Audrey’s parents - Fred &amp; Ethel Hickenbottom, all of his brothers - Howard Allen, Frank, Robert, and Daniel Jr., and Audrey’s sister &amp; brother-in-law Loraine &amp; Maynard Cornish.

 </figure>James was born June 20, 1928, on a ranch east of Oconto, Nebraska to Daniel &amp; Hazel (Whipple) Mayo. James graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1946 and then joined the US Navy. James graduated from the Naval Training Station in San Diego, California and was assigned to the USS Cacapon, a Navy oil supply ship. He sailed to the South Pacific and to the Antarctic in the Admiral Byrd Expedition for three months. After a fuel supply to Athens, Greece he returned home to Broken Bow, Nebraska. On April 17, 1948, Audrey Hickenbottom became his wife.The Lord was good and gave them the privilege of raising four children: Randal, Thomas, Edwin, Anita Mayo and a grandchild Amanda Mayo. Surviving family include Thomas (Bonnie), Edwin (Carmen), Anita (Les Bird), Amanda (David Chin), nine grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren.James transferred to the Ammunition Depot in Hastings where he finished his time in the U.S. Navy. James and Audrey moved back to Broken Bow, Nebraska and he earned a master certificate in mechanics, which was his vocation for 33 years, twelve years of which was running his own business.&nbsp; James spent several years, part time, as Custer County jailor, and for 27 years he was a federal crop insurance adjuster.Audrey and James moved to Lincoln, Nebraska in 2002. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, DAV and Masonic Lodge in Broken Bow, and served 40 years in the Broken Bow Lions Club.James and Audrey lost their oldest son Randal on October 5, 2005. James Mayo (1928-2022)

Eileen (Bartruff) Geiger, age 98, a resident of Cozad, Nebraska, for most of her life, passed away on July 8, 2021, while pedaling the halls of Westhaven Community in Boone, Iowa. Due to the unpredictable and rapid increase of Covid-19 caused by the delta variant in 2021, her Celebration of Life service was postponed until 2022 and will now be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Cozad United Methodist Church in Cozad, NE.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Eileen was born on her parents' farm in rural Eustis, Nebraska, on New Year's Day of 1923, a few minutes after her twin sister, Estaleen. She was the seventh child born to Gottlob Wilhelm and Engel Caroline Philippine (Koester) Bartruff.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Eileen attended school in Eustis and graduated from Eustis High School as the salutatorian of the Class of 1940. She felt a bond to her classmates and kept in contact with many of them her entire life. Eileen attended college at the University of Nebraska and taught school for six years in rural schools in the Eustis area. She thoroughly enjoyed teaching children.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; On February 16, 1947, Eileen was united in marriage to Frederick Herman Geiger at the Methodist Church in Eustis, Nebraska. The couple then spent nearly seven decades on their farm east of Cozad where they raised their three children.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Eileen loved crafts of all kinds, especially sewing, crocheting, and quilting, and made two quilts for each of her grandchildren and numerous crocheted Christmas ornaments for them. She was proud of her Christmas tree decorated with nearly a hundred ornaments she had crocheted and was honored to have her tree on display at the Henri Museum. Eileen filled her yard with a huge variety of flowers and also adorned her home with houseplants. She was an avid vegetable gardener, too, raising much of the food she served her family. She spent hours and hours annually canning and freezing the produce from the huge garden she and Fred tended and she delighted in sharing the bounty with friends and family. She also enjoyed entering her flowers, produce, and needlework at the county fair every year and was proud of all the ribbons she won, especially her Best of Show rosettes. After the State Fair moved to Grand Island in 2010, Eileen entered her crafts there and delighted in all the blue ribbons she won.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; A special highlight of Eileen's year came in the fall when hundreds of school children, church members, relatives, neighbors, and friends came to the Geiger pumpkin patch to select pumpkins, gourds, squash, and corn, all free of charge. Every fall she and Fred loaded their car with autumn's bounty and delivered the pumpkins and gourds to their Nebraska grandkids' schools for the grandkids to share with teachers and classmates. She and Fred were so disappointed when health issues forced them to discontinue the pumpkin patch.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Eileen was also an excellent baker and treated her family to pie and sweet rolls weekly. Her dinner rolls melted in your mouth. She baked over 20 varieties of Christmas cookies every year, along with krapfen and pretzels, and also baked and decorated angel food cake for every family member’s birthday.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The United Methodist Church was a very important part of Eileen's life. She was a dedicated member for over 86 years, held numerous offices in United Methodist Women and in several church circles, played in the bell choir, served on the funeral committee for years, frequently worked in the Thrift Store, and spent several years making banners for the sanctuary and lap quilts and Christmas cookie trays for the elderly. She also taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. Eileen was a member of the S.O.M. Extension Club most of her adult life, served as a 4-H leader for many years, was a member of a craft club for several years, and also enjoyed the many years she and Fred spent as members of a neighborhood pinochle club. A highlight of every fall was Husker football. She enjoyed attending games and never spent a football Saturday not wearing red, even when she wasn't at a game or wasn’t even in Nebraska. But more than anything, Eileen delighted in her grandchildren and great grandchildren and glowed in their accomplishments.

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; For over 14 years, Eileen was a tireless caregiver to Fred following his stroke, enabling the couple to remain in their home all that time.

Eileen is survived by son, Dr. Randall (Marlene) Geiger of Ames, IA; daughters, Judi (Jim) Harper of Grand Island and Jane (Michael) Cohen of Morgan Hill, CA; grandchildren, Robin (Scott) Litchfield of Ankeny, IA; David (Anna) Geiger of Raleigh, NC; Jodi Harper of Mission, KS; Jason (Megan) Harper of Tucson, AZ; Jami Harper of Phoenix, AZ; and Kristin (Todd) Geiger-Thorson of Leland, IA; great grandchildren, Rylee Litchfield, Garrett Litchfield, Kira Geiger, Elliott Geiger, and Matthew Harper; and sister-in-law, Valerie Geiger of Cozad. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She was preceded in death by her husband in January of 2020; granddaughter, Jill Harper; parents; brothers, Dale (Katherine) Bartruff, Raymond (Edna) Bartruff, Walter Bartruff, and Leo (Phoebe) Bartruff; sisters, Leona Bartruff and Estaleen (Oscar) Weissert; and brothers-in-law, Carl Geiger, Ralph (Elaine) Geiger, and William Geiger.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Eileen’s burial took place in a private family service at Cozad Cemetery in July of 2021.

Harlan Dean Ottemann, “HO”, 73, of Johnson Lake, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at Bryan Medical Center – East Campus, after a short but courageous battle with esophageal cancer.

Harlan was born on April 10, 1949, in Humboldt, Nebraska to Arnold and Laura (Volker) Ottemann. He received his education from Johnson High School and graduated with the class of 1967. He then did one year of tech school in Omaha for Auto Mechanics.

On August 25, 1969, Harlan was inducted into the United States Army where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on February 28, 1972.

Following his discharge, Harlan was united in marriage to Virginia Bohlken in April of 1973 in Montpelier, Idaho.&nbsp; Three children were blessed to this union: Amy, Renae and Kurt. The family made their home in Idaho a few years where Harlan was employed with Commonwealth Electric, putting up powerlines in Idaho and Wyoming. They moved back to their family roots in Johnson, Nebraska.&nbsp; He worked for several employers throughout the years in the Johnson area. Their marriage would later end in divorce.

Harlan moved to Kearney, Nebraska, in the late 1980’s where he would find love again, and was united in marriage to Deb Hicks (Keller) on September 18, 1993, in Kearney. Deb’s two sons would join the family, Brian and Aaron. Harlan worked for Loomis Pig Company until 2009 when he semi-retired and Harlan and Deb moved to Johnson Lake. While living at Johnson Lake, Harlan stayed busy working construction for Dan Wilkens. He later worked summers for the Nebraska Game and Parks and pulled a grain cart for the Anderson Brothers.

Harlan was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially taking them on boat rides and playing cards.&nbsp; He also enjoyed traveling and card playing with friends and family members. He was also known for brewing his own beer and making wine.&nbsp;

Harlan will be remembered for his big heart and kindness to people.&nbsp; He was always busy learning new things and enjoyed visiting with people. He was very giving and would help others in any way he could.

Harlan was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W., as well as Parents without Partners, where he met, Deb, and is a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Lexington.

Harlan is survived by his wife, Deb of Johnson Lake; children, Amy (Todd) DeBuse of Lincoln, Renae (Andy) Ernesti of Columbus, Kurt (Leslie) Ottemann of Lincoln, Brian (Jennifer) Keller of Kearney and Aaron (Molly) Keller of Omaha; sixteen grandchildren, Erika, Kyra, Cassie, Cevahn, Easton, Carter, Blake, Finn, Ava, Kendall, Leo, Ellie, Kylie, Logan, Quinten and Emma; one brother, Dale (Pam) Ottemann of Johnson; four sisters, Pauline (Gary) Zoucha of Lincoln, Darlene (Lavon) Beethe of Elk Creek, Martha (Gary) Arnknecht of Russellville, Arkansas and Pam (Steve) Mitchell of Burchard; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Harlan was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Leroy and two grandsons, Kadan DeBuse and Nicholas Rathbone.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 10, 2022 from 2-4 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.

Following the visitation, cremation will take place and A Celebration Of Life Service will be on Monday July 11, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastor John Strackbein, officiating. Harlan Dean Ottemann (1949-2022)

&nbsp; Robert "Bob" H. Koester, 90, of Ogallala, passed away July 2, 2022, in Grand Island. Bob was born January 18, 1932, at Sidney, Nebraska, to Henry and Rose (Salber) Koester. Bob was raised on a farm 10 miles east of Peetz, Colorado, and attended country school before graduating from Saint Patrick's High School at Sydney with the class of 1950. Bob entered the US Navy in November of 1951, where he served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1953. On February 21, 1956, Bob married Bonnie J. Rice. Their union was blessed with two children. The couple lived in Sidney, where Bob worked for BS&amp;B Oil Company. He eventually went to work for the Soil Conservation Service in 1970. His work took him to Oshkosh a few years later, where he bought into a construction company specializing in land leveling, dams, and terracing. In 1995, Bob downshifted to a more relaxed pace of life, finally retiring in 2004, when he and Bonnie moved to Ogallala. Never one for idleness, Bob would help the Svoboda's part-time at the car wash. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, three brothers, and a grandson, Drake. Survivors include his wife Bonnie of Ogallala; children, Cindy Koester Fremont, Greg Koester (Josie) of Gibbon; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles and Ed; a sister Geraldine; along with many nieces and nephews. Bob entered the US Navy in November of 1951, where he served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1953. On February 21, 1956, Bob married Bonnie J. Rice. Their union was blessed with two children. The couple lived in Sidney, where Bob worked for BS&amp;B Oil Company. He eventually went to work for the Soil Conservation Service in 1970. His work took him to Oshkosh a few years later, where he bought into a construction company specializing in land leveling, dams, and terracing. In 1995, Bob downshifted to a more relaxed pace of life, finally retiring in 2004, when he and Bonnie moved to Ogallala. Never one for idleness, Bob would help the Svoboda's part-time at the car wash. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, three brothers, and a grandson, Drake. Survivors include his wife Bonnie of Ogallala; children, Cindy Koester Fremont, Greg Koester (Josie) of Gibbon; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles and Ed; a sister Geraldine; along with many nieces and nephews. PATRICIA ANN DARNELL, 87, of Ogallala, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday morning, June 22, 2022. On January 31, 1955, Patricia married Robert J. Darnell at the United Methodist Church in Ogallala. They had two children, William (Bill) and Hallie. Pat was a Boy Scout den mother and a brownie scout leader for several years and enjoyed instrumental music. Her family remembers fondly her homemade chocolate sheet cake. Everyone would ask her so that she would bring one to every family holiday meal or birthday party. Patricia Ann Darnell was the person who wanted the best for other people and enjoyed helping them whenever she could. As the ultimate worrier for her entire family, Pat's constant concern for their welfare and their success showed the extreme love and dedication that she felt for her children, her husband, and her extended family. Dorsey Andrew “Andy” Collins, 87, of North Platte, NE passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Great Plains Health Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on September 29, 1934 in Hope, Arkansas, the son of Dorsey and Lillie (Gaines) Collins. Andy grew up in Hope, Arkansas and graduated from Hope High School and attended two years at Magnolia State College.&nbsp; He entered the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War from 1953 to 1957. Andy was stationed in North Platte where he met and married his bride of 66 years, Barbara Ann Kuhlmann on June 3, 1956 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in North Platte. &nbsp;Through their union they were blessed with four children.&nbsp; &nbsp;Andy worked as a salesman for most of his career, retiring with Barb to Horseshoe Bay, Texas where they enjoyed golf, and entertaining family and friends. They returned home to North Platte in 2014.

An all-around athlete, he enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting. Andy shared his love of sports with his family and friends. If he wasn’t coaching or playing he was watching.

Those left to cherish Andy’s memory are his wife, Barbara; daughters, Candi (John) Burns of North Platte, Deb Collins (Ken Siemek) of Lincoln, and Merri Jo O’Dell (Tripp Rion) of Georgetown, SC; son, Michael (Kathy) Collins of Lincoln; grandchildren, Kassidy (Bryan) Mosher, Shay Burns and her partner Riley Jedrzejczyk, Dane Burns, Zachary Burns and his partner Sierra Perry, Tanner (Maradeth) O’Dell, Ryan O’Dell, Parker (Morgan) Siemek, Andrew and Aden Collins; great-grandchildren, Lilly Mosher, Macie and Jacie Salem, Hank Jedrzejczyk, Silas and Jones O’Dell; brother, Wayne Collins of Texarkana, TX; and several nieces and nephews. Alan G. Green was born on January 3, 1939 to Everett Green, Sr. and Fern (Ulrich) Green in Murdo, SD.&nbsp; He passed away on July 2, 2022 at the age of 83 in Winner, SD at Winner Regional Hospital.&nbsp; Alan grew up on the family ranch northwest of White River, with 3 brothers and 3 sisters.&nbsp; Marguerite, Everett Jr., Darlene, Gene, Bobby, and Jeanette.&nbsp; He was the second to the youngest in the family of 7. He was baptized at a young age in the United Methodist Church in White River and as an adult became a member of the church.&nbsp; Alan attended Cottonwood School through the 8th&nbsp;grade and then went on to graduate from White River High School in 1958.&nbsp; As a boy, he and his brothers roamed the family ranch.&nbsp; They spent their days hunting, fishing, swimming, and other shenanigans trying to avoid the chores that their dad insisted they do.&nbsp; Alan was a Boy Scout and later became a leader in the Boy Scouts with his brother-in-law Gary Cline.&nbsp; Alan married Sandy McKee on September 8, 1963 at the United Methodist Church in White River.&nbsp; To this union there were three children born:&nbsp; Bret Alan – September 22, 1964 (stillborn); William “Bill” – November 18, 1965; and Tess Leone – November 25, 1969.&nbsp;

After graduating high school, Alan worked on the family ranch for a time.&nbsp; He broke horses and worked on many area ranches as a hired hand in Mellette County.&nbsp; He owned a feed store at one time.&nbsp; He and Sandy also owned a hotel in White River for many years.&nbsp; In 1975, he began working for the South Dakota Department of Transportation as a Highway Maintenance Worker.&nbsp; He retired in 1999 after 24 years of service to the state.&nbsp; After retiring, he spent a few years driving a bus for the White River School District.&nbsp; He enjoyed seeing the kids and hearing their stories every day.&nbsp; He always had a tootsie roll for the little ones as they got off the bus at the end of the day. One of his hobbies was wiring the S &amp; S Stock Trailers that his dad sold to people in the area and he became quite the expert.&nbsp; He liked to tinker and fix things.&nbsp; Alan also liked being out in nature.&nbsp; He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping.&nbsp; Most weekends you could find him with his family camping at a local watering hole or traveling to the Black Hills to set up camp and sight see.&nbsp; He loved taking the unbeaten path and any back road that might lead to an adventure or exciting new place.&nbsp;

He always included his mother-in-law Emma McKee on many of those excursions, and she enjoyed each one of them.&nbsp; Alan embraced his McKee family and enjoyed spending time with Sandy’s family as much as his own.&nbsp; Alan also “helped” Santa Claus by sitting in for him during Santa visits at North Elementary School in Mission and many other locations in White River.&nbsp; He enjoyed that role a great deal.&nbsp;

After he fully retired, he babysat for a close family friend.&nbsp; Little Laura kept “Grumpa” in line most of the day until Nanny Sanny got home from work.&nbsp; Laura and Alan were true sidekicks.&nbsp; Grumpa didn’t make too many trips to the bank, the store or the post office without his little helper.&nbsp;

Over the years, Alan and Sandy took many trips with his youngest sister Jeanette and her husband Gary.&nbsp; Camping, fishing, family reunions and just sight-seeing were among the trips they took.&nbsp; They also spent weekends playing cards together.&nbsp; In 2017, Alan and Sandy left White River and moved to Valentine, NE due to health reasons.&nbsp; In December of 2021 Alan was moved to the long-term care facility at Winner.&nbsp; He lived a very full life and will be missed by so many.&nbsp;

Willard Hollopeter (age 87)

Robert L. “Bob” Cullinan, age 87, of North Platte, NE, died July 3, 2022 at Centennial Park Retirement Community. He was born on September 18, 1934 in Paxton, Ne to Harry Hubert and Florence Viola (Heldt) Cullinan.&nbsp;

Bob attended school in Paxton and entered the US Army in October 15, 1954.&nbsp; He served until 1957 and returned to Paxton.&nbsp; He met Louise Hoover and they were married on October 14, 1961. The couple lived in Ogallala, at the family ranch near Arthur, and south of Paxton until 1965 when they moved to Sarben, where they remained until 2018 when they moved to North Platte

Bob is survived by his children Mark (Gena) Cullinan of North Platte, Beth (Gordon) Morey of Fairbanks, AK, and Erin (Brian) Taylor of Snow Hill, MD; grandchildren Shane (Alyssa) Cullinan, Craig Cullinan, Kathleen (Colton) Craig, Ian (Aly) Morey, Madison Morey and Emmett Taylor; sibling, Honey Damman of McQueeney, TX; in-laws, Donna Hoover of North Platte, and Terry (Tami) Hoover of North Platte; as well as numerous other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by her parents; wife Louise; son Robb; and siblings, Dorothy M. Pueppke, Marvin Cullinan, Catherine “Mid” Hoffman, Mary Ann Glinn, and Joseph Cullinan.

He was born on September 18, 1934 in Paxton, Ne to Harry Hubert and Florence Viola (Heldt) Cullinan.&nbsp;Bob attended school in Paxton and entered the US Army in October 15, 1954.&nbsp; He served until 1957 and returned to Paxton.&nbsp; He met Louise Hoover and they were married on October 14, 1961. The couple lived in Ogallala, at the family ranch near Arthur, and south of Paxton until 1965 when they moved to Sarben, where they remained until 2018 when they moved to North PlatteBob is survived by his children Mark (Gena) Cullinan of North Platte, Beth (Gordon) Morey of Fairbanks, AK, and Erin (Brian) Taylor of Snow Hill, MD; grandchildren Shane (Alyssa) Cullinan, Craig Cullinan, Kathleen (Colton) Craig, Ian (Aly) Morey, Madison Morey and Emmett Taylor; sibling, Honey Damman of McQueeney, TX; in-laws, Donna Hoover of North Platte, and Terry (Tami) Hoover of North Platte; as well as numerous other family members and friends.He was preceded in death by her parents; wife Louise; son Robb; and siblings, Dorothy M. &nbsp; Chrystal Dawn Johnson of Hershey unexpectedly died July 2, 2022, at Great Plains Health.&nbsp; She was 55 years old. Chrystal, the daughter of Joseph and Kathleen Johnson, was born March 29, 1967, at Chadron.&nbsp; She grew up in Hershey where she graduated from high school in 1985 then attended Mid Plains Community College. Chrystal hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad and worked as a switchman but due to an injury while on the job she was unable to work for several years.&nbsp; In 2010 she moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa, eventually returning to Hershey 11 years later, and worked at Kelsey's Bar. Chrystal loved animals, flowers, being outside and she liked to fish.&nbsp; She especially loved spending time with her family and being with her sister's children, Colby, Olivia and Dalton. Chrystal was taken from us all too soon and will forever be missed and loved. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Johnson, and mother, Kathleen Johnson Miller. Chrystal Johnson (1967-2022)

Clyde “Keith” McCormick, 92, of North Platte, NE and formerly of Valentine, NE passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022 at Linden Court, surrounded by family.

He was born on July 21, 1929 in Sparks, NE, to Charles William and Melva Irene (Bingham) McCormick.

Keith graduated from Valentine High School and attended technical training school in Rapid City, SD.&nbsp; Following that, he attended pilot training in Winner, SD from 1947-1948 where he became the youngest private pilot in South Dakota and the youngest commercial pilot in Texas. He worked as a pilot for three years and during that time he built his own plane out of spare parts. He was married to Betty Foster and they were blessed with four children.&nbsp; He loved taking his children on daring rides in his airplane. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served from 1951-54 as a decoder during the Korean War.&nbsp; His unit was instrumental in breaking the code that helped end the Korean War.&nbsp;&nbsp; In later years, he met and married Marilyn Lou Jones.&nbsp; He co-owned and operated McCormick propane service in Valentine, NE along with his brother Chuck.&nbsp; Being a “jack-of-all-trades,” Keith worked at various jobs throughout his career including cable tv and electrical repairs. Keith volunteered his time as a transporter with the Valentine Hospital, transporting patients from the Pine Ridge Reservation and Cherry Hills Assisted Living to appointments.&nbsp; He was a great storyteller, enjoyed building model airplanes, and was a member of the VFW in Valentine.&nbsp; He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Melva; wife, Marilyn; daughter and son-in-law, Linda (Ron) Eggleston; and brother, Charles “Chuck” McCormick.

Those left to cherish Keith’s memory are daughter, Kathy (Tom) Gunderson of Phoenix, AZ; sons, Keith (Ronna) McCormick of Casper, WY and Michael (Shari) McCormick of Coppell, TX; brothers, Gene McCormick of Valentine and Melvin (Tracy) McCormick of Denver, CO; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 3 nephews and 1 niece.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Pastor Anne Durboraw officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow with military honors at Fort McPherson National Veterans Cemetery near Maxwell.&nbsp; Carpenter Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Donald E. Denesia was born in Wayne, Nebraska October 9, 1923, to Harry and Mary (Collins) Denesia. Don attended a one room country school until 8th&nbsp;grade and graduated from Wayne High School in 1941. He attended Sioux City Business College for one year before joining the Navy in 1944 through 1946. While on his Pacific tour of duty, he and Ray Brown met and decided to start a contracting business when World War II was over. This partnership began in 1947 and operated and built many buildings in over 30 states, mostly under the name of Nursing Builders Incorporated. The contracting business called for traveling and Don became an experienced instrument pilot. The company was Cash and Carry Lumber Co. in Broken Bow, owned and operated for 52 years. After retiring from contracting, he owned and managed the Arrow Hotel for 13 years. Don was member of St. Joseph’s Knights of Columbus, B.P.O.E. 1688, Rotary, Byways, and an Admiral in the Nebraska Navy and Airport Authority.

Don married Lucille (McCarty) Derrickson in 1947 and had seven children; Lucille died in 1985. Married Angenette Adams in 1995; Angenette died in 2020.

Don is survived by children Linda Carlson, St. Paul, MN, Mary (John) Sickler, Kearney, Susan (Mike) McCrory, Lincoln, David, St. Joseph, MO, Judy Denesia (Phil Sauser), St. Paul, MN, Pat (Becky), Lincoln, twelve grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephew, and friends. His is also survived by children of Angenette; Cheryl Jarchow, Jerry (Linda), and Bill (Connie).

Don was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, brother, wife Lucille, infant son James, stepson Dennis Derrickson, son-in-law Darrell Carlson, and wife Angenette.

The family would also like to thank Brookestone View for the excellent&nbsp;care and kindness they gave our dad during his three-year stay.

Nicolas Miranda Gonzales, 65, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on September 10, 1956 in San Tadeo, Tep. Zacatecas, Mexico to Alfredo Miranda Escobedo and Maria Gonzales. Nicolas was united in marriage to Maria de la luz Landeros on April 22, 1978, in Mexico. Three children were blessed to this union: Alfredo, Abigail, and Eliseo. In 1995, Nicolas moved from Mexico to Lexington, Nebraska and began working at Tyson. Nicolas retired this last year when his health started to decline. Those who knew Nicolas can attest to how down to earth he was and how much he loved spending time with his family. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed spending time at his home with his wife and kids, listening to music and doing BBQ’s.

He is survived by his wife, Maria de la luz Landeros de Miranda, sons, Alfredo Miranda Landeros and Eliseo Miranda Landeros, daughter, Abigail Miranda Landeros, grandchildren, Monserrat Miranda, Edin Lima Miranda, Adan Lima Miranda, Abraham Lima Miranda, great grandson, Emir Miranda, daughter-in-law, Maria R. Nicolas Miranda Gonzales (1956-2022)

Doris Marguerite Bay, 92, of North Platte, passed away June 30, 2022 at home.&nbsp; She was born on July 27, 1929 to James and Loretta (Walker) Peterson in Ogallala.

Doris was raised in the North Platte area and graduated from North Platte High School.&nbsp; After high school, Doris worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Mary’s Hospital.&nbsp; On November 4, 1949, she married Roy LaValle Bay at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in North Platte.&nbsp; To this union four children were born: Roy, Barbara, James, and Kathleen.&nbsp; The couple lived in Bellevue for several years.&nbsp; After they separated, Doris moved back to North Platte in 1961.&nbsp; She worked in the meat department at Sixth Street Foods and at North Platte Packing Plant.&nbsp; She was a custodian at Cody School for several years. Doris was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church most of her life.&nbsp; She was known to be stern but ornery at times.&nbsp; She loved her family and had a strong faith in the Lord.

Survivors include her children, Roy “Skip” (Karen) Bay, Barbara (Ralph) Baker, Kathleen Beasley; grandchildren, Christina, Patrick, James “Jimmy”, Laura, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Jesse, David, Amy, Mark; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by parents, James and Loretta; son, James Bay; siblings, Mary, Glen, Hildegard, Donna.

The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to Mark and Pearl for all the love and care they provided to Doris over the last several years.

 </figure>Doris Marguerite Bay, 92, of North Platte, passed away June 30, 2022 at home.&nbsp; She was born on July 27, 1929 to James and Loretta (Walker) Peterson in Ogallala.Doris was raised in the North Platte area and graduated from North Platte High School.&nbsp; After high school, Doris worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Mary’s Hospital.&nbsp; On November 4, 1949, she married Roy LaValle Bay at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in North Platte.&nbsp; To this union four children were born: Roy, Barbara, James, and Kathleen.&nbsp; The couple lived in Bellevue for several years.&nbsp; After they separated, Doris moved back to North Platte in 1961.&nbsp; She worked in the meat department at Sixth Street Foods and at North Platte Packing Plant.&nbsp; She was a custodian at Cody School for several years. &nbsp; Steven Eugene McNulty of North Platte died unexpectedly at Great Plains Health on June 30, 2022, at the age of 56. Steve, the son of Girard and Faustine 'Frosty' McNulty, was born in McCook on February 27, 1966.&nbsp; He grew up and attended school in North Platte then worked for Central Nebraska Packing and Golden Corral.&nbsp; Steve later moved to California where he continued working for Golden Corral then for the city of Corning and the Corning Olive Company. In 2018, Steve returned to Nebraska and lived in various communities including Lincoln, Grand Island and North Platte. He enjoyed playing chess and doing wood working. He was preceded in death by his father, Girard; mother and stepfather, Frosty and Eugene 'Hack' Hakenkamp; brother, Thomas McNulty; and brother-in-law, Tim McConnell. Survivors include his children who reside in California, Shawn McNulty, Brittany McNulty (Alan Nava) and Amanda (Kevin) Sobel; brother, Jerry (Erin) McNulty of Puyallup, WA; sisters, Kathleen (Tom) Guggenmos and Deborah McConnell of North Platte; grandchildren, Maya and Mateo; niece, Jessica (Wes) Kincaid of North Platte and nephew, Nathan (Wendy) Briscoe of Kansas City, MO; and other family. She loved her childhood in Benkelman and spoke fondly of her extended family. Shortly out of high school, she married Dale Rien and had three children. During this time, she attended beauty school, earning her Cosmetology license. After living in numerous towns in Wyoming and Nebraska, she settled in McCook, NE with her then husband, Martin McCune, with whom she had two sons. She resided in McCook for most of her adult life. She knew no stranger and had a passion for helping people. She loved to visit her grandchildren, tell stories, and listen to country music. She will be deeply missed by many. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and son, Trevor Rien. Diane is survived by 4 children: Troy (Lisa) Rien, Trisha (Shad) Bates, Mitchell McCune, and Matthew (Ladda) McCune; 9 grandchildren: Devin, Paige, Madison, Alex, Tessa, Jacob, Morgan, Natalie, and Sophie; 2 great-grandchildren: Rowan and Ava; and 4 sisters: Cheryl Causey, Ginnee Mortensen, Linda Seybold, and Tammy Tanner. Diane Y. McCune (1945-2022)

Ronald Loudon age 74 of Thedford, NE passed away June 23, 2022, at his home in Thedford, NE.

Ronald Verne Loudon was born May 26, 1948, in Valentine, NE to Verne E. and Donna F. (Smith) Loudon. Ronald grew up on the Loudon Ranch. He attended Calf Creek School and graduated from Thedford High School. May 14, 1968, Ronald joined the Navy until September 18, 1969. After the Navy Ronald moved around living in Broken Bow, Indianapolis, and then returning to Thedford. Ronald was self-employed as a mechanic. He enjoyed working on old tractors with his Uncle Gene, and Harley Davidson motorcycles.

Ronald is survived by a son Vernon Loudon of Grand Island, a daughter Brandy Loudon of Indianapolis, six granddaughters, two great grandchildren, a sister Sydney Michelson, several nieces, and nephews.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents Verne and Donna.

Ronald will be laid to rest July 15, 2022, at 11:00 am at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, NE with Military Honors.

In 1985, she married Michael Tewell in Salem, Oregon. Later, they moved to Charbonneau to be closer to family. Pat was a beautiful person; wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a friend to everyone, always there to lend a helping hand and kind words. Her fun and caring personality was a gift to many. She has a banking background and worked for the City of Salem as a financial counselor and compliance officer for 31 years. Pat served on the Charbonneau Country Club Board, as well as the ladies Niners, Charbonneau Women's Association co-treasurer, Salem-Keizer School District, the City of Keizer's Budget Committee, Board of Directors Keizer Little League and Keizer Junior Miss Scholarship Committee. Pat enjoyed golf, aerobics, Zumba, bunco, pitch, and shopping. Pat is survived by her husband, Mike; sisters, Jane Potts and Joan Kraus; brother, John; her son, Eric and his spouse Kathy; daughter, Tricia and her spouse Don; daughter, Brooke; and grandchildren, Cole, Taylor, Cate and Tate. Join her family in celebrating Pat's life. Graveside services will be Thursday, July 14, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at the Elsie Cemetery with Father Thomas Bush officiating. Dorothy&nbsp;Dubach of North Platte passed away on June 29, 2022, at the age of 94. Dorothy had just recently moved into the Curtis Senior Living Center where she was treated with kindness and great care.

Dorothy was born to Fred and Marie Schaer at Rushville, NE, where she grew up and attended school. Dorothy married Art Hoffman in 1952 and he passed away 10 years later. On September 1, 1962, Dorothy was united in marriage to David Dubach. They lived in Rushville until moving to North Platte in 1971. Over the years, Dorothy worked various jobs and worked hard to support her small family. She worked in restaurants, the Sirloin Stockade, Gibson's and the Salvation Army, and was a member of the Eagle's Auxiliary. Dorothy loved being with her family and lived to garden and grow flowers!

She leaves behind her son, Ken Dubach of North Platte; cousin, Mildred Stava of Rushville; and other family. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husbands, Art Hoffman and David Dubach; and her parents, Fred and Marie Schaer.

Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2022, in the North Platte Cemetery. Please come in your casual attire. Dorothy Dubach (1928-2022)

Jeffrey Wade 'Jeff' Stephens, age 63, peacefully passed away at his home in North Platte on June 29, 2022.

Jeff, the son of Charles and Donna Stephens, was born November 17, 1958, in Aberdeen, SD. He was the oldest, then came Craig, Jodi and Mike. The family moved to Albert Lea, MN, where they lived until Jeff's junior year of high school then returned to South Dakota where he finished high school, graduating from Sully Buttes in Onida. During his senior year, Jeff worked on his grandparents farm and helped finish the fall crops. Jeff always considered Onida his second home since that is where his grandparents, Charlie and Lilian Stephens, lived and had a farm. He worked on the farm every year from spring 'til fall until school started. He loved the farm and ranch life, but never really wanted to go back to Albert Lea. Jeff cherished his other grandparents, Vern and Ethel Palmer who lived in Gettysburg, South Dakota. Jeff later moved to Pierre, SD, and started working construction on a Missouri River pump station for irrigation systems. He followed that company to Mitchell, South Dakota, and that is where he started his trucking career, hauling hay to Texas at the age of 18. In 1979, Jeff moved to Ft. Collins, CO, and met Geralyn Ortiz. He eventually convinced her to move to Evanston, WY, where he worked in the oil fields driving trucks and heavy equipment and did well testing which was hard work and a lot of hours. Jeff and Geralyn got married in Evanston, had two children, Jolene and Jared, and moved back to Ft. Collins in 1986. They divorced in '98. Jeff continued working various trucking jobs which included driving for an armored motor service, hauling money with an armored tractor trailer, he pulled double and triple loads for Nations Way Transport, then bought a truck from his uncle and hauled cattle and grain. In 1999 Jeff started driving for Walmart Transportation and eventually achieved 2.5 million safe driving miles! Jeff met Karen Waite in 2003. They lived in Loveland, CO until 2007 when Jeff was transferred to North Platte with Walmart. Jeff and Karen married in 2013 and later divorced. They cherished their miniature donkeys, Dusty and Festus, and enjoyed going back to Colorado to see Jared and Jolene and the grandkids, Lily, Gianna and Gracie, as well as Karen's kids, Josh, Mark and Aaron. Even though Jeff was divorced from Geralyn and Karen, he remained friends with them and loved them both. On January 25, 2022, Jeff and Karen were reunited in marriage. Jeff was confirmed at the Methodist Church in Albert Lea, MN. His hobbies included fishing and hunting elk and pheasant, and he was a longtime member of the NRA. Jeff enjoyed big laughs and practical jokes with friends and family. He was truly blessed with family and friends and by the hand of God, may they all meet again in higher places...Life is but a journey.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Stephens; and his grandparents. Survivors include his wife, Karen; his father, Charles (Sandy) Stephens of Minnesota; stepfather, Kenny (Judy) Barnes of Michigan; children, Jared Stephens of Loveland, CO, and Jolene Stephens of Ft. Collins, CO; grandchildren, Lily, Gianna, Gracie Stephens; his sister, Jodi Skellenger of Oregon; brother, Craig (Julie) Stephens of Water Town, SD, and Mike Stephens of Ft. Collins, CO; and other family.

In keeping with Jeff's wishes cremation was chosen.

They lived in Loveland, CO until 2007 when Jeff was transferred to North Platte with Walmart. Jeff and Karen married in 2013 and later divorced. They cherished their miniature donkeys, Dusty and Festus, and enjoyed going back to Colorado to see Jared and Jolene and the grandkids, Lily, Gianna and Gracie, as well as Karen's kids, Josh, Mark and Aaron. Even though Jeff was divorced from Geralyn and Karen, he remained friends with them and loved them both. On January 25, 2022, Jeff and Karen were reunited in marriage. Jeff was confirmed at the Methodist Church in Albert Lea, MN. His hobbies included fishing and hunting elk and pheasant, and he was a longtime member of the NRA. Jeff enjoyed big laughs and practical jokes with friends and family. He was truly blessed with family and friends and by the hand of God, may they all meet again in higher places...Life is but a journey.He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Stephens; and his grandparents. Survivors include his wife, Karen; his father, Charles (Sandy) Stephens of Minnesota; stepfather, Kenny (Judy) Barnes of Michigan; children, Jared Stephens of Loveland, CO, and Jolene Stephens of Ft. Collins, CO; grandchildren, Lily, Gianna, Gracie Stephens; his sister, Jodi Skellenger of Oregon; brother, Craig (Julie) Stephens of Water Town, SD, and Mike Stephens of Ft. Collins, CO; and other family.In keeping with Jeff's wishes cremation was chosen. Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Odean Colonial Chapel in North Platte, NE.
