Della May Morris, age 77, of Trenton, NE passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at El Dorado Manor in Trenton. Della was born June 18, 1944 in Toledo, OH to parents Wade and Ellen (Dusha) Lewis.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband William J. Morris; and her three brothers.

Those left to celebrate her life include her children, Bill Morris of North Platte, NE, Mary Pierson and fiancé David Carlos of Stratton, NE and Pam Morris of North Platte, NE; grandchildren Chris and wife Katie Sandmann, and Mary Ellen Morris; and four great grandchildren with one on the way.

Barbara Jean Stephenson, 84, of Ogallala, passed away on April 19th, 2022 in Ogallala, Nebraska. Barbara was born on October 26,1937 in North Platte, Nebraska to August and Mary (Hollenbeck) Ackerman. She attended school at St. Patrick’s Catholic school in North Platte where she graduated in 1960. She then moved to California where she went to college and received her degree as a Registered Nurse and began her career in California. In 1965, she married Dwight Miner and the couple resided in Salinas, CA and Barbara worked at Memorial Hospital. She then moved to Sacramento, California. In 1985, she married Fred Stephenson, she than retired in 1986. Barbara came back to Nebraska and made a home in Madrid, Nebraska and then in 2015 she moved to Ogallala, Nebraska. Barbara had a heart of gold and was a very generous woman; she could be stubborn at times but was always there to help anyone who needed a hand. She enjoyed reading, baking, fishing, and loved being on her horses. She enjoyed going to church and spending time with her family. Barbara truly loved her family and they know now that she will be watching over them as their guardian angel.

Barbara is survived by her three sons: Michael Allen Miner of Ogallala, NE, Chris&nbsp; Miner of Omaha, NE, Daniel Miner of Ogallala, NE; two daughters: Diane&nbsp; Miner of Ogallala, NE, Cheri&nbsp; Gaudern of Fruita, CA; two sisters: Marilyn&nbsp; Willard of Ogallala, NE, Pat&nbsp; Wilcox of Salt Lake City, UT; five brothers: Ron&nbsp; Ackerman of Lewellen, NE, Dennis&nbsp; Ackerman of Ogallala, NE, Bob&nbsp; Ackerman of LaGrange, CA, Larry&nbsp; Ackerman of Pocotello, ID, Benard Ackerman ; eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She is proceeded in death by her husband Dwight Miner, parents August and Mary Ackerman and Granddaughter Katie.

She married Dale Thomas in 1958, and lived in Wyoming and Colorado for several years.&nbsp; One daughter Deborah Kay was born to this union. They were later divorced. She later moved back to Nebraska. In 1972, she married Harvey Busse in Broken Bow and one daughter, Renee Jean, was born to this union. They then moved to Berwyn and lived there. They built a new house in 1975 and she lived there until 2016. She worked at the County Assessor's office in Broken Bow for over 30 years, retiring in 2006 as the deputy assessor. She was proceeded in death by Harvey in 2004. Joanna was a member the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow. She was a member&nbsp;of the Quilters Guild and a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed gardening and painting on dish towels. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends during coffee at Custer Heights.

She is survived by daughters Deborah (Warren) Jackson of Valentine, NE and Renee Sommer and Lawrence Stump of Broken Bow, NE. Grandchildren: Michaela (David) Williamson of Minnesota, Savannah of Chadron, Katelynn and Brennan of Valentine. August, Felicia, and Aliyah of Broken Bow. Brothers: Don (Marie) Dunkel of Lincoln, Dick (Roberta) of Ogallala, &nbsp;and sisters-in-law Sandra Dunkel of Broken Bow, and Nancy Busse of Texas. Several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Gary Kent Bargell, 83, of North Platte, passed away April 20, 2022 at home.&nbsp; He was born on September 11, 1938 to Joseph (Maczka) and Doris (Young) Bargell in North Platte.

Gary graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 1956 and went on to obtain a bachelor of fine arts degree from Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS in 1964.&nbsp; While at Bethany, he was mentored by John Bashor, a renowned midwestern painter and print-maker.&nbsp; Gary was a devoted student of the arts, completing graduate classes at multiple universities and ultimately obtaining a master’s degree from Kearney State College in 1970. &nbsp; Gary married Pauline Leech in 1961 in North Platte.&nbsp; He started his long teaching career at Kearney State College in the Art Department and also taught at York High School.&nbsp; The couple moved back to North Platte in 1967 where Gary was a beloved art teacher at North Platte High School until he retired in 1998.&nbsp; For a number of years, he also taught art at Mid-Plains Community College.&nbsp; Through the years, he influenced countless students, sparking an interest in the arts while sharing his life’s wisdom.&nbsp;&nbsp; Gary had a wry sense of humor and was a very content person, who believed in living within one’s means and appreciating life’s simple pleasures.&nbsp; His interests were many and varied, including golf, baseball, hunting, fishing, shooting trap and skeet, nature, and of course creating art from whatever medium he discovered. Gary was a founding member of the Lure Traders, a local group of lifelong friends and fishermen, and a long-time member of the Lincoln County Wildlife Gun Club.&nbsp; Gary was an avid collector of fishing lures, duck decoys, and anything that seemed worth saving.&nbsp; He loved helping kids be successful, and was always a sound source of advice.&nbsp; He was greatly loved as a father, a grandfather, a teacher and a friend, and his unique perspective will be deeply missed. &nbsp;

Survivors include three children, Jon Bargell of North Platte, Dana (Cindy) Bargell of Dillon, CO and Spring Branch, TX, Jennifer (Randy) Porter of Centennial, CO; ex-wife, Pauline Aden of North Platte; grandchildren, Cassidy Lane Bargell of Cambridge, MA, Delani Kate Bargell of Dillon, CO, Hannah Jo (Chris) Medved of Sheridan, WY, Hayden Young (Kelsey) Porter of Weatherford, TX, Maddison Claire (fiancé Brandon Wells) Porter of Flagstaff, AZ, Nolan Bargell Porter of Austin, TX, Sadie Rose Porter of Centennial, CO; great grandchildren, Porter and McKinley; siblings, Dave (Deniece) Bargell of North Platte, Frank (Karen) Bargell of Sterling, CO; numerous other family members, friends, and past students. Gary K. Bargell (1938-2022)

Barbara Ann Calder, 88 of Lexington formerly of Ogallala passed away Monday, April 18, 2022 at Avamere in Lexington. Barbara was born October 3, 1933 in Grove City, Pennsylvania to John and Dorothy (Campbell) Allison. She graduated from high school in Naperville, Illinois and the attended Northern Illinois University and Miami Of Ohio in Oxford, Ohio. Barbara was united in marriage to Jim Calder and they lived in Detroit and Dayton, Ohio before moving to Ogallala in 1966. She worked in retail and owned The Lighthouse (a lighting store), that was located on Spruce Street and then worked at West Central Nebraska Development District, which was an economic development agency. The couple would divorce in 1982. She would later meet her partner Bob Edgar, and the couple enjoyed many years together until his passing in 2013. Barbara moved to Lexington in 2016 to be closer to her daughter, Allison Calder Luther and her family. She was an excellent swimmer and learned to do synchronized swimming and was planning to try out for the Olympics when she was living in Chicago before an injury sidelined that endeavor. She was a founding member of the Ogallala Yacht Club, she was their first female commodore. She was instrumental as one of the founders of the Governor’s Cup Regatta at Lake McConaughy beginning in 1969 which was held every year over Labor Day. For several years the racing committee was successful in bringing the current Nebraska Governor to present the overall trophy. For many years the Governor’s Cup Regatta was the largest open sailing regatta in the country. Barbara loved to read, playing golf, sailing, singing, and playing shuffleboard when she spent her winters in Mesa, Arizona. She was a fifty-year member of the First Congregational Church in Ogallala where she served on many committees and sang in the choir.

Survivors include two daughters: Allison (Steve) Luther of Lexington and Beth Calder of Alameda, California, granddaughters: Leah Luther of Nashville, Tennessee, Caitlyn (Justin) Drudik and their daughter Olivia of Cape Girardeau, Missouri along with numerous grand dogs over many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, John (Bud) Allison and companion, Bob Edgar.

At Barbara’s request she was cremated and there will be no service. Memorials are suggested to the Coastal German Shepherd Rescue or the First United Presbyterian Church in Lexington. &nbsp; Evelyn Lucille Gengenbach, 95, of Grant, passed away Monday, April 18, 2022, at Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant, NE. Evelyn was born on April 11, 1927, to John and Caroline (Elsasser) Keuten on the family farm northwest of Grant. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church on May 28, 1927, and confirmed on June 1, 1941. Evelyn attended grade school at District 50 Rural School and graduated from Perkins County High School with the class of 1944. Evelyn received teacher's training and taught at country schools in Perkins County for the next five years, even teaching her future sisters-in-law Rose and Anita. Evelyn married Dan Gengenbach on September 24, 1950, at Zion Lutheran Church. The couple made their home five miles southeast of Grant, where they farmed and raised Hereford cattle. The couple enjoyed over 68 years together. Evelyn was very active in Zion Lutheran Church, serving as organist for over 65 years, and was a member of Ladies Aid. She also belonged to the Texas Trail Extension Club. Evelyn had a deep love for music, playing organ and piano for countless weddings, funerals, and other events. She also enjoyed gardening and flowers. She and Dan loved to travel together and took many trips. They thoroughly enjoyed the Keuten and Gengenbach nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dan; brothers and sister-in-law Melvin Keuten and Marvin &amp; Dorothy Keuten; father and mother-in-law Chris &amp; Anna Gengenbach; in-laws: Harold &amp; Lottie Gengenbach, George &amp; Wilma &amp; Beatrice Gengenbach, Lillian &amp; Wayne Logsdon, Arlene &amp; Eugene Kurkowski, Jack Barry, and Dean Russell; nephew John Logsdon; and great-nephew Joseph Ficken. She was born December 2, 1940 in Wauneta, NE, daughter of Harold and Lucinda Moon. She grew up in Wauneta and graduated from Wauneta High School. Following graduation, Kay went on to attend nursing school at Mary Lanning School of Nursing. She married John Olmsted on September 4, 1963 in Wauneta. To this union three children were born: Michelle, Rebecca, and Racheal. Kay worked as a nurse at Gothenburg Health for over 50 years and at Great Plains Health for over 20 years. In 1989, she received the Hero award from the NRECA. She was a member of the Gothenburg United Methodist Church, the Nebraska Nurses Association, as well as a local bridge and knitting club. Kay loved to read, knit, cross stitch, and bake cakes. The one thing she loved more than any of that was her family, especially her grandchildren, Amelia and John.&nbsp;

Glenda was born on the family farm 3 1/2 miles NE of Gothenburg to Emil and Helen (Grady) Ludwig.&nbsp; She attended District 7 School and graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1952.&nbsp; She married Robert L. Wilson on May 1, 1955 at the American Lutheran Church.&nbsp; They were the parents of Crystal and Mathew.&nbsp; Glenda worked at First State Bank for several years.&nbsp; She was a busy farm wife and mother. Glenda was a member of Banner United Methodist Church for 67 years where she taught Sunday School for many years.&nbsp; She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and reading books, she crocheted and knitted many things for her family and friends. Glenda was an excellent cook and gardener and always enjoyed canning her produce.&nbsp; &nbsp;

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Robert Lee Wilson of Gothenburg; daughter, Crystal (Doug) Max of Gothenburg; son, Mathew Wilson of Gothenburg; two sisters-in-law Jan Ludwig of Lincoln and Kathie (Ron) Koca of Forsyth, MO, seven grandchildren, nine great-great grandsons, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Dallas D. McMichael, age 67, of Culbertson, NE passed away at his home in rural Hitchcock County on Sunday, April 17, 2022.

Dallas was born November 6, 1954 in Cozad, NE to parents Herbert P. and Maxine P. (Kahler) McMichael.&nbsp; He was one of six children.&nbsp; Dallas graduated from McCook High School with the Class of 1974.&nbsp; Dallas was a lifetime NRA member who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time boating at the lake with his family and dogs.&nbsp;

Dallas was preceded in death by his parents; youngest son, Travis McMichael; brothers, Blaine Andrews and Lloyd Clark; and his brother in law, David Hanes. Those left to celebrate his life include his son, Doug McMichael of Murdock, NE; sisters, Gale Hanes of Culbertson, Janice Bailey&nbsp; and Janet (Terry) Smith, all of Loveland, CO; and his four grandchildren, Kaylee Melvin, Justin Warburton, Chloe McMichael and Jamesyn McMichael.&nbsp;

Lois Arlyne Heller, passed away on April 11, 2022 in Thornton, Colorado.&nbsp; She was born on December 9, 1940, the oldest daughter of Aubrey and Virginia Heller.

Phyllis Brockmoller, 92, passed away April 18, 2022 at Brookestone Gardens in Kearney, Nebraska.

Phyllis was born December 23, 1929, at Ogallala, the daughter of Faye and Iva (Ficke) Gemmell. She grew up on a farm northwest of Ogallala and graduated from Ogallala High School in 1947. After graduation, she worked in the Keith County Superintendent and Clerk offices.&nbsp; On June 9, 1948, she married Donald W. Brockmoller at the Methodist Church in Ogallala. They celebrated 54 years of marriage before Don’s death on August 12, 2002. She was a lifetime member of United Methodist Church. Once their four children were in school, Phyllis returned to work in both the County Clerk and Judge offices, retiring in 1994.&nbsp; Following retirement, she worked part-time at various jobs in the Ogallala community. She enjoyed meeting people, visiting, word puzzles, quilting, gardening, and was always ready for a “grandkid fix” whenever the opportunity arose. She had a servant’s heart in raising her children, caring for her mother and her loving husband, Don. Her kindness and hospitality touched many lives over the years.

She is survived by Daughter-in-law Sandy Brockmoller of North Platte, NE; two daughters; Cindy Lungrin (Bob), of Kearney, NE; Cathy Logan (Lonnie), of Grand Island, NE and son&nbsp;Kim Brockmoller (Darla), of Lexington, NE,&nbsp; eight grandchildren, Justin Brockmoller, Jerod Brockmoller, Jeff Lungrin, Joel Lungrin, Meagan Carpenter, Cole Brockmoller, Tiffany Bolhouse, and Ashley Stevens; and eighteen great-grandchildren. &nbsp; Betty 'Pat' Harper, of Hershey, NE, passed way at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg on March 31, 2022, at the age of 84. Betty was born to Kathleen and McKinley White, Sr. on September 6, 1937, at McBeth, West Virginia. She married Robert 'Bob' Harper and for over 40 years they built and enjoyed their lives together.&nbsp; The couple lived in Hershey where Pat worked outside the home and in the community but through the years she preferred her role in the home.&nbsp; She enjoyed spending her time traveling, gardening and hosting football parties with Bob.&nbsp; Pat welcomed company with a friendly smile and always had a cup of coffee and an open chair at her kitchen island ready for a stop from a visitor.&nbsp; She had a listening ear, strong shoulder and wise words of wisdom to share. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; five brothers; and her son, Perry Collman. Survivors include her husband, Bob Harper, of Hershey; as well as other family, her friends, and friends who became her family. Mary M. Roberts, 81, passed away on April 18, 2022, at Linden Court in North Platte, Nebraska. Mary was born on June 1, 1940, daughter of Agnes and Leo Collins of Bismarck, North Dakota.&nbsp; Mary had three sisters, Billie, Patty and Cassie.&nbsp; Mary graduated from St. Mary High School in Bismarck. She attended an all-girls college in St. Louis.&nbsp; She transferred to Minot State Teachers College, now Minot State University. There she graduated in 1964 with a teaching degree.&nbsp; During this time, she was Sweetheart for TKE Fraternity.&nbsp; Just prior to her graduation she married Justin Roberts in Minot, North Dakota.&nbsp; They were looking forward to their 60th&nbsp;Anniversary on April 23.&nbsp;&nbsp; Mary and Justin moved to North Platte in 1962 to start teaching. She taught 2nd&nbsp;grade at the old Lincoln Elementary as well as 1st&nbsp;and 2nd&nbsp;grades in other schools.&nbsp; In addition, she taught at the Child Development Center during the summer months. She retired after teaching for 34 years in 2002.&nbsp; After her retirement she worked in the clinic with Dr. Lamberty for about ten years. &nbsp;Mary was very much committed to her teaching responsibilities.&nbsp;&nbsp; She continues to hear from a number of her students.&nbsp; She used to tell her students that she was their “young and beautiful teacher.” She will always be the “young and beautiful teacher.” When she lost her special dog “Cowboy” she felt a great loss.&nbsp; Mary’s grandchildren, her children, and past students are very special to her.&nbsp; She attended many of the activities which involved them.&nbsp; A number of her grandson’s friends called her Grandma Mary.

Mary is survived by her husband Justin, North Platte; son Matt, his wife Tracy and daughter Abby of Kearney, Nebraska; daughter, Amy Klinkefus, of North Platte and son Evan Klinkefus of Omaha, Nebraska; and daughter Meghan Roberts of North Platte; her sister, Cassie Fischer, of Wisconsin; along with many other relatives and friends.

Robert Clinton Campbell, 66, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away April 16, 2022 at Great Plains Health in North Platte. He was born April 21, 1055 to Robert and Helen Mary (Souto) Campbell.

Robert Clinton Campbell (1955-2022)

&nbsp; Robert Dean 'Bob' Bowker, 80, of North Platte, NE, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2022. Bob was born April 3, 1942, in Wray, CO, to Lloyd and Rosetta Bowker.&nbsp; He grew up and attended school in Woodland, CA. In 1959, Bob enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a Seamans's Apprentice.&nbsp; After receiving an honorable discharge, Bob decided to join his father and learn the trucking trade. Together, he and his Dad drove an 18 Wheeler across the U.S. After a few years of driving and being away from family, Bob decided to find means of employment that would allow him to be home.&nbsp; He pursued and received his General Education Diploma in North Platte then went on to receive a diploma in Machine Shop Technology in 1976. While working at a dog food factory, Bob was involved in a work place accident that took the 2 middle fingers on his left hand. Throughout the years, he very much enjoyed fabricating stories of exactly how he lost these fingers; one such story was that he was at war and got so hungry he had no choice, but to eat them. That orneriness and sense of humor is what everyone who's ever encountered Bob will forever remember about him. At some point, while at the dog food factory (possibly after losing his fingers), Bob decided it was time again for a career change.&nbsp; On May 2, 1980, Bob successfully graduated from the Colorado Law Enforcement Training Academy.&nbsp; After achieving this feat, he went to work for the Julesburg Police Department as a Patrol Officer and later as Chief of Police. Bob married Wanda McCord, throughout the 1960's and 1970's, to these unions the couple welcomed 5 children, Corinna, Bryan, James, Michelle and Stacy. In 1985, Bob married&nbsp; the love of his life, Verlien Reutzel-Reel, and added Verliens two children, Melissa and Gus, to his family.&nbsp; The couple resided in Julesburg, CO, where they raised their combined family.&nbsp; During Bob's off hours from the police force they enjoyed playing country music at the VFW on the weekends.&nbsp; Bob sang, played the guitar, and dabbled in song writing, while Verlien played the keyboard and accompanied him on duets. After leaving the police force, Bob and Verlien&nbsp; decided to relocate to the Tacoma, WA, area where he began working in construction, remodeling mobile homes. It was during this time that he had a work accident that damaged his back, resulting in numerous back surgeries and forcing him into an early retirement. After retiring, while remaining in the Washington area, Bob enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, fishing and camping at Lake Chehalis where he landed a 5' 8" Sturgeon. At some point, Bob and Verlien decided to relocate once again, this time moving to North Platte.&nbsp; Bob enjoyed retirement in Nebraska.&nbsp; He continued to spend time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, fishing, remodeling the family home, working on computers, playing in poker tournaments, riding his Harley, and going to morning coffee. After Bob lost his beloved wife, Verlien, in 2009, he remained in North Platte to be close to family and friends. Along with his wife, Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Rosetta Bowker; sisters, Darlene Bowker and Karen Fisher; brother, Lloyd Bowker; brother-in-law, James Smotherman; and grandchildren, Les Reel and Mason Sullivan. Robert is survived by children, Bryan (Ron) McCarthy of Oklahoma City, OK, Corinna McGregor (David Butler) of North Platte, James Bowker of Sidney, Michelle Sullivan of Ovid, CO, Stacy (Anna) Bowker of Sidney, and Gus Reel and Melissa Ross of North Platte; grandchildren, Amber and Aaron Fisher of North Platte, Megan and McCoy Sullivan of Ovid, CO, MacKenzie Bowker (Alex) of Scottsbluff, Jeff Florom of Paxton, Nita Ross of North Platte, Leanna Reel and Rick (Taylor) Reel of Washington, and Pyper Reel of North Platte; and 12 great grandchildren. Robert Dean "Bob" Bowker (1942-2022)

Rose Marie Barner, 86, of Stapleton, Nebraska, passed away April 16, 2022 in Gothenburg, Nebraska. She was born August 26, 1935, to BD and Blanche (Ward) Hunn in Garden City, South Dakota.

Rose graduated from Tryon High School in 1952.&nbsp; She married Dennis E. Barner on May 25, 1952. They lived on several ranches in the Sandhills where Rose stayed home to take care of her family. &nbsp;In 1964 they moved to Stapleton, Nebraska, where they worked at the AA Service Station and Rose was the bookkeeper.&nbsp; They purchased the grocery store from John Beckius in Stapleton and continued to operate the store until 2000.&nbsp; Rose was a member of the Stapleton Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder and a Sunday School Teacher.&nbsp; Family was very important to Rose and she will be missed as the matriarch of their family.&nbsp; She enjoyed ceramics, puzzles, playing cards, crocheting, and known as an excellent seamstress and she played the piano.&nbsp; Rose loved to visit with others and was always the last to leave.&nbsp; Rose was well thought of by her caregivers and she was very kind to each of them.&nbsp;

Surviving Rose are her children, Dervin Barner, Minden, Nebraska, William (Donalee) Barner, Mullen, Nebraska, Lyndel (Tom) Johnson, Stapleton, Nebraska, Anne (Tony) Little, Kearney, Nebraska and James (Kimberly) Barner, Casper, Wyoming; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Miller, Arvada, Colorado; sister-in-law, Betty Hunn, California; along with many other family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, BD and Blanche Hunn; her husband, Dennis Barner; brothers Karl Hunn and Paul Hunn; sisters Lois Hunn and Ruth Miller.

Rose Marie Barner (1935-2022)

Samuel&nbsp;Parker, age 67, of North Platte, passed away at the Sutherland Care Center on April 17, 2022.

Sam was born to Wildia and Betty Parker on March 25, 1955, at Xenia, OH, where he grew up. After graduating from high school, Sam enlisted into the U.S. Army. Following his discharge he returned home and worked at a gas station.

Sam later moved to Bennett, CO, and worked as a mechanic for 16 years then moved to North Platte where he worked as an electrician at the Walmart DC. He eventually retired with a medical disability.

Sam loved working on cars to make them go faster and liked to race cars. He also enjoyed fishing and camping.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Denny Pitstick; and the love of his life, Janice Roberts.

Survivors include his daughters, Kelly Hawkins of South Lebanon, OH, and Jenny Hawkins of Lebanon, OH; niece, Patricia 'Trish' (Jed) Weir, of North Platte; nephew, Roger 'Lee' (Jessica) Osman, of South Fulton, TN; sisters, Donna Osman and Vivian Pitstick of Xenia, OH; and other family.

Samuel Parker (1955-2022)

Dan Eugene Hudson, 84, died suddenly at his home in rural Brady, Nebraska, late the afternoon of Wednesday, April 13, 2022.

He was born March 23, 1938, in Gothenburg, to Guy and Astrid (Johnson-Anderson) Hudson. After graduating from Brady High School in 1957, Dan joined the United States Navy (1958-1962), serving in the Pacific on the U.S.S. Destroyer Richard S. Edwards as a member of its first crew. Following the Navy, he was a mechanic in Gothenburg, working at the local Ford dealership, operating the Husky Gas Station south of the Lake Avenue railroad tracks and working with his brother-in-law Bob Ollendorf in their shop. During this time, he saw much of North America by car. He met Karen Joy Ross while working at the Ford dealership and the pair were married June 8, 1969. In 1972, he built and opened Dan’s Auto Service, which he operated as its sole proprietor until he retired in 2003. Dan was an enthusiast. He loved science fiction, guns and marksmanship, hunting and fishing, eggs and pancakes for breakfast, and was an Amateur Radio operator, assembling HAM radio equipment from kits, building specialized antennas from schematics published in magazines, and sending computer code over the radio. He encouraged a can-do attitude in other people, saying “If I can do it, how hard can it be?”

Dan was preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law; brothers-in-law, Robert Ollendorf and John Coble; brother-in-law, Jim Ross; and many other friends and relatives. Survivors include his wife, Karen Hudson of rural Brady; sisters, Ramona Ollendorf of Gothenburg and Sandra Coble of Cozad; son, David Lee Hudson and his fiancée Deanna Walz of Greenwood, Nebraska; son, Darin Gene Hudson of Grand Island; grandchildren Owen and Maggie Hudson, of the Westmont neighborhood of Omaha, Nebraska, and Greenwood, Nebraska; and many others.

He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, where memorials may be sent in his name.

Nancy Lee Parmenter, age 78, died Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Gothenburg Health.

Nancy born December 22, 1943 to John and Pearl (Diehl-LaFountain) Brien in Havre, MT.&nbsp; Her parents divorced and Pearl married Rolland Shoop and the family moved to Spearfish, SD, then to Nevada Gulch around the age of 5 years, then to Trojan where Nancy attended school.&nbsp; Later the family moved to the Gordon-Rushville, NE area where Nancy graduated high school.&nbsp;&nbsp; Nancy had her first daughter, Michele, in May of 1965. Nancy married James R. Parmenter on December 29. 19​​66.&nbsp; To the family of three they added a son, Slugger.&nbsp; The family moved to Gothenburg in 1970.&nbsp; They divorced in 1984. Nancy moved around in South Dakota and Nebraska, but always landed back in Gothenburg. Nancy later married Randy L. Brown on March 25, 2013 at Gothenburg, NE.&nbsp; Nancy was a fun loving and hard working person who enjoyed BINGO, slot machines, yard work, boat rides (but could not swim a stroke) and afternoon cruises just to see the sites.&nbsp; She loved playing cards, watching Wheel of Fortune and Days of Our Lives.&nbsp; The apples of her eyes were her grandchildren, but what made those apples sparkle was her great-granddaughter, that shared the same birthday, Miss Ariel Jo. Nancy had an in-home daycare for several years, worked at, managed and owned several eating establishments in the Gothenburg area.&nbsp; She truly loved being around people.

Dorthy L. (Leone) (Fox) Pracht Born: April 9, 1925 Married: June 27, 1945 (on Howard’s birthday) Died: Thursday, April 14, 2022, &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Age: 97 Years - 5 Days at Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell, NE

Dorthy was born the second child to Clyde and Anna (Parker) Fox in rural Custer County, near Ansley. Her older sister was several years older, so Dorthy was much like an oldest child. She worked hard as a farm kid. After finishing public school, she studied at Chadron State College earning a teaching certificate. She was teaching in a Custer County rural school (in which were enrolled Erma, Norma, Lloyd, and Donna May Pracht). The Pracht kids invited the teacher to their home for supper. There Dorthy met Howard (who worked the farm with his dad rather than attending school). They married on Howard’s birthday at her parent’s home (with few attending, because of heavy rain). Over the years, Dorthy helped Howard farm two farmsteads, near Weissert, and near Westerville. The young couple cared for Howard’s paternal grandmother in their home. Later were born to them sons Eugene and Dale. She left the farm life when the Westerville farm was sold and the family of four moved to Broken Bow. She was a provider while Howard studied at Milford Trade School and helped him run Arrow Radio and Television in Broken Bow. She launched her own business in Broken Bow, Keystone Bookstore, at several locations in the city. She was still open for business after Howard died and until her fight with dementia turned against her. She moved to the Broken Bow Care and Rehab Center to receive care, when living alone was no longer safe. The closing of the Center required another move to Callaway Nursing Home, and one more move to Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell, where she was living until her death. She celebrated her 97th&nbsp;birthday April 9th, with son, Dale and daughters-in-law Alice, and Kaylene. But she had clearly declined in health. Asera Care Hospice was engaged and after only a few days she declined rapidly and was lovingly and professionally cared for in her last days and hours by the Center and Asera Care.

Dorthy was proceeded in death by her parents Clyde and Anna (Parker) Fox, two sisters Florence Crawford, and Edna Bauer, brother Carl Fox, her husband Howard, son Eugene, daughters-in-law Nancy Stithem, and Gretta Kohl. Dorthy is survived by son Dale and spouse Alice of Norfolk, daughter-in-law Kaylene of Broken Bow, five grandchildren: Charles Pracht, LeAnna (Jerry) Lukas, Tara (Greg) Harmsen, Jennifer (Benjamin) Randolph, and Adam (Amber) Pracht, 13 great grandchildren: Kyla Lowewenstein, Joslyn Lowewenstein, Lindsey Schukei, Eli Randolph, Noah Randolph, Justin Lukas, Jenna Lukas, Chelsea Kohl, Hunter Harmsen, Brandon Harmsen, Acacia Pracht, Eian Pracht, and Maia Pracht, many nieces, and nephews.

She was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and lived out her faith through congregations in Westerville Methodist Church and Broken Bow First Baptist Church, and through the international scripture distribution work of the Gideons.

Her family will miss her but are comforted by the promise of new life in Christ, which we invite all reading this obituary to find and follow.

Dorthy Pracht (1925-2022)

Ardith Elaine (Verbeck) Bendler, age 92, passed away on April 13, 2022.&nbsp; She was born March 25, 1930 at the hospital in Holdrege, Nebraska. Ardith was the ninth of eleven children born to Art and Nina (Giles) Verbeck. She lived in a 3-bedroom farmhouse with her siblings, parents, grandfather and uncle.&nbsp; Electricity came in 1934 and an indoor bathroom her senior year in high school. Ardith graduated from Holdrege High School in 1948.&nbsp; She married Bob Bendler on June 25, 1950 in Holdrege.&nbsp; To this marriage were born three children: Scott, Dave and Julee. Ardith was as a homemaker and was actively involved with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren throughout her life.&nbsp; This gave her great joy especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.&nbsp; She rarely missed an event, ceremony or performance while she was able. Among her pastimes, she liked gardening (especially flowers), gambling and sports, especially Husker volleyball. Her husband was involved in many things but it was Ardith who did a lot of the specific work.&nbsp; The best example of this was raising puppies.&nbsp; Whether it was poodles or Labrador retrievers, she was the one up all night taking care of the dogs. Any nurturing qualities her family had was because of her.&nbsp;

Ardith was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her parents Art and Nina, brothers LeWarren Verbeck, Robert Verbeck, Bill Verbeck, Dean Verbeck, Don Verbeck and sisters Edith Owen, Anne Verbeck, Dorothy Cain and Betty Coburn. She is survived by her children; Scott Bendler and daughter Hanna; Dave (Jan) Bendler and sons Jacob (Carrie), Jeremy, Justin and Jorden; Julee (Steve) Mather and daughters, Kate (Brett) Berry and Emmalynn, Max and Isabella; Emily (Danny) McCormick and Madison and Leia; and son Jameson; sister-in-law Phyllis Verbeck; sister JoAnne Horn and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Pastor Bill Ohlmann, officiating.&nbsp; The Service will be live-streamed via the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home Facebook page. Ardith was as a homemaker and was actively involved with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren throughout her life.&nbsp; This gave her great joy especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.&nbsp; She rarely missed an event, ceremony or performance while she was able. Among her pastimes, she liked gardening (especially flowers), gambling and sports, especially Husker volleyball. Her husband was involved in many things but it was Ardith who did a lot of the specific work.&nbsp; The best example of this was raising puppies.&nbsp; Whether it was poodles or Labrador retrievers, she was the one up all night taking care of the dogs. Any nurturing qualities her family had was because of her.&nbsp;Ardith was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her parents Art and Nina, brothers LeWarren Verbeck, Robert Verbeck, Bill Verbeck, Dean Verbeck, Don Verbeck and sisters Edith Owen, Anne Verbeck, Dorothy Cain and Betty Coburn. She is survived by her children; Scott Bendler and daughter Hanna; Dave (Jan) Bendler and sons Jacob (Carrie), Jeremy, Justin and Jorden; Julee (Steve) Mather and daughters, Kate (Brett) Berry and Emmalynn, Max and Isabella; Emily (Danny) McCormick and Madison and Leia; and son Jameson; sister-in-law Phyllis Verbeck; sister JoAnne Horn and many nieces and nephews.A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Pastor Bill Ohlmann, officiating.&nbsp; The Service will be live-streamed via the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home Facebook page. A Private Burial will be held prior to the Celebration at Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege.
